Kotohiki Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Kotohiki Park offers a variety of natural and cultural attractions, including blooming flowers, seaside sunsets, and forested trails. Visitors can also explore Buddhist temples and admire an impressive sand sculpture. In addition to these sights, the park boasts interesting historical sites alongside its picturesque beach and spacious grounds. This lovely destination provides ample opportunity to appreciate Japan's stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage in a peaceful setting that is not overly crowded.
Interesting historic site...also a beautiful beach and park.

Kids loved it, close to the beach and a great viewpoint a few minutes walk up the mountain available. However it's infested with weird big flying bugs (don't sting but annoying and gross). Be sure to use bug spray
Andreas O — Google review
It is shameful and a disgrace that the Japanese authorities allow so much waste to be thrown into the ocean. There is an immense amount of plastic trash floating in the water off Ariake beach, and plastic is littering the beach itself. If this is in the top 100 of Japanese beaches, I fear for the future of the oceans around Japan.

Takaya Shrine

Mentioned on
2 lists
Shinto shrine
Shrine
The Takaya Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Kanonji city overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Accessible by car or foot, visitors can reach the shrine through a steep climb up several flights of stairs or via a bumpy car ride. Although it may be difficult to locate, the stunning panoramic view from the top of the mountain makes it worth visiting. However, crowds of loud tourists can detract from its peaceful atmosphere.
Came during golden hour and it did not disappoint, The drive up was a little precarious, but definitely worth it. Make sure to if you are driving that you use the parking lot behind the shrine as the destination. The walk up to the shrine is slightly steep, just be warned.
Sonnyson — Google review
U can drive or come by taxi, 3-4000 yen if u missed the bus. Or a walk from JR station, I recommend a walk if weather is nice. Really relaxed and it worth every penny.
Kenny W — Google review
Driving uphill a bit tougher, but not much traffic on weekday. Take 5 minutes climbing up, not very hard. Beautiful view up top, simply gorgeous.
W. L — Google review
One of the famous attractions in Shikoku, known as the “Gate in the Sky.” The view from here is absolutely stunning. We visited in late July under the scorching sun, so we decided to drive up. The road is extremely challenging, barely enough for one car, yet it is a two-way road. On our way down, we even encountered oncoming traffic, and one car that was not very confident made us keep reversing to give way. After parking (free), there is a short but steep walk up to the shrine and the torii gate in the sky. Despite the tough drive, the view makes it well worth the visit.
Leh P — Google review
December 1st: I was worried I would miss sunset but I pushed it and got up in 45 min. You could show up at sunset and probably still see a nice twilight view at the top, but it will be a dark hike up and the ground is uneven like hiking in a forest. Only certain parts are paved and the stairs are at the very end. It is quite steep most of the way up. depending on your pace expect a tough 45min to climb 1.5hr hike up and a careful hike back down. Conditions will probably matter a lot, I wouldn’t do this in wet conditions.
Gabe R — Google review
The Mog Champ sends his regards. This is one of the most beautiful places I've been during my 5 week trip in Japan last July. Honestly, I found this place through Instagram and if it wasn't for a random reel, I wouldn't have known about this at all! The view at the top after an Incline hike is so deserving and rewarding that you would love it so much and appreciate the surrounding perspective from the peak of the tori gate. Make sure to bring a lot of water and good shoes with grip! I was here when it rained a day or two prior and the path was a bit challenging despite the day being sunny and dried up as well. It would take about an hour to hour and a half to get to the top depending on your pacing, and about the same to get back down as well. It's a well-maintained point of interest too! めっちゃいい景色くぽ! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

One of the most beautiful places you will ever see! Looked straight out of a manga! Admittedly, it was a slightly spooky drive up. Narrow and unsure is there was oncoming traffic!

If you are not driving, consider taking the “shuttle taxi”. It costed 1500 yen from Kanonji Station to the shrine.

