Maniwa in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Maniwa, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Maniwa offers a mix of mountain scenery and traditional small-town charm in northern Okayama Prefecture. Visitors can soak in riverside open-air baths at Yubara Onsen, hike to Kanba Falls—one of Japan’s noted waterfalls—or enjoy the plateau views and outdoor activities of the Hiruzen Highlands. The preserved streets of Katsuyama district feature historic merchant houses and distinctive noren curtains, giving a glimpse of everyday life in a former castle town. It’s a quieter alternative to Japan’s big cities, with easy access to nature in every season.
With favorites like Kanba Falls (INCORRECT destination if driving), Tsuruya Hiruzen Branch, and Hiruzen-kogen Service Area (Southbound), we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Suitonbō and Tsuruya Hiruzen Branch so you can get the best taste of Maniwa while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Hiruzen-kogen SA South bound toll road rest stop offers a diverse selection of unique mementos from Okayama, Shimane, and Tottori. Additionally, the atmosphere in this region is refreshingly pure. One can find a delectable Cheese Cake at this specific service area that is incredibly delicious.
I often stop by this SA going back to Yonago. They have really yummy sundae ice cream made from fresh cow’s milk from Hiruzen.

we ate ramen here. Sorry for not uploading a picture since we are so hungry and in a hurry. There is a lot of store inside. Lots of affordable foods (such as noodles, rice meals and even pastries, they even sells ice cream in a very cold weather haha), drinks (coffee, tea, soda and more).

Rest stop
Michi-no-Eki Hiruzen Highlands Rest Stop, located in Okayama Prefecture, is a charming highland resort reminiscent of Karuizawa near Tokyo. The rest stop offers a restaurant and bicycle rentals, as well as a wide variety of local specialties such as sables and cheesecakes made with dairy products from Jersey cows. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the Hiruzen Hills at night and explore the area's delicious dining options and souvenir shops.
Big farmers market & souvenirs shop - the shiitake mushrooms stall & roasted chestnuts stall were great as well as lots of great veggies & fruit at good prices. Also good EV charger if you have an electric car (30 min limit 50kwh)

(Translated by Google) I arrived around 9pm. The roadside station was closed, but there was an on-site accommodation facility, and I felt at ease knowing the staff were there. There were several other vehicles resting there, but it was very quiet and the users were well-mannered, making for a relaxing stay. The starry sky was beautiful at night, and the next morning I enjoyed a pleasant stroll around the area. The on-site bakery opens at 7am, offering delicious freshly baked bread. When I stopped by, a motorcyclist was there to buy some bread, so it seemed popular. The restrooms are separated by gender, with separate entrances once inside the building, making them warm and comfortable even in winter. The facilities are also clean, giving a sense of security. This roadside station is convenient for both overnight breaks and morning stops, and I think it's a pleasant place to spend time. (Translated by Google) I stayed overnight in my car. The toilet lights are activated by a sensor. There are doors at the entrance to the toilet and the men's and women's toilets, which is great because it prevents insects from getting in. The toilets are also equipped with washlets and I think they are well-cleaned. There is little traffic at night, so it is quiet. Conversely, it's so quiet that it makes me feel uneasy. In fact, it's so quiet that you can hear conversations from people camping in their cars nearby, so it's almost rude to make noise like opening or closing a door. There is a bakery on the premises that opens from 7am, so it was quite convenient for breakfast. However, while the hotel's website states that the large public bath is available for drop-in use, I was told at the front desk that it is not available on weekdays. This was a problem as there are no public baths nearby. If they list detailed drop-in times, I wish they would also list the days of the week when it is available.

Hiruzen Jersey Land, located in northern Okayama, offers a delightful experience with jersey cows and horseback riding. Indulge in the delectable soft-serve made from fresh jersey milk while enjoying the scenic mountain views. In addition to purchasing delicious cheese and dairy products, visitors can also try their hand at milking a cow for a rewarding bottle of milk. Despite the summer heat, this place is definitely worth a visit for an unforgettable experience.
If you love dairy then this is a great place for soft serve, creamy milk, cheese and sausages! Definitely get the strong cheese and cream puff!!! As a bonus you also get to run in the sunflower fields!

