Memorial JK is a museum in Brasilia designed by Oscar Niemeyer, dedicated to the former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek. The memorial was inaugurated in 1981 and features a 28-meter statue of Juscelino, along with exhibits showcasing his life and legacy. Visitors can explore the Mortuary Chamber, where Juscelino's remains are housed, as well as personal objects and presidential memorabilia.
As part of an amazing weekend in Brasilia visiting friends who are teaching here, we toured the Memorial JK. Will confess I knew nothing about Juscelino Kubitschek and his role in developing Brasilia. The memorial is worth the time. I left in awe of his vision and inspired by his wife Sarah, who I have to say, was the perfect first lady and all-around badass. Take the time to wander through, look through his library and see if you can find the works of Shelley as well as Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The docents are knowledgeable and helpful and the memorial is laid out well and uses Portuguese, English and Braille to describe the exhibits. I left wanting to know more about these two iconic people who shaped modern-day Brazil, sometimes under dangerous circumstances. We visited on Sunday and admission was free but it would have been worth the 10 real!
Rivkah S — Google review
Among the bold landmarks that line Brasília’s Monumental Axis, the JK Memorial stands apart - not for its grandeur, but for its quiet pristine restraint. Low-slung, streamlined and earthbound, the mausoleum seems to melt into the landscape, as if trying to disappear. Only a single, slender columnar sculpture rises skyward, crowned by a modest statue of the late president. The highly experiential subterranean entranceway is a masterful stroke in design. If the architecture is meant to evoke reverence, reflection, and solemn nobility, then it succeeds with quiet brilliance - this points in no small way to the genius of the designer; Oscar Niemeyer. Surely one of the lesser-known works in Niemeyer’s grand oeuvre, yet no less arresting or profound. We arrived in the soft hush of early morning, short on reais for the entrance fee—but with a generous nod, they waved us in, our guide vowing to return later and settle the score. Inside, we were caught off guard by the near-darkness. The illumination was spare, almost reverent. As our eyes slowly adjusted, the exhibits began to emerge—quietly, deliberately. The life and legacy of Juscelino Kubitschek unfolded in carefully curated chapters: his childhood and family, his education and military formation, his path through medicine and, eventually, into the arena of politics. There was a quiet dignity to the presentation. No chest-thumping, no gaudy celebration—just a solemn, elegant tribute to a complex man and the nation he helped to shape.
Eddie C — Google review
Worth visiting both from outside and inside. Interestingly, this was the only monument/building that charge (low) entrance fee.
Pavel K — Google review
Nice place to understand Brasília 's history and how it was built. Well maintained and beautiful displays of Jucelino Kubitschek life as a medical doctor, Brazilian president and other activities.
Leandro B — Google review
A museum where you can learn more about the president and the other people who built Brasília and also about the city construction itself. There are several videos, presentations, photos, objects and even entire rooms full of history.

Nice place to learn about Brasilia and its history
Chandima K — Google review
If I could give it 6 stars I would. This is a cash only museum priced at R$ 10,00 at the time of writing this review. Inside you can see many original pieces of importance to Juscelino's Kubitschek history and Brasilia's history. Make sure you go early and well fed so you take your time inside. Precisely curated by his wife Sara, it even has his mortuary chamber. It's a must see if you are interested in inspiring personalities. #museum

Santuário São João Bosco is a unique church dedicated to the 19th-century Italian priest, with an interior defined by striking blue Murano glass windows and a grand chandelier. The building, located on the 15th parallel, was designed by architect Vasconcelos Naves and features tall pointed arches framing stained glass windows in various shades of blue.
I've visited a good share of churches, temples, and cathedrals across the globe, and this one made me whisper 'Oh Wow' when I entered. It is truly impressive. There is a crypt, gift store, and bathrooms downstairs - walk to the left of the pulpit and you will see the stairs.