Chichibugahama Beach

Mentioned on
2 lists
Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Beaches
Chichibugahama Beach, located in the town of Mitoyo on the northwest coast of Shikoku, is a popular and picturesque spot frequently captured by photographers. During low tide, the beach features large tide pools that beautifully reflect the colors of the sky, especially at sunset. The experience at this beach varies depending on the tides and weather. During high tide, it's suitable for swimming and sunbathing with shallow waters extending quite far out.
It is a nice sight, but requires the time of day and weather conditions to be right. If you want one of those iconic reflection shots it cannot be windy. The best times of photo are either in the morning, when the sun is opposite the sea (so the people are well lit), or in the afternoon or evening for silhouette shots.
カッリ — Google review
20250322 If u r a tourist and free to plan ur itenary, avoid coming at weekends. Maybe due to better weather for the week, at the weekend or school break, the day I went was full of people, no parking space nearby and a bit windy. With all the high expectations due to excellent photos shared by lots of people, the first view of a crowded normal beach was a bit of anticlimactic to me. We did try to enjoy the beach by trying all sorts of photo taking, but there were simply too many people around. The view was good though.
Ric W — Google review
Beach with a nice atmosphere but really it depends on the weather of the day, if you are looking to get one of those iconic reflection shots. The short walk along the beach is also nice and it gives you a sense of calmness.
Kenny C — Google review
Good place to visit. Come at dry tide to get better reflection. Good spot for sunset. Perfect picture will need to come at good time and some good luck. Check website for better info.
W. L — Google review
Quite a nice place but the transport was not very convenient. My friend and I weren’t driving and so we needed to take the last bus scheduled at around 630pm. This was a miss as the sunset was at around 7pm and by then the light and scenery would be fantastic.
Sean C — Google review
This is a beautiful beach that can be enjoyed very differently during high and low tide. Depending on what experience you're looking for, it's best to check the website for information on the tides as well as the weather. During high tide, it's a normal beach where you can swim or sunbathe. The water isn't too deep either, so an adult can walk pretty far out before needing to swim. During low tide is when this beach experiences most of its crowds, especially on days with good weather and little to no wind. Because of the way the beach is formed, pools of water that are great for reflection photography form and it's gained a lot of popularity due to this. If you're not fond of crowds or don't care about taking any reflection photos, I wouldn't recommend visiting during peak times. If you are after photos, I recommend going during the afternoon to secure parking and take photos both with the blue sky and the sunset. If you can, I also recommend bringing a tripod with a remote release for your camera or phone, but if you don't have that option, there are also very kind volunteers who will take your photo for you. They provide umbrellas for props and guide you through some poses. Do beware as it gets closer to sunset, the line for the volunteers gets very long. Every time I've visited, the atmosphere has been fun and people are very friendly. I've seen people offer to take photos for each other too. While there is the occasional person who doesn't pay attention and walks through the pools, most people are pretty respectful and try to pay attention to their surroundings. Have fun!

A beautiful beach for family and friends get together enjoying sea water and watching sunset ... Nice café snack stores around and sea sand cleaning water area. Car parking is easy and nearby a modern toilet within. Parents beach gives really warm feelings just like the hearts of parents.
YU-CHUAN H — Google review
A perfect spot for watching the sunset. The place is crowded all the time so it could be tricky to find a spot to take pictures. For those who are not driving, there is a “shuttle taxi” service that takes you from the beach to JR stations nearby. Just be sure to make a reservation online in advance.

Zenigata Sunae

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Zenigata Sunae, a stunning sand art installation shaped like an Edo period coin, is a must-see attraction located in Kotohiki Park. Visitors can admire this impressive sculpture from a hilltop observatory that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The journey to the observatory is accessible by foot or car, though caution is advised due to its narrow one-way streets. Parking options are available for both disabled and regular vehicles, making it convenient for families and groups alike.
If you want to view the coin you should go up to 銭形展望台, from there you get a great view over the coin and the sea behind it. There is also a cool temple behind there with lots of cats!
Zoxsi — Google review
It’s mainly this giant sand sculpture really, not much to see elsewhere. The park itself provides a nice walk along the sea but really that is all.
Kenny C — Google review
This place is a hidden gem… I went there around sunset time expecting the view would be more spectacular. The view was majestic, meeting my expectation… In order to see the coin shape, u need to go up to an observatory place nearby. The road on the way to there has lots of curves, and it’s narrow a bit, so drive safely :-)
Yuki — Google review
Not much to see here but it's a pretty nice to walk around. The area is clean and overlooks the sea. There is also a bit of history as to the creation of the sand coin. Quite interesting if you're into history. However, on top of that there's not much else to sightsee or do around here.
Tia I — Google review
It is a very large coin-shaped monument molded directly out of the white sand of Ariake Beach. From the car park area of the Ariake Beach, you can walk to the reach the viewing point. For us, it was a 10 mins walk and be prepared to climb staircases. When you meet an open space with tarred-road, there’s a ‘forest route’ on the left, follow this way and continue walking for about 3 mins to reach at the viewing point. It is said that for viewers who lay eyes on the massive coin-shaped sand monument, they will be blessed with longevity and healthy life and prosperity. It is learned that the sand art is curated and surrounded by the pine trees which could be used as a barrier for resistant to wind and rain, and the maintenance of the sand-art is performed two times in a year.
Lee K — Google review
Visited at night. There's an observatory that overlooks the coin and the town nearby, which is a 5minutes drive up a narrow road. Pretty nice place to stop by along the way if you pass by by car, but not sure if it's worth your time if you're taking public transport as there isn't anything else other than the coin.
Xiang H — Google review
At this place, you can’t see this view cause here is the same attitude. You can see this view from the high place; observatory. You can go there by car only 5 min. Enjoy and make the wish; be rich!!!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful five-arch structure reminiscent of a medieval castle - it's amazing that this nationally designated important cultural property was built in the early Showa period. It is the only surviving multiple arch dam in Japan, and one of Kagawa's proud civil engineering heritage sites. When you see the dam up close, you'll be overwhelmed by its power and beauty of form. During the "Yuru-nuki (water release)" event held in the summer, water is released all at once with a thunderous sound, creating a spectacular sight. This is truly a spectacular dam. You can get a good view of the whole view from "Toyosuike Water Reservoir Park" downstream, which is also a recommended photo spot. Dam cards are also distributed, so if you're a dam lover, this is a must-have photo. It is easily accessible by car, and there is a parking lot. This dam has it all - history, structure, and scenery - so it's definitely worth visiting. (Translated by Google) August 30, 2025: I'd been curious about this dam for a long time, so I finally visited for the first time. Its retro appearance is reminiscent of a medieval fortress! [Location] It's located in the Onohara district of Kanonji City, just a short walk up the mountain. There are some narrow sections along the way, but it's not too strenuous. [Parking] There are parking spaces for disabled people and standard vehicles in front of the dam, and about 5-6 parking spaces and restrooms above the dam. Large vehicles might be able to fit in the lower parking lot, but that's just enough space for one vehicle. I arrived at 7:30 in the morning, and there was no one there, so I was able to see every detail. Even though the water wasn't flowing, the water was flowing gently, and I could hear the birds chirping and cicadas chirping. It was so refreshing! In front of the parking lot is another retro brick bridge, with a gazebo and restroom on the left, and a grassy area and the dam itself on the right. The dam wasn't releasing water, so I was able to walk all the way to the bottom, which was super exciting! lol Looking up from directly below was incredibly impressive, and in the dam's groove? I saw a mysterious valve and something resembling a legendary sword! The dam's surface had turned white, representing its 100 years of existence, and it was full of sex appeal... Near the gazebo was an equally impressive water intake. You can play on the grass here, or just quietly contemplate the dam. Next time, I'd like to see the yuru-nuki (dam water release)!

