Batangas City in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Batangas City, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Batangas City is a convenient gateway to the province’s beaches and dive spots, with ferries connecting to nearby islands and the biodiverse Verde Island Passage. In the city itself, you can visit Spanish-era churches like the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, local shrines, and riverside promenades that reflect its history as a trading port. The area is known for Batangueño specialties such as lomi, bulalo, and strong “kapeng barako” coffee, which you’ll find in simple eateries and cafés. Colorful local festivals and religious celebrations offer an easy way to experience everyday culture in Southern Luzon.
With favorites like Nuciti Central Mall, KFC, and Max's Restaurant, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Johanna's Grille and Max's Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Batangas City while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Shopping mall
If you're looking for a vibrant shopping experience in Batangas, SM City Batangas is the place to be! This expansive mall has become a hub of activity, drawing in locals and visitors alike with its diverse array of shops and dining options. From popular retail brands like BENCH and Guess to delightful eateries and cafes, there's something for everyone. The mall also features entertainment facilities such as a cinema and play area, making it an ideal spot for families.
Think it deserves a 5 stars as the place is neat, clean and well maintained with both SM supermarket, departmental stores available together with many retail stores and restaurants. Easily spent 2-4 hours in there. Highly recommended!

Excellent shopping mall right in the heart of Batangas. Plenty of different stores with lots of varieties. The restaurants are very good especially with so many choices. I like burger King and pizza hut the best. They also have play areas for children. Our kids always want to play whenever we go there.

Fire mall. Good shops and places to eat. The workers were very nice and helpful. Definitely would recommend anyone to visit if they’re nearby.
Min S — Google review
The SM City Batangas supermarket provides a convenient shopping experience with a spacious layout, ample parking, and a diverse range of products. However, some customers have noted occasional issues with long checkout lines during peak hours. Overall, it remains a popular choice for grocery shopping in the area.

2 floors? First time visiting Batangas. Plenty of Parking space for vehicles. Service can still be improved. People of Batangas are mostly kind.

It was good place to visit :) ,lots of parking but you need to pay 20 pesos,we are having fun here.
Ana S — Google review
Used to be a fun place to visit many years ago. But not anymore. Many brands have closed down their shops here and those remaining are not that interesting anymore. The building is also old and not well maintained. Toilets are dirty. Even the Christmas decors don’t have the wow factor. If you see other malls especially Ayala Malls, you’ll be amazed with their Christmas decors. They also start charging parking fee which is a major turn off. After they started collecting parking fees, the security guards stopped being nice. Better go to SM Lipa which has excellent customer service, with more stores and restaurants.
Rommel L — Google review
Always an enjoyable adventure going to SM Mall and SM Supermarket. There is no denying it; SM Mall is all about "Human Safety First". There are multiple security officers with big guns, everyone is screened -- PURE LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE MANY YEARS I'VE BEEN COMING HERE I'VE NEVER SEEN ANY OFFICERS EGO TRIPPING ON POWER. Quite the contrast of what's experienced in the USA.

Fast food restaurant
Chicken restaurant
Jollibee is a popular Philippines-based fast food chain known for its burgers, fried chicken, spaghetti, and Filipino dishes. With over 1,500 stores in 17 countries, it is the largest fast food chain brand in the Philippines. The restaurant offers a typical Jollibee vibe with friendly staff and quick order fulfillment. Customers appreciate the clean atmosphere and variety of food options available at Jollibee. Some locations even have kiosks for contactless ordering.
Attended here for a birthday. Jolli Hosts are commendable and they are organized. Happy that this branch has a lactating room.

October 29,2025 Nagorder ako ng 3 sets of 2pcs chickenjoy, palabok and burger. Nagask ako ng ketchup for my chicken but the staff is reluctant n magbigay so pinasa nia ako sa manage nia name Allan, he told me na ketchup ay para sa fries lng ( with dismay face while talking to me) He told me n if i want ketchup for my chicken i need to give back my gravy that comes with it. Nakakasad lng how our favorite fastfood chain turn out to be like this.. a simple ketchup and yet d nila kayang iprovide for complimentary:( I still double check with him if it is Jollibee SOP and he said YES.

