Marina
Port Moselle Harbour, located in the Quartier Latin of Noumea, is home to a vibrant marketplace known as Port Moselle Market. The market features covered stalls offering an abundance of fresh produce and seafood, including over 100 varieties of yams and a dedicated section for seafood. The market's distinctive blue-tiled pavilions house a wide range of goods, from local handicrafts to fresh foods, creating a colorful and aromatic atmosphere.
Huge marina of Noumea and most beautiful in my opinion. You can take a promenade along the water admiring views ! There are few place to stop and have a snack or a drink along the promenade. This is also a place where you can take a boat to other islands and get on a chu-chu train. Marina is surprisingly clean and water is so clean so you can see all sorts of fish and sea sneaks. Check out my videos. Its like a free aquarium for you !

Reasonable Prices, super friendly Staff, good sanitary facilities, directly at the excellent fresh fish, meat, fruit and veggie market. If you need a mechanic ask for Johann, best in the Pacific so far and we had a lot of engine problems. Highly recommended.
Raoul S — Google review
from this port we went on a day trip to the island where the doubletree hilton hotel is located for half a day. unfortunately we did not have good weather and so the cruises that day did not exist. all cruises depart from this port. while we were waiting at the port we visited the market there. with fresh fruits, vegetables, etc. it closes early of course until about 2 in the afternoon they have been picked
KATERINA L — Google review
Visited the municipal market. Interesting food and veg markets. Had good coffee and pastry options.

Beautiful and busy port!

The flea market was good, but because it is Sunday, the town itself is basically closed down.

I'm not sure what sorry of review Google expects for this place from me... The place is clean, there are some ship, yachts and boats. You can take a boat there to L’ESCAPADE ILOT MAITRE and i believe to some other islands or just a cruise around Noumea. There's a parking lot next to the harbour. I hope it was helpful 😊
Artem — Google review
Love it here. Real atmosphere at the bars and cafes. Shops are close by, small walk. Lots of food to choose from. Great view to the entrance of the harbour. Museum close by and bus centre.

The Tjibaou Cultural Centre, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, is a remarkable tribute to Kanak culture and heritage. The center's striking design features ten towering structures made of steel and timber, reminiscent of traditional Kanak huts. Located in a picturesque bayside forest setting, the center offers insights into Kanak culture through its museum, concert hall, and various exhibitions.
Important and interesting cultural landmark of New Caledonia. Explains rich history and culture of local Kanak peoples in beautiful Renzo Piano-designed architecture. Worth visiting to understand this archipelago more profoundly.
Dan T — Google review
Visit here totally surpassed my expectations! I had thought there might be a small visitor centre with a few exhibits and we called in on route to the Blue Lakes. However, it was well worth the one hour visit. Extremely culturally sensitive exhibits, impressive architecture, and beautiful surrounding walks. Highly recommend.
Valerie C — Google review
It was an interesting place to learn about the original inhabitants of Noumea, the Kanaks. We were immersed in their culture and way of life. Their respect and love to nature and how it reflects in their daily lives. It was a pleasurable walk and visiting the traditional houses was great. We saw how they are great architects and the functionality of the houses and its role in the community. It’s definitely worth a visit!
David L — Google review
I wish I could have a guide to get more context around the place. The centre was fascinating however videos were super interesting but far too long to take the appropriate time to look at them. A fabulous history with an enjoyable touch of art
Sonia B — Google review
If you have a couple of hours spare in Noumea, it's worth visiting the cultural centre, only 15min drive, cost 2000CXP. Don't miss the last guided tour at 2pm or walk on your own though most information in French, they have free wifi so you can always translate. Great sunset view as well.
Sally C — Google review
Saw the location on the map and decided to make the drive up there as no bus service is available. We were told it takes about 2 hours to view everything and that the ticket would allow us to come back and forth all day if we wished. Some installations were open to view, with limited English explanations, most in French (they do have signs up recommending using Google translate) so wifi and internet is needed. But lots of empty or locked areas that seemed a waste considering the size of the place. Maybe we were there at the wrong time of year, but it was a bit disappointing. No cafe for food and drinks, only vending machines with coke and coffee.
Caddie T — Google review
Tjibaou Cultural Centre is good to learn about Kanak heritage and modern island art.
Rachel — Google review
Disappointing: insufficient displays offer English translations, considering that this is a premier destination for overseas tourists. The sign offering free internet and translations appeared in one place only, and we only saw it after we had attended every exhibition. The cafe and gift shop were closed (it was Saturday). Also, there wasn’t actually that much info about Kanak traditional life eg food acquisition, production and trade; social and family structures and life; village and inter-tribal politics and customs; history of migration; music, not even in French. Good exhibition of carved wooden poles, and a lovely walk through the gardens with adequate information about spiritual beliefs and practices. Perhaps this place isn’t really intended for foreign visitors after all, but a centre for local traditional owners to gather and practice traditional arts and crafts in workshops and residency projects.

