Cathedral
Catholic church
Cathédrale Saint-Gatien is a Roman Catholic church located in Tours, dedicated to the city's first bishop, Saint Gatien. This iconic landmark boasts medieval stained glass and royal tombs, with parts of the cathedral dating back to the 12th century and featuring flamboyant Gothic style from the 15th century. Despite being hidden within the city, it is a must-visit tourist attraction with a rich history of being burnt down and rebuilt twice.
Went to Sunday mass in December and it was a lovely service. The stained glass windows were beautiful and I loved being able to walk around and look at the statues and paintings after mass. Gothic architecture at its finest!
Shawna B — Google review
This place was very special and of course worth visiting when in Tours. I learned from my friend (local and history enthusiastic) that the walking nave around the altarpiece was usual in cathedrals across pilgrimage routes. In that way the pilgrims visiting wouldn't disturb the priest or service as much.
Covadonga T — Google review
Very old and very peaceful. The stained glass windows are incredible as is all the paintings.
Alan R — Google review
If you appreciate Medieval architecture then you must visit Cathédrale Saint-Gatien when visiting Tours. It has a beautiful Flamboyant Gothic west portail and majestic interiors. It is a feast for the eyes!

Free entry and it would be one of my favourite old churches, great design, immense height and stunning workmanship.

A beautiful Cathedral in Tours and well worth a visit. Tours is a lovely town and easy to walk around. Would pay to leave the car at a parking lot by the river and walk in.

The Basilique Saint-Martin de Tours, a neo-Byzantine church, was built in the 19th and 20th centuries to honor Saint Martin, the revered bishop of Tours in the 4th century. Designed by architect Victor Laloux, it features unique architecture. The basilica houses the tomb of St. Martin of Tours in its crypt and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries.
This is a fantastic piece of architecture and the exterior doesn’t do justice to the inside. Inside the basilica is exquisite. The large domed roof frames the alter and is very humbling. Underneath the alter is the crypt which is another must visit with a very somber atmosphere. This is a must visit for any trip into Tours
Alex M — Google review
This is an important basilica built over the tomb of St. Martin, the patron saint of Tours. We passed by while in the city recently and found this to be an interesting church to visit. Interestingly, the basilica history seems to have begun in the 5th century. However, the present building that you see was only constructed between 1886 and 1924 replacing the earlier medieval building that was demolished during the French Revolution. It is Neo-Byzantine in architectural style which would have been different to the Gothic features of the earlier church. The exterior and facade that can be seen today is fine, the interior nice to view as well. It includes a latin cross layout, modest decor and a crypt where you can see the tomb of St. Martin.
Brad — Google review
Saint Martin’s tomb is in the crypt, which is a must see. Another key part of this church is the main altar. The wooden painted ceiling is also quite peculiar
Ludovica S — Google review
Greatness! This basilica is just immense and has the beautiful statue on top if the exterior dome. The true gem is in the crypt where Saint Martin is buried. Pilgrims used to be organized to pray in front of his remains
Globetrot M — Google review
An old and interesting church. You can visit a room below the main stage. In this room you can find the skull of the priest of this church. You don’t have to pay anything to visit this place.

City park
The Musée des Beaux-Arts Garden, also known as Jardin Francois Sicard, is a charming park located in the Palais des Archeveques. The garden features a historic cedar tree rumored to have been planted by Napoleon and an alcove housing a stuffed elephant with an intriguing backstory. With the museum at the forefront and a cathedral in the backdrop, this well-maintained garden offers a picturesque setting reminiscent of the beautiful gardens found in Loire chateaus.
On a summer day, this park with the museum in the front and cathedral in the background is just amazing. The garden is well maintained and flower arrangements reminding some of the Loire chateaus beautiful gardens. Inside the garden, you can also find a kiosk where you can buy something to eat and drink, a playground for kids to play and shadow from the trees to keep you cool in a hit summer day.
Damoc C — Google review
This is a small but nice garden within the grounds of Musée des Beaux-Arts in Tours. The garden is very nicely manicured and makes for a lovely short walk to enjoy its grounds. There is a kiosk and a few chairs under the foliage of mature trees if you fancy a beverage or rest within the garden grounds.

