Definitely worth a visit. We visited it during a Cruise stop. Do to heavy traffic on route and long line for the Cable Cars, could not plan a lot of visits during our stop but glad we made this one. Beautiful views from the top.
THIS CABLE CAR SERVICE IS CLOSED. Don’t know why it still says it is opened on Google Maps. The people there told that it will not be operational for the next 2.5 years. There is bus service that takes you to the mountains which cost us around 20 USD for one person. The ride is good but you won’t get much time to spend on the mountain near the statue. The price of the souvenir was little high in the stores near the statue.
The place is beautiful, but beware of the famous Tour guides, they tell they work for the park and blah blah, they have uniforms and everything but theyxare not employees they are locals looking to make and extra buck. The machine is been down for a long time. Honestly google the mountain for directions no need of a tour guide. They see you as a tourist and they jacked up the prices. Do not buy in the souvenirs stores they are not worth it.
Still closed. I went to a tourist spot and asked the teller. She advised it’s been closed a year because people don’t want to pay to use the cable car. She said probably for two more years. Her English was good and my Spanish is dreadful but I relayed on what I was told. I drove up to the gate at about 3pm on a Wednesday and took the below photo.
Cable car was not working so we drove to the top Amazing view of the city
Nice affordable activity to do with your family. Once at the top, there is a spectacular view and you can walk along the paths through the gardens and to the caves and lagoon. I gave 4 stars because the directions to these sites are really not very specific. It took us a while and many wrong turns before we got to the caves 🙃🙃🙃
Views are amazing if you are driving a rental or coming you dont need any person in a green polo taking you up. You are good with just taking yourself up. At the top there is a hike on the top that takes you around the area to show you the water falls, typical Dominican house of the past, and natural areas as well. Also the shops at the top way over charge like 20+ dollars for things that are worth 3 dollars else where. Always bargain.
Amazing ride to top! Beautiful tropical area with lots of paths, a traditional kitchen, pond, and observation areas. We spent 2.5 hours exploring the area. A lot cheaper to buy tickets on-site versus with a tour.

Water park
Nature & Parks
Flashy attraction featuring multiple animal encounters, like swimming with sharks & dolphins.
Slide 1 of 8
I can not say enough good things about this place! We booked this excursion when I was on a cruise with Carnival, and we spent the day at this park. It was absolutely beautiful. There are so many things to do for children little and older. There is a pool, a lagoon, a water obstacle course, shows featuring sharks seals dolphins and you can even snorkel with fish, you can swim with dolphins. The opportunities are endless not to mention the buffet was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this!! They also get amazing photos and videos of whatever encounter you do! Enjoy!!! Sorry for the crazy sentences i am just excited to share! lol
Excellent experience at Ocean World Adventure Park! Amazing Staff in every area (shout out Robin Santos with Guest Services and Yann with the Dolphin Swim). Park is well-maintained, clean and beautiful all around. The Dolphin Swim was super fun, interactive and overall, great experience! I would definitely visit again anytime. Great people, tasty food, nice ambience and spectacular views.
Great time all around. Do the experiences! Yes they cost a bit, but well worth it. And get the pictures too. Again, yes they are expensive but those are awesome memories. Staff was awesome and very friendly, helpful, funny, and personable. Skip the buffet though, totally not worth it. Definitely recommend the dolphin and sea lion experience.
There was a little misunderstanding at the reception — my husband thought that by paying for the dolphin encounter he would be able to take photos of us, but it turned out that phones were not allowed in the area at all. He was very upset, and the situation could have completely ruined our visit. Thankfully, supervisor Juan L. Rojas stepped in and handled everything with true professionalism, patience, and a sincere smile. Juan L. Rojas turned what could have been a disappointing experience into one of the highlights of our trip. He is a true professional who knows exactly how to treat guests and resolve issues with grace and respect. This is the kind of attitude that makes people want to come back again and again. Thanks to him, we left with wonderful memories, amazing photos, and a deep appreciation for the way he handled the situation. He truly deserves recognition and a well-earned bonus! 🌟
Great place to go if you are in Puarto Plata, just 10min away with taxi from Taino Bay. A bit expensive, if you are coming here as a cruise passenger. Anyhow nice place to relax by man made beach, or use the pools. Day pass includes lunch.
Fantastic experience. Martin was a great guide and the trainers were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and made the experiences so much fun. Dolphins, sea lions, sharks, birds and capybara!
Amazing place we got to swim with the dolphins then go swimming there was a bird sanctuary there really cool also they had sharks stingrays and capbra just a fun place
Wow, wow, wow! Fantastic place play and to eat. The food was absolutely top-notch! The buffet is one time through, so fill up the plates! The rice amazing, veggies, fruit...wow! If you want to swim with dolphins, sting rays, sharks, snorkeling with tropical fish, or play at the private beach or water slides! You can also feed the birds and capybara's! So fun, safe, and delicious food and drinks. Johanny was absolutely amazing and so helpful, definitely sit in his section for vip treatment 🥰 The staff is so friendly while also keeping the little ones safe. Highly recommend! They have lockers and showers as well!

