The Museo Regional de Querétaro is located in the historic Ex Convent of San Francisco, a 16th-century colonial convent that served as a significant center for evangelization. The museum features six exhibition rooms showcasing artifacts and items from archaeological sites in the area, including photographs, models, utensils, and vessels.
I recently visited the Regional Museum of Querétaro and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The museum is housed in the historic Former Monastery of San Francisco, which adds a unique charm to the visit. The organization of the exhibits is very good, making it easy to follow the historical timeline and understand the context of each artifact. Here some highlights for me: 1. Archaeological and Historical Exhibits: The museum showcases a rich collection of artifacts, including sculptures, ceramics, weapons, paintings, and clothing from the Querétaro region. These exhibits provide a deep dive into the history and culture of the area, particularly focusing on the Otomi and Chichimeca ethnic groups. 2. Colonial and Independence Periods: The museum also highlights the multi-colored society of the viceregal period and the early independence period of Mexico. This section includes fascinating items from churches and monastery libraries, reflecting the social, economic, and political structures of the time. 3. Permanent and Temporary Galleries: The museum features seven permanent galleries and three temporary exhibition spaces, ensuring there is always something new to see. The quality of the exhibits is top-notch, with detailed descriptions and well-preserved artifacts. The museum is well-organized, with clear signage and informative displays that guide visitors through the various sections. The quality of the artifacts is exceptional, and the museum does a great job of preserving and presenting them in a way that is both educational and engaging. Overall, the Regional Museum of Querétaro is a must-visit for anyone interested in the rich history and culture of this region. The combination of its historic setting, well-curated exhibits, and high-quality artifacts makes it a standout attraction.

This museum is so interesting! In particular, it told a lot about the indigenous history of the region (something I haven’t seen in some other museums I visited in the area) and really enjoyed the exhibits on Mexican Independence and the Revolution. It only took us about an hour to go through the museum, but I easily could have spent a lot more time there—if you’re going to visit one museum in Querétaro, I’d recommend it be this one.
Cassandra C — Google review
COST: 90 pesos WORTH IT RATING: 6/10 The actual building that this museum is in, is an old convent several hundred years old. The architecture and the inner courtyard with a fountain are stunning and the best part of the visit. You can capture beautiful photos here. The information in the museum is ALL in Spanish, and very information heavy. If you speak Spanish, and enjoy large blocks of text, then this could be an enjoyable experience for you. It would take several hours to go through the entire museum and read everything. If you are fine with just walking around and perusing the old artifacts, clothing, and paintings, it could also be somewhat interesting. I felt the museum had a lot of potential and a lot of interesting info that i would have liked to learn, but the large quantities of text in Spanish made it feel overwhelming and dissatisfying.
Nichole P — Google review
A really cool museum to visit guys! Only cost 85 pesos, spent almost 2 hours(like to take my time in museum) lot of things to read about the cultul and the history of Mexico. A must go if you come here to visit!! Enjoyyy

(Translated by Google) There is a fee to enter the park, and there is also a museum. You also have to pay to buy tickets at the box office. I'm telling you this so you don't end up like some people who can't get in when they arrive at the museum because they sell tickets at the entrance. About the place, it's beautiful. In the museum, you learn about history and interesting things about Querétaro. The place is beautiful, clean, and very pleasant.

(Translated by Google) If they're charging admission, they should maintain it in better condition. I see several people who go there for a stroll, and it doesn't leave a very good experience. Also, the restrooms are in terrible condition. If they're already charging for admission, they should charge for the restrooms too, but make sure they're in good shape. As for the restaurant, it's a nice place to relax.

(Translated by Google) The Hill of Bells is often used for sweet 15 photos, weddings, etc. It's nice to walk around and look at the statue of Benito Juarez, but don't buy tickets for the museum. It's not worth it; most of the so-called interactive devices don't work. You just read a few slides and that's it. Entrance to the park costs $7 and the museum is $23. DO NOT PAY THE $23. Besides, they have clowns who don't let you bring anything in. They even stole a keychain I had in my bag, so why not buy toys?

(Translated by Google) For lovers of Mexican history, this place is a must-see. The chapel marks the spots where Generals Mejía and Miramón, and Archduke Maximilian, stood before their execution. Further up the hill, a massive statue of Benito Juárez, the revered figure, dominates the landscape. It's as if he's saying, "We won."

My fav museum in Queretaro. They have a few rooms displaying arts from different artists. Some are really amazing and unforgettable.

The museum was nice. Most of the exhibitions are contemporary. There is not much classic art. Admission is free. Staff are friendly. It is not a very big museum.

