Quality food worth every penny. It’s made the stay at the hotel just that more special. This is my new top restaurant. Even got the chef’s signature for my elite collection of top restaurants (from the US and Europe and Asia). If you’re a foodie like me you must give this restaurant a visit. Been to many restaurants and this one I say brings amazing technique with flavor anyone can enjoy. Truly brings a smile to my face when I ate the food. I had the arctic char and my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin. My boyfriend hates fish but he tasted my fish and thought it tasted really good. The beef was cooked to perfection very tender and the flavors exploded on the tongue. Both our plates were clean and wish I had more. Anytime I come to Iceland I am making this a mandatory spot. Honeymoon must do for sure because it’s such a romantic spot as well.

Although we were only passing through the area, our dining experience at Varma Restaurant turned out to be truly memorable. While the prices are on the higher side, they felt entirely justified within the Icelandic context, considering the remarkable quality of the main courses. I chose the signature lamb, which was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, rich, and bursting with flavor. Without exaggeration, it was one of the finest lamb dishes I’ve ever had. My companion ordered the beef tenderloin, and it was equally impressive: beautifully prepared, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. For starters, we tried the reindeer and tuna tartare. Both were decent at best. That said, the main courses alone made the visit unforgettable. The lamb in particular stands out as one of the best dishes I’ve experienced in Iceland.

This restaurant is excellent. This was our fifth dinner out in Selfoss, and the best by far. It does not look like a restaurant as you drive down a hill to what looks like homes, but once you walk in, you are in a gorgeous space. We ordered lamb fillets, which were not on the menu, and the cod. The presentation was gorgeous, and the flavor of both plates was exquisite. The side vegetables were also delicious and consisted mainly of perfectly paired root vegetables due to the season. The carrot cake topped the meal off with a fun mix of flavors. The service staff were very attentive. In Iceland, they give you time and space to enjoy your meal. We are very happy we visited Restaurant Varma!

We aren't sure why this doesn't have five stars. Hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. Presentation, taste, creativity and uniqueness were all spot on. Food was perfection, the atmosphere was very Icelandic and beautiful, the staff was friendly.

Fantastic restaurant with great views in a wonderful riverside location 👌 We serve typical Icelandic products such as lobster soup, lamb, cod or trout, beef and horse steaks, and many more. Always fresh, colorful and tasty! We put a lot of heart, passion and modern twist into our dishes. The wine list is also carefully selected and matched to the dishes. We had dinner at Varma Restaurant and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Yes, it’s pricey, but for Iceland, it felt absolutely reasonable given the exceptional quality. I ordered the lamb and it was perfectly cooked, tender, and rich in flavor, paired with beautifully prepared vegetables and a silky purée. The presentation was stunning and the flavors were even better. Service was warm, attentive, and professional. You can tell the staff takes pride in the experience they offer. Highly recommended if you’re staying at the hotel or even if you’re just passing through the area. A refined and memorable culinary experience!

This pizza was the best pizza I have ever had in my whole entire 23 years of existing. The No. 5…. Black pepper cheese, pepperoni, bacon, cheese, and hot sauce. I will be back again before I leave iceland. Probably for all three meals of the day!!! I also got the mango and vodka drink and also was very tasty. PLEASE TRY THE No. 5, it is tolerably hot. Don’t let that scare you from trying it!

Great experience, really interesting pizza flavours on the menu! Had a good meal, not crazy expensive. Pizza crust could be better. Service was fast and friendly. Laid back atmosphere. Decent cutlery for hassle free pizza slicing, always much appreciated.

We stopped in here because we had purchased their hot sauce that was on display at the Geothermal Exhibition last year. So when we returned this year we had to try it! What a wonderful place! The food was amazing, the owners were super friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed speaking to them about upcoming events, Christmas celebrations, etc. They really made us feel welcome and welcomed back. We will 100% return on our 5th trip to Iceland!