My husband and I did the waterfall excursion here during a cruise. They picked us up from Puerto plata, and we rode a bus to the location, and we're shuttled back to the port afterward. They provide life jackets, water shoes (for a price), and helmets for the 4xcursion. They also give you a locker with a key to store your belonging in for the duration of the hike. It was fairly hot the day we went, so they also gave you a water bottle for the hike. The hike was moderate, so if you have difficulty climbing steps or walking for a long time, I would not recommend this hike. It was fine for us, and they make stops along the way so you don't get too tired. The crew does a great job at keeping everyone safe and assists you with climbing if you need it. Some of the waterfalls have ladders to climb down, rocks to slide through, or spots to jump. The crew navigates it safely and gives your tips or demonstrations to make sure you know how to execute it safely. The water felt amazing on the hot day, and it was a milky blue color. They also take pictures and videos along the way of your group that you can purchase afterward. They email or text you the info for the picture afterward also, just in case you didn't have enough time to purchase them after the hike Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I definitely recommend it. They were very funny also, so it made the hike very memorable.
I booked through Ramon tours and paid $200 for 4 people, which included transportation from my resort which was a 40 minute drive. Ramon tours was great and we use them when we come to DR - highly recommended. As for the 27 waterfalls… the positives: our tour guide Charley was very good. Funny, went over safety rules (though his coworkers dove off the cliffs after telling us all how to jump feet first with our arms at our sides), explained about some of the local plants, kept everyone together and was engaging and personable. The slides and jumps were fun. We had a great time. We had a “smaller” group so that was good because some of the groups have 50+ people. The negatives: most of the activity is the hiking to and from the falls. We had 1 slide, then 1 jump/slide, 1 slide, then 1 jump. Walk around options at some of these spots. That’s it. Was over so quick. While it lasted it was very fun. I could see how a larger group would impact your experience. For the hike up to the falls: anyone with reduced mobility or not in decent condition will struggle. Our group was fine, but I could see how this would be a problem for some. Watch out it can very slippery on the mud and watch your footing on the rocks.
This was the greatest activity! There are several ways you can do this, you can book it as a cruise ship excursion where you'll pay for transportation, the tour, equipment, and lunch for about $70. We didn't need transportation so we just drove to the park and got lucky as there were no cruise ships that day and the parking lot was pretty empty. You can tell they usually run a lot of people through this place but there were about 15 of us. We paid for the guide, equipment including helmets and life vests (not water shoes though you can rent those too) the digital picture package, and lunch and with tip it probably cost us about $50 per person. There are no ATMs and it's cash only, though you can get cash back at the souvenir shop that takes credit cards for a percentage. As for the actual tour it was wonderfully fun. The hike isn't "easy" but anyone reasonably healthy should have no trouble and it's nice because it warms you up that when you arrive at the water it's not painfully cold. And it's beautiful country. There are actually only about 7 waterfalls, but it's completely breathtakingly beautiful. The only complaint is that the photo guide who takes pictures for the photo package tends to take more pictures of you than of the surroundings, which I would have preferred but that's minor. The guides were friendly, funny, and great. They knew what they were doing. If you're afraid to jump you can slide down the rocks or walk down ladders to pools below. Very safe. The lunch was pretty good, a buffet. I appreciated the salad options. So so fun!
Let me get some warnings out of the way first. There is a picture that someone else submitted of many waterfalls and a you see the back of a woman in the foreground— that is not a real picture — it is AI generated and not of the place at all— if you go by that picture you will be very disappointed. You need to be in decent shape because the humidity and heat combined with the walk, as well as up and down the stairs can be difficult. If you are afraid of heights, this may not be for you either because you will be on at least one high platform without railings and will need to climb down a ladder; also the water slides do not gently bring you to the water’s surface— you are dropped into the pool below and your head will go under water. If you’re are afraid of tight spaces, a couple of the water slides are narrow with rock walls to your sides. If you don’t want to get your hair wet or go under water, this is not for you; see my earlier comment. So let’s get to the review. We booked a tour to this through Viator because we wanted an easy experience of just going through one company for everything from transport, entry, and lunch and other things. The walk to the waterfalls is long and we did the first set of waterfalls; there is a lengthier set of waterfalls if you do the longer tour. We stopped multiple times with the tour for people to catch their breath and to rest. You will not only have to climb up steps, but for the last quarter of the walk to get to the slides, you will be walking down steep steps. I highly recommend closed-toe water shoes with very good traction. The steps going down will likely be wet, and while the steps are wooden, the wet wood becomes slick. Also be careful of the strips of tire that are at the edge of the steps— some of the strips are loose so if you rely on stepping on it or anchoring your foot against it, your foot can slip. To get to the first slide, you have to go down a wooden ladder that is slanted to the side. Then you get to slide down your first slide. It is super narrow so follow directions of your guide. The pool at the bottom is deep. You can’t reach the bottom, even if you are 6’3”. You will walk between pools over uneven footing. Overall it was fun and felt safe. Take a moment to look around you at the surroundings. It’s beautiful there. There’s also signs that tell you not to carve into the rocks to keep the scenery pristine. You can’t take anything with you— no backpack, hats, etc. they don’t recommend taking your phone unless it is in a waterproof container. You can hire someone to follow you and take pics but it is highly dependent on your photographers skills and in our case it was not worth it— pics were out of focus, flash too strong, dark pics, etc.
Absolutely stunning! We did a 7 falls tour with Camel Safari tours, and our host Juan was excellent! We got a bit of an additional driving tour of Puerto Plata, and he set us up with everything we needed. The nature at the park is stunning, and depending on the water level, each fall can be slid down, or jumped down. Amazing experience all around!
Did 7 waterfalls during the low season and still found this to be a great and worthwhile adventure and very affordable. The photographer session was reasonable too at 45$ to follow and shoot some great shots
Excellent place to have fun and a little extreme for those who like yo feel the adrenaline a bit. Options is less or shorter route. You’ll love it
Multiple people smashed their heads, they sent hundreds of us at once, people almost drowned. It was a terrible experience. If you can go by yourself it might be fun, but unfortunately they crammed us in with hundreds of people and didn’t have any regard for anyone’s safety. We also waited 3 hours just to get to the waterfalls.

