Easy to get to and from the beach by bus about 1 and hour. Costing ¥800 from the station. Bus number S3 from the station or on route . A pleasant little place but I was expecting to go for a swim but swimming is not aloud. There are walks around and some history plus some souvenir shops and restaurants.

A beautiful beach but please note you cannot swim here! Visited on a hot & sunny day in May. Great to walk around & look at the attractions of the area & plenty food options too. Easily spent half a day here :)

I came here to see the commemorative statue of Sakamoto Ryoma and the museum dedicated to him. The beach is free and so is the statue. The beach itself is amazingly clean and you can see and hear the crashing waves clearly. There is also a short cut through the forest to reach the museum. If you are coming via My-U Bus and prefer walking down slopes than up, then you might want to drop at the museum first, visit it and make your way down.

Took the My-Yu bus bus there. The one day pass costs 1000yen and the beach is the last stop. Lots of visitors . Great to gaze at the Pacific ocean while walking on the beach. After that we went to have a view of Sakamoto Ryoma, rather majestic and authoritative. There are gift shops and snack shops to visit. If you are interested, you can also visit the aquarium.

It's a nice iconic bridge. It's old if you will see the floor bridge but I believe they're taking good care of it coz it won't last like that prettily until today. Easy to visit coz it's in the center of the town. Accessible to everyone. And since I visited during spring, it has pretty flowers everywhere! It's so nice!

Sakamoto Ryoma was an important person in Japan history. There are exhibitions about the story and replicas of letters in the museum. We spent about 1 hour in this spot.

A good compact sized museum that is dedicated to Sakamoto Ryoma a Shogun who played an important role in the Edo period. There are bits and pieces of English descriptions however it’s not really enough to completely immerse yourself in the history. It’ll take around 45mins-1hour to finish the viewing. Sadly the video demonstrations are in Japanese with Japanese subtitles.

Interesting Museum with history of Mr Sakamoto Ryoma - recently renovated with lots of cute cartoons to brighten up the short life of Mr Ryoma. Most exhibits in Japanese with English translation. Museum has a great view of the coast at the roof top - great for selfies. Get the Day Pass for MyBus - 50% discount for overseas visitors 🤣I would recommend it for any visitors to Kochi. U can take a short walk down the beach after the Museum visit. Great place to cool down n relax.

This museum dedicated to Ryoma Sakamoto sits high looking over the Pacific Ocean. It has great interactive areas for all ages to learn about one of the most important people who helped shape modern Japan. A great space to spend time, easily accessible with elevators opening up every space from rooftop to basement. For those interested in learning more there is a library of resources.

We had limited time but made the most of it. A modern display of historical material. Worth a visit.

Sadly, most of the illustrations are in Japanese only. Visitors should have some basic history knowledge before coming to this museum. It’s comics & book corner is lovely though.

The Sakamoto Ryoma's Hometown Museum was informative, and the presentations, while focused on Ryoma's life and experiences, were diverse in content and style. We made heavy use of the free English language audio tour, without which we would not have learned nearly as much.

Lovely little museum with a gift shop with tons of funny Ryoma paraphernalia. There are two floors of exhibits and lots of animated/audio exhibits. Good for all ages but children will probably especially enjoy many of the exhibits. There seems to be an English guide but not much in the museum itself.

Information is contextualized for non-Japanese visitors and it was helpful to learn about Kochi's history.

I would give the building that houses this museum 4 stars due to its beautiful design which incorporates local materials (wood in particular) and motifs throughout - though this could be more clearly explained. The exhibits are mostly artifacts from the Yamanouchi clan who occupied neighboring Kochi Castle from the early 17th century. There are many important historical documents on display, the significance of which is unfortunately lost on the casual visitor. There are some visually appealing artifacts - the samurai helmets based upon animal forms are particularly - on display, but the exhibition is probably best suited to those with a strong interest in Japanese history. I recommend viewing the videos available BEFORE going around the exhibits and to use foreign language the audio guide available (¥1000 deposit). Admission to the 1st and 2nd floors is free - the museum shop has some nice stuff in it, but the 2f cafe is kind of “old school”. The view of the castle from the 3rd floor gallery (admission free required) is nice, but it’s difficult to avoid reflection from the glass windows and is not that much better than the view from the castle steps.

