Mountain peak
Massif de la Clape is a natural reserve in Languedoc-Roussillon, offering diverse landscapes from vineyards to garrigue scrub terrain and forests of oak and pine. The area features flat plains, plateaus, and rocky outcrops with stunning views over the Mediterranean. It's a great spot for hiking and biking with moderate to rugged trails.
A wonderful area, peaceful, arid, and green. Walks can take hours depending on your endurance levels as they interlink. There is a fabulous viewpoint from the watchtower which can be accessed by foot or bike. In winter you rarely meet others so it can be a fabulous place to sit and write, meditate or simply enjoy the tranquility. The terrain can be a little rugged so good hiking shoes help. Parking is available and free in various locations. No water available.
Solange S — Google review
The Massif de la Clape is a mountainous area of about 15,000 Hectares, between Narbonne and the Mediteranean Coast at Narbonne Plage, Gruissan and St Pierre La Mer. There are a few roads across the area but the best way to see it is to park the car and walk. One beautiful area to walk in is above the Chappelle Notre Dame des Auzils. Make sure that you wear stout shoes or walking boots as the terrain can be quite rugged, and also ensure you are carrying enough to drink as it can get hot and the area is very dry in the summer months.

Narbonne Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece built between 1272 and 1340, stands as a testament to the city's rich history. Although left unfinished, its impressive transept and soaring 40-meter choir, adorned with exquisite tapestries, are awe-inspiring. The cathedral boasts remarkable stained glass windows and ancient gravestones within its walls.
Narbonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur) is, without a doubt, one of the most breathtaking cathedrals in the world. If you are visiting the south of France, this masterpiece of Gothic architecture is an absolute must-see! From the moment you lay eyes on its towering, unfinished walls, you can feel the weight of history and artistry that went into its construction. The cathedral was built in the 13th century and remains an incredible example of French Gothic design. Despite never being completed, its sheer scale and intricate details make it one of the most fascinating and beautiful religious sites in Europe. Stepping inside, the first thing that strikes you is the soaring height of the nave. The ribbed vaults and grand arches create a sense of awe that is hard to describe. The stained-glass windows are simply stunning, casting vibrant colors across the stone walls and filling the space with an ethereal glow. Each window tells a story, and if you take the time to admire them, you’ll discover scenes from biblical history brought to life
Raquel S — Google review
Though relatively modest in size, the Narbonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur) leaves a lasting impression through its rich ornamentation and artistic treasures. Among its standout features are the exquisite gobelins—tapestries that add warmth and grandeur to the Gothic interior. The space, while not vast, feels intimate and regal, thanks to the abundance of decorative details and ecclesiastical jewels. It’s a hidden gem where scale is secondary to splendor.
Felipe B — Google review
Fantastic 13th and 14th century cathedral which is Narbonne's most prestigious monument and a major building in the Gothic style of southern France. Its construction was ordered in 1268 by Pope Clement IV, former Archbishop of Narbonne and advisor to Saint-Louis. It was dedicated to the young Spanish martyrs Justus and Pasteur. Its choir, the 5th highest in France, reaches over 41 m under the keystone, and the Gothic altarpiece (14th century) of the axial chapel is a masterpiece of European Gothic sculpture. The cathedral forms a unique ensemble with the Archbishops' Palace-Museum. It connects with the current city center, an essential place in Narbonne life where you can admire the 12th century Palais-Vieux building, the Madeleine keep built in the 13th century and connected by an arch spanning the Passage de l'Ancre to the Saint-Martial tower from the early 14th century. At the top of the south tower is the "Bourdon," a large bell weighing 5 tons. It was the only bell to escape melting during the revolutionary days of 1793. Around 4 p.m., the Saint-Just bourdon chimes its deep notes above the rooftops in memory of the plague epidemic that devastated the city in 1652. Despite various attempts, the nave of this cathedral was never completed; it was to extend for a hundred meters more. The cloister galleries are interesting as well to discover. On the upper floor of the Chapel of the Annunciation, in a brick-vaulted room, called "Chapter Room" features a square-shaped room covered by a brick dome that creates a curious acoustic phenomenon of sound propagation from one corner of the room to the other. Indeed, if you whisper in a corner facing the wall, you can be heard perfectly on the opposite side! The Treasury brings together pieces from the Carolingian period to the modern era: a 9th-century carved ivory Gospel plaque, an 11th-century Hispano-Moresque pyxis, the illuminated pontifical of Archbishop Pierre de la Jugie, the Flemish tapestry of the Creation circa 1500, as well as other exceptional liturgical objects that testify to the great wealth of the archbishops of Narbonne ! Finally, save your legs and your breath to climb the 162 steps of the magnificent spiral staircase. At 42 meters high, you will enjoy an exceptional view of the city of Narbonne, from the coast to the Pyrenees. The keep, one of the best preserved in the south of France, is a powerful square tower, at the corner of the Palais Neuf, built from 1295 to 1306 by Archbishop Gilles Aycelin, also an advisor to King Philip IV Le Bel. It consists of four rooms : the hemispherical room called Treasury room, the king's chamber and the defense room ...