Many patrons also appreciate the good value for the tasty dishes served at Tsuruya.
Since coming to Japan, I’ve tried a lot of udon restaurants in my area and I gotta say, this is the best udon I have ever had in Kagawa. The broth is savory, yet sweet with a slight hint of citrus. The noodles are soft and chewy. The meat is fall apart in your mouth tender. Just perfection! Just remember to add the tempura bits. Beautiful!

(Translated by Google) I arrived at the restaurant around 8am on a weekday in early August. Families and couples left the restaurant with satisfied looks on their faces, heading towards JR Minoura Station or their parked cars. The restaurant is really right next to the station. When I entered, the waiter checked how many people were in the group, said, "Please sit and wait for about four more minutes," and asked, "What would you like to order?" I ordered a small bowl of udon noodles in a saucepan (380 yen). The owner runs the restaurant by himself, and is very busy boiling the udon, frying the tempura, and manning the register. Inside, there are table seats in the center and counter seats around the perimeter, but it cannot accommodate large groups. Once the noodles were cooked, the owner asked me, "Would you like them as they are? Or heated?" and I replied, "Heated." After boiling and rinsing the noodles, he reheated them and served them in a bowl. I poured the broth myself, topped it with fried tofu (200 yen), and paid. After that, I added the free toppings of green onions and grated ginger to my liking, and then ordered the free dried sardine tsukudani. The noodles were thick and not very chewy, but had a pleasant bite. The broth had a pleasant, unobtrusive flavor that made it easy to gulp down. The fried tofu had a refined, light flavor that didn't overpower the flavor of the broth, and was thick and satisfying. I remember thinking when I ordered that the shrimp tempura was 150 yen, so the fried tofu was more expensive! But the deliciousness of the fried tofu made there made it well worth the price. Also worth mentioning is the dried sardine tsukudani. They're probably made from dried sardines that have been used to make the broth, but it was incredibly delicious. It had an exquisite sweet and spicy flavor that made me wish I had kept more. If I visit again, I would like to try other tempura besides the fried tofu, but I think the dried sardine tsukudani is a must. A very nice atmosphere with great service. They also had an English menu. Everything inside looks very cute and it's a great spot. The food was very delicious and my favourite udon I've had in Japan. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!

At first glance it looks like a stylish café, but in reality it’s an absolutely amazing udon shop. The first surprise is the goats in the parking lot. The udon is thick and chewy—the classic Sanuki style. I was also intrigued by the days, a few times a month, when they serve takikomi gohan (seasoned rice). In any case, the food is outstanding, and this is a place I’d love to visit again and again.