Museums
The Museum of Fine Arts, located in a former archbishop's palace near the cathedral, offers a vast collection of art including Flemish paintings, works by early Italian painters, and major pieces from the 20th century. The museum constantly renews itself with superb temporary exhibitions and unique initiatives like Karaoke conferences and Paintings for tasting. Visitors can also enjoy the pretty gardens surrounding the palace, which is home to a famous cedar tree planted by Napoleon.
I’ve been here every visit to Tours (au moins 10x) and it is magical every time. Summer is the best when they have a portable café in the gardens. The Belgian and Dutch art is fantastic and the local landscape paintings of Tours, Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire etc are my favorites - the next morning I feel like I’m in the paintings when I go jogging near the river
Josh A — Google review
A nice small museum that took me about an hour to walk through. There is almost nothing written in English in the museum, so it's good to carry Google Translate with you (just one staff member seemed to know English). Lots of artwork from the 1800s from known artists, and also a few impressionist (and neo) works. Also a bit of modern work that was pretty nice. It's in a really old house that is interesting, and some sculptures and clocks on display. Easily worth the ticket price, and after several days in Paris museums this was relaxing since very few people inside. As I said, have translation app with you!
Raman P — Google review
The best place for you to visit. It’s very interesting. It had three floors with art frames. There is a room dedicated to the history of Tours. You need pay 8 euros for visit the museum.
Emelli R — Google review

Beautiful building. Lots of history. Cafe in the grounds too with outdoor seating.

A good art museum with interesting (and some famous) works. A pity it has a common toillete when men, women, and children use the same lavatory area. Also, so of the employees (woman, white, seemed like manager or some kind of boss) is short tempered and completely in the wrong job of working with the public.

Vieux Tours, also known as Old Tours, is a charming area characterized by its cobblestone streets and medieval timber-framed buildings that house a mix of bistros and bars. The neighborhood is home to Cite de la Creation et du Numerique, which was once an industrial zone called Mame but has been transformed into a hub for creativity and technological innovation. This includes support for start-ups, research and development labs, technology incubators, and a fine arts school.
The historic city centre is combined with the new buildings. I actually like the contrast and how well maintained the old building are and how they kept the rustic style alive. It looks a bit bavarian but definitely also different. The centre is alive and there is a lot to see.

Old square in Tours with some touristy resteraunts. Pretty small square filled with resteraunt tables. Much nicer vibe down some of the old streets approaching the square and some historical sites, such as the old Executioners house which are worth hunting round for

Beautiful city, amazing old buildings. Love it. I will come again and spend more time.

Beautiful historic buildings, with streets lined with a great selection of bars and restaurants. Keep an eye out for ancient woodwork (in varying states of repair) on the ancient buildings. Lovely buzzing atmosphere, popular with Tour's large student crowd.

Specialty Museums
The Musee du Compagnonnage, also known as the Guild Museum, is situated in the cloisters of the 13th century abbey of Saint Julian in Tours. This municipal museum showcases a collection dedicated to the Compagnonnage, an apprenticeship and trade union system dating back to the Middle Ages.
This museum has so much talent on display. We loved this more than any Chateau or Gallery. It's not a big place, but it's easy to get to, and really interesting. We don't speak enough French to have understood all the information, however we were given a free guide in English. Also some of the text has English translations. Don't miss the "Joiner's alphabet" (I forgot to take a photo), or the amazing statues made from sugar.
Gill K — Google review
Well worth a visit, the museum is full of very interesting things that have been made, I could have stayed there all day, the workmanship is outstanding and the only thing I would have liked to see was an English translation, I would have loved to have learned more.
Fiona T — Google review
Good museum. Little in English. Introdctory talk in French and difficult to understand
Martin — Google review
An interesting insight into the history of the 'guilds', and precursors to trade unions. Also some fascinating examples of the items prepared for admission into said guilds, and the prized 'cane' acquired. Beware, dont follow Google Maps for the entrance, it is now from Rue Nationale, down the stairs in front of St Julian's, and to the left. (Stairs beside the small building on the corner of Rue Colbert, with the hairdresser). It is also only accessible by a steel staircase. Another display there, but only until Nov '22, is on the rebuild of Notre Dame (all in French).
Cathy E — Google review
A lovely little museum, full of hand crafted items from tradesmen guilds.

