The staff at every level are friendly and accomodating. The location has a pool and sunning area. Small gym, play area and a restaurant. The room was very spacious with big windows to open to let air through. It had a separate living and sleeping space. A balcony with seating. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach. Plenty of good spots to eat very close by including a burger restaurant next door. The down sides. The wifi is very bad and basically doesn’t work. The water pressure in the shower is super low and they have put a rain shower head on making it worse. The price for the accomodation is a bit high.

I brought my family for the first time to my home country, and the experience here was terrible. The staff was adversarial without a reason, and when asked for help to find a better place for someone with mobility problems (elder) they refused to help with the cancelation and said they did not know of any other hotel around. It does not take much to be reasonable. If you have family, do not go there. They have an attitude as this was the Ritz Carlton but without the service you get anywhere else.

We were offered a “suite” for CLP 100k. I didn’t expect the Ritz but this was very very poor value for money. The living room only had an old worn out sofa and a very old tile floor. The king size bed was 2 mattresses so we basically spent the whole night in a ditch.

I stayed Saturday night to Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant is quite good and the wine list has a few gems. Service is great. Rooms are tired, mattress too soft. But I was in #606 with a lovely ocean view from the bedroom and entry/desk room. Close to the lighthouse monument. There is a swimming pool between the reception/restaurant building and the 7-story lodgings. I never saw anyone in the pool, but it was late October and temps were low 50s to high 60s.

Exceptional location with great view, however, be prepared for a bellow average service, although the reception works in a fair standard, breakfast and restaurant will request an extra patience as they run with a slow pace, unpleasant faces and a great disregard for guests.

There are stains on the bed and a very low spot from age. A few other unusual things if note: a window from the shower to the bedroom. A door making a closed entry separate from the bedroom and bathroom. No door on the closet, but a locked door in back of the closet, very strange. Everything else was very nice and I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel has a great location across from the beach. It has a nice pool area. There are a few restaurants nearby. Our room was a clean, comfortable suite with an ocean view (4th floor). It was very spacious. The staff was excellent. My only complaints are: 1) no hand towels were provided, but an extra towel was given if requested each day 2) no pool towels 3) no ice machine (this may not be a common amenity in S. America though...)

You have to request for one and took more than an hour to actually get it... Partly obstructed sea view room is as not as bad. Still get a good view if you have the end room.

This hotel is trying to look posh but failing miserably. Rooms get really hot and you only get a small column fan. My room was facing the street and you could hear everything loudly, hard to sleep. Shower didnt drain for a while. Worst was they dont lend iron (1st time i ever experienced this) and they massively overcharged me per item. A staff member admitted they did it on purpose! Limited options at breakfast. One waiter was rude, as well as the male recepcionist on Sunday. Only good point is very close to city centre if needed.

When I stayed there, I was pleasantly surprised, sure the building is getting older but rooms are huge, nicely furnished, hot water in the shower, big comfortable bed, and an in-house restaurant and bar, they are well located next to the Japanese Gardens and the downtown area (plaza de armas)... What more could you ask for? I can't speak about the prices because the company I was visiting picked up the tab but I can certainly recommend them for any business traveler.

Our brief stay at Hostal El Punto was very enjoyable. It is a short walk to the bus terminal, town square and japanese garden. The bathroom was clean and the bed was decent. The service was great and the building felt very secure. We were able to store our luggage once reception opened at 8am and also switch our breakfast option for our arrival day since we were hungry and leaving very early in the morning our check-out day. Breakfast was a large spread. This isn't a party hostel and was calm.

Okay this is a place, which you like and can't not like but a true backpackers hostel it is not. The atmosphere is not there a bit too tidy a bit too organised. The outside common areas are really beautiful our room was spartan and lacked interior design but clean, sheets clean floor clean. But no atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and clean, there was a mini fridge in ours with drinks for purchase, and others have small kitchenettes. The outlets are 220 volts and use euro plugs, so be sure your devices are world voltage compatible and bring adapters if necessary. Overall a good place to stay, great location and reasonably priced. Overall I'd recommend it and would definitely return!

I had high expectations for Terra Diaguita based on the website and reviews, but I was still unprepared for what a lovely experience my stay was. The beds, showers and ammenities were excellent but it was the friendly, and incredibly accommodating staff that set this place apart. I cannot recommend staying here enough, and I hope to be back one day.

The room is modern with a comfortable bed. The only thing I will say is that the shower does not maintain a good temperature and does not have a good heavy pressure. We stayed in the double queen room with the private bathroom. It's right next to the cafeteria so there might be a bit less privacy but the room itself is beautiful and very spacious. The staff were wonderful and I would definitely stay again when visiting la Serena. The only thing is if you pay on a card you will have to pay the 19% VAT.