(Translated by Google) I finally made it to Kamakiri! The food is amazing, but be careful of parking when you visit. I'd been interested in Kamakiri in Kan'onji City for a while, so I went there. When I arrived in front of the restaurant, the parking lot was extremely crowded. There are about 20 parking spaces on the premises, but there was a line of cars waiting for a space. Fortunately, I was shown inside the restaurant right away, but I had to wait a little while to park. The udon did not disappoint, with thick, chewy noodles that were very satisfying. This restaurant offers full service, where you order after sitting down, so while you can enjoy freshly boiled udon, it does seem to take a little longer for the noodles to be served. Also, you cannot choose the tempura yourself like at self-service restaurants; it is served as a set meal. This is a restaurant recommended for those who want to take their time to savor delicious, authentic udon. Allowing yourself plenty of time when visiting will help you enjoy it even more. The deep-fried Mitoyo eggplant and shiso leaf sandwich was absolutely delicious! I was also surprised at how big the kakiage tempura was. Kanakuma Mochi and Udon

$$$$affordable
Udon noodle restaurant
Kanakuma Mochi and Udon is a charming eatery that exudes a traditional ambiance. This cozy cafe offers an array of delightful dishes, including the popular udon noodle soup adorned with delectable mochi stars. The menu is thoughtfully translated into English for convenience. In addition to their scrumptious udon options, this establishment boasts a rice cake shop as well.
Wonderful restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. They have a well translated menu in English if it is necessary for you. I had the udon with grilled mochi and it was very delicious.

Famous for their mochi udon that I ate every time, though their other udon dishes are good too. Always crowded and everyone drives there so it must be good. Even if there is a queue there is the usual fast turnover for an udon restaurant, although in part this maybe because the seating is not the most comfortable. Service is friendly and efficient. If you are in the area, worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Authentic Kanakuma Mochi Fukuda Founded as a teahouse on Kanakuma Bridge, this is a long-established restaurant that has been serving udon for over 100 years. In the past, it was introduced on Kenmin Show that people in Kagawa Prefecture eat udon with bean paste, and that was certainly the case back in the day. Although this culture is on the verge of disappearing today, if you come to Kanakuma Mochi, you can try the Anmochi Udon Tempura. But, I'm sorry... I don't really like sweets, but it's disgusting and I can't touch it even if it's a joke (´;ω;`) I also recommend glutinous rice such as okowa, so it's better to give up on that. Zoni udon 640 yen, Inari sushi and shrimp okowa 280 yen, total 920 yen (tax included) What about rice in udon? I'm sure you're talking about this, but the presence of rice is indispensable when drinking the dashi soup. Mochi is called a mochi shop, but there is something that is clearly different from other places, even the inari is intense. Kanonji Temple, where Kanakuma Mochi is located, is also a production area for Iriko, so it has its own characteristics. It doesn't have an elegant taste, and it has a bitter taste from being thoroughly cooked, so it seems that pros and cons will be divided. On average, the noodles are flat and don't feel like they're being made by hand. I've said it many times, but the mochi is from a mochi shop, and it's really delicious (*゚∀゚*)♡ Lately, my work has been slow and I've been turning down most remote projects, but when I eat something like this... I want to go to Seisan often. (Translated by Google) Honba Kanakuma Mochi Fukuda is a quiet riverside udon restaurant run by a mochi (rice cake) maker. This was my first time visiting, but unfortunately, they had run out of udon. There were six bean-jamchi (shiro mochi and mugwort mochi) left in the display case, so I bought some to take home. Many staff members seemed to be tidying and cleaning the store, but the atmosphere was cheerful. The bean-jamchi I took home was very soft, filled with gently sweet bean paste. It was elegant and the best bean-jamchi. Next time, I'll come back for more udon. [Additional Note] I'm back for more. This time, I arrived before opening time. There's a bridge called Kanakuma Bridge in front of the store's parking lot, and I crossed it to get to the restaurant. The bridge is just wide enough for two minicars to pass each other, so caution was advised. Also, the road in front of the Kanakuma Mochi store is quite busy, so be careful when entering the parking lot. The store is popular, with customers coming in to buy mochi before it opens. The store is surprisingly spacious and clean. The mochi section and kitchen are on the right. As you enter, you'll find items like rice balls and inari sushi directly in front of you. The cheerful voices of the staff create a great atmosphere. As it's a service store, they'll come to take your order once you're seated. This time I ordered "kake udon" and "an zoni udon." Since I was there, I also bought a rice ball assortment to take home. I chose two packs: "sekihan and shrimp rice" and "shrimp rice and inari sushi." The kake udon had firm noodles that were chewy as soon as you bit into them. The noodles were a little flat and uneven in thickness, probably because they were hand-cut. This added to the nice texture. The noodles were not the chewy type that's popular these days, but had a firm wheat-like texture, similar to the texture of the dumplings in dango soup. The broth had a gentle, sweet flavor. The toppings were a thinly fried omelet, square fried tofu, and wakame seaweed, which was quite luxurious. The anmochi zoni udon was a bowl of udon noodles topped with anmochi. In Kagawa Prefecture, mochi filled with red bean paste is apparently included in New Year's zoni, and I felt like I got a taste of that flavor. The mochi was browned and fragrant, and the gently sweet red bean paste went surprisingly well with the broth. After returning home, I ate the rice cake set I had bought as a souvenir. I think the shrimp okowa was made with dried shrimp? The chewy shrimp had a nice texture and a strong shrimp aroma. The subtle shrimp flavor and the chewy texture of the rice were amazing. The inari sushi was also packed with plenty of ingredients and had a delicious, juicy flavor. The atmosphere and the tasting udon were both top-notch, making this a great udon restaurant. [Additional Note] This time, I came for cold udon. I ordered "Grated Daikon" (Dried Radish Bukkake). I was looking forward to cold udon, as it brings out the flavor of the noodles. When the udon was brought to me, it was shiny and glossy. It was topped with grated daikon radish, ginger, tempura flakes, lemon, and green onions. As you can see, the noodles are twisted and curly. This is evidence of their firmness. I immediately tried them, and the firm, curly noodles brought a delicious balance to the broth. The grated daikon radish and ginger also seemed to have been thoroughly squeezed to remove any moisture, which absorbed the broth and created just the right texture. This udon restaurant simply serves delicious noodles. Udon noodle restaurant
Shōhachi Udon Kotohira is a delightful stop for anyone exploring the area, especially if you're on your way to the famous Kotohiragu Shrine. Upon arrival, guests are greeted warmly by the manager who offers a taste of their signature soy sauce udon. Although only cold soy sauce udon was available during my visit, I couldn't resist ordering it. The thick noodles paired with a light and flavorful soy sauce were simply irresistible!
Skip the udon shops along the main parade and come to this one, mere minutes walk away! Don't let the prices fool you (a mere 550yen for a lunch set), these are full sized bowls of the best udon in town! This price includes a rice ball and a stick of oden, which was very smart, because you won't stop at one! The oden is one of the best I've had, with an amazing miso sauce to top it off at an incredible 50yen a stick. Warm and friendly shopkeeper. Highly recommended!