Gardens
Nestled in the heart of Tours, the Jardin botanique de Tours has been enchanting visitors since its establishment in 1843. Spanning five hectares, this botanical haven is a delightful blend of nature and education. The garden features a stunning array of around 2,000 plant species, including a majestic 150-year-old ginkgo tree and vibrant tropical greenhouses that transport you to exotic locales.
Beautiful, big garden in the city, with a section for animals like emus, turkeys and even wallabies and a goat you can pet. There are different bits with Japanese gardens and medicinal gardens, and lots of different trees such as the 150 year old ginkgo tree! There is even a playground and swings. The greenhouse has many species of plants. Overall, a fantastic park.
David L — Google review
The botanical garden was delightful, featuring a diverse array of plants. Additionally, there were some animals, which added to the overall experience.
Khang L — Google review
Lovely park and gardens with cute animals. They seem unbothered by people and dogs. I was able to take my dogs in which is kind of rare for a nice park with gardens. Free entrance and not many people in.
M S — Google review
Lovely, peaceful, well maintained, huge variety of plants, lovely seating areas Play area for children. Animals seemed a bit superfluous.
Louise E — Google review
Very nice gardens. Lots to look at and animals as well as plants. Plenty of shady seating if you want to bring a picnic. There are toilets and drinkable water from fountains. It is free.
Paula L — Google review
This place is calm and relaxed, you can see some turtles, chickens and goats. In the Garden we have a botanical garden house, with three distinct spaces, such as a tropical forest and a savannah. You don't have to pay to enter, it's a pleasant walk.
Emelli R — Google review
It's quite a nice place to bring tour kids or just to chill out from the merciless sun of July. There are plenty of animals, many are domesticated animals so it's totally fun for kids to play and learn with it. The space is big enough for walks, strolls, and spacing out. Even found a wedding couple celebrating their big day in the garden last weekend. The entrance is free and the toilet is quite decent. Really helpful.
Arni S — Google review
Me and my kid love this place. Quiet, pleasant, with educational values and with a playground. And with animals and mini zoo. Unfortunately, pets (e.g. turtles) are closed quite early and at 18 you will not see them again. Minus one star for short opening hours.

Château de Tours is an 11th-century castle with a rich history and various transformations over the centuries. Originally built by the Counts of Blois, it was later expanded by the counts of Anjou to host significant events like the wedding of Charles VII and Marie d'Anjou. The castle has also served as an aquarium at one point in its eventful life.
Fascinating restored building now used for exhibitions. Mant equally fascinating historic buildings in the area.
Ewan B — Google review
Mixed bag of exhibts over the 4 different floors of the Château. I could have given floors 1 and 2 miss but I found the exhibition on floor 3 to be fascinating. The real let down of the visit was on the 4th floor where I couldn't see the point of the collection, perhaps as I am not French. However, I am a movie buff and in that regard, I could see merit in the 4th floor as an historical artifact. I was amused by the 4th floor as much as anything else. Overall, a good way to spend an hour but hard to stretch that further. The Château itself was the highlight of the visit for me. The staff were friendly and helpful as I didn't speak French.
Michael N — Google review
I absolutely loved this town. Locals I chatted with seemed very friendly. Has a old town vibe still. Good food and drink places. Cool sights to see. North tours has a nice bridge to walk over. NOT AN UBER OR LYFT FRIENDLY city. Cabs suck and frequently didn't show up after requesting a ride with them. Used public transit and walked a lot, so prepare yourself for that if you plan on visiting.

I came here as a tourist, was mostly disappointed because I expected to see a Château but I did see a modern art expedition. Of note was a article with drawings from Carney’s Pariseins from 3 March 2001 when the Taliban blew up the giant Buddhist statues in the Bamiyan Valley.
Justin S — Google review
As a castle, it's small and has not any interest. There's also a kind of very small garden behind it, nice if you happen to walk by, not worth more than 30 seconds. As a museum and exhibition place, it's very good. Often exhibitions are free and interesting, the place is authentic and the wooden stairs are very nice. It's quite well located close to the city center and by the Loire river.

