An amazing Greek Orthodox cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew, one of the 12 apostles of Jesus. Besides the awe-inspiring murals and mosaics decorating the interior, there are also relics of St. Andrew such as part of the top of his cranium and small portions of the cross on which he was crucified. There is a visitors center outside the church as well as restrooms and a gift shop.
Saint Andrew Church in Patras is definitely impressive in size—it’s the biggest church in Greece. The building looks grand from the outside, and the mosaics inside are nice. That said, it doesn’t feel particularly special or memorable, especially compared to some of the older, more historic churches in Greece. Still worth a quick visit if you’re in the area, but don’t expect to be blown away.
This is one of the most impressive cathedrals in the world. It is being build for over a century. Located next to the old St Andrews Church and the sacred cave where Saint Andrews use to live. The place of the church is the place of his martyrdom where the Romans crucified him on a saltire (X-shaped cross). The cathedral is home to the remains of the saint (see photo with the silver case in the shape of the church) and the remains of the cross (in the saltire casing). Visiting the place after 25 years was a pilgrimage.
The Church of Saint Andrew in Patras is one of the most magnificent and spiritually uplifting places I have ever visited. As the largest Orthodox church in Greece, it impresses not only through its monumental architecture but also through the deep sense of peace that permeates every corner. The interior is breathtaking — a masterpiece of Byzantine-inspired design, adorned with splendid frescoes, marble columns, and intricate mosaics that narrate sacred stories in vivid color. The grand dome, depicting Christ Pantocrator, dominates the space and leaves visitors in awe. The golden chandeliers, icons, and marble iconostasis all contribute to an atmosphere that feels both majestic and profoundly sacred. Of particular note is the chapel containing the relics of Saint Andrew the Apostle — the patron saint of Patras and one of the first disciples of Christ. The ornate reliquary cross and the relics themselves are beautifully displayed, radiating a strong sense of reverence and historical continuity. Every detail of the church — from the carved icon stands to the illuminated murals — speaks of centuries of faith and devotion. Whether you come as a pilgrim or simply as a traveler interested in history and architecture, the Church of Saint Andrew offers a moving experience that transcends time and culture. Visiting this holy site is not just a cultural encounter, but a deeply spiritual journey — a place where art, history, and faith unite in perfect harmony. Truly, a must-see landmark in Greece and a profound tribute to the enduring legacy of Saint Andrew the Apostle.
Such a beautiful church and apparently the biggest in Greece! No need to pay to come in. The history of it is just amazing: search it! It’s totally worth it
The church is renowned as the largest Orthodox church in Greece, with some sources noting it as the third or fourth largest Byzantine-style church in the Balkans. It hosts a massive central dome soaring to 46 m in height, crowned by a 5 m gold-plated cross, with 12 smaller crosses above the bell towers symbolizing Christ and the Apostles Religious Greece Greek City Times The vast interior spans approximately 1,900 m² (with an additional 700 m² on the upper level) and can accommodate around 7,000 worshippers If you're drawn to monumental architecture, intricate Byzantine art, and the spiritual resonance of sacred relics, the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Patras is absolutely worth visiting. It offers a serene, awe-inspiring experience-even if you're not religious. But if you're seeking the quaint charm or medieval atmosphere of ancient churches, consider pairing this visit with stops at Patras's older sacred sites.
Spectacular church where everyone is welcome to venerate the holy relics of Jesus Christ's first called disciple, who was crucified here. One of Saint Spyridon's shoes can also be found here (in the old church).
The church is magnificent and beautiful. To venerate the holy relics of St Andrew is a great blessing. ☦️

Museums
Slide 1 of 8
This place is real history. The museum is located in the school where the Kalavrita drama took place. There are five rooms with the history of the town before the war until the massacre. There is plenty of audiovisual material, with the interviews of the few survivors being the most heartbreaking. There is a museum shop with books and souvenirs, too. The website of the museum is also very informative containing plenty of digitalised authentic evidence. Don’t forget to visit the hill where the men were executed in 1943, 10-min walk from the school. All in all, a modern exhibition to keep the memory alive.
