This is a great recreational provincial park with lots of activities. The park is on the smaller side, relatively speaking; but, there are plenty of trails and beaches, including a dog beach. Kayaks, canoes pedal boats and even fishing equipment are available for rent. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend getting a lakefront site. The view from our site was stunning; it really made our experience all the more enjoyable. The lake itself is calm and beautiful; perfect for kayaking/canoeing. This was probably the best kayaking experience I've had at a provincial park yet! The only negative about this park is that it's located very close to the highway, as such, there's a fair amount of noise, especially at night. It's a small price to pay for an otherwise wonderful experience!
Beautiful park. We came here for a hike while staying and close by awenda provincial park. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The park store was awesome and fully stocked. The trail we did started out just walking through campsites on the road but as soon as we hit the woods it was so beautiful. The trail was about 5km and took just over an hour. There are lots of great spots for pictures. To enter the park for day they charge you by car it's $18 which is a fantastic price for a full day. They had a few beaches and the lake looked amazing. Will be booking a walk in campsite here next year.
Although I didn't have the opportunity to camp here just yet it was a great experience visiting the park. Site privacy was lacking from my small walkaround. The Park store is adorable. Parking was limited on the beach areas which is mostly my fault for showing up at 11am in hopes in kayaking at such nice beaches for swimming on a gorgeous day. Trails were fun which I did partake in those. Not too lengthy but enough a challenge to get the heart rate up a bit! Will return to kayak for sure!
Would rate 3.5, for muddy beaches not for slightly rainy days too. We’re in the campsite no8 and the nearest washroom was closed and have to go around 700 m for washroom. Beautiful scenery and perfect for boating kayaking, fishing lake not so clean.
Well maintained provincial park with many amenities! The good: The provincial park is not far off the 400. The attendants were friendly and checked us in quickly, providing us a handy map. Our site was reviewed as poor on the Ontario Parks website and I would agree. This isn't the parks fault, it's just it's location. I used the washroom and shower facilities, which were clean. We had a nice night and packed up and left the next day. The bad: Highway noise
Our campsite was near the highway, so a little bit noisy. But there are many beautiful sites here. Trails were easy and kayaking was good.
Nice hiking trails; there are three small beaches where you can launch kaya and paddle board. The quality of the beach is not very good. There aren’t many motor boats and the water is calm, good for SUB. The flush washrooms are a luxury.
This park has a few bonuses being close to everything and being near such a beautiful body of water but I definitely wasn't impressed with the camp site layouts, we walked along the road and some of the sites you could almost reach over and touch people's picnic tables the road itself was so busy you would never want to have small kids along it cars are continuously driving by way too quick even the park staff in side by sides were driving way to fast. Most of the sites you'd be hard pressed to find enough flat area for any tents bigger than a 6 person .I understand utilizing all the available space but to me it felt like they just wanted to pack as many people in as possible. The only bonus was the rental setup for canoes and paddle boards,it was done quickly and everything was set up right by the canoes themselves. It's a park you need to visit once. I won't be back.