The inside is full of typical pushy gift shops. But the outside is amazing. Great view!
Great Views in this place you can see Puerto Plata and the shore from here , great walk to see some local flora and fauna you can either walk go by car or take the lift i recommend the latter is over all a great experience
Breathtaking views. My first time in a Cable Car, AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Especially considering it was my first time out of the country. Definitely can’t wait to go back and visit again!! One of the highlights of my trip!
Amazing views. We ended up driving rather than taking the cable car. Steep road but rental car had no problems. Make sure to make time for the trails.
Very beautiful place
Amazing location for adventure and photos. Friendly staff and overall experience was breathtaking. Going up to the mountain, you will need a good vehicle with a big engine such as a 4X4 because the strain on the engine as the altitude increases.
The highest view I've been to in a while. The air was thin and it was cold but the view was amazing. Try and stop by one of the shops and get some of the Mamajuana!

Spanish fort dating to the late 1500s & built to defend against pirates, with history displays.
Slide 1 of 8
This fort is in San Felipe Park which is a short walk from the cruise ship port. The sidewalk is skinny in places so not accessible for wheelchairs. Once at the park it’s easy walking to get to the fort itself. Who wouldn’t like seeing a Spanish fort dating to the late 1500s which was built to defend against pirates. The fort was completed in 1577. There is a $2 per person fee and you get a headset so you can listen to the story of the fort. My headset didn’t work well. I think it was a bad cable or the audio port. It was fine as the fort is interesting with lots of things to look at and read. Like most of the Dominican, the fort could use money to fix things up. It’s a great place to get photos of the water, beaches and cruise ship port. There are public bathrooms in the fort.
Not only is the first interesting and historically significant, you should go there just for the history alone, but there's a beautiful view and a great breeze off the water to keep things cool and comfortable. It was about 100 pesos and worth the price to get to see the views from the turrets. There is parking and there are public bathrooms too, and souvenir stalls too if you like that kind of thing.
Well maintain, nice to walk and not feel like a tour is going to ask for a fee or approach you. Beautiful place from puerto plata and full of a lot of potential.
The San Felipe Fort was a stop on our private tour of Puerto Plata. If you’ve been to San Juan and seen the large fort there, this is much smaller, but very similar in age and stone composition. Over 450 years old, it is on a cliff next to ocean so there are plenty of great views. You can also buy tickets to go through it for a half hour tour.
Stopped here on a cruise excursion. Well kept area.
It's a beautiful place overlooking the ocean with an awesome history.
Nice site you can easily walk there
This place is really neat. It only cost $1.00 USD to get in and walk around. Nice views of the harbour and sea. Just a nice piece of history to enjoy for about 45 minutes or so. Lots of local peddlers around trying to sell their wares. I love chatting them up and buying a few trinkets.

