The Royal Château of Blois is a former palace featuring ornate royal chambers and a collection of paintings and sculptures spanning from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Situated in the heart of a town, it comprises several distinct buildings dating back to the 1200s through the 1600s, totaling over 560 rooms and 75 stairways. Notably, it boasts a renaissance exterior spiral staircase on the Francis wing.
Very nice location and worth the visit! It really shows well how the place was modified along the ages. Guides are fantastic and really engaging. The light show was another great highlight!
Camila V — Google review
I really enjoyed the visit to this chateau, with its beautiful architecture and decorations. It also was well displayed and explained on information plates, plus the audio guides were a great help.
Adie K — Google review
We got the castle and light show combo for €22. The light show tells the history of the castle and is really impressive. The castle is bigger than it looks—it took us about 3 hours to explore. Very elegant inside, with beautiful furniture.
Alexandru L — Google review
The light and sound show was spectacular - wish I hadn't declined the English translation service as no idea what they were talking about. The night time experience was also very good. Recommend but take up the free translation

One of my favourite places in Loire Valley. So much history, so much to see inside and not busy at all. 4 different eras of buildings and super easy to navigate! Plus Blois is such a beautiful beautiful town!
Gabriela S — Google review
Beautiful Château with a long history going through different Kings and different Architecture style as well. They have a light show in the night which explain a long history -> amazing experince to listen and understand more about that😉
Quỳnh N — Google review
The various buildings abs their history is interesting and the histopad gives you the information that you would otherwise not know by just looking at them. Although inside is mostly artwork with a few pieces of furniture, again the histopad gives you that extra.

Fondation du Doute is a contemporary art center located in a vibrant space, showcasing an eclectic collection of multimedia works. The museum is dedicated to the radical Fluxus movement of the 60s and 70s, which aimed to challenge traditional perceptions of art and its place in people's lives. The museum features 300 pieces of work by 50 different artists, including a playful installation called the Wall of Words by artist Ben Vautier.
Very interesting and modern art, much of which is interactive. Fun things to do, we were able to make our own flags that will be displayed in an exposition. Really recommend!

Fantastic place. The art makes you think. Delightful. A little warm, though, despite the fans and one air conditioner.

An interesting modern art museum. I think we most enjoyed the exterior.

Great great repository of Fluxus works
Amanda V — Google review
It's a very different museum. You will find the concept of chaotic art in almost every artwork in the museum. The fluxux was also a new concept for me which applies to any sort of non-harmonic way of art which changes your point of view when next time you look at a painting or a photography.

The Robert-Houdin House of Magic, located in front of the Chateau Royal in the Loire Valley, is a large 19th-century house that offers an immersive experience into the history of magic and the life of local magician Eugene Robert-Houdin. The museum spans over five levels and features original exhibitions, optical illusions, and over 2000 square meters dedicated to showcasing the art of conjuring.
I hesitated at first because I'm not a big fan of magic, but the experience completely captivated me. It is so interesting to see objects that have been used in magic numbers, so much energy charge, I absolutely loved everything. The experience is delightful and I really recommend visiting, the ticket price includes a mini magic show and at the end the store offers you a multitude of extraordinary things.
Sasha — Google review
We had a fantastic time at the house of magic in Blois! My kids were absolutely amazed by the magicians performance live tricks throughout the museum. It really brought the magic to life in such a fun and interactive way! But the highlight for all of us was definitely the dragons that appear from the Windows every half hour. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever and couldn't stop talking about it! If you are in the area, this museum is definitely worth a visit. Even better: entry is free for children under 6 years old and the other ticket prices are very reasonable! Definitely a magical experience for the whole family! You don't need reservations, you can buy tickets at the entrance on the day of your visit.
Kenneth B — Google review
The museum was great.. not big, but very nice… and two great extras: the magic show is simple but very efective (mimic only … so great for non-french) and the coffeshop as very good crepes (loved the lemon curd fill) and an amazing REAL apple fruit juice … see photos
Jorge G — Google review
Amazing find, and truly enchanting addition to Blois. This is a different experience to other chateau’s and a deep dive into the history of magic and Robert-Houdin. The museum was interesting and interactive and the show was a surprising, yet fantastic extra included in the entry fee. Kept my children on the edge of the seats in amazement throughout the show (6-13 yrs)
Ben N — Google review
A great experience with two magic shows included. Every half an hour dragons appear out of the windows at the front
Stephen M — Google review
Situated just opposite the Chateau is this museum. For A relatively small fee we were able to experience both the museum and a show in the theatre at the premises. The show in the theatre was amazing with this being a great experience. My dissapointment was that the museum itself felt quite small, it could do with one or two more illusions to be installed. I would still highly recommend to go, with both children and adults enjoying this. If you manage to hit both the theatre show (this only occurs 2/3 times a day from memory) and the smaller shows in some of the rooms as well as the museum this museum does offer exceptional value, I would suggest to find out when the theatre shows are before arriving.
Nathan T — Google review
The museum is lovely, with some amazing interactive tricks and interesting displays. We went to see the magic show too, which did not disappoint. There are also some quite amazing animatronic dragons which come out of the windows A great experience!
Jonty P — Google review
Spent a rainy afternoon here and it was well worth the visit, despite not understanding the language of the close up magic shows. The show in the main theatre was great, all mime and some classic magic tricks, perfect for the whole family. The room of illusions was also lots of fun

(Translated by Google) It's included in the castle tour, so that's obviously a very positive point. However, I don't think I'll be very receptive. The works follow one another, with a lot of reading material. The setting is pleasant, but the rooms aren't intended to be historical recreations like the rest of the castle; they're simply an exhibition space. I admit I was bored, but the museum is quite beautiful. I'll leave some photos to give you an idea of what you might find there.

