1Cacaxtla Archaeological Site

Archaeological site
Cacaxtla Archaeological Site, located in Tlaxcala, Mexico, is a must-visit attraction that offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region. Believed to have been inhabited by the Olmec-Xicalanca civilization, this ancient site features well-preserved murals and ruins that were once part of a sprawling palace.
Excellent place to visit and check the great pyramid that has some original paintings. It is really amazing and incredible how they built these pyramids and how well nowadays they maintain them in good conditions. I highly recommend to visit this place and take as many pictures as possible.
Lucia V — Google review
I have been to many permits throughout Mexico, but what makes this place interesting as it’s murals that are still in great condition. One also needs to look up the history of the people who went against the Aztecs and sided with the Spaniards as mercenaries. They kept their state intact. It’s also very apparent that there is much more to the area that has not been explored or revealed. Hopefully someday it is able to properly excavate all of the area. Which is a huge amount of space.
Ariel K — Google review
…the rating I give has nothing to do with the site's historical interest; that aspect is wonderful: a civilization located approximately 800 years after Christ, cosmopolitan, warlike, and artistic, yet unnamed. The rating has to do with what interests tourists most: how will they treat me? The site has two entrances; if you're unfortunate enough to enter the wrong one, you'll enter the underworld of "improvised parking," local disputes over unofficial fees, and, above all, the lack of information about the place. You don't see a responsible authority to guide you, there are no guides to explain the richness of the place. If you're coming from another country, it's not worth the detour to this site.
Yeyo R — Google review
Cacaxtla is such a hidden gem, beautiful murals and fascinating history in a peaceful setting. I definitely recommend getting a guide so you don’t miss all the stories and details. Bring water and a hat too, since it can get hot, and take your time to really enjoy the site. Totally worth the trip!

2La Malinche National Park

National park
La Malinche National Park, also known as Matlalcueyatl, is a stunning natural reserve in the state of Tlaxcala. Spanning over 45,000 acres, it offers breathtaking landscapes and outdoor activities. The park is home to the majestic Malinche volcano and boasts incredible trees and beautiful scenery. Visitors can enjoy various hiking routes to the top but should be prepared for a tough hike at altitude.
A beautiful hike up the Malinche volcano at 4453m. The path starts very easy and walkable at the beginning and gets a little more challenging with some light scrambling at the end. It took us about 5 hours up and 3 hours down, so an early start is recommended. Beautiful views and a very clean national park.
Andre — Google review
It's beautiful and well taken care of unlike other parks. The climb was more difficult than I thought it would be. I have climbed Mt Fuji several times but I found Malinche a tad more difficult mostly due to the final section that is quite steep and with loose rocks. I got a major headache so I didn't finish the last 100 meters or so. I will definitely be back soon.
YO M — Google review
Total Hike of 6-7 hour. Always easy to see the direction or the trail. Without registration you can enter to national park from 7am till 5pm. There are gates on the road and they open exactly at 7am. Start from Central Vacational - there is big parking log. The hike is moderate the first 2 hours - but then it starts getting steep - terrain is sandy which makes walking more tiring. When the view point after 2/3 of the trail is reached, the last 300 height meters are not that bad, even it is still super steep - but it is rocky and easy to hike. Start esrly, because rain comes in the afternoon. Bring 2-3 liters of water - depends what season you hike. I was there in September, a cloudy day, so 1 liter was enough. Bring good shoes for high mountain - best hiking shoes with good profile. Rain coat, sun protection, toilet paper and clothes for low temperatures are important to bring too.
Simon L — Google review
A day hiking trip. Park the car, hike around 3 to 4 hours, and arrive at the peak at 4440m. Without gear or any preparation. The views are amazing. Walk thru the various terrains. Tough hike but very doable. Safe and you will meet many travelers. There are camping areas as well. A dormant volcano. But worth a day visit.
Jose G — Google review
This is a tough hike at altitude, so know what you're getting into. Public transport will get you on the mountain too late to summit, unless you are in really good shape and go fast. Take a taxi or ride-share. The road 12kms out is closed until 7am, so don't arrive before then. There are many stray dogs that have organized themselves into packs, so be careful. They are not normally aggressive, but can become so in the presence of food or in the case they are attacked.
Shreesh T — Google review
3 hours drive away from cdmx. With beautiful hike in the forest all the way to the peak at 4400m above sea level. The hike is about 8 km long and 1200m climb with avg walk time of 6 hours up and 4 hours back… you can camp over night and it’s safe there with no coast of entry .. you can park by the road or pay 50 m$ (2.5 US$) There some food places for tacos and coffee
Hussain A — Google review
Great views even on a mostly cloudy day! There is a lack of signage at the trailhead (IMSS centro vacacional) and along the trail, but reading a few blogs/articles I knew what to expect and look for. And it helps to be able to follow others; it was busy even on a Friday morning. There are mutiple routes to the top. No one charged us for parking even though I’d expected to pay 80 pesos - maybe because we arrived right when it opened? I’d compare the effort to the easier 14ers in the US, like Mt Elbert. The altitude is no joke if you’re not acclimated!