The Museum was once a cloister for St Agustin. It houses various temporary exhibitions, mainly from Mexican artists. And is worth visiting. The building itself is magnificent with XVIII Baroque architecture. The museum is free to access.
Carlos B — Google review
This majestic museum is free to enter. The building is wonderful and the sun lights up its orange walls. It had several exhibitions, all were well curated and beautifully displayed. This is a must see when in Queretaro
Graham S — Google review
This art museum is a gem of Querétaro. In addition to being free (there's not even a donation box and I have never been in any museum in any city without a donation box), it has a varied and interesting collection and is housed in an impressive architectural building which in itself is a work of art. Formerly the Augustinian monastery, the building is spacious and comfortable. The works are somewhat shockingly unprotected and virtually outdoors but I guess if your climate is arid enough this is fine? Anyway, worth a visit and worth your time.
Anna S — Google review
A free art museum housed in a beautiful old Augustine Monastery with some lovely examples of contemporary and historical local art. Currently under renovations that are adding even more exhibit space. It only takes an hour and a half to get through, but it's worth every minute.

Fantastic views of the city and the aqueduct. I wish we had visited at night to see the city lights. Easy walk down to centro.
Brian K — Google review
Great view point close to many historic monuments and interests. But honestly not the best view of the los arcos. Because of all the unevenly constructed houses and buildings. the best view is from the beginning of road that leads to the mirador. But I highly recommend visiting this view point.
Patric V — Google review
Nice panoramic viewpoint- it’s free to see, so no cost associated with it. The only thing is if it’s a busy time there might not be enough railing space for you to get a selfie’s/ pics, so you might have to wait a bit.
M C — Google review
The viewpoint is located a few blocks away from the terminal part of the aqueduct. Its a pretty good spot to take in the full scope of the arches. Its clean, and safe at least during the daytime. There are a few vendors and there is an interesting cemetery nearby. A 15, maybe 20 minute visit should suffice.

Such an amazing spot! The view from Mirador de los Arcos is incredible. And it’s not just the viewpoint there’s a bunch of interesting historical places around it too, so it’s fun to walk around and explore a bit. If you can, go in the evening. When the aqueduct lights up at night, it looks absolutely beautiful. The whole area gets a really nice vibe. Definitely worth checking out!

Located in the heart of downtown, Templo de San Francisco is a historic religious site with origins dating back to 1550. The temple, completed in 1640, was the first religious building constructed in Queretaro and played a significant role in the urban development of New Spain. It served as a cathedral for several years and now houses the Regional Museum of Queretaro.
Impressive building, but I actually enjoyed the plaza outside more than inside the church itself.

Most churches in Queretaro are ok looking but will not make a lasting impression on a visitor. This one is no different. It has a rich and interesting history but overall it is not so different from other churches in Mexico as to stand out.
Bobby C — Google review
Construction of Queretaros' first religious building began in the late 1500s. The temple of San Francisco acted as a convent church, cemetery, and orchard. It is located in the historical center of Santiago de Queretaro. From 1852 to 1922, it functioned as a Catholic cathedral. The architecture is a mix of Baroque and Neoclassical styles. During the centuries, the site has received numerous renovations and upgrades. Unfortunately, most of the temples and chapels from the 16th and 17th centuries were destroyed during the reform war of 1858-1861.

Top notch museum. We didn't make plans for our visit here, but wanderers stumble on great things. This was one of our favorite museums that we visited so far in Mexico. The collection is great. I don't know how much the rotate exhibits, but I found it inspiring!

What a beautiful use of an old convent. The exhibits were varied and really interesting. They have stairs or an elevator. The staff was kind and helpful. And it is free and there is a lovely plaza and church adjacent. Go!

This place is AMAZING! Super modern in an historic renovated convent located in one of the plazas in the historic centro! The renovation of the building is it's own feature! We were stunned at the super cool exhibits which some were over-the-top funky. The Sunday we went there was no entrance fee which we couldn't believe. As you enter the outdoor space the first thing we notice was a giant Salvador Dali structure. Go inside and there was a variety of exhibits from artist all over the world. It ended up being the highlight of our trip to Queretaro!

The Mucal Museum Calendar, located in the historic center, is a unique museum that showcases decades of Mexican calendar art. The museum consists of 19 exhibition rooms displaying original artworks and over 400 retro-style calendars. Housed in a beautifully renovated mansion with gardens and courtyards, it offers a journey through time and space. Visitors can explore the political and commercial messages in 20th-century calendar art and compare calendars from different civilizations.
I was unsure given the name but the Calendar Museum is wonderful. The building and grounds alone are worth the visit. I was impressed with the amount of rooms and the quality of the of the displays. In the back of the garden is a cafe restaurant.