St. Saturnin's Church, one of the oldest in Blois, has a rich history dating back to a pre-Roman chapel. Reconstructed in the 16th century with support from Anne de Bretagne, it suffered damage during religious conflicts but was restored later on. Offering stunning views of Blois and the chateau, this church was once a significant pilgrimage site. It houses NOTRE DAME des Aydes and is where Joan of Arc had her soldiers confess before battle.

(Translated by Google) A church with Carolingian origins, destroyed and rebuilt several times, in part or almost entirely, fires, storms and destruction linked to different conflicts have marked its history. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the projects started were not completed. The charm of the building lies in this mixture of styles and its strange exterior and/or interior appearance. Beautiful stained glass windows light up this church, whose original wooden vault was replaced in the 16th century by a stone vault. The chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame des Aydes is remarkable. The statue of the virgin, originally recovered by the sailors, and object of a particular cult, having disappeared during the revolution of 1789, was replaced by a statue of the Virgin and Child. The chapel dedicated to Saint-Pierre, patron saint of mariners, is equipped with spectacular stained glass windows. This church was located in the Vienne district, this district was that of freshwater sailors, "the chalandoux", who navigated the Loire, a complicated river. On the west side, opposite the gate, on the other side of the street, is a strange building, the Aître Saint-Saturnin. Today a lapidary museum, this old gallery cemetery from the 16th century escaped the wars of religion.

St. Nicholas Church is located in the historic district of Blois, near the Chateau de Blois. The church, originally a Benedictine monastery, was constructed between the 12th and 13th centuries and showcases early Gothic art, including a beautiful capital. Visitors can explore the narrow streets around Old Blois and enjoy the picturesque Renaissance houses while taking one of four different walks that include this area.
Stunning coloured light falls beautifully across the lovely architecture from the unusual stained glass windows. Well worth stopping by for a cool walk round out of the heat. Seek out the blue stained glass windows furthest from the entrance. If you visit later in the afternoon (say 17:45) the light comes through at a lovely angle.

St. Vincent de Paul Church, located in the heart of Blois near Chateau de Blois, is a 17th-century architectural gem showcasing Baroque style and graceful proportions. The church's construction spanned several years and was completed through generous donations from Gaston d'Orleans and his daughter. Its facade, typical of a Jesuit church, boasts three levels of Doric and Corinthian columns.
Oh what a church , I always wonder just how hard it would have been to construct such a massive building and with such detailed architecture that has stood the test of time . The windows are amazing letting lovely coloured light filter through it . There is a fantastic what looks like a wooden type organ above the front door as you enter . It’s free to enter and I thoroughly recommend a visit either to pray or simply admire this stunning beautiful building.

One room houses the permanent exhibition on the animals of the Loire, and another room has a temporary exhibition, currently related to global warming. You can see, read, and handle the exhibits, which is great for keeping children interested. Both rooms are very well designed and fun. The welcome is truly very pleasant, and the staff (two women during our visit) are really friendly and helpful during this period of intense heat. If there were a small drawback, it would be the heat in the museum, which is not air-conditioned; however, a water fountain is available for visitors. Pleasant visit with four teenagers aged 11 to 16. Open all year round except December 25, January 1, and May 1. (Original) Petit musée en 2 grandes salles. The King Louis XII Fountain is a significant historical landmark located in the charming city of Blois. Although Louis may have been known as "Louis d'Orleans," he was actually a native of Blois, referred to as Blesois. In 1391, his grandfather, Duke Louis d'Orleans, bought the fortress from the declining Counts of Blois and gained complete control over the county six years later.