Beautiful cathedral with lots to look at, and information in many languages available near the front of the church. We got tickets to the Treasury and we're not disappointed. On Saturday morning the organist was warming up and it was incredible, not sure if that is every Saturday morning, but to hear that organ was incredible.

Le Salin de l'île Saint-Martin de Gruissan, located near the fishing village of Gruissan, is a picturesque site where sea salt is cultivated in pinkish-hued lagoons. The presence of algae reacting to sunlight gives the water its unique color. Visitors can observe flamingos in the shallow pools and explore the small museum showcasing the history of salt production. Hand-gathered fleur de sel is available for purchase at an on-site boutique.
Ask for a tour guide and you wont regret it. An amazing experience. Try also to dine at the restaurant, we loved everything! At the end buy your souvenirs from their shop and tell your friends about this amazing place! Keep it up guys!!
JohnTsikoudakis — Google review
Salt Flats, there were flamingoes but rather far away. There is very little done to accommodate visitors other than parking. More signs would be great, perhaps a bench to sit on? Not just a dirt road going through the middle with no idea where it is going.
Pekka M — Google review
Le Salin de l’île Saint-Martin is one of the highlights of Gruissan. The salt marshes are stunning, with colors that change throughout the day, and you can learn a lot about traditional salt production. There’s a guided tour available, but even walking around on your own is enjoyable. The shop carries regional products, and the restaurant offers excellent fresh seafood and oysters right by the water. A unique mix of nature, culture, and gastronomy.
Adriano S — Google review
Beautiful place, but: - you cannot enjoy the whole views, as in fact you have access to a limited area - everything is too expensive: guided tour, goods in shop, meals in café. - no language options at the tour No wonder that many tourist park a little bit further and just walk to see the places without any payments. At this place everything is made to get money from you.
Yuri S — Google review
Beautiful picturesque scenic spot♥️ A must visit when at Gruissan. They also sell very fresh oysters starting from 8 euros per kg and fresh mussels starting with 3.5 kg euros, definitely recommend this place to buy shell fish as it's the cheapest & very fresh in the region. Also the person at the oyster counter is very kind 😊 They also have a restaurant and bar to try. Reachable by walk or car from the village
Sri N — Google review
A beautiful seaside industry of making salt from the Mediterranean. The adjacent restaurant serves typical seaside fare in a no frills atmosphere, with a no frills price.
Holly B — Google review
A beautiful area, although guided walks are only available in French. We had a great photo opportunity for free, followed by a practice run by Patrie France (French Red Arrows equivalent) from the balcony of the bar. The food in the restaurant looked great, but we weren't ready to eat, so a return visit is planned. Walk around Gruissan afterwards was lovely as the shops weren't too crowded.

We spent a wonderful day visiting the ‘salin’. The guided visit and the museum were excellent and very informative. Our guide Maxime was very knowledgeable and shared with us many insights regarding the salin, its history and operation. Recommended!

Château de Gruissan offers a must-do climb for breathtaking 360-degree views of the town, including the salt pans, lakes, stilt houses, port and marinas, hills, and the Mediterranean Sea. Sensible footwear is essential due to rocky and uneven steps. The tower itself is in ruins but provides an insight into the area's history through information boards in French and English.
You can visit this castle ruin for free. In wet weather the stones become very slippery. The view over the Etang and Gruissan to the sea is fantastic. It is also quieter here outside of the season.
Tassilo K — Google review
Worth a visit but not necessarily a must... Strong winds on top (which is great during summer) and a nice view of the old city and pink salines. It's free... so go up and burn calories!!

Nice old pirates nest. The view is really great. It's a bit walk n climb to get to the top, but it is worth it. The church on the foot of the hill is also worth a visit. On a hot summer day it's cool inside.

Absolutely stunning piece of history A lovely old fishing town still relatively undiscovered More for the mature aged person Relaxed setting beautiful little bars and cafes and fantastic market on Wednesday with a multitude of items to choose from Highly recommended but would love to keep it quiet to preserve the tranquility

Good view to see the nearby area from the top but make sure you have good shoes to walk up the steps plus stoned path...some parts a quite narrow just need to be caution as can be slippery if its wet weather!
PH P — Google review
Great views from the top but a steep climb in places.

A must do climb for amazing 360° view of Gruissan. You can see the salt pans, lakes, stilt houses, port and marinas and hills surrounding as well as the city and Mediterranean Sea. Sensible footwear is important and not really suitable for people with mobility issues as lots of rocky uneven steps. The tower is in ruins and you can see some other areas, but its mostly rocky outcrop. Information boards of the history in French and English. Their is some shaded area to sit and rest and a lower walk around the base.
Sheila B — Google review
The tower is a "Must-see" in Gruissan, just for the great views out over the town. The climb up to the tower is slippery, so it would be bad to go on a damp day. Hold on to the railing! there is also a nice trail that goes all the way around the base of the rock.