What a wonderful place!! Serenity makes you feel closer to nature. if you like cattle this is the place, cows horses and fresh and natural milk, soft serve and yogurt is yummy. Recommend place!!
Fatima B — Google review
We went near closing, but still enjoyed feeding the horses and taking in the scenery. We went the day after heavy rain, so some places were hard to walk through, but it was still quite beautiful.
Ashley T — Google review
There is not actually very much to do at Jersey Land, especially if the weather isn't good. If they're outside, the cows never seem to be very close so the only possible interaction with any animal is to pay to ride a tame pony round a paddock. There is a small shop and a restaurant, but not much else...
Phil V — Google review
The day I visited, it was heavy snow and so cold. Their food is so tasty and the service is so nice like a hotel.
Google review
Admittedly coming from the UK, we see a lot of cows and such in our countryside so it is not a particularly interesting tourist attraction for other people who have similar access to the countryside and agriculture. Having said that the facility itself is well presented and offers a wide range of dairy products including ice creams and cheeses made from their own herd's milk. The surrounding views are beautiful. Not worth making a special journey for, but worth a stop if you're in the area anyway.
Kidd W — Google review
Awesome experience! Also you can buy some really delicious cheese and dairy goods here. If you get a chance to milk a cow, it is totally worth the 700¥. You get a bottle of milk when you finish!

This is a great place up in northern Okayama. You can see jersey cows here and as well as ride horses. The softcream made from fresh jersey milk is absolutely something you must try yourself. During the summer it can get hot, so don't be fooled even though you're up in the mountains.

Hiruzen Kogen Center & Joyful Park is a mountain-view amusement park offering a variety of rides, fairground games, and mini golf. The park also features a cafe serving local highland specialties like Hiruzen yakisoba and jingisukan. Visitors can explore the shopping center showcasing regional products and specialty items.
I had an amazing day in Hiruzen Kogen Center! We didn’t see much snow in the Okayama city so it’s definitely a great place to make a day-trip for a snowy day vacation if you happen to be in the prefecture~ The jingisukan was very delicious 🥹🤤They serve halal-certified lamb for the barbecue so it’s very muslim-friendly and even delicious salt & pepper mix for people who can’t consume the sauce because it contains mirin. The ice cream making experience was also very fun! I had never made handmade ice cream before and I find the ball-rolling method a very interesting way to make the ice cream, kids love it very much too~ It’s February so we were able to participate in the annual “Yuki Koi Snow Festival” and tried making miniature snow igloos by ourselves. I have never tried it before so I’m not good at making them but they even provide tools that we can use to decorate them, other people also made things like snow sculpture and snowman, it looks very cool! They also offers candle in the afternoon to insert in the snow igloos so people can enjoy beautiful snow illumination when the sun is setting~ There are also many food stalls that sells things like croquettes and fries and soft cream made using the infamous Hiruzen jersey milk which tastes very delicious 💕 I also really love the taste of the Hiruzen jersey milk cheese cake and jingisukan curry that I bought as souvenirs (many of the souvenirs also use halal ingredients, for those who are interested in buying them). I would definitely visit this place again someday if I have the chance~

Had the most amazing time in Hiruzen, Okayama with my family! We indulged in the most delicious halal lamb paired with fresh vegetables. Then, we got hands-on and learned how to make ice cream in a ball – so fun! After filling up the ball, we played and even danced with it together! Next, we took advantage of the winter wonderland there to build an igloo and slide through the snow. As the evening fell, we lit candles inside the igloos, creating the most magical illumination. And of course, we couldn’t leave without picking up some tasty snacks at the souvenir shop! Unforgettable memories made here in Hiruzen!