Xochitécatl Archaeological Zone is a remarkable complex of prehistoric pyramids, believed to have been used for fertility and rain ceremonies. Located on the slopes of the Tlaxcala volcano in Mexico, this ancient Mesoamerican city is renowned for its impressive ruins and architectural wonders. The site features unique attractions such as a spiral pyramid, which is thought to be the only one of its kind in the country.
Amazing site. Nobody was there and this was unfortunate we had a clear view of Popo and Itzta. The site is not huge but the same ticket gets you into Cacaxtla. The museum has amazing pieces in it. Come visit and see Cacaxtla as well. You won't regret the extra 15 minute drive to experience Xochitecatl which is even older than Cacaxtla.

Xochitécatl Archaeological Zone with museo , and u can go to other archaeological , very good , road two way , have to be careful
Rebecca L — Google review
Found some old photos, so here is what I remember from my trip in 2006. The spiral pyramid was odd, I believe it is the only one of its kind in the country. The big pots, or wells, or whatever they were. Got some cool IR shots with one of my early infrared-modified cameras. Certainly a neat little worth visiting if you are in the area.
Laurin J — Google review
This is a beautiful place, more interesting than Cacaxtla. This archeological area represents the feminine energy, has four pyramids. One for Ehecatl, another for the volcanoes, other for the serpent of feather and the last one for the flowers.

I came to this pueblo to visit family. They told me about these ruins and we decided to go. I climbed a lot of stairs but it was so worth it for the view up top. If you're ever visiting Mexico and happen to be near Tlaxcala, definitely stop by. The pictures don't do the views justice, they must be seen in person!

The Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan is a stunning church in Mexico, known for its beautiful Churrigueresque facade adorned with white stucco decorations and red tiles. It holds religious significance as the site where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared in 1541. The main altar features her image, commemorating the apparition. The interior is decorated by indigenous artist Francisco Miguel, who spent 25 years adorning the altarpieces and chapel.
Extremely ornate. It’s bigger than it appears. A chapel is behind the altar - image of Mary impressed in a burned tree trunk after she appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541.
Auda G — Google review
The Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan is a must to visit when doing a pilgrimage in Mexico. First time I came here, there was no one else inside, yet I smell a heavy scent of Jasmine. It was my validation that Senora of Ocotlan indulged me with her Divine presence.

PILGRIMAGE OF GUADALUPE Our Visit to the Fountain of Our Lady of Ocotlan which means Pine. Our Lady appeared in a Pine tree. There was an epidemic during that time called Cholera. People who were not sick helped the sick and brought water to them. This was after ten years Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to San Juan Diego. Our Lady of Ocotlan appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino led him to the fountain that heals the sick. The Franciscan friars followed Juan Diego Bernardino and they believed.
Olivia S — Google review
This is a really beautiful church, both inside and out. The feeling inside is akin to the Capilla del Rosario in Puebla, but on a humbler, more intimate scale. The facade seems to have been freshly restored as of March 2023. Try to see the room that's somewhat hidden behind the main altar. It is also lovely but may not be open at the time of your visit.
Tim T — Google review
Beautiful church. The rooms that can be entered through a "secret" door behind the altar have particularly amazing ceilings.