Island
Nature & Parks
Located in New Caledonia, île aux Canards is a protected island known for its beautiful beaches and marine reserve. The island offers a touristy atmosphere with the opportunity to lounge in luxury by renting an umbrella and deck chair set. The peak snorkeling time is during high tide, which brings the most notable wildlife sightings at various sites on the reef marked by white buoys. Visitors can take a water taxi from Anse Vata beach to access the snorkel trail.
Beautiful island. full of corals and fishes. Great place for snorkeling. We used the glass boat to get there and it's quite close to the shore. It is also fun to walk around the small island. We had such a great time there.
Carolina M — Google review
On tour with cruise ship, nice day trip. Pretty island, fair snorkeling- saw turtles, many fish. Nice to relax away from ship. Best to take your own snacks. Take water-shoes as beach quite corally.
Lissa I — Google review
After reading all the reviews online for Duck Island, we decided to spend a couple hours on Duck Island, If you want to enjoy the good side of the Beach you will have to pay for Beach chairs (as all the reviews advise they are expensive) unfortunately, they do have the nest side of the Island where they clear the beach from all the Coral and rocks. We opted not to hire one but instead explore the little Island, there are very few spots to sit and enjoy the water but depending on the weather the spots are not worth swimming. There is a restaurant on the Island with a few good selections of cocktails, a little expensive compared to the main island. Also great views of Noumea from the Island with photo opportunities.
Micheal L — Google review
I was surprised to see how close it is from Anse Vata beach but I love the island for its lovely, clear water. It is not really a white sandy beach but you can enjoy the lovely swimming session and snorkeling as well. Too bad when I came here it was just a day after the storm so the visibility was zero. But I still enjoy the day out here. There is a cafe here as well where you can order some drinks and finger food. And you can rent the umbrella as well as the snorkeling gear if you don't have yours.
Indah S — Google review
Only 5mins from Noumea (1500xpf by taxi boat on the mainland - look for the yellow/red flag) but full of tourists. Beaches covered in dead coral which is surprisingly painful so bring water shoes! Snorkelling is pretty good but better on the further islands so not my favourite. Would come if you are short on time/need convenience. Popular with young families.
Alexandra H — Google review
If you are staying at Noumea, going to Duck Island is a no brainer. The best way to get there is taking the glass boat from the pier in front of the Burger King. In my view this island is better than others that are usually better rated (eg Amedée and Maitre). The corals are abundant and very close to the shore. Even my six year old kid could easily go and see all sorts of corals and fishes.
Guilherme B — Google review
As someone suggested in their review, most of the coral reefs are dead but they are still refuge to lots of colourful fishes. I snorkelled there for more than an hour and was lucky to swim with turtles. Not worth renting anything from the island. No fresh water bath available. It is only available on the mainland beaches (5 min away by a ferry). Lovely helpful people on the mainland beach at Rock sail stop ( Hop on Hop off bus). Very hot and two chairs and an umbrella cost about 46A$.
Chidambara R — Google review
Have to say the snorkeling was disappointing, most of the reef is dead but there are plenty of fish. My sister and I came here and brought our own drinks and food and they didn’t seem to mind as drinks and food are very expensive.

Zoo
Nature & Parks
Park
Parc Zoologique Et Forestier Michel Corbasson, also known as Parc Forestier, is a 34-hectare park located in Noumea, New Caledonia. Established in 1962 to preserve dry forest and endemic species, it offers a unique blend of natural beauty and wildlife. The zoo houses a variety of local and exotic plants and animals within its botanical garden.
This zoo is an absolute delight to visit, offering a tranquil escape into nature. The park is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and a variety of animals in thoughtfully designed enclosures. The highlight for me was seeing the peacocks and other exotic birds freely roaming around, adding a unique charm to the experience. The layout of the zoo makes it easy to explore, with plenty of shaded areas for a relaxing walk. A must-visit for families or anyone looking to connect with wildlife in a serene setting!
Kseniia F — Google review
This is a great park to visit in Noumea if you are into birds (not me). There is a good amount of walking and you can easily spend 1-2 hours here. There are also water refill stations and drinking fountains, which are especially useful on hot and humid days. The highlight was the catfish in the pond which followed us around (presumably because they were expecting food).
Will T — Google review
Managed to squeeze in a brief park walk on our last day & if you like beautiful plants and ample foliage to provide shade this is a great place to chill out - bring a picnic lunch there are lots of spots to settle on but no feeding the animals!! It was nice that the endemic fauna are close enough to really appreciate as I don’t think a cagou in the wild would have let us get so close. That said, some of the bird enclosures are a bit small though & we only checked out the endemic section so we never witnessed what others have mentioned about mammals being kept in very confined spaces which possibly exist in other sections. It’s quite hilly and the further you descend the longer you’ll inevitably need to ascend so keep this in mind if walking on inclines or declines are problematic. Would loved to have spent longer & made a half day of it
Michael Z — Google review
Nice large park to take a walk, but nothing too fancy regarding the animals. In particular the cages are quite basic and not really pretty. Petting zoo seems to be closed and has been for some time. In face of the small fee it might be worth a visit, but Nouméa has much better attractions if you have limited time. E.g. the Lagoon aquarium was otherworldly compared to this park/zoo.
Jan-Michael M — Google review
Nice Zoo, providing good views, with big variety of colourful birds and a few animals. Allow 2-3 hours minimum to see everything.
Андрей Л — Google review
Great value. Would recommend visiting to see a cagou as you may not have a chance in the wild. Otherwise some relatively interesting Caledonian birds and some foreign ones too. Don't expect to see much other than birds - the only mammal before European settlement was the bat.
Ro M — Google review
It's a small park, but it has some picnic areas and many local birds and other animals. Also several scenic overlooks. Good for small children.
Ken P — Google review
This is pretty good zoo with big territory. Staff are super friendly and helpful. There are not so many animals but still it is like safari. Monkeys, birds, emus are there.

