My stroll led me directly to the vibrant food area around Constitution Dock, where a variety of food boats offered everything from classic fish and chips to fried chicken, burgers, and even gelato. With so many delicious options, I decided on a late lunch at Flippers. The friendly blokes working there recommended the Trevalla with Chips, and it was an absolute winner! They even offered a choice of seasoned salt, chicken salt, or salt and vinegar for extra flavour, a nice touch. It's a must-try while you're in Tasmania, as Trevalla or Flathead are the local stars, unlike the more common Barramundi, Flake, or Grenadier often served in Sydney and Melbourne. I enjoyed my meal right by the docks, where there's plenty of seating, and, of course, the ever-present seagulls hoping for a crumb!

When I first checked, the young blonde girl insisted that was correct😅 Only after I took the review photo to question her again did they replace it with the proper combo — which was already cooked sitting there!! It was at the point of our trip where we needed asian food and we needed it fast! Hobart is kinda tricky as many places were closed early in the week but we found it! A humble Malaysian restaurant. Honestly nothing humble about it, the flavours were explosive! We got the char kway teow, tom yum soup, roti and chicken legs (we were hungry from a big hike!). Price was excellent and food was both delicious and satisfying.

Had the scallop pie here and it was absolutely delicious – rich, fresh and perfectly baked. The coffee was also excellent and paired so well with it.
The staff were really thoughtful and kind, even helping us cut the pie into two since we were sharing. Such a nice touch that made the experience even better.

We from Melbourne, this is my third time visiting, gave 5 stars last two times, sadly I can only give them 4 stars for the pies and coffee this time. We have 4 pies and 4 coffee today. The lamb pie is the best I ever tasted, lot of meat inside. The pepper Wagyu pie doesn't have much meat, too much gravy vs meat make it too salty and over favour. And the two scallop pies are not what I expected, dry inside, not much curry taste, each pie did have 3 small scallops. May be is my unlucky day, one scallop pie had few piece of shell inside, but they did waive the cost of that one. Coffee are average if you compare to Melbourne standard. Service is very good and fast.

The location is literally out of this world, it's like you have been transported to another moment in time. I enjoyed the beef and red wine pie, my wife had the goats cheese, caramelised onion, sundried tomatoes and spinach Danish. We also indulged in the custard tart. As soon as I walked in with my partner and I knew something was terribly wrong. Despite us having a bad feeling, we ordered a dozen oysters. The oysters were very disappointing and not fresh tasting, this is bizarre and completely unexpected for a restaurant that is situated right on the dock. Despite this, we ordered the fishermans basket for one to share and this was just as bad. The Mures marinade tastes very weird, like a strange chicken taste, we couldnt even finish one of these because we were scared it was off. The rest of the basket was completely bland and unappealing, even local fish and chip shops in the suburbs are far better tasting in every aspect.
In all this was a huge waste of money for some of the most disappointing, weird and bland tasting fish and chips me and my partner have ever had in our lives. We cannot understand how this place has such good reviews.

We were on a search for the best croissants in Hobart and I think we have a top contender! Daci & Daci are up there and they also have the best coffee I’ve had so far during my visit. There is an indoor section and an outdoor platform for dining. You can also take away. The selection of other baked goods is amazing. Have walked passed so many times but never at the right times. So last weekend I planned it better and went here for breakfast. Very cute interior and the staff is super friendly and efficient. The coffee is good and I loved the menu with all dishes including local ingredients..so hard to choose. I went with the mushroom baked eggs and it waa divine. The cakes and pastries looked great too and I could have sat there all day eating my way through it all..but that will be for another day as I will definitely come back.

What a powerhouse of a cafe. This was a pleasant surprise today. Filled with vibes as it was literally filled with customers when I got her in a Tuesday at around 1pm. Seemed to have a mix of locals and tourists and the meals are excellent. I had mushrooms on toast and realised afterwards that I could downsize to a smaller size which I’ll most likely do in future as the meals are super large which is great if your coming with a huge appetite. However as I’m not a massive eater I look forward to slightly smaller portion so will definitely be back. Only downside is there were not any PowerPoints for my laptop as this was a recommendation from Gemini for somewhere to work on my laptop. So more of a come eat then go somewhere else. A somewhat quirky cafe tucked away in the corner of Salamanca Square. A favourite among locals, the cafe is in high demand and is often packed with diners. There is a seating area outside next to a large outdoor chess game. They make great coffee and our goto morning meal is the fruit toast. Started with soup of the day (on that day was green pea an and something) with sour dough. It was absolutely delicious. Can tell the beans are very fresh.
Coffee is great, too. Beans are from Villino.
Then tried their toasted wrap with scrambled egg and bacon, hands off. I normally hate pickle but that little touch of pickle on the plate really made sense.
And I heard some ‘funny’ stories abt their names with ‘hole and whole’ it was quite funny, too.

