This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The views from the top are stunning and when you go down and ride around, it takes your breath away!. It has a wide variety of animals, flora and fauna. There is a nice little coffee stop area with ample toilets and is an ideal spot for a picnic. There are a number of birds all around. There are water bodies scatters around all over the place and you can see flamingos and other stunning animals.
Wow! The crator had literally everything we wanted to see! The only animal we didn’t see was the Rhino which is a super rare of the Big 5! The size of this national park is insane! We saw all animals from SUPER close up! Yes I’m certain we got lucky at times but that still doesn’t take away the magic you experience in this beautiful park. I’m grateful for Travel Wise and allowing us to have the best travel / safari experience. I loved every moment especially with how comfortable the wild animals are of the vehicles since they know the jeeps aren’t a threat to them and are neutral therefore they just hang out in their natural habitat. Thank you!
This crater is incredibly interesting from both a geological and natural history point of view. It is the haven for many species of animals including some of those of the most endangered species, in particular the black Rhino. Having been to the crater on three different occasions over the last 6 years the Black Rhino is the hardest to get close to see and obtain good photos. All the other animals are in a abundance and offer many opportunities to photograph. The accomodations at the lodges up on the rim are fabulous, and of course the views spectacular into the crater. They also offer some interesting evening entertainment. Another worthwhile adventure is the rim walk with a ranger.
Quite an amazing experience. Saw the last of the big five here. The Rhino. !! Also saw an amazing flock of flamingos, lion, zebras and wildebeest and a serval cat.
Wow, a trip to Tanzania is certainly not complete without visiting the Crater. The density of wildlife is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We saw 4 of the Big 5. Including a black rhino, which was truly a life changing event. We saw what may be the biggest lion that I’ve seen. It could not have been a better experience one thing to note is that the main focus of visiting Ngorongoro is to see the rhinos, so be ready to help your guide and group to spot one. Unfortunately the rhino I saw was too far so I couldn’t photograph it but here are some more photos.
Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the "Garden of Eden," is a stunning geological marvel and a UNESCO World Heritage site located in northern Tanzania. It is the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world, formed by the collapse of a giant volcano around 2.5 million years ago. The crater spans approximately 260 square kilometers and reaches depths of up to 610 meters, creating a unique, enclosed ecosystem that supports a wide range of wildlife. The crater floor is home to a dense concentration of animals, making it one of the best places in the world for a wildlife safari. It hosts a diverse range of species, including elephants, lions, zebras, wildebeests, and the rare black rhino. The area also supports numerous bird species, such as flamingos and ostriches, attracted to the crater's soda lakes and grasslands. Its compact size and varied landscapes, from lush forests to open savannah, make it an ideal setting for spotting wildlife in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. Beyond its wildlife, the Ngorongoro Crater is of immense archaeological significance. It is part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which also includes the Olduvai Gorge, a major paleoanthropological site where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered. The region is home to the Maasai people, who have lived alongside wildlife for centuries, maintaining a delicate balance between conservation and traditional pastoralism. Visitors to Ngorongoro can experience its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage, while also enjoying the opportunity to witness one of Africa’s most impressive wildlife sanctuaries. The crater’s unique ecosystem continues to be a focal point for conservation efforts worldwide.
Perhaps the best scenery in the world to spot animals. Make sure you come early.
Stunning beauty and animals but an absolute DEATH TRAP of a road in and out of the crater! Beware! Accidents are plentiful and often covered up!!

Was a great stop between Serengeti and Ngoro Ngoro, learnt some basic information about evolution but it was just more an experience to be where a lot of the excavations happened!
This was my favorite spot we stopped in Tanzania! The history is incredible, and the views of the archaeological site are out of this world. The tour guide provided just the right amount of guidance and context, and then let us explore the exhibits on our own. The exhibits themselves were well laid out and very informative. So worth the stop to learn more about our history!
Very interesting place, greeted by two enormous skulls, comparing the first known humans to "handy man" human. It is possible to travel farther into the site and see the first human footprint every discovered. There's a few drinks for sale from a vendor outside and bathrooms in generally good/clean order.
A Must stop if you are heading towards the Serengeti National Park! Blow my mind on the history of early man! I’ve been reading about the Leakey’s and their work and research my whole life. When my safari driver told me we were stopping by a museum on the way to Serengeti I thought to myself, I want to see wildlife! What kind of a museum is out in the middle of Africa? What an unexpected and pleasant surprise to visit Olduvai! Don’t miss it on the way to Serengeti!
Amazing museum. Enjoyed the way things were layed out.
We stopped here on our way to Serengeti National Park. The exhibits were well prepared and the facilities were nice after a long drive. We did a walk down into the gorge to see where the fossils and bones were found starting in the 1950's. The walk was nice for the exercise, but there was really nothing to except a post marking the site. We ate our lunch in the shady gathering area and enjoyed the view from the pavilion. Probably worth a stop just to break up the drive.
Amazon museum that's well worth a visit. The views of the Olduvai Gorge are stunning and very rare to see such a high vantage point with the canyon valley below. The museum itself is very informative and setup well with lots of artifacts, English descriptions and quick wi-fi as well. It's a great spot to finish lunch as well.
Great place to learn about the evolution of mankind.

We had an Amazing Time! Everything was organized so very well and we felt very happy that we chose this Company fo our Safari to Lake Natron, Tarangire and Serengeti. We saw so many beautiful Animals, Landscapes and stayed in very nice locations. Benjamin is the best Driverguide who knows a lot about the Animals and Tadey, our Chef, was also incredible. We had a 3 course meal every evening, it was always so good! Thank you Magreth and Team for an unforgettable Experience!
