Grand Massif Domaines Skiables is a sizable ski resort located in the Alps, specifically in Samoens, France. It offers over 265 kilometers of ski runs and experiences above-average snowfall. The resort is suitable for skiers of all abilities and is easily accessible from Geneva by car or public transport. Additionally, it features ski touring routes and is family-friendly with free skiing for children under 8 years old.
Beautiful, huge ski area 😍 The people are very child friendly and helpful. You are always greeted in a friendly way, with a smile. Very well organized 👌✌️
Manuela F — Google review
The place is really beautiful, especially the flaine side. Amazing, with those views to Mont Blanc. Nice runs, if the snow is good then the ski experience is top. There were lots of people in the first week of march but we didn't have to wait for more than 5 min in any lift. Lifts are a bit slow I would say, but not a big deal. I really recommend this resort. Attached is a video of a black run, really fun (there is tons of blue runs also for a chilly ski)
Ramón M — Google review
Nice easy access to telecabine up to main ski area. Quite a lot of other lifts closed when I was there due to wind which cuts off access to the wider skiing areas of Flaine and makes return to Samöens difficult. However there is an excellent free bus service if you get stuck at other areas such as Morillon. So no need to panic!
Peter S — Google review
Amazing place to spend your days. A bit crowded on holidays, but there's still a lot space to play.
Joshua S — Google review
We stayed with our family in Samoëns in August. A lovely town with lots going on in the summer. A very good market and a lake nearby with lots to do. The views alone are worth a visit and the mountains are all around you. Trips to Geneva and Chamonix are possible as well as nearer attractions. Lots of walks locally too.
Evelyn M — Google review
The slopes were fantastic. It was icy initially but it snowed heavy for 2 days and made the skiing conditions great. Can walk out of the club med hotel and onto the slopes. Brilliant
Kandan L — Google review
What a gem this place is. Stayed in Les Carroz, but also skied Flaine. Would highly recommend it for new to intermediate skiers. I'm hoping to be lucky enough to visit again in the future.
Jason A — Google review
Great resort for all abilities, close to Geneva and easily accessible via car or public transport. Ski canons provide snow coverage even in the worst of seasons. A number of ski touring routes are now open in all villages which are great. Also very family friendly resort with under 8 year olds ski for free!

Located in a stunning Septimontain chalet on the Petit Chemin de La Cour in Samoens, La Table de Fifine is a top-notch restaurant offering gourmet and contemporary cuisine that celebrates fresh, seasonal ingredients. Whether you're a connoisseur of exquisitely prepared dishes or a wine enthusiast, this elevated eatery promises to satisfy your palate. The restaurant is highly esteemed for its exceptional culinary offerings. In addition to its French fare, it also serves up delicious pizzas.
My daughter got married in Samoens recently and following the Civil Wedding at the Mairie 30 of us went to La Table de Fifine for a lovely lunch to celebrate the happy event. Victor and the team looked after so well. We had the facilities to ourselves and the fire created a cosy atmosphere and was very welcoming. The set menu we had agreed prior was superb, the cooking and presentation was top quality. The service was professional and attentive. Wines we had chosen beforehand with Victor was complentary and worked well. Credit where it is due! Thanks.

Our second time here and the whole experience was again excellent. Great veggie and gluten free choices. Lovely ambiance and super helpful team. Will come again
Simon B — Google review
We have been three times to this restaurant in the last 3 weeks. We have come with 12 guests each Thursday and we have had the best time each week. The service is very good and the food is so fresh and delicious. The restaurant decoration is very Alpine and they have an extra room in the back where you can sit with a big group. We had a selection of different food and the quality of the meat is fantastic and so is the cheese fondue. Great wine list and we loved their cocktails. Thank you very much for everything. Very tasty food; our group had lots of different dishes, but some of the standouts would be gazpacho and baked ravioli dish. In terms of value for money, it was more on the expensive side, but can recommend it nevertheless!
Lelde — Google review
Beautiful chalet setting, with friendly and welcoming service, great company and beautifully presented, incredibly creative dishes and extensive wine menu. Really enjoyed our dining experience here and look forward to revisiting during our next Samoëns summer vacances!
Jolene N — Google review
I ordered a main course of veal shank and the meat was so over-cooked that I left two thirds of the meat on my plate. I showed the waitress how dry it was when the plates were being collected and she told me that she would inform the chef. I naively believed that would result in the bill being adjusted, however, when I received the bill it was for the full amount. I would expect any decent restaurant which values its reputation (and which can tell whether meat is dry or tender) to voluntarily offer a discount. I ended up speaking to the maitre d' and offered to pay for half the dish (I thought this was generous) however, she only offered me an €8 discount off a €28 dish. She insisted that she had tried the dish in question before and that it was delicious and she wouldn't listen to my arguments that perhaps my version of the dish was over-cooked but hers wasn't. There was no apology from any member of staff and the, in my view, unsatisfactory discount I had to fight for was given reluctantly after a heated exchange. Not the standards I would expect from a fine-dining restaurant. I am sure many people will have a good meal here where all dishes are cooked well, however, if the measure of a restaurant is how they treat their customers when they fall below standards then La Table de Fifine falls well short and, in my view, should be avoided.
Will A — Google review
We had a really lovely evening at the Table de Fifine. The decor was amazing with beautiful old beams, large spacious wooden tables or cosy eating areas giving privacy if one wanted. The kitchen is open onto the eating area and you can watch the chefs cook the dishes. The staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Fiona F — Google review
A fantastic restaurant. The “centrepiece” dish is undoubtedly the steak served on hot volcanic stone, but the starters (example pictured) and the dessert were where the real art was displayed. A great choice of wines to go with the food.

