Points of Interest & Landmarks
The vibrant Old City is a maze of narrow, pedestrian-only lanes filled with old synagogues, and ancient houses whose blue doors and windows indicate the locals' Kabbalistic beliefs. Galleries and workshops line the streets of the Artists' Quarter, alongside wine cellars and kosher restaurants. Close by, the Khan of the White Donkey cultural center hosts yoga classes and weekly concerts in a restored 1300s building.

We were a party of 8 plus a baby, and no one had anything bad to say. The atmosphere is unique and exciting, the food is perfectly cooked and there is a big variety of choice, the farm itself and the horses is a kid friendly activity.
A wonderful restaurant! For starters, we had the charred artichoke and the tomato salad – both generous and delicious. For the main course, we ordered the porterhouse, cooked perfectly and evenly, juicy and full of flavor. The cheesecake for dessert was average. The service was excellent, and the private carriage dining experience was interesting and unique, though a bit unnecessary in my opinion. All in all – a great place with excellent food and a special atmosphere.
Everything was great at Bat Yaar restaurant. The staff were extremely nice. The atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect in a Western like restaurant, even the songs in the playlist in the background were carefully selected. But above all the food was amazing and the prime rib stake was delish! Thank you for a great evening!
We arrived as a couple for a Friday dinner, the service was fast, our questions were answered professionally, the food was very tasty and the atmosphere was magical. This is not our first time at the restaurant and we look forward to the next time. It is a very special experience, it is recommended to book in advance.
My partner and I recently had dinner at this restaurant and we were amazed by the food and service. We started with the meat tartar, recommend to as by our waiter, Liad. It was one of the specials and was incredibly flavorful and had the perfect texture. For our main courses, my partner had the Beef Filet Medallions with Gnocchi and I had the 9 hour asado. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. To top off our meal, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dessert of malabi, which was a perfect ending to our meal. We had a great experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
Food was excellent and also the service! We needed Gluten free meal and though the kitchen is not sterile from gluten our daughter enjoyed gluten free hamburger with gluten free bun
Hot and noisy. That's the memory I'll take away from this place. The view seems obsolete compared to the chaos of the service. Dessert never arrived, and we left a little disappointed. The burger was ok. I didn't taste the aioli, the shinnitzel was as it should be.
Very nice place great restaurant. Spicalized with meat. Every thing was great. We also did house rode before the supper and it recommended

If you go to Tzfat this synagogue is a must visit in my opinion. Very beautiful and very prominent, just look at the pictures. Also there was a scribe gentleman that recite prayers for our children and that was very emotional for us.
This ancient shul is filled with history, beauty, and deep Kabbalistic symbolism. It’s a quiet, powerful place to sit, reflect, or pray. The interior artwork and Torah scrolls add to the sacred feeling inside.
This is one of the many places we visited on our tour with Aaron. It was incredible....some amazing details, architecture, and amazing people. So much history, LOVED Safed and its atmosphere. Met a lovely lady who does a metallic type of arm art, a very animated guy and his family (amazing coffee). Highly recommend Safed if you are in Israel. We went in late May, to early June, 2019, on our tour.
Incredible synagogue. Has the oldest sefer Torah in the world written by Abuhav himself. Beautiful design according to Kabbalah. Shaharit at 5am. Shabbat Services. Very friendly kahal.
Located in the mountainous old city of Safed, Abuhav synagogue has a mysterious, spiritual atmosphere to it, an old remnant of its glorious past. The sky-blue paint on the walls combined with white shades oozes off Jewish vibes, reminiscent of the Israeli flag.
Unlike any synogogue that I've ever visited. Aside from the bimah in the middle of the room, it had a very artsy, eclectic, relaxed feeling to it. Even the added chairs in the room were the exact opposite of the fancy pretentious synogogues that so many Americans are used to. Highly recommend place to visit when touring Northern Israel.
Very very impressive ols synagogue reconstructed fron an old Spain synagogue before jews expulsion
Gorgeous Sephardic shul. Not always open, but was lucky enough to go at a time when it was. Worth walking into and looking around if you’re already in Zfat.

