Seafood restaurant
Taverna dei Poeti is a stylish restaurant offering contemporary Tuscan cuisine with international influences and an extensive wine selection. Originally established in 1909 as a simple trattoria, it has since been taken over by Paolo Paolini. The restaurant provides seating for forty guests, including a small intimate room at the back and outdoor tables during the summer months.
Excellent food. Well prepared and wonderful flavors. Many options for seafood, meat and salads. Great wine recommendations. Wonderful dessert. Service was attentive and helpful.
Erin R — Google review
Lovely restaurant in the heart of Capoliveri. As young travellers we were made to feel very welcome despite it being a more expensive/nice restaurant - we asked for a primi each (pasta) and a secondi to share (fish) and the owner very kindly brought us each our own half portion of the fish! No judgement for us not wanting to spend on a secondi each. Great experience, very kind staff and most importantly delicious food (recommend the octopus spaghettini!!!). They also managed to get us a table very last minute which we were very grateful for.
Rosanna H — Google review
Very good food. Great service. Fresh fish realy tasty. Thank you team !
Gabriela S — Google review
One of the best restaurants in the island, Paolo is able to make you feel at home with the service of a 5 stars hotel. The wine selection is excellent and their knowledge about every single bottle is superb. It's a must getting a dinner in this restaurant for foodies of all.the world.
Giorgio N — Google review
The pasta was very nice but the place tries to be fancier than it is
Federico L — Google review
Incredibile experience, food is just amazing, seafood fresh from the sea. Big wine selection proposed by the sommelier, super Service, gentle and friendly. Must try if visiting Capoliveri. 5 stars 🤩

La Botte Gaia

Mentioned on
2 lists
$$$$expensive
Restaurant
La Botte Gaia is a charming restaurant located in Porto Azzurro, just a short drive from Villa Elba. Housed in a 19th-century former church, this establishment offers handmade pasta and seafood dishes served either inside the historic building or at garden tables. Visitors praise the rich variety of raw fish plates and first dishes, as well as the welcoming atmosphere and professional staff.
The restaurant La Botte Gaia has no beach view nor a garden view. It is located in the city and has a kind of huge roofed terrace. The welcoming was a bit posh but it seems to belong to this restaurant as they give it a kind of classy touch. Prices for the dishes are therefore higher as usual. The service at the table was very professional, nice and friendly. The food we have ordered was well prepared and nicely presented. However the presentation of the risotto was a bit strange with the sauce going all around on top. It didn't hit my taste as it was a bit bland. The main courses were however nice and tasty. The restaurant is furthermore pet friendly and we have received a table a bit a part so that we wouldn't disturb anyone although our dog is normally calm and relaxed. All good. In conclusion, the restaurant is not on the seaside but worth visit.
Steve L — Google review
Creative seafood and great service in a laid-back garden setting La Botte Gaia nails it with inventive seafood dishes, fresh local ingredients, and a seriously good raw bar. The spaghetti al riccio is spot on. Service is always on point — we’re regulars and it shows, but the whole place has a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The garden setting adds just the right touch without trying too hard.
Pascal M — Google review
Truly the taste of the sea! Awesome service Awesome wine
Jinfu C — Google review
Good quality, creative recipes. The outside area is extremely warm during hot evenings in summer. Not the best value for money.
Grazia A — Google review
Really nice dishes, and super nice service. Waiters are quick and observant. The food are truly gourmet, and not as all other turist-restaurants in town. Innovative dishes, and really top quality food used for the dishes.
Morten N — Google review
Highly recommended. Very good seafood, perfect service and cool garden terrace. Reservation necessary.
T. V — Google review
A wonderful culinary experience in addition to being a beautiful, romantic place to dine. The seafood variety and creativity was on-point and the service was excellent. There is a larger parking lot nearby - so you don't have to struggle searching for it in Porto Azzurro, because it is an issue - in addition to being close to plenty of other sites.
MB D — Google review
Definitely make a reservation in advance if you want to go here. We were luckily able to make a reservation day of but they only had tables available inside (which was still nice). Food was good, but not exceptional.

