Villa Aldobrandini is a 17th-century villa and garden located in Frascati, offering stunning terraces, fountains, and picturesque views of the valley. The property is renowned for its art-filled interiors and hosts various events. Situated high above Rome, it provides a spectacular venue with historical charm. The well-reconstructed buildings offer comfortable accommodations within walking distance of the historic center of Frascati.
Monumental buildings but not at it best in late November. Impressive row of holm oak made an impression. Would love to visit when the water attractions was in play

Lovely place. I am a bit sorry that we could not see the gardens and the villa I side but apparently there are still people living there. It is a bit hard to find the entrance because there many private property signs and there was nobody to give us some information.

Nice view of grand villa. Tourists are allowed only up to the gardens at the front of the villa.

Amazing place! I will go back soon! ❤️

Simply stunning. It's hard to believe this is still a private residence and not some sort of government building or museum, as many of the old villas have become over time. This is Roman opulence at its finest. It's worth taking the bus trip from Rome to Frascati just to peer through the gates. The surrounding town is steeped in equal amounts of history as the villa, so it's a wonderful day out
Titus A — Google review
Although you can't enter the villa itself, the grounds are definitely worth exploring. Make your way behind the villa and you will find some lovely fountains and sculptures. Then keep going up the hill towards a very large park. From the front of the villa there is a great view of Rome in the distance.

Unfortunately the villa was not open for visit. The building is beautiful but could use some maintenance and a new paint job. Nice view over the valley up to Rome and the vatican!

Res Castelli Romani is a captivating destination that has evolved significantly since the arrival of the railway in 1856, which connected Rome to Frascati. This development marked the beginning of a new era for this picturesque area, once celebrated for its serene hills and charming towns. Over time, however, urban expansion has transformed it into a bustling locale with a population surge from 40,000 to 300,000 residents.

City park
Villa Torlonia, located in Frascati, boasts an exquisite villa surrounded by lush greenery and captivating water features. This tranquil haven offers the perfect retreat for relaxation even during scorching hours. Visitors can bask in the serenity by sitting on benches or reclining on the grass, indulging in rejuvenating naps or peaceful meditation sessions while admiring mesmerizing views.
Wonderful green area. Perfect for some picnics with friends or family, great for just walking around with friends and enjoying the green itself
Fardeen J — Google review
Villa Torlonia is a small park in Rome where Benito Mussolini lived. Nowadays it has been transformed into a Museum Park; I suggest a visit to Casina delle Civette and to the theatre inside. You can have a walk among beautiful palm trees that have been saved from the Asian red weevil (punteruolo rosso) by the municipality.
Luana — Google review
A lovely little park, with great cover if you want to have a cooler walk. Some areas taped off as it clearly needs a little maintenance, but okay on the whole. The view across Frascati and beyond is good, but surprisingly there is little seating at the edge of the park where the best views are. However, definitely worth the few minutes walk from the centre of Frascati to stroll and enjoy the view.
Andrew B — Google review
One of the best villas in Frascati where threes and fountains makes this place one of the most relaxing place where you can have a nice fresh rest even in the most hot hours of the day. I spend most of my day there where you can sit on the bench or lay down on the grass and get a nice relaxing time where you can have a nap or do your meditation or just enjoy the view and the amazing green around you. Late in the afternoon family and teens make this place noisy and full of life and you can really enjoy the positive vibes of nice families around you. The main fountain offer a nice view where you can sit an watch the water games which they can fill your day just to look at it. I'm very happy to come here as much as I can. Really recommend if you can have the chance to visit it.

Osteria San Rocco Piacente is a charming restaurant located just outside the rampart walls of the ghost town of Celleno, offering a focus on local Tuscian cuisine. The restaurant is known for its authentic food and handmade pasta, with dishes like self-made gnocchi and delectable 'meatballs.' Visitors can also enjoy the house wine while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
Absolutely fabulous place with authentic food and handmade pasta. After a hectic few days in Rome, getting out of town and eating at a more local and less touristy place was exactly what we needed. Food and service were spectacular. Prices were wonderful as if local. House wine was fabulous. 5 stars would highly recommend.