Museum in a Victorian building featuring insects preserved in amber & a shop selling amber jewelry.
Slide 1 of 8
The Dominican Amber Museum truly exceeded my expectations. It’s located in a beautiful old Victorian house that gives the whole visit a unique charm. I learned so much about amber, and seeing ancient insects trapped inside pieces that are millions of years old was amazing. The famous blue amber—found only in the Dominican Republic—is absolutely stunning. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the tour enjoyable and informative. There's also a lovely little shop with genuine amber jewelry. Perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers. Definitely a must-see if you're in Puerto Plata!
The Amber Museum, and it was so much more than I expected! 🏛️✨ Seeing fossilized insects inside the amber and learning about the process of how it's made was absolutely fascinating. 🐞🪨 It’s a great place to admire these beautiful stones while getting a history lesson. One of my favorite parts? Finding out that an amber piece from this museum was borrowed for the Jurassic Park movie! 🦖🎥 No wonder the museum’s logo looks so similar to the movie's. Highly recommend visiting—it’s an unforgettable experience!
Very fun museum with incredible amber specimens. The Jurassic park logo was inspired here. There’s also a nice exhibit on making cigars. Takes make 45 mins to see everything.
This is a short but really interesting visit to Learn from this gorgeous stone. Kind staff, fun facts, and lots to learn.
The visit to this museum was fascinating. They have many interesting amber specimens. On top of that, a piece of the museum was also developed as a cigar factory, which was unexpected. You could see live the process of bonding a cigar - an amazing adventure, I recommend it.
This is a wonderful museum located inside a beautiful historic house. Our guide, Gustavo, was friendly, informative, and he expressed pride in his job. There are some amazing examples of prehistoric amber, an interesting presentation on cigar making, and a gift shop with actual quality items. I highly recommend visiting when in Puerto Plata, but don’t confuse this quality museum with the lower quality, tourist trap, ‘Amber Mine Museum’ or you will likely be very disappointed.
Interesting enough but not what I would go out of my way to see. This was one of the stops in the Cruise land tour package we purchased.
EDITED TO ADD: The tour is longer now. And includes a section about how cigars are made. It was an OK addition to the tour. If you are sensitive to smells, this might bother you. But I do believe you can skip that part (since it's at the end). ORIGINAL POST: We really enjoyed it. The tour is about 20 to 25 minutes. Very informative and fun. They are doing some construction work, so hopefully when it's done it'll be more amazing. There are a couple areas with some great looking trees, but because of construction and remodeling, we just walked through. Lots of fun... and close to Central Park.

It’s a decent cruise port to stop at. It’s a dock port which makes it nice. Lot of tourist shopping at the port. Taxi service is good. Several good restaurants to eat local food. Relaxed atmosphere on the island. For a cruise day stop it’s fun but can’t see staying more than half a day. Island is very small.
I'm not real big on excursions. I love chilling at the ports, shopping, or listening to the island sounds of a local musician or vibing by the pool as the DJ spins the tunes. Amber Cove is one of my favorite ports as it offers all of the above with a cute little cafe that serves great deserts and amazing coffee. I literally can spend all day there. I highly recommend a cruise that stops at Amber Cove. You won't be disappointed.
We don't do excursions. I have seen more than enough movies to know better than to venture out into unknown countries. Especially considering its next to a country that is at war with itself. The port however was very nice. Plenty of shops and things to do.
Carnival Cruise docked here. Outside the cruise, you will only find Carnival's ship excursions, and you can pay for them with your key card. No outside vendors. We paid for a 4-hour city tour and a 2-hour beach visit: $40 per adult and $30 for kids. It was a nice tour with a beautiful beach. There were free chairs and umbrellas at the beach. Clean toilets, showers and a restaurant.
A Beautiful side of the dominican Republic, worth the cruise as a first stop. Catamaran and snorkel was great, good. Lunch also and lots of fun. Crew was amazing on our excursion.
We spent most of our time in the large pool but definitely enjoyed amazing bar service delivered poolside! Some of us Ziplined across the rest of us in the pool. Lots of fun!
This is one of the best cruise ports that I have been to. It us clean and you are not getting heckled be every vendor. The pool, swim up bar, slide, and zip lines are great.
Came here from the Carnival Vista. Unless you get off early then you will have a very hard time finding a place by the pool. No close beaches and expensive shops. Just stay on your boat at this port.

