Bräustüberl Tegernsee is a traditional alehouse offering homestyle Bavarian cuisine in a spacious setting with a beer garden and picturesque views of the lake. It provides an authentic experience of Bavarian culture, serving regional specialties in a cozy atmosphere. The menu features hearty dishes such as Schweinshaxen and crispy schnitzels, accompanied by delicious beer specialties brewed in-house. This establishment is renowned for its dedication to showcasing the best of Bavarian cuisine and beer culture.
Large restaurant serving traditional Bavarian food at a very reasonable price. The food was tasty and the beer was really good. Had lunch today and it was full, but the service was still fast. Highly recommended.
Miguel S — Google review
Very busy and apparently popular place. Nevertheless, service was friendly and fast. The waitress went an extra mile to explain differences between sausages despite her limited English. Thank you, Sabine! You deserve a bonus! Strongly recommended when visiting Tegernsee.
NZAURUSS — Google review
Definitely the best place to drink one of the best beers in the world from the pipe that comes under the building directly from the factory next to the brewery, at a super decent price 🍻 Typical Bavarian atmosphere, with exceptional beer and local food. Thanks to the Duke of Bavaria who keeps this tradition going and the waiter Nelu who maintains the wonderful atmosphere 🙏
Mircea H — Google review
The food was amazing! The staff handled our large group of 12 very well and the service was fast. You could not sit inside without a reservation so we sat outside where it was very cold and they would not turn the heat on because the inside has to be full first. But the inside would not fill up because it was reserved for later times so we just used the tiny, very thin blankets on the benches. There were so many bees 🐝 (yellow jacket wespen) constantly around the table and it made us very nervous!
Jeszi P — Google review
Busy place, but service was impressively fast and friendly. Our server went the extra mile, even letting me taste a dish before ordering. Ended up with the tartare (€18.50) and it was amazing—every penny well spent!

We amazed with the service and food quality, it was so good and value for money, we would come back here again. Plus, since we dont understans German, the staff was very helpful and very kind to us

Best food in Germany I love it portions are big apfelstrudel is hot vanilla sauce is really a nice touch to it 10/10 definitely coming here again
Kranthi K — Google review
Delicious German specialties in a lovely corner of Tegernsee. If your appetite isn’t too big, you might pass on the sausages, but everything else is truly worth it, especially the Apfelkiacherl, the traditional Bavarian apple fritters, which were an absolute highlight.

Sauna
Spas & Wellness
Day spa
Health spa
Monte Mare Seesauna in Tegernsee offers a variety of sauna and wellness facilities for visitors to relax and indulge. The unique Sauna-Boat Irmingard is a standout feature, providing direct access to the lake with the stunning backdrop of the Bavarian Alps. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and respectful, with clean and well-organized spaces. Guests can enjoy excellent food at the restaurant, which also offers alternative milk options.
This is one of the best sauna / spas that I have visited. The ship sauna is a lovely experience, with the movement of the boat and the sound of the waves. Be warned though, this is one of the hottest sauna rooms in the complex. There are a variety of other sauna rooms, a steam room, foot baths and a heated outdoor pool. You can also cool off in a plunge pool or, better yet, the beautifully clear waters of the lake. The lake was on the cold side in late October, but it makes a lovely contrast after coming out of a hot sauna. The aufguss experiences were excellent. If you have not experienced these before, the Saunameister placed balls of scented ice or together with a selection of scented water on the coals, giving a calming and relaxing experience. The air, now even more heated by the steam, is then wasted wafted around the sauna to distribute an extra hit of heat. Only sit on the top level if you are confident you will be able to take it. The website is a little bit complicated if you are not fluent in German, but basically they recommend that as well as booking the amount of time you want to stay, that you also pay EUR 5 to reserve a starting time slot. I had no issues turning up without a reservation Monday - Thursday, but you will 100% need to reserve for a Saturday or Sunday. I got caught out on the Friday and didn't reserve, thinking that mid week was fine without. However, when I checked at about 1pm, all slots had gone. Inside is clean and nicely done, with a restaurant and some inside solariums as well as outdoor loungers. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, one of the other guests mistakenly picked up my bathrobe, which was mine and not one of the spa's - all white robes look very alike, I guess. They lent me another for the rest of my stay and said they would look for mine when they did the laundry the following morning. I had my doubts, but sure enough they found it and called to let me know. So if you are able to label your robe with a clip, or something, that would help avoid this situation. I would definitely recommend this sauna and would happily come back. For international visitors, swimming costumes are not permitted in the complex, including the pool,, although you must wear a robe in the restaurant. You can cover up with a towel in the sauna if you are concerned, but there is really no need. No one is looking. Just relaxing.
Robin C — Google review
The spa itself is truly wonderful stunning scenery with the lake and mountains, and overall a very relaxing experience. I would definitely come back. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the interaction I had at the front desk. The staff member I encountered was quite rude and raised her voice when explaining how to exit and return the watch, which left a negative impression. Aside from that, everything else was excellent.
Rodrigo “ — Google review
This sauna has an amazing way to make money, to book a slot to enter during the weekend 5€/pp and to send the confirmation email 1,25€ on top of the ticket to enter. Having a sauna in front of a lake is definitely a good cash cow. The sauna itself? Very crowded, well maintained.
Alan F — Google review
We went for lunch. Really nice open restaurant. Nice staff. Good food. Service is slow.
Viraj D — Google review
It’s hard to put the Monte Mare experience into words… what’s so special? Is it the incredible view? Is the the vibe of the chill local guests? Is the clean and cozy spaces? I think above all it’s the people. I’ve rarely seen a sauna with incredible staff putting their love into the reception, restaurant and most importantly the sauna rituals. The amount of energy and good vibes Chris is dispensing with his latest Australian ceremony is mind boggling. I deeply appreciate the work and passion every single SaunameisterIn at Tegernsee is putting into their craft. Thank you all - you are creating a truly special place on this planet.

