Extremely ornate. It’s bigger than it appears. A chapel is behind the altar - image of Mary impressed in a burned tree trunk after she appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541.
The Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan is a must to visit when doing a pilgrimage in Mexico. First time I came here, there was no one else inside, yet I smell a heavy scent of Jasmine. It was my validation that Senora of Ocotlan indulged me with her Divine presence.
Hum. Beautiful architectural building, lots of history.
This church seems hidden but really as grandiose as the others The town seems far but worth visiting. Small town but the church is pretty awesome. The architecture is worth going there. Even the christmas tree has spirit. Made out of love.
PILGRIMAGE OF GUADALUPE Our Visit to the Fountain of Our Lady of Ocotlan which means Pine. Our Lady appeared in a Pine tree. There was an epidemic during that time called Cholera. People who were not sick helped the sick and brought water to them. This was after ten years Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to San Juan Diego. Our Lady of Ocotlan appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino led him to the fountain that heals the sick. The Franciscan friars followed Juan Diego Bernardino and they believed.
This is a really beautiful church, both inside and out. The feeling inside is akin to the Capilla del Rosario in Puebla, but on a humbler, more intimate scale. The facade seems to have been freshly restored as of March 2023. Try to see the room that's somewhat hidden behind the main altar. It is also lovely but may not be open at the time of your visit.
Beautiful church. The rooms that can be entered through a "secret" door behind the altar have particularly amazing ceilings.
Beautiful ornate church built on the site where the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego.

I love that the staff makes you feel at home, very attentive at all times. Although it is small, it has a lot of information and history. Attached to the museum is a small market for crafts and local consumption, that idea seems fantastic to me to consume handmade things at a very good price and with a great variety. You find food and souvenirs. On Sundays the museum has no cost. (Original) Recomendable visitarlo en primavera cuando los árboles se visten de morado, lo cual le da una vista mucho más hermosa. a nice Colonial building that houses the government offices of the city as well as a set of wonderful murals that are free to see for the public. There are guided tours available at certain times that explain the meaning and the significance of the frescoes, but they are mostly in Spanish.

They were painted and restored by the same person, a master muralist from Tlaxcala named Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin. They narrate the history of Tlaxcala and its relationship with Mexico from pre-Hispanic times to the 20th century, including important scenes from the conquest, colonial, and modern times. The most famous mural is "History of Tlaxcala and its Contributions to Mexican Identity," but there are others on the ground floor, such as "Foundation of Tepeticpac," "Xochiyayotl or Flowery Wars," "Ritual Festivals to the God Camaxtli," "The Conquest," "The Tlaxcalan Golden Age," among others. The tour can be provided by a guide who will allow you to understand more than what meets the eye; all they need is a small tip. Do your best to be there
In my opinion, the collection here is rather unimpressive, though there is a very fine chac mool sculpture. If you happen to be in Tlaxcala, it wouldn't hurt to visit it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see this museum. It costs 75 pesos for foreign visitors to enter, almost as much as the vastly superior Museo Amparo in Puebla.
There are empty areas and stands.

(Translated by Google) This regional museum is impressive. The grounds are beautiful. It's a shame the four Tlaxcalan lordships aren't given the national publicity. Although this site and all its exhibits are authentic, it's necessary to give Mexico and its unique culture the importance it deserves, which should be recognized worldwide. The souvenir shop wasn't open on Sunday. Too bad, since you REALLY NEED DOCUMENTS TO KNOW THE BASICS OF TLAXCALA'S CULTURE AND OUR ANCESTORS. THERE ARE NO BOOKS IN THE ... "RUINS" OF THE FOUR TLAXCALA LORDS, NOT EVEN A BROCHURE. The history of Tlaxcala encompasses a very important settlement, impressive rulers, alliances, and wars. Canvases, maps, texts. (Even if they're from other settlements in nearby regions, such as Puebla, the great Tlaxcala is always mentioned. And this is something that absolutely needs to be made known to truly love our culture.)
(Translated by Google) Despite being very neglected, the museum still retains its splendor. Entering a unique 16th-century building is what makes it exceptional. Strolling through its inner courtyards, climbing its stone stairs, and crossing its arches is highly recommended. The ground floor is generally used for temporary exhibitions, while upstairs you can find items that narrate the history of Tlaxcala and its presence in the country. While this permanent exhibition is somewhat dated, it is a key part of understanding Tlaxcala as a region and not just as a state. It's highly recommended to visit the museum after visiting the main nave of the convent! (Original) El museo pese a estar muuuuuuy descuidado sigue conservando su esplendor, entrar a un edificio único del siglo XVI es lo que lo hace excepcional. Amazing historical place to visit and know more about our culture
Interesting archeological site close to Texcoco. Must have been a thriving community years ago.
It's a very quick stop, with not much around it. We went when the govt website said it should be open, but a security guard (politely) asked us to leave after 20 minutes because it was actually closed. Aaaand it happens that we were literally already on our way out. Open air site with no fence and little markings. Still, it was interesting to read the signs. VERY little parking, but not a problem since you'll likely be alone.