Molo G Osteria Portuale

Mentioned on
2 lists

Restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Molo G Osteria Portuale is a versatile bistro located in an old warehouse, resembling a bustling port bazaar. The restaurant reflects the family's expertise in working with bluefish and producing canned goods, especially tuna and palamita. Guests dine on marble tables, following the tradition of Livorno taverns, amidst a fun decor style.
It is a unique place in the middle of the boats, directly in the port next to the water that sustains port life. In a special place is this cozy restaurant where you can eat very well typical Tuscan seafood cuisine. They also have typical meat dishes, but I personally like to eat seafood. I recommend the crispy octopus and the mixed fried Molo G, a specialty that is a perfect dish for seafood lovers! The smoked lemon and rosemary ice cream is spectacular! Enjoy the good service and the extensive wine list!
Francisco M — Google review
Nice located restaurant with great food and great services. My husband and I went here for dinner and we were absolutely satisfied with everything. The food was very good, they even customised me a mocktail, environment is also very pleasant. Would definitely recommend and even come back!
Syazzy S — Google review
One of those hidden gem location! We had fish & seafood facing the sea, boats and mountain in the background! Great atmosphere + food! Highly recommend
Lukas E — Google review
Second time here. Very nice setting and really really good food. Fried alici are fantastic, a must eat. All pastas are perfect and the octopus melts in your mouth. The raw ricciola (my favorite) is a delicacy and desserts are simply amazing. Way to go Molo G!!!!
Germano F — Google review
Crazy entrance that will make you think you’re in the wrong place, or about to dock a ferry, but worth it for a unique experience with delicious food, a fun atmosphere and a delightful wait staff
Tteo G — Google review
A little hard to find but very lovely atmosphere. I’ve never experience such quick service! The staff is very friendly and knows how to handle tricky situations well. Straight to the point food with a local twist!

Excellent food, friendly servers, lovely location and relaxed ambiance. Our four year old enjoyed looking at the ducks and boats. We got a bit confused trying to find it, but that did not detract from the overall enjoyable experience.

Superb traditional Italian food both from sea and land, with more variations on the seafood side. Excellent professional service and stunning view.

3rd time I eat here in 3 years, it is still the best place I have ever eaten in Elba. A personal 10/10, except I haven't tried the desserts, as I don't eat sugar.

Ristorante la Caravella

Mentioned on

Restaurant
Ristorante la Caravella is a long-standing restaurant perched on stilts, offering a unique dining experience over the water. The menu features delectable pasta and seafood dishes, with an emphasis on fresh and delightful fish. While some find the ambience slightly lacking compared to neighboring establishments, the excellent service and interesting menu make it a standout choice. Guests praise the warm hospitality provided by the owners and highly recommend this wonderful seaside dining spot.
The best "frittura" I had in my life: fresh, crunchy and delicate. The cold starter was also delicious and overall the meal was well worth the money. It's a family run restaurant that has a long tradition of cooking local recipes. You can't go wrong. The staff is also very friendly despite the rush hours and the restaurant was full. Definitely going back.
Gianpiero B — Google review
Unfortunately a typical tourist place. We wanted to go elsewhere but could find a good place in Porto Azzuro - make sure you reserve up front. This restaurant arranged the table for us, despite they looked fully booked. A first and last positive unfortunately. The food was below average (especially given the price point), the staff in complete chaos, they brought us 3times the wrong meal we did not order. They charged us 1 bottle of water more than we ordered etc … please look elsewhere is you want a good dinner for this price point.
Norbert B — Google review
For me this was one of the less enjoyable restaurants on the island. The food was not bad, but compared to others it was expensive and the portions were quite small as well. Traditional italian atmosphere was non-existent, the waiters were pretty neutral. Overall not a bad place to dine in, but I think it is a shame to miss out on other, smaller, less industrial restaurants in favor of this one.
Ádám P — Google review
Lovely atmosphere with view on the sea and surrounding green hills. Many birds on the water complete the scene. We went back a second time as we loved the food and service. On both times, although we had different dishes, they were all delicious. Absolutely recommend the pasta allo scoglio and the scarola with pinoli, as well as the vegetables. Good wine, different local wineries. A family run restaurant with history in the area. The service was very good, compliments to all: cook, waiters and management!
Mi F — Google review
Beautiful view at the sea but food was not special. No vegetarian options except for a salad.
Eva W — Google review
Dislike this place. Seafood was not fresh and there were very small portions. Location is very good and the caravelle style is likeable. There are many other good restaurants at this lively town. Try Panorama at The Plasa hotel.