Coming from France, we are a bit picky about food. The beers were great, but don't expect Italian refined pizzas 😁 For 23€/pizza, we paid 56€ for two "fast food" pizzas that tasted like someone cleaned the fridge (I mean look at the pesto-from-the-tube caterpillars and the crushed nachos). The beers were really more interesting and reasonably priced, you can count on it! 🍻

This microbrewery and pizzeria is so good we returned the following night! The pizzas are excellent, as are the range of beers brewed on site. The staff are really friendly. Lovely vibe inside. Service is quick. They have board games and books if you fancy staying a while.

Excellent bakery. We stopped off for lunch and had a delicious fresh filled roll. Also took some kleinur (twisted doughnuts) for later which were also great.

Stopped in before going for a hike and got two croissants and a tea. Food tasted great, and the tea came in a large mug - plenty of both for sharing!

Almar Bakari serves variety of items from fresh baked goods to salad and sandwiches. We bought breads and desserts for 3 days in a row and we loved their breads! There is a black bread and I’m not sure of name, but the staff told me it’s ciabatta that’s made with charcoal food coloring. Its crust is so crispy but chewy and just perfect. We made sandwiches with this bread which is to die for. We can’t find this bread in the US … Pizza bread, cinnamon coffee rolls were good. Line is long but they move pretty quickly. It’s definitely worth the visit when you pass by the area.

Cute cafe by close to the campground if you are in the area. They open pretty early at 7 am. Coffee was great (not the best but still good) and also ordered a croissant which was good too.

Cheaper than other bakeries in reykjavik but dont taste as good. Wide selection but quality didnt shine through.

The most wonderful cake selection in Iceland, some amazing deliciousness in dessert form. A good place to pick up some treats and snacks to keep the costs down and the food is excellent.

I have Almar Bakari to thank for being able to try various Icelandic pastries and bakery items. The selection is overwhelmingly huge! It took everything in me to not grab one of each item. It all looked so good. We tried a few items and loved every single one! My favorite was the Vínarbrauð. I splurged and got it full-sized and a mini. It was delicious. Wonderfully sweet and It lasted about two days between my husband and I, and we agreed it remained tasting great the next day, but not as great as it was fresh. His favorite was the Marisipanstykki - it was basically two fluffy cake slices with vanilla cream shelled in rich chocolate. We also indulged in a couple other donuts and danishes and loved them all! Excellent coffee as well that pairs lovely with the pastries.

We had some food from bistro and it was excellent! Very generous portions with sophisticated taste, even for simple dishes such as burger or pasta. The service was also very prompt and attentive. Our only complaint is that the restaurant felt a bit loud with all the guests speaking, but this cannot be avoided.

Food was well presented and yummilicious indeed. The Service was tip top and the atmosphere warm and cosy. If you were to stay at Hotel Ork, first enjoy happy hour from 4-6pm and then dig in for your dinner. Highly recommended 👍😁

Delicious, fresh food! I had the lobster bisque and it was in my top three! The ambience is so peaceful, not too many people there as it is part of a hotel. The service was wonderful and they even had a kids menu which was a plus! The kids also loved their food!

If you're tempted to try the Vegan nut Steak this is the place to do it. The flavour combinations were all over the place and wonderful. The beef burger was tasty and cooked excellently accompanied by a bacon jam which was also added a savory punch. Both prices are reasonable, the best I've seen around. Great service. Easy parking.

Great meal here included in our room rate at the Hotel Ork. Great food and drinks and lovely surroundings. Nothing is cheap in Iceland but it was lovely, well presented quality food!

The food was the best yet in Iceland.we had langonstine soup, as a starter, I had Arctic Char with delicious vegetables in a rocket cream sauce. My wife had The salmon with veggies In a bechamel sauce. The seafood was cooked right and very delicious. Food is expensive in Iceland however this was the best food and deal for the money so far. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch on our way to Vik. We were very pleased with the menu options for pizza, the creativity and the CRUST. The crust is light and airy.

