I registered my Dad for an Intro to Whitewater Canoeing course at MKC, and it was an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was smooth and well organized. The check-in process was a breeze, and the staff were so welcoming. My Dad had an amazing time with a fun, professional, and extremely knowledgeable instructor who made learning both easy and enjoyable. The camping facilities were excellent, and the food at the centre-wow! Absolutely sublime. It was the perfect blend of adventure and comfort. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, highly recommend!
We had such an amazing experience at Madawaska! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. Roxy was especially wonderful — so friendly and kind, and she went above and beyond to make my daughters feel comfortable and excited. The rafting trip itself was the perfect balance of fun and family-friendly adventure. My 3-year-old had an absolute blast and didn’t want it to end, which says it all! It was such a memorable outing for all of us, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Madawaska for families looking for an unforgettable outdoor experience!
We recently went on the Family Whitewater Rafting adventure with our two boys (ages 7 and 10), and the entire experience was incredible from beginning to end! As first-timers, we wanted something exciting but approachable and this was the perfect way to dip our toes into whitewater rafting. Everything was so well organized, from the easy check-in to the fun shuttle ride that set the tone for the day. The rafting itself was a thrilling adventure! Our boys especially loved the moments when the water splashed in! Our guide, Reagan was amazing! Knowledgeable, upbeat, and wonderful with kids. We felt completely safe and had so much fun. Highly recommend this experience to any family looking to create unforgettable memories outdoors!
What a fun visit! My mom and I paddled the mid Madawaska with this crew on the Adventure Raft. This place is cool because every single person was friendly and fun, safety briefings and preparation were top notch, and the morning was made into a whole ✨experience.✨ They didn’t just throw you in a raft & send you down the river. We got to stop off at spots and jump in and swim. One of the best experiences of my life! Such a beautiful river too.
Phenomenal experience doing the 5-day whitewater kayaking course with coaches Alex Aiden and Quinn! Such great coaches who are very skilled. Highly recommend.
The instruction was outstanding. The team was knowledgeable, supportive, and knew exactly how to challenge each person at the right level. I used to paddle years ago, but hadn’t been on the water much recently, and they did a great job helping me ease back in while still pushing me to improve and gain confidence. Thanks Zac!!! The food was also phenomenal. Every meal was delicious and healthy, honestly some of the best meals I’ve had. You can tell they care about the whole experience, not just the paddling. If you’re looking to build skills, reconnect with the river, or just enjoy some great instruction in a beautiful setting, I can’t recommend MKC enough. I’ll definitely be back!
The 4 of us had a great time today! We did the family adventure tour with Ember as our guide. It was mama, dada, Gus(7) and grandma. We all loved it!!!! Ember was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable. We even got to see Jim Carey’s cousin’s cottage and heard about the cottage cheese factory ghost cows!!!!!
I took a 5-day intermediate/advanced solo canoe course last week and had a fantastic time. It is not easy to find excellent instructors for such a niche sport, but Jerome was amazing. The four of us in the class came in with quite different skill levels (because the Intermediate designation covers a wide band of competence). Jerome made sure each of us was challenged at our individual levels, provided excellent feedback, and was unfailingly kind throughout the course. MKC itself fosters a culture of kindness and excellence of service throughout its operations. Highly recommended.

