Mountains
Hiruzen is a renowned recreational area featuring three mountain peaks and a diverse mix of wildlife, meadows, and trails. The drive through this area offers breathtaking natural scenery from spring to autumn. Along the way towards Oyama, visitors can stop at the "devil stand outlook resting place" to enjoy a 360-degree panorama of Hiruzen and Oyama.
There is a three picks traverse course on Hiruzen mountain. During the hike I had good view on the surroundings and the mountain itself. The weather was good and I could see also nearby Daisen mountain with itsrocky pick. The hiking course is diversed and not too difficult. It took me 4,5 hours.

(Translated by Google) You can traverse from Shimo-Hiruzen to Kami-Hiruzen. I think a young person like me can get from the funeral home to the Kami-Hiruzen trailhead in just over 5 hours. Shimo-Hiruzen is nice, but I think you can also enjoy the journey to Naka-Hiruzen and Kami-Hiruzen. However, there are several steep slopes, so you will need to take a short break several times. As for the traverse process, I parked my car at the funeral home, traversed, walked 3.5 km from the Kami-Hiruzen trailhead to the bus stop called "Yubuneguchi", and walked 3.4 km from the bus stop called "Michimeki" back. The whole process took about 7 hours, so it didn't feel too difficult. The last bus was at 17:05, and the vending machines were only near the funeral home or the bus stop, so it seems like you need to be careful around there.

(Translated by Google) A volcano that straddles Okayama and Tottori prefectures. It seems that hundreds of thousands of years have passed since it stopped being active, so it has lost its volcanic character. There are three mountain peaks, upper, middle and lower, each with its own independent climbing route. The road is well maintained and clear with almost no branches. You won't have to worry about getting lost, so even people with little experience can feel at ease. It is also possible to traverse the mountain through three seats, making it easy to return to the starting point from the descent. It is also a recommended mountain for first time traverse hikers. Traverse from Shimohiruzen trailhead. The total distance is approximately 9.5km. It took me 210 minutes to walk at a slightly faster pace without taking much breaks. Standard course time is 330 minutes. Looking at the whole thing, I feel that the time required and the physical exertion are not much different no matter which way you climb from the upper or lower trailhead. However, since the climb from Shimo-Hiruzen is susceptible to sunlight, I think it's best to go through it in the morning when it's cool. Please refer to the reviews for each section for details. Clothes and shoes suitable for light mountain climbing are suitable. Even though the mountain is easy to climb, it is best not to wear casual clothes or sneakers as this can lead to fatigue and injury. There are some places where chains are installed to assist in going up and down. I didn't grab anything, but if you're worried, bring gloves. After descending the mountain, use the community bus to return to the trailhead where you started the climb. The nearest bus stop is Yufunuguchi if you are at the Kami-Hiruzen trailhead, and Doumeki is the closest bus stop if you are at the Shimo-Hiruzen trailhead. The fare is 200 yen no matter how far you ride. Currency cannot be exchanged on the bus, so you will need to prepare the exact amount. Both routes are 3.5km from the trailhead to the bus stop, and take 40 to 50 minutes to walk. Check the bus departure time in advance. It runs approximately every 2 hours or less. By the way, I made the mistake of seeing off the bus right in front of the bathtub. I didn't have the mental strength to wait two hours in front of an all-you-can-eat Genghis Khan restaurant crowded with friends and family for the next flight, so I returned on foot along the same route as the bus. It was about 9.2km from the entrance of the bathtub to Michomeki, a two-hour walk. If you miss your train, there is a convenience store if you go about 2km south from the entrance of the bathtub, depending on the waiting time. Kamifukuda bus stop is right nearby, so it's easy to wait. If you can't wait, you'll have no choice but to call a taxi, so be careful.

(Translated by Google) I ran the route from Kami Hiruzen to Naka Hiruzen to Shimo Hiruzen. It was a fun climb with great views throughout, and perhaps because of the thick fog, I was able to see a sea of clouds as well. On the other hand, perhaps because of the fog, the ground was very muddy, and I slipped and landed on my butt and hands about 30 times. That's the only negative point. Since it was a vertical hike, I took a taxi (Hiruun Kotsu) to the parking lot after descending the mountain. It was 4,500 yen from the lower Hiruzen parking lot to the upper Hiruzen parking lot.