One of the most beautiful churches I’ve visited (despite my photos, much more beautiful in person). Very calm, very peaceful, I’mnot catholic but felt at ease each time I visited.
M R — Google review
This is my second time coming to this iconic church in Brazil, here are the reasons why. 1. How much time do you need to see everything? I feel like this is a church you need to come to multiple times to take it all in. You could easily spend 5 hours here. We did the top deck and the level below it and that took us about 3 hours with my kids. 2. Where can I park? The parking lot next to the church had plenty of parking and was 20 dollars for 7 hours. We arrived around 9:35 in the morning on a Thursday. I would imagine that a weekend gets busy so if you plan to come to this place I would come at least a half hour before it opens which is 11am. 3. Is the church accessible? Yes, some of the spaces are accessible for people in wheelchairs. Other spaces are not just due to small spaces. 4. Is it expensive? A ticket is over 30 dollars, and I believe that children are the same. Some tickets may run out. So if you are a family prepare to spend a little over 100 to get in. You can buy tickets online as well and skip the line. 5. Is it worth it? Absolutely yes. It’s freaking awesome. The stained glass windows were Superb! 6. Can you take pictures? Yep. Snap a picture in a figure! There is so much I can say about this place, there is so much to explore and I would highly recommend checking it out once in your life, especially if you have no proximity to religiousness. It’s pretty cool to see this important component to our religion and history.

Cathedral
Church
The Cathedral of Brasília, designed by Niemeyer in 1970, is a modern Roman Catholic church that stands as one of the most impressive structures in Brazil's capital city. Situated between the ministries and downtown rodoviaria, it commemorates the inauguration of Brasília with its unique design resembling an inverted chalice and crown of thorns. The sunken nave creates an unusual layout where most of the interior floor is below ground level.
No trip to Brazil is complete without a stop in Brasília - and no visit to Brasília should skip the breathtaking Metropolitan Cathedral. It was a highlight of our private tour along the Monumental Axis (Eixo Monumental), the grand boulevard envisioned by Lúcio Costa, the brilliant urban planner behind the city’s master plan. Costa’s closest collaborator, the legendary Oscar Niemeyer, brought the vision to life with his bold, futuristic architecture. His signature can be seen in many of Brasília’s most iconic landmarks - the National Congress, the Palácio do Planalto, and most strikingly, the Metropolitan Cathedral itself. For a structure completed over half a century ago (1958–1970), the cathedral still feels astonishingly modern - ethereal, even. We first arrived during noon mass and couldn’t enter the main hall, but returned the following day to explore it fully. Wandering beneath its sweeping curves (an engineering marvel!), we discovered not only the celestial interior but also exhibits and quiet underground spaces like the baptistery. It was well worth the second visit - a timeless space that speaks in light, form and colour.
Eddie C — Google review
The cathedral is beautiful, but the people working there are so rude. For a Catholic place and "spiritual" place I'd expect people to be more polite. The guy was so rude to us and basically told us to leave if we were doing visitation cause the mass was going to start. He could have invited us to stay. I definitely would not be back, it's good enough to see it from outside. It's not worth it being mistreated just because of a church. When you've seen the Duomo and had amazing experience, the cathedral is just fine, by the way, I was raised in this town.
Lucy E — Google review
This was a cool experience. Sadly they were fixing a hole in the ceiling when we went so we didnt get to see the full room. There are homeless people begging upon entering but it does not ruin the vibes.
Kelly B — Google review
So very beautiful! I have visited many cathedrals and churches in many countries and this modern cathedral is one of the finest. Not normally a fan of modern architecture but in Brazil they break all the rules and the results are stunning! You cannot visit Brasilia without seeing this wonderful place of worship.
Stuart M — Google review
The Cathedral has a very unique architecture, I have never seen anything of that kind. It’s amazing both from inside and outside. It’s mostly underground with it’s dome showing outside above ground level. To take a good picture have your photographer stand at the entrance below whilst you stand on the top pillar over the doors and take an amazing shot with you and the entire cathedral behind. It’s closed on Carnival holidays also. Other attractions are in the vicinity of the Cathedral and it’s gardens and statues.
Anaman S — Google review
This cathedral is very beautiful both from the inside and outside. It is a modern construction that seems smaller from the outside but it’s gorgeous from the inside. There’s a replica of a Michelangelo’s Pietà which is quite beautiful. It’s worth visiting, even if you’re not religious.
Rodrigo G — Google review
It’s one of the symbol of Brasilia. It was designed by Oscar Niemeyer. We feel the light after you enter from entrance with dark. The inside stained glass is vivid colors. It was only transparent but after then, color stained glass was put on transplant one to avoid much hot. And also we can hear the voice from other side one through the wall. It’s very clear sound. When you visit here, you must try to do it.
Papipupenta — Google review
The Cathedral of Brasília is the Roman Catholic cathedral serving Brasília, Brazil, and serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Brasília. The cornerstone was laid on September 15, 1958, and the structure was finished on April 21, 1960, with only the roof structure visible above ground. This concrete-framed hyperboloid structure, appears with its glass roof to be reaching up, open, to heaven. Most of the cathedral is below ground, with only the 70-meter (230 ft) diameter 42-meter (138 ft) roof of the cathedral, the ovoid roof of the baptistry, and the bell tower visible above ground. The shape of the roof is based in a hyperboloid of revolution with asymmetric sections.