it’s a hidden gem, lot of house decor stuffs in various themes
Absolutely lovely shop, fun and helpful staff! Everything you could possibly imagine! Gemstones, alpaca shawls, funky clothing, gift ware and more! The labradorite was especially gorgeous!
Very unique, fun and funky store! Great for gift ideas and even buying something different for myself. Love everything in the store, from crystal selection, fashion, assessories, home decoratives to furnitures. Very busy in the weekend. The staff specifically the gentleman was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!
If you're ever in Barry's Bay you have to visit Grumbling Granny's. The art work is amazing. They have a great variety of products there.
I'm slowly on my way to recreating the store at my house. I'm obsessed with everything there. The owners are so nice and friendly. I go there for all my gifts and usually end up buying myself a couple things each time. So in love with everything! Got this little cutie for mother's day!
A wonderful place, my wife fell in love with it. So many amazing pieces of art and crystals to list here.
I've been visiting Grumblin' Granny's for years now. My kids love coming here if only to look at the many, MANY different items for sale. The staff is ever so helpful. I bought a dragon mounted on a crystal ball. After expressing my love of dragons, I was shown many others that I had completely missed! They even brought out a huge kite and a walking stick, both dragon themed!! The store has everything! From clothing and headwear to crystals and incense to classic tourist memorabilia and world wide ethnic items, too numerous to mention. I'd suggest a visit, even if you are just driving thru Barry's Bay on the way to Algonquin Park. You will love it!!
Me and my family went to both stores located in Barry's Bay and the one headed into town which had bigger pieces of furniture and paintings, I think acted as a discount store. Both stores were very interesting to go to. Lots of fun items and organized. All pictures are from the discount store.

Park in Barry's Bay dedicated to Zurakowski and the Arrow. Plenty of plaque boards full of information. With a stop to learn about this part of Canadian history. There is plenty of parking.
Loved learning about this amazing aviator. Great information. The park is just small.
A little bit of history passing through Barry's Bay.
A very classy and poignant Park celebrating the amazing life of a Polish Canadian test pilot. Jan Zukowski often slides under the radar screen but do yourself a favor and research is amazing life.
A very well-maintained little "triangular"-shaped park with a famous fighter-jet model and pilot. Discovered it by chance during our drive down to Parry Sound from Ottawa. Nice kiosk and garden.
It is a small park but a great tribute to this Polish Canadian trailblazer instrumental to the success of the Avro Arrow ( Diefenbaker be darned!) Great place to sit down and enjoys some fries, see life go by and learn some history while you're at it.
Nice little park. Lots of information about the Avro Arrow, and the story around it. A gazebo with a picnic table is an option to sit down and eat. Street parking only.
I love this memorial park, definitely a stop in Barry's Bay, love this town ❤ !