I booked this vacation through Booking.com expecting a relaxing, all-inclusive stay at Lifestyle Resort (also listed as Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa Resort). The photos looked beautiful and promised meals, drinks, free Wi-Fi, and parking — everything you want for a nice family trip. Sadly, the reality was completely different. At check-in, we were told Wi-Fi and even the room safe required extra payment. We were then taken by cart to a completely different area that looked nothing like the pictures. The room smelled of mold, some lights didn’t work, and the air conditioner barely cooled. It stayed hot and humid the entire week, and our clothes and passports even warped from the moisture. We reported the issues multiple times, but guest services never fixed anything. There was also no hot water during our entire stay. The “all-inclusive” package was misleading. Many restaurants, drinks, and amenities were off-limits unless you were a VIP guest — something we were never offered the chance to upgrade to. Instead, we were pushed into a timeshare-style presentation disguised as a “hotel tour.” When we refused to buy, the representative became rude and unprofessional, even telling us we couldn’t enjoy certain parts of the resort because we were “Cofresi guests.” To make matters worse, water began leaking from the ceiling light above our bathtub, and another guest two rooms away had her room flooded. Maintenance and customer service were nonexistent. Overall, this resort looks beautiful online but delivers a very poor experience in reality. Between the hidden fees, bad maintenance, poor service, and discriminatory treatment, this was one of the most disappointing vacations I’ve had. I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again.
We had an amazing time here. The staff was top notch. I always felt safe and secure. The beach was pretty and the pools were great. The food was good and readily available (after 5 days I gained 2 pounds). The rooms were loud because of having no rugs. Our room had an adjoining door and their noise flowed freely into our room. The beds were incredibly hard. It felt like sleeping on the floor.
I just visited November 9-14. And the room was clean & tidy. The food was good except for two pieces of steak I had at Confresi restaurant. They were spoiled🤢🤢The people & workers were great overall😃😃Hola amigo!🇩🇴However, at the poolside & in various places near lifestyles resort, the music is played way too loud! Aye carumba!!! I couldn’t even hear my conversations. It was honestly overkill & my ears are still ringing. You can tell they are not trained with the music volume system. They were playing it so loud for what you would need at a stadium concert, the NFL😅or large beach! I think they thought they were with their college buddies & forgot that it’s meant to be a family setting. This resort has condensed poolside areas which makes the music amplify and echo for a much louder output. The VIP areas are blasting too 🔊💥 🔊💥🔊💥 🔊💥I was also walking & a worker was weed hacking & I got waxed with some debris & other peeps were shielding their faces. Because they use gas powered equipment (tools, golf carts( the place smells like gasoline ⛽️ all the time! It’s like a raceway,🏁which leads me into the last scenario. Also, they use golf carts to transport people, which the workers drive them like they are 🏁🏁go carts🏁🏁 around a track lol 😂 winning the 1st place 🥇prize 🏆 Absolutley thinking they are in a race! 😂It was fun for me because I like speed🤣🤣 🏎️💥& they got me like lightning speed to my destination was LMAO! but this is resort is not for the ones who prefer a more calm vacation-like ride…bring your seatbelts and 🪖 helmets ⛑️ for this one everybody- I saw one senior almost fall off bawww🤣🤣was LMAO😜Hope you had a good laugh with this review! Life is short, laugh a little! You will here or maybe not😔that’s for your to experience🏖️
It’s been almost a year since our stay at Cofresi Beach and Spa, and I still feel disappointed every time I think about it. This was supposed to be our one special family vacation of the year, and instead, it turned into one of the worst travel experiences we’ve ever had. We chose this resort because it was recommended by Sunwing, which makes this all the more frustrating. I’ve trusted Sunwing in the past, but after this experience, I won’t be booking with them again. The fact that they stand behind a resort in such poor condition is shocking. From the moment we arrived, the smell of diesel fuel from all the golf carts was unbearable. It was everywhere — by the pool, at the beach, outside the rooms. A year later, I can still remember that heavy, nauseating smell. The staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, which made it impossible to feel welcome or relaxed. The amenities were filthy — the pool was cloudy, the beach area littered and poorly maintained, and the general upkeep of the resort was far below acceptable standards. Our room was terrible: loud, unsafe for children, with no privacy and several things broken or barely working. It felt neglected and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, both my son and I got sick during our stay — something that has never happened to us at any other all-inclusive resort. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience truly ruined what should have been a joyful, memorable family trip. I expected far better from both the resort and from Sunwing. Save yourself the regret — spend your money elsewhere.
My husband and I spent two weeks at the cofresi palm for our honeymoon. We had a great relaxing time! Only problems were WiFi and our room had a leak in the ceiling. The guest services were able to help us get a new room without leaks. The entertainment staff were absolutely amazing. My husband and I went to the nightly shows every night at the colosseum. They were very professional and danced amazingly! We had so much fun doing the daily activities with the entertainment team like Zumba, meringue, bingo, silent night, and karaoke! The beaches were beautiful and the vip beach had spa tubs! The food was yummy and the drinks were great! Thank you to everyone who helped us have a great honeymoon, in cofresi reception Neylany Helps me I was in 42312.
DO NOT EVER stay here! Why this is listed as a 4 star property is beyond me maybe a 3 on a good day. If you’re used to top knotch service when it comes to meeting your needs you won’t find it here!!! They’re running the biggest scam making it seem like some great resort. They put you in the worst room possible and promise an upgrade just for it to be two buildings over and if you want a relaxing hot shower there’s no hot water. Then they practically Bully you into signing up for a package they start at 6k then they can someone get this great deal at 3K they promise you all this exclusiveness with a gold VIP wrist band. The shuttle only comes 25 minutes and we rarely saw it to top it off if you have someone with mobility issues DO NOT book here because they’re not accommodating. When you call reception they give you the run around. They give you this great treatment when you sign up then you have a “concierge” that does nothing directs you to reception or VIP services etc. I’m an avid traveler and this has been the worst service I have ever experienced and I own multiple time shares. Will NEVER stay here ever and can’t wait until we check out!
Stayed at Cofresi Palm Beach Resort from Oct 7–14, 2025 with 18 family members (9 rooms total). Sadly, this place hasn’t been updated in years. Our first rooms had leaking AC units, water dripping from the ceiling, cracked bathtubs, and no working showers. The phones didn’t work either. It took a full day for maintenance to show up, and the problems continued until we paid extra to upgrade rooms. We also paid $45 per person for Wi-Fi, which stopped working after we moved rooms, and the front desk staff were rude and dismissive every time we asked for help. On the bright side, the cart drivers, housekeepers, and buffet staff were incredibly kind and hardworking. Food was average but decent for the price — service at the restaurants was slow and often wrong. Overall, this resort has potential but feels neglected. Unless management renovates and improves customer service, you’re better off paying a little more to stay somewhere else.
I am staying at Cofresí Palm with a large group of over 20 guests for my sister’s wedding, and I can confidently say this has been one of the worst resort experiences we’ve ever had. Seriously here for 3 more days and I am requesting a refund and booking another resort. The customer service is absolutely terrible. The staff are rude, unaccommodating, and constantly give guests an attitude instead of offering any help. For a resort that claims to be “luxury,” the way they treat people is completely unacceptable. To give just one example: it was raining heavily one night, and a member of our group—a woman with two small children—asked for the shuttle service to help her get across the resort. Instead of assisting, the staff member outright told her “that’s not my problem.” She was forced to walk in the downpour with her kids, completely soaked. That level of disregard for guests is beyond disgusting. When you have 20+ people staying at a resort and every single one of them has had issues with staff behavior, that says everything you need to know. There is no hospitality, no care, and no basic respect for guests. If you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, or accommodating vacation experience, do yourself a favor and avoid Cofresí Palm / Lifestyle Resorts. The lack of service and the way they treat paying customers is disgraceful.