I am part of the Munich Tech Sauna community (techsauna.dev) and we have visited the Monte Mare Seesauna in Tegernsee a few times in summer already. You can easily reach it without car from Donnersberger Bruecke in Munich to final stop Tegernsee in about an hour plus a short 5-10 min walk. This sauna heaven is located in the nicest area of Bavaria and right at the lake Tegernsee - after a hot sauna infusion you can step outside into the cold lake. In summer, you will want to swim a bit around and grasp the sheer beauty of the mountains that surround the lake. When it comes to sauna infusions - I still remember an amazing Wenik Aufguss with leaves, music and great chats and laughter in the sauna. 2 rounds, lake, and another two rounds - really amazing. There is also a Panorama Sauna (lake / mountain view), steam bath and several smaller / not so hot saunas. Whirlpool, full restaurant/bar, etc. Perfect combination: go for a cycling tour around the Valepp (Tegernsee, Valepp, Spitzingsee, Schliersee and back to Gmund and then Tegernsee) and round it up with a few hours in the sauna before you head back to Munich.
Sven ( — Google review
Although the covid-19 has made everything different now but still this is great place to go out for a nice trekking experience. You can enjoy walking along the lake and having coffee and other snacks. Really close to Munich which makes it even more easily accessible for a lot of people.
Tahir R — Google review
Such a wonderful sauna in Bavaria. The facilities are extremely clean and well maintained. The boat sauna and having direct access to the lake are great perks of visiting this particular location. The Aufguss sessions are among the best I’ve ever attended. I like how much music was incorporated into the ceremony. The restaurant has great options for vegans and vegetarians.

Mountain peak
Riederstein is a popular destination in the Tegernseer Valley, known for its picturesque hiking trails and stunning views. The mountain offers various hiking routes with different levels of difficulty, making it suitable for both casual strollers and experienced hikers. Visitors are advised to wear appropriate footwear, especially during winter when there may be some icy patches along the way.
We got a cloudy day, but the climb (hike) is absolutely amazing. Good place for beginners.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful hike with different levels of difficulty. There is a path with steps up to the Riederstein Chapel and a path around the outside over hill and stone. The path over the stairs is very well embedded and you quickly gain height. Safe route - also suitable for children or older people. The general ascent is possible either via a gravel road (easy path) or across the forest over hill and dale. After about 3/3 of the way you pass the hut. Very nicely located with a great view. Now during Corona Lockdown times there is a self-service with drinks and some chocolate to strengthen you!