A fantastic cozy restaurant with amazing food. The actual seats are 1 and 2 floors down, so don't go here if you are after the view. Go here for the food. Everything we ordered was great.
Ardalan — Google review
Sadly, we had a mixed experience for dinner here a few weeks ago. Service was a bit sketchy, but friendly and anyway the delays are understandable on a Saturday summer evening. Good wine. The quality of the food however was so so: small, soggy deep-fried courgette flowers; good tagliolini with pecorino cream; meatballs with scamorza soaked in pecorino cream and so hard they were not edible. Gorgeous location, I would go back just for the lovely outdoor dining experience, not for the food...

Ristorante Trattoria Pizzeria al 19 is a must-visit spot in Frascati, offering a wide range of local Italian delicacies including antipasti, pizza, pasta, and steak. The outdoor setting provides a beautiful backdrop for enjoying top-notch pizza with fritti, ham, and buffalo mozzarella. The restaurant's breathtaking view over Rome adds to the dining experience.
This was a fine night out, we were treated to a vast range of local Italian delicacies both meat and poultry as an extended anti pasta and then were treated to pizza, pasta and steak in an unrelenting stream of generosity from the kitchen. Wine and water flowed during the meal and was finished with home made tarts and tiramisu. If you are ever in Frascati, try this spot. Not to be missed.

This is a very nice restaurant, though also very big. The waiters were really nice and friendly. The atmosphere felt autentique and comfortable. We ordered pizzas and pasta and it was really good. The pizza was the thin and crispy crust variation. On top of it all, everything was cheap. I reccommend to make a reservation.

Best Pizzas ever. We did wait a bit for our Pizzas but our starters came out quickly so happy to wait. They were well worth waiting for. Every table outside was occupied and atmosphere was great. Chairs outside were uncomfortable to sit on.. this is our second visit and didn’t disappoint.

The food was delicious. We eat beef based dishes, pizza and pasta. All was good. The house wine is excellent (white and half dry). You must try! The staff is friendly. Some speak English. Nevertheless we could understand very well.
Florin S — Google review
We decided to go here after seeing some very good reviews and craving pizza, it was a last minute decision so we didn't have a reservation and were prepared to wait. We tried to ask for a table in Italian, and the front of house hostess rolled her eyes when we said we speak English. She spoke to someone we assume is the owner or head chef who agreed to fit us in, and he took us to a table in a room to the side. We didn't mind this as we were grateful to get a table. When we were shown our table, the owner/chef removed a reservation paper which was on the table. Before we were fully settled, one waiter placed menus on the corner of our table and before we'd even had chance to pick them up, another waiter who was chewing gum asked to take our order. When we asked for a moment to look at the menus he rolled his eyes and walked to the other side of the room. We ordered a starter which arrived within minutes of us being seated. This didn't seem alarming as it was a basic bruschetta. However, before we were even half-way through our starter, the side dish which we had explicitly requested to be with our mains turned up, and we were told "pizzas are on their way". We still had half of our starter left. By this point it was absolutely clear that they didn't want us there and that we were an inconvenience. As soon as our starters were finished, the plates were removed and replaced with our main pizzas. Throughout the short time we were there, three waiters kept coming into our room and looking over our shoulder to see how much we had left. This happened every couple of minutes. Towards the end of our meal, another table was seated next to us, and the waiters had a totally different attitude towards them, and couldn't do enough to help them choose what to order. This table had longer to choose their drinks than we had to sit down, order our entire meal, and consume our starter. As you can see from the attached screenshot, we were in the restaurant for around 40 minutes, from asking for a table to attempting to pay the bill, but being ignored by the front of house waitress who takes the card payments, but was too busy answering phone calls to look at us. She didn't even acknowledge that the payment had been completed successfully, instead she continued to take calls and we had to interrupt her to confirm payment had been taken. This is all a great shame as the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated and the quality of the food was decent. Had we been given more respect and time and space to enjoy our meal it would have made for a pleasant evening, however we were back in our hotel room (which was 10 minutes away), 1 hour after we'd left it initially. The whole experience was regretful, we would rather have been turned down and had to find somewhere else for dinner. Never before have we been treated in such a way, it was incredibly uncomfortable to be watched constantly and made to feel as unwelcome as we were. We had no option but to rush our meals and get out of there because it was ruining our night. We each ended up leaving around 1/3 of our main pizza because of how full we were from rushing straight into mains from the starter.

Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, located just north of the Colosseum, is a minor basilica with a rich history. It is dedicated to St. Peter and houses Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses, commissioned by Pope Julius II. The church was originally built over the tomb of St. Peter and has undergone significant architectural contributions from renowned artists such as Bramante, Raphael, and Michelangelo himself.
San Pietro in Vincoli (Saint Peter in Chains) was a deeply memorable stop for my wife and me during our time in Rome, blending powerful history with remarkable art. Originally built in the 5th century to house the relic of the chains that bound Saint Peter during his imprisonment in Jerusalem, the basilica holds these sacred chains beneath the main altar—revered as a symbol of Peter’s faith and resilience. The church itself is serene and modest in comparison to some of Rome’s grander basilicas, but it holds one of Michelangelo’s most breathtaking masterpieces: the monumental statue of Moses, part of the unfinished tomb of Pope Julius II. Michelangelo’s Moses is famed for its lifelike detail and the striking expression on the prophet’s face, complete with the distinctive horns drawn from a mistranslation of the Hebrew Bible. Standing in front of such an iconic work, surrounded by centuries of faith and history, made for a powerful and unforgettable experience.

As I stood in the hallowed halls of Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli, the majestic sounds of the organ enveloped me, transporting me to a realm of spiritual connection. The music seemed to bridge the gap between heaven and earth, and I felt an overwhelming sense of unity with the divine. The intricate carvings and stunning architecture of the basilica added to the sense of awe, but it was Michelangelo's breathtaking sculpture that truly stole my breath. The way the light danced across the single block of marble, expertly carved to bring forth a masterpiece, left me speechless. In this sacred space, art and faith converged, and I felt my spirit soar.
Ramona I — Google review
Very underrated church! From outside, it looks unassuming and not like a typical church building. But inside are two of the most interesting things: chains of Apostle Peter and Michelangelo's Moses! Near a building, there is a nasoni - a public drinking water fountain.
Natalya M — Google review
The Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, located in Rome, is most famous for housing Michelangelo’s renowned statue of Moses, which forms part of the unfinished tomb of Pope Julius II. This masterpiece, admired for its lifelike detail and powerful expression, is considered one of the greatest works of Renaissance sculpture. The basilica itself was originally built in the 5th century to preserve the relic of Saint Peter’s chains, which, according to tradition, were the very chains that bound the Apostle during his imprisonment in Jerusalem and Rome. In addition to its artistic and spiritual treasures, the church also serves as the burial site for several popes and cardinals, making it a place of both religious and historical significance.

This church is best known for housing Michelangelo's statue of Moses, part of the tomb of Pope Julius II. Michelangelo's Moses (completed in 1515), while originally intended as part of a massive 47-statue, free-standing funeral monument for Pope Julius II, became the centerpiece of the Pope's funeral monument and tomb in this, the church of della Rovere family. Moses is depicted with horns, connoting "the radiance of the Lord", due to the similarity in the Hebrew words for "beams of light" and "horns". This kind of iconographic symbolism was common in early sacred art, and for an artist horns are easier to sculpt than rays of light. It's a must

Chiesa del Gesù, consecrated in 1584, is the mother church of the Jesuits in Rome and a significant example of Baroque architecture. Designed by Giacomo della Porta, it features the first Baroque facade in Rome. The church's interior is lavishly decorated and includes a striking three-dimensional ceiling fresco.
Chiesa del Gesù is a truly awe-inspiring sanctuary where art and spirituality intertwine in the most breathtaking way. Upon entering, you’re immediately struck by how the walls come alive with vibrant, masterfully executed artworks that infuse the space with energy and beauty. Each mural and fresco is a testament to the creativity and devotion of its creators, transforming the church into a dynamic gallery that invites both contemplation and wonder. The intricate details of the paintings capture both historical narratives and spiritual symbolism, offering layers of meaning to explore at every turn. The interplay of light and color enhances the overall ambiance, creating an atmosphere that is both uplifting and deeply serene. It’s clear that every brushstroke was thoughtfully placed, contributing to a harmonious blend of art and faith. This remarkable fusion of sacred tradition and contemporary artistic expression makes a visit to Chiesa del Gesù a unique and enriching experience. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a history buff, or someone seeking a moment of peaceful reflection, this gem is sure to leave a lasting impression. A solid 5-star experience that celebrates beauty, culture, and spiritual depth.