Sadly enough nearly all of the videos were only in Greek, no subtitles. Off course the text boards were in both Greek and English, but perhaps English subtitles would be a good idea, giving more feel of what happened here.
One of the best museums in Greece. It has a good mix of historical evidences, testimonies of the survivors, digital archives, collection of personal items of the martyrs, letters etc. The set up of the exhibition and the presentation was exceptional. The museum is within the school which was an important part of Kalavryta’s history. It is definitely worth a visit.
4 euros entry worth to main such a museum!!! Loved the videos and the whole presentation!
Very well documentation of the touching history of this horrific days. Thank you for showing and preparing. We were very moved and went also to the memorial hill.
It is a small museum of 4 rooms, but I think it is essential to understand well the history of kalavrita, there are some videos with some witnesses of the German olocaust. It doesn't have cruel images, but I won't suggest it for children. I suggest to visit it immediately when you get off the train.
Excellent museum that tells the terrible story of the 13 December 1943 atrocities against the people of Kalavrita. The building was the town’s school, where the population was gathered, and then separated forever. The displays and videos are extremely moving.
Amazing museum that gives you a full sight of the chronicle of the slaughter of people that stayed in Kalavryta by the nazis during the second world was! Really emotional was the fact that there are several monitors with videos with testimonies from survivors! It was very touching! Definetely recommended if you find yourself in Kalavryta!

Where to begin with this review, because this was just amazing! We had the last tour of the day and we only were with us four. So we had a private tour. The tour itself is amazing. The guide was really enthousiastic and energetic. The whole story about achaia clauss is told and a lot of rooms are shown. Some rooms contains special reserves for special people such as kings. Meanwhile you walk through the beatiful castle enjoying all the awesome views. To end the tour we had a very good wine tasting. All the wines tasted really good and we even bought some. If you like wine or want a good tour trough a castle, this is the place to be! Could not recommend it more! If we are on holiday here again, we would definitely come here again. One minor improvement: The website was a bit difficult to understand if you are not greek, also buying tickets is difficult if you are not a greek.
We arrived without reservation, but were able to book a tour anyway! The sight of the winery itself is already amazing, but the tour was the perfect finishing touch! A lovely tourguide guided us around speaking great English, and the tasting of 4 wines was amazing as well. The cellars with the kegs of wine was impressive and the smell inside delicious! I can definitely recommend this!
We are a traveling family with over than 130 million views on social media @manalbwehbeh One of the best tours ever Very nice Tasty and interesting Tasting 4 glasses Cost 18 or for each Kids frearound 30 minutes tour and then 30 minutes tasting Very nice people Don’t come to Patras without coming here!
We had the full tour in the winery, stuff was super friendly ready to answer any question and the wines that we tried were amazing! It is truly worth the visit!
My husband and I went there on a weekday and were pleasantly surprised by what this vineyard had to offer. You can take a free walk on the grounds of the property which is very scenic and beautiful or you can opt in for one of their guided tours that showcase the wine making process from 1861 until now and also offer wine tasting of 4-8 varieties depending on what package you choose. They have a very friendly staff that will serve you and also take some of those great photos. Overall a fantastic experience for scenery, tasting and learning the local history. I would recommend calling to reserve a guided tour before going. They speak Greek and English and it’s easy to follow.
Wonderful place to visit, taste and buy some of the best Greek wines. The tour guide, was given by a knowledgeable young lady who explained the history of the winery, the process of barrel making and the celars. Definitely worth the visit!
I dare to say that no trip to Patra in Greece is complete without a visit to Achaia Clauss Vineyard and Castle. The Vineyard surroundings and the Castle are majestic overlooking Patra and the sea. I suggest you make an appointment for both a tour of the cellars, and on the way down to the imperial cellar you will get a glimpse on the history of their cooperage. The imperial cellar has carved barrels back from the start with over a century old mavrodaphne wine. If you are lucky the wine tasting will take place in the Belle view cellar where you can see all their bottled wines, if not you will have a fantastic view of it from the floor of the bar and you can enjoy the view from the balcony. Fantastic wine and great staff, so don't miss it!