Le Petit Comptoir is a gastronomic activist that has been serving quality market-based cuisine since 1976. Located in Narbonne, this bistro offers traditional southern French cuisine and an efficient and attentive service. The restaurant also features a bar with a wide selection of wines. With vintage elements, it has maintained a loyal clientele over the years despite successive changes.
We weren’t too sure what to expect of the restaurant because of the old classic decoration and the restaurant was rather empty. We found the restaurant through Michelin guide and was worth the trip from gruissan to narbonne to eat there. The dishes turned out to be amazing, well served, very well prepared and worth every penny. Presentation of the all dishes was very pretty, we were four guests who ordered a 3 course menu.

An awesome restaurant in Narbonne, for an affordable price. Had a great dinner on a Saturday night there. Great atmosphere. The menu has many interesting options, and I went with oeuf parfait, then magret de canard and a crepe to wrap it up. Nice selection of wines by the glass, and the service was great.

We tried this restaurant that is mentioned in the Michelin guide and were pleasantly surprised. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were warm and friendly. It was a great experience and we would definitely return to this restaurant.

The beefsteak was very juicy! The turbot fish was perfectly pan fired that the skin is chewy and flavorful. The mix veggie sauté is divine 😍 Friendly service, OK environment

Excellent restaurant/brasserie - we were so impressed, we went twice to try different dishes. Photos show carpaccio of wild prawn with Moscow Mule dressing, braised sweetbreads with truffle potatoes and veal jus, duckling with roasted grenaille potatoes. Dinner menu at €37 is a great bargain for food of such quality and invention. The wine list is very extensive, largely regional. There is also a good and constantly changing selection of wines by the glass. Service is friendly and very professional. A real pleasure.

Restaurant
La Petite Brasserie is a charming traditional restaurant that offers generous homemade cuisine bursting with character. Nestled in a cozy space accommodating just 20 guests, it provides an intimate dining experience. The welcoming atmosphere extends to the outdoor seating during pleasant weather, making it perfect for enjoying delightful meals al fresco. Guests rave about the delicious offerings, including standout dishes like fish burgers and octopus, which showcase the culinary creativity of this husband-and-wife team.
La Petite Brassiere is an absolute gem in the charming town of Gruissan. It's run by a husband and wife (the husband takes orders and helps the customers while the wife does the cooking!). The husband was especially sweet and helpful despite our lack of French. We ordered the charcuterie to start, followed by prawns served with tagliatelle and the fish burger. All three dishes were superb, and the prawns were the freshest we've had in Europe! The fish burger comprised a tasty and unique combination of flavours, whilst our young kids had a juicy beef burger and frites and fish and frites (both of which were cooked to a very high standard). We ordered ice cream for dessert which we loved but it was a difficult choice as ALL the options looked incredible. Most amazingly, the dishes were not overly expensive despite the excellent quality. The location of the restaurant, which sits on a street corner, was also ideal. We luckily enjoyed some live music by a local band that marched through the streets. Overall, we had an exquisite experience in terms of service, quality of food, and ambience. It's definitely our best meal in Gruissan by far!
Denise L — Google review
Very nice small restaurant. We had excellent gambas & the fish burger which were both of high quality. The menu is small but there are daily specials too. The service was great too super friendly & attentive. Probably best to book as it gets super busy.

An amazing restaurant on a pedestrian only street serving fresh and delightful seafood. The two servers who tended our table were SO nice and helpful with our limited French capabilities. I felt it was very reasonably priced for the quality of food, freshness, ambiance, and service! I can only hope to return to Gruissan and also La Petite Brasserie one day! Merci bcp!

We had the veal and prawns, both special dishes, not on the regular menu. They were both fixed very well with fresh and local ingredients. Great place to have a lunch. The only disappointment was that they do not have a sea view, but the food was awesome

Chapel
Nestled between Narbonne and Gruissan, the stunning Massif de la Clape is a natural gem that offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. This limestone mountain range, part of the Parc Naturel Regional de la Narbonnaise, features fantastic hiking trails, including one that leads to the enchanting Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Auzils. Built in 1080, this chapel stands as a remarkable testament to history and spirituality amidst its picturesque surroundings.
Visited twice in September 2016. The walk up is steep, but passes through Le Cimetiere Marin, so plenty to see and explore on the way up. The chapel itself is dedicated to the seamen of Gruissan with many interesting paintings and artifacts. Well worth a visit. If you are feeling particularly energetic continue the climb on to the plateau above, and walk the many paths on La Clape, but make sure you have plenty to drink with you on a hot day.

This afternoon we visited Les Salins de Gruissan, also known as “the pink lake”, a striking natural area stretching over 300 hectares between land and sea. With its vivid colors, salt pans, and wide open skies, it felt like stepping into another world. • The site is famous for its fleur de sel and oyster farming, and we got to taste the best of it at La Cambuse du Saunier. We sat outside with a perfect view of the lake, soaking in the scenery while we tackled an impressive amount of seafood. We then sampled the duck confit. It was tender, flavorful, and confit with salt harvested right there. Paired with a glass of chilled white wine, it was the kind of lunch you do not forget. • Though the wind was a bit chilly, the only real drawback was the crowd. The energy felt more rushed and less personal, which took away a touch of the magic. • Still, the setting was stunning, and the food alone made it well worth the stop.

