Tsuyama Castle Kakuzan Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Tsuyama Castle Kakuzan Park is a historic site featuring the remains of an ancient castle, set amidst a sprawling urban park adorned with thousands of cherry trees. The park offers breathtaking views of the city and is particularly enchanting during the Tsuyama Sakura Festival. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the expansive castle grounds and capturing stunning festival photos, including a mesmerizing fireworks display.
Visited time 2022.4.9 This is my first time visiting to this castle! It's really nice during Tsuyama sakura festival although its a little bit late to see sakura flowers. The castle's compound is very big and the city view is very nice! I personally shot these festival photos and will put fireworks video for those who missed it! (I cropped the video for final part) One the way to the castle from the station is also good for sightseeing! (Walking for 15mins) For the people who come from Okayama station using Tsuyama line, you need to prepare some cash in advance for train fees because you cannot use IC card to pay.

Soooooo beautiful with Sakura blooming! Just be prepared to have tough walking

Really nice castle garden. The parking was a bit confusing. But lots of cherry trees. There were just starting to bloom when I got there.

Tsuyama Castle

Mentioned on
7 lists
Castle
Historical landmark
Tsuyama Castle, originally known as Soja, is a historic site located in Tsuyama City. Established in 713 as the capital of Mimasaka Province, it gained significance in 1603 when Tokugawa Ieyasu defeated local warlords and united the nation. Tadamasa Mori developed the capital of his domain rapidly after being awarded Mimasaka Province. The castle's stone remains are situated in a hilltop park and are renowned for hosting an annual cherry blossom festival.
An amazing remnant castle, the Donjon is no longer however it is definitely worth a visit and there is enough of the remaining castle grounds to enjoy. Spring is spectacular there!
Michael A — Google review
It is a very nice place to visit to learn about the local history and for some great views over the city. There are some unique limited time art exhibits located onsite as well as around the city to explore.
Katherine A — Google review
Not really sure it’s worth the visit. Big grounds but most of the main castle have been destroyed
Paul Y — Google review
Small castle on top of a hill. Highest castle in Japan. We drove and had to park at the bottom of the hill. There is a shuttle bus from the car park which will take you most of the way up for 500 yen return (closed December). Note there is still a bit of a walk with a lot of stairs.
Warren R — Google review
It is the largest castle in Japan, and it is overwhelming scale. The view from the top is wonderful, the time of cherry blossoms and the time of autumn leaves are the best. Stone wall is lighted up in the amazing colors at night.
Mercedesbenz124e280 — Google review
(castles visited 50+) The coolest thing about this castle is you can see it from much of the city and visa versa. Plenty of cities have castles buy this one, you can really see the castle mountain and the castle from most of the city. The castle park was really nice. At the time of this review, it seems they are still resorting various parts. If you look at my photos you can see the hotel from the castle and see the castle the hotel.
R D — Google review
If there were still castle tower, it would be more amazing castle but that was decomposed because of historical background. Even so, this fort looks amazing and also looks like maze ;) I guess some cosplayer will love here;P I forgot to take photo... I haven’t seen Sakura here that I decided to estimate 4 stars . The castle is surrounded by tons of Sakura trees that I’m sure here will become super beautiful place in Spring. I look forward to visiting here again .

Walls well preserved, however not much left of the buildings. Nice 180 degree view from top.

(Translated by Google) I visited in October 2024. This garden, centered around a pond, was apparently once the villa of the feudal lord of Tsuyama. It's well-maintained, but admission is free, and I saw many local residents strolling around. There were lotus flowers growing in the large pond, which I imagine would be incredibly beautiful during the flowering season. I wondered where the pond's water came from, and after searching for the source, I discovered that water was drawn in from an external waterway on the north side, flowing around a small stream within the garden before flowing into the large pond and then being discharged out the south side. I was impressed by how well-thought-out the garden was. The trees in the back were also impressive and well-maintained, and I personally found them more impressive than the pond. The entrance is adjacent to a school field, and on the day I visited, I could hear the voices of students practicing baseball. Rather than being a special place, it feels more like a relaxing spot in everyday life. It's only about a five-minute drive from Tsuyama Castle, so it's a good idea to visit both. The facility's parking lot is large enough to accommodate a few cars, but you can also use the city hall parking lot across the street from the entrance for free.

Tsuyama Manabi Railway Museum

Mentioned on
2 lists
Rail museum
The Tsuyama Manabi Railway Museum is a charming rail history museum housed in a 1936 train depot, showcasing vintage locomotives and scale models. It offers a unique experience for train enthusiasts, with live trains coming in and out of the main railway station providing an exciting backdrop. Visitors can enjoy a miniature show depicting the daily life of a train, particularly captivating for kids. The museum also features an audio tour in English and boasts a model railroad and gift shop.
This is a fantastic museum, although it's small but there are enough trains to spend some good time there. Actually it also has a great view of the main railway station with live trains coming in and out of the station. There is also a miniature show at designated timings (last is at 3pm) of the daily life of a train, which is fascinating especially for kids. The tickets is a unique gift in itself!
Rtexal T — Google review
They feature only internal combustion rail-cars. So you can enjoy very rare experience. And you must know you take 15 minutes to go to this museum from Tsuyama station.
Google review
Small scale railroad museum with a big shed and turntable. Enjoyed my time here! Fun and educative for kids! Just a small walk from Tsuyama station.
Karsten S — Google review
Such a fun museum for out of service locomotives! There's even an audio tour in English which really increased my enjoyment of the museum. The model railroad and gift shop were great, too. Oh, and the price of admission is only 310円! Highly recommend if you're in the surrounding area and love trains.
Josh P — Google review
A small museum of train. Can spend for half or an hour. Good to go with kids who love train. The ticket is very lovely and interesting, unfortunately I lost it afterwards.......
Wai F — Google review
It is alright, you can't really explore looking at the trains up close and touch. On the bright side you have a good view of the trains leaving the station and organizing in the train yard. There is some history and a small train model set.
Rasseru S — Google review
A good place for the kid and railway fans.

Okayama Farmers Market North Village

Park
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Okayama, the Okayama Farmers Market North Village is a delightful destination for families and nature lovers alike. This charming farm park features a petting zoo where visitors can interact with friendly animals like goats and rabbits, making it an exciting experience for children. The market also offers scenic walking trails perfect for leisurely strolls amidst nature.
(Translated by Google) There are no entrance fees or parking fees, and there are plenty of facilities such as athletics, slides, and a lawn area! Cost performance is high✨ If it was nearby, I would go there as if I were going to the park😁 Even though it's Golden Week, it's not very crowded, so it might be a little-known spot! The restaurant's portions are small and a bit expensive💦It's such a nice place that you don't have to spend money elsewhere, so you don't have to spend money on running it! I was impressed to see a casual ancient tomb!