Beautiful Catholic Church, conveniently located at the heart of the original town and park. Enough spaces to be seated and parking safe in the area close by.
It’s beautiful but not as majestic as other cathedral I ever see in Europe or US
On a cruise from New York to the Caribbean last week. First stop was Puerto Lata in the Dominican Republic. We found this delete full old church on the town plaza. Very nice interior.
The San Felipe Cathedral is the main Church of Puerto Plata, visible from almost everywhere in town with its two bell towers. It dominates the classic central square of Spain colonial cities with the square in size Independence park occupied with many locals and so lively. The Cathedral stands on the site of the former 16 c one which was destroyed during the Independence war. New Cathedral has a modern architecture and nice stained glass. We were lucky to visit it during the Mass.
Very beautiful Parish. Well kept and very historical and open to receive anyone who wants to worship.
The cathedral is located next to Parque Central Independencia. The current structure was built in 1870. The original wooden building burned down during the Restoration in 1863. The cathedral has undergone a pair of renovations since then. The first took place from 1929, halted during the 1946 Dominican Republic earthquake and finished by 1956. The latest renovation repaired damage from the 2003 Dominican Republic earthquake and finished by 2008.
Beautiful church, would recommend a visit to see at least once.
Located on Independence Park (central part). You are allowed to enter and take pictures. There is a person trying to sell cross necklaces.

Excellent ocean swimming on the North coast of Dominican Republic. Mount Isabel de Torres provides protection from hurricanes, we are here during hurricane Melissa, Oct. 2025 and only have yellow flags along the beachfront. Great Beach.
Very nice stretch of beach. There are some coral rocks in some areas, and a lot of seaweed washes up, but they rake it and keep it clean. The beach itself is quiet and stretches for quite a distance and encompasses several resorts.
We had a really enjoyable day at this beach and would absolutely return, but there are a few things that kept it from being a full five-star experience. What truly stood out was the experience— not just in what was available, but in the people. The beach had a lively, local charm with vendors walking by offering everything from handmade chachkes and sunglasses to snacks, drinks, and even photo ops with animals like parrots and iguanas. It made the beach feel vibrant and alive, and our kids loved the excitement. There were plenty of options for relaxing — cabanas, beach chairs, and umbrellas were available to rent, and a full-service beachfront restaurant was just steps away. While we appreciated the convenience, everything came at an added cost and most of the facilities, including the chairs, cabanas, restrooms, and changing areas, could really use a refresh. They worked, but they were definitely showing their age. The food was okay — nothing to rave about, but good enough to keep us going through a day in the sun. What made the meal more enjoyable was the service. Our favorite waiter, **Christian**, was kind, funny, and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. He really elevated the whole experience. There are also lots of little shops nearby if you want to browse or pick up souvenirs, and the waves were perfect for swimming and playing. Overall, this beach has character, color, and charm — and with a few upgrades, it could easily be five stars.
In December and January the water was quite full of algae. Maybe it’s the season, I don’t know. Not in all the parts it was full with algae, but anyway it was disturbing. So, sometimes we were going to Sosua beach as it was wonderful there….
Great beach, not to crowed at the end of july, good for relaxing and enjoy the area.
I recently visited this beautiful white sand beach, and I must say, it's impeccably maintained despite the numerous resorts nearby. Arriving with a tourist group, we were delighted to find a designated area with beach chairs and umbrellas exclusively for tourists. The availability of tap water for a refreshing post-beach bath was a thoughtful touch. Additionally, the convenience of having a restaurant nearby serving snacks and drinks added to the overall enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this beach for a relaxing getaway.
Great beach. Water was 85. Food & drinks were good. Fresh water showers to clean up.
Stunning beach that is only accessible for the resorts in the Playa Dorada gated complex. Technically, locals can access it if they enter on the west side of the public beach and walk a couple of kilometers, but that's not an issue for me. Pristince sandy beaches with beautiful warm blue water with waves to jump in. There are kiosks to rent jetskis, parasailing, snorkel tours, etc.