We had been looking forward to this restaurant. Recommended by friends. Pleasenly overlooking the salt pan. We booked for Monday lunch. It was already quite busy when we arrived. We were quickly seated, given menus. The waiting staff appeared well organized and friendly. Our order was taken. I ate a couple of starters. The Oysters were gorgeous and quite salty. The moules in chorizo were OK, I would have expected a more fried Chorizo though. I was rather disappointed with the Cassoulet. Yes it's a dish that can be prepared before and reheated to serve. The Cassoulet had all the ingredients, I expected a deeper thick sauce and not such a watery sauce. Some of the ingredients were a bit on the cool side, the sausage in the Cassoulet had definitely not been heated through. My wife found her main couse of chicken encased in salt, not to be encrusted in salt and its texture suggested it was reheated from the day before.

The most wonderful setting, sitting in front of the salt evaporation ponds. The decor and attention to detail is wonderful. The service was very friendly and efficient. The oysters were incredible! The goats cheese salad was tasty and generous. The mussels were good even if the sauce was not my favourite.

Very nice location by the salt marshes, the view is stunning. Food is pretty expensive. I do not recommend the chicken in a salf crust that was extremely dry (that was one of the rare option for those who do not like seafood). It seems a known issue though.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in town. The food is great and you get to see the salt farm and go to the shop. We arrived at 3:45pm and the restaurant had shut, but they were still serving fruits de la mer and Fries and drinks so we stayed and had that. If you want the full menu be careful to arrive from 12:30-3pm or book in advance. The fruits de la mer and fries were delicious though!
Jack S — Google review
Beautiful setting for lunch and a nice atmosphere but this was completely ruined by the terrible service. We waited 1.5 hours for our main course and were basically just completely forgotten about whilst other tables that had arrived after us got their food before us. We complained & there was no apology and the waitress didn’t look bothered. I sense they have an air of arrogance because of the setting and so feel they don’t need to worry about the level of service, which is a shame because it ruined our lunch and we won’t be returning. Judging by the reviews on here we aren’t the only ones to experience this so I would think twice before going. There’s plenty of better fish restaurants locally that provide a much better level of service so avoid this place and try somewhere else.

We reserved a table with friends, the location is very beautiful! There was a dj playing live music, a lot of people but nice atmosphere. The food was delicious, and they serve it very quickly. One remark: watch out where you park you car, because we saw a few cars standing inside the like lake, due to flood:-)

Go during sunset for drinks or dinner. But don't expect service to good. We booked for dinner for 7 pax to celebrate a birthday, despite booking they gave us 4 seater table which made no sense. After saying we need a proper table and wait 10 mins they offer it to us. Food was good and drinks are good, price is good too. Make sure to reserve and ask for the viewing seats but good luck with that.

Nice location, good food, friendly service. Could have been 4-5 stars. However they allow people to smoke inside. While eating people are smoking at 1 meter next to you. Feels like going 20 years back in time in a bad way.

A very impromptu decision to come for late lunch on a moules hunt. The frites were a little oily and not as crispy as they might have been but the moules were great. Lovely aspect overlooking a small lake with a sailing club attached. Would definitely come back.

Les Halles de Narbonne is a lively food market located in the heart of Narbonne, France. The market offers a sensory experience with its abundance of fresh produce, regional delicacies, and artisan goods. Visitors can explore stalls featuring local cheeses, meats, seafood, and more, reflecting the Mediterranean influence on the region's gastronomy.
The market is a delightful hub of local flavors, brimming with fresh, vibrant fruits and an array of artisanal cheeses. The vendors are exceptionally warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. One of the best aspects is the opportunity to sample products before making a purchase, allowing you to discover unique tastes. However, adding a dedicated corner with tables and chairs would enhance the atmosphere, providing a comfortable space for tourists to savor their lunch and fully immerse themselves in the local culture.

Super great market full of locals. We came to Narbonne for the grand buffets and and spend some time here on the Sunday. The market has plenty of bars and is pleasantly not to crowded. The breakfast options are endless. Some locals have wine and cold meat platters and others cheese platters or croissants. Many come here to buy there bread and vegetables and then have food in one of the many bars. Absolutely recommended to have a wine with locals and practise a bit of french whilst test the local snacks and wines.