The miso soup and oden were delicious, but The udon noodles were a little thin and hard, so the texture was not compatible with large dishes. The current rating of Google Maps is 4.4, which is completely unworthy. It's like a udon restaurant in a tourist area. Self-service restaurants, which are popular with locals, are much cheaper and delicious. Also...this is wrong...the energetic guy who is serving the customers...he is extremely friendly and gives a good impression to the customers, He was angry at the old man and woman who were cooking in the kitchen in a really bossy tone. Although he is very friendly towards the customers, his attitude makes the food taste bad. Udon noodle restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Kagawa, 柳川製麺所 やな川うどん 本店 is a charming establishment that has been delighting diners since its inception in 1927. This long-standing restaurant features a cozy atmosphere with limited seating options, including counter spots and tatami rooms, creating an intimate dining experience. Behind the scenes lies a bustling noodle factory that produces not only their renowned udon but also soba and Chinese noodles for local supermarkets.
Item ordered : Tempura Toji (天とじ) Tempura is added on the egg udon. Quantities are extremely generous for the price they offer. Taste was delicious, broth was light and homey. Service was great and the ladies are not shy, so go for a little chat!

(Translated by Google) "So thin," my companion muttered as he looked at the udon. Yes, the noodles here at Yanagawa are thin. We arrived around 1:30 pm on a weekday in mid-August. The restaurant was packed with people, so we waited outside. After waiting about 15 minutes, we were able to enter. The rice balls and inari sushi were already sold out, so my companion ordered "kake udon (400 yen)." I went for "kitsune udon (450 yen)." When the udon arrived, I was a little disappointed. My "kitsune udon" came with two small pieces of fried tofu. My companion's "kake udon," on the other hand, came with a piece of chikuwa (fish cake), two slices of kamaboko (fish cake), and one piece of fried tofu. Somehow, the cheaper "kake udon" looked more luxurious. The green onions on top were finely chopped scallions. "The green onions are really thin," I said, and my companion added, "The noodles are thin, too. Really thin." I wasn't sure what "really" meant, but my companion seemed to like the thin noodles. I thought, "These noodles aren't bad, but I'd like them to be thicker and more chewy." After we finished eating, we paid by declaring the price. I'm sure the staff still had a note of when they took our order. Even so, customers continued to come in nonstop, even after it was past 2 o'clock. I realized that Yanagawa Noodle Factory must be quite popular. Hakueido Yanagimachi Main store

$$$$affordable
Japanese confectionery shop
Hakueido Yanagimachi Main store in Kanonji is known for its wide variety of Japanese confectionery souvenirs. Traditionally, these souvenirs could only be purchased at Kannonji, but recently they have also been made available at Takamatsu Station on select days of the week. One highly recommended souvenir is the Kannonji Manju, a sweet treat that features a dough resembling Western confectionery filled with refreshing white bean paste.
Excellent tearoom experience. Delicious matcha with a little treat - we probably didn’t need the extra cream-filled cake but it was also very tasty!