Art Museums
The Olaf Gulbransson Museum Tegernsee is a must-visit, showcasing the cartoons and political satires of Olaf Gulbransson, a Norwegian-born caricaturist who lived in Tegernsee. The museum features a wide range of exhibits, including works by Gerhart Richter. It's centrally located in the Kurpark and offers an insightful look into Gulbransson's contributions as the main caricature artist for the renowned satire magazine 'Simplicissimus.'
Very interesting museum for an artist that is less known than he probably should be - Olaf Gulbransson. If you are like me and didn't know him by name - maybe you will be more interested to find out that he was the main caricature drawer for the famous satire magazine "Simplicissimus" in the early 20th century, for which he did over 2400 drawings in a period of about 40 years. The museum exhibits some of his caricatures and paintings, has a small room with 2 films (each about ~10 minutes long) about his life and personality and some explanations and historic timelines detailing the Simplicissimus magazine as well. In addition to this permanent exhibition there is a special temporary exhibition featuring other artists - currently it features about 80 artworks of famous German artist Gerhard Richter. The gallery itself is clean and modern, most parts are barrier free (there's an elevator) - and so are the toilets that are easily accessible for wheelchair users as well. What we would have liked would have been more explanations about the artworks, especially for the Gerhard Richter exhibition. Even the books available inside were more or less just catalogues but not adding more context. Nevertheless, this is not taking away that this is a really worthwhile gallery to visit. The "Zentralparkplatz" parking lot is directly adjacent and if you drive to the back portion of the parking lot (the one with gravel/sand), it's only 10 meters of walking to the building entrance. Admission prices were €12 per person. Keep in mind that this gallery belongs to the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen, so if you have a year ticket to the Pinakothek in Munich, it will be valid here as well! We were really happy to have visited this gallery and can only recommend, even if the artist is a bit special and less known.
Oliver F — Google review
Liked the collection a lot, but it was super loud as they were preparing for some after-working hours activity, we were asked to leave 10 minutes before closing and the sound of tiny space where chairs were being pulled and dragged and placed was really unbearable. We enetered the museum an hour before closure and paid full price and could not enjoy the exhibition at all. We were told repeatedly that they are closing soon. This is something that I did not expect in Germany - the preparations should take after official working hours or they should charge less, but the charging full price and carrying out such loud preparations at the same time is unacceptable. Otherwise our experience would have been great.

Tegernsee Phantastisch in Kreuth offers a one-of-a-kind indoor playground experience with two distinct halls: Tegernsee World and Tegernsee Magic. The modern and captivating environment is perfect for families with children of various ages, offering a range of activities such as slides, virtual fishing, climbing, trampolining, and more. While some attractions have specific age or height restrictions, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
We fully enjoyed the visit. The place is new, modern, everything looks interesting and great, we were with 3 and 10 y.o kids, and for both it was a pleasure. We bought 1.5h ticket, but I would buy next time longer ticket, I think it’s better, to enjoy all activities without rushing. Restaurant looks great, but we didn’t tried it, it’s in the play area, I was thinking it’s not possible to eat there if your time is ended, but better to ask. The stuff is very helpful and polite. I would recommend this place. The price is probably not cheap, but I think it’s fair enough, to maintain the place well and enjoy it without crowds, even on Friday evening during the school holidays.
Viktoriia K — Google review
Too expensive for what they offer… 72€ for 1 child and 1 adult. We only stayed 2 hours cause after that my son had already done everything he could do for his age (almost 5). Completely overrated, I don’t think it’s nearly worth the price. The staff was very unpleasant too, as if they were doing you a favor by selling you a ticket or making the machines work inside…We Visited on March 2025.
Sonia V — Google review
Great place for children and adults! Lot's of fun and physical activities like Trampoline and obstacle course.
Liane H — Google review
Tegernsee Phantstisch seems to be a great park for groups with kids above 12, of heights above 140 cm and who understood you need to bring indoor shoes. This was not us and it was a very disappointing and frustrating experience for our kids. We were a group of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 8 and thankfully we only paid for the 2 hours evening offer. We hoped to enjoy ourselves and have dinner there. First disappointing news: the dining area has been booked for a private party so no food. No such info when we booked the ticket. Second disappointment: the chain carousel is broken. The normal carousel works if personal would be there but you have to chase them to go on it. Most parents push the carousel to motion...The remaining area for kids under 8 is an area for todlers which younger kids seems to enjoy but too baby for ours, an area with 3 slides which definitely looks nice but it is only 3 slides and is kind of boring after a short while. Some kids car can also be used. The boulder wall is quite nice but there are just blocks, no parcours. For young kids the grips are not all easy. For more experienced people like my oldest daughter who train weekly, it was boring. There is the Tegernsee Ökologia which is nice if you came to read. But it is not adapted for younger kids although it is part of their area. The multimedia aquarium is about drawing your fish, scan it and seeing it swim among other fishes. Kids would draw 1-2 and then: next. And, well this is the only offer which is there for them. In the next area, kids under 8 needs to be with adults. There, well they can take some nice selfies in the selfie area, play kickers on the 1 kickers table available if free and that's basically it. All other activities are not meant for them and you see some very sad or even crying kids because they are not allowed to be part of the fun. The ninja parcour they can do with the help of an adult. The climbing garden: kids which were allowed on it seemed to have quite some fun. Unfortunately my daughter was found 1 cm smaller than the expected 125 and her bouldering shoes were not considered acceptable indoor shoes according to the man mending the attraction. I was told in a very unfriendly tone that if we go pay for rented indoor shoes, she could join (WT!!! To remain polite!). There should have a little area to test kids ability. Tbh, there were kids blocked in the air much bigger than my daughter who clearly had issues which mine would have gone accross easily as she has experienced similar activities in other parks with more sensible policies. In the jumping area, you are supposed to be able to have screen with games i suppose but they were all not in working order. As they were not too many people at one time, we let our daughters enjoy it but officially they are not allowed in the area. 5D cinema: is ok but age restriction is also not understandable. As a 140 cm+ girl said to the man taking care of the attraction "I did it once, it's kind of boring". Last attraction is the VR free roaming attraction. Kids under 12 and not 140 cm of hights are not allowed to play unfortunately. Same goes for people in wheelchair. For others, you have choice between 5 games. I tested 3 of them and had great fun. One was Europapark themed gem searching quest which i liked very much, second was a shooting game on the moon and mars. Third was a futuristic police shooting game. Games i did not play due to lack of time were a quizz game and a zombie game not allowed for kids under 18. Conclusion: I would not recommend this park for kids under 12 years old as they are too many restrictions for them and lots of frustration. They will enjoy themselves much more in other parks like the Blindham Bergtierpark where for half of the price you have an all day fun even when it is raining. And I would recommend the Tegernsee Phantstisch management to either rethink their younger kids area or make it a 12 years plus themed park. Indeed, there is not many offer for teens in the area and i am sure they could find further nice activities for them.