Kanba Falls

Waterfalls
Kanba Falls, located in Okayama Prefecture, is the largest waterfall in Western Japan and is recognized as one of the top 100 waterfalls in the country. With a 110-meter cliff from which water falls over a 20-meter-wide area, it offers a stunning natural spectacle. The surrounding nature has earned it a place among Japan's 100 Landscapes.
This is a beautiful waterfall worthy of being in Japan's top 20 waterfalls. In the early winter, the different leave colours add a certain vibrancy to the scenery, accentuated by the blue skies. The community of Japanese macaques were out in full force earlier today. Visitors are to exercise caution when traversing the rock steps as they are uneven and can be slippery. Interestingly, Osaka University's Department of Culture & Anthropology has a site facility near there for observation and research.

This is a very pretty place and very easy walking from the car park to the waterfall, which is really impressive. There are many momiji trees there, so I will definitely visit again in autumn. There is also a cave in the rocks near the entrance gate which is worth visiting, although you should be aware that it is quite a steep walk. (Dogs are understandably not allowed given that there are lots of monkeys there 😃).
Peter G — Google review
A beautiful waterfall, an incredible place if you love nature area. We went there on May, we look forward to visit again at Autumn and Winter. Suggest to visit on weekday, less people, quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately we didn’t see any monkey, maybe we come at the wrong time. Easy to go by driving, two car parks could fit for 20 cars.
Wai F — Google review
2nd time here we came because of the snow (1st week of February 2025) 🥰 Feels like we are in elsa’s world. No monkey on winter but we saw a lot in July 2024
Grace P — Google review
Hands down to the most beautiful falls I’ve ever seen in JP (44/47 prefectures travelled) mamushi warning signs. Easy 10min walk. Don’t use gmaps or it will lead you to the wrong place with very very skimpy road as it did to us.
Hal M — Google review
Great fall, don't follow the Google directions at the very end. It will send you down a super narrow death road. Follow the sign and 1/4 mile down the road you have come to the new fall access, so much better
Thinh V — Google review
This is one of the top 100 falls in Japan. It is really beautiful and worth the short walk and entrance fee. Beware of the monkeys, they seem used to people walking closely to them but it would be easy to "lose" a pair of glasses or a phone.
Judy O — Google review
Really glad I visited! Monkeys were a huge surprise. Definitely one of the better waterfalls!

Hiruzen Jersey Land

Sights & Landmarks
Hiruzen Jersey Land, located in northern Okayama, offers a delightful experience with jersey cows and horseback riding. Indulge in the delectable soft-serve made from fresh jersey milk while enjoying the scenic mountain views. In addition to purchasing delicious cheese and dairy products, visitors can also try their hand at milking a cow for a rewarding bottle of milk. Despite the summer heat, this place is definitely worth a visit for an unforgettable experience.
If you love dairy then this is a great place for soft serve, creamy milk, cheese and sausages! Definitely get the strong cheese and cream puff!!! As a bonus you also get to run in the sunflower fields!

We went near closing, but still enjoyed feeding the horses and taking in the scenery. We went the day after heavy rain, so some places were hard to walk through, but it was still quite beautiful.
Ashley T — Google review
There is not actually very much to do at Jersey Land, especially if the weather isn't good. If they're outside, the cows never seem to be very close so the only possible interaction with any animal is to pay to ride a tame pony round a paddock. There is a small shop and a restaurant, but not much else...
Phil V — Google review
The day I visited, it was heavy snow and so cold. Their food is so tasty and the service is so nice like a hotel.
Google review
Admittedly coming from the UK, we see a lot of cows and such in our countryside so it is not a particularly interesting tourist attraction for other people who have similar access to the countryside and agriculture. Having said that the facility itself is well presented and offers a wide range of dairy products including ice creams and cheeses made from their own herd's milk. The surrounding views are beautiful. Not worth making a special journey for, but worth a stop if you're in the area anyway.
Kidd W — Google review
Awesome experience! Also you can buy some really delicious cheese and dairy goods here. If you get a chance to milk a cow, it is totally worth the 700¥. You get a bottle of milk when you finish!
Stephanie M — Google review
This is a great place up in northern Okayama. You can see jersey cows here and as well as ride horses. The softcream made from fresh jersey milk is absolutely something you must try yourself. During the summer it can get hot, so don't be fooled even though you're up in the mountains.

We came while it was closed, but the staff was kind enough to allow us to experience the garden. The architecture is unique and the greenery is, well, very green.

First floor can enjoy hand-made dry floor decoration. Super nice place with country design and decoration. By the way, the closed period for this winter is from 30 November 2017 to 1 April 2018 due to snow.