We stopped by during our visit to Iceland and were so thrilled by the pizza that we came back again three evenings later. The pizzas are extraordinarily composed, we loved putting jam onto a three cheese pizza, for example. Service was friendly, the place clean and somehow cosy.

We’ve just had two of the best pizzas we’ve ever eaten. The cheese and garlic stuffed bread and the vegetarian Innocent Aunt Frida pizzas were fantastic. We would highly recommend this place.

I ordered the Margarita Pizza, and it was delicious. It wasn’t greasy at all, and the crust was the perfect balance between crunchy and soft. Time spent inside was very hot. I sat outside, and this was very pleasant so I don’t think I would have liked it as much if I had sat indoors. Would definitely recommend this place for some good pizza. They also had free wifi. Good value for cost.

Really really good food with a great mix of Icelandic options and some standard fare as well. The server was incredibly friendly, the food came out quick and we all have a great time. Definitely not cheap, but absolutely worth it!

The food here is excellent! Tons of selections but my favorite is the beef tartar. The hamburger is delicious, and loved their fish soup. The variety of locally, handmade schnapps is something you don't want to miss. I don't want to butcher our server and head chefs name, but they really did a great job at guiding us through the menu and drinks. Our server was a really tall clean shaven gentleman, and the chef had an excellent beard, shaved head. The staff is so friendly. I can't wait to come back and visit again!

We went here on our first and last day of vacation visiting Iceland! I’m celiac and had the chicken breast (without mushroom sauce) only because I don’t like mushrooms, I don’t know if it was gluten free or not. I did mentioned I was gluten free/celiac and both waiters told the chef each time. The chicken was so tender and came on some mashed potatoes that were really good as well!! Atmosphere was great, service was fast, food was amazing! Would go again.

Ordered fish & chips and the fish of the month. Fish of the month is good, but rather salty for us. Scrapped away the outer bits and the insides were fresh and tender. The sauce was tasty with apple and Cabbage. Fish & chips was decent.

Absolutely loved Hipstur! The food here is fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d hope to find in Iceland. The fish and chips were crispy and delicious, the fish of the day was cooked perfectly, and the soup was rich and comforting. Everything tasted like it was made with real care. The vibe is very relaxed and informal—it’s set up like a food hall, so you don’t feel any of that stuffy, tourist-trap energy. It’s the kind of place you can just sit back, enjoy great food, and feel right at home. I’d recommend Hipstur to everyone, whether you’re just passing through or looking for a reliable spot to eat well. Fresh seafood, great atmosphere, and an easy-going experience—definitely one of my favorite food stops in Iceland!

I was surprised that I could get a relatively refined meal at a food court. Hipstur’s fish of the month is thoughtfully crafted with a variety of ingredients on the plate to make things interesting. The flavours were a bit mild for me, but everything was cooked well. There are other food stalls available here, so everyone can find something to suit their preferences. Toilets downstairs.

All of the dishes with fish here is magnificent, loved the atmosphere and people working there. Recommend to all of my friends, prices are also great. Will definitely come here often.

This small place went way beyond my wildest imagination! I've never had such a delicious white fish of the day dinner. The combination of flavors was absolutely incredible. And the chef was so personable and helpful. You must go check it out yourself!

Wow! We just had the best fish and chips! The fish was cooked to perfection, flaky and just the right amount of breading, flaky fish, French fries hot from the fryer! Simon and Martins are the best kitchen team I've seen in a long time! We sat and ate at the counter as they effortlessly prepared each item on the menu. We can't wait to come back and try any one of the other items on the menu!

I had an incredible dining experience at Matholl Suđurlands. The shrimp salad was absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The steak was another standout; cooked to perfection and bursting with rich, savory flavors. The duck tacos were a pleasant surprise—so tasty and deliciously unique. Lovely food hall with a selection of restaurants (Yuzu burger, PFC chicken, wok noodle box, taco, Hipstur and a bar and a cafe). The vibe is good, with lovely setting and decorations. The food is with good quality too. I will go here even other restaurants are open (most of the restaurants are shut here on Mondays and Tuesdays)!