Was like we was in a fairy tale walking through the big wooden doors and beautiful estate. The lady who gave us a tour knew the history very well. The history is very rich and the museum with the wine barrels is amazing the smell of the old wine is addictive.

Started in a cave on a steep cliff, this monastery dating back to the 4th century is a famous sight.
Slide 1 of 8
A place of serenity but also of deep history. It is the first ever monastery (orthodox) in Greece and the second one in the world. It has been renovated and it feels brand new now. It is built in a natural cave and the rocks there as well as the view left me in wonder and awe. The energy also has something of a revolutionary vibe there given that it is also near the Church that the Greek revolution against the Ottoman empire began in 1821. Only 5 monks there live permanently at the time of my visit and they are a unique bunch as all monks are. Well worth a visit if you are in the area in my opinion. Unique art inside both new and ancient!
This great monastery began as a reclusive abandon for monks seeking solitude and serenity for their prayers. They found this within the impressive cave. Gradually, more arrived, and they started building, and it gradually evolved into the massive complex we see today. At some part, as is most common with monasteries of the late medieval times, the accumulation of wealth (offerings of the pious) and provisions (the produce of the lands of the monastery, cultivated by monks residing within) attracted invaders. Thus, they evolved not only as communities but also as defensive structures. The tower just to the left of the main entrance to the yard tells part of this story. Its height, with arrow slits at all levels, bespeaks of its function with profane eloquence. The overall site is an outstanding natural landscape with wonderful architecture and a magnificent view. It is also easy to visit and requires little time. Therefore, believer or not, it's well worth a stop.
One of the oldest, if not the oldest, monastery in Greece.. it is built on a cliff of a mountain.. for sure what we see now isn't how it was.. they renovated the monastery in 2013 last time. As you can imagine the monastery has a lot of history so you can read a book about it. Road is good to go up there. It is free for Greek orthodox , I don't know if you need a ticket for the foreign tourists... But It is logical, we pay for tickets when we visit abroad places. So tourists must not complain.
Very good experience, the church inside is amazing, the cavern is an experience. Road to reach this place is pretty full of turns….by car is OK, by bus I do not think so….
We stopped by this monastery on the way, just 30 minutes before closing. Inside the monastery, there is a small cave, but nothing too special. However, if you go up the path to the right of the monastery and go through a small gate, you’ll find a trail with amazing views of the valley. We walked quite far along it, and the views were really beautiful. Highly recommended!
Monastery Mega Spileon is a decent quick stop if you're in the area. About half an hour from the highway, you're looking at roughly a 20-minute visit to see everything. The monastery itself is kind of nice but not too exciting. There's a small museum with some religious artifacts, though nothing particularly memorable. What makes the trip worthwhile are the views - they're genuinely great and amazing. The monastery's location offers beautiful panoramic vistas that are definitely worth photographing. Overall, it's a reasonable quick stop for the scenic views, but don't expect it to be a highlight. Worth a brief visit if you have extra time, but not a destination in itself.
The Holy Monastery of Mega Spileon is magnificent - packed with history, spirituality, and dramatic natural setting. A must-visit.
We checked this place online and it said it’s free entrance so we jumped in a car and drove an hour to see a monastery. We were so excited, enjoyed breathtaking views all along our way. When we got inside and were enjoying nice art inside a museum we were greeted by a monk who told us that it cost 3 euros each to be there. We did not have any cash and he told us that in mountains nobody takes credit cards which is not true because everyone else had no problem with it. He basically asked to leave… so disappointing … and misleading…

Great museum, maybe equally rich as the Archeological museum in Athens, but much more interesting for sightseeing, because there's not even 10% of visitors compared to Athen's museum, so you can really enjoy it. It covers different periods through millennia, you can see wonderful mosaics, vases, coins, helmets and even skeletons. If you're on summer vacation, don't forget that Greece is not only the sea and beach, but also much more than that. Recommendation - must see it!