Petr S — Google review
We went on a weekday on second week of June and the place was quite dead. Disappointed as we drove almost 2 hrs to come here. There was nothing the kids could do except goat feeding and expensive pony ride - JPY 2200 for a 10min ride.

(Translated by Google) It feels like it's full of nature, and although there are quite a few slopes, the roads are well maintained and easy to push a stroller. Unlike South Village, it's great that there are animals and accommodations. You can interact with animals like horses, goats, and rabbits, and there are also special play equipment (carts and a transparent raft that rotates in a pond), experiences you can't get at South Village. The souvenirs and vegetables are limited, and unlike South Village, there are no udon shops, bakeries, or souvenir shops. I didn't use the hotel.

(Translated by Google) I visited solely to collect manhole cards. Perhaps because it was near evening, the shop was half-closed and looked uninterested, so I didn't go in. The sign at the front of the parking lot, number 1 (closest to the facility), looked like it was for buses only, but passenger cars were of course welcome as well. I wish they would avoid writing in such confusing ways. There are other parking lots scattered around, so I don't think it's often full.

Tsuyama Natural Science History Museum

Mentioned on
1 list
Museum of zoology
Museums
Nestled adjacent to the historic Tsuyama Castle in Tsuruyama Park, the Tsuyama Natural Science History Museum is a treasure trove for nature enthusiasts and curious minds alike. With an impressive collection of around 20,000 items on display, visitors can marvel at everything from stuffed animals and fossils to minerals and insects. The museum also features exhibits showcasing endangered species, providing a unique opportunity to appreciate biodiversity up close.
You can see many stuffed animals here. Other exhibits include many specimens of fossils, ores, shells, butterflies, and insects. In addition, there are actual human body organs, and surprisingly, the brain of the former director is on display. Some may feel a little scary because it looks very realistic, but it is a place that both adults and children can enjoy. It is located near to Tsuyama Station, which is a good point, too.
Chi M — Google review
It's a bit strange. It is a place which has 20 thousand natural specimens. Many labels are handwritten. The founder clearly put a lot of love into their work. Maybe that person died and now others dont care for the building? They have so much, and many endangered species from before the laws were changed. The building itself is an old church and kinda falling apart. It smelled of moth balls. It's a very eerie contrast with the meticulous specimens. And they have a lot of them. They have a polar bear, lions, tigers. Even a baby lion. Very surreal experience.
Samus G — Google review
This is an outstanding museum pertaining to creatures including mammals, shells, insects, and humans. It's certainly one of the best museums in Japan regarding the nature. It is sad that not a lot of people know this place. For the sake of the founder, Mr Mori Keizo, it is important for us to appreciatively preserve this museum for the generations to come.
Shingo H — Google review
The exhibits at the museum are amazing and miracle. We never prepare such kind of exhibits under current law. You should visit this museum in your life. Maybe, this could be the wonderful experience for your life.

(Translated by Google) I visited the museum for the first time during the night session, which started at 6:00 PM. 🔦 In pitch darkness, I wandered through exhibition rooms 1-15 using only my cell phone light. At first, I entered with an adventurous spirit, but I was overwhelmed by the beauty and power of nature, with so many exhibits, including stuffed animals, the first director's organs (photography prohibited), skeletal specimens, shells, and fossils. At the end, I was able to see only the silhouette of a stuffed elephant seal in the dark, but when they shone a light on it, even though I was an adult, I freaked out. lol I think it's even more enjoyable than visiting during the day.

(Translated by Google) What a wonderful collection! I was overwhelmed. I'm so happy to be able to see such a wide range of exhibits in Tsuyama without having to travel all the way to the faraway museum in Ueno. I was surprised by the generous display of polar foxes and polar bears outside the museum, but upon entering, my anticipation grew even stronger to be greeted by Joseph? Patrasche? Of course, there are many rare exhibits, but there are just so many. There are so many highlights that it's hard to say which one is the signature exhibit. Even the museum's first director is on display (!). The nostalgic exhibition hall, housed in a former high school, is tastefully decorated with handwritten guides and explanatory boards, and the floorboards creak when you walk on them. Even today, the outside temperature in August was nearly 40°C, but the inside of the hall was chilly. The rooms, each with their own exhibit, are connected like a maze, and the strange little details are part of its charm. The chirping of cicadas can be heard in every room, and I thought it was just tasteful background music for summer vacation, but I was wrong! It was coming from between the gaps in the walls. It was a live performance... Times have changed, and it is no longer possible to obtain all these exhibits or to enjoy this romantic wooden architecture. I hope that it will continue to exist for a long time to come.

The Tsuyama Archives of Western Learning is housed in a striking red brick building that was once a bank. During the Edo era, Tsuyama was a hub for scholars interested in Western Learning, particularly Dutch medical science. The museum showcases books and artifacts related to this field, including valuable documents like 'Kaitai Shinsho' and 'Vaccination License.'
you can learn mamy stories about Japanese old study against foreign study after opening international trade. Japanese national isolation has last for 200+years during Edo era. It was time when other international country has great development . This museum was built to commemorate great schlors who work for local lord of Tsuyama. Their hard work made bace of Japanese medical development!

