The bed was very comfortable and we slept well, even being by the main road. Turn on the radiator under the window if you get cold. Saying that the room/toilet was very clean, spotless in fact. The breakfast was good, everything you could possibly want in continental and/or cooked breakfast, although if you have mushroom and tomato asked for them to be well cooked as mine were almost raw. The man was very accommodating with anything you asked him for. I would recommend this place for a short stay. Good location with parking. The two outer doors are extremley heavy and have to be pushed really hard to get in. There is a pub 4 mins walk away for an evening meal, called 'The Old Tramway' the food is passable. It is at least 20 min walk into town, if you need to drive into town, we recommend driving to the Windsor Shopping Car Park which is just at the top of Henley Street. No faults whatsoever and with soft drinks reasonably priced as was the food at appx £16 per head. The steak,onion and cheese sandwich was very nice but my only criticism here I wasn't asked how I would like the steak cooked however it was still slightly pink(i would have preferred rare) but the steak its self was a good cut with no fat or gristle, the onions had been softened but not browned so were lacking abit of the sweetness. Drinks were good and again reasonable priced we had a large white wine, a soft drink and a pint of cask ale which had been well kept. Obviously refurbished to a good standard, it just lacks any warmth or character. Reception needs to feel inviting and welcoming, it looks a bit cheap, the bar and other areas somewhere you'd want to have a drink and relax are sterile, and the eating areas you'd like to be cosy and furnished well. It wouldn't take much to change this but desperately needs some personality added. Breakfast should have local produce sausages not half cooked Richmonds and tinned mushroom. Just small touches that make a difference. The dinner was OK. They installed a bar on the grounds which is more for local tradesmen and workers on their way home than guests, I appreciated it's income but guests should have facilities that build on their hotel experience, the bar was like a badly put together sports bar. Focus on the hotel experience for guests and this hotel could be so much better. The rooms are really nice so no complaints, they were lovely, but If I'm eating in the hotel I'd expect to have a lobby or bar that feels like a nice place for a drink. It’s definitely more Setup to be rented out as a whole house. Room was not as advertised. Heating was not on and there was limited bedding so it was freezing cold. Was also overcharged and had to chase them up for change. There were no tea or coffee making facilities. Bedding was far from great and towels were far from fluffy. Also no toiletries.