Probably one of the most interesting museums I have been to, it sounds boring but the reviews here are right when they say you will have fun in this museum. It's very fascinating to look at different types of calendars and calendar arts from all over the world. You can also buy something from their cafe with the ticket you bought. All in all, a really good deal that you shouldn't miss when in Queretaro.
Nicole — Google review
Very cute and interesting museum. It starts with tons of information about calenders in different cultures around the globe and continues with many many beautiful Mexican calenders and calender paintings from the beginning of the 20th century to nowadays. Some of them historical, some mythical, some romantic, some funny, some sexist. You can learn a lot about a society by looking at its calenders apparently 🤓. The exhibition rooms surround a gorgeous garden patio that makes visiting here even more pleasant. The layout of the museum is easy to follow with numbered rooms and even markers on the floor that tell you where to go next. Staff is very friendly. Some even speak English and give you an English pamphlet with a map, so it's a tourist friendly place. I really loved this place. It really shows that with enough dedication and care, you can make a museum about any subject

This was an interesting museum! After about 20 minutes I started wondering why there are so many calendars here. I didn't realize this was a calendar museum. LOL. Then I said OH!! It was really interesting seeing the different calendar art and the other art presented. I think you will enjoy this museum. You can easily spend an hour or two looking around and they have beautiful gardens.

Its a beautiful place, with a great patio and terrace.
Andrea C — Google review
Educational but mostly fun to see how cultural norms are reflected in the art of Mexican calendars. Probably better to go with someone to exchange observations. The interior garden is phenomenal and cool, and there are some interesting views from the terraza.
Kyle M — Google review
Never realized how important calendars have been to the Mexican culture. Dating back to the Mayan civilizations the calendar museum dates the chronological history of the calendars. Also showcasing beautiful art galleries from Mexican painters. The building showcases some of Queretaro's architecture with green courtyards and a nice restaurant and bar. The terrace by far was my favorite place. Sitting in the benches with the cool mountain breeze and the amazing views from around the city. A must if you are in the area.

National Park Cerro de las Campanas is a historic hill and national park in Queretaro, Mexico. It features a statue of Benito Juárez, a chapel, and a museum. The park holds significant historical importance as it was the site where Emperor Maximiliano de Habsburgo and Miguel Miramon were executed in 1867. There is also a small chapel built by the Austrian government to commemorate Maximilian's death.
I'm looking forward to returning and take a notepad and take notes the tour guide was very knowledgeable of all it's history

Very nice green space near the university. Quiet, shady and not busy even on a weekend. Entrance to the park is seven pesos. They have nice bathrooms inside the park. Many of the trails are rough uneven stones, so have good footwear. There was no view from the top, as it is surrounded by trees, but there are a few viewpointsin different directions from the trails. Several good and inexpensive restaurants in the university neighborhoods surrounding the park.

Beautiful grounds & trees but not much to see & is good walk from Centro. Cost only 7 pesos for entry. If want to enter the small museum you pay more.

This place was beautiful and well maintained! The tour bus only took us to El Cerro de las Campanas, but this place also has a museum in the back and a scenery plus a huge statue of Benito Juarez. Something we would have missed if we didn't see the huge statue while riding the tour bus! We totally recommend to visit the entire place on your own.

Very lovely park where you can stroll around and learn some history while you’re there. Admission to the park is just a few pesos and there is a separate admission to the museum that you must purchase at the main entrance, not at the museum. There is a chapel on the hill where Emperor Maximilian and two cohorts were executed for treason. At the top of the hill is an impressive statue of President Juarez and of the centro of Queretaro along with some nice views of the city. Not a grand scale National Park like the USA, but a nice visit all the same.

Maximiliano wash shot here. It is very historic. Well done. The stone bell on the right inside the gate is a fun surprise. The 5 pesos park maintenance fee is very acceptable considering the result is a very well kept park. Don't miss the wax museum, if you are into such things.

This place was beyond amazing. Not as much history as I expected but it was the most beautiful botanical garden! We walked through trees and butterflies everywhere! I sat down to write about life and it inspired me so much. We left this amazing amazing park feeling almost peaceful and renewed. Highly recommend. Parking was super easy on the street infront of the entrance. Very safe area as well!

It’s clean, well-maintained, and never feels overcrowded, making it ideal for both quiet moments alone and friendly gatherings. Templo y Exconvento de la Santa Cruz is a historic 15th-century church and convent located in Queretaro. It features a unique cross made of tree thorns and an outdoor splash fountain. The monastery harbors the Arbol de la Cruz, a tree with thorns that grow in the shape of little crosses. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about Mexican history and explore the well-preserved building.
I went back and managed to get on a tour in Spanish, the fact I didn’t understand so much made no difference to the fact the building is magnificent and well worth walking through. Do give yourself time to visit this old convent, as last time I was here I missed it.