Located in Brasília, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil is a modern cultural center with a unique stilted design. It houses contemporary art galleries, a cinema, and a cafe. The city itself is known for its significance in Legal Tourism due to being the center of the nation's three powers. Visitors can explore this cultural hub which hosts various exhibitions, events, and concerts including the Cinema Festival and Japanese Festival.
I enjoyed two hours visiting just one of the temporary exhibitions at CCBB - Underdeveloped Art. The art and other items in the exhibition were really insightful into Brazilian social history, and they were displayed excellently. I felt immersed in the theme of the exhibition. English language translation was easily accessible through QR codes provided. The descriptions of the art and other items (poem, books, song) were very effective. Staff were friendly and helpful, and entre is FREE. Very grateful for a wonderful little visit. Wish I had time to see more 🙏🙏

***** Here’s What You Need to Know ***** From an American Tourist * The “Centro Cultural” is NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. * Went at 13:00 on an August Friday. * None, as in zip, zero, nil, of the 4 galleries were open. * Only the Pavilhão de Vidro (a small arboretum) and a floor of the bebedouras e banheiros building were open. * The latter had a very modest modern art exhibit apparently raided from the C suite of the Banco Do Brasil. * To view the afore-mentioned “Coleção de Arte Banco do Brasil,” you need to go to a kiosk in the center of the arc-shaped building and procure a free ticket that looks like a cash register receipt. ** At least parking is easy.
John K — Google review
It's for free but also pretty far off. The exhibitions are cute, no great art obviously. But it's an enjoyable trip and you can spend 1-2 pleasant hours here. The building itself and the garden is nice to look at. Don't expect too much, then youll have a good stay. The bistro is a little pricy.

It's the main place to visit cultural things here in Brasilia. It's huge and have several sections. Each of them with their own attractions. One of the best places is the green field at the back, where you can sit, relax and listen to live music while eating and talking to others.
Kleber S — Google review
A wonderful place of culture with lots to see. A relaxed atmosphere pervades and the cafe is first class. I liked the Mondrian house and it was interesting too see a wide variety of artistic works. There was also a shop which sold some attractive local handicrafts.

Bank of Brazil Cultural Center is a great place to visit. Their agenda, full of music concerts, picnics and art exhibits, among others, is a delight to the eyes, to the culture, and to everyone. The complaint I have about this place is its location: the CCBB building is too far to the poorest residents of Brasilia, which makes it a gentrified place at its core...
Luiz F — Google review
Free entrance! There is a door near the main road but it is small and hidden! it will save you time from going around

Parque Nacional de Brasília, covering 28,000 hectares in the northwest part of the city, is a 69,000-acre park that offers an array of indigenous plant and bird species. The park features two trails: the Capivara trail and the Cristal Agua trail.
A park inside Brazil's capital. Still miss some better wildlife viewing opportunities, and the access timing could be extended. However it present a very nice opportunity to appreciate the beauty of cerrado.

Huge national park (no dogs allowed) for trail walks or mountain biking, or just sunbathing and swimming in the spring water pool. Various official trails from 5-15km. It is just plain savanna so not much variety beyond sparse to dense vegetation - just endless savanna. Avoid the weekends as it gets packed. Mid-week and you hardly see a soul. The Torre de TV de Brasília, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, stands at 75 meters and offers panoramic views of the city. It is one of Brasilia's modernist structures and provides an excellent vantage point to appreciate the city's unique layout. Visitors can access the tower for free and enjoy stunning views of Plano Piloto, especially at night when the city lights are on. The tower also features a water fountain that adds to its charm.
It's one of those must visit sites if you find yourself in Brasília city which also happens to be the administrative capital of Brazil. There's an elevator that takes you to an equivalent of 25 floors(if I'm not mistaken) up in the air and from that viewpoint you have a 360⁰ view of the entire city. As the evening creeps in, it's a spectacle to behold the city with all It'slights and architectural design. The city is really well laid out and quite spacious too.