The Museo de Arte de Tlaxcala is a must-visit for art enthusiasts in Tlaxcala. Housed in an elegant colonial building, the museum features an impressive collection of early Frida Kahlo paintings, some of which were returned after being on loan to other museums worldwide. The museum also showcases temporary exhibits highlighting modern Mexican art and boasts a good permanent collection.
Wonderful museum with great 20th century and contemporary artists, including a very nice section on Frida Khalo that highlights her early years and her connections to Tlaxcala. Great gift shop with many locally made goods. The space itself is centrally located and is very clean and modern. I’d look forward to going back and seeing future instillations.

Val’Quirico is a charming medieval-style village that makes for an enchanting getaway, whether you're traveling as a couple or with family. Located about two hours from Mexico City on the road to Xoxtla, this picturesque destination offers a unique atmosphere reminiscent of another country. The village is bustling with delightful restaurants and quaint shops selling clothing, jewelry, and various souvenirs—though prices can be on the higher side.
This place is absolutely stunning. A bustling makeshift small city full of restaurants and small stores full of clothes, bags, jewelry and other souvenirs. The prices are a bit on the high end but some of the products are definitely worth it. It's almost like walking into another country. I believe it's worth staying and least one night. There are airbnbs within the area and have accessible pricing. If you're doing a rest stop i recommend at least 3 hours to fully enjoy it.

(Translated by Google) A very picturesque town, excellent for photography. For mere mortals, I don't recommend eating there; they're luxurious restaurants. It's better to eat earlier in Cacaxtla. Parking is expensive! 200 pesos on weekends and holidays and 50 pesos during the week. I imagine there aren't as many things to see during the week; in the end, it's just a large real estate development with an Italian Tuscan theme. I went on a Sunday after 6 pm; the nighttime lighting gives it a special touch. There are several musicians playing in the various plazas. It's like a labyrinth you have to navigate, and there are plenty of places for incredible photos. (Translated by Google) I visited on Friday (September 26, 2025). The flow of people was normal… admission is free. Inspired by Italy, it's a beautiful place. I highly recommend it for people who love taking pictures. As for what to eat, my boyfriend and I had a really heavy breakfast before arriving, so the only "food" I bought there was a coffee. Prices vary. If you want to eat at a restaurant there, the prices are moderately high, but I think the experience is worth it. We were staying in Puebla. We took a Didi that took us there for $180 Mexican pesos. On the way back, the app showed us $350, but no matter how long we waited, no driver took our ride… be careful there 👀. We ended up taking a van to Xoxtla and from there a bus to CAPU (Puebla bus station). That trip cost us $36 pesos for both of us, so it was a better deal and a different experience… I'm mentioning this so you can double-check how you're going to get back! My recommendations: 1. Wear comfortable shoes: I saw several women wearing heels, and the streets are cobblestone, so it's not a great combination. 2. Don't bring wheeled suitcases: I saw several people with luggage. If you're bringing it because it's your last day of the trip or something, you can bring backpacks, but not wheeled suitcases. 3. Wear your cutest outfit; there are honestly too many photo spots.

Founded on October 17, 1532, by Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza, this charming destination played a significant role during the American invasion and was even designated as the capital of Tlaxcala from 1858 to 1863. (Translated by Google) This time we went to the celebration of the night when no one sleeps. I loved it. I love seeing the traditions that every Estadi has; they do it with such dedication and care. They sell a lot of food, and something I must applaud is that they don't mince their prices. We ate some slices of cake, which cost 35 pesos. A pot of coffee (although sugar-free, which they didn't offer us) cost 10 pesos. Afterwards, we had punch, although it tasted more like apple tea, and rice pudding atole cost 25 pesos a small cup. Afterwards, we bought some cookies for 5 pesos each, a dessert with pink gelatin in the middle and a cookie on the ends for 15 pesos, and a Chinese bread for 15 pesos. The bathrooms cost 5 pesos in some very clean places, and in others, not so much. As for the people, there were so many people that we couldn't get through some streets that we had to go around them to get through, but it was definitely a beautiful sight to see. What I do want to do is cross out those people who pinned their shoelaces so they DON'T PASS and walked very close to the mats, some even stepped on them just to get a photo, they should learn to respect, my respects to the gentlemen who made the mats, people got in their way and didn't say anything to them.