Great tour that helps maintain the facility. However, if you're not a Spanish speaker, you may not get as much from the tour (IMHO, still worthwhile). For 60 years or older, the cost is $10 pesos per adult (about 50 cents). Otherwise, it's $20 pesos per person (about $1 USD). The famous Querétaro aquaduct terminates inside the convent walls. The kitchen area includes a view of the "refrigeration" methods from before the industrial age, as well as the chimney for the cooking fires and the water storage wells. Highly recommend.

The Acueducto de Querétaro, also known as the Aqueduct of Querétaro, is a historic stone aqueduct that dates back to the 18th century. Stretching over 1,280 meters in length and standing at a towering height of over 28 meters, it features an impressive total of 74 arches.
Very well preserved stone built aqueduct near the historic town center of Queretaro. There is an elevated panoramic terrace near by that allows you to see the whole aqueduct and the town built around. Only down the street from the terrace you will find the church where the Austrian Emperor of Mexico, Maximilian took refuge.

Steve P — Google review
In the middle of a very busy street in the middle of an equally hectic city is this astounding example of a historically significant piece of architecture and engineering. The Aqueduct of Queretaro runs a fair distance and although one could walk, bike, or drive the entire distance, it is not necessary. At the point on Google Maps where this pin is placed is a plaza with benches, some information boards, a few artistic bronze statues, and it is an excellent spot to take some photos of this engineering marvel. The fact that at the time of my visit there was a group of university grads taking photos in their grad gowns tells me this is a popular spot amongst locals for that special photo. I am really glad I came here to check out this gem and am awarding this with 5 stars.
Wong F — Google review
The aqueduct stretches for a good while, over a kilometer, so your experience of it will vary depending on where you see it. To be honest, it's not that impressive. Five minutes after you get there you'll be done taking your pictures and looking for something else to do.

Los Arcos" in Querétaro, Mexico, which is a natural monument and tourist attraction. Los Arcos is a rock formation located in the Sierra Gorda mountain range, about 22 kilometers northeast of the city of Querétaro. Los Arcos consists of seven large rock arches that span a distance of approximately 300 meters. The arches were formed over millions of years by erosion from wind and water, and they are composed of sandstone and shale. The site is considered a sacred place by the indigenous communities of the area, and it has been used for religious ceremonies for centuries. Today, Los Arcos is a popular destination for tourists and hikers who come to explore the natural beauty of the site and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. There are several hiking trails that lead to Los Arcos, and visitors can also enjoy activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, and zip-lining. There is also a small museum at the site that provides information about the history and geology of Los Arcos. Overall, Los Arcos is a unique and fascinating natural wonder that offers visitors a glimpse into the geological and cultural history of the region.

The ancient baroque structure is adorned with intricate figures and serves as a showcase for both local and foreign artists from the 21st century.
Wow! This is one of the best contemporary art galleries I’ve visited. Not only is the building very cool, the art inside is really good (not always a given). There’s a lot to see in here - and it’s free!

This is a place that demonstrates the type of buildings in the Centro Histórico. They rotate the exhibitions of the first floor, while the top floor is all about the construction of the temple and it's convertion into a museum. It is free every Sunday. There is also a mummy on the top floor.
MyHusband D — Google review
So this isn’t a museum about Queretaro city, it’s a modern art museum in an a ramshackle old building. Some exhibits are quite creative, though there isn’t much in the way of explanation (and what there is is in Spanish only). It’s free and worth a visit if you’re into modern art.
Ryan W — Google review
This place gives off creepy vibes-maybe because we went in the evening? It’s a former convent and it’s pretty run down. One of the security guards had some interesting stories to share about the building and creepy things that he’s seen. It seemed like someone was camping out there and seem to have some of his clothes hanging on the weird wooden structure around the fountain. Was that part of the installation?? I don’t think so…. It’s cool that local artists have somewhere to show their art. Our admission was free—not sure if it always is. We went Sunday evening.

It's a beautiful architectire of the city, with unique and different expositions. Now is in remodelation but still nice.
Ali R — Google review
There is SO much history in the building itself! A former religious convent that was turned into a museum around ‘97. You will need a guide to help you learn about it, since this is not a historic museum. There are several presentations, cinema, design, music concerts and traditional, contemporary and modern art expositions. They are usually great and free. Would definitely recommend!
Sab G — Google review
This place is more of an active, contemporary art museum that is unafraid of showcasing the unique and unusual. Not all of the exhibits are superlative, but there are definitely gems that can be found amongst the hidden back rooms of this old converted monastery. My admission late on a Sunday was free, and the experience was worth much more than that.
Duffy E — Google review
This place is ok, tours at night must be terrifying as it looks gloomy. There's music, theatre and installation performances almost every single day, so you will not get bored. Probably if you want to present something here, you should actually think about all the stuff you should bring with you as the organisation does not always provide what is needed.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this market close to the Raizor Hotel. It is definitely an authentic Mexican experience. The people are friendly and engaging. The Mercado offers everything from fruits, vegetables, meat, clothing, housewares, delicious rotisserie chicken, freshly made coffee, and sandwiches. The highlight was the taco stand. It has been there since 1978. Everything they made was awesome and reasonable in price. My only complaint would be that I didn't take any photos to share the experience. I would suggest also visiting this area in the evening when the market is closed. There are various food trucks and stalls that set up with their authentic Mexican dishes. 👌 From tortas to tacos, Mexican street food is worth the experience. Happy belly ,happy life.