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in a charming Italian town, Osteria Pepenero is the perfect spot for an unforgettable dining experience. With its cozy ambiance and passionate young staff, this restaurant excels in delivering high-quality dishes that showcase fresh ingredients. Guests rave about the unique flavors found in starters like smoked fish and adventurous main courses such as slowly cooked octopus with chickpea sauce. The ten-course menu offers delightful surprises, including tuna tartare paired with foie gras and rich pasta dishes.
It was a really unforgettable experience. The restaurant is located on a picturesque street of the old town, near to the port. It was varied menu. A rich selection of local and other wines. A wonderful combination of flavors and beautiful presentation. Very friendly waiters. It's just ten of ten!!! We will necessary come back here again! Thanks so much for a such wonderful evening!
Nina B — Google review
It was an amazing dining experience. We chose the 7 course seafood tasting menu with wine pairing, paid 120€ each. The food was delicious and loved the attention to detail. We loved the swordfish dish and I was a fan of the Banana bread plantain dessert. Highly recommend, we will definitely come back. Thank you!!
Tanvee P — Google review
Very cozy Restaurant in a typical and quiet italian town scenery. As starter I had smoked fish. Very good and interesting flavors. For main course I enjoyed a slowly cooked Polpo with chickpeas sauce. Excellent! The Dessert was good but disappointing at the same time. On the menu it's described as "Yogurt with almonds and peach". Expected a peach fruit, but get peach sauce with yogurt foam on crushed Almond instead. Should have asked the Waiter what exactly it is, because the menu is a bit misleading. That's why only 4 stars. Expect some good surprises!
Christian B — Google review
A wonderful restaurant for a treat. Incredible flavours and really friendly and knowledgeable staff. We sat outside in the atmospheric street. Perfection
Eric M — Google review
As a vegetarian, this place is a dream! The vegetable tasting menu was so incredible we went back 2 nights later! Great wine selection and super patient and attentive staff. Easily in my top 10 restaurants in the world!
John H — Google review
Superb food and service. Tuna, swordfish, great breads, lots of little extras, delightful field-blend Elba white wine bottled just for the restaurant. A splurge that has real value!
Rick D — Google review
Located in a beautiful street, the setting is rather nice as was the service. But the menu consisting out of vague dishes that even the waiter struggled to explain. For us the food was unnecessary overcomplicated. This Island is full of small eateries that offer the true taste of ingredients for fair prices, this place does neither. Wines by the glass were great tho!
Daan S — Google review
Great service, friendly and attentive staff! Every dish is made from fresh local ingredients and changes daily. Highly recommended

The experience has been great! Definitely recommended Big portions and high quality food. Customer service excellent! A must go in Rio Marina

The best! We can compare this restaurant with similar concept seafood restaurants in Sicilia and Sardegna, and it is one of the best experience! Very good quality with natural tastes and freshness, portions are ample. Atmosphere is very friendly. Seafood antipasti is masterpiece! Even classic pizza quatri fornaggi, chosen by our son, as he does not like seafood was great!
Мочалкин Б — Google review
This was a great little spot for lunch with really delicious food, with warm staff and service. We had 2 antipasti and a primo to share and loved everything we had!