(Translated by Google) A social gathering to thank you for your hard work on the first day of the Maniwa City experience tour was held at an izakaya in Hiruzen Plateau. Speaking of Hiruzen, Hiruzen Yakisoba won the Grand Prix at Himeji's B1 Grand Prix in 2011. There are two types of yakisoba: morning yakisoba and nighttime yakisoba. I ate Hiruzen Yakisoba and Yazen Yakisoba. At night, it has a slightly spicy flavor that goes well with alcohol! And the local specialty, boar gyoza. It definitely tasted a bit like beast, didn't it? There was a menu item called red tempura that I had never seen before, so I ordered it and it was grated red fish tempura.Is this gansu from Hiroshima? This was quite delicious and I was addicted to it. The steamed rice I ate at the end was so warm and delicious. For drinks, I had rosé from Hiruzen wine and sake from a local sake brewery, and I was completely inebriated (^^;; (Original) 真庭市体験ツアー初日お疲れ様の懇親会を蒜山高原の居酒屋で。 蒜山と言えば2011年に姫路のB1グランプリでグランプリを勝ち取ったひるぜん焼きそば。 なんと焼きそばは朝ぜん焼きそばに夜ぜん焼きそばもあるんですよ。食べたのはひるぜん焼きそばと夜ぜん焼きそば。夜ぜんはちょっとビリリと辛い味付けでお酒に合う! それと地元名物の猪餃子。確かにちょっと獣っぽい風味がしたかな? 赤天って見たことないメニューがあったので頼んだら赤身の魚のすりおろしの天ぷらでこれは広島のがんすか?これ、結構美味しくてハマりそうでした。 締めに食べたおこわがまたまたほっこり美味しい〜。 酒は蒜山ワインのロゼや地元の酒蔵の日本酒をいただきすっかり酔っ払いです(^^;;

I looked at the Hiruzen Yakisoba Official Shop Map and chose from among the various shops at Wakatori, which is open at night. In addition to Hiruzen, you can choose Yoruzen, Asazen, etc., and there is a wide variety of regular izakaya menu items and a wide variety of alcohol, so it seems like a fun place to go for a drink. The Kuromoji tea was delicious. The shop did not have counter seats where one person could sit, but I visited around the same time as the shop opened, so there was an empty table for four people. Since it is an izakaya, it might be noisy when there are many people and difficult to enter alone? The timing was good. Nestled conveniently next to the interchange, Tsuruya Hiruzen Branch offers a unique blend of a drive-in restaurant and convenience store experience. This spot is perfect for those seeking a taste of nostalgia with their ramen, featuring delicious char siu, noodles, and soup that evoke comforting memories. While some diners noted fewer bamboo shoots than expected in their dishes, the overall flavors remain safe and satisfying.

(Translated by Google) Hiruzen Yakisoba and Japanese soba are good, but I also had a quick lunch at the diner-like Tsuraya. A katsudon with mini soba noodles costs 920 yen, but you can change the soba to udon. The katsudon was delicious with a sweet and spicy sauce and fairly thick pork cutlet. The mini soba noodles also had a strong dashi flavor and went well with the simple tempura flakes and spring onions, making them very tasty despite being mini noodles. Kimuraya bread is also sold in the same store, so I bought some to take home. A male staff member was working the cash register today, and he was very polite and had a smile on his face. It's been a while since Tsuruya. There are more menu items in the cafeteria❗Meat udon ¥390, chanpon noodles ¥500, great value for money. Frozen ingredients are used wisely and the dish is delicious. The udon soup stock is very delicious. It is frequented by many locals, and bento boxes remain popular. It's been a long time. It was lunchtime, but I was glad it wasn't crowded. Great food, reasonable price. I ate all-you-can-eat Jingisukan. It is very mild and easy to eat. We could eat not only mutton ,but also beef, pork, chicken, vegetables and fruits. Some people came alone on a motorcycle.

When you park your car in the parking lot, the staff will ask you how many people you have and guide you to your seat. You pay the all-you-can-eat fee first and then go to your seat. Unlimited time. Drinks are ordered separately at the seat. It's nice that they have Asahi non-alcoholic beer on tap for drivers. The smoke can be quite strong, so we recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting smelly or dirty. It's a good idea to bring a towel. You'll be drenched in sweat in the summer. If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience, YouYou is a must-visit spot that specializes in Hiruzen Yakisoba. This unique dish features a miso sauce that surprisingly resembles the texture of salt yakisoba, offering an incredibly tasty twist. On weekdays, you might find it easier to snag a seat without waiting long, as many patrons flock to this popular eatery. The regular set meal comes highly recommended and pairs perfectly with their juicy fried chicken.