I was in Brasilia on Oct 30 2022 the day of the runoff presidential election between Lula and Bozo! I visited the TV tower which is a must see tourist site in BSB. The view from the top is simply amazing. Like most places in and around eixo monumental, the place is clean and plenty of security around. Don’t miss the big artisanal market down the steps from the TV tower! I found some great authentic souvenirs in the market.

The National Congress in Brasilia is a modern complex designed by the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. It houses Brazil's legislature and offers tours and exhibits for visitors. The building consists of a flat-based structure with two tall buildings, one for the Chamber of Deputies and the other for the Senate, featuring distinctive architectural elements. Guided tours provide insight into the political processes and allow visitors to observe congress sessions in progress, offering a unique glimpse into one of the world's largest democracies.
We attemded a free guided tour with a printed document in English to visit the most iconic parts of the building interior.

The tour is comprehensive and insightful. I just showed up with no information about the tour schedule, If they don't have the English tour, you can join the Portuguese. They will give you a printout in English to follow along. Several staff spoke English. Everyone was cordial and helpful.

Unfortunately I couldn't visit the building inside, so I walked around and took some pictures. The space is huge, and looks even bigger given the absence of trees in the front lawn. Hard to walk around during a sunny day, but worth seeing it.

The Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge, also known as the President Bridge or JK Bridge, is a remarkable architectural feat located in Brasilia, Brazil. Spanning Lake Paranoa, this bridge features three intertwined arches that support the roadway and stand at over 60 meters in height. Designed by architect Alexandre Chan as part of a project to revitalize the area and improve traffic congestion, it has become an iconic landmark in the city.
It is beautiful to look at this bridge from the city side. Not easy to find a parking at the bridge area, but if you do, little stalls by the water, hire a kiak boat from the Orla Club, grab an ice cream or Açaí, lots of restaurants also nearby. We didn't cross the bridge on foot this time. But worth doing it.
Renato L — Google review
Walked across around 3.30p in afternoon on a sunny day. Glad I had my umbrella, but others seemed find without one. The bridge felt secure and didn't rumble too much when trucks drove past. There are two shaded pitstops/areas at the midway point. Beautiful view. Enjoyed the experience.

Safe, well lit at night, enjoyable walks, boat tour and food. It’s a very nice board walk. We liked the “pirate” ship for a1 hour tour of the lake. It’s really nice and different from the other very plain ships. Highly recommend this. Area is great for strolling, lots of people on weekends.

Originally a family farmhouse, it has evolved into a vast buffet restaurant serving food by the kilo. Specializing in cuisine from Brazil's Northeast, Mangai offers an extensive buffet featuring dishes like carne de sol com nata and gororoba de camarao.
Really popular kilo restaurant. It’s setup like a big food hall. The decor inside is really nice. There’s a ton of food options in the buffet line. It moves quickly even when it’s super busy. ***** Here’s What You Need to Know ***** From an American Tourist * The entrance isn’t as well-marked as for the seafood restaurant to the right. There is an elevator on the left side and stairs further left. * You get a plastic card when you come in, one for each person. You will need it to exit. * You’re probably the only #Americans in the place. * On a Friday afternoon, it was empty at 12:00 and packed by 1:00. * Dramatic, high ceilings, you stay cool even on a hot day. * The place has a purposeful NE Brazil vibe. Think their cowboy country around Minas Gerais. * A real mixed clientele, suits at one table, tank tops and flip flops at another. * You pick a table AFTER getting your food. * You take a plate and go down either side of two very long cafeteria-style rows. I couldn’t figure out if they are one way or not. * There are small English translations of the Portuguese descriptions of the food items. “carne de sol” is “sun-dried beef.” Think shoe leather. However, you’re bound to find options you like. * Your plate is weighed and you are charged by the #kilo no matter if it’s #picanha or beans. * There are gaucho-themed servers who will take your drink orders at your table using the four-digit number on your card. Yes, they have Diet Coke. * You pay by tapping your cards on machines on the wall on the way out. Then you drop your cards in the slots at the exit turnstiles. * 2 of us got out for ~ $30 which included a #mojito and dessert. * I’m dead serious, you can nap in a hammock on your way out. * I’m glad we tried it. Nothing like it in the States. Not sure if I go back. Maybe try the seafood place next time.