Women ran business - the food, vibes, and service was great! Tucked away around the corner, this place is a gem for pizza, calzones, wine, and fun for friends and families.

Great location and excellent food. The staff is very nice but slow, be patient, is worth it. If you can, better make a reservation because is always packed! Went a few times to have lunch and dinner, always excellent food! And at a very good price! Totally recommend it! Thanks!

Il Rifrullo

Restaurant
Il Rifrullo, located in Portoferraio, the capital of the island, is a popular pizzeria known for its cozy and simple pub-style atmosphere. The eatery is highly regarded for its expertise in crafting the renowned schiaccina elbana, a delicious stuffed focaccia that has become an iconic delicacy on Elba Island.
If you are a tourist, and wants to eat like a local where prices are reasonable and not overpriced like all the other restaurants in town, VISIT Il Rifrullo. I'm sad that we found this place the last day. When other restaurants tried to rob our money because we are tourists, Il Rifrullo treats you like any other. I can strongly recommend this place! Kind staff, good food and really nice vibe!!
Anton — Google review
We ate here twice during our holiday because the food is very good, the staff friendly and prices very honest. The first night I had "gnocco fritto" which was great, my family tried "tagliere" and a local hamburger. The second evening I had a delicious "schiacciata". The house wine is also great. There was a delay during the service and our waiter apologises profusely about it, so it wasn't a big deal. The restaurant is big and understaffed, as it seems very popular. The only minus point is the look, which is tired and dated, but one can easily forget about eating the delicious food.
Dan D — Google review
Food quality is high, service is good but the menus are available only digitally on mobile (using qr codes) and the menu itself if not mobile friendly, and the English translation is bad. Sittine outside next to the grill (the covered area of tables 1-3) grants a constant BBQ smell. It can bother some people)
Daniel L — Google review
Moved me out of the table, after ordering food, I had to seat on table outside after the rain I asked the food very well cooked
Bogdan ( — Google review
Maybe we chose the weirdest combinations of ingredients, but the pizza was just okay. Good crust, but maybe should’ve settled for a classic variants instead of the most advertised in the menu.

Lovely small restaurant with great food in an unassuming setting. We took the 5 course tasting menu and regretted not going for 7 as the dishes were so good. The wine pairing was excellent, with some lesser known wines too. The service was really friendly and the sommelier was happy to chat to me about the wines and indulge my curiosity. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Emma S — Google review
The food is excellent and sophisticated one of the best experiences in Elba. The service is polite and nice. What is only discomfort is the walls around and no air circulation for everybody was hot.
Tamás D — Google review
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere! We will definitely come again ☀️

Incredible food, service and setting. Loved the vegetarian dish so much we ordered it twice. Loved the friendly yet top notch service, the peaceful dinning area in the garden, and the beautiful/artistic presentation of the dishes. Good value for the quality of food and service. My favorite dinning experience in Italy!
Jess — Google review
Amazing setting, ambience, and value tonight for dinner. And great patience with our party that spoke no Italian. My only complaint would be a little more guidance on wines. We are on our first trip to Italy and having trouble learning them here on the island....probably the language barrier which is our fault though. The Foie Gras and Scallop dish is heaven on earth. Highly recommended!
Drew — Google review
Exquisite food, top quality, very friendly staff. A great experience allover! Limited vegetarian options.

The restaurant is just a few minutes by car outside the town of Marina di Campo. The restaurant has its private parking which is very nice. The place is very beautiful with a fountain in the middle of the patio, it has planters all over. It is very clean. The staff is super friendly. They allow dogs. The food is amazing. You need to make a reservation for weekends during the summer time.