I entered the field thinking it wasn't a field I was particularly interested in, but the content was quite difficult. Among them, the medical content left an impression on me, but I could hardly understand it. The building was beautiful and had a very quaint atmosphere, including the garden. I also think that the admission fee of 300 yen is not expensive. Photography was prohibited at the exhibition. The Former residence of Mitsukuri Genpo, an important historical site, holds significant value. This landmark served as the home of Mitsukuri Genpo in the past. It is a place that carries immense historical significance and has great cultural importance. The residence has witnessed numerous events and played a crucial role in shaping history. As a notable relic from the past, this building stands as a testament to the rich heritage and legacy of Mitsukuri Genpo's time period.
(Translated by Google) There tends to be a bronze statue in front of the station in town, but who is it? Most people don't pay any attention to it, but the person sitting in front of Tsuyama Station is actually Genpo Mitsukuri. The greatness of this person can be traced back to the roots of the University of Tokyo, Japan's highest academic institution, or if we trace the history of Japan's modern academic institutions as an institution, would we be able to trace the greatness of this person to Ruanho Mitsukuri? Also, if you compare it to horse racing, he is like the Sunday Silence of Japanese academia. The Mino artists, whose ancestor was Ruan Fu, were a family of scholars. I can't help but laugh at the enormity of the author's family tree enumerated by a GI horse-level scholar. Truly the stallion of Japanese academia. I heard that there is a Mitsukuri Natsu T-shirt created by the local town development council to increase its name recognition, and I think I'd really like that. If you carefully follow the exhibits at the Western Studies Museum next door, you'll understand the history behind the fact that, like Keio's Yukichi Fukuzawa and Waseda's Shigenobu Okuma, Tokyo University's Rufu Mitsukuri is not common knowledge! I can understand the feelings of the people in Tsuyama who are upset. I would also recommend visiting the Tsuyama Western Studies Museum next door. (Translated by Google) I went to see Mitsukuri Genpo's former residence. The former residence of Natsuho Mitsukuri is located in a townhouse built in the old days of Joto, and the building has a typical townhouse structure. The site is 90 tsubo, and although it is small in scale, it is a magnificent structure. I didn't know who ``Ranpo Mitsukuri'' was, so I looked it up and found the following. Mitsukuri Nyoho was a doctor and Western scholar for the Tsuyama domain. He was ordered to translate the personal letter of the American president when Perry arrived in 1853, and when Russia's Putyatin arrived at the same time, he was sent to Nagasaki as a member of the negotiation team. It is said that he was a scholar who displayed great talent during Japan's opening to the world, including being dispatched to Japan. After the opening of the country, the Shogunate recognized the need for a full-fledged Western studies research and educational institution, and established the Bansho Research Institute in 1856, appointing Ruan Fu as its chief professor, and the Bansho Research Institute later became the University of Tokyo. It seems that it has developed. He is said to be ``Japan's first university professor.'' Mitsukuri Natsuho's former residence is the house where Natsuho Mitsukuri spent his childhood from birth until he was 13 years old. Nguyen Fu was born in 1799 as the son of Sadatatsu, a domain doctor. Having lost his father and older brother at an early age, he was forced to take over the family and devoted himself to studies from an early age. In 1822, he was appointed as a domain doctor and began commuting between Tsuyama and Edo, but around this time he studied Dutch studies under Genshin Udagawa and began his career as a Dutch scholar. After moving to Edo with his family in 1831, he held positions such as professor at the Bansho Research Institute, and was appointed as a retainer of the shogunate and was the author of many books on medicine, military tactics, Western geography, history, etc., including ``Japanese and Dutch Literature.'' He wrote and translated books and contributed to the development of Dutch studies at the end of the Edo period.

Nestled in the heart of Tsuyama, "Hashino Shokudō" is a charming cafeteria-style eatery that specializes in delectable udon noodle dishes, rice bowls, and teppanyaki. Despite its unassuming exterior and interior, this restaurant has gained a reputation for serving hearty meals at an affordable price—most dishes are under 1000 yen.

This restaurant has been in business for over 130 years. They serve their famous horumon udon. They offer one or two bowls of udon, and three levels of spiciness: normal, mild, and extra spicy. The fried udon noodles are made with fresh horumon (hormone) such as chicken hearts and stewed prawns, and vegetables such as bean sprouts and chives, seasoned with a homemade miso sauce containing chili peppers. It pairs perfectly with beer. It was delicious. One of the most popular, well-known eateries in Tsuyama, I am told. Hashino Shokudō doesn’t look like much from the outside, or the inside for that matter, but if you’re on the lookout for a delicious, wholesome feed for under ¥1000 then this is your destination. Hashino Shokudō’s signature dish is ホルモンうどん (horumon udon), or udon containing the entrails (offal) of cow or pig (cow in this case). 1玉 gets you a significant portion, 2玉 gets you a big portion, both under ¥1000. The cow entrails here are absolutely delicious. A big portion comes with about seven or eight large, thick and fatty cuts of entrails which melt in your mouth. As can be expected the noodles are perfect and compliment the entrails well. The menu is straight forward and easy to read; friendly to foreigners with only hiragana and simple kanji. I highly recommend Hashino Shokudō for a cheap yet delicious meal.

I didn't realize it until I got there, but I realized it was a place for B-grade gourmet hormone udon, so I decided to check out a restaurant that seemed famous. I arrived around 11am on a Saturday, and by chance I was able to get a seat right away. If the timing had been unlucky, I might have had to wait outside. The restaurant has a very Showa-era feel, with about six tables and a tatami room. The hormone udon was surprisingly light and easy to eat, and I finished two bowls in no time. The noodles aren't very chewy. It was delicious, but not particularly cheap. But I was glad I got to try authentic hormone udon. The parking lot is located in part of a pachinko parlor about 100 meters east of the restaurant. But I didn't know about it until I was brought here, and it's my mission to write a food review without being misled by such things (not that there's any way). First of all, the taste. Hmm, it's a bit vague. Three of us went in and ordered the aforementioned horumon udon in spicy, super spicy, and normal horumon soba (fried noodles). I had soba, but the unique sauce tasted different to me as an Osaka native. The noodles were cut short, so I couldn't slurp them down and they were somehow bland. But the horumon itself, which is the restaurant's specialty, was soft, so maybe it went well with the sauce. The horumon wasn't bad. Anyway, we went in at 10am, and there were a lot of people there who were clearly older than us in our 50s. It's a rare sight. I guess it's loved by locals and connoisseurs. The staff were also efficient 🤩🤩🤩 I had a great time. I'd like to come here again next time for a leisurely drink 😊😊😊. Izakaya restaurant
Tōhō is a delightful dining spot located conveniently near Tsuyama Station, making it an ideal choice for those looking to indulge in the local specialty of hormone udon. This dish is a true representation of Tsuyama's culinary scene, featuring various parts of beef innards that are stir-fried with a robust soy sauce-based seasoning. The experience begins with refreshing draft beer served in chilled aluminum glasses and includes tasty appetizers like sesame tofu.