Hôtel de Ville de Tours, designed by the renowned architect Victor Laloux in the Beaux-Arts style, is a magnificent Renaissance Revival building located in the heart of Tours. It offers visitors a lovely place to enjoy the day with a coffee while admiring its impressive facade.
Exquisite architecture and stunning views!

Tours completely destroyed my opinion about the city by the absolute lack of parking space. I stayed 3 nights in the city. The hotel (Hilton brand) offered no parking. I had to cruise the city to find the spot. I noticed many other drivers doing the same. On each day I finally found free space far away from my hotel. Extreme case, on Friday evening I spent 30 minutes cruising (losing fuel and spoiling the atmosphere) and I found the space 1 km from my hotel. Incredible pity. Otherwise the city is so nice, but I will always remember my frustration.

Nestled along a serene river, the Prébendes d'Oé Garden is an exquisite 19th-century landscape garden that beautifully showcases nature's artistry. With its majestic redwood trees, charming statues, and vibrant seasonal flowers, this garden offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's an ideal spot for families to enjoy leisurely strolls or engage in playful activities like feeding ducks. The peaceful ambiance makes it perfect for jogging or simply unwinding with friends after lunch.
A peaceful, dog friendly garden with beautiful historic sequoia trees. Celebrated by the French Senegalese poet Senghor, who spent many a day here during his time in Tours, and host to weekly music and dance events in season, this park has much too recommend it. Bring your pétanque equipment!

Although it is a small garden, it is a very beautiful one. What a gem! Ok, it may only take you 15 to 30 minutes to walk around it. Yet, it is so well kept, with fresh flowers and great trees, that you will love it. A "point de beauté" of the city of Tours.

This park is astonishing. The many, mature, enormous trees create the feeling of a cozy canopy over the entire park. Includes species from around the world, including Giant Sequoias (native to California) and Bald Cypress (native to Southeast United States). Immaculately manicured and the landscape design create lots of spaces that feel private and lots of ponds with wildlife. Includes a small ice cream shop. We didn't want to leave.

Le prieuré Saint-Cosme, also known as the Ronsard Priory, is a historic monastery dating back to the 11th century located just a short walk from Tours. It was once home to the renowned French Renaissance poet Pierre de Ronsard and now offers tours of the priory and its gardens where he is buried. Despite being partially ruined, the well-maintained grounds provide a relaxing atmosphere with resting seats and hammock-seats for visitors to unwind.
Really amazing visit that took us by surprise. The location of this is quite far away from Tours center, but it is worth going out to as it is a short drive or cycle. The gardens were great to wonder around in, and the area is very well maintained. The information about the site is very good, and lots of interactive parts. Although the place is relatively small and you could go around in less than 1 hour, it is a perfect spot to just sit and chill out on one of their many chairs dotted around the gardens.
William F — Google review
We spent ages at this place. It has so much to look at and a lot of poetry to listen to. Really nicely done interactions as you go around the gardens, ruins and Ronsard’s house. A good exhibition to start with showing the history of the place. We didn’t have any food but we love the self service food in jars. Lots of lovely places outside to sit and eat your food. Good toilets and a good sized car park. Lots of deck chairs, hammocks and other seating if you want to sit and relax, read or have a go at writing some poetry. There was also an amazing exhibition of ‘poor books’ and work by local students based on the rose.

5 mn from Tours by car, home of the famous French Renaissance poet Pierre de Ronsard. Beautiful historic site with a peaceful contemplative atmosphere. Magnificent restored Renaissance manor, combined with contemporary artists-in-residence exhibits make it a lovely short day trip near Tours.

It’s not surprising that such a beautiful and serene locale nurtured the creativity of one of the world’s great poets. Friendly staff, beautiful exhibits, lovely grounds. A must in Tours.
Nathan P — Google review
Absolute an tip. Here you can relax and strole a bit around. Ok the monastery is ruined, but it is so nicely kept and arranged. The house of the poet is fully intact and can be visited. Only the highway disturb a bit, but we all drive cars😏. So the visit takes about 1-2 hours, but all over the place are resting seats and hammock-seats to relax a bit. So stressfull Tours can be, so relaxing this place is. Also roses can be bought as plants. Entrance price was 6€ and parking is free. Also easy flat paths can be managed by elderly people.