We went the first Sunday of the month so the entry was free. The museum was lovely and I was very impressed with the collection of artifacts that it has. My personal favourite was the glass section as it was so colourful and mesmerising, but it has plenty of impressive things. In general the place is very pretty and has a beautiful olive tree as you walk towards the entrance that really adds to the atmosphere.
Wonderful collection, wonderfully presented. With items from the Neolithic, the Mycenean, the Geometric, the Archaic, the Classical, the Hellenistic, and the Roman period, all portrayed in excellent displays that do their best to reconstruct the original setting of the exhibits, this museum offers a comprehensive as well as a pleasant journey into the past. Spacious, bright, and modern, this museum offers a fully enjoyable experience. Its spacious corridors enable the visitor to see it through within an hour, while it also allows comfortable space for those who wish to study the findings longer.
Unbelievable treasures await at this beautiful museum. I had no idea Patras' history was this rich. Many intact antiquities are housed in a beautiful modern museum with a cute cafe and a small eclectic shop. You can appreciate the collections from closer than most museums because of the incredible way they have arranged and displayed them. Lots of parking and close to the main port. I think it's a must-see!
I spent about 1.5 hour at this museum. I think you should definitely visit here if you are new to Patra. I am glad to see that evey sign has English translation which is very considerate of them. The ticket is 10 euro but I later learn you can get a student price too. I which there's something more to see at the second floor. Would be perfect if they have English tour or interactive kiosk screen. You can also perchance some their merch near entrance.
Excellent museum with a small but great collection of various ancient artefacts! The mosaics in particular are fantastic and some of the best I’ve seen- many about 1500 to 2000 years old. Also the collection of sculptures and glass artefacts is amazing. Allow 1 - 1.5 hours to see this at leisure.
A neat and modern museum not to be missed. You can admire mosaics dating back to the Greco-Roman period and modern art.
Great museum. Thoughtfully curated and laid out in a themed way rather than a strict chronological way which l felt was a great idea and made for a better understanding of the exhibits. Lovely building design. Good toilet facilities and lots of parking. It is a direct turning off of a busy dual carriageway so exiting was tricky, you need to wait for the lights to change further back up the road yo give you a clear road. Well worth the 10 euro each to visit and parking free.

The Cave of Lakes is a very beautiful, pleasant, and fascinating place. It has high ceilings and many stalactites that look like giant lamps or pieces of fabric. There is lighting all along the cave, which creates a magical atmosphere. There is a comfortable and safe ramp to walk on, and it’s nice to follow the guide. The tour is given in both Greek and English. Entrance costs €9 for adults and €4.5 for children. The walking path is only 500 meters long, but the experience is impressive. This is one of the best caves we have visited. Everything is clean, well-kept, and organized. Tours start according to a schedule — a new group begins approximately every 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take a picture of the exact timetable. Phone cameras are allowed, but using flash is not permitted. In general, with a stabilizer, you can get excellent photos and videos. Note that the cave is closed on Tuesdays, like many attractions in Greece.
What an amazing cave, so unique, natural shaped lakes inside a huge cave that one of a kind in the world because of its form, 13 lakes in 8 levels and so impressive! There are findings from prehistoric era to late bronze era. The museum is so modern and the guides are so well educated that you will understand the as far known history definitely.