Since it's my first time dining in, I'll rate it honestly, the food was great, you can have many options, and when it comes to paying bills it is faster. The service is great, they are very approachable, some dining crew also help those customer who doesn't know how to order. For the atmosphere, I rate it 4 well it is really good, but when I use the toilet I was really dissapointed, it is messy, but it's not the store crew fault, it's the customer I guess, but overall its good.

Scenario: went to drive-thru last night, and at the claiming window I asked if they could refill my tumbler with water (so I handed my tumbler) but eventually the lady didn't took it and told me that she will give me a water on the cup. So I'm a bit confused because it would be easier if they took my cup and refilled it. Eventually, I made a bit of a fuss on it, and they took my tumbler and asked me to move to parking, and they would deliver the food there. So I waited for my food and tumbler in the parking area. My food arrived, and it was delivered by the lady on the claiming window. She explained everything of why the management didn't allow them to take the tumbler inside and refill it. It was due to safety health issues. I REALLY APPRECIATE Ma'am Emz for taking the time to explain why she refused to take the tumbler. Really a jolly person.

I specifically asked for wing or thigh, but then the one I got was a rib part. This is not the first time that it happened. They even put wing/thigh on the receipt but when I opened it, it was rib part.

I came to Jollibee in Batangas City today, April 26, 2025, for a birthday celebration I was invited to. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware beforehand that the store isn't pet-friendly. The security guard on duty was quite dismissive and unhelpful. When I politely inquired about bringing my dog in an enclosed stroller, his response was a confusing "oh, eh anong gagawin ko?". Thinking he hadn't understood, I clarified with a smile that I was just confirming their pet policy. After returning to my car to get my dog in the stroller, the same guard approached me, stating he hadn't understood me earlier and realizing it was a dog, "Ay aso pala yan". He didn't apologize for the miscommunication. His lack of attentiveness and unprofessional demeanor was frustrating.
RD M — Google review
Has the usual Jollibee vibe. Adding the kiosk was a big addition to the experience. Food is as usual for a jollibee. Theres alot of tables considering its lunch. Order fulfillment is fast compared to other branch. No fries and shang hai unfortunately 😕. Overall great experience.

Shopping mall
Bay City Mall in Batangas City is a vibrant and modern shopping hub that caters to both locals and visitors alike. With its air-conditioned environment, it provides a comfortable escape from the heat, especially on bustling weekends when shoppers flock from nearby towns. The mall boasts an impressive array of stores, dining options—including popular fast food joints—and entertainment facilities that make it an ideal spot for families and friends to gather.
It such a wonderful place... staff are jolly and good... the waiter named maricel is amazing at service she gives extra miles .. hope she received an award and i will be grearful for that as your normal customer.

Bay City Mall in Batangas City is a modern shopping destination offering a variety of stores, dining options, and entertainment facilities. It's a great place to shop, dine, and hang out with friends and family.
Emier C — Google review
Its a mall I suppose. There are multiple fast food chain branches in it, and a supermarket, which always seems to be congested around the cashier area. The mall needs some environmental renovation, but it does have the ambiance of those old style Filipino malls.
Einjel E — Google review
Good but it gives the vibe that you're in a too old building (which in fact, it is) rather than a well maintained place
Evans O — Google review
Honestly traumatized. This rating was written on the day of October 14, 2025. I lost my wallet in the mall today and approached a security guard as one would, to ask for help. I was both rudely ignored and dismissed. I asked kindly if I could perhaps view the cctv since we looked everywhere we went prior to asking, all I go was "mahirap yan", "anong gagawin namin?". This was heart breaking for me since nandun ang natitirang pera ko. I know my responsibility as the owner of the wallet pero sana nag pakita sila ng pakikisimpatya at nakatulong. Never returning, how disappointing.
Shantel I — Google review
Good service, wide parking space but they aren't hussle free as a lot of people are going in and out every time they're open from 9 am to 9 pm
Cesa S — Google review
Very accessible like other malls. One stop shop is inside the mall but the parking space is small.
CHERRY P — Google review
Have lots of foods chains, a supermarket, bookstore, cheap accessories, and dept store. The only problem is that, it IS super crowded esp. during weekends. The first floor only has... 2-meter walking space, and the entire place is occupied by stalls. Also, its hot, even with A/C on, it is still hot. Prolly because of too much human traffic.