(Translated by Google) In conclusion, I'll definitely be coming back 👍 This was my first time here. A few years ago, I tried Hiruzen yakisoba at a roadside station in Okayama, but it was too sweet for my taste and I left it, so ever since then I've thought that Hiruzen yakisoba just doesn't suit my taste. However, this restaurant has good reviews and is raved about by YouTubers I subscribe to...so I thought I'd give it a try...✋️ I arrived around 2:30 PM, and there was no one in line, so I thought I'd be able to get a seat right away, but there were actually nine groups waiting!😱😱😱 Even though it was a weekday...and well past lunchtime...everyone else seemed to be waiting in their cars, but I was on my motorcycle, so I waited an hour in the blazing sun.😭😭😭 An hour later, I was finally called and it was time to order!❗ I ordered the Hiruzen Yakisoba Set Meal, a slice of fried chicken, and a non-alcoholic beer.✋️ It was worth the wait in the scorching sun!👍 The taste completely overturned my previous impression of Hiruzen Yakisoba!❗I was quite surprised!😱 "It's completely different from the one I had before!💦" "...So delicious...The fried chicken was amazing..." "I wasn't really excited, but I'm so glad I came!🩷" If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by!👍👍👍 (Original)

However, I was able to go on a weekday, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived at 10:45 and there was one group there. Even when they opened at 11:00, there were only three groups there, including me. I was shown to a table and chose the regular Hiruzen Yakisoba set meal (1,150 yen) and two pieces of fried chicken (420 yen). After a 15-minute wait, my bowl arrived. The Hiruzen Yakisoba was a miso-flavored, chicken-flavored, rather dry-feeling fried noodles, but it had a strong flavor and was perfect as a side dish for rice. The fried chicken was not crispy, but moist, juicy, and plump. In terms of value for money, I feel like this is about what you'd expect in today's world.

(Translated by Google) 2025/6/8 I came here with a friend the first time and it was delicious, so I visited again the second time. This restaurant is famous for its Hiruzen Yakisoba and fried chicken. The delicious smell of garlic and miso was wafting outside the restaurant lol [Parking] There is a large parking lot next to the restaurant with unclear dividing lines. However, since it is a popular restaurant, I think it will be difficult to park a large vehicle on weekends. I arrived after 13:00 on Sunday, and there were about 15 people in front of the restaurant and many people waiting in their cars. This time I waited about 40 minutes before eating. There is a ticket machine with waiting numbers in front of the entrance, and the system is that you are called in order. If you download the dedicated app with the QR code and register for the email newsletter, you can get a 100 yen discount or yogurt (only once). Because it was a weekend, the total amount was 100 yen higher, so I used the 100 yen discount. At the entrance, there was Hiruzen Yakisoba sauce for souvenirs. There were about four counter seats, four table seats, and one tatami room seat. This time, we had to order by smartphone, which was honestly a pain. My smartphone was out of battery, and I thought it must be difficult for the elderly. I ordered Hiruzen Yakisoba and one piece of fried chicken. The fried noodles were chewy and thick, with garlic miso and shichimi for a different flavor, and it was delicious as expected. However, compared to last time, the chicken thighs were small, hard, and few in number, so I wondered what they did... The fried chicken was also smaller, and the taste was good, and it was juicy, but it was sticky with oil around the mouth... I wonder if they didn't have time to drain the oil because there were too many customers... It's a bit disappointing that they can't keep up with the popularity of the restaurant, as the food is very delicious. But it's so addictive that you'll want to eat it again and again, so it's a restaurant I'll definitely want to visit again next time I come to Hiruzen! There is a store in the parking lot with an outdoor sales area for soft-serve ice cream, and inside the store they sell pickles, souvenirs, folk crafts, and more. Outside the store they sell items such as dumplings, persimmons, and pears. We were able to sample Hiruzen-pickled yuzu daikon, barley miso pickles, and red miso pickles, and they were all delicious so I bought the red miso pickles. In addition to being able to see Mt. Our first stop is the Oni-dai Observatory, offering panoramic views of the Ōyama range. Located on the border of Tottori and Okayama prefectures (the address is listed as Okayama), it sits atop a plateau at an altitude of 869 meters, perfectly positioned in the middle of the Ōyama skyline. It's easily accessible by car. The restrooms and rest area sell local specialties, fruits, and vegetables. It boasts a wide view and parking for approximately 30 vehicles. From there, you can see the majestic Ōyama mountain range, including Mount Uru, Mount Ebisu, and Mount Yoshihoshu, while on the other side lies the gentler, green plateau of Sarumae town. Oni-dai is an excellent spot for admiring the Ōyama peaks. If you're going to the Ōyama range, take some time to circle around and enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery. Mountains
Daisen, the highest peak in the Chugoku region, is a volcanic mountain and a center of worship with a Buddhist temple. The village near the hiking trail heads offers accommodations such as Itadaki Daisen and Hotel Daisen Shirogane, along with local properties on Airbnb. While it was once a local ski hub, there are signs of new life in the town. Alternatively, visitors can stay in Yonago, the nearest large city to Daisen.
🌟 5/5 – Unforgettable Mt. Daisen Adventure! We hiked Mt. Daisen at the start of November—technically autumn, though it felt like winter at the peak! Reaching 1,709 meters with a real-feel temperature of just 3°C, we even got caught in a brief hailstorm. It was exhilarating! The climb took about 4 hours up and 2 hours down. My legs and back were sore from the ascent and carrying a backpack, but it was absolutely worth it. We had lunch in a cozy insulated hut near the summit, which was a welcome break in the cold. I went with friends and colleagues, and we took tons of amazing photos. The views, the weather, the challenge—it all made for a journey to remember. So much fun, so much laughter, and a true test of endurance. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a thrilling autumn hike!
Carlo S — Google review
2.5-3 hours to the summit (with a tea break in between) and the path is mostly well maintained. In mid-November, it was quite snowy and slippery from around the attitude of 1,600m. The autumn leaves were quite nice below 700-800m I would say... We liked the small shelter at the top of the mountain where we (and most of the people) had quick lunch break.
Aya M — Google review
Very well-maintained trail and many people climb up the path to the top. I would recommend bringing some bug spray, sunscreen, and water.