Still making changes and maintenance but already looking wonderful
An okay zoo. Definitely an easy place to spend a few hours with family. It’s very cheap as well, but unfortunately a lot was closed off when we went. The place also looks a little run down, it needs some tlc (tender loving care).
Really cheap with a lot of animals, really good place to go with family
Our three-year-old really enjoyed the visit to the zoo, and my wife and I did too. The zoo contained a variety of animals, from snakes to monkeys to white lions and jaguars. The zoo was well-maintained except for a few exhibits missing signs identifying the animals.
Awesome option to spend a few hours in a weekend! Better than expected...
You can see white lions there. Go during the week to avoid crowds. Entrance is 10 pesos for adults and 5 pesos for children.

And yes, places like this, guard them and take care of them jealously BECAUSE THEY ARE IMPRESSIVE AND BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️ (Original) La zona arqueológica es espectacular., bella, impresionante, un gigante.

Beautiful! If you stumble upon this like we did, go in! There’s different rooms that keep going. The main Catholic Church in Tlaxcala.
I passed by this city and decided to have a quick look. Instead I spent a whole day here. It’s quiet , not much traffic and tourism noise. The churches, government buildings fantastic murals, bullring, and the small neighborhood chapel on the top of the hill with a panoramic view of the beautiful city. All are so nice and well preserved. I seriously recommend.
Nice, quiet town. Very layed back.
It's such an amazing place! This place is full of spirituality and traditions; a place where you can enjoy the view and traditions like music, folklore, food, souvenirs, ice cream, and history. If you are visiting Tlaxcala, this place is a must for you to stop by and enjoy!
Lovely place to visit!

How can I describe this place? I have pictures that discribe this place better than I can with words.
I'm not religious, but going to Barca de la Fe was an interesting experience. The entrance was only $5 pesos. It was cool going through the museum and church, seeing a series it photographs, some items crafted by the priest that built the church, and going through the building generally. They had a small tiangis area in the streets below with great food choices and some light shopping.
The place is nice enough.. maybe they lack places to buy food
This is a church made into a ship! Beautiful from inside to out side! Nice place to visit 😊
It's a beautiful and magical place
This was a fun family stop. It's interesting to see, and hasta beautiful view from the top.... probably 60 ft. Tall or so. Only charge 5 pesos to go up through the "ship".
It was cool, underwhelming to say the least. Expected a better view and more to do. Interesting story and concept
Is a nice little town the ark looking church is pretty but really is the only thing around so my visit was really fast

That's a nice landmark of the city, perfect to go sightseeing in Tlaxcala city, you can see the whole city from here, getting there is kind of hard but it's good to exercise.
Gracious space to enjoy the view and to rest, it gives you a different prospective of the city’s layout.
Beautiful sight, loooong flight of stairs.
Great view of the town from the top

Tlaxcala SI EXISTE! come and visit, lots of history. I will come back, it's just 2-3 hours from CDMX.
small Museum that provides an excellent overview of the the local population from the Spanish Conquest to about the 1650s. A good exhibit on Carnival, Mardi Gras, costumes and ceremonies.
It's a small museum it explains the history of the state back to the late 1600 year upon arrival of the Spaniards very interesting
Wow. A mural so well preserved of All of Mexico's history.
Great job and congratulations
They can be better
(Translated by Google) In one of its five rooms, the Tlaxcala Memory Museum commemorates the Tlaxcalan diaspora, an event that largely defined what we now know as Mexico. The memorial to the 400 travelers who populated the north is an interesting detail because this record details the first and last names, marital status, and place of origin of each of the people who embarked on the journey.