It was getting dark, and another restaurant I visited from the direction of Tsuyama Castle with the "Hormonal Udon Eating MAP" pamphlet in hand didn't serve Hormone Udon, so I visited this restaurant. The owner and his wife are friendly and welcoming, there is a reasonable number of customers, and the customer base is not very local, so it's a nice environment where you can enjoy the hormone udon one-on-one without feeling like you're away! ☺️(This is just my personal opinion) The hormones from various parts of the udon came together on top of the udon noodles, and I enjoyed the texture of each bite with each bite. This horumon udon is my favorite in Tsuyama. I also recommend the Zozuri-yaki😆If I didn't have udon, I would definitely have ordered the rice set! One thing is that when you enter the store, you store your baggage in the shelf on the left side and then take a seat at the seat you are guided to.However, this is because the closer you are to the back of the store, the more your baggage is out of sight. Maybe some people are anxious? I thought. The prices had gone up even more than when I researched beforehand! Still, I ordered the special tonkotsu, which I wanted to try, and the bowl arrived about five minutes later. My first impression was "It's so small..." The bowl was normal, but the water level was low and the boiled egg was small... I thought, "Is this all for 1,250 yen..." but when I started eating, the soup was deep but not heavy, and I was able to drink it all up, and it was delicious! The noodles were a little soft, but still not enough... even a girl would find it unsatisfying. All the other customers ordered extra noodles. The toppings such as boiled eggs and seared meat were delicious without any problems. The takana on the table was also excellent! It's great for changing the flavor, but it's spicy, so be careful not to put too much on. The pepper was also spicier and more delicious than regular table pepper. It was impressive that the chef and his wife (?) were so cool, the complete opposite of Tonpei, another famous restaurant in Tsuyama. The taste was impeccable, but the value for money was a bit... (Translated by Google) This is my first visit in eight years, so this is my first Google review. When I came eight years ago, the offal in the Tsuyama Hormone Udon was so mildly flavorful! I even asked the owner how it was prepared, and the wide variety of offal and the generous portions were so good that I was so impressed that I wanted to come back once a month if it was that delicious. Eight years have passed since then, and I visited on the Sunday in the middle of a three-day weekend. First of all, the parking lot is spacious! All the parked cars have out-of-prefecture license plates! They're incredibly popular with customers from Hiroshima, Himeji, Gunma, Ehime, Mie, Kobe... They're incredibly popular with customers from far away, but I'm sure they're all first-time visitors. I arrived at 12 o'clock and waited just over an hour. An ambulance arrived just before we entered, and they announced that one of the chefs had been taken away, so it would take a while for customers to enter. With the heat of the days and the heat of the teppanyaki, I was worried about heatstroke. We entered the restaurant shortly after and ordered one large horumon udon (3 bowls) for two people, one Tsuyama specialty sozuri, and one non-alcoholic beer. There were many orders for horumon udon, so the owner cooked the large, regular, and small portions together and served them separately on plates. This left an unbalanced amount of horumon, so I would have preferred if they cooked them separately. Also, although this was probably unavoidable due to a sudden staff shortage, there was a rather burnt taste that lingered in my mouth, which was a far cry from the excellent impression I had eight years ago. Balancing this with the previous time, I gave it four stars. I look forward to seeing them again next time. Let's go for ramen for the first time in a while ✨️ It's spacious with counter seats for one person and table seats for groups. Order tonkotsu soy sauce burai ramen and 5 gyoza using the touch panel. The bariuma ramen with pork bone soy sauce has a rich soup but is light and not heavy, making it very easy to eat. The chashu was also soft. The gyoza with crispy wings was piping hot and delicious. On the way home, I took out 6 pieces of fried chicken and went home. I tasted one freshly fried chicken, and it had a good seasoning and the meat was soft and delicious. Thank you for the meal. I stopped by the Tsuyama Yamakita branch of Bariuma (the character for horse with a mouth character) when I was working, and I remembered that I had never been there before. It was lunchtime, but there were a lot of student customers. I wonder if there is a high school nearby. Looking at the menu, the basic "Bariuma Ramen" is made by combining chicken bones and pork bones, and they also have miso-based ramen, tsukemen, and tanmen, which is a limited-time menu item? This time I had the basic Bariuma Ramen. There were hardly any condiments on the counter, but there were some pickles on the table near the entrance that could be used as condiments. Pickled cucumbers, pickled Chinese cabbage, and something a bit different, pickled garlic sprouts in kimchi (probably the most popular). So. I tried the soup that was served to me, but the soup, which is made by combining chicken bones and pork bones, somehow didn't have a crispy taste. They added some kimchi-marinated garlic sprouts as a condiment, and I guess that's about what you'd expect... The noodles were thin and straight, and there was nothing particularly worth mentioning about them, but it felt like the soup was a letdown. It's a shame. If you're looking to eat this kind of ramen in Tsuyama city, I think you'd be much happier at Zundoya, near the Edion Tsuyama store. There were a fair number of customers there while I was eating, so I can't rule out the possibility that the quality of the soup when I visited... After ordering, you can enjoy a pickle buffet in the pickle section, but due to COVID-19, there were no tongs, so I hesitated about whether to use one chopstick or six for about six types of pickles. This time, I think I ordered the "Barikata" seasoned egg. The restaurant was busy, so I calmly ordered without looking at the menu... (;´∀`) I think it was 879 yen plus the 110 yen seasoned egg? I'm not sure. I ordered medium-thin straight noodles, "Barikata," which had a firm core. I don't think the noodles were slimy around the edges. The broth was pork bone-based, and the "Barikata" version was described as a rich back fat type, and the thick soup had a strong garlic flavor. (On the way home, I was surprised by my own garlic smell while wearing a mask, lol.) The char siu was cut thick and was quite filling. I forgot to take a picture of the seasoned egg after it was cracked open. On the counter, I think there was garlic, chili pepper, pepper, gyoza sauce, and chili oil. I would have liked sesame and pickled ginger (personally). My companion ordered bari shio and gyoza. He didn't taste it, but he ate it all. When are gyoza supposed to be served? I somehow imagined them before the ramen, or at the same time? But after the ramen, I can't help but wonder, "Maybe they've forgotten?" I couldn't help but ask the waiter, and they said, "We're cooking them now, so it will take a little longer," but wouldn't it have been better if they'd said, "It may take some time" when ordering, or, when serving the ramen, "The gyoza will be ready a little later"? Is it just me? But my stomach was full, so that's good. (Translated by Google) Title: [My soul trembled! ] Get excited about the overwhelming power of Z Gundam and the exquisite gourmet food at the roadside station! 🤩✨ Main text: I finally set foot in the place I've been dreaming of for a long time, ``Roadside Station Kume no Sato''! 💖 The target, of course, is the legendary mobile suit “Z Gundam”! Now you can see with your own eyes the aircraft you've admired since childhood! I can't believe how much I've been waiting for this day...! This is a place I had vowed to visit when I came to Okayama. The accessibility is great as it is only 5 minutes by car from Innosho IC. I headed to the parking lot with high expectations and suppressing my feelings of disappointment. As I had checked beforehand, I went to the left and...I saw it! The moment a huge white silhouette caught my eye, I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow! It's real!" Truly, that Z Gundam is firmly standing on the ground of Okayama! I ran over and looked up at the Z Gundam... it was so huge that it was far beyond my imagination, and it was so powerful that it took my breath away! 🤖 The sight of it standing pierced against the blue sky gave off an overwhelming aura of ``realness'' that was completely different from what I had seen in photos and videos. Even more than its 7m height, you will be completely overwhelmed by its presence. The details are made with amazing precision, the texture feels as if it has been exposed to the wind and rain, and above all, it has an intimidating scale that makes your neck hurt when you look up at it...! I was so moved that I got goosebumps all over my body, and the fact that the hero I admired on the other side of the screen when I was a child was actually right in front of my eyes filled my heart with so much emotion that my tears uncontrollably melted a little😭. This is no longer just a statue. It's full of soul! Photos can never fully convey the excitement, so please come and see for yourself how great it is! With the shock and excitement I had received from Z Gundam in my heart, I stepped into the adjacent specialty product sales facility and found it to be another wonderful space! Inside the spacious and lively store, fresh vegetables and fruits from the local Okayama and Mimasaka regions, as well as carefully selected processed products, are lined up glitteringly like jewels, and I can't help but get excited just looking at them👀. It's like a food theme park where you keep making discoveries like, "This looks delicious!" or "There's something so rare!" I can't help but lose track of time while looking at it. Among these attractive products, the one that particularly caught my eye was the ``boar meat'' that was packed in a frozen case and clearly arranged by cut! 😲 I never dreamed that I would be able to find such authentic and diverse boar meat at a roadside station! 🐗 Slices for hotpot, shabu-shabu, yakiniku, even chunky chunks of meat and minced meat... Just looking at the fresh, beautiful color and shine, I'm convinced that this is absolutely delicious 😋. The price is 2,500 yen for 450g of minced meat, which may be a bit extravagant for everyday use, but considering the quality and rarity, I felt it was reasonable, or rather, worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't have any preparations to take it home so I gave up on it, but next time I definitely vowed to bring a cooler and get some chunks of meat for the BBQ! I'm saving the boar meat for next time, but this time I bought some local sweets and some seasonings that I was interested in🛍️. Now you can look forward to seeing what it tastes like once you get home! My soul was moved by the long-awaited Z Gundam, and I was thrilled by the unexpected encounter with exquisite gourmet food (especially wild boar meat!)... It was truly an extremely fulfilling and unforgettable day. This is definitely a sacred place for Gundam fans to visit, but it's also a great spot that we can heartily recommend to everyone, including gourmets with an eye for delicious food, people who like driving, and people who want to discover the charm of the region! Next time I will definitely buy some boar meat! And someday I want to ride that Z Gundam...! (It's just a dream come true lol) 🤖 It has become a special roadside station for me that I definitely want to visit again to get more power! 🌳 Thank you so much for the great memories! (Translated by Google) Speaking of Tsuyama, Yakiniku Chie!! ️So this is my third visit. My family runs a yakiniku restaurant, so I'm very picky about meat, but I can't go wrong with any of Chie's meat. I am especially shocked every time by the freshness and firm texture of the senmai offal and the delicious taste of the meat juice. Moreover, what's so good about Chie is that if you eat this delicious meat with the best sauce, you'll be a big winner...👑!! ️!! ️!! ️ You can add as much green onion and garlic to the sauce as you like, but adding green onion and garlic adds even more flavor and makes it the best. I love how the onions are crunchy and gooey with the meat. The shop owner is old-fashioned in a good way, and I hope he lives a long life. There are also many regulars. Reservations are required. This is my favorite shop 😋♥️♥️♥️ (Original)