Kanakumamochi

Kanakumamochi is a popular restaurant known for its delicious mochi dishes. The noodles are thin and have a smooth, sashimi-like texture, making them a unique twist on Sanuki udon. The mochi served here is particularly noteworthy, with freshly made red bean paste mochi and warabi mochi available. Additionally, the restaurant offers special products that are only available on specific dates. Despite being busy, the large parking lot can accommodate many customers.

Ogane Mochi Udon (Large) ¥1410 Kane Mochi Bukkake (Cold) ¥860 Tempura Set ¥1150 Anmochi Tempura ¥170 Chicken Cutlet ¥120 Mame Daifuku (Bean Paste Daifuku) ¥150 Takase Tea Daifuku ¥160 Visited on a weekday at 11:50 AM. The restaurant was already full, so we waited about 20 minutes to get a seat. My goal this time was to get the good luck ogane mochi udon! The price is quite high and a bit of a gimmick, but I believe it will bring good fortune, so I'm investing in it. Other dishes include anmochi tempura, chicken cutlet, mame daifuku, and Takase Tea Daifuku, all for over ¥2000 at this udon restaurant! The meal arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering. The Ogane Mochi Udon is quite impressive, topped with shrimp crackers branded with Zenigata's sand art, anko mochi, shrimp tempura, and gold leaf. The noodles are the old-fashioned noodle factory type with a moderate firmness. The dashi broth is a classic one with a hint of dried sardine, and the udon itself is quite average. The other toppings were also average, but the anko mochi was in a class of its own! Surprisingly, it paired well with the dashi broth and was the standout! The anko mochi is a regular size, but with the mochi inside, it feels like half an extra ball. Of course, the anko mochi tempura is also super tasty! The theory that sweet things are best when deep-fried is definitely true! We took two daifuku to go and ate them in the car on the way home, and both were fantastic! The Takasecha Daifuku in particular had an incredible matcha flavor and is a must-try for matcha lovers! Another recommendation is the set meal. The menu offers an excellent selection of udon, side dishes, rice, and salad, all priced around 1,000 yen, so value for money isn't bad. In fact, quite a few customers ordered the set meal. This restaurant is partially self-service, and its variety beyond just udon makes it incredibly popular. The mochi and daifuku (rice cakes) in particular are incredibly popular, and by the time I arrived at 11:50, they were running low. Reservations are available, so it's a must to order in advance when you enter. The price difference between Oogane Mochi Udon and Kane Mochi Udon is 580 yen, and the only difference is the tiny bit of gold leaf. So, honestly, the value for money seems pretty poor, but it's worth it if you consider it a lucky charm for good fortune. It seems like rice refills used to be free with set meals, but perhaps due to the rising cost of rice, this has been discontinued. Frankly, there were so many other items that appealed to me more than the udon, so I'd definitely like to return and try different ones. Thank you for the meal🙇🏻‍♂️ (Original) 「金運上昇⁉︎ご利益うどん!」

We arrived around noon, but were able to park quickly. As soon as we entered, a friend greeted us, saying, "Please take any available seat." My friend ordered the Kanemochi Udon (720 yen) and chose the sweet bean paste mochi for the mochi. I went with the Kanemochi Bukkake (860 yen) and opted for the sweet bean paste mochi tempura. The bukkake is more expensive, but perhaps this is because it comes with shrimp tempura and grated daikon radish on top. I thought combining udon noodles with sweet bean paste mochi might seem a bit strange, but it was surprisingly exquisite. I can see why it has been this restaurant's signature dish for so long. Not only is the sweet bean paste mochi delicious, but the udon noodles are even more tasty. The shiny, smooth noodle surface was so pleasant I could eat as much as I wanted. Hiroshima Airport is a convenient hub for domestic and some international flights to Asia. The airport offers various amenities such as the Foo chocolate factory on the third floor, which produces high-quality chocolate and vegan treats. Visitors can also enjoy plane watching from the viewing platform for a small fee. While there is no direct train connection to the city, a regular and comfortable limousine bus service is available. The airport features restaurants, cafes, shops, and airline services across its three levels.
This is my favourite airport in Japan because it's quiet and not crowded. No 8000 mile walk between terminals like Haneda. Just 1 terminal, easy. Couple of eateries, souvenir shops, smoking rooms and an upstairs observation deck. Some old ladies were up there drinking beers?