For our 2nd Anniversary, we decided to give this place a try after reading all perfect reviews. And oh Boy! we are glad that we went on this 4 hour ATV tour. What a fantastic experience filled with beautiful places to see and thrilling terrains to drive on! The ATVs are well maintained and seemed to able to climb/drive just on anything. We had never driven an ATV before but our guide Steve was very knowledgeable and taught us everything about ATV riding and made sure we had an adventurous time on our 4 hour trail. Steve really cares about his customers and gives them full attention and makes sure that everyone is okay and having a wonderful time. You don't meet good people often but when you'd meet Steve you would know that you have met a good Person. He is great.a passionate man, who really enjoys what he does. Don't hesitate to go on this tour- Just book and go. You will have an AMAZING time and will remember it for years. It was the best tour I've had in my life. Thank you Steve for making the tour as amazing as it was! Looking forward to coming again in the Fall and seeing the leaves and forest in changing colors.
If you are thinking about doing this, just book it. We did a two hour ride and it was great. Worth every penny. Steve is a great guide, knowledgeable about the area and very personable. His machines are well kept and straight forward drive. If you have done some atv riding in the past and enjoyed it, I would recommend the 4 hour ride. Algonquin is Beautiful, that goes without saying and one of the best ways to see its landscapes is through Valley Adventure Tours.
First of all I would like to say that riding an ATV or driving a UTV is not new to me. But Steve gave my wife, brother and two nephews the most amazing time that I could ever imagine. The trails we're fantastic, the scenery was amazing and Steve's knowledge and hospitality was second to none. The machines were a blast to drive and very safe for just about any age. Snacks and water were provided at every stop..... seriously I can't get the smile off my face. And that goes for the whole crew! Can't wait to leave from a different spot next time and do this year after year! Thank you Steve for an experience I (we) will never forget! Well I told Steve I would leave another review but I just didn't think it would be a year after our second ride. So my wife wanted to do a fall tour to celebrate our anniversary.....yes I said it was my wife's idea. We had been for a summer tour just a couple of months ago and here we were driving 5 1/2 hours from upstate NY to visit with valley adventure tours once again. Well Steve didn't disappoint. So we left from a different location this time and the scenic overlooks and private lakes coupled by the fall foliage was absolutely breathtaking. Guess we are going to have to make a snowmobile and spring tour in the near future. Thanks again Steve for a great time! Seriously people don't miss out on this amazing experience!
We did this on July 24, 2018. The side by sides are super great, but we opted to each drive our own as we had a private tour with Steve that day. Great choice! Steve’s an excellent guide and host who knows the area well and the 4x4s can handle anything. We sure got it. From sweeping creek/lakeside trails, steep, rocky climbs/descents, muddy spots and everything in between. And the views! Wow!! You get the best vistas of ‘The Valley’ anywhere and the mix of riding/rest time was perfect. We did the Tom’s Lookout tour, and will do the longer four hour loop when we come back next year. If you’re in The Valley visiting, vacationing (or whatever), we highly recommend doing a tour with Steve. Worth every penny.
My husband and I booked an ice fishing trip with Steve at the end of December during our stay near Algonquin park and could not have asked for a more amazing experience! Steve is very knowledgeable in the area and knows what spots to go to for the best fishing and overall experience. We exchanged several emails and phone calls leading up to our trip as Steve wanted to make sure we spent the day catching fish and have the best experience! He spent time checking the various lakes nearby for what spots were good and which were not. It's not often that a business goes above and beyond like this to ensure the customers have an unforgettable time, Steve definitely did!! Thank you again for such a great time, we would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for something fun to do in that area and look forward to coming back again soon!
Great host! Thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of the trails. Steve was very layed back and let us go at our own pace. Stopped at beautiful look outs. He knows the ways inside and out! We’ve done many tours of this sort in various counties and this was by far our favourite! Great all around to book, tour and even enjoyed a drink after! Will definitely be back.
Saturday, July 28. We had a fantastic time with Steve and his Valley Adventure Tours! He is extremely knowledgeable about the terrain, the trails, and the machines, and he shares that information easily. We had everything that day: beautiful scenery, warm sunshine, cold(ish) rain, rocks, mud, and a great experience with friends and family. We're looking forward to doing this again, and recommend these tours for everyone. Thanks Steve!
We went for a ½ day outing with valley adventure tours and really enjoyed ourselves. The machines are a perfect balance of powerful/fun and safe. We stopped at many beautiful spots to enjoy the scenery along the route & even went for a quick swim in a remote lake. Steve was very easy going and professional. We look forward to booking another tour with Valley Adventure Tours in the near future. It was worth every penny!

Just passed this Lake in fall 2019. Look how beautiful it looks
From Provincial website: Park Facilities: The park is gated and only accessible by foot. There is no camping, however the lake provides opportunities for swimming and canoeing.
Lovely. The park itself is one of Ontario's rural beauties. The fact that it is situated near a lake helps with the calming atmosphere. Any outdoor enthusiast should definitely take time to visit this place.
Google GPS is way off. Carson Lake Provincial Park has been closed for years. Sorry, Google, the park is still closed (permanently).
Beautiful place, like all the lakes in the region. Good fishing too!
Great swimming hole!
Nice drive on hwy 60 for fall foliage, that's all I did
This place has not been open or available to the public. No camping, etc.

Beautiful wilderness, water and bush
Great park. My research said this was an unmanaged park, but discovered one prepared campsite and one picnic area so far. I was early in the season, so had the place to myself. Easiest access is by boat. I came in via Spectacle Lk using the ATV trails (mid-april) but it was not an easy hike. Many deadfalls and washed out bits of trail. I imagine that the trails are much easier mid-summer onwards once the trails have been cleared.
Nature at its best.