(Translated by Google) Yakiniku Chie (Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture/Nearest station: Tsuyama) Tsuyama City is a historic castle town that has prospered since ancient times, and as it was never damaged by war, the old townscape, including mansions passed down from the Edo period, remains. Yakiniku Chie is located in a corner of Tsuyama Castle Town. A restaurant that has been loved by locals for many years as one of Tsuyama's most famous Yakiniku restaurants. About 10 minutes walk from JR Tsuyama Station. This is an affiliated store of Marsa Foods, a long-established store that has been in business for over 60 years and processes and delivers meat within the Tsuyama City Meat Processing Center. Fresh offal from Kuroge Wagyu beef is purchased from the Meat Center every day, and you can also enjoy rare parts that are hard to find elsewhere. Instead of grilling the meat yourself, the staff grills it for you on a griddle. At the counter seats surrounding the iron plate on the first floor, you can enjoy grilled meat directly from the iron plate with chopsticks. If you order yakiniku at a table or a tatami room on the second floor, the meat will be grilled on an iron plate and delivered to your table in a dustpan. It is a popular store that many celebrities visit, and the entrance is lined with autographs and photos of famous people. There are also many photos of B'z vocalist Hiroshi Inaba, who is from Tsuyama. There are counter seats and table seats on the first floor, and private rooms and a tatami room on the second floor, for a total of about 50 seats. Payment is only in cash; credit cards and QR code payments are not accepted. Tsuyama has a long history of meat-eating culture, and since ancient times it has prospered as a transportation hub connecting Izumo and Yamato (Kinai), and since the exchange of people, goods, and culture has flourished, it has also been a distribution center for cattle and horses, dating back to the Asuka period. There is a record that a cattle and horse market was held in Tsuyama in 705. Even in the Edo period, when eating meat was prohibited, only the Omi-Hikone domain (Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture) and the Tsuyama domain were allowed to eat meat by the shogunate as ``yojo-kui'' (eating meat as medicine for nourishment and tonicity). was. Due to this historical background, the culture of eating beef is deeply rooted among the common people, and there is ``dried meat,'' which is made by drying chunks of beef for several days to condense the flavor, and meat where the meat around the rib bones is removed. A unique meat-eating culture has been passed down, such as ``Sozuri Nabe'', which uses boiled beef tendon, ``Nikogori'', which is made by boiling beef tendon meat over low heat and then cooling the soup to solidify it, and ``Yomenakase'', which is made by cutting the aorta of a cow into short pieces. are. Because Tsuyama City has a ``slaughterhouse'' (slaughterhouse), fresh and cheap offal is easily available, and offal dishes have been eaten on a daily basis among the common people. Many restaurants in Tsuyama City serve teppanyaki, and it is standard to grill teppanyaki together with offal and vegetables and serve it as a side dish with rice or as a snack with alcohol. It is said that Tsuyama's specialty, ``hormone udon,'' was born from this climate. ●Tsuyama local beer 720 yen It's a hot and humid night at the peak of summer, so I first quench my thirst with a beer. Tago Honke Sake Brewery, a long-established sake brewery with a history of over 300 years that was founded in the Kanbun era of the Edo period in Tsuyama City, began producing and selling Sakushu Tsuyama Beer in 1996. A Kölsch-type craft beer with a gorgeous aroma and sharp taste. It received the gold medal, the highest rating, at the 2007 World Beer Championship, an international beer competition. ●Yakiniku ・Shimacho (large intestine) 950 yen ・Kamimino (one stomach) 1200 yen ・Senmai (stomach) 950 yen ・Sozuri 900 yen ・Onion 230 yen For the time being, we chose ``Shimacho'', ``Kamimino'', ``Senmai'', and ``Sozuri'' as our first yakiniku. It's the perfect situation to drink a cold beer while watching the delicious-looking offal being grilled on the iron plate in front of you with the masterful skill of the staff. The meat is seasoned, so it's delicious as is. Sauce, green onions, and grated garlic are also included on the table, so please choose as you like. Every part of the hormone is fresh, shiny, and has no odor at all. ``Sozuri'' means ``to shave'' in the Tsuyama dialect, and in Tsuyama, the meat that is made by shaving off the meat around the bones and sinews of the cow is called ``Sozuri Meat.'' The meat around the bones is elastic, and the more you chew, the more flavor the meat oozes out. When you order yakiniku, the staff will ask you if you would like to add onions. Onions are 230 yen per person. Onions, which have been cooked on a hot iron plate to absorb the fat and flavor of offal, are also a great snack, so if you don't like them, I highly recommend them. ●Bottle chew (lemon) 540 yen A bottled chu-hi called ``Botchu Chu'' is called Tsuyama's ``Soul Liquor.'' The rounded bottle design is distinctive. Compared to regular canned chu-hi, the bottle is used to create strong carbonation, and the sour taste of lemon is mild. It is an alcoholic beverage sold by Godo Shusei Co., Ltd., a member of the Oenon Group. The predecessor was "Warikka High Boy" released in 1984, then the name was changed to "High Boy" and the current "Bottle Chu". It continues to be loved throughout the world. Okayama prefecture boasts the highest sales of ``bottle chews'' nationwide, accounting for more than twice as much as Tokyo. It has been adopted by many restaurants in Tsuyama City in particular, and the standard style is that a bottled chew is served with a glass of ice. In Tsuyama, grilled beef and offal are often eaten, so the strong carbonation of bottled chews goes well with the refreshing taste, which is neither too dry nor too sour. It seems that the ability to serve chu-hi in a bottle, which requires less effort on the part of the restaurant, also suits the needs of restaurants. ●Yakiniku ・Hormone (small intestine) 900 yen ・Lever 950 yen ・Grilled tail 1000 yen ・Lean meat 1200 yen ・Tsurami (cheek meat) 950 yen ・Onion 230 yen For the second selection, choose ``hormone,'' ``liver,'' ``grilled tail,'' ``red meat,'' and ``surami.'' With onions. The juicy, fatty offal has more fat than zebra butterfly, and is sweet enough to melt in your mouth. You can choose whether you want the liver to be cooked rare or well-cooked, so go for rare. Plenty of milk-like sweetness. Grilled tail is a bone-sliced part of a cow's tail that is carefully grilled on both sides, seasoned with salt and pepper, and served on a plate, so you can hold it in your hands and take a bite. It has a hard texture with some gritty streaks, but the more you chew it, the more flavor comes out. The "red meat" is not the hormone but the real meat, and is marbled meat typical of Kurobe Wagyu beef. Is it rump or thigh meat? Soft and juicy. "Tsurami" is meat from the cheek part of a cow's face. The meat is tough because it is a part of the muscles that move a lot, and although it is sliced into thin slices, it has a firm bite. It is rich in gelatin, and the more you chew, the richer and richer the flavor spreads in your mouth.