Place des Cocotiers, located in the heart of Noumea, is a charming city-square park that has been a central gathering place since the late 19th century. The square features a central pavilion, wide walking paths, and lush greenery including palms and spreading trees. Visitors can relax beneath the flamboyant trees or enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the square. Notable attractions include a band rotunda, a petanque pitch, and a giant chessboard.
Place des Cocotiers is like the heart of Noumea. It's this huge square surrounded by tall coconut trees, and it's always buzzing with activity. The ocean view is just stunning, perfect for watching the sunset. There are tons of restaurants and cafes around, so you can grab a bite to eat or a coffee and just chill. And there's always something going on, like festivals or markets. I could spend hours just people-watching and soaking up the atmosphere. Coming from Thailand, which is so far away, I really wish my hometown had a beautiful square like this.

Thursday markets!!! I didn’t see a mention of Thursday markets anywhere in any of the tourism literature for Noumea, and we stumbled on them by accident. So interesting, it’s clearly where the locals do their buying and selling of fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, pot plants, flowers, clothes, cut flowers and plants, jam, pickles, and loads of locally produced takeaway food for breakfast or lunch. There were a few cruise ship tourists but not many. We had a great time.
Sue M — Google review
We had an amazing day in Numea. City Park was the first place when we got off the shuttle bus. The location was great. The views were amazing. There was a lot of friendly people to greet us and let us know what was available to do. Bus tours and train bus tours etc. The park was child and wheelchair friendly. Overall a great place
Daryl H — Google review
Enjoyable for a shaded stroll on a hot day. Clean area. Some cafes along the far end. Locals go there for picnic lunches and shade.
Christina C — Google review
Interesting place with local vibes ! On a weekend there is a musical kiosk that plays a local music! The band is very vibrant! You can hear local song! It was a great experience. There is also a flea and street markets . People sell all kind of stuff. You can potentially find a little souvenir that you want to bring home. Everything is very cheap there. There are also few food tracks. Something good to experience when you are there!
Deanna — Google review
Very nice park in the center of town. There are many tropical trees, shrubs and flowers. There big tree shades that the locals and tourists can relax during hot noon.
Jonathan T — Google review
July 2023 - Lovely big open space in the middle of town. We had a short pit stop and wander before carrying on with our journey. Not much happening whilst we were there, but I imagine it gets really busy.
Jo D — Google review
This is the heart and center of the city. Very nice place to relax. It is hot in the morning but there are some shaded areas where you can hide. It is best to visit at night where you can see a lot of Christmas lights and feel the holiday season. There are also nearby stores where you can buy some stuff you need at night.