I’m in love with this place 🥰
One of the most beautiful place in Puerto Plata. There's many attractive activities around there.
Very dirty and grimy
Like in most Caribbean towns, the Malecon is the first street running by the sea. This one in Puerto Plata runs for 3-4 km, passing by some older houses within the residential area. However, this part is not that interesting for tourists. More interesting is the far western part of Malecon by the San Felipe park and fortress (read that review). This part was reconstructed, is well guarded by police, safe and interesting to see.
This is a good plaza. Yes. I like it.
(Translated by Google) The boardwalk is very nice, it is quiet and clean. The only detail is that there was not much hygiene in the bathrooms (Original) El malecón está muy lindo, es tranquilo y limpio. El único detalle es que en los baños no hubo mucha higiene

We love it here, the vendors during the days it’s a open clear market are a lot of fun, many folks speak English. Feeding the pigeons is a great deal of fun and the kids enjoyed themselves. The architecture views of buildings surrounding the park itself is amazing and beyond views of the mountains in the background… what can I say. I’ve been to Hawaii twice, I’ve been to the Dr 4 times. There no reason to ever go back to Hawaii. Gorgeous beaches, views & people
Took a private taxi tour from Amber Cove port while on Carnival cruise. This is our First stop in the city after a quick drive outside the city. There are a couple of statues, a cathedral and a coconut stand where you can juice the fresh coconut for $2 and eat it after. The couple selling the coconuts are very nice.
It is a pretty place but I found it a bit dirty to my liking. There’s an ice cream shop across the street and an ATM if you need it. Ice cream was delicious. Good place to sit on the bench and watch locals gathering for a church mass in the evening and just enjoy the view. Also a good spot for taking pictures.
This is an amazing place at Christmas time. Everyone is out and enjoying themselves. Even the children and it is probably 8 or 9 o'clock. Now, very family oriented, very nice. There is a very hard time parking but other than that it's great
If you're willing to walk from the port to downtown, it's a quaint little park. Lots of history, a cathedral in plenty of people that are willing to help.
Nice view on park Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Near a lots comercial locals.
Safe, fun and educational history for family to experience or for solo traveling.
This park is just a square but we visited right after New Years and it was decorated lovely. It is a short walk from the port. There are a lot of pigeons! There was a gentlemen that would use bird seed 5o attract them and you could have your picture taken with them if you want to be that close to pigeons. St Philip the apostle cathedral is right off the square and has beautiful stained glass.

Family fun, good prices ,not the fastest but still a great time enjoy
really fun but one of the cars sucked and this girl pushed me. but other than that not bad fun city :D
It's a few old go carts... you drive around in circles for 7 minutes. Don't expect major WOW! factor for the cars or anything. They shake you up ALOT. Bring a pillow if you're sensitive to that. Nothing special... but definitely something fun with the right group of people. It's 200 pesos for 7 minutes in the singles car (150 pesos for the slower doubles car, if you have a small child). We didn't see any snack place, but if you bring a couple snacks, there is an area where you can sit. There's also a playground. It was pretty clean. The person at the ticket counter had a mask on. The guys working at the cars did not. It's alright. We were the only people there at 1pm on a Monday.... however, we've never seen more than 2 or 3 cars in the parking area on any given day.
Good for hangout with the family. I went there at 1 pm... since other users reviews said trouble with the lines... found the place empty and we have a lot of fun. Go-Karts looks safe. Staff was very nice and gave us all the instructions we need. Issues: I belive they're short of personnel (no one at the cafeteria) and the bathroom were dirty (taking 2 stars for that).
Great place for some minor adrenaline. The staff is very courteous. We didn’t get the price we saw on the flyer which was u limited rides for $25 USD. Instead she gave us 2hrs of u limited rides for $600 Pesos per person. Not bad! After all we didn’t even last the two hours. If you ask they will put the speed all the way up!
Great place to ride go karts for the price. Go when they are not busy because they have limited staff. If your kart is slow ask them to speed it up. Tip please!
Very Nice place for your kids to do karting. Just one suggestion do not go when there is too much sun. They offer 3 differents circuits and all of them are less than 200 pesos for 7 minutes. I would suggest also To not pay for all them at the first time. One at time would be better. Also note tickets are non refundable. Not even in rain's case
Awesome place! Karts are very fast and staff is good. 3 of us went when it wasn't busy and got the hour long pass and used the karts pretty much the full hour. If anyone is waiting they limit your round to 7 minutes so you would definitely have your riding time cut down.

