Great place for hangout and pass the weekend. You can eat lots of fish items. Sea beach was too good -- you can swim, play volleyball etc.
Wonderful place to visit with family with great picturesque. The place is so lively and you get to have some delicious sea food. You got to see the beautiful sea gull flying around.
Great views of the town
Relaxing, picturesque spot on the Baltic Sea.
We visited early in the morning just as the place was coming to life. A very pleasant place to visit.
A must see place of you are around

Great place. You can climb the lighthouse and get great views. The beaches in the area are great. There is some fabulous public sculpture in the area too. The famous teapot building is close by.
We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the stops was Warnemunde. We walked around the town self guided using google maps. The town is rather small so it did not take long to see it all. The lighthouse is in a busy part of town on the dock area. It was easy to get to the lighthouse for an up close view. Built in 1898 and very much a part of the town.
I visited this lovely coastal town of Warnemünde whilst on a cruise. I only spent a couple of hours but was really impressed.
It’s a must place to visit while sightseeing in Rostock, In the area u also have the opportunity to visit the public beach areas plus don’t stop at the lighthouse, if you walk further u will come to a sea point where u can see two further lighthouses and also big ships coming towards the harbor.. Interesting and beautiful scenerio.. A must place in Rostock
The Warnemünde Lighthouse, a striking landmark in Rostock, Germany, stands tall at 37 meters on the Unterwarnow estuary. Erected in 1898 with white glazed bricks, it offers panoramic views from its two galleries. Once operated by a keeper, it's now automated, guiding ships with its light visible for 20 nautical miles.
It was very nice place to visit one should depart here early in the morning. And enjoy the sun near to the beach and play and take the sunshine. I love this place a lot if you need any more information you may text me at Instagram @ashwani17000
The lighthouse is definitely worth to see! Amazing view, you can read about a technology used for signaling, what's really interesting. Only what I didn't like was how the stuff haven't been speaking even a word in other language than German and even haven't been trying.
It’s nice and relaxing.

Beautiful church with stunning exterior as well as interior. It really feels like this church shows how strong Rostock was back in the days. If you are a student, you only pay 2 euros for the entrance fee. It’s a neat church overall, but the astrological clock inside is amazing. It really makes you wonder how people of the past could come up with the idea of creating it.
St. Mary's Church is the largest church in Rostock, Germany. I love its red brick Gothic architecture! It really stands out from all angles in the city!! I was looking forward to seeing its astronomical clock that I had heard about. Unfortunately, even though it said it was supposed to be open on the website, sadly, it wasn't. We walked around the entire building several times to try to find an open door, but no luck.
Absolutely breathtaking and fascinating! We really enjoyed getting to look around and see the beautiful stained glass windows and the incredible grandfather clock!
Fantastic church there is a small fee to enter , but it is well worth it. If you can get there for around midday to see the medieval clock play it is well worth it (can be found behind the altar) . There are lots of tombs and an amazingly decorated organ. Well worth a visit
Amazing Medieval Astronomical clock still in working order! Make sure you're there for 12 noon clock melody and moving Saints.
Came here to Costal Germany: St. Mary's Church (Marienkirche), Rostock Location: The church is located in the city center (Stadtmitte) of Rostock. Address: Its address is typically listed as Bei der Marienkirche 3, 18055 Rostock, Germany. It is easily recognizable by its towering, massive brick structure and the specific color pattern on the tower (alternating dark/green-glazed and red unglazed bricks, particularly visible on the sides of the transept and tower), which is characteristic of the building's various construction phases. The St. Mary's Church is famous for being the largest church in Rostock and for housing a magnificent, functional medieval astronomical clock dating from 1472.
This church is very special! Highly recommended. There are some decorations related to the characteristics of this city: harbour. In addition, the astronomical clock is also amazing. It has worked for more than 500 years and provides a lot of calendar/astronomical information. I like this clock more than the one in Prague. After visiting this church, I donated some money because I hope that anything in church can be maintained in a good condition.
A must see church! Amazing astronomical clock inside. Entry is 4 euros

