We went here for a lovely end to the day during a birthday celebration for my husband - 30 years! It was so inspiring and beautiful. Everyone there was in awe of the cloud and the view created by the Almighty! The birds are singing, and there was a crowd of interesting black birds with red spots in their necks. It feels like nature can rest here! And we can, too. If you are looking for a peaceful addition to your date or family outing, look no further!

However the only thing missing is there are no food stalls. So plan to bring drinking water and snacks to enjoy with the view! There are public restrooms but those are not too clean either. Overall a little inconvenient but the views definitely make up for it!

I guess it's usually a decent sized park area, but right now they have reduced access due to an outbreak of yellow fever at the end of 2017. The area which is still accessible is well kept and there are several sports areas, a skate park and a playground. We even saw some wildlife, which was obviously attracted by a possible opportunity to get fed by the tourists. A star deducted because the guard wouldn't let me use my little drone.

Lack of information, few useful signs. There was a sign pointing to "information" at the gate but could find no information office. No map of the park at the entrance. There is a cobbled road leading up the hill from the main gate. There are maps alongside the road indicating a 5km route but after less than 2km there is a closed gate. There was a member of park staff there, she said it had been closed for 2 years but did not seem to know why. Perhaps they might amend their signage. There is a trail through the trees that leaves from the far side of the entrance behind the furthest stalls. The final part is steeper than the road. It joins the road about halfway up. There is a mirante near the end of the road, it has a great view of the forest and the city below. There is a park bus that runs up to the top of the road from the park entrance. No signage but seemed to go up a down about every half hour or so. Got some coconut water from a stall. It was in a container as they said coconuts were not allowed in the park (!). Tasted weird, threw most away but now have bad stomach. Despite all the gripes (park authorities could easily make it better for visitors) the walk up the hill through the trees was pleasant and the view from the top was great.

I went to my first football game here and it was amazing. I didn’t even like football (scoccer) before and now I’m addicted. The energy from the Cruzeiro fans is amazing. Never seen it heard anything like it in my life. I just have one problem. The VIP section isn’t that great. I paid R 750 for premium seats ( Hall Principal 203 VIP) and it didn’t come with food or drinks. One the website it said it would. I was pretty upset at first but honestly the game was so good I forget about it after an hour.

Beautiful construction and wonderful location overlooking the lake. The museum is also a good starting point to take a walk along the lake river. There are several animals that you can spot walking in the small garden of the museum. No WiFi available.

Magestic building thanks to genius Oscar Niemeyer, although the exhibit wasn't that interesting and it is quite small. Hard to get there if you are not driving there. They could do something more interesting with the cafeteria, since it was empty and I was really looking for a soda...

The modern museum is part of Pampulha's architectural complex and one more exemple of Oscar Niemeyer 'avant garde' work. Its gardens by the lagoon and the view deserve pictures. Look for informations about the project Domingo no Museu (Sunday at the Museum) and you'll have your best sunday morning in BH. The first sunday of each month the museum has a concert at the big saloon, always with eclectical artists that play the true brazilian music.

Nice place to go for a walk/cycle in BH. There are a few nice places to stop. The lake is 18Km.. There aren't many places to eat or get snacks, so if you want to eat, bring a picnic.

The inside it's stunning. They have a cafe so it's pretty convenient. At the left side of the entrance there's a gift shop with really cool things, including raw minerals, necklaces, pendants, and everything you could think of. Good assistance.

A fabulous museum for minerals. The collection is amazing and is totally free to visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The museum is neat and clean. I visited here on Friday and there were less people in the building . The museum consists of 3 floors and top 2 floors are stunning with the exhibits. This is a house for every geologist.

An amazing church that has been recently refurbished to its glory. The details from ceiling to the floor are incredible. The main altar shows colourful angels and other holy images on the wall makes the white stature of St Joseph to stands out in front of the mural. A place to rest, pray, admire and relax your mind, no matter your religion.

Built in a "Bizantine Style", St Joseph church is quite unique. This is so because the majority of churches in Minas Gerais are either in a baroque, neo-classic or neo-gothic style. What a pleasure it was to return to Belo Horizonte and visit St Joseph Church (Igreja São José). The restoration work that was carried out in the past few years is of excellent quality, so the result is quite stunning. It doesn't matter if you are not catholic, or a religious person, the beauty, the ambience will take you into another sphere - peace, contentment and a feeling of brotherhood/sisterhood with Humanity.

They spend a lot of peak time closed! I've been here three times and they were closed all three times. The Bank of Brazil Culture Center just around the corner has much friendlier hours! The 3 times I've tried here has been after leaving the other museum. From this thing on the door, It's near impossible to know when they're open. Great green space in Belo Horizonte. A bit under utilized at the moment as most of the offerings were closed and some spaces like the medicinal garden were in poor condition. However, it's great if you are wanting a bit of walk or even run in nature within the city limits. Perhaps even bring a book and read under the trees. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week and only encountered the people working in the park.

Nice park. I have visited this park several times for running from the hotel. The park presents some good uphills and downhills, several lakes and public bathrooms. Many shops, a grocery and alot of restaurants. Glad my hotel was near this as I was able to change money, buy some bottled water, and walk around. Super confusing layout that's like maze at first.