It's a really cool dining hall, with a variety of kitchens. Has very good vibe. The tacos I ate were delicious as well.

Ordered the taco meal deal at Taco Vagninn and they were absolutely delicious. Incredible value for money. Would absolutely recommend.

A food court with several different places to choose from. In my opinion, the seafood salad was the best option. The fish soup also looked pretty good.

I gor some nachos and tacos, the nachos were not nachos, is the tortilla of the tacos but fried, with mayonnaise and some chilli, as yoi can see in the picture. the tacos were good but because of the nachos I can consider the most wasted money in Iceland.

One of the best restaurant meals I ever had ! Beef sandwich or similar was its name. It was bursting with flavors, I couldn't get enough of it. Feast for the senses ! To top it off I ordered a tiramisu - turned out a beautiful dessert, soaked in syrup, again with such a rich flavor. There is free car parking next to the restaurant. The staff is very polite and patient.

Nice cozy place to go on a cold rainy night. Great atmosphere and nice staff. Food options were a little limiting, but a good taste of local dishes. As everything else in Iceland a little on the pricey side. We got the shrimp small plate plus a flaked fish stew, both were amazing!

Very spacious and cozy for colder days. Love the simple menu and reasonably priced food (for Iceland). We tried fish stew (more like a casserole), burger, around 1990 isk. Wish the portions was larger but it was decent for the price and meal. Plenty of cake options mad with skyr. Many people eating here and seems local. We didn’t have to wait.

I had the stuffed mushrooms, so tasty! Also the chicken salad and for dessert the skyr yoghurt with berries. My husband had the traditional Icelandic soup and said it was amazing! I had really good service there from a young lady called Helga Solveig, its a shame the young blonde headed girl working with her wasn't very friendly or enthusiastic. Overall though a great experience with a great atmosphere, I loved the old building too.

Went for their 3-course lunch special. It was worth every "króna"! It is not as fancy as in the evening, but it was a good soup + perfectly cooked chicken breast + small dessert. The food changes between days. Highly recommended for lunch!

We had a wonderful dinner here on a Sunday night at short notice on a holiday weekend. The service was reasonably friendly and very accommodating considering we also needed to keep my daughter's food gluten-free. The kids' meals were reasonable value (even by Icelandic standards) and the lamb chops for the adults were delicious. Reasonable wine choice and some tasty local beers too. If you are staying in the area, or need a dinner as you travel around the Golden Circle then this place is worth seeking out

Visited here on the return leg of the Golden Circle. The food was really good and the staff were nice and helpful. The children's menu was very reasonable with some really good, interesting choices. It was recommended by Lonely Planet and I would agree, it is worth a visit.

Filter coffee as much as you want (unlimited self-service refills), Icelandic artisanal cakes by people who are rightfully proud of it, yummy simple burgers... all inside a lovely green house with comfortable seating. We tried the strawberry cream cake and liquorice/meringue/caramel cake. It was a great coffee break before continuing our road trip! Totally recommend :)

Such a cute little spot in a converted greenhouse. We ordered a hot chocolate, ham and cheese panini, chicken burger, and side of fries. The food was very solid, nothing fancy but well made. The fries were elite! The hot chocolate was PERFECT. The service is what made the experience exceptional in my opinion. As two Americans we fumble around a little bit in countries but the man working the register was incredibly helpful and sweet. He helped us navigate with a smile on his face as cafes in the US don't typically have this food and buffet experience.

I’ll give 5 stars to this restaurant to restore the balance with the complete unfair previous comments. I’ve ordered different burgers for me and kids, we’ve all appreciated both burgers and fries. I would even say that the fries were excellent : super crispy and tasty. The team was very nice and helpful, they let my daughter tried sauces to be sure that she likes it (Nice mayo yuzu sauce). Last words for the place : nice and cozy food court. I recommend upstairs seats which offer a great view on the surroundings

Great burger from a small local chain, the chili burger was tasty and not very spicy (well ok if you think mayo is spicy it might be... But it's nowhere near Sriracha either). Fries - try the garlic sauce.