Hiruzen Kogen Center & Joyful Park is a mountain-view amusement park offering a variety of rides, fairground games, and mini golf. The park also features a cafe serving local highland specialties like Hiruzen yakisoba and jingisukan. Visitors can explore the shopping center showcasing regional products and specialty items.
I had an amazing day in Hiruzen Kogen Center! We didn’t see much snow in the Okayama city so it’s definitely a great place to make a day-trip for a snowy day vacation if you happen to be in the prefecture~ The jingisukan was very delicious 🥹🤤They serve halal-certified lamb for the barbecue so it’s very muslim-friendly and even delicious salt & pepper mix for people who can’t consume the sauce because it contains mirin. The ice cream making experience was also very fun! I had never made handmade ice cream before and I find the ball-rolling method a very interesting way to make the ice cream, kids love it very much too~ It’s February so we were able to participate in the annual “Yuki Koi Snow Festival” and tried making miniature snow igloos by ourselves. I have never tried it before so I’m not good at making them but they even provide tools that we can use to decorate them, other people also made things like snow sculpture and snowman, it looks very cool! They also offers candle in the afternoon to insert in the snow igloos so people can enjoy beautiful snow illumination when the sun is setting~ There are also many food stalls that sells things like croquettes and fries and soft cream made using the infamous Hiruzen jersey milk which tastes very delicious 💕 I also really love the taste of the Hiruzen jersey milk cheese cake and jingisukan curry that I bought as souvenirs (many of the souvenirs also use halal ingredients, for those who are interested in buying them). I would definitely visit this place again someday if I have the chance~

Had the most amazing time in Hiruzen, Okayama with my family! We indulged in the most delicious halal lamb paired with fresh vegetables. Then, we got hands-on and learned how to make ice cream in a ball – so fun! After filling up the ball, we played and even danced with it together! Next, we took advantage of the winter wonderland there to build an igloo and slide through the snow. As the evening fell, we lit candles inside the igloos, creating the most magical illumination. And of course, we couldn’t leave without picking up some tasty snacks at the souvenir shop! Unforgettable memories made here in Hiruzen!

I often stop by this SA going back to Yonago. They have really yummy sundae ice cream made from fresh cow’s milk from Hiruzen.

Shiogama Cold Spring is a picturesque natural wonder located in Japan, renowned for its crystal-clear spring water that flows at a constant 11 degrees year-round. This cold spring has been recognized as one of Japan's top springs and originates from the foothills of Nakahiruzen, serving as one of the sources of the Asahi River. The surrounding area offers various amenities such as cafes, lodges, campgrounds, parks, and fish hatcheries that make use of its pristine waters.
Cleanest tastiest water I have had in a while!!! You can not drink from the spring but there's fountain by the carpark for you to top up Bottles and a veggie stand with the freshest produce. I got a watermelon and 2 corn.
Shirling A — Google review
Small cold spring (11C year round) - you can see where the water bubbles up from underground. You can't take water directly from the spring but there is a fountain close by where you can fill up bottles. Good parking, food options (restaurant/local veg stand) near. Recently been re-done into an impressive campsite (if a little expensive) with tree-top tents etc.

It's a cute little cold spring. Doesn't really shut at 5pm it's in a campsite so I think it's accessible later. It's just a spring though and it doesn't seem you're allowed to drink direct from it? Idk nice but maybe not worth a special visit!

Daigo-Sakura is a remarkable 1,000-year-old cherry blossom tree located on a hill that attracts crowds during its blooming season in April. Despite being just one tree, it captivates visitors with its thick trunk and stunning beauty. Accessible by car with parking and toilets available, the site can get crowded even on weekdays. The uphill walk may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but the breathtaking sight of the fully bloomed sakura makes it worth the visit.
Gorgeous 1000+ year old cherry blossom tree on top of the hill. Is super popular in full bloom, so mind the long traffic queues (over 3 hours at times!) best to go first thing, or they light it up at night too. simply gorgeous.
Laura P — Google review
Another creme of the crop of sakura tree in japan. Ranked in the top 5 of japanese sakura tree. It was awesome and you cant describe how incredible the view is. The tree is huge with a great legend about how emperor daigo came and visited it. Hence the name daigo zakura. Personally I dont really think emperor daigo visited it because of the remoteness of the tree being high up the mountain and there isn't anything else related to emperor daigo historically in the surrounding areas. Nevertheless, legend is made to have a great story to complement the great sakura. Highly recommended though it's really hard to come to this place. Which makes it even nicer since there is less crowds and not too touristy.
Haru G — Google review
A natural wonder, even when not in full bloom. This thousand year old tree is amazing. Tourists be respectful, don't go inside the roped area and don't touch the trees. Police routinely turn up! Very busy during spring, but worth the wait.
Michael A — Google review
It's a beautiful tree and if you're in the area anyway, worth a visit. The weather was bad when I visited, so I didn't have to wait to park and was able to enjoy the sakura in relative peace. Glad I went.
Judy O — Google review
Ok, so, I was very happy with this for a few reasons. 1) Its a giant, beautiful cherry blossom tree. 2) Its old and has been in the are for over 100 something years and has been tended to this entire time. 3) The people working at the tree were all very pleasent to talk to and open to answering questions about the tree and surrounding area.