What a delightful culinary experience. You will love the scenery as much as the food! 😍 The coffee ravioli with pistachio pesto is to die for!. I cannot state enough how gracious, kind and thoughtful our head-waiter and expert sommelier Daniele was- a delightful person who made this culinary experience even more memorable 💟
Chris.J. G — Google review
We were fairly unlucky, and one of our plates for the first course had dirt and dead ants on it. No biggie, we thought, we'll just show it to the waitress. Unfortunately, instead of apologizing and bringing a new one, she went in the back where we heard the whole kitchen staff theorizing on how we put the dead ants and dirt in it ourselves to get a discount. Then she came back and made a great deal of showing us how she cleaned the plate before handing it to us. At that point, we had lost our appetites, and we didn't feel welcome anymore, so we decided to leave. I have to say it's a shame because the food looked amazing, and the host seemed very competent. He seemed sorry we left, but only apologized halfway, saying the ants could have come from the window (Which I guess it's possible, but that would mean they died as soon as they touched the plate, and it still doesn't explain the dirt. To me, it seems far more likely that the waitress mistakenly took an old plate from the back of a cupboard and didn't realize it was dirty). We weren't asked to pay as we didn't get to taste any food and only had a sip of the wine. The food seemed delicious, and the view looked amazing. Maybe you'll have better luck, but we aren't planning on going back.

Transportation in Elba Island

Getting around Elba Island can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Pisa International Airport

International airport
Airport
Pisa International Airport, also known as Galileo Galilei, is conveniently connected to central Pisa via a new train link. The airport provides easy access to the city's attractions such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Baptistery, Cathedral, and medieval old town. Visitors can explore the vibrant cafe and bar scene in the city center surrounded by well-maintained Romanesque buildings, Gothic churches, and Renaissance piazzas.
Our flight was early in the morning so it was quite easy and fast to reach to the airport and pass the security line. The staff was also kind in general.
Yasemin K — Google review
It’s very small, and since we came during the off-season, there weren’t many people. However, the security staff were extremely rude, aggressively throwing our backpacks onto the conveyor belt. The most ridiculous part is that, while most airports require bags to be placed in trays, this one doesn’t—simply because the security conveyor belt is too small, too short, too narrow, and not even automatic, making it impossible to fit trays. Yet, the staff still rudely tossed our bags aside. It was truly awful.
Vienna — Google review
Way too small to handle the amount of traffic/passengers - the gates have space for 50 people to sit...Which is maybe not enough as modern planes carry around 200 passengers, absolutely not family friendly - especially the staff, and the service is a catastrophe. One of, if not the worst airport I have ever been to.
Philipp N — Google review
Way to small for the ambitious amount of passengers they want to process. The hallway is a complete chaos. Only a selected amount of passengers per flight are allowed in the security check zone. Everyone is packed in front of the security gates, so even if you are allowed it is very hard to come through. The airport personell is not aware of which passengers are allowed through the security gates, so lots of them are to late resulting in even more delays. Today's flight to Amsterdam was delayed for two hours mostly because the procedures at the airport.
Mark E — Google review
This place is way too small for the footfall passing through. It's pack-jammed with people spread everywhere over the floor. The toilets are few and they are not sanitary - The smell is really bad. The gates are small and packed together. Probably the worst airport I've been to.
Phil B — Google review
It's the worst airport in Europe. There are not enough seats.. All the time delays. It's always a mess there. It's too small place for so many people..not organized good at all. Shameful. You can't understand what they are pronouncing in the speakers. The toilets are always a disaster.. no paper, not cleaned, smelling awful. Very bad opinion about that airport. They should invest more. It is better to choose another airport for sure.
Lina Z — Google review
Possibly the worst airport ever. Not big enough, not enough toilets. The toilets available barely work and are filthy because of the amount of people needing them. Some of the staff are super moody. Not enough seating, cafes or anything. Super hot and stuffy. Glad to be out of there - finally!
Jasmine R — Google review
Should not have so many flights going out from here. It’s far too busy, there’s no seats, no working charger points, patchy WiFi, not enough restaurants and cafes to accommodate people. The video below shows the majority of the airport after security, there is stairs leading to another security checkpoint and there’s people seated all up and down the stairs as there is no where else to sit