I had high hopes for Kastria Cave, but it turned out to be quite disappointing given the effort required to get there. The journey is a major drawback - about an hour's drive from the main highway through winding mountain roads. For what you get at the end, the travel time simply isn't justified. Once you arrive, the actual cave experience is surprisingly brief. You're looking at maybe 10 minutes of walking inside, which feels incredibly short after such a long drive. The cave isn't particularly large or impressive compared to other cave systems I've visited. Overall, I'd recommend skipping this one unless you're already in the immediate area. The combination of the lengthy drive and brief visit makes it hard to recommend. There are much better caves and natural attractions in Greece that offer better value for your time and effort. Save yourself the trip and visit somewhere more accessible
We visited the cave on Sunday morning. We arrived around 9:30 and were among the first there. Even when we left, it wasn’t crowded at all. It’s a bit chilly inside the cave, so it’s recommended to bring a long-sleeve shirt, but it’s not mandatory—we managed fine with short clothes and sandals. The place is amazing!! For anyone staying in the area, it’s definitely worth the 30–60 minute drive. On our tour there were only two families in total, both English-speaking, but the guide barely spoke English and couldn’t explain much beyond a few words and pantomime. You can download an audio guide at the entrance, but of course, it’s not the same. I tried to follow along with the audio guide, but the guide was rushing and didn’t match the audio guide pace. That’s the only point for improvement. Definitely recommended to visit the place—and finish it off with ice cream.
I would probably give it 4 stars if the guide was better. The most interesting stuff seems to be what you can't visit. Basically not much of a "lake" cave as the lakes are dry for much of the year. Also this Greek trick of lying about the actual time the tour will start is very annoying.
Was an ok experience. The cave itself is super interesting but during aummer time not filled with water. A real bummer was that the tour was only in greek. Included in the tixket was the museum which was in english again and really interesting
I had the pleasure of visiting this cave on October 6th 2025, and it was an amazing experience. The cave itself was absolutely beautiful, with stunning formations and a unique atmosphere that made the visit unforgettable. Our tour guide was extremely helpful and friendly, speaking both Greek and English to make sure everyone could follow along and enjoy the tour. The nearby museum was also fantastic, showcasing various fascinating findings that were discovered inside the cave. Overall, a truly memorable visit! I highly recommend it!
As a nature made marvel it is amazing. Though the lights inside are mainly off Some burned some dim. Could have been better As for the guide spoke only greek Fast tracked the entire cave and then said ok bye. Its low season so i hope they would upgrade for the next visit

Very nice place not far from Athens. The bad thing is they close at 4 o'clock . Have a very big free parking.
I wrote this review a few months ago but I think it may have been removed. The people who were fitting boots and skis didn't care at all. One of my relatives who came with us was even given to different sized skis, and all the boots and skis were wet and worn, resulting in uncomfortable skiing later. Inside the eating area, people were bringing in their dogs and smoking inside, even though there were chairs and space outside. The lift operators didn't care about inexperienced adults and children, and wouldn't help you unless you went to the expense of an instructor. The day after we got there, lines of people were waiting to hire gear, lines of people to get passes, lines of people waiting for lifts, and kilometres of cars waiting to get up, all the way down to Kalavryta. The man on the microphone also kept announcing about how different gear sizes were running out. None of the people working there were doing anything to stop people from wasting their time waiting in lines. There was also only ONe toilet block and thousands of people being let onto the mountain. The lines were huge and they weren't stopping people, the workers there were rude(most, one person in the hire place was really helpful), the people in the eating area were smoking with their dogs, there weren't enough toilets, and it was unorganised The snow was the best l've ever seen though, but dont go
The place is quite small. There were too many people, the queue to the lifts were insane as it looked endless! The rent shop became out of stock as they were out of the rental equipment due to high demand. Have never seen something like this in other places. The only thing made mood better is snowmobile experience. The scenery around is beautiful.
My favorite resort in Greece. New lifts , great ski slopes for all levels.
Very beautiful mountains surround the ski centre. I was quite unexpected to see snow in Greece. The plateau where the ski centre is located is breathtaking. I wish I could have spent some more time over there.
I am from Qatar, i went to the ski cente with my family. It was a great experience and we had a lot of fun. The place is so huge and breathtaking. It is a bit a crowdy but its fine. Also, the people were friendly and kind. It was worth 2 hours going to from megara. Thanks💗
We went there at the end of October. There was no snow. I just wanted to see it after many years. The cold 🥶 is real there. It was freezing and it wasn't e en winter yet! Majestic scenery eveb without snow, as you can see in the photos. Good hike to the top, but bring good clothing.