Farmers Markets
Noumea City Market, located beside Port Moselle, offers a vibrant array of local fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish. The maze-like market also features pastries, snacks, flowers, and crafts. While some visitors found the market lacking in action on Sundays with limited selection due to closed stalls focusing on tourist souvenirs; it remains a popular spot for locals to shop for fresh produce and other food supplies.
Noumea City Morning Market Visited on Friday, 6/12/2024 The Noumea City Morning Market, also known as the Port Moselle Market, is a few minutes’ walk from the cruise terminal. This is the first stop of the Hop-on Hop-Off bus. The market, with its distinctive blue roofs, is very clean, and floor dry throughout. It is composed of five small halls: • Fresh Produce Hall • Seafood Hall • Meat and Flowers Hall • Pastries and Baked Goods Hall • Handicrafts and Clothing Hall The fresh produce hall is filled with a wide variety of colorful tropical fruits such as bananas, pineapples, papayas, and mangoes, along with local produce especially yams, taro, etc. Non-tropical fruits such as apples, oranges, kiwi fruit, and pears are imported from Australia or New Zealand. The seafood hall, located in a separate building offers fresh catch by local fishermen, including fish, seafood, and crustaceans like lobster. There are imported varieties such salmon, tuna, prawns and shrimps on sale. The meat hall offers a variety of locally sourced meats, but lamb, duck and Venison are imported. Part of the flower / pastries hall is filled with local tropical flowers such as hibiscus, frangipani, and orchids. Bouquets and arrangements are made with a mix of local and imported flowers, including roses and tulips from cooler climates. There are coffee, pastries and baked products on sale, including my favourite croissants, and Danishes. This handicrats and clothing hall stocks many local unique products, including jewelry, pottery, and decorative pieces made by local artisans. It is important to note that the market is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 5 AM to 11 AM. I feel that it is a missed opportunity for food operators not to provide customers with the service to cook and consume their freshly purchased seafood on the premises.”
Sin C — Google review
We loved the cafe in the middle, the delicious pastries, and the relaxed vibe. Many of the souvenir products were low quality and very overpriced. There is one stall, though, that sold handmade coconut fibre jewellery with pearls. It was fantastic and well priced. This market is great if you are there for the cafe or are looking to buy some fresh fruit or vegetables.
Julie B — Google review
The fresh fruit and veggies were great, as well as fish. As for the other stalls not a lot to choose from. I was there NOT when a cruise ship was in town so everything light on the ground. When there are cruise ships in town everything ramps up to grab the $$$$$
Redfern R — Google review
Worth a visit to see the local produce and seafood. Easy walk from the cruise ship / ferry terminal. Good chance to buy souvenirs if nothing is open. Prices looked high, as expected in a tourist oriented market.
Clare M — Google review
It is a must visit, you can get some souvenirs, local produce, and seafood. Rather overpriced (as expected) since they tailor to tourists. Prices are typically 20-30% higher than in Australia (1 medium pineapple approx 10-13 AUD, 1kg bananas 10AUD). Souvenirs are made in China. For local crafts I was told to browse smaller art stores in the city but I didn’t have enough time to investigate.
Vitali A — Google review
As a tourist, was a tad bit disappointed not seeing any action going on here. Was expecting the local market to be filled with locals doing their morning shopping, and a fair bit more action than what I had. Maybe it's because it was a Sunday when we visited. As a local, there's not much selection whatsoever. Many stalls have since closed, leaving the space empty. Only a couple of vegetables, fish, fruits, and baked goods stalls are left. The rest, very much tourist souvenir good stands. You'll likely spend about 20 mins here, walking around, snapping photos, do some shopping, enjoy some coffee, and bask in the sea breeze, before moving on to your next stop.
Flo Y — Google review
Must visit for tourist to meet locals selling fresh fruits and vegetables, art and craft, souvenir, fish, prawns and crabs. Most resorts don't allow cooking so you may not want to buy alot. You can buy pineapple, pawpaw, fresh coconut water, banana, oranges and lots of other fruits. I don't understand why someone doesn't cooked fish and chips to try at the market. There is a little cafe in the middle to buy breakfast and FREE WiFi is also available. Bus stop is across the road so you can go back to your resort or cruise liner. The market is closed on Mondays and opens at 5am and closes at midday.
Yogesh N — Google review
Stop here for fresh vieneoisserie, baked bread, coffees! Huge selection of fresh produce! The locals sell their wares as well! Selection includes tshirts, sarongs, handmade soaps, vanilla bead pods/seasonings, fans, magnets, Plumeria flower headbands, jewelry, canvas tote bags and trinkets. One little section of stalls but enough if you’re looking for some souvenirs. They take AUS dollars and most folks take credit cards (mostly Visa, some take Amex). Nice little market. (On a side note- we visited the Johnston grocery store before we stopped here and found magnets, postcards and a few trinkets- along with awesome chocolates and snacks). It was great being able to use our Credit card to pay and not convert currency or pull from an ATM.

We were hesitant because of some reviews but we are very happy with the hotel, considering the circumstances after what happened on the island last year. Since arrival all the staff have been friendly and helpful, so I don't understand why people say they are rude? Sometimes the French style demeanour can be stern in appearance but when you chat to them they are all welcoming. They are short staffed as are all the venues across the island. In the week they don't do the huge, varied breakfast spread that is normal for a 5* hotel, but that's because there's not as many people staying and they haven't got the staff. New Caledonia is expensive no doubt, due to importing everything but considering the cost of breakfast elswhere and what we get at the Meridian it's very good value. Yes there's work to be done here but it's a fabulous location and the staff do work hard and try to meet expectations and we would definitely stay again.

Disappointed as we thought this is the best in Noumea but definitely not. The suite was great but they don’t refill coffees tea unless you asked considering we were booked for 5 days. The concierge was friendly and helpful though. No restaurant in the evening which was disappointing and had to go outside the place is dead after 7pm. The buffet breakfast was so disappointing considering the price they charge.