It is hard for beginners to climb and descend Daisen, but the viewing is so beautiful.
J L — Google review
Tough hike. About 900m elevation, stairs all the way. Couple of different routes. Infrequent buses from Yonago so get your timing right. I took the 9.30 bus and only just made the 3.20 return if I had missed it would have been a 3 hour wait so probably better to take the earlier bus.
Team F — Google review
It took some time to climb this mountain, but the reward - beautiful view is well worth!
Bohuslav Š — Google review
The highest point in the Chugoku region of Japan. Not very high@ 1710 meters but the elevation change of nearly 1000 meters and very few flat areas makes this climb strenuous. There is a never ending set of stairs/rocks until the view opens up around 1600 meter mark and from there you gradually walk up to the summit on a wooden board (you cannot get off the board as it is a protected area). I did the climb on a dog day summer afternoon and the summit was still crowded. The actual summit (1729 meters) is closed for the regular visitors because it is a very dangerous walk on a very thin ridge barely the width of your shoulders. The more adventurous people take the back side route but I wouldn't advise it and you would be crazy to even think of attempting it alone. (check Youtube for videos) It took me 3 hours to reach the summit but I can do the same route on a cooler day in 2.5 hours. The descent took me 2 hours. Carry lots of water in Summers or get ready to shell out lots of Yens for water at the hut on top. No toilets between the parking lot and summit. If you prefer clean toilets, do your thing in the toilets of the parking lot. Like most mountains in Japan, there were a lot of a over prepared trekkers but I would suggest keeping things as light as possible especially in Summers. I come from a very hot place but even I was surprised by the profuse sweating that I experienced. I would recommend this hike but please get there early because the parking lots near the trail are usually full by 0700AM after which you have to park quite far from the trail (add another 40-50 minutes to the time).
Vinayak B — Google review
Great hike took us just over 2 hours to get to the top took the Natsuyama Trial up and the Motodani Valley trail down. The trail is very steep but well marked. Unfortunately it was quite foggy at the top but the midpoint view and temples in the way down made it very worth it!