The Zona Arqueológica de Cholula is a remarkable ancient Mesoamerican site featuring the impressive Piramide Tepanapa, which resembles a hill rather than a typical pyramid. The area includes extensive tunnels that run through the structure, offering visitors an eerie and fascinating experience. This archaeological zone encompasses excavated areas around the pyramid and its underground tunnels, accessible through a tunnel on the north side.
What a wonderful site! Great information is given about the pyramid, and it's stunning to see so up close what remains. I also trekked to the church at the top. The church and the view were amazing.
Sara G — Google review
I’m studying to be an archaeologist and this place blew me away. Created in stages, like the Maya and other mesoamerican cultures, the pyramid was fantastic and the surrounding ruins were beautiful. There is definitely more that can be revealed. The grassy area that you walk around in was really nice.
Elyjah W — Google review
After visiting the Cathedral on the hill, we opted to walk around the ruins of the Great Pyramid. What history and building technique. They added layers every 52 years and spans centuries. Not much left but still worth walking around.
Mind T — Google review
It's a very big pyramid mostly covered in dirt. It seems the few things that were excavated were not actually part of the pyramid. The tunnels perhaps would be interesting but were closed. Poor signage resulted in us ascending 300+ steps to get to a church, but have no view of the pyramid (nice city and volcano view, however). Seems the church is the bigger spectacle here.
Jeff Z — Google review
THE TUNNELS ARE CLOSED. YOU CANNOT GO INSIDE THE PYRAMID/TEMPLE AT ALL, SO YOU WILL SEE ALMOST NOTHING. If you are okay with that, you will pay $95 per person (it is more expensive than listed online) to only see a small amount of the top of it (the rest is underground). If it is a sunny day, you can climb one small part of the temple steps, but that's the coolest thing you'll experience here. If it's raining, that will be closed so there will be almost nothing to see. UNTIL THEY OPEN THE TUNNELS AGAIN, IF THEY EVER DO, I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE.
Al — Google review
Really cool to learn about the history and see the ruins. There are also great places to buy Souvenirs right by the ruins.
Kimberly F — Google review
Pyramid of Cholula I was incredibly excited to visit the largest pyramid in the world. Knowing that it’s only a 3.5-hour flight from where I live made it even more exciting. However, I was also very disappointed by the way we were treated. I asked at the museum if it was possible to enter the underground passages of the pyramid, and the man who attended me said he didn’t know what I was talking about and told me to just go into the museum. I asked again if there was access to the tunnels, and he raised his voice, saying he didn’t know what I was talking about and that I should go see the patios instead. His attitude was rude and arrogant, so we decided to leave. The site itself is beautiful, full of history, with stories of the gods, the customs of the ancient peoples of Mexico, and also of the new religion imposed by the Spanish. I would definitely visit Cholula again, but I would keep my distance from the government staff.
Gab B — Google review
The Cholula pyramid and archaeological zone was just ok. We went to Monte Alban a week prior in Oaxaca that was stunning so once we got to Cholula I didn’t feel like it was anything special. There was a huge line to get in the ruins and museums which we skipped. The tunnels under the pyramids are closed since COVID. There were also so many people packed in the main square that I really couldn’t take the pictures I wanted. We did climb to the top of the hill and go inside the church that was very pretty and had a great view of the city.

Perched atop the ancient Piramide Tepanapa, the Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios is a stunning church that offers breathtaking views of Cholula. This vibrant structure, adorned with colorful tiles and built in the 16th century, stands as a fascinating symbol of cultural convergence. Interestingly, it was constructed before the Spanish fully recognized that they were building on a site that once housed a pagan temple.
Nice church. Steep but short walk up, either stairs or a ramp. And you take the side gate back down to get to the archeological site. It was cool to see them ring the church bell by hand. The inside of the church is actually very big and it's like a house in the back section. I recommend walking behind the altar area to see the rest, there's a door to the left that says "entrada" and it leads in a semi-circle through a bunch of different rooms. Lots of snack and fruit sellers at the bottom.
Maddi P — Google review
The Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios is located at a high altitude, and the air quality in the area can be challenging. The hike up to the church may be strenuous for those who are not accustomed to such conditions, but reaching the top is a worthwhile experience. The site is well-maintained, offering beautiful views, and the church itself has a magical atmosphere. Don’t forget to explore the back room of the church—you might be pleasantly surprised!
SIRLUNA ( — Google review
Really came to see the buried pyramid and the tunnels, but they were closed. Which sucked. So I hiked the long way up to the church, which is quite a climb in the hot sun. Nice church, amazing view. Wanted to check out more of the inside, but it was Sunday and there were a lot of people praying and I did not want to intrude. Lots of interesting vendors around, a very chaotic area to say the least.
Laurin J — Google review
This is a great hike up the site of an ancient pyramid. I thoroughly enjoyed knowing it was underneath the ground we walked on and the few parts that were exposed are impressive. I wish the tunnels would reopen and that the city would consider more excavating of the pyramid.