Absolutely stunning baroque church! The ceiling frescoes are breathtaking, and the detail everywhere is incredible. A must-see in Rome, and surprisingly peaceful compared to other big sites.
Michael P — Google review
Ideology and religious conviction apart, this place is jaw dropping. I believe it is the most decorated church I have ever seen. Interestingly enough the outside is quite austere. As you step into it you are drawn to to a surreal world of ornaments, relics, and illusions. Can you believe how sophisticated the overhanging panels are? They provide such a unique 3D illusion that's supported by panels covering the church ceiling and even shaded area to accentuate the effect. The two small chapels on both sides of the main nave are really conducive to introspection, reflections and dare I say spiritual connection? If you are into art, architecture and can abstract faith from religion, this place will leave you in awe.

Beautiful church with incredibly art inside. Also contains relics from St. Francis Xavier. I recommend anyone into architecture and art go here. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Please respect the holy area.

I am not a religious person but I came here to visit the beautiful Chiesa del Gesu, it is absolutely awe inspiring and beautiful. I would recommend coming here respectfully and enjoying the splendour of this place. It must truly be a pleasure to worship here.

Just a few minutes from Piazza Venezia, the Church of the Gesù is the mother church of the Jesuits and a masterpiece of early Baroque art. Built between 1568 and 1584 by Vignola and Giacomo della Porta, it became a model for countless Jesuit churches around the world. Inside, the single wide nave and the rich decorations reflect the spirit of the Counter-Reformation. Don’t miss the stunning ceiling fresco, The Triumph of the Name of Jesus, by Giovanni Battista Gaulli (Baciccio) — a dramatic illusion where angels and clouds seem to burst through the ceiling. On the left, the Chapel of Saint Ignatius of Loyola dazzles with marble, gold, and precious stones. Each evening, a short light and sound show reveals the statue of the saint, a must-see for visitors. The Gesù perfectly captures the Jesuit vision: faith expressed through beauty and emotion. Whether you’re an art lover or a pilgrim, this church is one of Rome’s most inspiring stops.

It is the main church of the Jesuit Order and a model for Jesuit architecture worldwide. This is a beautiful and quiet church with an incredible ceiling. You can’t help but admire the ceiling. The church was built in the late 16th century, largely funded by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese. Its single-nave layout became a defining feature of Baroque church design. The ceiling features Baciccio’s famous fresco, The Triumph of the Name of Jesus, celebrated for its dramatic illusionism. The entrance is free

Breathtaking. Take your time. Sit and ponder the Divine and Man’s need to recreate it on Earth. Chiesa del Gesù is a magnificent Baroque church in Rome, rich with stunning frescoes and intricate decorations. The grand altar and ceiling art captivate visitors, creating a powerful spiritual atmosphere. It’s a must-see for art lovers and those seeking a glimpse into Rome’s religious history.

The Villa Torlonia is a historical park in Rome, Italy. It was originally built by the Torlonia family during the 19th century, and it became the residence of Benito Mussolini in the 20s. The park has lovely buildings (now museums, exhibition spaces, and theatres), including the Casina Delle Civette, an Art Deco building. The Villa also has a bunker where Benito Mussolini lived.
4 separate buildings in the cumulative ticket - 1 wonderful villa with stunning interiors and Roman paintings from 1930 era, 2 contemporary paintings/art gallleries, 1 pictoresque "arabic" building - all in a park, very interesting to see, not crowded
Ari F — Google review
A noble estate, now a public park, in the heart of Rome’s Nomentana neighborhood, owned at various times by some of the city’s most prominent families. Definitely worth a visit for the Casino Nobile and art exhibits. During the Fascist era, it was ‘lent’ to Mussolini and for WWII era history buffs, it is interesting to see. On the weekends, with advance reservation, it’s possible to visit the bunker built in the war years which was the site of a 1st century tomb. The Owl House as well as Serra Moresca are noted for their unique architecture. Great museum to visit, with no crowds.
Joyce T — Google review
Park and casinos are beautifuly restored and nice to explore but the artwork is not impressive when compared to other villas in Rome. Entry tickets are expensive making the trip not a great value for money in comparison to quality of art on display.

