Good standard american chinese food with a great lunch menu. Also happens to have the best sushi in Amherst. The staff are super nice and while rare, if there's a mistake with my takeout order they're quick to fix it. The only reasons why it's not 5 stars is that the food can sometimes be inconsistent and the hot&sour soup feels like it's overloaded on corn starch.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, the variety of dishes from all over east Asia gives it many options. The sushi excellent albeit a little flavorless. The ma-po tofu is so favorful and delicious, it does have a little too much to eat along with the appetizers and sides. The miso soup is the best I've ever had, I come here about 1-2 times a year. This is clearly a declining Chinese restaurant.
The décor looks like it hasn’t been updated in at least 20 years—very much the style of an old-school Chinese restaurant. The tables and floors felt a bit sticky, and there was a faint but persistent smell of old grease lingering in the air.

The servers appeared to speak with a Taiwanese accent, and once they heard my mainland Chinese accent, their attitude noticeably shifted toward being cold and condescending. (I’ve written many reviews before, but this is the first time I’ve felt the need to mention this kind of issue.)
We went at lunchtime, and the restaurant wasn’t busy. Still, we had to wait an unusually long time to place our order, and then again to get our food. One dish was even brought to the wrong table.

Then she gave me two pancakes. The menu clearly said four, so I asked, “Should there be two more?” Her cold reply: “We’re heating them for you.” Really? You have to heat four pancakes in two rounds?

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at Formosa Chinese Restaurant in Amherst, MA. While dining in, I found a plastic zip tie inside the soup (Lion’s Head hot pot). Some of the best Chinese food! We ordered online for pickup for a group of 5. It was ready within 20 minutes. Everything came hot and really good quantities for the price. Went here for my birthday and had a terrific experience. I wrote in advance to request their whole Sichuan Smoked Tea Roast Duck, and this was a unique and delectable dining experience. Started off with the beef stuffed scallion pancake wrap, and also had the side of Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. Fresh ingredients cooked with love and attention. They had Mondavi wine and a mango and lychee beer which were a delight to drink.
I had been looking forward to this dinner for over four months, and they delivered. Consistent water refills, spacious restaurant with plenty of seats, and they did get busy around 7 pm on a Wednesday night. This is a great venue for a sit down meal for a special treat.

As an Asian American, I love spicy food and this Mapo dofu （麻婆豆腐） at Formosa has the flavours and spice levels that always satisfy my cravings!
Love the spices and ratio of tofu to sauce, not too oily. Plus free bowl of rice and can ask for no meat added. Dumplings are great too. Not a fried food fan so no comment on any of the deep fried food (crab Rangoon, chicken fingers, egg roll, fortune cookie, etc.).
Highly recommend this restaurant as it offers both westernised Chinese food and more traditional offerings (finally!)

The staff are quite friendly, restaurant is kept tidy and has decent table sizes for multiple parties.
For dishes, I typically got the chow foon, which is pretty good. Kind of oily, but thats expected with how the dish is prepared. I also tried the fried squid, but it wasn't to my liking. They also have lunch combos, which comes with a soup and a smaller plate of a dish they offer on the menu. Taste is pretty similar to Chinese restaurants you'd find in Boston.

I’ve been looking for a restaurant to n Western Mass that serves soup dumplings and we found that and much more here! My wife just brought us here for my birthday lunch and it was amazing. Soup dumplings, scallion cakes, house chow fun and veggie rice with coconut cakes for dessert.

Absolutely delicious! We had the Special The Dancing Lobster and this dish alone was mouthwatering. The ginger is cut perfectly so you can enjoy a piece with each bite of lobster. We also had the General Chicken tso it was absolutely delicious, each bite crunchy and bursting with flavor. For sides we ordered House fried rice. I've been here twice on two different trips to Amherst! Every dish was a delightful journey into the vibrant and complex flavors of Thai cuisine.
Starting with the pumpkin curry, it was a rich and aromatic dish with the sweetness of the pumpkin complementing the warm Thai spices. A very comforting dish! I couldn't resist trying the Pad Thai, a classic Thai noodle dish, which did not disappoint! The Siam rolls, we're one of the crispiest things I've ever had! The contrast between the crunchy exterior and the tender, flavorful interior likely makes them irresistible appetizers. I regret eating them all in one sitting but I knew they would be good in a hotel microwave.
The chicken coconut soup, made with a creamy coconut milk base, kaffir lime, tender chicken, mushrooms, and other herbs and spices infused the broth with layers of complex flavors, creating a comforting and aromatic soup that warms the soul. Lastly, the Thai-style basil chicken pan-fried dish was flavorful with tender chicken, aromatic Thai basil, bell peppers, onions, and chilies. This is also a staple of mine when visiting a Thai restaurant and I loved this one!

Unfortunately, nothing convinced. The seaweed salad was $6 and the portion was a joke, like a big spoon of seaweed salad and that was it. The soup had tender meat, delicious broth and hand pulled homemade noodles (I still regret not ordering another to go to bring home). I wasn't sure what to expect when a friend took me to Honeycrisp Chicken in/near Amherst Center. Overall, I was genuinely impressed.
The place is a little small with just one table and two different bar/counter seating areas. It is a order and pay at the counter type of place.
I was pleasantly surprised that their fried chicken was safe for me to eat (I'm allergic to dairy) as there was no dairy in it at all. My friend and I were disappointed by the numerous menu items they were out of that night.
We both though really enjoyed our food. I got the red friend chicken (pictured) and she got the popcorn chicken. My fried was extremely crisp and moist and the sauce was both sweet and spicy at the same time. The popcorn chicken was also good, though a little dry, so my friend got a side of sauce to dip it in.
I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and I hope they learn to better manage their inventory.

Don't miss out on Honeycrisp Chicken!! I LOVE their Red and Cider Honey Mustard Korean fried chicken! In general, their offerings are delicious and perfect for lunch or dinner. Joe (the owner) puts a ton of genuine effort into making sure your experience is great. We have been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'd heard nothing but positive things, so my girlfriend and I made it down down to try it. I have to say...it's probably the best tasting and crunchiest fried chicken that I'd ever had. It was amazing, savory, and generally tasty all at the same time.
The popcorn chicken far surpasses any popcorn chicken I've ever had and had a salty, slightly spicy, slightly sweet flavor. It's almost undescribable.

Just tried this place for lunch and WOW was it good. I got the red and black wings. They were are perfectly fried with a really crisp shell and juicy chicken. I ordered the chasu don and the pork was so tender and juicy and the rice hot and fluffy. We also ordered the sweet potato fries with truffle parmesan and I don't think I've had better sweet poatoe fries before- they're so delicious! So good in fact, we came back the next day (today), and ordered those again, their regular fries with cajun seasoning, and then the honey lime chicken as well as the onsen buta, and nothing disappointed. The panko crusting on the meat is so crispy and light and the sauces add a perfect balance of flavor.
Everything is so good! And, again, the employees were so welcoming! And, another plus, the prices are great!! I can't wait to try the rest of their menu!