It is very small, but its talk is so enjoyable that it seems as if we had visited a huge museum. There is a mini museum that explains the timeline of that place. It is worth visiting Unfortunately the place is open and there were some people drinking alcohol and leaving their trash there. It's the only detail that I didn't like. It also houses one of the best-preserved examples of polychrome altars. The temple is another jewel of evangelization, along with its beautiful open chapel, which contains large fragments of original mural paintings. If you visit, don't forget to visit the small on-site museum and admire the pre-Hispanic paintings on display. I'm not religious, but going to Barca de la Fe was an interesting experience. The entrance was only $5 pesos. It was cool going through the museum and church, seeing a series it photographs, some items crafted by the priest that built the church, and going through the building generally. They had a small tiangis area in the streets below with great food choices and some light shopping.

Iztaccihuatl, a dormant volcano resembling a reclining female figure, offers multi-day hiking tours and stunning terrace views of the Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl volcanoes from nearby hotels. Climbing Iztaccihuatl is a challenging endeavor, with most people starting between midnight to 2 am for a 12-15 hour journey from 13,000 ft to 17,158 ft.
Gorgeous mountain! Be aware it's a long hike... +12k depends on the route you take.

A beautiful above-the-clouds mountain with well-defined, challenging, and varied trails, giving one the impression of being in Mexico, Peru, and Africa’s savanna. All of this comes with an out-of-this-world view of the majestic Popocatépetl on fire — along with other volcanoes such as La Malinche, the Sierra Negra, and of course Pico de Orizaba. Iztaccíhuatl does not require a guide or advanced mountaineering skills. However, it is truly challenging due to the significant elevation gain and the long distance from the parking area at Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park all the way to the summit.

And dont forget warm clothes and sun cream.

Long mountain with essential straight up accent. Crampons and excellent wind gear and warmth is a must. Hut half way up provides excellent shelter for a rest along the way. Glacier is just ice at the moment and very slippery on the way down to the belly.
Sheena M — Google review
You start at 13000 ft and go to 17158ft. Most people start between midnight to 2am since it can take 12-15 hours. The first section is pretty steep grassy field to a basic mountain refuge. Then the steepest part of the climb that is through mountain rocks and scree with some class 2&3 sections. Then up and down a few times that includes a glacier crossing (30 minutes to 1 hour to cross). I wore high top water proof trail runners for the whole trip and was fine. The summit is very unremarkable but a proud moment for most. Experienced heavy fog and a bit of hail in the way back. Make sure you bring 3 to 4 liters of water, layers, glacier glasses, suncreen. Try not to sweat so you don't get a cold easily. People say this is harder than Orizaba. Most importantly, know your limits and train to be able to handle a long hike. @thebetawoman for more photos/videos.

I tried to climb Iztaccihuatl in one day, actually on February 11th 2023. I left Puebla at 4.30 am with a rental SUV without 4 x 4. I was the first to enter the park office at 7.00 and got my bracelet. Then the drive up to the upper parking area in La Joya took another 25 minutes. I started to hike at 07.45 and was up at the first of the pre-peaks at 5020 mts at 12.00 pm. Clouds moved in and the view was getting worse and worse. So I decided to head back down. I think I could have made it to the peak in approx. 2 hours. So I would have started to descend at 3 pm which would have been okay to get down before it gets dark. It would of course be easier to sleep the night before in a tent a La Joya to have an earlier start. But I believe it's possible to do it like I tried too. But only if you are acclimatized and if you do a bit of trail running on the way down. It's doable with regular hiking boots or even trail running shoes like I used, but only in the dry season when there is now fresh snow. A fantastic, unforgettable hike with gorgeous views of Popocatepetl  and all the way to Pico de Orizaba. Lots of locals during the weekend, much less people during the week.