Strandbad Kaltenbrunn, located on Lake Tegernsee, offers a stunning view of the Tegernsee mountains and Wallberg from its jetty. The area is also home to Hirschberg, Riederstein, and Schloss Ringberg. Visitors can enjoy free admission to the lido and make use of amenities such as a kiosk with 100 seats, free toilets, changing rooms, and outdoor showers.
This is a well maintained, relaxed lake-beach, with a scenic view. There is a wooden peer with a staircase leading into the lake. The lake is quite shallow for the first 50 meters. So far I’ve only been to Ammersee and Tegernsee, but Tegernsee is definitely my favorite lake around Munich, so far!!

(Translated by Google) This is the quickest beach to reach on Lake Tegernsee when coming from Munich. There is parking above the beach. Easypark system. It is advisable to download the app at home and enter your payment details. This saves you having to search for change. Parking is cheaper than elsewhere. However, there are not many parking spaces. The lawn on the beach is relatively small, but there are enough shaded areas. Sometimes you're lying tight on top of each other. Flat but rocky beach. Suitable for children. You can easily get into the water with the SUP. The usual drinks and small meals are available at the kiosk. I liked it here (Original) Dies ist der am schnellsten zu erreichende Badestrand am Tegernsee, wenn man von München kommt. Parkplätze gibt es oberhalb des Strandes. Easypark System. Flacher, allerdings steiniger Strand. The price for a currywurst with fries in July 2023 is €9, which is extremely expensive for me and I don't support that. On the small piece of meadow you lie close together at peak times. The view is very nice, but you can't slow down here when the others are lying close together on your fur. Because of the rocky shore, we went into the water with flip flops. There are large, old, shady trees between the meadow and the pebble beach. What I found worrying, however, was that there were still broken and sometimes large branches hanging in these trees from the last big storm. If they fall on the guests and their children in a gust of wind, it could not end well. It's a shame that this isn't checked.

(Translated by Google) The lido is very beautiful and inviting. There are shady spots provided by large and small trees. Admission is free. There's a nice kiosk at the lido. The path to the water is made of round pebbles. It worked quite well with shoes on. It was perfect for cooling off up to your knees. The view over Lake Tegernsee and the mountains is breathtakingly beautiful. Very nice hike and amazing view up top. Absolutely worth the effort. At times, it is quite steep and surefootedness absolutely required. But at the end you are really rewarded with the scenic experience.

Great walk for a couple of hours. Beautiful views over Tegernsee. We started at the Train station Tegernsee. It took us two hours to get to the top. It’s steep at times so sandals and flip flops maybe not the best choice.

