I have been attending now for 7 months. This is a place to connect both with God and other loving believers. There is a significant interest in serving the community and supporting local humanitarian agencies as well as hearing from & supporting many different missionaries worldwide. The staff is personable and interested in the lives of “new folks,” not a clique of the in-crowd as is too often the case with larger churches. The worship is vibrant, energetic, and engaging. The teaching is Bible-centered. The children’s ministry is meaningful. The youth/student ministries are more than babysitting, there is an opportunity for real discipleship and growth. And probably most important it really feels like a loving, supportive environment. When Jesus said, “They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another,” He was taking about people like this.

Last August, a Meadowbrook volunteer showed up to the church as directed. The volunteer, in a room gathering their supplies to start working, noticed a pastor (of the opposite sex/gender) enter the doorway behind them. The pastor spoke to the volunteer in a way that made them uncomfortable. Despite numerous requests by the volunteer for the pastor to move from the doorway so they could leave, the pastor refused and allowed the volunteer to exit the space only after conceding to their (the pastor's) wishes.
This matter was brought first to leadership and then to the District Council by the volunteer. Rather than addressing these allegations, the Deacon Council chose to ban this volunteer from the church forever without ever speaking with them. They only listened to the pastor’s side of the story.

When I was little my babysitter would take me here all the time and I would have a blast! She would give me fruit snacks and some food to eat and I always looked forward going there. Though sadly my babysitter died a few years ago from cancer and I will never forget the amazing memories I had there with her. I hope to visit soon to bring back memories even though I’m 12.

Stepped foot in this church in March of 2018 after a poor experience at my former church. I recieved nothing but warm welcomes and a lot of love since! The worship and sermon are very powerful and uplifting, and easy to follow. Despite the large size of this/my church, they do an excellent job of making you feel welcome! I now play drums for FCC, and it has been tons of fun, and really spiritually rewarding. The Champaign and Urbana locations are both incredible, and I am glad to call FCC my home, and family.

I really enjoy attending here. Back in 2014, I went with a group on a missions trip and it really opened my eyes. The music is attractive to my age group (18 to 40yrs). I'm sure any age would like it but it's difficult attracting my age group into church. I recommend this church because they do a really great job giving the message of God in modern times.

Sadly it was 6 years ago when I was 7 I moved but I still remember my 1st bible being received there. The church was so big that the lobby could easily fit a bouncy house. They have helped me a lot when I had leukemia and during my recovery, they even mailed me a Christmas card with a Target gift card which I used for groceries. The weekday morning Mass has a respectably-sized attendance and it was good to see parishioners of all ages present.
The Mass follows many of the "old traditions" and most striking is the use of the Communion rail - very refreshing to see again in action! I also thought including the "St. Michael the Archangel" prayer at the end of the petitions was a nice touch, as well as several devotional prayers led by the priest after Mass.
The statues of the Holy Family are quite striking and beautiful! Nearly all the devotional candles were lit, so that, to me, is always a good indicator of the faith of the community.

I had not been back to the Church in a while but decided to visit here. It was very lovely, very friendly parishioners too! I have a physical disability plus I didn't want to receive communion yet because I had not been to confession yet.

We visit this parish whenever we attend the Audiofeed Music Festival in the summer. I love that they use patens and that you can receive Holy Communion at the rail from a priest. They have a generally reverent Novus Ordo liturgy and the priest seems to be orthodox in his preaching. Definitely worth a visit. Also their adoration chapel is beautiful.

We were looking for a new church to attend and one that is not compromising to world around us. Went to New Horizons church for the first time. Nice church and nice group of people. As a new comer I was not approached in anyway at all, which was a surprise. Came early enough that we wanted to check out their other ministries but did not see any welcome area for information. Shame. Worship started off well but was disappointed that one of the songs was a secular song which in my opinion does not have any place in a worship portion, especially Tom Petty songs. The song itself had nothing to do with God and Church. ‘I won’t back down’. Not sure if anyone researched the meaning of the song by the author. Pastor made more a deal out of the Tom Petty song then praising any of the other songs played. The preaching was okay but not provoking. Hoped for better.

I connected with Nick and Hannah serendipitously at the Urbana farmers market. I've never been a fan of organized religion but something drew me in to them. Anchor has proven to be a community where I feel safe to express my questions, concerns, or even challenges to Christianity. I feel heard and accepted despite not being a traditional believer. The church has never pressured me to convert but has welcomed me with love and made me feel at home. It's a rare thing for someone with my perspective to find.

Coming to college at a university for the first time, one of the most important things for me was to find a healthy home church while I attend school. The moment I stepped into new city, there was just something different about it than any other church I had been to. The people were so nice, and I immediately felt a sense of belonging here. Even while the church is still growing, New City has been the healthiest church I’ve attended and pivotal in my relationship with Jesus. Sermons are preached directly from the text, and the worship is phenomenal (I am now a biased member of the worship team though 😆). We are new to the champaign-urbana area and were looking for a church. I found new city on Google and we gave it a try. We are so glad we did. Such a welcoming community right when we walked through the door. The pastor was right there to greet us, I had never had a pastor personally greet us at the door before which immediately felt like I was welcome and cared for. I had spent my whole life in the same church. When I moved to Champaign, I was very worried about how I would find another church as healthy as the one I had attended for 30 years. Thankfully, Google Maps showed me New City, which was right near my house. On our first visit, all my worry and anxiety were transformed into relief and joy.

Sunday morning bible teaching is solid, accessible to nonchurched people, while still digging into the meaning of the scripture. Pastor Nick is friendly, warm, and sincere. Worship music is vibrant with several instruments and different leaders in different weeks. There are a lot of white people, but it's more diverse than most churches I've been to. Small groups (which have the cheesy name 'villages') are really good. We got to know people in our group better in one week than we had people in another church after 2 years. I LOVE New City!

Not only did this place help me discern my calling into ministry as a student but also created the space for me to experience the Gospel more richly than I ever had up to that point when I started attending in 2022.