Veeery expensive place, this restaurant has great food, great service, but a non welcoming atmosphere. It is totally ridiculous, not to say something else, about the service staff having to wear a "sertão" themed attire. You will almost exclusively see white people here, be aware.

The Torre de TV Digital, also known as the Digital TV Tower, is a striking telecommunications tower in Brasilia, Brazil. The tower's futuristic design offers a unique backdrop for inspired photoshoots and provides an opportunity to appreciate the architectural planning of Brasilia.
You can see the tower, and never find the time to get there. I recommend you do. The views are amazing. The Tower itself is well built and from a simple structure that will amaze you. Weekday visit meant we had the tower to ourselves. Extensive parking and not that expensive with discounts to elderly. Recommended

It features sports courts, artificial lakes, an amusement park, and an equestrian center. The park is popular among fitness enthusiasts due to its jogging and cycling tracks as well as various sports facilities. Additionally, it hosts cultural events throughout the year.
The place is huge and full of nature. It's great to spend time there at daytime or in the evening. Because there are so many trees there, you can go visit the place at midday and still find a confortable shadow under one of them. There are so many things you can do there. You can interact with people, you can be alone. You can attend to an event, you can make barbecue in one of their dedicated spots, you can celebrate your birthday. You can make your exercises, you can run or ride a bicycle... or you can just sit under a tree and read a book. You can spend a lot of time there because you have drinkable water and bathrooms available in several place. Also, you can eat and drink near the lake. If you have your kids with you, you can bring them to the theme park and spend all day there. This place worth the visit.

There is an amusement park on one side. Many tennis courts but you must bring your own net but there are often tennis pros there so you could arrange something. Beach volleyball. On weekends you can rent bicycles and there is a go-kart place. And probably much more that I missed. It really adds to the city.

While the service is excellent, the food to European tastes is not great. The meat is incredibly Salty. The exterior being encrusted with salt crystals. This was the second time trying Fogo de Chão and was exactly the same problem again. The salads are good and varied but the over use of salt made the meat not good and for the price there are many way better restaurants to choose from. Go elsewhere.
Ashley — Google review
Eat all you can, typical Brazilian red/green coaster system. While the meat and setting was great, the buffet salad selection was good but I expected wider selection for the price. Drinks expensive. They have a good cheaper option of choosing only specific meat cuts. Overall lovely experience but as we went on a weeknight place empty had to wait long for meat cuts to arrive and not all were available despite paying for the full range - hence the 4 stars

Excellent meats keep flowing as long as my disk tag is with green side up. The complemented salads were good also the house vino tinto was a match

V2.0 back two years later, this time at the new restaurant by Cotta Mill - words cannot describe the service, drinks or food delivered here. Everything is above 10/10. By far my favourite Churrascaria in the world and I’ve been to many. This time, we would personally like to thank Wellington. Cristiano and Felipe.

Palácio Itamaraty, also known as the Ministry of External Relations, is a remarkable building designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Completed in 1970, it features a striking architecture with symmetrical arches that stand above a reflecting pool and landscaped gardens by Roberto Burle Marx. This futuristic ministry building is part of Niemeyer's iconic works in Brasilia, along with other notable structures like Palácio do Planalto and Brasilia Cathedral.
Impressive and emblematic building, with very distinctive features in columns and surrounding water. The internal spaces are massive and the staircase presents a unique design. I strongly recommend a visit when in Brasilia

This is a great place, I can support a variety of people and lots and lots of it, they have a little place in the end for food, as well as a open space, lots of bathrooms and pretty organized
Viniinblue — Google review
It has a huge structure and with some vending machines for water, sodas and candies but the price is an absurd. It is very high and expensive and for some products are twice the price which is a total disrespect with the costumer. Many vending machines were out of order which I had to get in the long line and wait a lot. The closer parking lot is small and always crowded. There is a big one a little further. If you want to eat a meal, unfortunately you will have to walk like a kilometer or more to reach the malls and then another kilometer to head back. If you can take food and drinkable stuff to any event at the convention center do it because it will spare you a lot of money and a lot of time looking for something to eat and drink. The seats are comfortable and spacious and there is even a small assembled table-like for each seat so you can place food, laptops or anything you prefer. Toilets, there are plenty too well placed all over the convention center.