Minor Basilica and Parish of the Immaculate Conception (Archdiocese of Lipa)

Basilica
Church
The Minor Basilica-Parish of the Immaculate Conception and Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño ng Batangan is a significant historical and religious site in Batangas City, showcasing impressive architecture and a rich heritage. As the mother church of Vicariate in Batangas City, it holds great importance as the center of Catholic faith in the province's capital.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Minor Basilica and Parish of the Immaculate Conception in Batangas City, also known as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño de Batangan. This historic church, established as an independent parish in 1614, is a true gem with a rich history and an atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly. The basilica, completed on February 2, 1857, is a breathtaking example of neoclassical architecture. The grand façade, with its elegant columns and intricate details, immediately draws you in. Once inside, the serene atmosphere provides a perfect setting for reflection and prayer. I can’t quite put into words the comfort I felt—it was as if a wave of peace washed over me. From an architectural and artistic standpoint, this place is simply stunning. I was particularly taken by the graceful arches and the detailed artwork that adorns the interior. The beautifully crafted altar is a true masterpiece, reflecting the dedication and skill of its creators. High ceilings and large windows allow natural light to flood the space, adding to the tranquil and majestic feel. The basilica’s significance as an Archdiocesan Shrine dedicated to Santo Niño de Batangan makes it even more special. You can sense the deep devotion of the many visitors who come to pay their respects and seek blessings. Overall, my visit to the Minor Basilica and Parish of the Immaculate Conception was an incredibly enriching experience. Whether you're a devout pilgrim or someone who appreciates history and architecture, this basilica is a must-visit in Batangas City. The blend of historical significance, architectural beauty, and spiritual serenity makes it a truly unique and memorable destination.

Johanna's Grille is a popular restaurant located in the heart of Batangas City, known for its signature dishes that capture the essence of Filipino flavors. The menu features must-try items like the Adobo Supreme and delicious baby back ribs. While the ambience exudes an old Hispanic charm with modern touches, some suggest updating it to a more modern style. Despite this, patrons appreciate the affordable and tasty food, along with refreshing beverages and delightful desserts.
Serving size is very generous, and the food is delicious, especially for the price they offer. We recommend passing by when you visit Batangas City.

A quaint place to have brunch with a lot of people. They serve one of the best baby back ribs in Batangas City. Can be a bit hot when afternoon arrives. The location. Situated at the heart of Batangas City. The parking tho is a bit small The food. The baby back ribs is a must try. PS: they should update the place to be more of a modern style. I always see this place has less customers as time goes by. But they have delicious food.

Food is affordable and very tasty. The ambience is very old Hispanic with touch of modernity thru the trinkets of toys from past. It is quite hot due to no airconditioning the restaurant is open window . Points for improvements is airconditioning. Food service also needs improvement because it is quite slow.
Adel T — Google review
Spacious open air venues with good food, gently five star since the water glasses were much larger than everywhere else I’ve ever seen here. I freaking love that so much. Although I did not see shakes on the menu and really wanted a shake. Here are some pics of the menu.

We tried their Baby Back Ribs, Sisig Dinuguan, Kalderetang Kambing, Sizzling Bangus, Baked Tahong, Lengua and Turon. They were okay. Nothing exceptional, though. The place was clean and service was quick. They just need to improve the cooking.