Bear Valley Ski Resort, nestled in the picturesque Hiruzen area, is a fantastic destination for winter enthusiasts. Just a quick 5-minute drive from the Hiruzen IC Exit on the Yonago Expressway, it’s easily accessible for those traveling from Kurashiki or Kansai. This family-friendly resort boasts a spacious free area ideal for snowboarding and sledding, making it perfect for all ages to enjoy various snow activities.
We were a family of 6 with young children and elders and this place was perfect! The guys at the rental place are so friendly and helpful to foreigners that don’t speak Japanese! The staff onsite was also very nice! The place is not too crowded which was plus! The kids park was great for my parents and the kids! The food was good and the restaurants weren’t packed. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want a couple days to play with snow. The vibe was really good there and I feel that this was a perfect holiday getaway for us!

I was here to rent some wears. The service was quite good. It was fast and the staff was very kind. I booked in advance the wears I wanted so maybe it is the reason why the service was si fast. Just came, told my name, paid and picked up the wears. There are also some fitting rooms where you can change. If the size you booked doesn't fit, they can change your wear.

(Translated by Google) I think it's a very good ski resort for beginners. The course is wide and, as a beginner, I felt it was a bit steep, but the second half was very gentle and was good practice. There are different types of courses, and it’s long and fun⛄️ The snow quality was good and smooth. Personally, I liked the view from the lift. It feels like I'm passing through the trees. Since I came from Shikoku, it took quite a while on the expressway since it's in the inner part of Okayama, but since it's right after exiting the IC, I think it's easy to access as there's no need to climb a mountain road. Shiogama Cold Spring is a picturesque natural wonder located in Japan, renowned for its crystal-clear spring water that flows at a constant 11 degrees year-round. This cold spring has been recognized as one of Japan's top springs and originates from the foothills of Nakahiruzen, serving as one of the sources of the Asahi River. The surrounding area offers various amenities such as cafes, lodges, campgrounds, parks, and fish hatcheries that make use of its pristine waters.
Cleanest tastiest water I have had in a while!!! You can not drink from the spring but there's fountain by the carpark for you to top up Bottles and a veggie stand with the freshest produce. I got a watermelon and 2 corn.
Shirling A — Google review
Small cold spring (11C year round) - you can see where the water bubbles up from underground. You can't take water directly from the spring but there is a fountain close by where you can fill up bottles. Good parking, food options (restaurant/local veg stand) near. Recently been re-done into an impressive campsite (if a little expensive) with tree-top tents etc.

It's a cute little cold spring. Doesn't really shut at 5pm it's in a campsite so I think it's accessible later. It's just a spring though and it doesn't seem you're allowed to drink direct from it? Idk nice but maybe not worth a special visit!

Kanba Falls, located in Okayama Prefecture, is the largest waterfall in Western Japan and is recognized as one of the top 100 waterfalls in the country. With a 110-meter cliff from which water falls over a 20-meter-wide area, it offers a stunning natural spectacle. The surrounding nature has earned it a place among Japan's 100 Landscapes.
This is a beautiful waterfall worthy of being in Japan's top 20 waterfalls. In the early winter, the different leave colours add a certain vibrancy to the scenery, accentuated by the blue skies. The community of Japanese macaques were out in full force earlier today. Visitors are to exercise caution when traversing the rock steps as they are uneven and can be slippery. Interestingly, Osaka University's Department of Culture & Anthropology has a site facility near there for observation and research.

This is a very pretty place and very easy walking from the car park to the waterfall, which is really impressive. There are many momiji trees there, so I will definitely visit again in autumn. There is also a cave in the rocks near the entrance gate which is worth visiting, although you should be aware that it is quite a steep walk. (Dogs are understandably not allowed given that there are lots of monkeys there 😃).

Katsuyama Preserved Streets in Maniwa City offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese life during the Edo period. Visitors can take leisurely walks along the streets adorned with beautiful noren curtains and old buildings. The town's shopping district features not only shops but also private houses with distinctive noren curtains.