It's a local market in Queretaro where you can buy anything for home needs such as vegetables, meat, fish, chicken, baking items, plates and utilities for food, electric items, toys, paper items, sausage, sauce, etc. There is shop bamed Molino where you can buy nuts, Chilli powder, rice powder, maida powder, Turmeric, Garam masala, etc at a cheap cost. The best part is that most if the items are available at a reasonable price. The parking space is limited and hence it us advised to reach there earlier in case you're in a hurry to leave back. The staff here is very friendly and many of them know English too. In case you can't find someone to help you

Archaeological site
Points of Interest & Landmarks
El Cerrito Archaeological Zone is a fascinating site dating back to approximately 300 BCE, featuring a pyramid that was once used as a worship site by the ancient Toltec civilization. The pyramid, reaching up to 30 meters in height, offers an Indiana Jones-like adventure for history enthusiasts. Surrounding the partially excavated pyramid are well-maintained grounds and interpretive trails for visitors to explore.
Loved this! Sadly the museum was closed on the day we visited but the gardens were beautiful and the main temple were amazing. The security personnel on site (there to supervise that no one climbs the ruins) were so helpful and shared wonderful stories about the history of the site!
Michael P — Google review
Another beautiful archaeological site. There is limited on street parking near the entrance however there is a parking lot to the southwest of the pyramid on Calle Camino Al Cerrito. I can’t remember how much the cost was but it was around 40 pesos. There is a little bit of a walk to enter the front entrance, but it’s manageable. You have the option of doing a guided tour. We did not do this during our visit however, there was a group of students that were there and it seemed as the guide was giving them a lot of in-depth information. The museum on site had good information. The walk to where you’re able to see the whole pyramid wasn’t too bad and a small incline, but it was very manageable. The path around the archaeological site takes you to a couple of different sites. All very manageable. I would recommend the experience.
Traveling A — Google review
It’s located a little out of town. We went on a Friday morning and we were the only people there. Only accept pesos to pay for ticket. It’s a somewhat easy walk up to see the pyramid. If you’ve seen any ruins in the past it’s very similar and I would pass on this excursion. If you’ve never seen a pyramid before this would be a nice place to visit. There’s a small museum as well. Not much else to do there.
Reviews N — Google review
The pyramid was recently discovered in the mid 90s and it's well preserved, definitely a must visit and experience for yourself.
Alekz B — Google review
This is such an interesting historical gem on the outskirts of Queretaro. The grounds are nicely landscaped and beautiful to walk around. There's shade, benches, and restrooms available. There's easy transport on public buses or using ride-sharing. The pyramid cannot be climbed, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Discover the rich history of the Mexican War of Independence at Museo de los Conspiradores, located on Andador 15 de Mayo no. 18. The museum showcases meticulously crafted wall paintings depicting this historical period and offers a glimpse into the roots of Mexican traditions. While the historical descriptions are only available in Spanish, they are presented as works of art themselves, written in an elegant cursive typeface with names of historical figures creatively integrated into the design.
Good history, murals and a really good video. Free entrance well worth the visit.

This free museum has the war of independence history depicted in meticulously crafted wall paintings. Although the historical descriptions are only in Spanish, they are by itself a work of art as they carefully written in cursive typeface. The names of some of the most historical characters, such as Hidalgo, are written along the shape of the scalp. The museum is well worth seeing not only for its historical value but also for its originality and artistic value.
Alexandre F — Google review
The whole downstairs is about the Freemasons- kind of interesting and unexpected. The upstairs details the history of Mexico's independence as writing on the walls of several rooms. It is rather a dull exhibition, although the history itself is important.

Nestled within the historic walls of the former San Agustin monastery, the Museo de Arte Sacro stands as a testament to Mexico's rich Baroque heritage. Established in 1743 by Augustine friars, this museum showcases an impressive collection of colonial-era art, thoughtfully organized by painting style. Visitors can explore both older and contemporary religious artworks that reflect deep devotion and spirituality.
Sizable exhibition space filled with older and contemporary religious art. Entrance is 50 pesos and another 25 pesos if you are bringing professional video recording equipment. I really loved the exhibit showing the backpacking pilgrims as they travel to various sacred sites around Europe. Dedication, discipline and devotion to a higher power. Definitely recommend if you are interested in the higher realms of the human experience.

