Restaurant
L'Atelier Gourmand is a beloved bakery in Noumea, offering affordable pastries and plentiful lunch options. The desserts are particularly outstanding. Its sister store along Route de Port Despointes boasts a larger selection of cakes. Locals and visitors alike find it to be an oasis, with a wide variety of food and pastry options at great prices. Whether you're heading to the zoo, aquarium, islands, or the beach, this bakery is worth a visit.
This was just one of the best little pastry shops that we have come across so far. I dont speak French, but the staff were very patient with pointing at trying to explain what was in the sandwiches. Their croissants were so light, layered, crispy, and full of such an amazing flavour it most definitely didn't need anything else to go with it. Can't wait to go back to this place.

Nice little French bakery near where the bus drops you off coming off a cruise ship. Enjoyed a snack of french pastries at a good price to hold us off til we went back to the ship.

Oasis for locals and visitors alike ! Definitely worth a visit Loads of food and pastry options Rolls, baguettes with salad, ham, Salmon , proeschetto, Chickens etc Very well priced plus juices, coke, coffee as well. Would definitely recommend popping in here if you are off on a day trip to the Zoo, Aquarium, islands or even a day at the beach. Located two blocks up a side road, close to the Hilton, close to the south end of Ana Vatu

FRIENDLY STAFF AND DELICIOUS PASTRIES We are from Australia and our daughter wanted to order some pastries speaking French. She had been practicing for a while and finally got her chance at L’Atellier Gourmand. The staff were amazing and encouraged her the whole time. Pastries were delicious which was a bonus. Highly recommend!

Love this bakery. Their baguettes are just delicious & we loved salad. All the sweets pastries are yummy as well. You must try this place when you visit Nouméa!

We have lived in New Caledonia off and on for the past year. We will be here for 1-2 more years. This bakery was recommended so we thought we would give it a try. There is a very good selection of sandwiches, salads, desserts, and breads. Most items are fresh. Everything we have purchased has been very good. I have only one complaint. The cashier asked us to leave a tip for our order. Tipping is not customary in France or the French Islands. We didn't understand why we were being asked. We have never been asked to tip anywhere else in New Caledonia for any purchase. Maybe because we are still learning the French language and the cashier thinks we are tourists? On our third visit, I listened to the customer transactions in line ahead of me. The cashier did not ask the local customers for tips. Only us. I hope it is not a trend to ask tourists to pay extra. This new practice discouraged us. There are other good bakeries on the island who do not ask for extra money from tourists. Otherwise, the bakery is very good, very clean, and the staff are very friendly.

We tried plenty of Pain au Chocolat in Noumea, and this one was hands down the best. Service with a smile as well. Make sure you go early as they do run out of pastries - although they also have a selection of mini-pastry if the main ones are all sold. We also returned and ordered some fresh take away sandwiches for lunch - one chicken and one tuna. Both were excellent, fresh ingredients, and super tasty. Highly recommend this boulangerie!
JED — Google review
The best in the city!!! I couldn’t resist to come here every morning for a baguette blanche... top quality French style bakery, with everything you would expect. I’ve never seen anything close in Australia. You won’t find this place in the tourists brochures, so come before it becomes too popular!!!

Le Faré du Palm Beach is a laid-back beachfront restaurant situated on Anse Vata Beach, offering a delightful array of seafood in a tropical setting. The open-air ambiance allows guests to savor island-inspired dishes just steps away from the shore, providing an ideal opportunity to relish the lagoon's beauty. Emphasizing locally sourced seafood and friendly service, this spot is popular among both locals and visitors seeking an authentic taste of the tropics.
Great Value - Solid Food We were staying at Le Meridian and walked down to the beach restaurants most nights for dinner. Ate here a few times as good burgers & chips at a great price (Noumea is expensive). The pineapple drinks, waffles & crepes are good too. Simple seating area opposite the beach to watch the sunset and not break the bank eating out. Fast service too, food out in under 10min every time.
Scott W — Google review
I recently dined at this restaurant, service was okay, however I had a concerning experience with their raw beef burgers. When I informed the staff about it, they briefly grilled the same burger and returned it on the same bun. Unfortunately, it remained undercooked. Food safety is a top priority, and I expected better handling of this situation, clearly there was no effort made.
Lara A — Google review
LAST ONE FOR ME - This is the third burger I have had in Noumea and once again, it was awful. Each burger has been no bigger than the heel portion of my shoe sole and about as eatable. Chewy w lots of not-meat inclusions on a huge bun. I could not finish it cuz it made me sick and had it removed from the bill. Still ended up being about $20 for fries and a watery mojito (terrible, too!). Why can’t Noumea make and sell good burgers and at a price that matches the quality? Overpriced, way way undersized to the point of laughable, and just not good to eat. I’ll be going to the grocery store from now on.
Astrofish — Google review
Did a takeaway! Enjoyed the burgers and fries, burgers were big, loved the fresh juice (I think it was mango or orange)
Di V — Google review
The staff are lovely but disappointed with their food. Didn't expect our "banana split" are swarm with cream and 2 bite portions of banana seen. Fruit juices taste water to me.