La Perle Gruissanaise is a must-visit spot at the far end of Plage des Chalets in Gruissan. It offers a range of water sports activities such as beach volleyball, wind or kite surfing, sailing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. The location where the pond meets the sea provides breathtaking sunsets and an opportunity to savor mussels, oysters, prawns, and whelks with friends over a glass of white wine.
An amazing location, with the opportunity to choose your choice of freshest seafood. You order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. It’s not normal restaurant service and a bit quirky for the uninitiated, but who cares for fresh fish like this.
Francis B — Google review
Basic but brilliant seaside restaurant/ or seafood to take home. Very popular with Great selection of oysters, mussels, crab and gambas. We sat outside in a massive area I assume is full in summer but as we are late in the season and had arrived just at closing time for the restaurant there were few people eating. Big line up of people taking away though. House rose is great and the staff were very friendly.

Amazing place with outstanding seafood. We visited La Perle 5 times on our vacation, and tried both the restaurant and the sea food shop. Fantastic Moules with Roquefort sauce and oysters were our favorite. Really friendly and professional staff, and the most epic view from the restaurant.

La Perle Gruissanaise is an absolute gem and deserves every bit of praise. The seafood here is incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and clearly handled with great care and passion. The staff are warm, attentive, and always happy to recommend the best choices depending on the catch of the day. The atmosphere is relaxed yet authentic, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a long meal with family or friends. Prices are fair for the quality, and you truly feel like you are experiencing something local and special. I would happily come back here again and again whenever visiting Gruissan.

Extremely fresh and delicious seafood. Lost one star because of the very limited fish selection at 8pm when we had dinner. Difficult to rate service since it's partly self-service, but it's well organised and the staff are very helpful and friendly. A very basic yet authentic dining experience in a beautiful spot.

Unfortunately, this location got worse over the last years. We loved to come here to enjoy the fresh food. Now it is overcrowded and made for mass tourism. You have to queue long to order food, wait until you can pick it up when you waiting number gets called out over speakers (which is very disturbing). The warm dishes are often run out just a bit after opening and they are the same year after year without efforts. It’s very sad.

Choose raw fresh fish or shellfish and sit outside by the water, watching the boats while eating. Very much a "build your own picnic" but making no apologies for that.

The electricity kept going off, both the outside and inside main pools were closed with chlorine problems, they were cleaning the "lazy river" pool with some horrendous chemical that gave us all headaches and meant the lifeguards sat outside it was so awful. Overall a pretty terrible experience. Some of it out of their control but a lot of it fully within. No apologies for the chemical smell though there was a discount as only 40% of the place was open. (Translated by Google) We stopped at this restaurant based on the comments and I can only confirm for my part. Restaurant located in the middle of a campsite but with a very beautiful “panoramic” of course 😊 It is better to have a menu with a few dishes but perfectly executed rather than a menu with 50 dishes but all botched or missing for x reasons. This restaurant is “simple” but does it very well. The taste is very present, you see as soon as you put it in your mouth that it is homemade and prepared. And what could be better than a restaurant where the budget is largely respected and where you leave satisfied. I take my hat off to the manager who we were able to exchange a few words with and who is very pleasant. And to the young waiters as well as the main waitress who are very kind and who do everything to ensure that it goes perfectly, and it did. It's nice these days to see restaurateurs who go out of their way to ensure that you leave satisfied. (Translated by Google) Tested last night for the first time, I enjoyed the starter. On the other hand, I find it a shame to be by the sea and to be served frozen fish, accompanied by industrial aioli. In addition, I would like to point out that rice pilaf is not rice cooked in water, and that an assortment of vegetables cannot be limited to a few carrots accompanied by onions all bathed in salted water. Very friendly staff and fast service. Plage de la Vieille Nouvelle, also known as Gruissans Vieille Nouvelle Beach or Salins/Salines beach, is a hidden gem characterized by its natural beauty and tranquility. This untamed beach stretches over a mile and is popular among kite surfers due to its windy conditions. The clean, clear waters and fine sandy shores are bordered by preserved dunes, creating a wild and unspoiled ambiance.
If you have to visit one beach only then go here. Clean, sandy, clear water beach away from the crowded areas. You can spend hours here and not get bored. So I’ve been only to the crowded beaches so it was refreshing to find this beach. There are some others in this area. Took us under 2 hours from Toulouse to reach here. Definitely a place to spend nice weekend/holidays. Plenty of parking places from where you have to walk for couple of minutes to reach the water. The only con I can find is that there are not life guards around. No commercial area close-by and some big machines making noises in distance. But one forgets everything when looking at the silky smooth sand and clear water. Highly recommend to visit.

I was pleasantly surprised that the showers had warm water considering it was only €22 per night. I’ve paid €50 at another place with freezing cold water. The hidden gem though was the bar/restaurant. Although not accommodating for coeliacs, for which they profusely apologised for, they knew that Dipmomatico Rum should be served in a warm glass and their homemade sangria was just divine. If I’m ever touring this way again I would gladly stop here by.

Handily situated for Gruissan village but otherwise not great - chaotic management of pitches (we were allocated a pitch which was already occupied, not once but twice!); small pitches; no hard standing so by end of summer it is bare dirt which is fine for motorhomes but not so great for tents. Showers were nice and hot.