One of the most beautiful gardens. In terms of the diversity of trees and different plants, as well as beautiful and diverse roses, it is also a pleasure to walk in this very beautiful garden.
Mahmoud ( — Google review
One of the most beautiful botanic gardens I've seen. Laid out so naturally, including areas like an alpine meadow. A little bit wild but that's clearly intentional, as the gardener was editting the self-seeders when we were there. Plants are still labelled pretty well, which is great. It has an occasionally steep but smooth path to the top plus some brilliant off-the-beaten-track routes through some areas. And a few seats along the way for a breather, and views out to the mountains. Such an inspiration!
Bulverhythe B — Google review
A beautifully maintained botanical garden showcasing plants from many regions across Europe and the Middle East. Suitable for both young and old, with scenic mountain views along the walking paths.

Lake
Lac aux Dames, nestled in the heart of the Giffre valley, offers a picturesque setting surrounded by mountains. Whether it's witnessing lively fishing competitions in spring or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere during summer, this leisure center is a must-visit. Accessible by car, it provides ample space for relaxation and various activities such as archery and a children's park. The lake's beauty is accentuated by its surroundings, making it an ideal spot for picnics and leisurely walks.
These two lakes are very beautiful, as you will see in the attached pictures. Close to the village of Samonis. You will also see golf playing inside the lake, which is very strange. This is the first time I have seen such things and this view. As shown in the pictures, you will see a roundabout inside the lake. This is for golf. Of course, the two lakes are surrounded by very beautiful scenery

Do not depend of the tourist office for any help. We were told we didn’t a bus reservation by them. They knew we were waiting outside. The bus never came, we asked inside. They tell us “oh, we had to reserve and the next bus is in 8 hours”. Extra note: they were very very rude.

Good Supermarket. Can be busy when the slopes are closing, but they have a very decent range of goods. Especially the Fish department seems nice. They have tastings.

Has everything you will need if visiting for skiing. Be warned if you are make the trip on foot from Samoëns there is limited to no footpath which makes it a treacherous and somewhat dangerous walk at night. Nice bonus is the sports store next door if you need any forgotten/additional ski items.

We went there without much expectations. After all, a super market is a super market, we thought. But they had a beautiful produce section, a great bakery, and a huge selection of wines at good prices. We loved going there while we spent a month in Samoens.
YK K — Google review
Really don’t like this place. The refrigerators smell, they are rarely fully stocked with the standard items ( no fresh milk and wasn’t expected for 3days!). Thought the renovation would improve their presentation, but the dust and dirt is still there under the shelving even though they are finished. Not a hygienic way to sell food at all. Go to Super U instead.
Helen P — Google review
The only supermarket option other than the very small 'metro' option in the town centre. Barely any choice of fresh fruit, veg or herbs and lots of empty crates where most of the choice should have been. Somewhat rrdeemed by a decent wine selection and duck confit at a good price
Jonathan S — Google review
Good local supermarket. English section has improved so now includes pg tips and three fruit marmalade. Bakery is fine.Fish very limited. Butchers ok and now has some cooked meals. Much better selection of everything further down the valley in super u taninges.
David C — Google review
As a resident of Samoens i cannot understand why this supermarket is getting worse after all the negative feedback it has had in the last year. The final straw was the empty shelves (again) after Christmas. Christmas is on the same day every year, during the busiest time of the season. Why are the shelves empty after Christmas when you know that demand is going to be at its highest? And when you ask for something the answer you get is usually a shrug of the shoulders and 'I don't know'. I now drive the extra 15 minutes to super u in Taninges - better stock, more checkouts open, friendly staff. I know a lot of residents are doing the same and it is just the tourists who don't know any better. But carry on like this and will this shop still have a future? The really sad thing is I know that this review will just go in the bin and nobody will take any action.