I came when it was fully bloomed and it was amazing! Sakuras are beautiful but this one belongs to the level above "beautiful". It worths the 1hour and half from Okayama. If you come around, you have to come and see it by yourself!

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience, YouYou is a must-visit spot that specializes in Hiruzen Yakisoba. This unique dish features a miso sauce that surprisingly resembles the texture of salt yakisoba, offering an incredibly tasty twist. On weekdays, you might find it easier to snag a seat without waiting long, as many patrons flock to this popular eatery. The regular set meal comes highly recommended and pairs perfectly with their juicy fried chicken.
Delicious Hiruzen Yakisoba! It was very tasty and I could've gone for more. The karaage was also very delicious.

(Translated by Google) In conclusion, I'll definitely be coming back 👍 This was my first time here. A few years ago, I tried Hiruzen yakisoba at a roadside station in Okayama, but it was too sweet for my taste and I left it, so ever since then I've thought that Hiruzen yakisoba just doesn't suit my taste. However, this restaurant has good reviews and is raved about by YouTubers I subscribe to...so I thought I'd give it a try...✋️ I arrived around 2:30 PM, and there was no one in line, so I thought I'd be able to get a seat right away, but there were actually nine groups waiting!😱😱😱 Even though it was a weekday...and well past lunchtime...everyone else seemed to be waiting in their cars, but I was on my motorcycle, so I waited an hour in the blazing sun.😭😭😭 An hour later, I was finally called and it was time to order!❗ I ordered the Hiruzen Yakisoba Set Meal, a slice of fried chicken, and a non-alcoholic beer.✋️ It was worth the wait in the scorching sun!👍 The taste completely overturned my previous impression of Hiruzen Yakisoba!❗I was quite surprised!😱 "It's completely different from the one I had before!💦" "...So delicious...The fried chicken was amazing..." "I wasn't really excited, but I'm so glad I came!🩷" If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by!👍👍👍 (Original)

(Translated by Google) I'd been interested in this restaurant for a while, but had always given up because there was always a long line. However, I was able to go on a weekday, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived at 10:45 and there was one group there. Even when they opened at 11:00, there were only three groups there, including me. I was shown to a table and chose the regular Hiruzen Yakisoba set meal (1,150 yen) and two pieces of fried chicken (420 yen). After a 15-minute wait, my bowl arrived. The Hiruzen Yakisoba was a miso-flavored, chicken-flavored, rather dry-feeling fried noodles, but it had a strong flavor and was perfect as a side dish for rice. The fried chicken was not crispy, but moist, juicy, and plump. In terms of value for money, I feel like this is about what you'd expect in today's world. (Translated by Google) 2025/6/8 I came here with a friend the first time and it was delicious, so I visited again the second time. This restaurant is famous for its Hiruzen Yakisoba and fried chicken. The delicious smell of garlic and miso was wafting outside the restaurant lol [Parking] There is a large parking lot next to the restaurant with unclear dividing lines. However, since it is a popular restaurant, I think it will be difficult to park a large vehicle on weekends. I arrived after 13:00 on Sunday, and there were about 15 people in front of the restaurant and many people waiting in their cars. This time I waited about 40 minutes before eating. There is a ticket machine with waiting numbers in front of the entrance, and the system is that you are called in order. If you download the dedicated app with the QR code and register for the email newsletter, you can get a 100 yen discount or yogurt (only once). Because it was a weekend, the total amount was 100 yen higher, so I used the 100 yen discount. At the entrance, there was Hiruzen Yakisoba sauce for souvenirs. There were about four counter seats, four table seats, and one tatami room seat. This time, we had to order by smartphone, which was honestly a pain. My smartphone was out of battery, and I thought it must be difficult for the elderly. I ordered Hiruzen Yakisoba and one piece of fried chicken. The fried noodles were chewy and thick, with garlic miso and shichimi for a different flavor, and it was delicious as expected. However, compared to last time, the chicken thighs were small, hard, and few in number, so I wondered what they did... The fried chicken was also smaller, and the taste was good, and it was juicy, but it was sticky with oil around the mouth... I wonder if they didn't have time to drain the oil because there were too many customers... It's a bit disappointing that they can't keep up with the popularity of the restaurant, as the food is very delicious. But it's so addictive that you'll want to eat it again and again, so it's a restaurant I'll definitely want to visit again next time I come to Hiruzen! (Translated by Google) I had Hiruzen Yakisoba. This restaurant primarily specializes in yakisoba. (They also have side dishes, but they're limited.) Those unfamiliar with the Kansai culture of eating yakisoba with rice might find it a challenge. It's similar to yakisoba bread. It looked like a generous portion, so I initially ordered it as a la carte, but many other customers ordered the set meal, so I couldn't resist and switched to the set meal. It was very filling. There was a wait, but the restaurant is spacious and the turnover is good, so you can get in after a short wait. (I visited during the Obon holiday, but it was raining heavily, so it might not be as usual. Considering that they only serve yakisoba, it might get quite busy on weekends.) These dishes have unique names: the standard version is Hiruzen Yakisoba, the one with a fried egg is Asazen Yakisoba, and the one with pickled ginger is Yuzen Yakisoba. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the yakisoba, but it was delicious. I couldn't drink because I was renting a car, but I think it would be truly wonderful to be able to eat yakisoba and drink beer on a nice day. There was astragalus root attached to the kamaage soba, probably because it didn't come with soba hot water or not. The tempura that comes with the nabeyaki udon was crispy and delicious. Himawari-kan (Shimo-Yubara Onsen)