Guys, all those who visit this place, please leave a review! It should be highly recommended on google maps as attraction since it is the most interesting place I have visited when I was at Tours! Not the Tours castle or the museums which were closed in a Tuesday (very confusing, but I don't regret, since I had time to visit place and it was by the end of the day)

Super! Gardens are lovely and with a nice “fresh” touch: hammocks and comfortable chairs! Wonderful to experience this important place for a great poet, Pierre Ronsard.

Cloître de la Psalette is a stunning 15th-century cloister located next to Saint Gatien's Cathedral. The impressive structure showcases a mix of architectural styles, including elaborate stonework and a beautiful Renaissance staircase. It is listed as one of the National Monuments in France and served as a scriptorium in the past. Visitors can explore the room where religious chanting was practiced and admire the intricate details of the cloisters.
Simply Amazing!

Well worth the 4 euros to visit the cloisters. Do take the information leaflet and read it as you go round. There is some amazing architecture on show however it is rather bare in the upper rooms. Be aware it is not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair as you have to ascend a narrow spiral staircase.

(Translated by Google) Open Wednesday to Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. US$ 5.00 pp. This former cloister is open to visitors and is located within the grounds of the Cathédral St-Gatien. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, La Psalette was a vocal music school attached to a church, where young people received a high level of musical and religious education. From the early Middle Ages (5th to 10th centuries), the cloister was the workplace of the canons of the Cathedral of Saint-Gatien. In the late medieval period, the chapter, also called the assembly of canons, experienced great cultural activity thanks to its manuscript copying workshop, the scriptorium, and its library, which was then one of the richest in France. Three galleries still exist today. At the corner of the north and east galleries, a magnificent spiral staircase gives access to the upper floor. It opens to the outside through large windows. Inside, a core leads the eye to the top of the screw, which ends in a coffered ceiling.

(Translated by Google) I agree with the other comments that point to the odious attitude of the blonde cashier at the ticket office. During my visit to the cloister, I unfortunately experienced a very shocking experience. As a European Union citizen under the age of 26, I was supposed to have free admission to the historic monument. However, when I simply asked if the visit was possible, the receptionist replied, "Yes, it's paid," without asking me any questions or informing me that young people are entitled to free admission. So I paid €4 in cash, thinking this was normal. When I returned to calmly report this error, not only did the cashier refuse any refund, despite the fact that it was a cash ticket and therefore easily refundable, but she also held me responsible. She implied that I should have known before paying (which is absurd in a cultural venue that's supposed to inform its visitors) and spoke to me in a curt and condescending tone, concluding that she would "escalate" the situation, as if I were at fault. A completely inappropriate reaction. When I pointed out to her that the situation wasn't normal, she stared at me for a long time in silence, with a cold and hostile stare, which I experienced as intimidation. She spoke of "dissatisfaction" with me, when she simply hadn't respected a legal obligation to provide free admission. I left with a deep sense of injustice and the impression of having been ripped off, which is unacceptable in a public cultural site. It's a shame, because the cloister is worth the visit, but such a welcome completely spoils the experience.

Collégiale Saint Martin et Tour Charlemagne is a historical site located in the heart of Tours. The Tour Charlemagne, which stands as the last remaining part of the Saint-Martin de Tours basilica, is an imposing structure built over the tomb of Luitgarde, wife of Charlemagne. It's rumored that she was buried below the tower. The basilica was once larger and more majestic than Notre Dame but was unfortunately destroyed and partly demolished due to unsustainable renovation efforts.
The so-called Tour de Charlemagne (Tower of Charlemagne) and the Tour de l'Horloge (Clock Tower) are the only remnants of the original building.
Google review
We enjoyed seeing this 48 metre tall, 11th-century tower that was once part of a medieval basilica that was demolished during the French Revolution. It is across a small street and clearly separate to the present day late 19th-century basilica. Sadly the tower, being separated from the original church began to lose its structural integrity and partially collapsed in 1926. Various 20th-century restorations finally managed to reconstruct the tour, which is considered a National Monument, to what you see today. Information panels (French & English) next to the tower detail much of this history and is worth a read if interested in the building and basilica history.