(Translated by Google) I also went on a whimsical trip to Okayama Prefecture. Moreover, I visited Tsuyama, a castle town in the mountains that many Tokyoites would never visit unless they have a connection. Tsuyama Station on the Tsuyama Line has a white wall motif reminiscent of a castle town. It had been beautifully renovated, but it still had an orange color that looked like iron oxide, still reminiscent of the Showa era. It's nice to see the gap between it and the diesel car, which is operated by one person. Tsuyama's bar district is not in front of the station, but across a river called Yoshiigawa. It's located near the back of an arcade modeled after the deserted white walls in front of the Tsuyama Castle ruins. However, I'm fine with Jimoty, but I like how lonely he is. Traces of dreams... The huge Tenmaya gives the impression of a dream. Tsuyama is so emotional... Tsuyama seems to be a special area where there has been a culture of eating beef since before the Meiji period. I hear that high-quality hormones and meat are still available. That's why I decided to go to ``Hormone Meat'' for dinner, and it's said to be the most popular restaurant. I had already made a phone reservation with the rumored ``Chie''. The exterior looks like a locally owned store. Judging from the appearance, it is obvious to tourists. I thought it was for salt, but it seemed like a frank answer to my mother? To the person who seems to be I was welcomed to the counter seats surrounding the iron plate. As of 6pm, there were only two counter seats left (but those were already reserved), and the restaurant was fully booked. There are two separate U-shaped counters with 7 seats vertically on the right hand side. The area in the back is for regulars, and the area in the front seems to be divided for casual customers and tourists. This restaurant has a style where the young female staff cooks the food on the iron plate right in front of you. In Tokyo, I think there are only a few left that you can occasionally see on the east side of the downtown area around Koto Ward. So, I immediately started drinking bottled beer (it's good to be able to choose from each manufacturer) and Super Dry. Choose hormone (small intestine, so-called Shiro) and lean beef. I was asked, ``Do you add onions to red meat?'' Of course, I said ``YES,'' as I love onions. A black-haired, fair-skinned lady skillfully grilled it and asked, "Can you prepare the sauce?" Ask them to put the sauce on a small plate. Is the sauce miso sauce? Green onions are typical of Western Japan. There are condiments such as grated garlic, but they are rare. I saw that he was confident in his meat. No extra seasoning needed. But is miso sauce the default in Okayama Prefecture? Come to think of it, the Matsusaka area in Mie Prefecture was also like that. The offal is soft but still has elasticity, and as you continue to chew it, a faint delicious fat comes out. It's like chewing cheap hormone-grilled gum, you can't chew it all. There is a world of difference between something that you don't know when to swallow. (Is it rude to compare?) Furthermore, even though the red meat is lean, it has just the right amount of flavor and fat. Also, the sweetness goes well with the crunchy texture of the grilled onions. Also, the miso sauce is light and doesn't interfere with the natural flavor of the meat. Yes, it's as delicious as rumored. Move the grilled meat to the front of your seat to maintain its temperature. Looking at the menu, it seems like they use Japanese black beef. Then, the couple next door came to talk to me, tipsy. It seems like the neighbors came from around Yamaguchi too, huh? Are you from Tokyo? Well, thank you for your hard work. We're both outsiders. How exciting. That's good. This kind of relaxed atmosphere is typical of downtown Tokyo. However, there is one disappointing point. I don't put much effort into drinks at all. Just serve commercially available alcohol. (See photo) That's just a shame. After all, this is a yakiniku restaurant, not an izakaya. As I was thinking about this, there were pictures and autographs from famous people from all over the world when they visited. I noticed that the place was crowded and sticky. I once again think that it is the most popular restaurant in Tsuyama, but there are some people who really don't know about it. Next, I ordered liver from a beautiful lady. When asked, "How do you bake it?" For this quality of meat, go with rare. It's cooked in a flash and when you eat it, there's no harsh taste at all. It's so soft that you can sink your teeth into it, and it's fresh. I don't need teeth~♪ That's what they say. I'd like to order a salad too. Primitive with a lot of sourness that is different from the modern one. The dressing brings out the vegetables and removes the fat from the meat. However, the kimchi was neither spicy nor sweet, and had no impact, which was a shame. Then, around 7:30pm, I noticed the regulars starting to leave. If you want to come in on the same day without an appointment, just call late around 8pm and confirm. Depending on the timing, you might be able to get a seat. As expected, there were ``Reserved Seats'' signs placed on the three four-seater tables on the left. I think this place has a gas stove and you can grill it yourself. It seems that the popular ``Chie Nabe'' is popular in winter. In addition, the staff members do not interfere excessively with customers and are frank and natural. Gather around the iron plate and enjoy delicious meat with once-in-a-lifetime people. A middle-aged man who came from Hakata on a solo trip joins the restaurant, and he also buys alcohol and meat. In the second half, I forgot what I ate. Not only is it delicious, but Isn't this a famous restaurant with a natural atmosphere that doesn't cater to outsiders? If you feel like visiting Tsuyama, you should make a reservation by phone. Payment is cash only. The price is quite high if you just look at the numbers, but Considering the quality of the meat, I don't think there is anything to complain about. Ah~, Manzoku, Manzoku, Wiss, Ah, it feels so good~♪ See you again, Chie-chan. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance, but I hope the day will come when we can meet again. Thank you for the meal.