Having constantly seen advertising on the rear end of Metro buses I thought it waz finally time to give in.
It wasn't very busy when I got there so there was no waiting to be seated. The place looked cleaned and neat and the staff were friendly enough.
I decided I try the Beef Noodle Soup (the advertising worked as that was the main picture...plus it was cold outside and the dish looked warm and inviting). I did have my heart on a their egg custard dumplings but was informed that they didn't have any so I settled for a couple of pork minced dumplings instead. To wash it all down I ordered the raspberry watermelon sprtiz (going through a phase it seems). It all came to about $35.
Waiting time for the food was reasonable and the food was delicious. If you plan to go during busier times I'd advise booking ahead as there's only so much seating so you could be standing outside for a table to free up.

Came here during my Hobart trip after a friend’s recommendation. Tried the pork dumplings and pork fried rice, both were absolutely delicious!!!! I got takeaway, and the service was quick and the staff were really kind. The dumplings were perfectly crispy and full of flavour. Highly recommend!

I ordered takeaway and was told it would be ready in 15–20 minutes. I waited outside even if it’s freezing cold, to give space to dine-in customers since the restaurant is quite small. After 20 minutes I went back in, expecting to be handed my order, but found out it had been sitting there for some time without anyone informing me.
The staff didn’t seem attentive, and my food had already gone cold. It was quite disappointing, especially when good service only takes a little care and courtesy. I don’t expect this review will matter much to them, but I believe every action, good or bad, has a way of coming back in time.

A true taste of Singapore in Hobart! After more than two weeks touring around Australia, we were so happy to discover Kopitiam Singapore Cafe. The food was absolutely spot on – flavourful, authentic, and cooked with care.
We tried the Nasi Lemak, Hor Fun, Fried Kuay Teow, and Fried Hokkien Mee – all were delicious and reminded us of home. The sambal chilli in the Nasi Lemak was especially rich and fragrant, and we loved that they don’t use any MSG.
It was so satisfying that the four of us ended up ordering an extra bowl of Laksa to complete the experience! Definitely a must-visit for anyone craving real Singaporean flavours in Tasmania.

Never expect i am able to eat such delicious Asian dishes in Hobart, during our 2 days stay in Hobart city, we tried their Hainanese Chicken Rice, Seafood Tomyam and rice, Nasi Lemak Sambal Ayam, Sambal Fried Bee Hoon, Fried Keow Teow, all the taste just like we ate the foods in Singapore and Malaysia 😋😋.

First visit yesterday. Unfortunately food didn't quite meet our expectations. Servings (char kueh teow and singapore chow fun) were small with very limited and cheaper ingredients. I guess the prices were cheaper than other similar restaurants but not good if ingredients were "watered down" and dishes not satisfying. We left somewhat disappointed.

I went to to restaurant because of the reviews and really wanted a good wonton soup. First impressions not good, really old worn table & chairs, no one in site, then someone popped up behind an elevated platform/plastic screen. They took my order & held up the eft machine from behind the plastic screen/shield to pay. After my order was taken I hear a microwave turn on & running water, not something you want to hear and sadly the soup lived up to that, flour tasting tasteless wontons, soup & cheap instant noodles $19. This restaurant was not what I expected from the reviews online…

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Hobart - and it came highly recommended. All dishes are homemade and vegetarian. We appreciated that there was a lot of protein in the form of tofu, seitan, etc. Hearty, really good tasting, inexpensive, homemade vegetarian Thai food - you can't ask for more! They have bbq mock duck dish that doesnt include onion and garlic that is my favourite for $12.80 medium size with noodles (with generous serving of tasty mock meats). The wraps and spring rolls are delicious too. Service is quick. Just arrive well before closing at 330pm, otherwise there might not be much food left.

Found this random banh mi shop in Hobart which seemed to be popular with the locals. Tried it out and it came out to be one of the best banh mi I’ve had in Australia. The crispy pork was so good and their pate was amazing. It was so good that I had to get another round of this on another day instead of trying out other restaurants in Hobart as a tourist. This is a highly recommended place if you’re a banh mi fan.

