In Forli, the Rocca di Ravaldino stands out as a significant historical architectural gem. This 14th-century fortress served as a defensive complex for the city and underwent expansions in the 15th century. Surrounded by lush greenery and adjacent to the city prison, this photogenic castle features four round towers and connecting crenulated walls. Over time, it has undergone various changes, including reconstruction and reinforcement with the addition of two ravelins during the 15th century.
A small fortress that you can visit for free at the moment on Saturday and Sunday. One of the staff will accompany you through main areas and give a brief introduction in Italian or English about the history and rennovation efforts. Personally I found the visit very nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Thu T — Google review
Newly opened and you can see it's still being set up as a museum/place to visit. Entrance is free but with mandatory guide, in English as well if you want. You get a tour of the grounds and a short history of it, but entire thing is very bare bones. Hopefully in the future it will improve. I was hoping to learn more about Caterina Sforza herself, but not much is told about her. There is no literature about the hsitory at the site, but you can get a bit of it at Tourist Center in town. I can't blame the staff for it, they try but museum itself still needs quite a bit of work. Worth a visit if you are in Forli, but don't expect too much and if this is your primary point of itnerest you'll be disapointed

Interesting building to see. Unfortunately it was closed at our visit. Nevertheless we weren't disappointed.

Now open for visitors - The Rocca opened mid April 2024 for the first time in generations, you can visit the grounds and take a short tour of the castle on Saturday and Sunday for free.

A beautiful, tremendous castle, yet turned into a prison... Such a disgrace!

The Musei di San Domenico is a museum complex located in Forli, Italy, set within a medieval convent. The complex includes the deconsecrated church of San Giacomo Apostolo and two cloisters. After a period of neglect, extensive restoration efforts have transformed the space into a hub for art and culture. The Forli Civic Art Gallery is housed within the complex, showcasing an impressive collection of works by renowned artists such as Antonio Canova and Livio Agresti.
One of the most important Italian museum and the best experience I’ve ever had. Because of when I visited, I was fortunate enough to have the museum all to myself - which was surreal. Their permanent collection is beautiful, and the stories behind some of their pieces are extraordinary. Staff are all incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and not only great professionals, but amazing humans. I got to hear the origin story of the building, among many others which contributed to what it is today. The building although very old, is incredibly well kept, and the interior is a tasteful modern, which still does well to emphasise the authentic architectural identity of the museum. The place is squeaky clean all around, and overall just very calm and pleasant to be in. As always, there is a discount for students. After such a wonderful experience, I’m definitely looking forward to coming back in spring for their yearly special exhibition - which will host over three hundred paintings from the greatest artists of all time!

This might be misleading as I haven't been inside the building. But I have been to the underground parking lot right underneath it — and there's a whole other art museum worth looking at. Found it by an accident, no regrets.

The Pre-Raphaelite exhibit was so very, very good! As an older person I wish that I had been able to visit the exhibit twice - too much for one visit. Also the informational signs should be bigger - hard to see and many people at one time trying to read them created a bit of a crowd. BUT SO WORTH SEEING!

Piazza Aurelio Saffi, located in Forli, Italy, holds a significant historical and cultural importance. It was the site of a fierce battle in 1282 between Ghibelline Forli soldiers and the French and Italian Guelph army. The fallen were buried in a common pit, commemorated by the Crocetta chapel. Today, Piazza Saffi is a vibrant hub of cultural and gastronomic experiences.
Piazza Aurelio Saffi is the main square of Forlì and a beautiful place to explore if you’re visiting the city. It’s spacious, surrounded by impressive historical buildings, and has a relaxed, local atmosphere. You’ll find a mix of medieval, Renaissance, and rationalist architecture, with highlights like the Abbey of San Mercuriale, the Town Hall, and the Aurelio Saffi statue in the center. It’s a great spot to walk around, grab a coffee, or just enjoy the view. On market days (usually Mondays and Fridays), it becomes even livelier with local stalls and vendors. There are also events throughout the year, especially during summer and Christmas. If you’re in Forlì, don’t miss a stop here — it’s a perfect mix of history, culture, and everyday life
Vincenzo P — Google review
The place is beautiful but looks little shabby because of the open market in the center. This place should have been kept more beautifully as this holds the history of Forli, Italy. It was difficult to take pictures as the flea market was coming in the center.

The Campanile di San Mercuriale is a prominent feature in the town square, surrounded by significant buildings such as the abbey of San Mercuriale, the Town Hall, and the Palazzo del Podesta. Villa Carpena, also known as Villa Mussolini, is the former residence of Benito Mussolini and his family. Situated in San Martino in Strada along route Crocetta, this historic house has been transformed into a museum. Once owned by the Mussolini family for many years, it was acquired by two entrepreneurs from Lodi in 2000.
I highly recommend for sightseeing (if you like historical matters) a very nice small town. 🔥🔥🔥
Adrian C — Google review
The ethics of having museums dedicated to fascism is a complex issue that depends largely on the intent, presentation, and context of the museum. When done right, these establishments are essential to an accurate portrayal and understanding of history. Unfortunately, Villa Carpena is not such an establishment. Far from being objective and clearly run by huge fans of the Mussolini family, who during the extensive tour of the house, glamourised and worshipped the cult of "Il Duce" and his wife. An extremely cringe experience and also very overpriced for what is essentially a visit to a pretty neglected and stuffy old house.