Oh my Goodness!!!! Charlemagne died in 800 in this town, shortly thereafter the Carolingians started on this tower. Reported finish date is around 1000AD. Which makes sense with the unique Norman architectural elements ( short arches, Norman style edging similar to embroidery on the arches, pillars; solid, Romanesque original construction which looks a great deal like Norman/Lombard towers you will see in middle Italy and Sicily. The tower at Formia, north of Naples italy shares many charachteristics. Later modifications are easy to see. Buttresses, etc. It is an Absolute Tragedy the Original Romanesque Accompanied Church did not make it through the French Revolution. It must have been equally Immense, and keenly Crafted. The tower finally had almost 1/2 fall from neglect, absusive use as a lead Smeltery, carpenter shop, etc. Thank The Good Lord it was restored. MUST SEE ITEM

The Abbaye de Saint-Julien is a stunning church with an ancient appearance, showcasing its historic charm and authenticity. However, it is unfortunate that a modern-style building has been erected in front of it, ruining the overall atmosphere. It is difficult to comprehend why someone would choose to place such an unsightly structure next to such a beautifully preserved historical monument. Despite being rebuilt multiple times since its founding in 510AD, the church stands as a testament to France's resilience and ability to rebuild.
Beautiful ancien look church (i love how it looks ancien, not fixed or covered with new material). But too pitty there is a new style (look like a train station) in front of this architect which damaged all the atmosphere. Don't know who decided to put that ugly building next to such a beautiful ancien thing which is supposed to be valued and maintained the look of history 🙏🏻😢

Nestled in the heart of the Loire region, the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré (CCC OD) is a vibrant hub for contemporary art that opened its doors in 2017. This striking venue, designed by the acclaimed Aires Mateus brothers, serves as a platform for dialogue between works by local artist Olivier Debré and international talents like Lee Ufan and Klaus Rinke.
Just loved this!! 4 exhibitions running when we visited. Loved the tapestries of Koen Taselaar...so large had to take photos in parts . It's a must in my opinion.

Super interesting place presenting very varied work. Exhibitions are temporary so check the dates beforehand if you want to be sure to see what you want. Shout out to the people welcoming you at the desk, they are the sweetest!

This space has so much potential, unfortunately at the moment half of its space is taken by a pretentious and pointless exhibition by Christodoulos Panayiotou which is hugely underwhelming, trying to play on minimalist themes but failing completely. The other one, by Nicolas Lamas, is quite nice though (some pics attached)z No-go for July 2021 but maybe they’ll have some interesting exhibitions in the future.

(Translated by Google) Super nice evening, quality meal with responsive service. For the atmosphere, super nice however we would have preferred to have more transformist like the first number by Mylène Farmer it started so well we would have liked to see more numbers of this style with Dalida for example. However, we will come back with pleasure! All the staff, dancers, Nello, are great, very smiling and professional. (Translated by Google) Too many negative points to give it better than 2 stars: - The meal is truly the worst point and even a rip-off given the price charged. Eat elsewhere before coming! - Sitting at a table and high chair for 6 hours was so uncomfortable it became unbearable. - The show: the performers are clearly beyond reproach. The problem is the way the show is put together: constantly interrupted and chopped up with incessant downtime, you get bored and want it to finally end... A huge disappointment for us, especially since we've already seen other shows and cabaret shows of the same genre.

Museums
The Museum of Natural History of Tours is a modest yet intriguing museum that showcases stuffed bears, mammals, bones, fossils, and live reptiles across its four floors. While it may lack interactive exhibits and multimedia experiences, visitors can explore the diverse collection within an hour and a half. The museum also features a small library with puzzles and offers free entry for those under 26. Additionally, there are temporary interactive exhibits available at affordable prices.
This was a cool place. We especially loved the Vivarium. We were really impressed by the animal environments. The combination of water, land and treetop environments all in one display with animals all living together. We also loved the ant communities. Only 29 people at once allowed into the Vivarium but they are very good at making sure people get in.
Paula L — Google review
It is a decent museum and not too expensive. The stuffed animals are a hit or miss. Some are beautifully done, some have been subjected to the artist's interpretation. As it is a good collection, it would've been nice to see the animals more grouped in a diorama type style. Now it was missing cohesion and we were out within an hour. Good value for money tho!!