Beautiful and dreamy place. Water is clear blue 😍, definitely worthwhile to visit this island. And snorkeling here was snorkeling unforgettable experience!
Cayo Arena, affectionately known as Paradise Island, stands out as one of the most unique and awe-inspiring destinations in the Dominican Republic. Unlike any ordinary beach, Cayo Arena is a fleeting, living sandbar that materializes off the coast of Punta Rucia—its shape and size eternally sculpted by the whims of the tides and seasons. What truly sets Cayo Arena apart and earns it a place among the world’s top recommendations: • Ephemeral Beauty: This sandbar’s impermanence is its magic. With every visit, you’ll encounter a subtly different landscape, making each trip truly one-of-a-kind. • Natural “Aquarium” Experience: Surrounded by pristine coral reefs, the island offers an unrivaled chance to interact with a dazzling spectrum of fish. Glide into shallow, crystalline waters—barely waist-deep—and hand-feed sergeant majors, angelfish, and yellowtail snappers in their natural habitat. Nowhere else feels quite so much like stepping inside a living aquarium. • Intimate and Adaptable Retreat: The island features movable wooden cubicles for shade and storage, ingeniously designed to move as the sandbar evolves, enhancing comfort without sacrificing the untouched charm of the setting. • Breathtaking Scenery: Trek out early to savor untouched stretches of soft white sand bordered by endless turquoise waters. The combination of shifting sands, tranquil ocean, and vibrant marine life creates a magical sense of peace and wonder. • A Rare Hidden Gem: Tucked away in the Atlantic, Cayo Arena remains one of the region’s best-kept secrets. Its ever-shifting presence and natural splendor make it a destination deserving of global acclaim and a must-experience for any traveler seeking beauty beyond the ordinary. No other spot captures the fleeting, enchanted soul of the Caribbean quite like Cayo Arena—each visit is an adventure you’ll remember forever. This truly is a highlight of the Dominican Republic and an absolute recommendation for any traveler in search of paradise.
Absolutely gorgeous. This is an ideal snorkeling spot! We were only out for about 25 minutes and saw eel, a crab, jelly fish, trumpet fish, some large puffer fish, and lots of smaller tropical fish. The boat ride out is not for the faint of heart, but totally worth it! The views are phenomenal. The water is crystal clear. The day we went, the water was pretty rough. If you are brave enough to swim out past the shallow end, the edge of the reef is breathtaking and you’ll see more variety of fish and some really cool sea life. You aren’t allowed to wear shoes and you’re not allowed to lay down towels and whatnot because it’s a preserved area. But there are a few small benches if you need to sit. Also, if you’re thinking about going I ask a favor: PLEASE DON’T FEED THE FISH. It’s soooo bad for our reef. It messes up the food cycle and we need the parrot fish to eat the dead coral. Thanks for understanding!
One of the most stunning beaches I've ever visited. Clear waters, snorkeling opportunity and smooth sand.
Worth the drive from Puerto Plata, Playa Dorada. Crystal clear waters and white sand. If you have the chance, book your excursion from Alegria tours. Manuel is a terrific guide! We were the second group that arrived in the island, and while some groups only stay there for an hour, we stayed for 2.5 hours! Heads up though, th espeed boat is very bumpy, so hold on tight! Snorkeling is about 15meters+, it felt like you're in an aquarium.
The place has to get 5 stars. Don't think about spending money or time to get there just go and see it your self. It is not in the middle of the ocean and yes you can see the shore and mountains from the main island. Be aware of that. I had a great day there.
Super Beautiful and unique. Come early before the big boats arrive. Also, I'd highly advise to bring extra cash and get drone pics.
Nice but they don't accept card payments Make sure you bring swimming trunks as there is a lot of water nearby

Had a wonderful time with my son. There are also beach chairs you can rent.
Nice beach and ocean view. A lot of small restaurants along the way. I gave four stars because it is a lot of trash, specially plastics and bottles (no trash cans by the beach just where the restaurants are). We need to save our planet.
Very dirty towards the left side. Did not swim there. Wouldn't go there again.
Lovely place to go take a walk or swim. Different places near by to grab a bite or even a coffee.
Beautiful beach! I wish they would invest in
My favorite place to puerto plata You need to visita there
Bar there nice, but along all seaside are a lot of garbages ! That's sad that people living there don't care about it, to see nice beach you have to go to cabarette or sosua 35' drive by car of puerto plata
Consider another beach. There was quite a bit of trash and glass however not many people. Excellent view that you can find on any beach here.

This plaza is located in the Playa Dorada hotel complex, 15 minutes from downtown Puerto Plata. It's t's in a gated location with security, so it's safe to go shopping and walk around. It offers all types of souvenirs, excursions, and beach necessities stores. I gave it 4 stars because some of the stores do not have prices labeled in the products. All items should be priced accordingly.
The mall is mostly empty and full of aggressive merchants. We were NOT IMPRESSED. There was One gift shop that was wonderful and the ONE restaurant open was delicious!
Playa Dorada Mall is a valuable asset to the area, offering a variety of shops and services. While it could benefit from modernization and a broader selection of stores, including a grocery store, it remains a convenient and enjoyable shopping destination
Malls is half empty and dated but the merchant are all welcoming and willing to make you a deal. They sell the typical stuff that you can find downtown or anywhere else in Puerto Plata.
Nice little mall, but way overpriced. Just because there are resorts in the surrounding area. Everything is doubled in price. For example the liquor store at the mall l had Brugal for 1150 Pesos. But the one in the city Puerto Plata had them for 650 pesos.
Those stores that are open excellent service. Unfortunately most of the stores are closed and a few will not make deals.
This location offers lots of small, interesting local shops with any kind of local produchts, souvenirs, gifts, clothes and Dominican stuff. But due to the pandemic situation and less tourists and Hotel guests many departments are closed. What a pity 😞
Nice shopping mall with a lot of souvenir to take home, the bar is excellent, incredible restaurant. But you need to be carefully with the prices and the exchange rate that's why I will not give the 5 ⭐.