The ice cream here is nice with both soft and scooped varieties available. The range of flavours is okay and includes a couple of vegan options to enjoy in a cone or a box. Choose from a range of candy and fruit if you want a blizzard/flurry, or grab a cup of slurpee.

I just left and my wife and I had a terrible customer experience. The ice cream was good enough, but the staff was bad at their job and seemed not to care. Only one of the three employees did anything while I was there, and he messed up three of the four cones I saw him make. One of them he held in the chocolate too long and the ice cream fell in.

Went there in the evening, the staff was very uninterestedin providing me with service. Did not feel welcomed at all. Icecream was bland and impossible to eat since it was dripping all over. Clearly not cold enough. The price did not meet the quality of the product. Never going there again.

What a great place to have an ice cream🍦 They have a good assortment of flavors, plus shakes and many kinds of vegan ice-creams. I personally recommend the banana-split and "ice cream of the year" flavors 🍨 Also, I have to say that the Icelandic guy who speaks Italian is a very good employer 😉

We past in this place after we’ve been to hot spring, and we want to have something to eat , its around 22 in the evening of 18-7 but unfortunately the staff didnt assist us and they just chitchating with their freind outside even they know that a lot of customer is coming!

We really enjoyed this hotel. It is in a beautiful location. We enjoyed our walk to a small waterfall. Breakfast was good and the beds were comfortable. We Had lots of fun, boiling our eggs in the geothermal pool. The pools were lovely to sit at and enjoy the view overall, a really nice stay. Number one choice in the area.

Nothings short of perfect! Frost and Fire was undeniably one of the highlights of our Iceland trip and the perfect venue for our most intimate and memorable celebration, our wedding reception. From the moment I reached out for information until after our event/stay, Marion, their most amazing hotel manager, was incredibly helpful, responsive, and warm. She made every step of the process a breeze, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The restaurant was a standout experience, where our private wedding reception was held. Glass enclosed dining area, candlelit dinner and dancing under the Nordic sky. Food was incredible! Our wedding guests couldn't stop talking about the delicious dishes served, drinks from the bar, and, of course, the exceptionally welcoming and attentive staff. Our stay at the hotel was equally spectacular. The location alone is a dream, quiet and peaceful. Surrounded with stunning geothermal steam rising from the hills, a serene river flowing below, and the most relaxing geothermal hot tub where we could have easily spent the entire day if we could. Rooms were clean and of the perfect size with amazing views. Frost and Fire exceeded all of our expectations, and we are so grateful for the wonderful memories we made there. We’ll absolutely be back for sure!

Clean rooms but rows of outside bungalows. Some inside. Hot pool and hotter hot tubs and sauna were a bit primitive but good fun. Dining was nothing special. Nonlounge area, not as nice as online suggests but still we were not unhappy.

Great place with great view very nice rooms. Very good connection but the best part was the natural Jacuzzi with a natural pool and the river that you can swim inside even if the weather is not good. It has a great sauna. We used it. It was a great pleasure.

We stayed one night at Frost and Fire Hotel and loved it! Peaceful setting, friendly staff, lovely breakfast, and our room had a river view. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights right outside from the balcony, magical!✨

Loved our two night stay! The staff was very kind and helped us book tours, taxis, and with our luggage. The restaurant is lovely and delicious. And we saw the Northern Lights (Oct) from our bedroom! Spent an hour on our deck watching and taking pictures. My only complaint is the tiny bathroom sink in the room, which says a lot.

The room was good and breakfast was good. The lady behind the front desk was very rude to us when we came early to check in. We understand that it was a long shot to check in early but we were immediately treated poorly upon walking in. For the price I expect better. Cool views otherwise.

Delicious and reasonably priced (at least as far as most things in Iceland are). Very friendly guys there also, and the spices on the chips were delicious. Highly recommend for a quick bite. They brought it out to our car when it was ready also so we didn't have to wait in the rain.