There are quite a lot of things that require reservations, such as skirt steak, and we always feel like we're taking a gamble when we make reservations with the intention of going on the same day, but so far we've only been turned down once! It seems to be okay. A style that can be grilled. All the onions and ordered meat are mixed together and grilled on a teppanyaki grill. Eat it by picking it from the iron plate. It may not be suitable for people with a detailed personality or those who like beauty. But it doesn't bother me at all. I like Harami, Sozuri, and Hormones. I think customer service varies from person to person, but there are certainly times when the atmosphere is amazing, but it's like a Spartan education. There is nothing to eat in the duty-free area after security check. The best place to eat is at the 7-Eleven on the first floor. Security checks are done on time for each flight, so you don't have to wait long.

The airport is really small, which has pros and cons. Pros: Very straightforward, after check-in they tell you at what time the security checks start and if you are early you can check some of the few souvenir stores and restaurants on the second floor or the 7/11 on the first floor. Cons: Security checks and immigration staff is limited so you might wait a while. Also since the airport is small there is limited transportation options to the center. There is a bus and a train, but when I arrived in had to wait almost 1 hour for the next train and for the return flight I had no choice but to arrive two hours prior to departure as the next bus would have been hours later.

Petite airport ! Not too many shops! Fast immigration check!

First time be in Yonago Kitaro Airport. The airport is very convenient and baggage claim is also very good and there are buses that go directly to Matsue.
Andi M — Google review
It's a small, well-maintained airport with friendly people. Kitaro characters are everywhere, and even the stained glass on the airport ceiling is cute! The only drawback is that there is a smoking room at the departure gate (even though it has a door), so you have to breathe secondhand smoke while waiting to board. That's why 4 stars.

Small airport that is easy to get around. It has one domestic flight to Tokyo Haneda and two international routes, to Hong Kong and Seoul. Access by public transportation is not good but has both bus and train to nearby cities.

Tajima Airfield - Konotori Tajima Airport

Regional airport
Tajima Airport is a small, efficient rural airport with limited amenities. It offers one café and several small shops for passengers to enjoy. However, it's important to note that there is only one bus per flight for transportation to and from the airport, making access somewhat restricted. Additionally, once past security, there are no restroom facilities available within the airport itself.
Small airport serving JAL commuter and cargo flights. The check-in staff was efficient and friendly. There is a small gift shop, rental car counter and cafe in the lobby and a large parking lot.
Caitlin S — Google review
Very compact rural airport. One cafe and small shops available. For access from/to the toyooka city or Kinosaki Onsen, only one bus per flight from/to airport. After security, there is no toilet. And usually you cannot use toilet in the plane as the seat belt sign rarely goes off due to the short distance.

Small airport in the country. There is no need. There is only flight to ITM.

(Translated by Google) It's a small airport with only two round trips of propeller planes to Itami. From the security entrance to boarding, you only have to move sideways about 50 meters. It feels like you're on a bus instead of a plane. Please note that there are no toilets after security. The flight time is short, so you may not be able to use the toilet even in the air, so make sure to use the toilet before security. The nearest city is Toyooka. It's about 15 minutes by bus or taxi. A taxi costs about 2,500 yen. The bus time is based on the arrival and departure of the plane, and you can go to Kinosaki Onsen via Toyooka Station. The flight time to Itami is about 30 minutes, and it has good access to central Osaka from Itami, so considering that it takes about 2.5 hours to get from Toyooka to Osaka by express train, I think the speed of the plane is utilized. In fact, the flight to Itami on Friday evening was almost full with business travelers (the capacity is about 48 people). There was a long-cherished wish for a direct flight to Haneda, but it's probably not possible to fly a small propeller plane to Haneda, so it's not possible unless the airport is expanded. The museum has a small dining area and a souvenir shop. The smoking area is outside, next to the YS11 exhibit. There are no toilets or smoking areas after security.

Okayama Momotaro Airport

Airport
International airport
Okayama Momotaro Airport is a typical regional airport in Japan. It offers an airport bus service to JR Kurashiki station, taking about 40 minutes, and from there it's a 10-minute walk to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter through the shopping arcade. The airport features shops selling local specialties like peach pudding and black curry. International passengers can access the Muscat lounge, while all passengers can pay 1100 yen for entry.
"I was there yesterday. There are lots of changes happening .and it amaze me.especially the robot thing.I will be back at Jan 28 for another flight.and to see more updates on its improvement.so far I got good services provided by the airport and it's nice"

A typical Japanese regional airport. The airport has shops that sell local delicacies such as peach pudding and black curry. The airport's lounge for international passengers - the Muscat lounge can be accessed both by business class passengers, and even economy passengers can pay 1100 yen to access the lounge. Due to its small amount of international flights, the TSA check and immigration opens 1.5 hours before the flight departs. Despite its size, it also features an observation deck, which offers a great view of the apron and the runway. Reaching Okayama airport usually involves an airport limousine-bus ride from Okayama city. However, when arriving here from other cities like Kurashiki, a taxi ride is a must as public transportation is pretty much non-existent.

Lovely small regional airport.Free parking areas 2,3,4. One convenience store before you go through security as well as coffee shop. Small souvenir shop domestic side. Staff friendly and helpful.

Typical rural Japanese airport. Nothing unique, special. Compact and clean having enough number of shops and restaurants for the size of the airport.