Stephan S — Google review

Sina K — Google review
A great missed opportunity. It virtually contains nothing. Apparently the curator either is nonexistent or totally idiotic. With over three quarters of million indigenous peoples in Brazil this empty space sets the tone of what both the government and the academy cares about them. Not even a list/map of the different ethnic groups is there. At the same time of visiting it the Tapajos and Aware Muybu were demonstrating in the capital for their rights to keep their sacred lands whilst no mention to any current issues is discussed in one of the barely 5 panels inside the 'museum'. On the architectural side is not a special highlight, although it is interesting in that it is concealing a big outdoor space where cultural demonstrations can be held.

It's easy to get there from the center! There are bus stops that go near it (5 minutes). It is a 20 min walk once you get in, and then there are like 5 or 6 main spots (gardens). See the map attached! Lots of washrooms and cold water to refill your bottle! Great for kids (playground). There are also trails that can be used by bikes.

I love Brasília Bontanical Garden. Great place to walk and appreciate nature or have a picnic. Usually full in the weekends. There are lots of flowers and different varieties of tropical plants. If you love nature, you should visit. There are few restaurants and cafe's in the area. There is also areas for kids to play. Highly recommend!

Possibly the best botanical garden in the world. More like a nature reserve. 2 restaurants and a cafe. Plenty of water refill spots in the main area. Many hiking trails.

Great outdoor space for a picnic! Loved that they had lots of food options! Cons: you’ve gotta reserve beforehand or else you’ll never find a place for sitting! Don’t be late! And do bring money (5bucks) each person to enter the garden by car.

Arena BRB Mané Garrincha is a modern and eco-friendly stadium located in Brasilia, Brazil. Despite its somewhat outdated exterior, the stadium stands as a remarkable landmark of modern architecture. While it hosts football matches and concerts, it sees fewer games due to the teams playing at lower leagues. The stadium is part of the Poliesportivo Ayrton Senna Complex and has a capacity of 72,788.
Arena is very impressive Big and you can see properly any single match or concert from every seats I really like it

The other difference between the two worlds - Orwell's and the one created here by director and co-writer Terry Gilliam - is that Gilliam apparently has had no financial restraints. Although "Brazil" has had a checkered history since it was made (for a long time, Universal Pictures seemed unwilling to release it), there was a lot of money available to make it. The movie is awash in elaborate special effects, sensational sets, apocalyptic scenes of destruction and a general lack of discipline. It's as if Gilliam sat down and wrote out all of his fantasies, heedless of production difficulties, and then they were filmed - this time, heedless of sense. The movie is very hard to follow. I have seen it twice, and am still not sure exactly who all the characters are, or how they fit. Perhaps it is not supposed to be clear; perhaps the movie's air of confusion is part of its paranoid vision. There are individual moments that create sharp images (shock troops drilling through a ceiling, De Niro wrestling with the almost obscene wiring and tubing inside a wall, the movie's obsession with bizarre duct work), but there seems to be no sure hand at the controls. The best scene in the movie is one of the simplest, as Sam moves into half an office and finds himself engaged in a tug-of-war over his desk with the man through the wall. I was reminded of a Chaplin film, "Modern Times," and reminded, too, that in Chaplin economy and simplicity were virtues, not the enemy.

Big stadium but pretty easy to navigate. Beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately it is not very well-kept inside. There was red dust over almost every surface in the stadium. The field looked good but concessions bathrooms and almost everything else in the stadium was pretty Spartan. Functional but not very nice

An ecumenical place of meditation and serenity. Free entry. They're quick to ask you to remove shoes if participate in the circular crystal ritual or go to the meditation room, but I saw several visitors with blue shoe booties covering their shoes, so that appears to be an option. There are 2 gift shops/stands, some artwork, a section about the founder, and a cafe on site that sells a delicious chicken salad sandwich. Staff is bilingual to communicate with several languages.

This place is worth visiting for the experience. It's a friendly cult that combines--from what I understood--Jesus and crystal worship. The architecture of the space is cool and they have an interesting burial plot for the founder of the cult. Be sure to wear pants when visiting (or they will provide you with pants in order to enter the premises).