Outdoor bath
Restaurant
Nestled in the serene surroundings of Shimo-Yubara Onsen, Himawari-kan is a delightful destination that offers more than just relaxation. Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by an expansive open-air bath where the soothing waters flow directly from the source, providing a smooth and rejuvenating experience. The temperature hovers around a comfortable 38 degrees, making it perfect for unwinding after a long day. But that's not all!
I'm writing this review about the restaurant specifically and not the onsen. I've eaten here twice and have been quite satisfied. The portions are quite big considering the prices average ¥1000.You order using a ticket vending machine but the quality of food is much higher than one would expect. I had the grilled chicken with soba for lunch but it felt like a dinner-sized meal. The presentation was fancy and photogenic. The second time I went, I tried the GBA burger. "GBA" isn't an initialism but an easy way to pronounce "gibier" which is French for "game meat." It was a beautiful burger with lettuce, tomato and cheese made with a deer and boar meat patty. There was no gaminess and it was hearty and satisfying and was much better than most regular hamburgers that I've had in Japan. It was served with french fries even though they aren't listed on the menu. I asked the staff for hot sauce and they served me a small dish of freshly made green chili sauce. They warned me it was super spicy and it was. Luckily I enjoy extra spicy food. The chef (assume she was the chef) spoke excellent English. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes here in the future.

You can adjust the amount of hot water for your pet by draining the hot water, so it is suitable for small dogs. My dog seemed to enjoy it as well. The dog's fur is extremely moist and fluffy due to the hot water flowing directly from the source. There was also a shop attached to the building, where they sold venison and other items, and you could also eat and drink inside. I ate a game burger and venison soba. It was also nice that there was a special seat for pets. Probably because I went on a weekday, it was empty and I was able to bathe my pet without waiting. Soba noodle shop
Nestled in the charming Maniwa City of Okayama Prefecture, Isshin-an is a delightful spot for soba enthusiasts. This cozy eatery offers a unique twist on traditional soba, allowing diners to choose between coarsely ground and finely chopped noodles. On my visit, I savored the Shamo zaru soba paired with herring grated yam—a truly exquisite combination! The atmosphere was inviting, with several tables available for guests to enjoy their meals comfortably.
The Okonomiyaki and other dishes were excellent. The ordering is done by a tablet and it is a bit difficult to understand and order. The atmosphere is pleasant and also I liked the fact that they cook the Okonomiyaki and bring it ready instead of just dumping all the raw component and expecting you to cook it.

There is not actually very much to do at Jersey Land, especially if the weather isn't good. If they're outside, the cows never seem to be very close so the only possible interaction with any animal is to pay to ride a tame pony round a paddock. There is a small shop and a restaurant, but not much else...

KogenTei, a renowned yakiniku eatery, offers an exceptional yakisoba special that is unparalleled in taste. The delectable flavors of this dish are truly unmatched. It is highly recommended to try their generous portion for one person, and if desired, additional noodles can be added for a small fee of 200. The yakisoba with sauce and pork is also available but only tastes average. An image attachment showcases the yakisoba served with sauce.
A homey restaurant with good service and which serves generous portions! We enjoyed everything we ordered and would happily come back if in Hiruzen. Menu: Lady boss has an English menu that is meticulously translated, and even includes the ingredients and sauce base for each dish. This made ordering a breeze! Food: TASTY! Ingredients were fresh, and everything tasted like they were cooked with alot of care. We got three dishes to share between the two of us. Hiruzen yakisoba, a local favourite, was a solid miso based dish that had tender chicken chunks. Genghis Khan don, which was lamb with cabbage and carrot stir fry. We were told that lamb is a Hiruzen specialty, and were very glad we tried it. It was tender, well seasoned and not gamey at all! We also ordered a chicken karaage to share, which was beautifully seasoned with salt and pepper. We did not miss mayonnaise one bit. Overall it was a value for money meal, with the above costing only JPY 2100. Restaurant was full of locals on a Monday evening, which no doubt further speaks to the quality of its food.