Daigo-Sakura is a remarkable 1,000-year-old cherry blossom tree located on a hill that attracts crowds during its blooming season in April. Despite being just one tree, it captivates visitors with its thick trunk and stunning beauty. Accessible by car with parking and toilets available, the site can get crowded even on weekdays. The uphill walk may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but the breathtaking sight of the fully bloomed sakura makes it worth the visit.
Gorgeous 1000+ year old cherry blossom tree on top of the hill. Is super popular in full bloom, so mind the long traffic queues (over 3 hours at times!) best to go first thing, or they light it up at night too. simply gorgeous.

Another creme of the crop of sakura tree in japan. Ranked in the top 5 of japanese sakura tree. It was awesome and you cant describe how incredible the view is. The tree is huge with a great legend about how emperor daigo came and visited it. Hence the name daigo zakura. Personally I dont really think emperor daigo visited it because of the remoteness of the tree being high up the mountain and there isn't anything else related to emperor daigo historically in the surrounding areas. Nevertheless, legend is made to have a great story to complement the great sakura. Highly recommended though it's really hard to come to this place. Which makes it even nicer since there is less crowds and not too touristy.

Ok, so, I was very happy with this for a few reasons. 1) Its a giant, beautiful cherry blossom tree. 2) Its old and has been in the are for over 100 something years and has been tended to this entire time. 3) The people working at the tree were all very pleasent to talk to and open to answering questions about the tree and surrounding area.

Soba noodle shop
Nestled in the charming Maniwa City of Okayama Prefecture, Isshin-an is a delightful spot for soba enthusiasts. This cozy eatery offers a unique twist on traditional soba, allowing diners to choose between coarsely ground and finely chopped noodles. On my visit, I savored the Shamo zaru soba paired with herring grated yam—a truly exquisite combination! The atmosphere was inviting, with several tables available for guests to enjoy their meals comfortably.
The Okonomiyaki and other dishes were excellent. The ordering is done by a tablet and it is a bit difficult to understand and order. The atmosphere is pleasant and also I liked the fact that they cook the Okonomiyaki and bring it ready instead of just dumping all the raw component and expecting you to cook it.

Next time, I'd like to try some warm duck nanban. ♥️ Thank you for the meal! It was before noon, but there were already people lined up and we waited for about 30 minutes. It was a hot day, so I chose soba with spicy radish. The soba noodles are served in a bowl, topped with grated daikon radish, green onions, and bonito flakes, and the soup is poured over the top. The taste is refreshing and delicious. However, I felt that the soup was a little lacking. After that, the soba soup arrived, so I added some soba soup and it was delicious. There are few seats, so the waiting time is long. Also, payment is only in cash. I ordered Kamo Nanban Soba and my friend ordered Herring Soba. I wanted to eat a little more, so I also tried the dashimaki tamago (with spicy daikon radish) from the soba restaurant. The duck meat was delicious and the green onions were sweet and crunchy ♥️ The soup stock was so delicious that I drank it all lol The herring in the herring soba is also big and looks delicious🤤 The dashimaki tamago was fluffy and delicious with the spicy radish as a nice accent 😋 My body felt so warm. I was planning on getting the non-gen soba, but both the poster and the staff said they recommended the green 100 percent soba. "It's green now!" With these words, I turned it green. ・Green Juwari Soba ・Spicy radish ・Soba gaki Due to my physical condition, I can't eat a lot of carbohydrates, but it was so delicious that I ate a whole serving of soba for the first time! ! I love the scent of soba and the sweet and salty soup♡ First, soba noodles. As for the timing of serving the soba noodles, when the soba brats have finished eating, the staff will tell you that the soba noodles are ready... he asked. On the way, when the general went out to the hall or when he was leaving, he called out to me. It's nice that you can say hello louder than anyone else. I'll visit you again! It was delicious! ! Personally, I would like a larger amount of spicy radish, but the soba noodles are flavorful, firm, and quite large in size, so I'm satisfied. At the end, we were also offered soba-yu (soba-yu). Soba noodle shop
Soba Noodle Matagi is a delightful spot that offers an authentic soba experience. With a cozy atmosphere, it features three tables and serves up delicious options like round or brown buckwheat noodles. Guests can choose between cold zaruka or warm kamaage, with generous portions available for those with hearty appetites. The menu also includes unique items such as soba porridge and crispy soba okaki, all complemented by a rich soup stock that enhances the natural sweetness of the noodles.
(Translated by Google) I've been wanting to go for a while, but I finally got to go. Soba doesn't really fill you up, so as a big eater, I go to places that serve large portions. We arrived at 11:50am on a Saturday, but we were the last group and they were sold out. Isn't that too early...? ? You go inside the store, check in, and then wait outside. When you enter the store, the place is filled with a nice aroma like black tea. The tea they serve gives off that smell. Kuromoji tea is rare! I've seen Kuromoji in ice cream lately, and it smells good. Because we were the last group, the whole soba was sold out. But even without the skin, it still had the aroma of soba, and it was very elegant and the best soba. Not only the soba, but the soup was also of the highest quality. The rich aroma of the seasoning and the rich aroma of the dashi are well balanced. Some famous restaurants have a very strong and salty seasoning, but this place is in between, soft and doesn't ruin the flavor of the soba. However, because it has such a refined taste, I wonder if the green onions and grated daikon radish used as condiments go well with it... The soup is not bad on its own, but when eaten with soba, the flavor is ruined. The soba porridge and deep-fried soba noodles are also fun, making it a very satisfying meal. And... When you add soba soup to the soup and drink it, the shocking aroma of the dashi stock hits you right through. It's rare to find a soup that's this delicious when diluted! It was at that moment that I realized how much dashi the soup must have been, just like the base. If you season this diluted soup in an extremely vulgar way, it tastes like the tsukemen soup at a ramen shop. The deliciousness of the soba and the soup is close to perfection, so I can definitely recommend this restaurant. I hope they continue for a long time. However, I still wouldn't recommend it for people with poor taste (lol) (Original)