Zoológico de Brasília, also known as Brasilia Zoo, has been open since 1957 and is home to over 800 animals from 185 different species. The zoo covers a vast area of 139.75 hectares and offers various attractions such as the Natural Sciences Museum, a Butterfly Zoo, picnic areas, camping grounds, playgrounds, artificial lakes, and snack bars. Visitors can enjoy observing a variety of birds, monkeys, capybaras roaming freely around the zoo.
Fantastic value fantastic adventure! They have dine a great job creating a relaxed and open setting to explore and discover all the animals they have. A bonus is the zoo is a great place for a birthday party or picnic. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. 🐒
OilIntel — Google review
1. OVERVIEW Gather those ankle-biters, grab your sunscreen, and prepare for a day of wild family fun! We hit up the Brasília Zoo last week, and let me just say—it’s a zoo and then some. If you’ve got a crew that loves animals (or just needs a place to run around outside), this is the spot. 2. STAR ATTRACTIONS • Hippos: The kiddos were hippo-tized by these gentle giants. • Rhino: Big, loud, and practically prehistoric—the showstopper in my book. • Capybara: Like a giant hamster that doubles as an ottoman—my kids couldn’t stop fawning over these chill creatures! 3. PLAYGROUND PERFECTION When your mini-explorers get tired of pointing at hippos, there are playgrounds galore. Slides, swings, climbing structures—you name it. My brood burned off enough energy to almost sleep in the car ride home (hey, a dad can dream, right?). 4. FOOD FIASCO Full transparency, folks: the restaurant needs a little TLC. Hot dogs came out deep freeze style, though the buns were baked to golden perfection (#irony). Pizza was the saving grace for my hungry kiddos, but if you’re anything like me and want to avoid the Frozen Dog Debacle of 2025, bring your own sandwiches, snacks, or order items that don’t require a major thaw. 5. PJ DAD’S PRO TIPS • Pack a Picnic: The zoo is fantastic, but the restaurant can be hit or miss. A cooler of sandwiches will go a long way. • Stroller & Sunscreen: It’s a big place, so come ready to walk. You won’t regret hauling that stroller if you’ve got little ones. • Sister-Special Recommendation: If your sister’s visiting and she’s anything like mine—i.e., loves a good stroll with scenic views—bring her here for a guaranteed day of walking wonders. 6. FINAL TAKE Would I do it again? Ab-so-lutely. Brasília Zoo gets two giraffe necks way up in my Dad Books for overall fun. Next time, though, I’m definitely bringing a lunch for the family and maybe a spare lunch for that moment Dad inevitably misplaces the first one. If you’re looking to let the kiddos go bananas while soaking up local wildlife, add the Brasília Zoo to your must-do list—just watch out for those frozen hot dogs. PJ Dad out!
Phil J — Google review
Great fun for the whole family. It’s affordable with very cheap tickets and reasonable prices for snacks inside. If you drive around the zoo, plan for at least one hour. Walking is ok with little ones but plan for 3 to 4 hours for a visit. Lots of places in the shade to rest.
Andre — Google review
It covers a large area, you can enter with your car or on foot, on a Sunday we git free tickets and walked there. If you have toddlers, you better bring strollers and food for them. It is tiring and there is mo real food available inside. The animals are not so intimating to visit, it definitely has the capacity to improve a lot! You can easily get uber at the entrance. There is no transportation facility inside to avail in case if needed.
Arbab N — Google review
Excellent zoo, well worth a visit. Lots of walking but plenty to see and enjoy. Some exhibits not available to see but that will happen anywhere. Looking forward to returning when I am back in Brasilia.
Stuart M — Google review
It is not hard to spend a complete afternoon there. And bring sun protector, otherwise your face may become as red as the ass of the monkeys there! Muito bom para amantes de tartarugas.
Victor A — Google review
A very nice place to visit and take the kids. They have various different animals from both Brazil and overseas. Just do not forget to bring some water for you.
Rodrigo G — Google review
You would expect more from the zoo in the middle of such a big country, but alas. Lacks lots of animals, Lions for instance, only one kind of bear etc. But anyway it's a nice place to go on weekends, especially if you are with kids

When there is a hot weekend, many people visit it, since everyone goes there to enjoy the day. The place is sensational, too beautiful you can also bring swimsuits to cool off in the lake, it transmits great peace, the seating space is also nice to enjoy the sunset or if you prefer to swim or go all the trails to go hiking within the place, really worth it.

I am looking for a spiritual home-base community--a sanga. I was filled with enthusiasm about this community. However, the first ritual I attended, not one person went out of their way to say hi after the Sunday service. I introduced myself to a few people. The conversations were bland and the warmth I seek was just not there. Seems like they are a non-porous group who are not that interested in new people.