We have now visited here on numerous occasions and have been met with the same wonderful quality food which deserves a 5 star review. Tried and recommend the Crispy roast pork banh mi, Lemongrass beef banh mi and the BBQ Pork Char Siu banh mi. The roll is fresh, nice crunch without being too hard to eat and the fillings are so tasty. Great portion sizes. Especially with the soup selections. The beef brisket pho is a must try along with the special pho and the mixed meat Bun bo hue. All very tasty with a lovely gloss to the broth. Very wholesome. Seating can be tight and it can get busy BUT the food is truly delicious. It’s worth a stop in.

Wasn't sure of what to expect here but I was so glad to have tried them. Probably some of the best south east asian I've eaten in a long time.
The place was very busy so if you're going during dinner time then it would be wise to book ahead. Great atmosphere with all the hustle and bustle and the smell if different dishes was divine.
I started off with the vegetable spring rolls (3pcs) which were great on their own but even better with the dipping sauce provided. Shared a plate of pineapple cashew fried rice (veg option) and had the Thai style cashew (chicken option) as my main. To wash it all down I decided to try their non-alcoholic green apple lemon plum juice. All the food was fantastic and so flavourful that I felt like second helpings....even though I was quite and thoroughly full. The drink was also delicious and all this came to about $44 which was well worth it considering the amount you get and the high quality of food.
Although the staff seemed to be rushed off their feet they were still very courteous and friendly. The place looked and felt very clean and has a certain vibe about it. Is definitely on my short list for another visit.

So happy to find this little restaurant in North Hobart. On a chilly autumn evening a group of us headed to Bite Me for a meal. It was a fairly busy night with several tables already seated. The service was a little slow as they were busy but the staff were very friendly. After ordering our meals, the food arrived hot and fresh. What a delicious meal it turned out to be. Having travelled through Asia extensively & enjoying great food, I was delighted with the Signature Chicken Curry. A serving of jasmine rice & a small spring onion pancake complimented my main meal. Other dishes ordered by the group included a stir fry chicken & cashews, Thai Green Curry, Thai fish cakes, & a seafood stir fry in a satay sauce. Delicious 😋

We ordered the goat curry, the beef curry, and the eggplant dish with some naans. We really enjoyed the last two – the beef curry and the eggplant – both were full of flavour and beautifully cooked. The goat curry was a touch too oily for my taste and had a slightly stronger meat flavour.

We were excited to try the food but it was a big letdown. The Chowmein was too much saucy and bland. The momo was bland and got no taste and pakoras does not taste like pakora. Nothing felt fresh or well-prepared. Definitely not worth the visit.

I had a delicious chicken chow mein at Everest Eatery - I think the best I've had outside of Nepal (and I've eaten a lot!) It was quiet for dinner on a Sunday night but the dining area was nicely lit with tealight candles and cosy withh Nepalese music playing and a slideshow of Nepalese images showing on a TV screen.
I ordered the chicken chow mein for $16 which was great value. The portion size was large, there was a good ratio of chicken pieces. It was very tasty and the medium spicy level was perfect for me.
I was given a complimentary poppadom. Halfway through the meal the waitress came to check if I was happy with the meal (which I was!) But I really enjoyed chatting to her about Nepal and the places I had visited and learned she was from Kathmandu.
Wish I had an extra night in Hobart as I would have eaten here again.

This isn’t an usual fusion place, rather an interesting interpretation of Indian cuisine in a Nepalese fashion. We tried the place for lunch on a sunny day, and found the place to be empty. They have only couple of tables, and is comfortable enough.
We tried Veg Manchurian as an appetizer and Chow Mein, Veg fried rice, Dal Fry along with Plain rice for main course. The usage of ginger and herbs were obvious, which elevated the taste of the appetizer. Although the spice level we requested for was medium, it was a bit more than that. Turns out they reduce the amount of spice mix they use based on request. Fried rice and Chow mein were quite good as well. But the dish of the day for us the Dal Fry - hot and contempt.
The prices are reasonable, similar to other restaurants around and the staff are considerate and helpful. We’d try again if we are visiting Hobart.

Great gluten free options with lots of variety. Wasn’t a huge fan personally of their paleo bread but nice to have lots of choice. First time we tried to come to their all day menu when they close at 4 their kitchen was closed by 2:30 which was a bit disappointing. Otherwise not a bad option.