(Translated by Google) Place Louis XII was born around 1825 from the demolition of residential blocks, including the one against which the fountain was located, the only currently preserved vestige of the old district. On the Loire side, a vegetable market was built and to the west stood the city theater housed in the old medieval Hôtel-Dieu. Following the bombing of 1940, the square was redesigned and enlarged by the architects Aubert and Nicod who removed the theater and the vegetable market and cleared the retaining walls of the castle. Beautiful little-valued architecture. It offers visitors exceptional collections: statuary, goldwork, liturgical ornaments, devotional objects. Collections that show the importance of artistic creation inspired by the Christian faith for two thousand years. Whether created by established artists or simple craftsmen, the works of the Diocesan Museum of Religious Art of Blois speak first and foremost to the heart and remain accessible to all. Church statuary Most of these works center on images of Christ and the Virgin, in depictions of saints honored for their role as healers or venerated locally. Objects of worship Among the objects of worship presented, a large place is given to works of goldsmithery used during religious services: chalices and patens, ciboria, monstrances... Most date from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Other objects, sometimes very modest and just as moving, are precious witnesses of popular devotion and daily life in the past: bedside stoups, medals, brotherhood sticks, mariners' crosses. Textiles Whether it is the vestments of the priest and the assistants (albean, chasuble, dalmatic, stole), or the linens used during mass (corporal, manipule, manuterge), there are more than seventeen hundred pieces preserved at the museum. . And among these, remarkable embroideries made by the Carmelites of Blois in the 1680s. Paper rolls and canivets The museum maintains an important collection of rare pieces, quillwork and canivets, made by contemplative nuns, the Carmelites and the Visitandines. The paperolles, more than a hundred of them, are relief paintings enclosing relics or an image of Christ, Mary or the saints. The decoration surrounding the relics or images is made from strips of colored cardboard and rolled up using a penknife. Canivets are simple sheets of strong paper cut with a thin blade to draw a devotional image. History The Diocesan Museum of Religious Art was created in 1932 on the initiative of Mgr. Audollent, bishop of Blois, to ensure seminarians are introduced to the history of art. Its first curator was Father Maurice Hémonée, well known in Loir-et-Cher when he traveled the roads to collect from parish priests the “old junk” which was sleeping in the backs of churches or rotting in the attics of presbyteries. They were then no longer considered worthy of being used for worship or of being offered for the veneration of the faithful. Since 1984, the museum has been installed in the former Jacobin convent, the name often given to the Dominicans or Preaching Brothers, a convent founded here by the Count of Blois in 1273, between the Bourgmoyen district and the Faubourg du Foix. In this lively and lively district, at the foot of the castle and close to the Loire, the buildings currently visible include the cloister and the old refectory, dormitory and chapter room of the brothers, dating from the 15th-16th centuries.

The building itself is also interesting to explore: arches, a church, stonework and a well in the courtyard. We especially thank the museum workers: they were very nice, gave us a large and extensive tour (not only of the main exhibition, but also of the storerooms (!) and the closed church) and spent a lot of time. The exhibits are predominantly Catholic, from the Loire Valley, from different times. I think that the workers will be able to tell not only about the exhibits themselves, but also about the basics (catechism) of the Catholic faith, which will be of interest to visitors of other faiths and non-religious people. I would also like to note that on Saturdays at 15:00 (if I’m not mistaken) the museum hosts a free interactive program for children. Judging by the warmth and reverence with which the museum workers treat their work, I have no doubt that the program for children is also exciting and educational! I hope that this museum will be recommended to tourists at the Blois information office so that more people will come and see the wonderful exhibits. I sincerely recommend visiting it for both adults and children!

Golf Loches-Verneuil offers a pleasant environment for a round of golf with beautifully presented greens and fairways. The 9-hole course features unique hole designs, requiring players to go around twice for an 18-hole experience. While lacking a dedicated 19th hole, nearby bars in Loches provide ample post-game options. As the first course in the region, it boasts well-maintained greens that are watered to stop balls on landing.

Winery
Beautiful small farm like winery where you can taste the wines
Isabelle W — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience at this vineyard and winery. The family was lovely and welcomed us in for wine tasting immediately. There were many options for wine, we tried; 2 red, 2 rosè and many white and sparkling wines which were deliciousand full of quality. We were then taken all around and shown the wine making process where the lady was wonderfully informative. They had a lovely vineyard that stretched for miles growing different types of grapes. The purchasing of the wine bottles themselves and the tasting process was inexpensive. I would recommend to everybody this place is lovely.

Just stopped at cave after a castle visit in July. Tasted all the wines and crémants😉. Really enjoyed the friendly presentation and the taste of the products. Even the young boy supported the tasting😎. Finally bought several bottles😊 and since than we enjoy the summer holiday feeling. Thanks for the fine wines and crémant👏🥂.

We just loved this little vineyard. Just as all the other reviews said, the owners were so welcoming. The lady giving the wine tasting was very knowledgeable and helpful. We tasted sparkling, white, rose, and red. One white was out of this world, the oaked chardonnay. It was €6.60 but worth over €20 in our opinion. Would highly recommend. A fantastic farm vineyard. Bravo.

The definition of a family run business, both people we spoke to very good english. No frills no facade just nice wine. The Les Bruyères in particular is outstanding.

Absolutely lovely place in the middle of the French countryside. The fields of grapes all around are stunning. We just dropped in and they stopped what they were doing to allow us to have a tasting. Wish we had a larger baggage allowance so we could have bought more wine!
Aidan B — Google review
Family owned and graciously stopped in the middle of their daily operations to offer a tasting. Trust your planning and instincts and stop to taste. The wines were delicious and nicely priced. We hope you walk away with a bottle or two just as we did.
Becky A — Google review
Small family run vineyard. We were welcomed generously and the wines were good and well priced. You should definitely stop by if you are in the area. Thank you so much for the tasting and hospitality.