Update: Very Disappointed. Since posting my original review, the manager has responded in a way that further highlights the underlying issues with this campsite, most notably, a lack of professionalism, integrity and respect for his customers. It’s no surprise the staff seem disengaged when this is the tone set from the top. I have a time-stamped email reservation from the campsite, all clearly stating that check-in is after 2pm and which was shown to the receptionist. When we arrived and found the office closed, how exactly could we have "harassed" the receptionist, as the manager claims? That accusation is not only unfounded but completely absurd. To be clear, the restaurant staff were excellent friendly, helpful, and a credit to the site. Unfortunately, they are the exception, not the rule. If the manager spent even half as much time addressing legitimate concerns and investing in much-needed upgrades to this run-down campsite, instead of deflecting criticism and responding with ego, they might start to turn things around. Either that, or perhaps it's time to consider a different line of work. My original review. A Disappointing Experience From the moment we arrived, the experience was underwhelming. The receptionist was shockingly unprofessional—rude, openly complaining about her hours, and clearly uninterested in helping guests. Not exactly a warm welcome. It’s apparent that management is either absent or ineffective, as the staff seem untrained and disengaged. The campsite itself is tired and poorly maintained. Repairs appear to be slapped together in a DIY mishmash that barely holds up. Even basic upkeep like grass cutting has been neglected. Facilities are extremely limited and in need of regular cleaning. The only sources of drinking water on the entire site are the cold water tap in the laundry room or the motorhome serve point —hardly convenient or hygienic. There is an evacuation notice in case of flooding with no plan showing where to go to. A clear reflection of the manager's values and inability to do the basic minimum i.e. looking after his customers interests. In all honesty, the entire site feels like it’s been left to deteriorate. It’s in desperate need of proper management, a motivated team, and maybe even a bulldozer. Until serious changes are made, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

A very busy site, even when we visited in September, though it still had room for us. A convenient site, situated a few minutes walk from the town, and the other way a few minutes walk from the salt plains. The pitches were pretty grass less and sandy as expected from the area and high usage. The pitches are flat, but don't have hedges to delimit them. Possibility of people walking across your pitch to get to the loos. Two wash blocks, one closed because of end season, but why, the site was almost full? Water was nice and hot. Bar restaurant on site which seemed quite popular
Steve T — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience at this campsite was far from enjoyable. The staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, which set a negative tone from the beginning. The pitches themselves offered no shade at all, making it uncomfortable during the hotter parts of the day. The overall maintenance of the site is very poor—grounds were unkempt and facilities looked neglected. Drinking water was not easily accessible, which was frustrating, especially in warm weather. The pitches were also quite small and cramped. Adding to the discomfort, the campsite is located right next to a busy and noisy road, making it difficult to relax or sleep. The showers were old, poorly maintained, and in a condition I would describe as unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a comfortable or pleasant outdoor experience

Loved town but campsite let's it down need to up there game for motorhome s only one water tap for site which you have to hold button in this takes ages for 120 liters. it says barriers will close at 10 pm cars driving in after 11pm need to water hedges like site we are on now on med coast upgrade toilet blocks to modern standard asked to buy ice at bar told no French lady got a bag full !

Booking process was easy. Our confirmation email said to arrive on Sunday 22nd June, with an arrival time of 2.00pm. We planned our journey and arrived a few minutes after 2.00pm to find the office shut until 3.00pm. We managed to access the car park, I tried telephoning but to no avail. The temperature was 35° so we waited by the office in shade. At 2.45 the door opened, we went in, to be shouted at by a male member of staff. He gestured very aggressively to get out. We waited the 15 minutes and tried again. The female staff member apologised for the time error, but I was upset by his manner. We went to our emplacement and as we were still setting up our caravan in a small space we left our car in the emplacement next to ours. The same man came in a van and gestured and we think asked why our car was there. Again, very unfriendly and impatient. We obviously moved our car onto our small emplacement where it stayed. The emplacements around us remained empty, and a suggestion would be to let visitors park next to their own when the site is so quiet. We had virtually no shade, (no 13 was our allocated emplacement) and the heat was very difficult to cope with. The bar staff were very friendly, made an effort to converse with us and improved our impression of the site. The location was excellent. However, the welcome and lack of shade meant we never felt totally at ease, and we left a day early.

Location, location, location! Short walk into 'town'; longer to the beach. Located between a quiet marina and a road but not a very busy one. Level pitches with limited shade. As other have said the facilities are dated - but they are clean. What nobody mentioned it that just 2 min drive (20 min walk) are the salt pans AND - Pink Flamingos!!!