Beautiful, state-of-the-arts museum. You can enjoy Sakamoto Ryoma latte art in the cafe on the second floor while taking in the view of the castle. The museum itself has lots of interesting cultural and military artifacts. There is some English though I wish there were more. Many of the captions are addressed to child audiences though, so if you can read some Japanese you will be able to follow along well enough. The museum also offers some nicely done history videos, many of which have English subtitles. I saw the staff disinfecting surfaces and they take your temperature when you enter so you can enter without worrying too much about the coronavirus.

We visited Fisherman Cuisine Myojinmaru 明神丸 本店 to try the region’s specialty, straw-smoked bonito, and it did not disappoint! The smoky flavour added a unique and delicious twist to the fresh bonito, making it the star of the night. The restaurant is very busy, and we waited around 30 minutes to be called in as we did not have a reservation. Be sure to write your name down on the queue list upon arrival. We tried a few other dishes as well, but the straw-smoked bonito truly stole the show. Overall, a great dining experience with flavourful food. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The signature gyoza (7 pieces) aren’t wrapped particularly well, and while they’re pan-fried, the thin skin and lack of filling make them feel almost like eating air. When I first arrived at 9 PM, the queue was so lengthy that I decided to return the next day before opening time. However, even when I arrived at 6:40 PM, the line was already quite long. Best dumplings we have ever had, and we’ve eaten our fair share of dumps. We had two plate our first night and came back two night late and ordered 4 plates since it’s our last night in Kochi.

I was walking and exploring the streets near my hotel because it’s my last night in Kochi and I heard noises and saw red lanterns and chefs in uniform in a space that looks like an open garage. So happy I found this place. The gyoza was perfectly cooked. The gyoza size was also the perfect bite for me. I also had the chashu ramen but it was nothing special. But I was hungry and craving for something warm with soup, so my tummy was very satisfied. I love the lively atmosphere, the sound was like a big family bustling about the kitchen, with the chefs shouting orders and greeting guests. The clanking of pans and pots and the sound of frying, were a delight. I will definitely have some gyoza when I get assigned to Kochi for work again (hopefully).

Found this local Izakaya while wondering around the area. Menu is all in Japanese but Google Lens is my best friend. Delishious food at reasonable prices and cool atmosphere. We had the tuna kamatoro (must try), tuna bowl set and fried seafood.

20250323 We came here due to recommendation from event booth in local travel exhibition. It was the first time we tried a half cooked sashimi. Quite funny taste. Just the over busy day made it hard to enjoy more.

Mr A was slightly apprehensive but persuaded him to give another local market a go! Atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. Although not on show, when you get to the counter they bring out an English translation of the menu. WS fun watching behind the counter and also the automatic lager dispensers! Recommend you get there early for lunch - we arrived around 11am - one area was really full but we managed to get seats in another. Another tip - if you’re lucky enough to find seat (or if you’re early and it looks like seats won’t be a problem) ensure you put a hat or something on the table place where you plan to sit - thus worked a treat and was what locals were doing. We went for the fried Eels, fried seaweed and of course the legendary Seared Bonito (fish of Mackerel and Tuna family). It was yummy, Mr A even said do too! 😁🙌

We went at dinner time and it was very crowded and took us a while to get a table. Other than that, the seared bonito is delicious and the smokiness paired with salt elevates the taste. Imoten is tasty too.

Incredible katsuo!! They braise the meat right in front of you, which is very fun to watch. The location is fun, at the very center of the busy market. I got the sauce and salt set, which lets you try both flavors. Both the sauce and salt were delicious, but I preferred the salt. After you're done eating, just leave the trays and dishes at the table and the staff will clear them away.