It's worth the money. There are many wild and domestic animals to see. Along with some evolution concepts. Of course, polar bear is the highlight, but there are many more animals to enjoy.
Excellent zoo! It's very large and clean. So many of the animals were out and about (not just hiding) they seemed so comfortable and calm. Excellent for family's. Lots of clean bathrooms too (very important to me)
One of the best zoo’s I have been too. Lots of areas for kids to plays and an amazing variety of animals. We stopped here while on a cruise a terrific surprise as we had not planned on going here.
This is one of the nicest zoo I’ve visited in a long time. Many benches with a view. We never found the polar bears and the big octopus 🐙 but beside of that a nice day in Rostock Zoo.
A fantastic zoo!! There are many types of animals, and the staff at the souvenir shop are very enthusiastic and helpful🤗The new red panda Pjat is so cute! I hope he and Jordan can get along well🥰🥰The environment is very good, and there is a beautiful garden. Try to go as early as possible, as the weather is getting hot and many animals are hiding to sleep at noon, can't see them
I like it a lot because there were a lot of different animals all the way from deers to big cats to fish and birds and also monkeys The polarbears were very crowded with peace but after a while it was ok The souvenir shop at the end was filled with a lot of good toys for little kids and also some other things at a good price
If you’ve been to the Berlin zoo, it’ll be pretty disappointing. It’s cute and well laid out but pretty small. Suitable for small children.
This was the most amazing Zoo we have ever seen. The animals are well looked after. All the animals seemed to be extremely happy. Their enclosures are very large, and clean. This zoo has a great breeding program that is extremely successful as most of the enclosures had a baby in there. If I could give it more stars I would. The cost was good value for money. It took us the whole day to go around it.

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the stops was warnemunde. It is a small town so we were easily able to walk self guided all around using google maps. The Strand is a very lively area overlooking the water. Full of shops and restaurants. A fun place to spend a few hours.
Amazing place. We really loved in the morning when it was sunny and also in the evening with glittering light houses. Very peaceful place and easy to reach. There are few small restaurants to grab snacks and drinks. You can relax here for the whole, walking around or sitting there. Water was a bit cold for me so I couldn't stay in water for long. Definitely a must go place.
If you like fresh seafood and nice beaches definitely worth visiting. We went to the beach bit early (around 9 am) so able to find a good place. The water was clear, not many waves, and less crowded in the morning. Can be easily accessed via Warnemünde S Bahn station.
Best place to visit in summer. Just plan if it’s more than 20C plus wind speed is not more then 12km/h. Otherwise bring a camp or jacket to feel warm. Lot of places to eat around and also enjoy the water. There is a kinder park near by but there are not many stuff for kids to do. Water is warm in summer just the cold wind makes it uncomfortable to stay. Anything above 20C is perfect of beach 🏖 and some sun. There are some places you can rent but it cost around 5€per hour.
Very nice & longest sand beach around 30km with many attractions, beach is great separate due to your needs(fór families, with dogs,fór camping & Also fór FKK),,theres Also long promenade with small shops and at the end is large harbour( place for geatest photos to do)
Warnemünde Strand is a coastal paradise, and its sunsets are absolutely stunning. The beauty of this beach goes beyond its sandy shores and clear waters—it's the sunsets that truly steal the show. As the sun begins to set, the sky over Warnemünde Strand transforms into a breathtaking display of colors. The warm oranges and pinks mix with the cool blues of the sea, creating a mesmerizing painting in the sky. You'll have plenty of space on the beach to find your ideal spot for watching the sunset. Whether you decide to sit on the sand, take a leisurely stroll along the promenade, or relax at one of the beachfront cafes, you're in for a treat. The soothing sounds of the waves in the background add to the magic of the moment. And as the sun dips below the horizon, casting a shimmering reflection on the water, you'll be left in awe of nature's beauty. These sunsets at Warnemünde Strand are not just a visual delight; they're an experience that leaves a lasting impression. It's the kind of sunset that makes you pause, reflect, and feel grateful for the simple joys in life. In summary, Warnemünde Strand is the perfect place to witness some of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable. It's a destination that reminds us of the wonders of the natural world and leaves us feeling deeply appreciative.
It's a big nice beach. Denmark is just 70 km opposite. Baltic sea water is a bit cold even in summer. You can find lots of fish based dishes on the way to the beach. Swimming is allowed and safe. This review is not about the FKK/nude beach.