Good shopping mall with a good variety of stores. For food, you won’t find you typical like McDonalds or Burger King, but you might want something else. They do have an Outback Steakhouse on site and the servers there were top notch. My favorite part of the mall was on the third floor. They have a space for families where you can take your child to a kid size bathroom, they have changing stations, you can refill your water bottle, and there are some games for children. This was a lifesaver traveling with young children.

In general it's very comfortable, clean and fairly peaceful for a mall. The movie theater has some amazing audio quality but no IMAX. Whether you're stopping by for lunch of looking for a quick snack there aren't many fast food options but the ones available are pretty good. Don't forget to check out the main bookstore especially if you're a comics fan.

Overall, I have really mixed feelings about this place. The surrounding landscape and neighborhood feels really nice and could potentially afford a high quality of life. The church itself looks good and its architectural relevance for Brazil has been pointed out by many people. So if I were to evaluated this place just on that basis, it would be a 5/5. That said, as this is part of a UNESCO world heritage ensemble, the standards have to be higher than just being a nice building with some history. It has to have relevance to the world. And if you compare this church to many of the amazing churches in Europe, or many of the other amazing world heritage sites, it is massively underwhelming. As some people are traveling the world to see monuments of great significance, one can only warn them that they should likely not plan a trip to Belo Horizonte (or Brazil) just for this sight. If you are in the area anyways, sure, it’s worth to check out but I would not recommend to go out of your way to visit it. On the plus side, lots of public street parking was available— which is a rare feat for many UNESCO world heritage sites.

Here there is an interior terrace shared by two cafes/ restaurants, with very nice ambiance; the prices are a bit too high, so it is not for the backpacker, but it is nice to have a different experience. Not clear information to get the cards to use in the park. They must add the exactly info outside the park or in the entrance , before paying the entrance park tickets.

Small but nice fun fair at Belo Horizonte. Ideal for children until 12 years old.

A good place to have fun with the entire family. There is a variety of different rides to satisfy everyone. Magnificent view from the Ferris wheel, worth every cent. Reminded me of my childhood. The local restaurant offers a decent variety of food, I recommend goning easy on the food and alcohol if you pretend adventuring on the more radical rides.

Premises look very unkept, although there was so many staff members as well as security and even army people present. Zoo animals are in very good condition. Botanical is non existing and embarrassing as so many gardeners around and it was dry and terribly neglected. The lion alone is worth a visit he loves to chat. Snakes are amazing in size and great variety of snakes, also well kept. Entrance of Zoo from the road is enough to scare you away! The premises are very big be prepared to walk a lot.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with this zoo. There are some parts that look nice but some parts are clearly not well kept. The botanical garden looks pretty much abandoned. Most of the animals are hiding, I could even see the gorillas. The bathrooms are disgusting. I will admit that the price to enter is insanely cheap though.

The place appears neglected. Many of the attractions aren't available. Some animals appear to be sick

Lovely animals from South America,specially the birds. The Gorillas are impressive. Bring repellant on summer months. They should raise the prices to improve maintenance. Too cheap. £5.10 for 2 adults and three children. £45 at London Zoo.

Great park, plenty of animals to see. An excellent place to spend an entire day with the family or friends. Easy access by bus or car.

After getting a car to reach the place, we found all the attractions close because those areas are now restricted to the public. We ended the afternoon walking along the perimeter and seeing nothing that interesting.

Came here with my cousin and his friends while visiting from USA. Although the lake needs environmental attention, the vibes were great. Recommend checking out if you like nature

Great for easy cycling. It has some easy trail and pathway with some loose gravel. A great place for cyclist of all ages.

Just to get out with the kids it was ok but seems like it was built in the 80s and never changed anything.

Very cool place to visit if you are in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. It is a good way to travel back in time and also to get to know some of the prehistoric species that used to live in the south American region and Brazil. It's a nice place to bring young kids and people interested in museums. Totally recommend it!

I give it 2 stars due to the fact it is 3 stories high. The lack of information in all of their exhibits is uncanny, as if all of us are anthropologists or biologists. Come prepared with your biology books, unless you were looking for a place to take pictures of replicas. Also, bring a flashlight just in case the lights go out as it did in my case, seems that the generators are only for emergency lights only.

Incredible collection of brazilian exotic animals by Peter Lund, a naturalist from Denmark. Replics of elephants, dynosaurs, a lot of butterfly, a real whale and others non brazilian. Great place to visit with family and friends. Nice price per person (local money).

Good for kids on vacation. The staff is very good with kids. The skeletons and fossils are awe-inspiring.

There are some good lookouts to Belo Horizonte and a trail.

I went there today. Most of the trail is closed but it is still a really nice place. I still managed to get in the level two three and four. the views where amazing. You can see the all city but also see the nature on the other side and the old mines holes

Beautiful view from a nicely maintained (steep) hiking trail. Very tranquil, no city noise only nice views and a good climb.

Amazing place to visit and go for a light hike.

Climbing the hill through the alternative route might be challenging if you are not young or healthy. The view is great and you can see lots of different birds.

One of the best views of the city and surrounding mountains. If you are into nice views and some easy trekking this is a must visit. The park has 3 easily accessible view points and others that often require guidance to reach (tough it is quite easy to get to them). If you go, make sure to get there real early (7-8am) so you get the awesome breeze. Totally recommend the place.