Well maintained villa turned into a museum that Mussolini lived in for awhile. Overall worth the visit if you have an extra day in the city but it wouldn't be prioritized over the main key attractions of the city.
Jozef W — Google review
The museum of Villa Torlonia, in Cassino Nobile, the main building in the park, was built in the early 19th century for the wealthy Torlonia family. It is an elegant Neoclassical mansion with stucco decoration and richly adorned interiors but the exterior is currently being renovated so is covered with scaffolding and cloth. The top floor at this time, houses an interesting art exhibition from the Roman School. From 1925 to 1943 the villa served as the official residence of Benito Mussolini, who added air-raid shelters beneath the property. You can visit the bunker but be aware you’ll need to book a specific timeslot, which you can do online or at the Villa. I went in the morning without booking and the only time left that day was 4pm so I shall have to go back another time. The park is easy to get to on the 62 bus or you can walk from Porta Pia in about 30 mins. It’s best value to get a combined ticket for the 3 or 4 museums in the park which costs a few euros more than a single entry.

4/5 stars because the postcard selection in the gift shops is rather poor :( THE BUNKER CAN ONLY BE VISITED ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS WITH AN ADVANCED RESERVATION! There are several museums in this park so I recommend the ones you want to visit beforehand. Each building charges a separate entrance fee (but there is a combo ticket). I think it’s only worth visiting all of them if you qualify for some sort of discount. Otherwise, pick one or two of the buildings/museums to explore and just enjoy the park.

Authentic Cantina with locally manufactured wine. Absolutely worth paying a visit while in Frascati. It is located not far from the city centre and the bus station (just all the way up the stairs). Hospitable owners and locally produced fresh wine. Visited the place several times and always recommend it to whoever decides to visit Frascati. Would love to come back one day!

Great tour of the winery followed by a wine tasting of two white and one rose wine. There was a charcuterie board consisting of two sheep cheeses including a pecorino. There was a local salami and speck. Also a vegetable pie. The wines were delicious and the grounds are beautiful. Good day trip from Rome. It's a half hour train ride and a seven minute taxi ride to the winery.

My girlfriend and I booked this winery visit towards the end of our most recent Roman vacation. We normally go to a winery or two when we are in Italy so we wanted to do something after experiencing some local wines at a dinner we had at a very well-known restaurant that works with a lot of small local wineries. Upon making the booking Giulia called me to see if we were able to come a little earlier than we had booked. We did as we had built a day like this into our schedule. And we couldn't have been happier we did. We arrived via Uber to the winery and we were greeted by a very cheery Giulia and a gorgeous and very friendly Achille (her dog). This place a must-do if you are looking for a day trip out of Rome. Its very close to the cute city of Frascati (also a great place to stop in). Merumalia is not only a beautiful winery, but a gorgeous resort, with some amazing picturesque views of the surrounding areas. Giulia is amazing. She is so lovely and such a great host. If you are super into wines, especially organic natural wines, she is an encyclopedia of information. We learned so much and came away with such a new appreciation for what these farmers and winemakers do. The wines were amazing. This area is more known for its whites, and they did not disappoint. They also make a delicious dessert wine and a tasty grappa. She brought out some local meats and cheeses and paired them with olive oil they also make on the grounds. Everything was top-notch and of the highest quality. We actually went to Frascati to find the cheeses that we were served as they came from local producers as well. Can't thank Giulia and Achille for being amazing hosts and for the incredible experience. Highly recommend.

We stayed 3 nights here during our two month road trip around Europe and it was the only leg of our trip where we slept like we were at home. The place is extremely peaceful with stunning views of the countryside. The beds and pillows are of top quality and sooooo comfortable (and well surpassed every other bed we slept on in the past 2 months - even several 5 star hotels!). The owners treat you like you’re family and brought us breakfast and snacks for our one year old son every morning. Our son had a cough during our stay and the owner brought us honey and homeopathic syrup (without us even asking). My only regret is that we didn’t stay here for a longer stay and rest/relax and drink more of their delicious wine and enjoy the company of the very friendly owners.

Non sto qui a specificare ogni dettaglio, ma voglio, per mia giustizia, che qualora artisti di qualsiasi genere si volessero avvicinare a questa galleria per lavorare , teniate presente questo mio post. Che schifo

(Translated by Google) Agarte - Fucina delle Arti is something precious and full of emotions. What distinguishes this place, which tells of art, experimentation and love for this whole world, is undoubtedly the professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication, in a world where all this often does not come to the surface. I recommend anyone to enter this place, which is not just an art gallery, but a place of meeting and discussion for anyone who loves art, and even for those who have never approached it. Kindness and professionalism, a guarantee.

A magical place that is not afraid to mix the old and the new, the classic and the contemporary expression. In the center of Frascati, well positioned, it is a must for enthusiasts and a pleasant discovery for anyone who happens to be there.