A beautiful church with two model ships suspended in the aisles. Was fortunate to enter before a service and hear the beautiful organ.
A very beautiful evangelische church witin the city. The architecture is neo-gothic and is almost completeyl made up of red stone. Is widely visited by most of the people who visit Warnemünde. There is a big parking lot and a decent market place with shopping and eating joints around the church area.
Pretty location, and what is actually a very well constructed church, however it is not open to visitors (at least on the day we were there).
This church, in its simplicity, somehow manages to impose itself as an elegant and dominating landmark.
It's a beautiful church. Adds to the beauty of warnemunde. 😊
Very nice and quiet reflective place. Has a nice video audio display about the organs of the church, but text is in German only, but you can listen to the sound

Very good port facilities and great street food places. Came to know when visiting Germany/ Warnemunde. Modern and we'll equiped. From here one can go to Berlin by train. Enjoyed it. 👍👍
If it so happens that you are traveling by car through Berlin and decide you need to go to Copenhagen, this port is pretty much the only option you have. I see no issues with it other than it wasn’t really hospitable to anyone taking the ferry so don’t come expecting anything other than finding your ferry and driving onto it. There’s nothing good or bad to be said about the boarding process. It was easy. The ferry itself is very nice and comfortable so no complaints here at all.
This place has one of the best street seafood I have ever eaten.... My personal favorite was fish and chips and batter fired squid with garlic and local river was fantastic specially if any cruise ships r docked 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes, if want to buy some drink, this a good place and good price, esspecially for seaman.. Plenty bottle here.. But stay save from alcohol..
A nice place to visit during weekends… From Stadthafen Rostock, you can take ferry to the Warnemünde beach and come back… it’s a worth visiting place when in Rostock…
Port is easy to access, clean and secure
One of the busy port of Germany i love Stena Lines. the way they approach truck driver like me from 🇵🇭

Vividly evokes the Stasi era, surprise arrests, no clear "crimes", interrogations, no criticism of government allowed. (Sounds a lot like what current POTUS is doing in 2025). Holding cells, escape stories. Unfortunately the City council doesn't allow better signage, so you have to check round corners to find the entrance.
Would be better if there would be more English descriptions, however, even the visit of a jail ifself is Interesting enough. Entrance is free.
Was really cool. Loads of info about how the prison was kept and some of the prisoners who stayed there. Luckily Google lens can translate the info for me because everything was in German.
Very interesting place we'll worth a visit and it's free admission.
Very interesting tot have a look behind a Stasi jail. No fee, wel organised and there is a lot of information available.

Great University located near the Baltic Sea. Great for academic development and Research
"Traditio sine innovatio" is the actual motto of this university because 'progress' is a term this establishment rarely uses. The University of Rostock is a place I spent seven years trying to get my teaching career going - would have been five if the bureaucratic system, student involvement and communication wasn't as bad as it is: The university's justiciary and overcomplicated systems such as using more than four online platforms to sign up for studies, refusing good tools like Zoom for worse ones like Big Blue Button and being stubborn and inhumane are the reasons why up to the very last day of my studies, the University of Rostock misgendered and deadnamed me. (In contrast: The University of Music and Theatre Rostock, banks, insurances and even the Ministry of Education managed to adapt to my current data within 24h after notice.) This university has many buildings since it is decentralised. Some buildings are clean and modern, most are in decay - especially the tragedy that is Parkstraße 6. No surprise with its nickname being 'green monster' - moldy green to be specific. My 2 stars go to the main building at Universitätsplatz 1 which is the standard the entire university should reach for, and to the kind professors and teachers who treated the students well and evaluated fairly. Obviously, there are black sheep such as a psychology professor who demands students to buy her book or else, they won't succeed in the exam, and another one in the philosophy section whose opinion must be replicated or else, it's a fail. Though these types of unqualified staff are a minority in my opinion. The true awfulness of this university lies in the architecture, system, judiciary, lack of support and discrimination. If you would like to become a teacher and study in Rostock, choose music and theatre to spend the least amount at the main university and instead be at the University of Music and Theatre Rostock - which beats this university in almost every metric. The drop-out rates for this university here speaks for itself.