Church
The Templo de San Antonio de Padua in Santiago de Queretaro is a stunning example of colonial architecture with a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Originally built by the Franciscan order, it played a significant role in the Mexican War of Independence. The exterior reflects Spanish Colonial design, while the interior boasts Baroque elements and houses exquisite altar pieces and sculptures.
Welcome to the Temple of San Antonio in Queretaro! This beautiful church has a rich history and many interesting stories to tell. Did you know that the temple was built in the 18th century by the Franciscan order? It was originally a small chapel, but it was later expanded into the stunning church you see today. One of the most fascinating things about the temple is its unique architecture. The facade of the church features a mix of Baroque and Churrigueresque styles, with intricate carvings and sculptures that are truly breathtaking. Another interesting fact about the temple is that it played a key role in the Mexican War of Independence. In 1810, Father Miguel Hidalgo, a leader of the independence movement, took refuge in the church with his followers. They used the bell tower as a lookout point to watch for approaching Spanish troops. Finally, one of the most beautiful features of the temple is its stunning stained glass windows. These colorful works of art depict scenes from the life of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of the church. Be sure to take a close look at them when you visit! I hope you enjoyed learning about the Temple of San Antonio. It's truly a gem of Queretaro and a must-see for anyone visiting the city.

The temporary exhibit is so powerful, relevant and beautiful too. The historical objects and explanations (in Spanish) taught me much I did not know and brings the period to life. The room with the info on the (female) monks attributes Mexico's gastronomy to them! Great museum!

What an incredibly beautiful place! Food was fantastic. View was incredible. The amount of work to maintain this establishment must be substantial. Waiters were courteous but did miss who had what so we had to shuffle things around several times. That is the only reason this place didn't get a 5-star. I'm stingy with 5 star ratings. Overall they did a great job so no complaints. Food was very good, from he appatizers to the main dish. Tortilla soup was delicious but I would probably pick the onion soup next time. We had a few appitizers and they were all good, including the fresh Guacamole. For dinner I had two shrimp tacos with cabbage. I would eat these on a regular basis. Overall, very good place. Would be worth the visit. Will be on my list my next trip to town.

This is a beautiful square where during our Sunday evening visit was being prepared for a band at 7pm to provide dancing music for the locals. At 5pm chairs were all set up on the perimeter and slowly the local community started arriving and dancing to recorded music. It was like a scene from the past. Mostly elderly folks dressed to the nines greeting each other with kisses on the cheek. Super cool and romantic.

The menu features a wide range of international dishes, including salads, pizzas, and delectable desserts, complemented by a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.
The best dinner we've had in Querétaro. Prepare for a 3 flight walk-up, but it's all worth it when you get to the terraza. Attentive service and the food was perfecto. Great cocktails too. We ordered salmon carpaccio, shrimp bisque, lasagna bolognesa and herb crusted salmon. We timed it for the sunset which was incredible.

Ugh. I didn't have a reservation (my mistake) and showed up an hour before sunset as a solo diner. I was sat right by the entrance which has decent views, but you can't actually see the sunset from there. I had one drink and when offered tequila choices, the server recommended the most expensive one which I didn't want. If you go, come for a single drink and make a reservation.

We visited this place on a Friday at 11 am and found a line to get seated, but we didn’t mind the wait. Plaza de los Fundadores is a historic square located near the Ex-Convento de Santa Cruz. Dating back to the 16th century, it was once a bustling center for commerce and politics. The plaza boasts a charming fountain and a bronze sculpture of the founders, surrounded by significant buildings such as Casa de la Corregidora. Visitors can enjoy live music and concerts in the evenings, along with an array of cafes, street food vendors, and shops.
Beautiful spot for walking and having something to eat or drink. It's full of restaurants, bars, antiques shops, and some beautiful old businesses you must experience. If you visit on weekdays, there's almost always parking spaces all around.

Like most people have reviewed...many vendors crafts and food in any given day with a variety of eateries on the plaza. Santa Cruz and MACQ right on the plaza so worth a trip to tour those. Different events occur depending on holiday or time of year. Was lucky enough to catch dancing and drumming event at beginning of year. Bonus is easy walk to the aqueduct Mirador or lookout, follow the sidewalk along santa cruz and you'll find it. You might even have a chance to see local futbol game from the park you'll walk past.

This prestigious hotel features elegant suites and a restaurant on its premises. The building dates back to the 1700s, when it was the home of a noblewoman. It has been extensively redone and refurbished in recent years, which adds an air of luxury to the experience.
While strolling around, we passed by La Casa de la Marquesa and couldn’t resist going in. The building is absolutely stunning! We decided to have lunch there and received excellent service. The staff were very attentive and made sure our requests were met in a very nice way. During our meal, we also got to enjoy live music, a pianist playing a few beautiful pieces. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful.