We stayed in Samoens for five nights and dined at Restaurant Le Sérac twice. Although we would have liked to eat there more often, it tends to get very busy. The owner and staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. On our first visit, they were able to fit us in as walk-ins and made us feel very welcome. Nestled in the heart of Samoens, Brasserie Restaurant Le Savoie is a delightful spot that caters to both locals and visitors alike. Open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM, this charming bar and restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring hot and cold snacks like sandwiches, burgers, lasagne, omelettes, and crepes—perfect for refueling after a day on the slopes.
It is a very nice restaurant, there is very tasty food, the stakes were incredible and an ice cream with the special cream was also the best 😍

Decent restaurant, no reservations so if you're at peak time might be risky (and there's a lot of tables squeezed in here). The meals were pretty good but portion size was small. Our visit probably made worse by a very loud table drinking nearby.
K2 — Google review
In the centre as part of the village square this brasserie has a large outdoor seating area and ample indoor space. Popular with diners it didn’t lack custom… but it lacked something. Compared to the many French restaurants we frequented during vacation there was a lack of warmth or atmosphere here. It felt like any other busy street “cafe” and the food was at best quite average. The burger meat nothing special, the brioche bun disintegrating after two bites, the steak chewy & accompanied by an “curry-esque” tasting sauce that wasn’t pleasant. If all the places we ate this last fortnight, this one we’d skip returning to. Sorry guys!
Naomi G — Google review
Great food, the only negative point is the waiters, as soon your main is served, you are forgotten. We waited to get our water bottle, waited to order dessert, waited to get our chartreuse. They are so in a rush that they forget to smile. Positive point; the barman, a blond tall guy. You've been fantastic! Lovely restaurant decor, and lovely food. Perfect

Very excellent restaurant in the middle of Samoens village. The place and location are very beautiful. The service is very excellent and the food is very delicious, especially the hamburgers. If you are in the area, you should choose this meal. Also the employees are very nice

Cinéma Criou is a charming and authentic cinema with comfortable seats, despite its slightly outdated appearance. Visitors appreciate the warm welcome from the cashier and reasonable ticket prices, especially for seniors. The single screening room adds to the unique experience, where the film is introduced by the person selling tickets. Its presence as the only cinema between Samoa and Morillon makes it a valuable asset for locals and visitors alike, providing a welcome change of scenery.

(Translated by Google) After seeing a few films in this cinema, I can finally give my opinion. I would say that the room retains the charm of the period and that there is a real pleasure in being there to see a film. But the trouble is that it's double or nothing because also keeping the seats of the time, a long film can make you drool. For example, after watching a film lasting about 3 hours, I and my team found ourselves turning around in our seats due to lack of comfort. However, I can only recommend it for the experience. Ps: if the film is not too long you can go there peacefully (Original) Après avoir vu quelques films dans ce cinéma, je peux enfin donner mon avis.

Cinema fans will appreciate it. (Original) Quel plaisir de voir qu'il existe encore des cinémas autre que les "boîtes à projection" sans âme ni histoire. (Translated by Google) Very good fondue (we chose the Comté, Vacherin, Ayze fondue). Very good charcuterie (optional plate) but too much vinaigrette on the salad for my taste (often the case in restaurants). On the other hand, we mistakenly took nuggets for our daughter from the children's menu: to be avoided; prefer the good old chopped steak. Regarding desserts, the tornalta cup is delicious and the chocolate mousse (included in the children's menu) is very good even if a little too compact.

As someone who is very passionate to try new experiences wherever I travel I must say that Hydrogene Sports gave me the best memories of France. Flying over/close to the beautiful mountains of Annecy and watching the stunning lake Annecy from above was unforgettable. Sebastien is very professional and did the job well. He made sure I was safe and comfortable throughout the whole flight. As someone who is physically challenged, he handled me well. He is very knowledgeable and explained to me the story of every mountain. I must agree with Seb, France is one of the most beautiful countries in the world after my beautiful Peru of course. Pointe d'Angolon is a breathtaking destination that promises stunning views along the ridge. The journey to this picturesque point involves navigating a steep path, where you'll encounter a short technical section equipped with cables for added safety—ideal for those who are not afraid of heights. While the descent towards Lac du Nylon can be slippery and steep, the effort is undoubtedly rewarded by the magnificent scenery that surrounds you.
Great walk with an amazing view as the reward. Quite difficult route, not suitable for young children or for a hike during rainfall or soon afterwards. It includes quite steep ascents and the ground can be slippery. As a recommendation I suggest to take the hiking trail at your right, as soon as you leave the parking terrain besides the water. It will take you to a ledge with a view on the Mont Blanc, which will become more visible during your climb.