Amazing history. 16th Century landmark surrounded by beautiful art shops and antique stores. It’s also got an amazing collection of artisan, restaurants and quick eats. They must stop And enjoy the history of the area. I love coming here as often as possible when I visit Israel.
This ancient synagogue is one of the most beautiful and historic in Israel. Named after the holy Arizal, it holds a deep spiritual energy and is still active today. The design is simple but full of meaning, and the atmosphere is very peaceful. It’s a special place for prayer or quiet contemplation. You feel a real connection to Jewish history here.
The Ashkenazi Ari Synagogue, located in Safed, Israel, was built in memory of Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534 - 1572), who was known by the Hebrew acronym "the ARI". It dates from the late 16th-century, it being constructed several years after the death of Luria, a great kabbalist who arrived in Safed in 1570. The synagogue is known for its colorful and ornate Holy Ark. It may be the oldest synagogue in Israel that is still in use. Though the synagogue is associated by name with the Ashkenazi community, today it serves as a place of worship for Hasidic and Sephardic Jews and remains popular among worshippers of different affiliations. Another ancient Safed synagogue dedicated to Rabbi Isaac Luria is known as the Sephardic Ari Synagogue.
A most historical and spiritual medieval synagogue. The very small but amazing synagogue is known for its colorful and ornate Holy Ark. It may be the oldest synagogue in Israel that is still in use. Authentic original 17th century building and furnishings. A great place to get a sense of Tzfat. Combines the mystical with the real side of Tzfat. Best if you can get a guide. A must see if you are in Tzfat (Safed). #synagogue
This synagogue is super historical and amazing to visit with a family or large groups. Please be aware of service times so as to not interrupt or in order to join. There is a great little hangout space to sit right outside the entrance.

A fantastic art gallery in the heart of Safed, Israel.
In 2019 we purchased a Marc Chagall print with the appropriate documentation certifying its authenticity . This past year my insurance company required a new appraisal after having it examined by many experts they determined I had been sold a forgery by Art Soul I have made various attempts to contact them and have been totally ignored.
A lovely art gallery, a variety of artifacts.

Amazing wine, views and atmosphere. Their terrace overlooks the mountains and a valley. Friendly owners. Definitely recommend.
This was a gorgeous surprise on our wander through Tsfat! The hook was an advertisement for “f-rose”… frozen wine slushy! What a fun treat… we also bought a plate of desserts and a coffee here and sat on their gorgeous balcony. Beautiful atmosphere, nice host, and tasty purchases. Highly recommended.
Great ambiance, lovely view, delicious wine, very friendly service.
Me and my husband visited abuhav winery and had a nice time we ordered the olive and cheese plate some bakwala and some wine. We really loved the location and the place itself it was so beautiful a mix of ancient and modern farm house with a beautiful view of the mountains. I do have to say that a couple hours later me and my husband both felt sick to our stomachs both were nauseous and felt very dizzy we believe that the aged cheese or something we ate their made us feel this way since it was the only place we ate before the symptoms started. I just wanted to put this out in case something they served was maybe not good anymore it’s the next day and husband is still feeling very nauseous and dizzy. Just bringing awareness to the owners.
After waiting forever for some time to go so far up north, we finally had the time to drive 150 km to the winery. We found the owner, who told us she does not work for the winery, after not even bothering opening the glass door. She simply shouted, so surprised we came all that way. We arrived at 16:20, and although the visiting center is supposed to be open until 18:00, the guy who works there left early, so we weren't allowed in. Needless to say that no one answered the phone before we arrived. We truly appreciate the unpleasant experience. We will not be back there, let alone recommend the wine, as good as it may be.
The experience at this winery is out of this world, based on a cave more than 600 years old. The owner is very open about his winery, and eager to teach about wine-making processes and secrets. Interesting discussion, happy experience, and an unforgettable setting! Irbuvia wine is their most delectable- a blend that works well in any setting. The presentation without sulfide is an added bonus. The unfiltered wine taste lingers on the tongue in a surprising and happy tone.
Nice place, very friendly staff, superb wine