Do not stay here. This is not a 5 star resort. My first room had biting insecta in the bed and i had to request a room change in the middle of the night. I am covered in bites. They currently have no gym and no day spa- not that you would know that prior to arriving. The snorkelling out front of the hotel is dismal. The buffet breakfast is borderline inedible. The cereals are stale the fruit looks/tastes days old. Bottom line- absolutely not worth the money paid, the location is the only saving grace.

This hotel needs work. Our room felt dated and looks nothing like the photos online. There were multiple broken drawers and even broken appliances in our room, and it was not cleaned properly. However the front desk staff did nothing to accommodate our requests for items to be fixed and actually seemed irritated by our concerns. We understand the current situation politically, but if you can't operate at a "5 star" level then your management should choose to stay closed. I would not recommend this hotel unless you are comfortable staying in what feels like a 3* hotel at a 5* price.

I stayed at Le Mèridien with my mom for a short vacation. The resort was very beautiful and the staff was super friendly and helpful. However what was really surprising was the condition of the rooms and some basic necessities that were lacking. Such as a hairdyer, slippers and a bathrobe were all missing. Obviously there is no guarantee for these items to be in a hotel room but are very common and especially for a 5 star hotel i would have expected them to be found in the room. In addition to the lack of equipment in the room we encountered some problems with the information supplied by the hotel. For example there was no way to know what was being served for breakfast beforehand on the website which could pose challenges for people with special diets such as vegans. But fear not since the breakfast buffet was very satisfying and filled with all kinds of options for everyone. But the restaurants were a different case, they had much fewer vegetarian options. But again the staff was very helpful and tried to come up with solutions for us. Then another thing we found very surprising was the fact that the pool was only open from 9am to 5pm which i find very odd. There was no opportunity for a morning swim in the pool and it closed quite early aswell. In addition to that there was a rule stating that no food was allowed by the pool which also was confusing since we are paying for a 5 star hotel vacation and are told like kids to go and eat elsewhere. Obviously we still respected the wishes off the staff and took our snacks elsewhere but were left wishing for an explanation as to why the food was banned from the pool. On our last day there was some sort of stage that some of the workers were putting up all day. We were excited as we thought there was gona be some music playing in the evening as the sun was setting and people came to eat dinner. But we were wrong, they played some music briefly and then stopped for the whole evening atleast until we left at about 8pm (so it’s possible they started later). But i just found it curious that there was no information about any music or an artist coming to play at all, it’s like they didn’t want anyone to know? All in all we enjoyed our stay but were sort of let down by the 5 star rating. I definately consider it a good hotel and resort but just not quite that 5 star level. The staff was super friendly and helpful but it felt like so many of our problems and questions could have been avoided with proper information given on the website or upon our arrival.

I stayed at Le Meridian in April as an unexpected detour, but couldn't recommend this property and its staff more highly. After arriving in New Caledonia a day before my birthday, it was important to me to enjoy that day a bit. The hotel I had planned to stay at was unable to accomodate me (Hilton), and rebooked me without my consent which was unprofessional. Enough about Hilton (that stay was terrible for the following two days). I was lucky enough to book a room at Le Meridian where the staff was helpful, professional, and friendly. The room and view was beautiful. Not only that, the staff acknowledged my birthday on arrival, and even had a nice small gift in the room when I arrived. For those planning to stay in New Caledonia, Le Meridian is lovely and modern property with a kind and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

not only that we struggled with the terribly smelly room i had to pay extra night. would not stay again ever again at this hotel. the loction is to fare from everything and there is nothing there. We were there with my son for Karate competition with Australian team and we book this hotel for 7 nights. the first night we arrived the we were tired and the room was smelly, we told them next day they clean it but after few hours it will be back. after 5 night they put us in to different room. also the last night i paid because we were leaving early and the man told me just drop the keys, next morning the lady asking mt to pay for last night, i keep telling them i paid here is receipt but she keep will say no you have to pay last night.

Despite negative reviews, our 10 nights stay was pleasant. Stayed in a renovated room, with a very efficient and silent aircon. The breakfast was great (more variety during weekends). Very clean and well taken care of. One tip: when ordering cocktails, go for the bar behind reception and avoid the one on the beach. Same prices for the cocktails, the quality difference is huge...

Nestled in a historic colonial building, the Musée de Nouvelle-Calédonie is a treasure trove of regional ethnography and visual arts, established back in 1893. This museum offers an insightful journey into the rich cultural heritage of the Kanak people, showcasing an impressive array of artifacts that tell stories from their past and highlight the influences of European settlement. Visitors can marvel at everything from traditional bowls to intricate doors and even historical currency used by the Kanak community.
Very nice museum on the people's of New Caledonia. It even expands out from the island with elements of Micronesia, Polynesian as well as the melenisan cultures. Being a Sunday we had free admission which was excellent.

Easy to locate, the entry fee was affordable though I was expecting something bigger! Good place to learn the different cultures of Polynesian countries. They also have 8 giant comic books for children so they won't get too bored.