I had an unplanned brunch here and enjoyed a very tasty, home style burger and good quality long black. Staff were friendly and attentive and put up with our very poor French (they spoke English). Reasonable prices for being at the beach in Noumea.

Cappuccino was delicious with loads of cream on it. Place has WiFi which was the only place along the whole strip along the beach

Bakery
Au Pêché Mignon, located on Rue Jules Garnier, is a beloved spot for locals to indulge in delectable cakes. The patisserie also offers assistance beyond pastries, as one visitor received help in calling a taxi and useful tips for navigating Noumea. The bakery's cookies, brownies, pain au chocolat, and quiche lorraine are highly recommended.
I tried the almond croissant and a cold round pastry with cream (sorry didn't know its name). Such a perfect pastry for a hot weather. It's not overly sweet with nich crunch outside. We took the Lyvai hop on-off bus (green wrist band) from pier and got off at the shopping mall stop (the one with "Casino" sign) and walk about 5-10 min to get there

An absolutely amazing cafe for breakfast & lunch! Very yummy food, good prices, friendly service and good selection of pastries and desserts - french style, french flavours, french colours and french everything. I kept coming back to Au Peche Mignon for breakfast while on holidays in Noumea and I would not hesitate to come back when I visit New Caledonia next time!
Tatiana S — Google review
Omg everything here is so good, I have become a daily visitor & will likely yearn for this place for ages after departing. Everything we tried was good. The croissant framboise, the flan, the poulet Cesar baguette…all of it. Two stand outs for me included those pictures below which are the Royal (chocolate flavoured one priced at $800F) & the Saveur de íles (orange one priced at $750F) 🤤 Do me a favour when you go & order an extra one of each for me ;)

Worth the commute from wherever you are on Noumea to this beautiful little bakery. They offer a great breakfast. Very generous portions and very tasty. Definitely one we will frequent when we’re back there.
Dalal R — Google review
This was one of the first patisseries I went to in Noumea not for pastries, but for help. I needed a taxi and the kind assistant (indigenous female) offered to call for one. She was very helpful as it was my first day in Noumea and gave me useful tips to shops where I can find household items. I had a look at the beautiful pastries on display and 2 weeks later, I returned for cookies, brownies, pain au chocolat and quiche lorraine. They were to die for! Highly recommend this place for fine pastries and goodies.

Chocolate shop
Chocolats Morand is a renowned chocolate boutique in Noumea, run by master chocolatier Patrick Morand. With over 10 years of experience, Patrick's passion for chocolate is evident in his creations, which are inspired by local New Caledonian ingredients like vanilla bean and passionfruit. The shop offers a delightful assortment of chocolates and French macarons, including a standout mint-flavored dark chocolate that perfectly balances fresh mint with sweetness.
Variety of all kind of sweets! Tried many kind of chocolates and macaroons. Bought 2 dozens of macaroons. Ganache is superb! Did not want to leave the store really but had to take myself out before I bought more than I need. I recommend to visit that chocolate boutique if you are looking for a high quality chocolate. They also have all sorts of packed chocolate in a gift boxes , which is great! You definitely can pick something and won’t leave the store without buying anything. Yummy!

Walked into this lovely Chocolaterie late on a bank holiday, they very lovely and generous shop keep helped us with directions and then served us some delicious macarons. We just got to the Hilton Double Tree Noumea and are enjoying them for desert!! Yum!! Will be back for more of their delectable treats!
Peter R — Google review
This place smells amazing as soon as you open the door. I didn't get to try their chocolate because I decided to give their macaroons a go. They were crispy on the outside, gooey in the inside and they have right amount of creame. If I have another chance, I would definitely try the chocolates.
Claudya D — Google review
Excellent chocolates and service. Rich flavors, well-balanced, and with some unique local flavors. My favorite was the tomato basil, local vanilla, and conbava (local citrus). Even the chocolate covered marshmallows were the best I’ve had. Highly recommend. Will go back soon.
Lucy C — Google review
An amazing chocolatier with delicious chocolates, macarons, madeleines and cakes of all sorts! The staff are welcoming and helpful. The products are well priced and undoubtedly the best French chocolates and macrons you’ll get in the Southern Hemisphere. A visit to noumea is not complete without a visit to chocolats Mourand! Try the tomato and Basil chocolate - sounds strange but it’s amazing!
Alex D — Google review
If you love chocolate, this is the best chocolatier in town. The confections are outstanding, even those which have flavors (basil, tomato, etc) you wouldn't think would go with chocolate. This is why we'd recommend starting with one of their mixed boxes (the second from the smallest gives a good assortment) to get a good sampling of many different things.
Rich W — Google review
Fantastic little store selling a variety of chocolate based desserts and chocolate. Much effort has been put into the detail and service was nice. Chocolate spread makes an interesting gift!

