This is disgusting and unhygienic place I have ever been. Painfully itch that I had to wake up and look around my bed and wall. I found so many of bedbug and others too. There are so many small gaps that allows losing cool air from AC and it never get cool enough you feel relaxed and besides mosquitos get into room a lot too. I am writing this review as I work up at 3 am. I hope this review help out you to make right decision. I can stand and understand that there are 3 bunk beds and one single bed in such small room. No towel provided, no basic amenity in toilet, no fridge in common area, no person to do check in at day time, water pressure is extremely low. To be honest, this could be all ok as budget stay. It sucks it could not bother you so much. But safety and hygiene is non-negotiable matter. I have more than 10-12 bug bite wounds in a few hours of sleep and get super itch that wonder myself. It swells bigger and hurt more than mosquito bite. It is true - central or connivance location for traveler and cheaper price. But it shouldn’t be this dirty and run the business inhumane way. I was placed at ROOM 2 which the room is facing the road. I could not have a good mind in the room with car noise. I saw many ladies shoes at the stairs, which means they intentionally use that room for male. This is gender inequality and a guy sleep at the most inner bed and I have no choice but to sleep at the bed with the most car noise. The door is broken with a slit and light can pass through it and I could clearly hear what the people outside are talking. One of the toilet door is not lockable. The electric socket is sealed at my side and they seem not care enough to get it repaired. The discounted price is not worth it at all, no towel no shampoo. The locker key is easily to be duplicated and there is no key for the door. Do think twice before booking the room, especially for a guy. I would rather pay more to have a better rest than this. It’s spacious, clean and quite new. Staff/volunteers are friendly and helpful and beds are super comfy. Showers are hot and there’s plenty of them! The location in old town is handy and close to the train station. They provide you with a lamp for the bed when you check in. There were a few things I didn’t like, but I would stay here again if I come back to Ipoh, however I might be more inclined to stay in new town just because in old town everything was always closed and it was quite dull. For things I didn’t like: You had to pay for tea/coffee, nearly every hostel I’ve stayed in have these as complimentary. It’s not about cost it’s very cheap, but yeah just that generally places don’t charge for it. The road noise in the dorms is really bad, you can hear everything and it kept me awake until about 2.30pm a couple of nights. There are NO lockers despite saying lockers available on Hostelworld. When I checked in I asked about it, the lady said it’s ok because you are the only people in the room. I said what if more people check in and she said I’ll put them in a different room. Obviously more people checked into our room and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my stuff around without security lockers. Under the bed is so high it would be a perfect fit for pull out storage lockers. On our last day Sunday night to Monday morning there was no toilet paper in female dorm and reception closes at night so no one to ask. Lastly, the curtains on the bottom bunk are on the outside of the bed, so anyone coming up the ladder to sleep on the top would have to open my curtain to get into bed.