(Translated by Google) Extremely unfriendly to dogs – hardly any freedom of movement Unfortunately, very disappointing for dog owners: Dogs are allowed almost nowhere here – not to the kiosk, not to the lawn, and sometimes not even on the paths leading there. You get the feeling that dogs are unwelcome everywhere, which significantly limits your stay with your four-legged friend. Conclusion: Not recommended for travelers with dogs, as you can't move freely around the grounds.

One of the best places around Munich. You may swim both in a pool and in the lake which is usually quite cold. You can jump to the water from 3 and 5 meters and enjoy the temperature. Really a nice venue which is worth visiting with a family and especially with kids. Very, very good!

Nestled in the heart of Bad Wiessee, the Spiel- und Sportarena is a must-visit destination for families seeking an action-packed day filled with excitement and joy. This indoor play center boasts a plethora of attractions that cater to children of all ages, ensuring endless fun. Parents can unwind in designated relaxation areas while keeping an eye on their little ones as they explore the impressive adventure climbing frame or engage in various activities like mini-golf, ping pong, and go-karting.
Lots of fun! The kids enjoyed it, the parents enjoyed it and the grandparents had fun too. Loads of stuff for the kids to do, plus hidden gems like a mini golf course tucked away in the back and pool tables on balconies overlooking the kids are for parents and adults. A great time will be had by all here.

I'd not recommend it and wouldn't visit this place again. In general it is okay for children to play there, but then the toilets are extremely dirty. It looks like they've been never cleaned correctly. The food is typical cantine level, but they way it was served was terrible: one of the servants took nuggets pieces by hand and put them on the plate for us. The same person was doing almost everything else with the same hand (no gloves, no kitchen tongs, direct hand touch). They don't accept any sort of bank card, they have no food packing if there is anything left. So no-go!
Hossein A — Google review
Several problems I must mention here, first about checkin:- first time i was sent back even we were all vaccinated - they said we could test you with quick-test kit but we don'thave kits anymore. I decidedto come again after two weeks, this time I had wasted 40 minutes to get myself checked in, we were 2 adults and three children there, I had a Groupon voucher for 5 people, there was nothing exclusive written about on which days it is allowed and which not, also no mention about 2G+ requirements (Vaccinated and must have been freshly negative-Tested). At checking-in the guy requested to come again as he could not accept Groupon voucher on a Saturday, as Alternate I must pay him 10 more euros to go, so I did pay 10 euros not to waste more time. Then inside-play, each attraction be bought again. Coins like 1 eur 1, 13 for 10 eur. The play area was cold like hell, cannot be recommended for vhilbelow 10. They saved money turning off the heating, outside was -3. Food was horrible, the margarita Pizza 🍕, two pizzas with cold drinks. I had to vomit outside.

Exploring the Tegernsee Bike - Bad Wiessee offers an exhilarating adventure for both hikers and cyclists. Nestled in the picturesque Tegernsee valley, this experience combines outdoor fun with a touch of mystery as you solve riddles along your journey. With just three questions to answer, you could win exciting prizes like a summer sledge run ticket or a ride on the Wallberg cable car.
We had a really good time here. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Eventhough we arrived late she took our rental. The bikes are amazing and very reliable. Thanks a lot.

Very friendly and flexible staff, the bike was amazing. I suggest to double check your seat height before leaving the shop, mine wasn't able to stay on a higher position, but otherwise great! Definitely would recommend.
Patricio M — Google review
I do not recommend this bike shop/service under any circumstances! I went 2 times, the first time it cost me 40 euros to fix a flat tire, without changing my tire or anything. He didn't give me any receipt. The second time I went to fix the bike that squeaks when I pedal. I told the lady who works there the day before and she told me to come today because the repairman wasn't there. I went there today, and when he saw me he asked: For the squeaking bike? I said yes and then he took my bike in the back of the shop to fix it. After 5 minutes he comes out with the bike and says that he fixed the gears and that now he changes them much better and it costs 45 Euros. I didn't understand what he was referring to and I got on the bike to try it out. It was creaking just like before. I come back and tell him that it was not resolved and I asked him why he charged me 45 Euros. He replied that it was to fix my gearbox. I told him that wasn't the problem because the gear wasn't faulty, it just squealed when I pedaled, and he didn't fix that problem for me. Bottom line, he took my money for nothing, didn't refound and I didn't even get a receipt, just like the first time. On top of all this, he also stuck stickers with his company name on my bike without even asking for my consent. It is beyond any criticism!
