Great little stopped to visit. well-maintained little spot.
Wilno is a fantastic place to discover. It highlights the hardworking spirit of the Polish people around the world, including here in Canada. The difficulties encountered in building homes in a completely remote area in 1858 must have been considerable, yet it transformed into a thriving agricultural community. I am very proud of my Polish roots. We visited for the 2nd time, never had a chance to visit inside of museum. So keep it in mind the hours of operation 11-4pm.
Lots of helpful info on the early families , even photos of a cousins old homestead.
Disappointed that Google, Facebook and the website states open 11am-5pm, only to find out that they are actually open 10am -4pm. We had made reservations for 5pm at the Wilno Tavern across the road and we had planned to visit the museum before that. When we arrived it was closed. We are an hour drive away, so it was upsetting. We did walk the grounds and it was nice but were unable to go into any buildings or learn about the heritage and history.
I went to the museum in hope of finding a book that explains some of my family history. The young man working was amazing. He had the book and I happily purchased. As I explained my journey in search of my grandparents graves he shared ideas and even offered to help search. My father is of Kashub heritage and reading about his families journey to Canada has brought me closer than ever to our beginnings. Thanks so much for your knowledge and passion for the Polish Kashub Heritage.
We visited Wilno & the museum in the summer of 2017 while camping in Algonquin Prov. Park. My family has Kashub Heritage. I visited with 3 of my brothers & a nephew. The museum was very nice & the grounds are beautifully maintained. The lovely lady running the museum was very friendly & informative and even told us how to correctly pronounce KASH-ub. We all bought books, hats & tees from a very nice gift shop. Would love to return during the annual Kashub festival. Thank you again for your hospitality shown to my family during our visit to your little gem. Also an excellent meal across the street at the Polish restaurant where the ladies had us laughing during our visit. (Polish beer too!)
Although the site was closed when we visited, it was very interesting. You can wander around the small park and still take in the Polish culture. There are several pieces of art worth seeing.
Really enjoyed this museum and the history associated! We are new to the area and proud to now call it home.

Beautiful historic church with a lot of character. Cool curved church pews. Feels like a quaint magical place. Well cared for and maintained graveyard. Easy to miss on the road as it's up a little hill. No parking lot so we just parked on the side of the road. Clean, bright outhouse. A few benches around to sit and rest. A cute little place for a small wedding.
A beautiful spot. The anniversary service is a highlight of the summer. Make sure to read about the history of Rockingham and the church.
Adorable village with amazing scenery, a quaint old church to visit and secret waterfalls for swimming. Rockingham is a hidden gem.
What an amazing church with historic significance! The locals work hard to keep it up to date, I was here a decade ago and heard ghost children outside. Original organ still in tact within the building. If youre passing through please stop and see for yourself how special this spot is. 100 stars!
It is a beautiful historic church I must say. The only down fall was my GPS was able to direct us there but we lost signal to get out of the wooded area ugh quite a few miles. Thank god there were some friendly local lumber jacks in the area to direct us out.Wii definitely sucks out there🤦 I guess it's a common thing in that area. So be aware if you do not know the area!!!!
Super cool old church that sits up on a hill a short walk from the road. It's open to visit inside.
Beautiful little church turned into an historic site with great interpretative information. There are also interesting grave stones from the original Rockingham settlers on the grounds. Well worth the a visit!
Lovely place to visit, filled with history. Well worth the drive for a quiet, beautiful afternoon. The hill is quite steep, so bring good shoes.