A la Vieille France, also known as Votre Boulangerie, is the oldest bakery in Noumea, New Caledonia. It's renowned for its charming pastries, artisan breads, and famous macarons. The bakers start their day at 2:30 am to prepare over 20 kilograms of croissants daily. Great variety of desserts and baked goods. A little further up the road from Chocolates Gourmand. Particularly enjoyed the mini baguettes, which each had a distinct taste. Pastries were delicious. Service was pleasant. Probably the best phrase to sum up this place is- unpretentiously fantastic.

I love this bakery! According to a few blogs and websites it is Noumea's oldest bakery. Their pastries and bread are very nice. Best paris brest I've ever had. Very friendly staff and everything look nice and tidy in the shop. Recently they have changed their name, now it is called Votre Boulangerie. Still very nice baked goods despite the name change.

Les Petits Choux is a charming patisserie in Noumea, New Caledonia, offering a delightful variety of sweets and pastries. While seating may be limited, the friendly customer service adds to the inviting atmosphere.
Great pastries and bread. Went there for a quick lunch while in town and the offerings were great, everything fresh. Absolutely amazing. Had a cheese and ham croissant, coffee eclair (arguably the best I’ve had) and coffee.

This bakery is not your traditional French bakery. yes the sandwich I got was nice nice, however it was in the fridge so the bread was not soft, the cakes with very sweet like overly sweet and the cream was a little too firm wish I tried the coffee eclair
Lara R — Google review
Stopped in on a shore day on our cruise after seeing many people mention this in their posts. We had the Chocolate Eclair and Vanilla Slice. So yummy and vanilla slice was huge. I also had a cappuccino, small compared to AU sizes but nice. Cost was very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Some yummy apple crumble, their chocolate croissants are quite good too for XPF180. Customer service was quite good too, the lady was nice and directed us to where the bus stop was and provided me a bag for my crossiant and other food items. Maybe some music would be nice to add to the Cafe.

Patisserie with a nice variety of sweets and pastries. We tried plain and chocolate croissants, and they were good. We also tried the kouign amann, which was also good. We ordered two flat white coffees that tasted great but were relatively small. There were not many tables available, so we had to order take away.

We were on our South Pacific Cruise and our ship docked for the day at Noumea in early March. I read about this French Patisserie earlier and after a tour around Noumea went there. The patisserie was full of customers with a wide variety of baked products both sweet and savory. Honestly speaking most of the items on display were so enticing, I'd have loved to have most of them. But my mind was fixated on one of their signature items, the Croque Monsieur, a very traditional French sandwich. It's made with thick layers of ham between two loaves and the breads are thickly smeared with cheese and grilled. It's fantastic to taste and very filling, adequate for lunch for one person. Also had a Croissant, which was regular in taste. Overall we were amazed by this French eatery and if by any chance return to Noumea, would definitely come again. In the mean time wish other travelers who visit Noumea to enjoy this place.
Amit C — Google review
Okay, I had a very high expectation for pastries in Noumea but this place really just disappointing. The croissant wasn’t flaky at all wasn’t buttery It was more like a brioche and there was nothing Wow about it and the service was rude as well rushing us to place an order while still checking up Whats on display is ridiculous. I definitely won’t come back here. Also super pricey for this bad quality. Honestly us in Sydney. We actually make a great pastries some of the best high-quality once in the world

I’ve been maybe three times in the last couple days on holiday to have coffee and breakfast, grab a fresh baguette or bring dessert back. The staff here have been friendly and patient with my terrible French!

We grabbed baguettes from many boulangeries during our visit but Le Food Court had the BEST baguette tradition of anywhere. Lovely staff & beautiful pastries, we visited many times. Highly recommended. Merci beacoup!

We got here right on closing on a Sunday but staff were lovely and patient with our terrible French! Great coffee and the pastries were incredible. Would love to have more time to go back for a sit down brunch.

All our food was lukewarm-warm: like it had been resting on the bench for 10 minutes before being brought to us. Some of us sent our food back. Not good enough for such exorbitant prices. For a restaurant of this calibre, you have no excuse to be short-staffed.

(Translated by Google) I went there yesterday at 6:30. I was the first customer there and I placed my order: 6 warm pains au chocolat and 4 ham croissants. When it came time to pay, I realized I'd left my wallet in the car, so I put my order on hold near the cashier, retrieved my credit card, and got back in line to pay. The second cashier had just thrown away an empty bag of day-old pastries selling for 800 and 1000 francs. I paid and went home. When I opened my bag of pains au chocolat, 2 were fresh and 4 tasted like industrial pains au chocolat. I asked the opinions of those who were having breakfast with me, and they were unanimous: they were day-old pains au chocolat. Honestly, I was disgusted 😔😓😥😢🤢 Four pains au chocolat were exchanged while I was picking up my credit card. If we can no longer trust the people we liked before. That'll teach me to check both my wallet and my order...