The restaurant is known for its upscale ambiance, featuring an open-air terrace and modern decor, making it perfect for sunset dining and intimate gatherings. It serves a French-Pacific fusion menu that highlights local seafood and tropical ingredients. Additionally, Le Roof provides a vibrant nightlife experience with live bands and energetic DJs spinning both local and international hits.
Nice restaurant good service and you get to enjoy watching fishes and if you are lucky you can see the dolphins like we did! We enjoyed the dessert. Prawn spring rolls were nice. Disappointed with ravioli. Duck was ok. Very expensive place to dine but you are paying for the ambience!
Ann K — Google review
One of the best nights we have had so far in Noumea. Watching the huge fish, turtles and a shark or two swim below while eating some of the best food . The prices are on the higher side but the quality and presentation of the food was so worth the price. Have eaten other places here for not much cheaper that didn’t even come close to the quality of the ale Roof menu. If you come to Noumea you must visit this restaurant at least once!
Kali L — Google review
We wanted something special for New year's Eve so we booked in advance and pay half of the special menu. Everything was delicious and well matching in flavours. I was surprised cause one of the courses had lamb and I don't like it, but was so well prepared that I even like it. The views were very nice, we were outside and the breeze was nice, and we get to see all the different fish dancing around and some dolphins there. Also big big fish that we actually debated about, is too big to be a fish to small to be a shark or to slow to be a dolphin, so, very entertaining for us 😜. Seagulls and small white fish dancing around, even rare jumping ones. Was definitely a very nice night. Service was excellent and dedicated. If we only have more days to stay.. definitely recommend fine dining experience.

Really enjoyed Le Roof, we went for lunch, really good menus to choose from and good prices too. Enjoyed the relaxed pace and friendly service. Food we had was fantastic, packed full of flavour, very comfortably full at the end of the meal. Great views too over the water to the islands.
Jonathan B — Google review
The reviews always say it's expensive, but what they don't say is that the prices are actually reasonable given the quality and the ingredients of their dishes. The prices are no more expensive that what you would find in fine dining restaurants in New Zealand and Australia. But be mindful of your bill though because something gets lost in translation so look at it carefully (they ask you though to check it anyway). We didn't and we had to call, but they were apologetic and gracious and dropped off the difference at our hotel (we stayed at the Le Meridien) as promised. The location is more than a novelty- it's central to the experience of dining in a restaurant where seafood is the star attraction. The service is impeccable and their glassware is PRISTINE. Sorry, these are the small things we check. Will definitely come back again and prepared to pay a small fortune BECAUSE IT'S WORTH IT.
Zac C — Google review
By far the most expensive meal we had in Noumea, and we ate at some of the best restaurants in town. It was worth it for the amazing view. What a location. We even saw a dolphin!! Staff could speak English too which was helpful. My dining companion said the seafood was delicious. I am vegetarian and there was just some roast veggies for me.

Dined on a Tuesday night, was absolutely lovely, great atmosphere, fantastic service and food was fabulous. Was quite expensive but compared to the rest of Noumea and Anse-Vata it was value for money - we got the set menu (various options) which helped too. Stunning fish display even in the dark, they certainly put on a show. Would highly recommend for a high quality dinner out. Booked at lunchtime for the 7pm reservation and got a perfect table outside overlooking the water, almost every table has a water view.

Best restaurant in noumea in my opinion. Very creative and tasty food. Nice setting and good service. Tuna avocado and squid lave was superbly presented and delicious. Best fish I've ever had (red snapper) cooked to perfection. The Cafe gourmand was superb. Great desserts.

Beautifully presented food that tasted delicious! We had the slow cooked lamb and the tagine baked fish. For dessert we had the lemon meringue tart and the "revised floating boat". Everything was amazing! Thank you for a delicious dinner experience.

Great service and an idyllic garden setting above the waterfront. Our food was good, though not exceptional. Everything was nicely presented, and the portions were generous. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.
Jonathan G — Google review
Awful. Avoid. The glass of champagne I ordered was flat. There were mistakes in the menu about which dishes were gluten free. The red wine I ordered arrived so cold it was at the serving temperature of a white. The miscommunication about dietary requirements meant my wife was served the wrong food. There are good restaurants in Noumea. This is not one of them.
Jim D — Google review
Disappointed on how bad their service was, waitress can't even pour water properly and on top of that gave attitude when we ask how long we have to wait to get our food. Then, birds roaming around each table of clients, that's a first time I experienced it (but hey there is a first time for everything right?) I took a 2 meal course, food was pretty good, pollenta is clearly from the day before though. Nocchiola as a dessert is pretty nice, especially to change your pallet taste.

Went for lunch midweek and had no problem getting a table. Staff were helpful and spoke good English. Our meals arrived promptly and looked amazing - sadly my fish was not cooked in the middle - but it was returned to the kitchen and reappeared after a few minutes. This time it also tasted great! My partner had chocolate mousse for dessert which tasted wonderful. Definitely recommendable.