Yeah nah, we had the bonito tataki set. It was entertaining to watch it being prepped and cooked, it was nicely presented, but the best was yet to come - the eating. Fantastic falls short of describing the eating experience.

We came for dinner following google recommendation and found this to be a lovely restaurant filled with locals on a Friday night. The quality of the food was fantastic, ordering with limited knowledge of Japanese was a challenge but the waitress was as helpful as she could be! I highly recommend the tuna sushi roll (best I’ve had on the entire trip) and pick something from the specials menu! We went in blind and ended up with a local delicacy which made the meal something to remember. A little pricier than other places we’ve been to but great if you know what you’re picking as the quality is there.

We went for a farewell party for one of our colleagues and I was impressed by the vibe and the reasonable price of the shop! Looking forward to coming here again!

I love the fact that we get to pick the fish skewer and grill it ourselves. Meal is simple, with or without set. Fresh bonito fish with either wasabi or salt. Simple yet good. The souvenir shop nearby is good as well, you get to sample food before buying them.

We arrived in Kochi by cruise and was recommended to try the Katsuo Tataki, and was not disappointed. It was a fun experience to cook the fish over the open fire, (well directed by the chef there). And the taste was amazing, the searing process really bringing a great dimension to the flavour. They catered well for my kids, which has been a consistent plus in our time in Japan.

Make your bonito seared on fire, with some help by the staff, bonito plate only or with rice and miso soup combo. It was really good! Fresh and soft. Garnish with onions and garlic went well but best taste simply with a pinch of salt.

This was so cool, get to sear your own katsuo here. You get a big block, they tell you what to do. There's a board on the wall that has English and the directions to you are pretty minimal (hold it here, turn it over, etc) and pretty easy to understand by hand movements so you don't have to know Japanese. Then they serve it with garnishes, I opted for garnishes only and it came to under $9 which is an incredible bargain. The only knock on this place is there is no direct bus or train here so you'll have to take a taxi or walk a bit to a bus stop.

Document control was fast;there’s details of what you can bring in apart from the water and there’s babysits to carry kids around. Comfortable airport chairs(could be cleaner) and Fancy toilet doors at least for the females .

Its an ok small airport. As many people say, it is very far from Hiroshima city, but there are many bus options that run almost all day, there are no local trains options anywhere close. There is now a rental car option nearby if you want to drive a car. All the restaurant options are on the outside of security so eat before you screen. There are good gift shops and displays to look at here. Have flown in/out of here for many years and its always quick service.

The airport is clean and has limited options for food and coffee, but what ever they are good. The staff working there are helpful and sweet.

Hiroshima Airport is pretty far from Hiroshima City which will take about 50 - 60 mins by a bus. It would be great if I can get Hiroshima City from the airport less than 30 min.

空港管制官,Air Traffic Control(ATC) tower staff is sooooo nice,so kind,very cheerful,professional and clear to understand. especially for private jet pilots or private helicopter pilots, we often experience difficulty to repeat ATC phrase because of too fast speaking w uncleared voice. unlike other airports' ATC, Kouchi Airport ATC is the best. as for the airport terminal, not so many shops or res though, easy to walk around.

Very efficient airport, I was rushing to catch the airport bus that was scheduled to depart within 10 minutes of arrival. After deplaning, my luggage was already waiting for me at the carousel and I got to catch the bus. Very impressive.

Matsuyama airpor is very nice. Very comfortable and welcoming. 2nd floor has gachapon and the Information center was very helpful. Bus stops right infront of the station, so outside the door is where you can get on the bus right away. Bus to JR station is 490y.

Quite big airport in Shikoku. Observation deck and lounges are located on the third floor. Information is located on the ground floor but the receptionist elderly lady was rude and lack of information regarding the airport.

It’s a very nice airport. Heck, it’s a thousand times better than the airport at where I’m from but most restaurants in terminal 2 (im not sure, but it’s the one with the pouring orange juice onto several cups statue) opens at 9 am. So make sure the eat, drink and shop before heading through security.