A nice visit if you’re in Hobart. Held on the last Friday of every month, the Twilight Markets are a great visit if you’re looking for delicious food options.
There are oysters, food trucks that sell burger, Thai, Korean, baos and more. Alcohol is also served. Think mulled cider, hot alcoholic beverages, similar to the winter markets overseas.
It’s a bit on the smaller side, but the oysters alone is worth visiting for. Free entry, parking around and there are seats and tables, if you are lucky enough to snag one.

Had to get a classic Margherita with some ranch on the side just so I had a solid foundation to get a feel for it, but it was great! Beautiful dough texture, lovely sauce, good amount of oil but still wasn’t sloppy - nice little spot tucked away from the rest of Hobart, well worth the stop-in. Great, fresh food (new store). Quick service (actually "fast" food) and the atmosphere is really nice too, the new store looks great. My partner and I rocked up to the store on opening day, it was packed with what must've been twenty people waiting for their food. We were behind those people in a waiting queue. We got our food in under five minutes as they processed everybody's orders in the most efficient and fast way I've ever seen in a fast food restaurant. Really, really impressed.

It looks like the issue is understaffing, so I don’t blame the crew working, they’re probably doing their best. But this is clearly a management problem. Please fix the scheduling and stop cutting corners to save on night wages. Waiting over an hour in a drive-thru is absolutely unacceptable.
Update: my order was taken at 1:30 after 25mins waiting and further 27minutes for the food to arrive.

I had a very poor experience at McDonald’s Moonah on Sunday, 20th of July 2025, during the evening shift. The staff on duty displayed a clear lack of professionalism and concern for customers. Despite repeated attempts to get their attention, they appeared more interested in joking around than providing proper service. I waited for over 25 minutes for my order, and no explanation or apology was given for the delay.
Even more concerning was the behaviour of the shift manager, who seemed completely indifferent to the situation and made no effort to manage the team or address customer concerns.

If you want slow service make sure to stop in here. If you want to sit and eat and be surrounded by staff socialising and gossiping come here. The restaurant was quite full and staff were still talking and swearing as if they were the only ones here. Coffee took forever to be made, coming when we were half way though our breakfast.

Wow! Some of the cheapest fish and chips ever. I was a little worried with some items pre cooked and waiting to be served, but everything was hot enough and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the fish bites and their homemade chicken tenders. I grabbed one of their sauces, an Atlantis. I’d possibly not do that again, not for $5 a tub. I like to stay away from the larger chains when it comes to fast food so it's nice to send a shout-out to one of the local smaller chains. I've used these guys over the years and have always enjoyed the food. I feel they have some of the best hit chips in the business, tastiest chicken and yummiest gravy.
But on this occasion I'm reviewing their Honey Mustard Chicken burger deal which came with regular chips and a can of soda. The burger was made fresh and the sauce very tasty, the hot chips were more than enough and their regular size is comparable with a large of any of the larger chains so much better value. With the can of soda thrown in the total came in to around $16 which is excellent value. I did uplarge on another occasion and I struggled to finish the meal (and it still came in under $20). I'd be lucky to feel that full for the same price with the larger chains.
The staff were friendly and were very efficient at sorting my order while taken care of other customers.
Try them if you haven't already.

I visited this takeaway on a very warm day at around 6.00pm the other day and found the poor staff sweltering in their workplace. There isn't an air conditioner in there and it was stifling. It was much hotter inside the shop than outside and sweat was trickling down their faces. If you don't care about your staff, the least you can do is cool the place down for your customers. Very poor indeed. The staff were excellent under the circumstances.

Best snack pack i have EVER had ever in my life. Came here with my mate blake on a mish for some food, decided on a snack pack and my God was that the right choice. The chicken and lamb were tender and super flavourful, absolutely spot on. I've been to nearly all kebab places in tassie and I've had a snack pack from almost all of them. This. Beats. All. Andrew is an absolute legend and so is his what im assuming, partner. We had a wonderful experience at this place! The souvlaki was absolutely delicious, and the hospitality was even better. Last night we ordered two Italian Herb & Cheese footlongs with lettuce, capsicum, and onion. But when our order arrived, it was completely wrong — the subs were on plain white bread, missing all the vegetables, and the food was cold, like it had just been taken out of the fridge.

We had two of the burritos and they were actually really well made. Quite delicious. The ‘manager’ or the guy running the show was so patient, and so polite.