This is a nice and reasonably priced, local natural history museum in the historic city of Tours. We spent the earlier part of the day strolling through the historic section but had some free time. The Museum of Natural History is larger than it appears (from the outside) and can easily take an hour or two to peruse the 3 floors. The first floor had a lot of interactive science exhibits, letting you play the role a researcher with a lot of flora and fauna examples native to this region of France. The second floor houses a very nicely arranged and coordinated reptile and amphibian space with plenty of live specimens of snakes, frogs, geckos, etc. as well as several insect species. We made a game of finding all of the various specimens in each of the cases which can really take some time & sharp eyes. The third floor house a collection of taxidermy specimens of, mostly, large mammals. Again, well laid out and a pleasant space. The staff were very friendly and we appreciated the clean restrooms and convenient water fountain.
Bob T — Google review
Oh dear, this really is poor. The first bit was very amateurish. You went through plastic curtains to pretend you were at sea. There were a few videos and large photos with long explanations in French. The next floor was closed (they gave me a discount due to this). The final floor was a random display of stuffed animals that reminded me of museums of the 1960s/1970s. The whole thing seemed based on the French 'discovery' of other countries. Travelling the world and bringing back animals to stuff them is a legacy of which people should be ashamed. It's not something to be proudly displayed. I think it took me 10 minutes to look round. Not worth the bother.
Joan B — Google review
Small but very well arranged.
Chris R — Google review
Please don’t give your money to this place - as it fuels animal abuse. The tanks/cages are so small and the animals are clearly suffering. I wish I read reviews before I went as I wouldn’t have gone. Awful place. Please avoid to support welfare of living creatures.
Persis A — Google review
The vivarium alone is well worth the price and wait. I really enjoyed the different ant colonies. During public holidays you have to reserve a time slot or you might have to wait a while.
Roel J — Google review
This place is modest in comparison to some other natural history museums. There are 4 floors of exhibits which friending on the she of you children shouldn't take more than an hour and a half. They have live reptiles as well as larger taxidermied mammals and even some insects and sea creatures. There is a small library as well with some large puzzles. The major lacking element is more interactive exhibits. Very little video or auditory experiences. My favorite was probably the live ants exhibit. Definitely worth a visit but it will not take up a whole day. Luckily it's right next to a walkable area with restaurants and shops to purchase lunch or coffee after our before as this place does close down for 2 hours everyday for lunch so plan ahead! Pricing for families is reasonable. Enjoy!

(Translated by Google) It has no place in old Tours, is absolutely out of place. It would be much better at the Vinci or near the new buildings at the top of Rue Nationale (buildings that unfortunately don't enhance our city either.) A lot of money to clean it up after only 20 years, money that could have been used for the fountain, for which patrons are now being asked. Which is fine, but the money in the monster could have been used for something else.

(Translated by Google) Xavier Veilhan's The Monster is a work that, in my opinion, suffers from several shortcomings. First, the monster's aesthetic lacks originality and seems to borrow elements from other artists without truly innovating. Furthermore, the work seems devoid of conceptual depth, leaving the viewer with little to interpret. Finally, the choice of placement for the work can also be criticized, as it may not blend harmoniously into its surroundings. Overall, The Monster fails to create a strong emotional or intellectual impact.

The Musée de la typographie offers a fascinating display of printing machines and techniques presented by Mr. Mechin. This well-filled room provides an opportunity to delve into the universe of typography, which may initially seem inaccessible to those uninterested in the field. The immersion was very difficult, difficult to get into the atmosphere from the start (the game master didn't seem very motivated to involve us in the story). The setting is pretty but quite dangerous at times; one of us came out with scratches, and also, be sure to wear clothes that don't stay put because we come out with rather dirty clothes 🤣 Regarding the story, there's no real connection between the puzzles and this story. So, in the end, this escape game is more of a series of puzzles without any real connection.