My favourite of all of Hiruzen's yakisoba restaurants. The sauce used here is a little spicier than most, with an extra spicy version served in the evenings! Also have a variety of meals. They were very kind and changed the meat for extra vegetables (I just asked for no meat) when my vegan sister came to visit. Decor a little outdated, but just adds to the charm!

When I asked the staff what they recommended, they told me that Hiruzen is famous for Genghis Khan locally and that they have recently started raising Jersey cows, so I couldn't help but try Genghis Khan. I ordered the Genghis Khan set meal and Jersey beef ribs, and took the yakisoba to go. The meat in the Genghis Khan set meal was 240g and cut thickly. It was chewy but soft, and I enjoyed it with Hiruzen's unique sauce, mustard and garlic. It was delicious! This is my second 5-star rating this year. I was shocked because I thought Genghis Khan was only found in Hokkaido and Nasu. I recommend this, please try it. Next time I'll bring my family. 120g of Jersey beef ribs. Maybe because I heard it was Jersey, it was milky? It was a gentle, slightly sweet, yet meaty bite, and it was delicious. I was told that the yakisoba I bought as a souvenir contains 240g of soba noodles, which are mostly buckwheat. Hiruzen is also famous for soba noodles. When November arrives, locals change into studless tires to prepare for the freezing weather. There's still a while until November, so I'll come back to eat it again before the year ends.

Both were rich in flavor, and I could tell they came with a rice set. Delicious. I can see why they go well with sake. Because the flavor is strong, a family with children said it was too spicy, so be careful. Great food, reasonable price. I ate all-you-can-eat Jingisukan. It is very mild and easy to eat. We could eat not only mutton ,but also beef, pork, chicken, vegetables and fruits. Some people came alone on a motorcycle.

The good thing about lamb is that it doesn't make you feel heavy no matter how much you eat✨ So when I come here, I only eat lamb meat😆I just enjoy lamb meat lol The sauce is also delicious😋 Paper aprons are available. It does get quite smelly, so if you're concerned about it, you might want to bring a change of clothes or a deodorant! When you park your car in the parking lot, the staff will ask you how many people you have and guide you to your seat. You pay the all-you-can-eat fee first and then go to your seat. Unlimited time. Drinks are ordered separately at the seat. It's nice that they have Asahi non-alcoholic beer on tap for drivers. The smoke can be quite strong, so we recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting smelly or dirty. It's a good idea to bring a towel. You'll be drenched in sweat in the summer. Transportation in Maniwa

Getting around Maniwa can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Yonago Airport

Airport
International airport
Yonago Kitaro Airport is a small but convenient airport located between Matsue and Yonago. It's well-maintained with friendly staff and features charming Kitaro characters throughout the premises, including cute stained glass on the ceiling. The airport offers one domestic flight to Tokyo Haneda and international routes to Hong Kong and Seoul. Access by public transportation is limited, but there are buses and trains to nearby cities.
Small but convenient airport. Just 15min driving from Sakaiminato. Remember to buy the souvenirs before you enter the customs, there were only one gift shop after entered the customs while those gift are not related to Yonago. There is also no restaurants after entered the customs, so please remember to complete everything before enter the customs. The airport is very small that you can go from airline counter to security check in 2 minutes walk, and only 30 sec walks from the customs to the waiting hall for departure.
Alvin L — Google review
There is nothing to eat in the duty-free area after security check. The best place to eat is at the 7-Eleven on the first floor. Security checks are done on time for each flight, so you don't have to wait long.
Platinum G — Google review
The airport is really small, which has pros and cons. Pros: Very straightforward, after check-in they tell you at what time the security checks start and if you are early you can check some of the few souvenir stores and restaurants on the second floor or the 7/11 on the first floor. Cons: Security checks and immigration staff is limited so you might wait a while. Also since the airport is small there is limited transportation options to the center. There is a bus and a train, but when I arrived in had to wait almost 1 hour for the next train and for the return flight I had no choice but to arrive two hours prior to departure as the next bus would have been hours later.

