The fish (a small cod, everyone in the party ordered the same) was so wonderfully flavorful and soft, and the chips were clearly freshly made and tasted amazing, not to mention that the staff multiple times approached to ask us if we wanted any more chips: having the option to have more chips, if the original portion isn't enough, is incredibly lovely, and we were all beyond grateful for the offer, however chose not to have more, as we figured the portions already on our plate were enough for our needs. We decided to try the take away after a few days rest, this time as we were not as hungry but just greedy to retry this superb place so we had a home made fishcake with chips and shared this sat outside on the bench. You do have to wait while everything is cooked fresh and as stated for eating inside the restaurant it is well worth the wait. Again the chips were excellent and the fishcake really has to be tried to be believed. The homemade breadcrumb coating is a real compliment to the delicious interior of succulent tasty fish. I cannot recommend this place highly enough the food could not have been better well done to everyone involved here an absolute gem.

The room has one opaque window as per picture that looks out onto a noisy extractor fan which means the window needs to be kept closed. You can also hear noises from the kitchen below. This means that the room is dark, stuffy and noisy. The bed is a small double which was far too small for us to sleep comfortably. As a result of all of the above, I had a very poor night's sleep. The food was expensive and average. The one positive was the service at breakfast which was cheerful and efficient. The hotel should either not be using this room for guests or providing a warning on the issues and charging appropriately.

This was my second visit in 3 years (too long) and once again, Rockfish delivered. Tempura Prawns and grilled Gurnard with Romesco. The main course was totally memorable. The staff were very helpful although I would say we were informed about the catches of the day maybe slightly too late as we had already made our minds up from looking at the menu provided and didn’t know there was even more to choose from! The atmosphere was lively when we arrived, and I think perhaps the restaurant would have benefitted from a little more sound insulation as it was quite loud. It was ok for me but my parents were struggling a little with the noise levels. Overall a fantastically delicious meal in a lovely setting in the Exeter Quay. We will be back!

(Originale) Lovely family meal I visited on a warm summer Sunday lunchtime and enjoyed some nice food and drinks. I had the gnocchi with axed chicken and chorizo. The portion was huge and everything was cooked well. The sauce was really tasty. I also had pork belly bites as a side but they were very chewy. I'd suggest they should be chopped into pieces after being cooked rather than cooked on small pieces to avoid that. My Dad liked the burger and my Mum loved her salmon. Again, very generous portions. My sister had sea bass and her girlfriend the prawn linguine. We all cleared our plates so that shows how good the food was. The bar had a fantastic array of drinks available, however they were a little overpriced. The service was great from all staff members which added nicely to our experience.