Small airport, but you can find some souvenirs related to Momotaro San here (also some famous Japanese snacks from other cities)

Great small airport, although it's only offering domestic flights at the moment. Good transport links to both Okayama and Kurashiki stations with free parking. The airport is really small and even when busy getting through security will only take 5 minutes and the gates are a few steps away. Flights to Taiwan start this month, March 2023.
Judy O — Google review
A relatively small domestic airport. Fairly large parking space. Airline lounge is located after passing through the security area. The security area can be quite busy and long queue can be expected. The lounge itself is quite small.
Khin T — Google review
I only flew through this airport one time, and it was more than 3 or 4 years ago, so I can't say my review is comprehensive. But I just do recollect that I like the fact that this fairly small airport was somehow tucked into the middle of some rolling hills, which were carved away to create an airport. The services in the airport were okay but not great while the flights are on time (pretty much as you would expect in Japan anyhow) and I had absolutely no trouble navigating the facility.

Tottori Airport

Airport
Regional airport
Tottori Airport is a small but well-managed airport located just a 5-minute walk from JR Tottori Train Station. The airport offers Japanese-style accommodations with traditional garden views and free Wi-Fi in the lobby. Guests can also enjoy a spacious public hot-spring bath. The airport features charming Detective Conan decorations, including posters, picture points, statues, and even a souvenir shop dedicated to the character.
A must-visit airport for Detective Conan fans! I really like 1:1 character figures on display. There is an airport limousine bus direct to Tottori sta. but not frequent. Taxi costs around 3100 yen.
Chamniphol T — Google review
Wasn‘t there for a flight but to see the Detective Conan statues and exhibits. Those were really nice to see and a nice addition to the ones at Conan Street. We planned to take a shuttle bus back to Tottori Station but it got delayed due to a delayed plane (probably becausee of the weather). A employee at the information desk was so kind to inform us about that, offered to refund our ticket for the bus and called us taxi, when we asked for it. His englisch was quite good too. So great staff and customer service and a cool experience for Detective Conan Fans.

From Oct 2 - 6, 2024, my wife and I visited the Airport three times, primarily because we missed our 13:25 flight which should arrive by 14:45. On Oct 2, 2024, we arrived at 17:45. While our Times car rental closed at 15:00, we could catch a 17:55 airport limousine. On Oct 3, 2024, we returned to the airport again at around noon to pick up our rental car. Apart from shopping, I played the piano and my performance was taped by an appreciative tourist who clapped her hands. On Oct 6, 2024, after returning our rental car, my wife had a special coffee while I played the piano again before flying out of Tottori.

Conan airport! It’s definitely cute but I wish they have some more shops and restaurants. It’s kinda dry and I was hungry since it’s an early morning flight.

There are many spots where you can take photos of the "Detective Conan" manga. Depending on the day, airport events are held, and the airport becomes bustling with various vendor booths.

Small airport but well managed, you can see flights from the observation deck, there are souvenir shops and coffee shop, and picture gallery too. Also cute conan detective pictures!! You can rent a car from the airport, many options available like times car, orix, nippon rental , etc
Supriya K — Google review
Very lovingly decorated with Detective Conan posters, picture points and statues. There is even a Conan souvenir shop in the airport! Besides a small cafe, the airport does not seem to have other food options. Car rental options are plenty. However, public buses to the Tottori station from bus stop #1 is not frequent, estimated a bus every hour or so. This airport also does not connect directly to any train station.

Takamatsu Airport

Airport
Regional airport
Takamatsu Airport offers convenient transportation options, including a limousine bus that takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Kawaramachi Station. From there, travelers can access the Kotoden Line to Hanazono Station. The airport also provides free private parking for guests. Nearby attractions include the ruins of Takamatsu Castle and Kagawas Prefectural Museum, as well as the beautiful Ritsurin Koen garden, just a short train ride away.
Small local restaurant but many things you can enjoy. We enjoyed eating udons from two different restaurants (one on the first floor and the other is on the second floor). Both udon restaurants provide different styles and I liked both of them. Also gift shops have lots of udon items, yadon character items, and local stuff. We found lemon cakes are so tasty and olive soda was interesting but a must try item. The check in counters are located on the first floor and security check lines are on the second floor. There are small duty free shops and vending machines after the security check.

It's a small airport but it's super easy to navigate. The Airport Limousine (shuttles for getting into town centre) is just a few steps outside the sliding door, which make it even more convenient. Baggage belt was fast, custom straightforward. There is also a Metro but need to walk further down.
Ken I — Google review
My partner and I often use this airport when we visit family. It’s convenients enough - not too big to navigate and get lost in and not too small either so it accommodates just the right number of shops for souvenirs and restaurants for meals before/after a flight. There are international flights as well, but to a couple of limited countries and cities. There’s a very simple credit card lounge, but unfortunately no lounges operated by Japan’s 2 biggest carriers. The airport is probably most famous for the faucets where you can get dashi (soup stock) for udon. Try it!
ARBN — Google review
A relative small airport. Few shops between domestic and international departure floor; one duty free shop and one gate inside the international terminal.
W. L — Google review
a small but has-it-all airport. my only complaint is it’s such an important airport for setouchi art triennial goers but they don’t have the JR tkt station here. so inconvenient that you NEED to go to okayama. you’ll also need to take a bus to reach the train system. it’s only bus or taxi here.
Beergal H — Google review
This airport was as small as expected. It mainly served domestic flights, plus a few international flights. Therefore, the terminal was not so busy all the time. When I arrived there by plane, it took about an hour for the customs clearance. At that time, the number of passengers from the plane was about 180. Two counters were operating, and only one or two officers could speak some English. Airplanes could park by the terminal and connected by a covered footbridge. Luggage was not damaged, which sounded good. There were several eateries and souvenir shops. Toilets were clean. Since udon was made in this province, I chose to eat in one noodle shop on the second floor. The quality was fine. But beware of the business hours because the lunch serving time was finished early. The staff in the souvenir shops were friendly. There were car rental representatives on duty in their respective counter, who led their customers to the shuttle van because all car rental companies were located in the surrounding area. A theme park was built adjacent to the airport.
Joseph C — Google review
*This is a review for the domestic terminal only* Takamatsu is a compact airport. 2 floors and only a few shops. I used the domestic terminal and I wasn’t especially impressed with the organization or facilities available. Compared with other small sized airports in Japan it seems a little dated and poorly maintained. The security checked was very disorganized and it seemed that the staff were a little overwhelmed on a busy Friday afternoon (JAL, ANA and Jet Star all had flights leaving). There were many people standing as there clearly isn’t enough seating for the volume of passengers. Finally, once you are airside there are only 2 small kiosks for food, drink and souvenirs. So make sure the eat, drink and shop before heading through security.

Good rural airport. 40 mins to/from the city center. Good restaurants and shops and 1 modern cafe inside. It is a pity not to have an airline lounge, though.