Beautiful hotel with clean rooms, great breakfast and very helpful staff. A few caveats...parking is available but not free and in a secure lot across the street. They essentially require payment in cash...if using credit they will add on 19% tax. Aside from a small portable space heater, the rooms are unheated, though there is a very nice electric blanket on the bed. The cold didn't bother me much, but if you come in the winter and tend to run cold, be forewarned.

Stayed here 2 times. First time was splendid, other than the check in process. I stayed in the 4 bed dorm. The bathroom outside of it is the size of a closet. Breakfast was outstanding! Full service. The 2nd time I stayed in the 8 bed dorm. Poor choice. It was crowded, and it stunk, along with the accompanying bathroom. Breakfast wasn't as good either. It was late, and no eggs.

I booked and paid for a bed for 4 nights. After the 1st night the staff had a miscommunication and told me I needed to pack up and leave. I was able to explain that I had already paid, but the staff member called her boss and it was an unnecessarily eventful experience. Then after my third night, I came back to the hostal around 3 or 4 and was told that they double booked my bed and that I needed to leave. They refunded me for the fourth night, but I still found myself walking 20 minutes through town to a new hostal when all I really wanted was some rest. I was also told half-way through my stay that I owed more money. I questioned why this would be since I had paid in full upon arrival. I was never given an answer that made sense (translation issues). I left without paying this "extra" after the double booking issue. I should mention that this place is charming, in a great location, and is overall clean and satisfactory, but they need to figure out their booking situation because it was really frustrating.

TIPS: The upstairs bath is the nicest. Consider staying in Vicuña for a night or two -- very charming, easy access to Pisco, and heaps of deep space observatories with telescopes (Pangue is the best). CON: They only accept cash, and charge foreigners a 20% tax unless you pay in USD

Generally good value for money as long as you do manage to check in. The check-in process appears weird to me. They are only there till 17:30, otherwise you need instructions. However there is no response when you try to contact them. Luckily the lady was still there when I arrived. Aside from that it’s overall okay. Facilities are clean and sufficient. Breakfast is a nice touch. Bathrooms are a little small. The work-force appeared to be one lady only, having to do everything by herself.

Not a factory style hostel; much smaller and more like a house. This means the bathroom is one room with a toilet and shower. Bathroom available wasn’t an issue though, as was my concern. It somehow all worked out fine! There are not lockers or safes, but felt very secure and cooperative environment. We were able to leave our luggage after checkout for a little while too. It was clean and cozy. My suggestion for them would be to get heavier duty mattress protectors and pillow protectors so that it stays this clean with many guests enjoying the space.

Good location, close to lots of nice restaurants, beds were comfy and the outside area was lovely. However, the check in time was strange (3-3:30, so text if you’re going to be later), there was also no one there when we left so we just put the key on the desk. They also made us overpay as foreigners don’t pay tax, but this was included in the final price. No card machine, cash only with no change. We’re now in a private room at Aji Verde and paying less than we did for a dorm at El Arbol. We also met a girl who had booked a dorm and was put in a private room and told she had to pay for it - we left before we heard what the outcome was.

We asked them if they would secure them and they said yes, but the luggage carts were still in the lobby when we came back 10 hours later.

The room was extremely unclean. Floor carpet was full of black stains. Furniture was dirty and I had to clean all surfaces before putting my stuff on it. There was some hairs on the floor and in the shower. The window from balcony could not close properly so I had all noise and wind from the sea front. Overall, I was disgusted with the room condition. It could be a nice holiday hotel if you don't mind about cleanliness, but for 200$ a night that I paid (february 23rd 2025) I would never recommend this hotel unless someone wants to be in first line of beach and have a Casino. I spent 3 days in this place. The location is few meters from a nice beach. The staff is welcoming and professional. The included breakfast is good. But the furnitures and the buildings require a serious update.

Our stay at Apart Hotel & Cabanas Vegasur was terrible from start to finish. First they tried to make us (Europeans) pay for the VAT for lodging, then it took forever to finalize the registration. Terrible hostel! They have BED BUGS and when we told them about them, the hostel owner just laughed at us and said ”everybody has them and they won’t bite you”. The worst customer service we’ve had in 6 months in South America. They didn’t even refund all of our money, but took 10% for theirself and we didn’t even get to sleep there for a night. Every hostel we’ve seen or had bed bugs have fully refunded our stay with no problems. The room was next to the street which people use as a toilet and a fish market next to the hostel. The room smells so bad. The kitchen is tiny. Too small for more than 2 persons and the kitchen equipment are in horrible shape. The pans will probably give you cancer if you use them. Kids running and shouting all the time. Not a place to relax. Do yourself a favor and dont ruin your vacation. Go somewhere else. Just 100m away there is a super nice hostel that treats the customers like they should and is super clean and nice.