- Europcar is charging 87 euros for a file cost regarding a damage on the car (light scratch on copilot door not even visible on normal picture) under a contract with premium óption covering full damages - Such mandatory cost is not visible on the web when Europcar shows the benefits on the premium coverage, so the company in it’s marketing process is showing non true Information on the web - The delivering process of the vehicle has not been clear to the client. The keys where delivered and the agent considered not necessary to review the vehicle with the customer as the premium full damage coverage was taken. So no pictures where taken at the departure of the vehicle and no review was done, the customer believes no charge are possible in case of damage as the full damage coverage is purchased. - When the vehicle is returned the agent makes signing the customer electronically , in a rush , on a mobile terminal when checking the car without showing the document to be signed and without any explanation about the document by the agent - Europcar is carrying out a sales cycle of the premium full damage coverage informing that no cost will be charged , not explained by the agents, and shown as “Zero Euros” cost on the conditions shown on the web when selecting the coverage option. Therefore false information is provides to the customer - The company replies to the complain stating that the signature of the customer on return implies acceptance pf the damage (signature point mentioned before) - Europcar should consider that the damage could have been realized during or not the period of rental due to the non professional process of delivery of the car - The full damage coverage policy marketing and Information process by the agent shares non true information, as in the end the customer is charged for a concept directly related to the damage (called file cost but could be called with any other concept), the consequence is the customer has to pay an amount of money for a damage under a full damage coverage - All in all an awful experience due to a non professional procedure of the company, where some points are completely abusive towards the customer and where false Information is shared by the company in the marketing process. The company should be ashamed. - i dont trust Europcar anymore, the company has lost a customer, probably not important to the company after seeing the reaction in all the claiming process, even through the company claims “satisfaction of the customer is our priority” ,not close to reality in the operation of the company

If you're planning a trip to Narbonne and need a reliable car rental service, look no further than Hertz Location De Voitures - Narbonne. This conveniently located office near the railway station offers an impressive selection of modern vehicles, including eco-friendly options like the Renault Clio hybrid. Customers rave about the friendly and efficient staff who provide clear explanations of costs without any pressure to purchase extras.
My experience of using Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar has not always been this good, but this office is superb. Have now used them three times and, given that my wife and I just bought an apartment in Narbonne and do not have a car, will probably be doing so regularly in the future. Efficient and welcoming staff, an absence of the dreaded hard-sell extras (they are offered, but not pushed if you decline), good location, and the most up-to-date car models (the Renault Clio hybrid was a joy to drive). Full marks, will be using them regularly.

Plage des Chalets in Gruissan is a fine sandy beach with clean and spacious shores, making it perfect for families to enjoy. The gentle slope of the beach allows for a pleasant experience, and the water is good for swimming. Despite occasional strong winds, it's an amazing place to relax by the Mediterranean. The nearby chalet village adds charm to the area, although some iconic chalets from a film are no longer present.

The chalets, former fishermen's houses, are recent (20th century). Overall, however, everything seems very unkempt and makeshift. There are no paved roads between the houses. Some chalets are in poor condition. We didn't want to vacation there. The sandy beach is fine, but it was quite crowded during our visit. The parking lot is in terrible condition. There are too many potholes. It's also very narrow, as some visitors park as they please. Nestled just a short five-minute drive from Gruissan Village, Plage des Chalets is a stunning beach that boasts a unique charm, thanks to its iconic 1,300 chalets perched on stilts. This picturesque setting not only offers breathtaking views but also fosters a relaxed atmosphere where families gather for barbecues beneath their huts. The beach itself is expansive and slightly wild, perfect for those looking to enjoy nature while still having access to lifeguards who ensure safety along the shore.
A huge natural beach and out of season you are almost alone here. Some are in the water, some are sunbathing and others are setting up tables and chairs and eating oysters. La vie en France.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful beach! A bit wild. There are lifeguards who walk along the shore and keep watch constantly. The bathrooms, however, are dirty, and some had broken sink drains. The sand is incredibly soft and perfect for building sand castles. The water in August was cool and clean. The beach is truly enormous. It gets quite busy, especially in the afternoon, but there's plenty of space. There's ample free parking; we always found a spot in August. The only major flaw: there are no showers. We had to fill bottles in the bathroom to rinse off. Anyway, I recommend this beach for sand lovers. (Original) Bellissima spiaggia!

Plage de la Vieille Nouvelle, also known as the "old beach," is a vast expanse of sand that undergoes a transformation by the wind, creating rolling dunes. (Translated by Google) Plage de la Vieille Nouvelle is a beautiful, spacious beach known for its unspoilt nature and tranquility. Here are some points to consider when making an evaluation: Advantages: Naturalness: The beach is surrounded by dunes and protected natural areas, which creates a very beautiful and natural atmosphere. There are no or only a few buildings directly on the beach. Spaciousness: The beach is very long, so the visitors are spread out well and it is not crowded even in high season. Clean water: The water is often described as clear and clean, ideal for swimming. Fine sand: The sand is fine and light, pleasant for lying down and walking. Peace and relaxation: Due to the low number of visitors, it is an ideal place to find peace and relaxation. Kitesurfing Spot: The beach is known as a good spot for kitesurfing as it is often windy. Naturism: Naturism is tolerated on this beach. Disadvantages: Difficult Access: Access to the beach can be difficult, often via unpaved paths and lengthy hikes. This could be a problem for families with small children or those with limited mobility. No facilities: There are no or very few facilities such as toilets, showers or restaurants directly on the beach. Visitors should therefore be well prepared. Wind: As it is a popular spot for kitesurfing, it can be windy, which not everyone likes for sunbathing or swimming. Swimming is not recommended in strong winds. Possibly restricted car access: During certain periods, car access may be restricted or even prohibited. Conclusion: The Plage de la Vieille Nouvelle is an ideal place for nature lovers, those seeking peace and quiet and kite surfers. Anyone who values a pristine beach without much hustle and bustle and is willing to accept somewhat difficult access and a lack of amenities will love this place.