This place has "the vibes". Feels like a "family" to me... from the people who work there all the way to the management its too personal and when I go there I feel like home. Also they show interest in us ski mountaineers and care for our safety even when leaving the ski resort area. Chelmos mountain ⛰️ definitely has some extreme and challenging places to ski mountaineer with amazing descents. Gullys, south slopes and a lot of cliffs ✌️

One of the staple destinations of anyone walking the rich path of Greece's history! A truly beautiful monastery and the place where the Greek revolution of 1821 kicked off with the ultimate goal of driving of the Turkish occupation of the country that lasted 400 years. As such the holy monastery of Agia Lavra, has always been a place of great importance for the Greek people.
A beautiful monastery nestled in the heart of the mountains ⛰️, surrounded by lush trees 🌳 and vibrant flowers 🌺. This is the historic site where the Greek War of Independence 🇬🇷 began in 1821 — a truly symbolic and inspiring place to visit 🫡.
Near Mega Spilaion is another historic monastery. Agia Lavra monastery, built around 961 after Christ.. again centuries old monastery.. up in the mountains .. near beautiful kalavryta village. During the greek revolution, it was burned by the Turks.. definitely worth a visit , road is good until the monastery.. fresh air up in the mountains ...
It is hard to believe that in this peaceful and quiet place the seeds of the Greek War of Independence were sown about 200 years ago. There, in 18.3.1821, the local rebels raised the flag of the Greek Revolution War and for this reason this impressive monastery of Agia Lavra, has such a great importance in the history of Greece. The monastery is open to the public and it is located in the heart of the mountains, 4 km west of Kalavryta. It has a small beautiful museum inside and the whole site is very inspiring, and strongly recommended! Don't miss also the Mega Spilaio Monastery located 10km north-east to Kalavryta!
A simple monastery and place of workshop, it saw some of the fiercest fighting during the Greek war of Independence in 19th century and the Second World War. It is a a sombre place with historical significance, where a rag tag group of resistance fighters launched the fight that later lead to the foundation of Modern Greece. The nearby town of Kalyvryta is 5 minutes away and worth a stop.
Of you have the slightest idea about Greek independence revolution against Turks, you MUST visit this place. It's where the Greeks gave their oath to God that they will give their life for freedom back in 1821 At the same place the Nazis executed 4 remaining elder monks on 14 of December 1943. This happened the next day after an holocaust committed by Nazi occupation troops in Kalavryta, during World War II. The Germans executed almost all the male inhabitants of the town and then burned Kalavryta. Germans did NOT any pay any war compensations to Greece until now.
Great monastery with very important historical value. They still keep the banner under which the Greek rebels swore their oath against the Ottoman empire by the Guidance of Palaion Patron Germanos.
This was the most amazing spiritual journey arriving in this monastery and walking through the beauty of the church and special attention by the monks made this experience heartwarming

Exciting visit, carnival, everything there, it's amazing! Don't know about public transportation, climbed hundreds of steps, but it's worth it! I mean it's amazing and beautiful! If God gives a good weather, maybe it will be even better!
They should definitely charge and id happily pay. It's a fantastic place and you can tell it's been heavily invested in. Wow.
This was a pretty cool Castle, and the views are spectacular from many spots overlooking the sea and the city. We were able to just walk through on our own to explore. No fees to visit, and washrooms on site too.
A free and delightful way to take in the stunning views of Patras. There is an area where you could bring some lunch and sit and enjoy the peace and the views too! There is also a clean toilet on site, which was handy.
Complimentary sightseeing experience, place to go for amazing view to the city and sea!
Beautiful, well-kept & clean. Free parking & entrance. Perfect picnic spot too! Would recommend
The grounds are well kept and the views from the top of the castle are breathtaking
Amazing castle, with wonderful history and amazing views, just on top of the city. Totally worth it and it’s free, no need to pay!