Lovely but Expensive @ > 90 000 XPF for two mains and one shared entree of six prawns We had a 1830 booking (made earlier in the day) but they were “not ready” to open at about 1835 and it was difficult to find the staff to help us when we arrived. We were then told to wait at Bar Waited to 1850 - the bar was busy so we also waited for drinks to arrive as well which then didn’t arrive and we then moved back to the restaurant around 1855 and the drinks eventually followed. Didn’t seem to have enough staff on Dinner service from eventual start @ aprox 1900 to when we left aprox 2015 hrs seemed very slow- we didn’t bother with dessert due to the wait and we were pretty much first to be served and order Families around us (with kids) who arrived just after us aprox 7 pm just had their entree arrive as we left at 8.15 pm so we imagine the main would be even longer to arrive On the other hand the girls serving were lovely, and had the service was lovely Scenery was lovely Piano man playing was lovely Atmosphere was lovely Needs to be better organized and food needs to be more prompt

The museum's exhibits not only delve into New Caledonia's maritime past but also shed light on its cultural heritage, including Kanak statues and archives that narrate the island's history.
The Maritime Museum of New Caledonia offers a truly captivating experience. The exhibits are rich with history, showcasing artifacts and stories that bring maritime culture to life. The well-maintained displays and interactive sections make the visit both educational and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone interested in maritime history or seeking an engaging and unique museum experience.

A must-see museum with Nautical flavour As others have said you could easily overlook this Museum located where it is - but it really is one of those hidden treasures. Géant Hypermarché in Sainte Marie, located just 2km east of Noumea's center, is a massive supermarket offering a wide range of products. From cured meats to children's clothing, this superstore has it all. Easily accessible by bus from the city and Anse Vata, it's a convenient spot to stock up on essentials like cereal and milk for families or indulge in French cheese, wine, snacks, and chocolate for beach picnics.
Great range, well laid out and the car park is easy to negotiate for those of us used to driving on the other side of the road. The charcuterie is soooo good!

Best supermarket we have visited while in Noumea - have been to 2 casinos + the ®arrefour hypermarche in dumbea - this has the best range for groceries and other essentials including kids toys and booster seats etc. Fresh produce is good too, though there was more diversity of fruit + veg at the carrefour (e.g. pineapples and local tomatoes there but not at geant)

While the entrance may be tricky to find, the panoramic vistas and delicious food make it well worth the search.
Not the easiest of places to find but if you walk up the hill (through the hotel complex at the bottom) you come upon this unassuming place with an amazing view! It was early lunchtime & hardly anyone there so we were served quickly. Staff were not exactly friendly but the Panda crepes and ice cream sundae arrived pronto and tasted delicious. Thoroughly recommendable

Amazing views and the breakfast specials are great! So much food and the coffee was the best I had in New Caledonia. Amazing view and amazing food at this place. The service was good, and the pricing is very reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed the buckwheat pancake with duck breasts and duck gizzards. It was surprisingly good. There are a lot of stray kittens in the area, and one of them just ended up sitting next to us while we dine. The entrance of this place might be hard to find and google might take you through a wrong route. Instead of looking up the direction to this place look for Le surf hotel. And once you get to the street entrance just continue up to the very top of the road and you'll see a tiny sign on the fence pointing to the right.

Great food! Huge variety, fast friendly service (including in English), relaxed atmosphere, beautiful view, very reasonable prices... and a few cutie pie cats loitering about 😻 So good we went two nights in a row! Not super easy to find... go up the street opposite "Le Fun" restaurant, past the "Casino Royal" and at the top of the street, turn right. Only opens at 1830. Enjoy!!!

Visited the restaurant during a scuba dive holiday, it was recommended to me from the first day by all other divers as the best french crepes and amazing place to enjoy a meal. Tried once and end up visiting 3 times, trying different galettes (salt crepe) and all different sweet crepes (butter and sugar my favourite). Loved the food and the atmosphere, after lunch had couple of drinks and enjoyed the best view of the bay. Went for lunch and dinner and could appreciate why the locals loved it. If going for dinner call first, it can get very busy at night. Is one of the few places that open 7 days from 11-9 (10 on weekends) which suits me perfect as late lunch and dinner are for me.

Amazing unique experience. Short boat trip out to the restaurant which is 1500xpf per person. Great food and great fun to go swimming after and relax on the deck in the lounge chairs. Nothing like this at home so loved the whole experience. Waitress swung between friendly and rude. If you want the lobster or crab you need to order when you book your table as they run out. Fish selection was small and they ran out of some desserts too so don't wait to long to order. If it's a rough day it's not for those who get a little seasick.

As the weather warms up, beaches are becoming increasingly inviting, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With many opting for outdoor activities over traditional gym workouts, open water swimming emerges as an exhilarating way to stay fit while enjoying nature. The refreshing sensation of cool waves against your skin and the invigorating scent of salty air create an atmosphere that is hard to resist.
Great beach to sit down under a tree and relax. The sound of seashells ringing together with the ebb and flow of the waves made a rushing sound like a thousand small bells being shaken by momentary gust of wind.