We had a horrible experience. Checkin was very slow and unorganized. The hotel flooded on the second night due to poor maintenance. We had to move out at midnight as our room was flooded and the ceiling caved in at the main staircase. We were promised reimbursement of our 2 rooms and it has been a week and they still have not reimbursed us. The bathroom shower curtain kept falling. The duvets had no covers and the sheets were too small for the size of the bed. I do not know how they have passed safety inspections. They keep giving me excuses around the reimbursement.
Andrea D — Google review
such a pity. The beautiful decor hides atrocious service. The room smelled badly, the staff were dismissive and unhelpful, the bed sheets were stained and ancient. And definitely don't eat in the restaurant. Poorly prepared and bland food. Only good thing was the charming pianist. Never again.

Stay away from any of the food They have the worst roach infestation that I have ever seen in their kitchens The property is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed. I am very sorry that I am posting a negative review about them We booked a one night stay with breakfast. After checking in we went out to explore the city. When we came back at night we were looking for the restroom and we accidentally went in the kitchen that's located on the left hand in the back as we go in. We could no believe what we saw. The floor, the walls and the counters of the kitchen that they prepare food was filled with roaches. I was reading all the comments about the great food the have. If I only those guests knew that the chefs are cooking with roaches. If the hotel was in the United States or Europe it would be closed indefinitely as it's a hazard to public health. The next morning we said there is not way on earth we would have breakfast there. So we went to the main square. When we came back we spoke to a lady with curly blond hair which was the manager. We explained the situation and we asked for a refund for just the breakfast because we could end up in the hospital if we ate their food. Even though the lady acknowledged that they have a roach infestation in the kitchen for many years she refused to give any refund. It was ridiculous. I wonder how many people have ended up in the hospital because of them. If anyone does not believe me, I dare them to check their kitchen and see the roach infestation that they have.

Disappointing Experience — Not What It Claims to Be We were really excited to stay at La Casa de la Marquesa. The marketing — especially for the Presidential Suite — made the hotel look luxurious and well-maintained. While we knew there wouldn’t be a pool or gym, the promise of exceptional service and immaculate rooms led us to book. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. • Service at the front desk was subpar — slow, inattentive, and understaffed. • Housekeeping failed to show up twice, and simple requests like water or toilet paper were ignored. We had to go downstairs ourselves each time. • The bathroom was filthy — grime everywhere, a loose and barely working showerhead, and terrible water pressure. • The room itself is just a large, echoing box — no warmth, no comfort. • There’s no coffee available until after 7 a.m., and there are no coffee machines in the rooms or common areas. For travelers who are up early, this is a big miss. The hotel’s location is excellent, and the building has undeniable historical charm. But everything feels neglected. It needs serious maintenance and an upgrade in hospitality standards. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a charming hostel-style stay in a historic setting, this might suit you. But if you want the amenities, service, and reliability of a proper four-star hotel, this isn’t it. I regret not staying with a more established hotel brand.

The place is beautiful, as it’s an old mansion. Since it’s an old building, the room had a bit of a musty smell, which I don’t mind. However, the issue was finding cockroaches in the kitchen as I accidentally passed by, and not just one or two, but an infestation. They were on the stove, coffee makers, everywhere. I asked for a full or partial refund, which I didn't get. This issue poses a health risk for both guests and anyone dining there, which is why I’m alerting others about this situation.

I'm writing specifically for the restaurant. We stayed in queretero for 3 nights and this was by far the best meal from start to finish. II ordered the mushroom soup to start. It was warm and earthy, however I would have liked to have had mushrooms in the soup not just broth. I give it a good not great. I ordered the local wine from queretero rosa. It was delicious. 3 glasses worth. Main meal I ordered chicken Cordon Bleu. The flavor was subtle not drenched in cream sauce and the chicken was cooked to perfection! Great on both wine and entre. Rarity to order dessert for me, but so far the meal is great so why not. I had the crepe. Delicious cajeta and fresh strawberries blackberries and raspberries. Again great rating. I'm planning on coming back for breakfast tomorrow before I leave the city. Highly recommend the restaurant!!!!!

Benjamín pulled me in off of the street like a New Orleans Hawker and I was admittedly a bit apprehensive at first. But I can honestly say that of all of the places I have been in Mexico this is one of the best experiences that I have ever had! The service is phenomenal, the food is exquisite, and everyone here takes a personal interest in your experience.