Be sure to arrive early, and if you're 26 or under, you can get discounted last minute tickets for 7€ to most performances - in any available seat - half an hour before the show. A must visit to better understand the culture of the region, especially if you're studying abroad! Be sure to also check out the bar with the large beautiful painting ceiling.

Beautiful theatre, that unfortunately doesn't pay their orchestra. They went on strike 20mins before the performance, and the theatre wouldn't refund tickets. Solidarity with the musicians.

O my I was in the back right under the balconies like the 10 rows before me. Terrible experience, couldn't see anything and the doors kept being opened whereas during an opera show everything is maintained quiet. People arrived late - forbidden in opera when the show has started - and the people talked really loud because.they couldn't see where their seats were. I left at the intermission PS the seat was NOT cheap

Tour de l'Horloge, also known as the Clock Tower or Treasury Tower, is a remarkable remnant of the once largest basilica in Europe. Dating back to the 12th century, its imposing presence surpasses even Notre Dame. The exterior walls reflect this period while interior features harken back to the 11th century. Although only one side bears a clock, it remains an unmissable sight in the city and is located at the end of the historic district.
Amazing, ancient tower that has been part of the city do long, it was used as a Treasury, mayoral staff building, etc. shows late Romanesque style, with modifications. A Miracle it has made it so long. Wonderful

We enjoyed seeing this 11th-century medieval Basilica St. Martin vestige which remained after the original church was demolished during the French Revolution. It is 50-metres tall with a Gothic style exterior and makes for a nice complementary visit to the present day Basilica St. Martin. There is brief history available on an information panel (French & English) next to the structure which is a National Monument and worth a few minutes to view if you plan to include Basilica St. Martin during your sightseeing around Tours.

Park
Parc Honoré de Balzac is a sizable park located on a man-made island in Tours. It offers an animal park, a play area, and a river for canoe practice. The park provides well-maintained paths along the river banks and within the park itself, offering different views of the river. While it may be a bit of a walk from the town center, it's worth it for its peaceful atmosphere and ample space for walking or jogging.
nice parc I enjoyed been there Witt my baby
Ejatu J — Google review
Very good place to walk around and to sit when it is sunny with different views of the river and well-maintained paths along the river banks as well as the park itself. It is a bit of a pull, though, to walk from the town centre, but a rewarding glass of beer could be adequate compensation.

Wild large place. Good for a walk or a jog. Animals in the middle for your kids (cattle, donkeys...). Not so happy animals it seems.

The village hall in Sainte-Radegonde-en-Touraine is a spacious and serene venue situated on the grounds of a once thriving golf course. It offers expansive lawns, blossoming foliage, and an area dedicated to recreational activities for children. The location is highly appreciated for its large expanse that allows children to freely engage in spirited play amidst various wildlife species.

(Translated by Google) There are places for sports. You can run along the paths. There are benches where you can relax. The paths are covered with fine gravel. I was here in January. The weather was damp and windy. If in the city, due to the density of buildings, the wind is not felt, then in open areas it is very sensitive. I didn't see any toilets nearby. (Translated by Google) I came to apply for a passport renewal and had all the necessary documents. They asked me for my old passport. I explained that it wasn't mandatory because my old passport had expired more than five years ago. It's written on the public service website that you only need to bring it if the expiration date is LESS than five years. They told me this was false, without verifying or taking my objections into account, and they offered me an appointment three days later. I explained that I had taken the day off specifically and asked if there was a slot that afternoon. They told me no, it was very busy. I left the town hall and saw two slots available that same afternoon on the website... However, I was very well received for the second appointment, and apparently for new passports, the procedures are stricter, hence the request to bring my old passport in the morning. It would have helped to have clearer explanations from the morning, and for each town hall to standardize its practices. On me demande mon ancien passeport.

Indeed, we are currently going through an energy and climate crisis, and it is important to limit our energy consumption. In addition, the law on night lighting was strengthened in October 2022: you risk a fine of €7,500 if you do not apply it. I am convinced that this will be beneficial for everyone: your customers will appreciate this effort in favor of sustainable development, and you will save money. Thank you in advance for your action!