Lagoon Aquarium is a small but captivating aquarium that offers a diverse range of tropical fish, including the popular clownfish and blue tang fish. Visitors can also observe intriguing creatures such as nautilus mollusks and self-lighting flashlight fish. The aquarium features realistic habitats for various marine species found in New Caledonian waters, from sharks and sea snakes to turtles and stingrays.
A great activity to get out of the heat! Staff very friendly and aquarium life interesting to see. The turtles were amazing!! There was also a lookout for beautiful photos 📸

If you want to know what most of the fish that are in the local sea look like, come here. There’s a beautiful diversity of colorful creatures right in the aquarium, that you can then try to find if you snorkel at Bay of Lemons, Phare Amédée etc so you see what good collection of fish there is at the Lagoon aquarium. The behind the scenes visits are great as well. This is one of 2 places in the world where the ancient nautilus is bred successfully in house, the other aquarium is in Japan. We live here and visit very often.

This was the highlight of our trip to Noumea. What a wonderful place. So well run, and all of the tanks were gleaming and in great condition. All the marine life was looking healthy and relaxed. I was so impressed with the stunning coral displays and tropical fish. Saw several species I'd never seen before. The prices for admission were very reasonable. It was a bit of a line to get in, and it was hot! A bit more shading out the front would be great, but it was not a huge wait. The gift shop had some great items for sale, and nothing was overpriced. Bus stop across the road and made the location very convenient. Loved the outside veiwing pool where the turtle were lots of seating to relax before resuming your tour. I highly recommend visiting here to anyone thinking of checking it out.

This was the best beach, and probably the most beautiful one, that I have ever been to in my life. Lemon Bay is not bad in Nouméa! The beach is perfect for families tho—calm, clear water and fine sand make it great for swimming and relaxing. The pontoons offshore were a hit with my kids, who loved jumping off them. Snorkelling was surprisingly good, with colourful fish and a small reef to explore. The shady trees and grassy areas are ideal for a picnic or just chilling out. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants across the road expensive tho!, so you’re never far from a coffee or meal. Only downside: it can get busy on weekends, and some parts of the beach are a bit rocky, so bring water shoes. Easy to reach by bus from the city center.

Walking on the beach side ,you notice that this is an area where both tourists and locals mix. Locals wind down after their wk day has finished either strolling or exercising. Our experience with this charter company was quite the opposite to the few reviews around hostility of the operators etc. we found them nothing but courteous and accommodating. This being after we finally found a booking pretty late in the afternoon the day before we wanted to do to Amedee Island. They respond in whichever method of communication you prefer. For us that was through the local sun we got. The operator texted us details and advise immediately after we hung up with him. The trip there and back was very enjoyable on the speed boat and the skipper was lovely enough to translate everything he is saying in English even though we were the only English speaking couple out of the 11 people onboard. Highly recommend them. Thank you for accommodating us at such short notice and for being friendly. They even dropped us back at our hotel beach instead of the marina to save us time and cost in taking a taxi back. Very much appreciated.
Dalal R — Google review
I don't usually write poor review on business, but they have zero communication nor apologise for their poor service.. so here it is. My 1st time to Neumeu and for 4 days only, I thought I will pick Signal Island instead of Amedee for more remote and better chance to spot wild life and to relax.. Dal'Ocean have limited services (no 1/2 day trip as I would like) - email back and forward was abit confusing and cold (assume non-English speaking issue), but they promise weather will be good for Sunday. Being travel sole and non-French speaker, my host help me to arrange taxi to arrive early at the port. I waited at the port for 30min and there were no show from Dal'Ocean Charter. Only to find out later that they have email me 6pm the night before to cancel the trip and want to rearrange for Monday instead, due to weather (windy, but sunny out of 4 days I was in Neumeu). I was all dress and plan for Island trip out (carrying 2L of water as suggested to bring alot of water - thinking I might be leave alone for 6 hrs).. How embarrassing is that to carry all that around. I email back at a free wifi location to say Monday fine and I have waited for 30min just so you know. Next thing I know they have canceled the booking with no explaining or explain what happen to my CC payment detail etc. Now, I have missed out on going to any of the Islands b/c of timing issue with other operators. Would I able to get away as a customer if I decide to cancel a trip with less than 24 hrs notice? Completely poor communication. Could have call my contact no# or at least a notice / note at the port for me to know. Or someone be there just in case I didn't get the email at 6pm (do I expect you to check email after business hours)? NOTHING. Absolutely rubbish services. Took us out to Signal Island when we got to Noumea for our South Pacific cruise. Great bunch of guys and great price compared to what you'd pay if booking with the cruise line.

Unfortunately, they cancel on you after they claim they have enough passengers for the trip to get you to sign up and provide them with your credit card.