Nestled in the historic 16th-century Hospital de San Pedro, the Museo de la Memoria de Tlaxcala is a captivating destination that opened its doors in 1999. Originally known as Museo Poblano de Arte Virreinal, this museum aims to share the rich history of colonial Tlaxcala with visitors. Admission is free, and upon arrival, you'll be greeted by friendly staff eager to guide you through its fascinating exhibits.
Tlaxcala SI EXISTE! come and visit, lots of history. I will come back, it's just 2-3 hours from CDMX.

small Museum that provides an excellent overview of the the local population from the Spanish Conquest to about the 1650s. A good exhibit on Carnival, Mardi Gras, costumes and ceremonies.

(Translated by Google) In one of its five rooms, the Tlaxcala Memory Museum commemorates the Tlaxcalan diaspora, an event that largely defined what we now know as Mexico. The memorial to the 400 travelers who populated the north is an interesting detail because this record details the first and last names, marital status, and place of origin of each of the people who embarked on the journey.

Beautiful! If you stumble upon this like we did, go in! There’s different rooms that keep going. The main Catholic Church in Tlaxcala.

I passed by this city and decided to have a quick look. Instead I spent a whole day here. It’s quiet , not much traffic and tourism noise. The churches, government buildings fantastic murals, bullring, and the small neighborhood chapel on the top of the hill with a panoramic view of the beautiful city. All are so nice and well preserved. I seriously recommend.

(Translated by Google) An interesting place to admire the size of the mine, which is in very good condition. Everything is completely clean and maintained by the local residents. It's important to dress comfortably and wear a cap, hat, or umbrella, as you have to walk from the parking lot to the mine, and apparently on weekends they charge $20 for access to the mine for maintenance. I really liked it! Me gustó mucho!

(Translated by Google) Very pleasant weather if you arrive early. You can enjoy a hike through a forested landscape filled with pine trees and varied vegetation. It's preferable to wear boots, as there are a lot of rocks and mud on rainy days. And to confirm how beautiful this place is, you must go. Don't let anyone tell you. There's plenty of parking and delicious and affordable food stalls. The average price for two people is $200.00.

(Translated by Google) The place has very beautiful views and you can take some incredible photos, you walk a little but it is worth it. Parking costs $10, there are bathrooms in the parking lot but you better wait until you get to the mine, they are better and very clean and only cost $5. I had to see that some cars came down to the entrance of the mine with older adults, that is good so that older adults can also enjoy the mine. Upstairs in the parking lot they sell food.

(Translated by Google) I visited this place on a Sunday and it is very beautiful. The Good: * It's not expensive. The entrance fee is 10 pesos for parking and 20 pesos per person. They give you a wristband. The community is responsible for maintenance. * The trail is about 500 meters downhill, so it's not difficult. You can also enjoy the views, and during this time of year, the sunflowers. * There are food stalls at the entrance, so you can have breakfast before or afterward to regain energy. * The hike takes 1 to 1.5 hours. It's short but really enjoyable, and you get some great photos. * There are restrooms; the cost is 5 pesos. There are two, one at the beginning of the hike, right after you pay, and another one near the mines. The Bad: * The parking lot is relatively small, so arrive early. *There are no signs or large signs, so be alert or bring a preloaded GPS. There is signal on the road, but not in the mines. Overall, it's a very good place to start a route to Tlaxcala. I visited the Sanctuary of the Child of the Hill, the Sanctuary of San Miguel Arcángel, and the archaeological site of Cacaxtla, ending in Val'Quirico.

(Translated by Google) Easy access by car, there is an open-air parking lot (in the field). Access is difficult for people with disabilities because from the parking lot, it's a dirt road leading to Tezontle, and the descent for more than 500 meters (returning in the opposite direction), poses a risk of falling if you don't step carefully. There are restrooms, snacks, drinks, hats, caps, and souvenirs for sale at the entrance. The chalk mines are located within a ravine at the bottom. There are also restrooms at the entrance to the mines, but no food or drinks are sold. The walk to the chalk mines takes approximately 5 or 10 minutes. They're more like caves, because they don't extend deep into the hills. Everything is located only on the edge. At most, the walk is about 500 meters. They are beautiful, but the total walk up, down, and around them will take an average of an hour, including the travel time to get there. The entrance fee per person is currently 20 Mexican pesos. It's a must-see for the scenery and nature.