Small but does the work! We arrived by bus and it wasn’t a hustle. There’s few areas inside the airport to buy food or snacks and the prices were reasonable. Document control was fast;there’s details of what you can bring in apart from the water and there’s babysits to carry kids around. Comfortable airport chairs(could be cleaner) and Fancy toilet doors at least for the females .

Its an ok small airport. As many people say, it is very far from Hiroshima city, but there are many bus options that run almost all day, there are no local trains options anywhere close. There is now a rental car option nearby if you want to drive a car. All the restaurant options are on the outside of security so eat before you screen. There are good gift shops and displays to look at here. Have flown in/out of here for many years and its always quick service.

Small airport but user friendly. There is free space for you to have food and wait for the bus. There are several bus routes to Hiroshima and other places. There is a convenient store.

If I revisit the Chugoku region, I would choose KIX or FUK instead. First, the location is remote. No railways to connect. Only buses and they mainly go to JR Hiroshima and Hondori. That means u mean long waiting time or no option for other places. Instructions for public transport are not clear. Second, not many food or shops. Only a few food stores and shops. Better buy some food from convenience store. Last, the ground crew was not professional. My luggage was damaged and the crew directly gave me a sheet of paper. She demanded me to sign without informing me of the T&C. She kept demanding me to sign under the situation which I did not understand or agree to the T&C. And the T&C was actually a disclaimer. I thought she was trying to do fewer jobs and take on more responsibilities. Moreover, the crew did not confirm the luggage with us. She mixed up the name of the luggage with my partner's without any communication. The only thing good is not many routes there. It is a small airport so u can go through customs without a long queue. I would rather buy a JR pass and choose FUK or KIX than choose HIJ.

"I was there yesterday. There are lots of changes happening .and it amaze me.especially the robot thing.I will be back at Jan 28 for another flight.and to see more updates on its improvement.so far I got good services provided by the airport and it's nice"

A typical Japanese regional airport. The airport has shops that sell local delicacies such as peach pudding and black curry. The airport's lounge for international passengers - the Muscat lounge can be accessed both by business class passengers, and even economy passengers can pay 1100 yen to access the lounge. Due to its small amount of international flights, the TSA check and immigration opens 1.5 hours before the flight departs. Despite its size, it also features an observation deck, which offers a great view of the apron and the runway. Reaching Okayama airport usually involves an airport limousine-bus ride from Okayama city. However, when arriving here from other cities like Kurashiki, a taxi ride is a must as public transportation is pretty much non-existent.

Lovely small regional airport.Free parking areas 2,3,4. One convenience store before you go through security as well as coffee shop. Small souvenir shop domestic side. Staff friendly and helpful.

Typical rural Japanese airport. Nothing unique, special. Compact and clean having enough number of shops and restaurants for the size of the airport.

Small airport, but you can find some souvenirs related to Momotaro San here (also some famous Japanese snacks from other cities)

Great small airport, although it's only offering domestic flights at the moment. Good transport links to both Okayama and Kurashiki stations with free parking. The airport is really small and even when busy getting through security will only take 5 minutes and the gates are a few steps away. Flights to Taiwan start this month, March 2023.

A relatively small domestic airport. Fairly large parking space. Airline lounge is located after passing through the security area. The security area can be quite busy and long queue can be expected. The lounge itself is quite small.

I only flew through this airport one time, and it was more than 3 or 4 years ago, so I can't say my review is comprehensive. But I just do recollect that I like the fact that this fairly small airport was somehow tucked into the middle of some rolling hills, which were carved away to create an airport. The services in the airport were okay but not great while the flights are on time (pretty much as you would expect in Japan anyhow) and I had absolutely no trouble navigating the facility.

Kōchi Airport

Airport
Sights & Landmarks
Kōchi Airport, also known as Kōchi Ryoma Airport, is named after the samurai revolutionary Ryoma Sakamoto. It offers flights to and from major Japanese airports such as Haneda, Narita, Komaki, Chubu Centrair International, Osaka International, Kobe and Fukuoka.
Pretty nice domestic flight-only airport. There's not much enough to see in the airport terminal except for the extensive souvenir shops and a few tataki restaurants. The waving gallery on the rooftop of the terminal building, like most Japanese airports, is very pleasant and surprisingly spacious, although the airport itself doesn't see that many flights. The airport bus to downtown Kochi is located at the first floor, just outside the airport terminal. I think given the proximity of the airport to the nearest rail lines (Gomen-Nahari line and the Tosaden streetcar - the latter ended short at neighborhood of Gomen), it could've been better if one of these was extended to serve the airport, giving affordable and more seamless connection to the rest of the city, and even far afield throughout other parts of the prefecture. FYI, if you are fond of unconventional souvenirs, you can find cute Tataki Pillow that is sold at the airside after the security screening.