It's a small, well-maintained airport with friendly people. Kitaro characters are everywhere, and even the stained glass on the airport ceiling is cute! The only drawback is that there is a smoking room at the departure gate (even though it has a door), so you have to breathe secondhand smoke while waiting to board. That's why 4 stars.

Hiroshima Airport

Airport
International airport
Visitor Centers
Hiroshima Airport is a convenient hub for domestic and some international flights to Asia. The airport offers various amenities such as the Foo chocolate factory on the third floor, which produces high-quality chocolate and vegan treats. Visitors can also enjoy plane watching from the viewing platform for a small fee. While there is no direct train connection to the city, a regular and comfortable limousine bus service is available. The airport features restaurants, cafes, shops, and airline services across its three levels.
This is my favourite airport in Japan because it's quiet and not crowded. No 8000 mile walk between terminals like Haneda. Just 1 terminal, easy. Couple of eateries, souvenir shops, smoking rooms and an upstairs observation deck. Some old ladies were up there drinking beers?
Peter S — Google review
Small but does the work! We arrived by bus and it wasn’t a hustle. There’s few areas inside the airport to buy food or snacks and the prices were reasonable. Document control was fast;there’s details of what you can bring in apart from the water and there’s babysits to carry kids around. Comfortable airport chairs(could be cleaner) and Fancy toilet doors at least for the females .
Home K — Google review
Its an ok small airport. As many people say, it is very far from Hiroshima city, but there are many bus options that run almost all day, there are no local trains options anywhere close. There is now a rental car option nearby if you want to drive a car. All the restaurant options are on the outside of security so eat before you screen. There are good gift shops and displays to look at here. Have flown in/out of here for many years and its always quick service.
Neil B — Google review
Small airport but user friendly. There is free space for you to have food and wait for the bus. There are several bus routes to Hiroshima and other places. There is a convenient store.
Michael H — Google review
If I revisit the Chugoku region, I would choose KIX or FUK instead. First, the location is remote. No railways to connect. Only buses and they mainly go to JR Hiroshima and Hondori. That means u mean long waiting time or no option for other places. Instructions for public transport are not clear. Second, not many food or shops. Only a few food stores and shops. Better buy some food from convenience store. Last, the ground crew was not professional. My luggage was damaged and the crew directly gave me a sheet of paper. She demanded me to sign without informing me of the T&C. She kept demanding me to sign under the situation which I did not understand or agree to the T&C. And the T&C was actually a disclaimer. I thought she was trying to do fewer jobs and take on more responsibilities. Moreover, the crew did not confirm the luggage with us. She mixed up the name of the luggage with my partner's without any communication. The only thing good is not many routes there. It is a small airport so u can go through customs without a long queue. I would rather buy a JR pass and choose FUK or KIX than choose HIJ.

Linlin C — Google review
The airport is small compared to Tokyo or Kyoto since i think not many tourists explore Hiroshima or even if they do they take the bullet train. Also the airport is very far away from Hiroshima. The airport is clean and has limited options for food and coffee, but what ever they are good. The staff working there are helpful and sweet.

Izumo Airport

Airport
Regional airport
Izumo Enmusubi Airport offers flights to Tokyo, with a travel time of around 80 minutes. Additionally, there is an overnight bus departing daily at 8pm, taking approximately 11 hours. The airport is easy to navigate and provides ample open space for relaxation. Bus stops are conveniently located in front of the airport with canopies for protection from the elements. Visitors can enjoy Japanese-themed decorations at the carousel and walls adorned with impressive displays.
This little airport enjoys great services in terms of access to cities, transportation, and so on. Despite of 2 gates and of course they might have off shore positions but the services are complete, I have also noticed signs of international flights. With some little additional publicity I believe that Izumo airport will put this region in the travel and tourism map. Well done to everyone working at this great place.

International airport
Okayama Momotaro Airport is a typical regional airport in Japan. It offers an airport bus service to JR Kurashiki station, taking about 40 minutes, and from there it's a 10-minute walk to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter through the shopping arcade. The airport features shops selling local specialties like peach pudding and black curry. International passengers can access the Muscat lounge, while all passengers can pay 1100 yen for entry.
"I was there yesterday. There are lots of changes happening .and it amaze me.especially the robot thing.I will be back at Jan 28 for another flight.and to see more updates on its improvement.so far I got good services provided by the airport and it's nice"

A typical Japanese regional airport. The airport has shops that sell local delicacies such as peach pudding and black curry. The airport's lounge for international passengers - the Muscat lounge can be accessed both by business class passengers, and even economy passengers can pay 1100 yen to access the lounge. Due to its small amount of international flights, the TSA check and immigration opens 1.5 hours before the flight departs. Despite its size, it also features an observation deck, which offers a great view of the apron and the runway. Reaching Okayama airport usually involves an airport limousine-bus ride from Okayama city. However, when arriving here from other cities like Kurashiki, a taxi ride is a must as public transportation is pretty much non-existent.