(Translated by Google) The layout is perfect, the exhibition boasts several masterpieces (including the two panels by Beato Angelico), and the visit makes you want to return as soon as possible. The only flaw: unlike all the other works, Marco Palmezzano's masterpiece, the so-called "Large Annunciation" (dated 1495; in the adjacent room there is another later altarpiece of the same subject, also stunning), is lit too aggressively.

During my recent exploration, I had the opportunity to step inside the Palazzo dell'ex Collegio aeronautico, a former Aeronautical College located at Piazzale della Vittoria. This site is particularly captivating due to its stunning collection of mosaics that were crafted and assembled in Forli during the fascist era. These intricate artworks serve as a remarkable testament to the artistic endeavors of that time, making it a highlight of my tour.

One of the best meals we had while in Italy. It’s a fantastic concept and the restaurant used to hold a Michelin star. Everything from the bread to the pasta and the meat was great. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful.

Welcoming and warm staff. Very courteous. My tortellini was average taste and portion. Next time will try more. Desert was the traditional Italian one - Italian trifle. Would rate it ok. Portion size was good. Do try the pistachio desert. All menu in Italian so needs translation.

Great food, warm welcome, swift and smiling service. Don't miss the culatello de zibello!! Pasta with boar are awesome. So is the rabbit and the sea bass. Very good tortellini with pea pesto. House wine not bad at all and as usual coffee was great.

Wonderful restaurant! Amazing food and the service is outstanding! Both for lunch and dinner we enjoyed it so much! Authentic local products, including great whine.

We came here for lunch because I found it on the internet. What a lovely location. The servers were friendly and professional. We had the Beef Tartare, Anchovies and Fried Zucchini Flowers to start. Never would have expected that the Anchovies would be so good. The Tartare was prepared differently to how we would eat it at home but all the ingredients are fresh and good quality so it was very delicious. We had two types of pasta the Gnochi and the Agnolotti. Our eyes were bigger than our bellies and luckily the Pasta came in a smaller plate (still a sizeable serving). We also had a Dangiovese wine paired with ihr meal. Our server recommended it and it was the perfect choice for such a meal and such a warm day. Highly recommend this location.

(Translated by Google) Church located at the crossroads between Piazza Saffi and Corso della Repubblica, whose first stone was laid in 1723 thanks to bequests from Canon Cristoforo Aspini and his niece Barbara, a family whose coat of arms is represented in the marble floor in the area below the majestic dome. The works ended in 1748, with the exception of the façade which was completed in 1933. The church is embellished with frescoes and works of art. The elliptical plan recalls the Church of S. Maria al Quirinale in Rome. The Sunday and public holiday liturgy is usually accompanied by the sound of the "Callido" organ, so called from the name of the famous Venetian organ builder of the late eighteenth century who worked for a long time in Emilia Romagna. Due to its elegance and solemnity, the place almost plastically represents a concept often recalled by the Rector of Suffrage - Don Paolo Giuliani - that is, of the liturgy as a game, citing the writings of the theologian Romano Guardini who in some way assimilates the liturgy to art, united by the fact that both do not have an end, but rather a meaning. In the liturgy man must not so much educate himself as contemplate the Glory of God.

(Translated by Google) I must say that up until now I have always had respect for the town, very welcoming and beautiful with its river and its markets, plus the good mayor who has not adapted to the neighboring towns in terms of separate waste collection. Even the fact of using the stoves, after incentives had been provided. But why don't you also do something to improve the health of the valley? I hope the mayor understands that it's time something was done to improve this sector..

Historical place
The historical Palazzo Gaddi, situated on the main shopping street named after Giuseppe Garibaldi, is a remarkable building in every Italian provincial town. It now houses the museum of the Risorgimento and the Romagna theater museum. Access to these museums is limited to reservations only. Inside, visitors can find an impressive collection of memorabilia and historical artifacts, along with extraordinary frescoes that are truly breathtaking.

Historical landmark
Palazzo Hercolani, the prestigious headquarters of Unieuro, beautifully combines classicism with modernity. The historic building has been renovated with taste and respect for its history to house the Italian consumer electronics giant. Visitors are captivated by the well-preserved interiors and ceilings, which serve as a treasure trove of memorabilia. Additionally, there is a charming hidden garden waiting to be discovered within the premises.

(Translated by Google) I want to point out the lack of seriousness of the transporter responsible for delivering my purchase to the UNIEURO website. I believe that relying on serious companies is also a sign of respect towards the buyer, who - if dissatisfied as in my case - must pay attention to what happened. Introduction: this is the second time I have purchased online from Unieuro and the first time I had no problems. This time I was contacted by telephone by Unieuro who informed me that the delivery would be made on 8/02 so I took a day off at work not knowing the time slot. On 08/02 I was contacted by telephone by the transporter who told me that the delivery would take place the next day. I point out that I had taken a day off and that the next day it would be impossible for me to take another one and to silence me he then assures me of delivery on 08/02 but from 7pm to 9pm (also in a rather rude manner). So I canceled an appointment that I had in the late afternoon to be home, but at 7.30pm he called me back and told me that he couldn't and that he would come on 02/09 after a phone call to agree on the time. On 02/09 he calls me, we make an agreement, he comes on time but he doesn't give me the 50 inch floor-standing TV and demands that I come down and pick it up myself. Which I do because obviously I couldn't have done it differently. When he makes me sign the delivery note with his hand he tries to cover the writing "delivery to floor", I point out to him that it says there that I shouldn't have had to come down (if I had been an elderly lady?) but that it would have been he had to go up. Lack of seriousness, rudeness, little professionalism and zero respect for the buyer. Poca serietà, scostumatezza, poca professionalità e rispetto dell'acquirente pari a zero.