空港管制官,Air Traffic Control(ATC) tower staff is sooooo nice,so kind, very cheerful, professional and clear to understand. especially for private jet pilots or private helicopter pilots, we often experience difficulty to repeat ATC phrase because of too fast speaking w uncleared voice. unlike other airports' ATC, Kouchi Airport ATC is the best. as for the airport terminal, not so many shops or res though, easy to walk around.

There is a sign on the piller,, but I did not see it. The desk clerk was great and directed me to the check-in counter.

It's not as lively as other international airports with malls and all that, but Kochi Ryoma Airport serves its purpose. It has enough restaurants and omiyage stores, many seats available to rest on, and of course clean and comfortable automatic bathrooms. Also, there are displays for Kochi's popular places where you can take photos and make you feel like you've already toured the place.

Pleasant journey, thank you Kochi Airport.

Small, mostly domestic airport serving south west Shikoku Island. Most of the flights are in and out Tokyo and Osaka, with a few others to places such as Nagoya. Good thing is that don't need to allow very much time to get from curbside to gate.

Small airport in Kochi City. You can access the city from a bus right outside the airport.
Nikki A — Google review
Usually not too busy. It is very near to the Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science of Kochi University, about 5 minutes by walk. It will take about 30 minutes to reach in the Kochi city from here. Bus is available to go Kochi city and it costs about 700 yen. There are not any convenient store or super shop available at least 5 km around the airport. Please buy your necesssy snacks or drinks from the airport. There are no international flights from here. Flights in all prefectures of Japan is available, it is quite difficult to contact by English.

Takamatsu Airport

Airport
Regional airport
Takamatsu Airport offers convenient transportation options, including a limousine bus that takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Kawaramachi Station. From there, travelers can access the Kotoden Line to Hanazono Station. The airport also provides free private parking for guests. Nearby attractions include the ruins of Takamatsu Castle and Kagawas Prefectural Museum, as well as the beautiful Ritsurin Koen garden, just a short train ride away.
Small local restaurant but many things you can enjoy. We enjoyed eating udons from two different restaurants (one on the first floor and the other is on the second floor). Both udon restaurants provide different styles and I liked both of them. Also gift shops have lots of udon items, yadon character items, and local stuff. We found lemon cakes are so tasty and olive soda was interesting but a must try item. The check in counters are located on the first floor and security check lines are on the second floor. There are small duty free shops and vending machines after the security check.

It's a small airport but it's super easy to navigate. The Airport Limousine (shuttles for getting into town centre) is just a few steps outside the sliding door, which make it even more convenient. Baggage belt was fast, custom straightforward. There is also a Metro but need to walk further down.

My partner and I often use this airport when we visit family. It’s convenients enough - not too big to navigate and get lost in and not too small either so it accommodates just the right number of shops for souvenirs and restaurants for meals before/after a flight. There are international flights as well, but to a couple of limited countries and cities. There’s a very simple credit card lounge, but unfortunately no lounges operated by Japan’s 2 biggest carriers. The airport is probably most famous for the faucets where you can get dashi (soup stock) for udon. Try it!

A relative small airport. Few shops between domestic and international departure floor; one duty free shop and one gate inside the international terminal.

a small but has-it-all airport. my only complaint is it’s such an important airport for setouchi art triennial goers but they don’t have the JR tkt station here. so inconvenient that you NEED to go to okayama. you’ll also need to take a bus to reach the train system. it’s only bus or taxi here.

This airport was as small as expected. It mainly served domestic flights, plus a few international flights. Therefore, the terminal was not so busy all the time. When I arrived there by plane, it took about an hour for the customs clearance. At that time, the number of passengers from the plane was about 180. Two counters were operating, and only one or two officers could speak some English. Airplanes could park by the terminal and connected by a covered footbridge. Luggage was not damaged, which sounded good. There were several eateries and souvenir shops. Toilets were clean. Since udon was made in this province, I chose to eat in one noodle shop on the second floor. The quality was fine. But beware of the business hours because the lunch serving time was finished early. The staff in the souvenir shops were friendly. There were car rental representatives on duty in their respective counter, who led their customers to the shuttle van because all car rental companies were located in the surrounding area. A theme park was built adjacent to the airport.

*This is a review for the domestic terminal only* Takamatsu is a compact airport. 2 floors and only a few shops. I used the domestic terminal and I wasn’t especially impressed with the organization or facilities available. Compared with other small sized airports in Japan it seems a little dated and poorly maintained. The security checked was very disorganized and it seemed that the staff were a little overwhelmed on a busy Friday afternoon (JAL, ANA and Jet Star all had flights leaving). There were many people standing as there clearly isn’t enough seating for the volume of passengers. Finally, once you are airside there are only 2 small kiosks for food, drink and souvenirs. So make sure the eat, drink and shop before heading through security.

Good rural airport. 40 mins to/from the city center. Good restaurants and shops and 1 modern cafe inside. It is a pity not to have an airline lounge, though.