This is a magical place, one of the most beautiful lakes in Greece, if not the most beautiful. Clear waters, amazing spot for picnic 🧺 I believe it will be a nice place to swim as well during summer months. The road from Athens to Zachlorou, which you take to reach the lake is closed and you have to take a not so pleasant detour, therefore be advised.
Magical place! Good road, delicious tavern right on the lake. Perfect water temperature for swimming. Canoe rental for 15€ pp. Not crowded.
One of the best, most natural, compact and breath-taking lakes in Greece. Suitable for swimming, kayaking, camping and picnicking. The combination of colours in summer and autumn can really make one fall in love with this lake. Totally recommended!
Beautiful destination, worthy visiting. You can park the car near the road & walk to the lake or if you have the right car, drive down to the lake. A tavern "Paradeisos" is near the lake (we drove there), good food & nice people.
Nice place if you like to relax in nature and away from everything. Great for swimming, water is clear and ideal temperature in the summer, good for canoe rides. Amazing picnic spot.
So close to Akrata! A magic scenery and a fabulous lake
The drive from Akrata is breathtaking. Also the lake itself. Worth doing a day trip and good food at the tavern.
One of the most beautiful lakes of Greece this place is worth visiting all year round as the colors change monthly. Please respect the environment, this lake is small and vulnerable, on my last visit after one major greek national holiday the shore around the lake was full of garbage, left-overs and discarded kites. I wonder why the local authorities do nothing about it, but I’m not surprised.

Ancient amphitheater rebuilt after WWII, hosting summer concerts & theater performances.

A beautiful little Roman amphitheatre that is smack in the middle of Patras. Surrounded by parks, cafes and other assorted shops, it is worth popping in to see. Entry is free.
Well preserved site.
If you love old architectural ruins which are reminiscent of the glorious past, then the Roman Odeon will be a treat to your eyes and to your soul. The Roman Odeon has essentially become a theatre and might we add, the most beautiful of them all. The whole structure is made up only with Wood, Marble, Rocks and bricks. No cement was used and it has a tingling natural aroma of the wood and marble. It is a pretty sight and leaves you with a sense of joy and ecstasy and thoughtfulness. Witnessing a play here is purely pristine and you would be able to get all the information that you need at the information kiosk. Visit the Castle of Patras nearby and have a complete experience of the architectural magnificence that this place has to offer.
I just could walk at the outside. Impressing building, and ancient structures all around
It is free!!!!!!! Can you believe it?! Just pay attention cause it is open only till 15.00 Something that nobody says: you xan test the acustic by speaking when you are on stage... in one point, around the front middle, when you speak, you will hear the voice on your head, like a microphone, and you will be heard everywhere. It is INCREDIBLE
Very simple and look very modern . Nothing special in that place although it is a free entrance
Very nice archaeological site of a roman conservatory still in use for concerts.
Place with some nice history. Worth the visit.

Very nice place to visit. Everything is well maintained and the garden is very beautiful. Ticket is cheap at only 3€ per person. Just bring some water with you, especially on hot days, because you will need it since the whole experience is like a big hike. The view is incredible also.
Excellent site. I spent three winters living in a Mycenaean burial chamber in Mikinis so it feels like home to me. This is a very good site and worth seeing. Many tombs
If you are in Patra you can not miss this place. The cost of the ticket is 3 euros, watch out cause at 15.30 closes, like almost the most of Patra's historical places. The necropolis is pretty big, around 70 tombs, 2 of which are enormous. You can also have a small walk to reach the settlement on the next hill. The entire tour takes around 40 minutes. Here you will have also an amazing view of Patra, from the bridge to almost Kyllini. I suggest to combine the tour with the visit of the archeological museum, cause all the things found in the tombs are there. I want to point out also the incredible garden that surrounds the tombs, kept in perfect condition from the workers themselves. 5 stars
Well....it was closed. It would have been really helpful if the googlemps information had been updated to reflect this as driving across the Corinth bridge and back in our planned visit cost us 30 euros! There are other reasons to visit Patras, we went to the archeological museum, but had we known this site was closed we may have postponed until another visit....in effect for us thid was 50 Euros to visit one museum - the museum is fab BTW...incidentally l did know about the wildfire affe ting the site and had checked the website a few weeks ago to see if it was still open and at that point it was saying the site was still open but with reduced access due to some damage....ho hum...