(Translated by Google) A soba-loving friend recommended this restaurant, so I decided to check it out. Located just off the street, the exterior immediately captivated me, and I felt a sense of excitement, as if a special occasion was about to begin. Run by a married couple, the restaurant is quiet and calming, and upon entering, it feels as though time is passing at a leisurely pace. The soba noodles I had were robustly flavorful, and the aroma spread the more I chewed. The broth, which complemented them, was exquisitely seasoned, enhancing the flavor of the noodles without overpowering it. I truly felt joy with every bite. Rather than being flashy, the restaurant relies on its ingredients and technique, making it truly a place where you can enjoy "authentic soba." As I was leaving, the owner kindly came out of the kitchen to greet me, and I was able to experience his attentive and warm personality. The pleasant feeling of satisfaction that lingers after the meal is due not only to the flavor of the soba, but also to the couple's hospitality. This is truly a restaurant where "personality is reflected in the soba." This is a soba restaurant that I would definitely like to visit again if I visit Hiruzen, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. Ichifuk is a charming eatery that has become a must-visit spot for travelers heading to Hiruzen. Known for its delicious Hiruzen Yakisoba, this restaurant transforms into a set meal haven during lunchtime, attracting crowds eager to savor its offerings. The yakisoba features thick noodles and a delightful light soy sauce flavor that pairs perfectly with rice. While the ambiance carries an old-world charm, it’s not uncommon to encounter busy periods where certain dishes may sell out quickly.
The restaurant serves yakisoba for lunch and yakiniku for dinner. The "Kashiwa-yaki", which has recently become a regular menu item, was excellent.

(Translated by Google) It's delicious!! However, it was a Sunday afternoon so there was a long wait. I wrote my name on the reservation form inside the store, but there are two-seater chairs inside, and there are chairs outside that can seat about 3 people, but it was hot. There is one, so everyone wait in your car (^_^;) After that, I think most of you went to take a look, but I didn't know what was going on...When I asked the staff, they put the car number next to the name on the reservation table. I wrote it down and when it was my turn, they called me. What about others? (^^;; Yakiniku seems to be reserved only, so for two people we ordered a lamb plate for 900 yen, a small rice bowl for 150 yen, and Hiruzen Yakisoba for 700 yen. Tax included. Even if you order it as soon as you are seated, from there it is as expected. Waiting time outside 😓 I was surprised! I think there were five sets of tables and tatami seating in total. After we were shown to our seats, many customers continued to arrive. Hiruzen Yakisoba is famous, but it seems that there aren't many tourists here on a regular basis, so it seemed like there wasn't enough seating and staff.