ACROMIX is a thrilling adventure destination that offers a variety of activities for families and groups. The place has garnered mixed reviews, with some highlighting the lack of staff and safety concerns during birthday parties. However, visitors praise the friendly atmosphere and the engaging experiences such as laser games and treetop adventures. The escape game stands out for its unique approach, providing a tablet for solving puzzles at various locations instead of being confined to a room for an hour.
This place is wonderful, but very lacking in staff which makes it a nerve racking experience for parents. Whilst, the owner maybe think everything is super cool he needs to listen to the reviews and address the lack of staff and safety issues for birthday parties. Tiki was amazing and the children loved him, but he was being taken advantage of ! The customer service level in réservation is diabolical, the preparation of the tables for the birthday parties awful and my child "present" was broken. Drinks offered under whelming. But, the park itself and location is amazing! Thank you Tiki.

(Translated by Google) From the moment we arrive, the tone is set: access to the site is via a narrow, very stony path along the edge of a cliff, with only a metal cable to "protect" us from the drop. This is already dangerous for children, the elderly, or any school group, and absolutely not suitable for families. Once there, there are no clear signs to help you find the reception area, which gives an impression of disorganization from the start. The equipment is aging, sometimes rusty, and along the way, several people in our group injured themselves or bumped into things due to protruding nails, unclear markings, and poorly maintained structures. I was personally injured by a rusty nail driven into an abandoned structure (as seen in the photo), placed in the middle of a walkway, a few inches from a picnic area frequented by children. My jeans were torn, my leg grazed. And if a child had fallen on it, they could have been seriously injured. The staff offered no apologies, and one instructor named Phill simply told me I was "overreacting," comparing it to falling on a rock. Their attitude was casual, their tone inappropriate, and their professionalism completely lacking. Supervision is also almost nonexistent. While it's self-guided, no staff are present on the courses, even in the event of a blockage or difficulty. I myself was stuck at a height for ten minutes, without any instructor noticing. Overall, everything gives the impression of a poorly maintained, poorly supervised, and dangerous site, where safety is clearly relegated to the background. This is extremely regrettable, as it could have been a great time. I strongly advise against it, especially for children or group outings.

Plage du Grazel is an unassuming sandy beach located in the harbor, featuring a small, narrow islet just off the shore. The beach provides a wild charm with beautiful pink colors and the sound of gulls in the background. Visitors can enjoy a pleasant walk towards Mateille pond and appreciate nature's fragile beauty.
Nice little clean beach for a morning stroll, but very windy today. No one else their. The sea along the beach has lots of debris and sea weed and looks very scummy and rocky in places so dont know how good it would be for swimming in. The bird island runs parallel and the noise they made was a lot. Life guard station for the summer and open toilets to use. You can see the port entrance in the distance and the island with stilt chalets. Their is a tree lined promenade to walk along on the way back with plenty of places to sit and rest. Passed a few open cafes on the way and plenty of vehicle parking very near the beach.

Beach
Chalets Beach is a great spot for families with its shallow waters extending over 200 meters, making it perfect for kids. The clear and wide sandy beach offers various services including drinks and ice cream vendors. It's an ideal place for beach sports like volleyball and rugby. This beautiful beach also provides stunning views and the town nearby is interesting for tourists. Additionally, visitors can enjoy peaceful walks around the deserted area in October or explore the nearby wetlands.
A very good beach, especially for kids: the sea is not deep over 200m, but the water is a little cold for those who love warm water. However, all s very nice and clear. The town is interesting for tourists.

Lovely beach This beach is in the same time typical and special. Typical beach of this area : large stripe of sand in between the sea and a salted water lake. Specific because of the wooden houses on stilts (so-called "chalets") aligned on the verge of this beach which gave its name to the beach.

Beautiful beach - I went in October and it was absolutely deserted. Awesome for walking around with no one in site. Near the beach are some nice wetlands.

Pretty good beaches off season, but not enjoyable in July and August. Limited to foot showers, no public toilets. Bring your own water and snacks !

Art museum
Espace d'art contemporain - Poulet De Gruissan, located in Gruissan, France, underwent redevelopment by the town hall in 2022. It now houses offices and an exhibition space. The renovation included refreshing the walls and clearing the large room of partitions. While it is a beautiful exhibition space, there are concerns about poor lighting and uneven programming. Visitors can enjoy interesting exhibitions with diverse artistic offerings and even have the chance to win works through a competition.