A “gate to eternity” near Patra! Very important archeological site from 1500bc. A must visit and so well maintained place. Another plus is the view to patras gulf.
Just amazing place! Ticket cost 3 EUR for one adult person. No dogs allowed
Fascinating site. Well preserved. Good information signs and beautiful views with places to sit and relax.
Great place to visit , beautiful landscape specially during spring, the view is amazing and the archaeological site well maintained.

Located atop a hill offering a breathtaking panorama, this memorial is worth visiting. Its long history of construction provides insights into the history of Greece from the end of the 19th century AD until today. The memorial has been renovated in 2021 on account of the 200th anniversary of the outbreak of the Greek Revolution (Ελληνική επανάσταση), an event that was initiated in the Monastery of Aghia Lavra which is situated in walking distance from the Memorial. A great place to visit both for history addicts and families. Free parking is available for hundreds of cars.
A memorial to all those who gave their life for all of us to be free at 1821 !! It was finished at 2021 for the celebration of 200 years. PS. Great panoramic view of Kalavryta.
A huge in size memorial of the independence war against the occupation of the ottomans in 1821
We start in the same time the war against the Otoman Empire in the year 1821!!!Romania and Greece!!!
A must see monument.
A beautiful memorial with a spectacular view. A must stop for those who enjoy a nice scene.
Visited this monument twice, in 1973 and 2017. It was imposing then and now ever more symbolic. This area is the cradle of the modern Greek nation’s struggle and birth after so many centuries of occupation. It is a miracle that it ever emerged but it did in 1821 and thereafter from these same hills and small towns. Modern Greece owes a historical debt to those few who dared to dream of building a nation...
In 500 m distance from the monastery of Agia Lavra is this powerful monument. Easy to find it if you continue driving from the monastery further 2 more minutes. Don't miss this place!!!!

Perfect place in the perfect town
There is no rack rail on the place pointed on maps. It shows somewhere lost in garden. For rack rail you have to go to railway station
(Translated by Google) Hike from Kato Zachlorou to Diakopto, awesome autumn route. Terrible natural beauty of the canyon. Easy downhill route, following the train tracks. Watch out for the train crossing only (find out about the timetables) (Original) Πεζοπορία από Κάτω Ζαχλωρου έως Διακοπτο, φοβερή φθινοπωρινή διαδρομή. Τρομερή φυσική ομορφιά του φαραγγιού. (Translated by Google) We took the 9:52 a.m. train from Diakopto to Zachorou. We took the path to the monastery 1 hour before going up. 3€ for adults to visit the monastery then 30 mins back down. Then we walked along the path to return. The path itself is not difficult but the most tiring thing is walking on the large stones that make up the railway line. Take good shoes because you can easily twist your ankle. We took a photo of the train schedule and took 2 breaks while waiting for it to pass to avoid problems, especially during the canyon section. It took us almost 4 hours.
(Translated by Google) Superb hike for lovers of walking and wide open spaces. However, we found little recent information regarding the hike along the rack railway in the gorges. We hiked halfway from Diakopto to Zachlorou station, which is 12.5km (you can do the entire 22km hike to Kalavritra). The difficulty of the hike is mainly between km 6 and 8 where the difference in altitude is significant and the ballasts (stones around the railway) increase the difficulty on the slope. You can also do it in the other direction and the hike will then be mainly downhill. Good shoes and a minimum of physical condition necessary if you want to do it in 3 hours as indicated at the station. Pay attention to train times which are becoming rare. In addition, the ticket must be purchased at Diakopto station if you plan to return by train. For the route, just follow the railways so as not to get lost, watch out for the tunnels at the end of the route, you will not be able to pass through them at the same time as the train. Hike done in mid-September with very few tourists.