A charming little fountain with a unique and eye-catching design. The area can feel a bit touristy at times, but it’s still worth a quick stop if you’re nearby.
A very nice fountain in the pedestrian zone in Rostock. The university building of 1419 completes the great view.
The Brunnen der Lebensfreude (Fountain of Joy of Life) located in Rostock, Germany is certainly unique! I've never seen anything like it. It’s a well-known fountain in the heart of Rostock’s city center. There are several bronze sculptures of people dancing, running, laughing, and laying down all surrounding the water fountains. They definitely seem to be enjoying life!! It just seemed a little odd to me to see all the children playing on them. Everyone seemed happy and innocent, though, so I guess that's all that matters!
It was working on this May 1 visit to Rostock. My wife’s name is Joy and the fountain is named Joy so what more do I need to say?
Interesting fountain and nice architecture around.
I love this place You can have your food or drink your coffe and watch the littel child playing there . You can also youse the free wifi from the next library
Cities should establish more fountains like this one! It was a perfect place for kids to play, running around the water in hot weather while parents could sit and enjoy beer/Rostock. 5stars

Church rebuilt after being destroyed in WWII. Plain interior is a work in progress. Parts of the church are used as a rotating display gallery. Votive Ship models hanging from the ceiling are a new innovation. Of interest in understanding the challenges of living a religious like in East Germany (DDR) after WW2. The replacement stained glass windows, created during the communist era, are impressive and interesting. Gift Shop just inside main door.
Classic tourist trap. 4 euros to go to the top and have an obstructed view with windows covered in wired mesh. Should 100% be free. Very disappointing.
Very unique experience. Super friendly staff. Small souvenir shop onsite to support the church.
The church is a three-nave Basilica with a high cross-vaulted ceiling in the west tower. The design of the dividing inner-wall exhibits the round-arched arcade design typical of Roman-Gothic style.
You can go to the top (up 4 floors) by elevator or steps. Their is 169 stone circular steps with 28 wooden steps totalling 197 - trust me we walked them. Once you get to the top you can pay to look in a telescope but pictures are free. The bottom floor is fantastically painted and designed.

I came to visit Rostock from Potsdam and fell in love with the northern German architecture in general. The pointy top and robust-looking bricks make in uniquely aesthetic. This gate is where you start the tour for the old city and has a tram station right next to it. Enjoy!
Beautiful buildings around.
A place with good ambience. It is a place with a historical significance. It used to be one of the Gates to enter the fortified city of Rostock. One of the only two remaining gates. Pay visit and have a walk around the remaining walls around the east of the city.
Rostock is very pretty, the Steintor is very imposing and well maintained. Placed in the middle of the road, you can't miss it. Best regards #B4YOUDISCOVERY

Absolutely amazing free of charge museum that deep dives into historical moments starting from medieval times! Benches are available throughout all halles, foldable chairs are available for pickup at entrance. Super friendly staff! Pity that dedicated to 1945 expo isn't in English :(
I was glad that the first part of the museum of Rostock history had English translations, but the most interesting exhibition for 1945 didn't had. I hope in the future will be added. Otherwise the museum is very nice and with free entrance.
I really enjoyed the Culture Museum, there were a lot of activities for kids, fun for adults too, which made the information even more interesting.
A lovely place. The texts explaining each exhibited piece are both in German and English, the workers are friendly and the items on display interesting. There are also interactive elements for children or anyone curious :) The entrance is free, taking photos costs 2€. There's a lot of things relating to the city's history but on the second floor you'll also get to see quite a few international paintings. Overall, it's a very cute and interesting museum and I would definitely recommend you visit it!
Great museum to visit and learn the amazing city that is Rostock.
Museum is free. They tell that you pay 2 EUR if you take photos, but they do not control it, so it works with honesty. You can put money inside the saving box at the end. Most importantly, do not forget to visit the second floor, especially, if you are with kids. There are very interesting old toys.
We visited here in May 2017 and enjoyed it. We stumbled upon it while in Rostock for the day while our cruise ship was docked in nearby Warnemunde and this was a very neat find. They have a lot of unusual items.