(Translated by Google) In a very objective way I am going to highlight the good, the bad and the ugly of the place. I would like to start with the ugly, I think that bathrooms leave a lot to be desired, the reflection of a clean bathroom is everything for me. I mention it because in the case of the men's bathroom, the urinal was in very bad condition, they only put a transparent tape on it so as not to use it but it was full of urine and clogged, I think that is in very bad taste and more so because instead of To fix the problem they try to add a lot of flavorings. Followed by the bad, the food has a good presentation, I think it has a lot of potential but the flavors are unbalanced, we ordered the pizza and it was very salty. And I like to end with the good because I don't want to leave a bad impression of the places. I think the atmosphere and the people make the place special. The attention of the waiter who served us was also very good. In short, I think that if you are only going to sing and consume very little it is a good place, plus the sound is not excessive.

(Translated by Google) Bad experience. The valet parking service is clearly in collusion, as a friend's truck was stolen yesterday while it was in their custody. They did not take responsibility, showed total indifference and made it clear that they do not care about the safety of customers. I do not recommend this place at all, it is a huge risk to trust them with your vehicle. (Original) Pésima experiencia. (Translated by Google) The waitress that we had was rude from the moment we arrived at the place, we let it go by, she never played our songs and also demanded a tip even though she was never attentive to our table, it should be noted that it seems that we do them a favor by consuming instead, the truth is that she left a lot to be desired.

A fee will be collected at the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. The overall view is inspirational and breathtaking. Take a hike if you have enough time. The best way to get there is to hire a taxi all the to the foot of the mountain, it will cost about 1000 pesos round trip.

The town is wonderful. Now about the hike to the mountain: the tourist entry from the town side cost 30 pesos, but they never give you any information. Like : sorry, the top is closed today. This side of the mountain is private. Yes, unlike Europe or the usa, people here in Mexico get to own mountains, lakes, rivers… all of it and then monetize it. If you want to enjoy the nature like civilized people do, you need to pay for it and then abide the stupid rules. Yes, there are plenty of those. I highly suggest you enter the mountain from the west side, from the camping grounds- it’s free and the hike is much more scenic . Good luck! 👍

A lot of the good reviews are from many years ago. We came today on a Thursday and the park was only open for walking and the rides were closed. Luckily they let us walk the park because it let us see how run down it is. The plants are dead, the lake they have in the park is full of garbage and stinks, the rides look very rusty with some even closed under maintenance. Overall, I wouldn’t trust the rides here.

Most churches in Queretaro are ok looking but will not make a lasting impression on a visitor. This one is no different. It has a rich and interesting history but overall it is not so different from other churches in Mexico as to stand out.

Zoo
Zoo Queretaro Wameru may not be the largest zoo around, but it certainly surprises visitors with its impressive collection of animals. From majestic white Bengal tigers to playful hippos and regal lions, the variety is noteworthy for a zoo of this size. While some cages could use improvement, many guests appreciate the close-up views of healthy animals in a more intimate setting. A visit typically lasts about two hours, making it an ideal stop for families or those looking for a quick outing.
The cages could be better, but there’s a wide range of animals. It’s not expensive to get in and you can see the animals very closely. Lots of people think it’s not nice because they’re expecting the big cages…. But cages are cages. The animals look sad in so many zoos. Go and visit, you will help the owner to keep taking care of these beautiful animals. Most of the money used to manta in this place is from the owner and his love for the animals. Don’t let bad reviews fool you.
Estefania E — Google review
The staff was kind and the animals were healthy looking. There was a wide assortment of animals. Hippopotamus, giraffes, camels, lions, tigers and bears oh my! Cafeteria and a train if you don't feel like walking. You can feed the giraffes for $50 mxn (2carrots cut into 4).
Rebeca G — Google review
Honestly, the Zoo is poorly maintained and a lot of the animals are pacing in their cages and look very sick or skinny. They did not have elephants or rhinos. Entry is 100 pero child and 130 per adult. Children under 2 don’t pay and you have to pay 50 for the giraffes at the gate and per person.
Angel S — Google review
I really enjoyed this zoo. I suggest to put the tiggers and lions in bigger places. Looks like they need space. Same with bears

It is definitely not the best zoo, but it exceeded my expectations considering I've been to other zoos of cities of the same size as Queretaro and they do not compare to Wameru. It is a place to stay 2 hrs top, don't expect to spend a full day here and it is worth to say I was impressed by the animals found here (white Bengal tigers, 2 sets of lions, hippos, leopards... I was truly not expecting these type of animals here ). I attended the zoo on a Wednesday and we had the zoo to ourselves. Hopefully the zoo will grow and improve cages and overall habitats for the animals, as some of these seemed quite small. Definitely recommended for a morning with the kids.

This place needs a big time make over. The poor animals live in filth and dirt and their faces are just sad. It almost made me cry seeing them in these conditions. Please avoid this place until they show better living conditions for these living beings.

Money wise it's costly. we can see only few animals and birds. Small zoo and for babies recommended one.