Chicken restaurant
Max's Restaurant is a beloved Filipino dining chain that has captured the hearts of many with its signature fried chicken, famously paired with banana ketchup. This establishment not only excels in serving this iconic dish but also offers an extensive menu filled with traditional Filipino favorites like Kare-Kare and Sinigang, each prepared to evoke the warmth of home-cooked meals. The atmosphere at Max's is perfect for gatherings, featuring spacious rooms suitable for events such as weddings and seminars.
Maxis is a good choice to discover typical Filipino dishes. They have good quality food. And the service is what you expect. They also have a couple of convention/party rooms that are interconnected and so can expand. Good for weddings, seminars and other meetings.

This is one branch with efficient crew. Orders came in faster than the usual 15-20 minutes wait. The vegetable lumpia was served inside a crispy fried lumpia wrapper shaped like a bowl.

We got here for celebration of my graduation only to be disappointed. They have very poor services and the staffs do not seemed to be well trained, we got way earlier from other customers and yet our order was given to us way later than the others. This is supposed to be a happy moment but turned to be frustration and to think we've brought some guests, how disappointing, really. Never wanted to try here again, plus the prices are very expensive and what you get is just a very small bowl of food. 😤😤😤

Pizza restaurant
Yellow Cab Pizza Co., like other franchised eateries, upholds its reputation for serving delectable meals. Their renowned dishes include the savory charlie chan and four cheese pizzas, alongside the satisfying yet slightly salty potato wedges. It's safe to say that patrons yearn for their food and eagerly anticipate a return visit. However, one star was deducted due to limited parking caused by temporary structures and signages likely related to past COVID-19 restrictions.
I love the food, the people and the place. Cozy and warm welcoming people. I hope you would consider opening a nearer branch. Maybe in Diversion Rd?

This is the worst YC I ever had... ordered BBQ chicken 9" thick, and received the thinnest pizza I have ever seen, with only 2-3 pieces of BBQ chicken on top. I thought I was a mistake, but the staff said this was correct!!! I'm very sure this brance didn't make pizza according to YC standard. If I could give them minus 5 star for the I would have done that...
JIMMI R — Google review
Same with other franchised restaurants, Yellow Cab maintained their delicious meals. It's been a while since I tasted their famous charlie chan and four cheese, plus the quite salty but fulfilling potato wedges. I can say that I missed their food, and would love to come back again soon. I deducted a star because the store has very limited parking for now as there's a tent and signages blocking the way, maybe due to past covid restrictions. Overall, eating here solves your hunger and would be visiting again to have one of my fave - Dear Darla.

This branch seems to not have many customers. Serving time takes too long and takes more than 20+ minutes to get a NY hot dog! Sometimes this place gets way too cold inside and the atmosphere is kind of dead. Pizza is always good here but last time eating here the chicken strips tasted a bit old.

The staff's accommodation was commendable.

Bernandita S — Google review
I'm a regular here and the staff are just miserable to deal with every time. They make you feel like you're more of a nuisance than a customer. It's the only kfc in walking distance so I have to put up with it. They rarely have the chicken parts you want. They changed the mashed potato recipe or something and it's terrible now. The place is dingy. And they just let people's leftovers sit there forever. So I never actually dine in. They force you to order through this machine that's supposed to make ordering faster but it just ends up slowing everything down while people swipe up and down this giant tablet looking for their orders. Wonder if anyone at the main branch or head office will take a look at this place.
Matt T — Google review
The employees are okay but this branch is understaffed. I take a look at the crew and they obviously look like they don't want to work there. There is a delay in service and it's super not nice to experience especially during lunch time. Food is great but I would like to highlight that there are foods from the menu that are not available most of the time. Why put it up there if it's not available? The atmosphere is so dead. It makes me sleepy. There's no music. It makes you not dine in and just eat your food somewhere else. I sincerely hope anyone from the upper management would look into the wellbeing of the staff and operation of this branch and make it better. I rated two stars because I want to believe that the staff are trying to do their best despite the situation.