Really nice place. The cheese might be more expensive than in a supermarket but is much better - actually the best I ate in Israel by now. Just buy a little bit of everything, take a seat in front of the shop and enjoy the amazing cheese (and the view). It might be useful to fix a price in advance to avoid unnecessary trouble. 50 NIS should be easily enough for two persons.
Cute little dairy factory. They didnt offer a tour when we arrived, but we bought some ice cream. They had some other food available for purchase (cheese, as you can imagine, wine and other snscks) and a couple tables indoors and outdoors (with an exceptional view). Owner is extremely nice too.
Delightful visit and delicious cheeses. It was a charming and warm welcome. We were able to taste each cheese before we bought them. We came away with six different kinds - all incredibly tasty. It was fun to try the local cheese (gvina tzfatit) and everyone particularly enjoyed the jars of cheeses in olive oil - one was soft cheese stuffed in a sweet hot peppers and the other was the traditional yoghurt type dairy product labanah made into balls. Yum! This was an unexpected highlight of our trip.
The idea is of course to sell Cheese..but it is wrapped in a sort of house style, you talk a bit, drink Arab coffee, taste the small but good selection of goat cheeses and famous Tsfat salty cheese and then you end up buying a bit more you were planning because the hosts are an experience by itself; one thing is for sure...the cheese never disappoints.
Friars beware. I believe in paying for good quality, but I think I overpaid for what I got here. And I GOT way more than I asked for (as in, larger slices than I could p[ossibly eat myself). I wish I felt better about the price I paid so that I could have enjoyed the cheeses... alas, not a great experience in an otherwise pretty cool town. Side note: skip the halvah or at least get a sample before you buy.
If you want to see how the cheeses are made, come early morning time.after 2 pm it is already too late. Wonderful cheeses.Buy a good sourdough at 7 grains bakery nearby. Use Google Maps to get there. Don't get confused and go to the Meiri Dairy. As you approach the Dairy the signs say Safed Cheese and and not Kadosh . Wear good shoes, some of the steps are very slippery.
The original safed cheese shop. Many types of delicious cheeses are made here . The manufacturer is the 7th generation of safed cheese maker. The cheese , made from goat milk, and is dried up, is completely different than the one available in most supermarkets. The owner is very welcoming and kind . If you go to visit theb old city of safed - dont skip this attraction.
This place sells goat cheese. It is artesian cheese and has amazing flavors. All made on sight. Sometimes you can even see the cheese being made. It has some of the best cheese you will ever eat.

Really great place to learn about how they write a mezuzah, torah and tefililn. Hands on activity, 3-D Show and other activities makes this a great place for almost any age group... (not for little children) Give yourself an hour, plus some time to browse the gift shop and enjoy a snack.
Awesome fambam❤. Fun, educational and nice scribing experienced for the whole family Yoel is very patience and good Sofer ST"M and also Revka very accomodating. Highly recommended 👍.
Lovely Torah script writing guided tour. The guide was fabulous, funny, true and very patient Thank you
Excellent place for the whole family. Were also very accomodating to our needs. Perfect from 5 and up and the 4 years old also liked some of it. The Sofer Stam was great and explained his work patiently. Definitely a to-do activity for the Tsfat area.
Very busy happening place, visiting children's groups bustling about seeming to enjoy themselves... almost too busy to give attention to individual visitors with simple questions.
Great opportunity for children to learn about writing כתבי קדש. They even get to practice with a Sofer.
Educational music and practice scribing with a scribe. Much to learn.
Very fun and interactive place not for anyone though

Beautiful building, built 1902. Until May 1948 it was the city’s central mosque, and Arabic writing is still visible above the entrance. In fact the entire Artists’ Quarter used to be an Arab quarter, and of the three that once existed it’s the only one still standing.
Beautiful art works. This gallery showing some 50 artist all of whom work and create in Safed, inspired by the town's colors and serenity.
