I’ve been coming to the Kite for 2 years now and I have proudly stated that this is my favourite restaurant due to my gluten free and vegetarian dietary needs. I have always been able to access their allergen menu online and had an allergen menu within the restaurant but as of today, both those items are no longer available which is very disappointing. Normally I would have the delicious vegetarian burger (GF) and any of the wonderful GF starter creations / breads the chef normally has available. Today, I was told the burger had been taken off the menu and the server (who was lovely) had to list every item that could be GF free which was hard for me to remember and I felt awkward for her reciting it! I ordered the pumpkin gnocchi which was slightly above warm and did not have the consistency of gnocchi and a side of fries (one was made non GF which was kindly rectified). I also noticed the menu has been reduced significantly which was a shame as I did not have many options. Sadly, I don’t think I will be returning as I cannot see what items are GF on their online menu as it is over an hours drive for us to come dine and I like to know what I can eat before going somewhere. The food was ok, one of our group had steak which was very chewy but the rest of us had various items from the menu and found these to be ok but the service was a little bit non-existant we were sitting a while before we had to flag someone down and then this becomes the theme for the afternoon which was annoying considering the venue was not packed by far. As it was £30+ quid ahead I would have expected the venue to be attentive asking about food, drinks etc but this seemed to be not the case. The glasses given to us for our prosecco needed to be cleaned as they were misty and some had debris still present. The venue itself is lovely and well laid out, it was comfortable with the heating and lightening and was not overly noisy. I would be tempted to try this again as the bottomless brunch for us turning 40 was a greate group activity however I'd hope the service would improve.

I am just shocked that food was allowed to leave the kitchen in the state we got it. Firstly ordered the veggie meatballs with melted cheese and it was literally a undercooked vegeterian burger patty cut into four pieces with a slice of unmelted American cheese slapped on top, I couldn’t actually believe they had passed this off as meatballs. When I complained the lovely chap at the bar immediately took it away and said he would remove it from the bill. I then had the mushroom and ale pie Sunday roast which has the most thick, lumpy, old looking gravy I have ever seen, it wouldn’t physically pour and was stuck inside the small bowl it came in and tasted so weird, again I flagged this and they brought over a slightly less thick lumpy gravy. The vegetables were clearly frozen and undercooked with no seasoning & the portion was crazy bad, one piece of brocolli, one piece of cauliflower, 3 tiny rock hard roast potato’s, a bit of stuffing & a very stale pie…we arrived at 4.30 and were told kitchen was closed until 5.30 so by the time we got our food around 6.30 we were starving and reluctantly ate what we could as kids were tired and it was too late to go elsewhere. My sons meal was really poor so I didn’t let him eat it as he is only 2 and I was worried about the bad quality making him unwell. The staff were very lovely and gave us money off the bill so ended up paying around £20 but to be honest even that was too much considering how bad the meal was & I regret eating any of it as I feel super nauseous now and just don’t understand how such a simple meal could go that wrong in a professional kitchen. I have attached a photo of my main meal for reference but unfortunately didn’t get a picture of my starter before it was taken away. Staff are lovely and were very apologetic which we appreciated but food was extremely poor and one of the worst I have had so not sure if it was an off day but in circumstances like that I wouldn’t serve that food to paying customers at all.

I paid but pointed out the labelling was incorrect on the shelf. The person serving laughed at me and told me I get what I pay for and didn’t seem interested in changing the label to the correct price. He made me feel ridiculed for being bothered about price and considerate of budget. I pointed out that no other store would knowingly label incorrectly and would at least apologise, but he didn’t speak and just laughed at me. He did eventually peel off the incorrect display label but had already told me they were all wrong and badly displayed and he didn’t bother changing any others. All in all a negative experience for me personally.

Not much up to date dance tunes , it's nice to have some old skool flavas mixed in but I just found it not to be very up to date . Loved the layout and the booths and especially the service button which meant drinks orders were taken from your table and delivered quickly.