I only flew through this airport one time, and it was more than 3 or 4 years ago, so I can't say my review is comprehensive. But I just do recollect that I like the fact that this fairly small airport was somehow tucked into the middle of some rolling hills, which were carved away to create an airport. The services in the airport were okay but not great while the flights are on time (pretty much as you would expect in Japan anyhow) and I had absolutely no trouble navigating the facility.

Wasn‘t there for a flight but to see the Detective Conan statues and exhibits. Those were really nice to see and a nice addition to the ones at Conan Street. We planned to take a shuttle bus back to Tottori Station but it got delayed due to a delayed plane (probably becausee of the weather). A employee at the information desk was so kind to inform us about that, offered to refund our ticket for the bus and called us taxi, when we asked for it. His englisch was quite good too. So great staff and customer service and a cool experience for Detective Conan Fans.

While our Times car rental closed at 15:00, we could catch a 17:55 airport limousine. On Oct 3, 2024, we returned to the airport again at around noon to pick up our rental car. Apart from shopping, I played the piano and my performance was taped by an appreciative tourist who clapped her hands. On Oct 6, 2024, after returning our rental car, my wife had a special coffee while I played the piano again before flying out of Tottori.

Takamatsu Airport

Airport
Regional airport
Takamatsu Airport offers convenient transportation options, including a limousine bus that takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Kawaramachi Station. From there, travelers can access the Kotoden Line to Hanazono Station. The airport also provides free private parking for guests. Nearby attractions include the ruins of Takamatsu Castle and Kagawas Prefectural Museum, as well as the beautiful Ritsurin Koen garden, just a short train ride away.
Small local restaurant but many things you can enjoy. We enjoyed eating udons from two different restaurants (one on the first floor and the other is on the second floor). Both udon restaurants provide different styles and I liked both of them. Also gift shops have lots of udon items, yadon character items, and local stuff. We found lemon cakes are so tasty and olive soda was interesting but a must try item. The check in counters are located on the first floor and security check lines are on the second floor. There are small duty free shops and vending machines after the security check.
Y B — Google review
It's a small airport but it's super easy to navigate. The Airport Limousine (shuttles for getting into town centre) is just a few steps outside the sliding door, which make it even more convenient. Baggage belt was fast, custom straightforward. There is also a Metro but need to walk further down.
Ken I — Google review
My partner and I often use this airport when we visit family. It’s convenients enough - not too big to navigate and get lost in and not too small either so it accommodates just the right number of shops for souvenirs and restaurants for meals before/after a flight. There are international flights as well, but to a couple of limited countries and cities. There’s a very simple credit card lounge, but unfortunately no lounges operated by Japan’s 2 biggest carriers. The airport is probably most famous for the faucets where you can get dashi (soup stock) for udon. Try it!

a small but has-it-all airport. my only complaint is it’s such an important airport for setouchi art triennial goers but they don’t have the JR tkt station here. so inconvenient that you NEED to go to okayama. you’ll also need to take a bus to reach the train system. it’s only bus or taxi here.
Beergal H — Google review
This airport was as small as expected. It mainly served domestic flights, plus a few international flights. Therefore, the terminal was not so busy all the time. When I arrived there by plane, it took about an hour for the customs clearance. At that time, the number of passengers from the plane was about 180. Two counters were operating, and only one or two officers could speak some English. Airplanes could park by the terminal and connected by a covered footbridge. Luggage was not damaged, which sounded good. There were several eateries and souvenir shops. Toilets were clean. Since udon was made in this province, I chose to eat in one noodle shop on the second floor. The quality was fine. But beware of the business hours because the lunch serving time was finished early. The staff in the souvenir shops were friendly. There were car rental representatives on duty in their respective counter, who led their customers to the shuttle van because all car rental companies were located in the surrounding area. A theme park was built adjacent to the airport.
Joseph C — Google review
*This is a review for the domestic terminal only* Takamatsu is a compact airport. 2 floors and only a few shops. I used the domestic terminal and I wasn’t especially impressed with the organization or facilities available. Compared with other small sized airports in Japan it seems a little dated and poorly maintained. The security checked was very disorganized and it seemed that the staff were a little overwhelmed on a busy Friday afternoon (JAL, ANA and Jet Star all had flights leaving). There were many people standing as there clearly isn’t enough seating for the volume of passengers. Finally, once you are airside there are only 2 small kiosks for food, drink and souvenirs. So make sure the eat, drink and shop before heading through security.
