Toll road rest stop
Rest stop
The rest area located on the toll road known as Sano SA (Outbound) offers a selection of specialty dishes such as ramen, gyoza, and lemon milk ice cream. This roadside stop serves unique local cuisine to travelers and passersby. Patrons can enjoy the diverse food options available while taking a break from their journey on this highway.
We stopped by here on the way to Nikko from Tokyo. This is probably the nicest highway rest area that I have ever seen. The toilet is very clean, rows of vending machines, a proper sit down dining area. There is also a big area for shopping. They give you free cold and hot water and green tea. There is also a Starbucks for the fans. A side park for you to feel the outside air and an area for dogs.

Nice stop! Toilets are clean We are on the way to NIKO city Food is great BUT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE TAKE AWAY! Must it in. So when you plan to tante away, then before you order meals from the machine, make sure you ask first if they can provide a box/plastic to take away The shop as usually in Japan .. a lot of snacks for souvenirs .. this one has less souvenirs .. but i got a cute tiger shark They also have play ground for kids. Nice!

We stopped at Sano Service Area on our way to Yamagata and were pleasantly surprised by how well-equipped and spacious it is. The facilities are clean and thoughtfully designed to cater to travelers’ needs. The restrooms are spotless and well-maintained, which is always appreciated during long road trips. There’s also a small park and a designated dog park, making it an ideal stop for families with kids or pets who need a quick break to stretch their legs. For food and drinks, the options are great! There’s a restaurant offering a variety of meals, a Starbucks for coffee lovers, and plenty of vending machines with snacks and drinks for those on the go. The overall layout is spacious, making it easy to park and navigate even during busy times. This service area offers a comfortable and convenient place to recharge before hitting the road again. We would definitely stop here again on future trips. Highly recommended!

I have not used this hotel in several years. The building has been renovated both inside and out. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and open, making it a comfortable place to spend time. I used the food court and did not feel that the prices of ramen and other menu items were overpriced for a service area. Incidentally, I used to work for a company that operated another service area. As you can see in the photo, I had Sano Ramen. The quality of the ramen is one of the best 3 I have ever had in a service area👍. 1) The slightly chewy flat noodles 2) Its quantity (3) Good combination with the soup (4) The bowl is also stylish. The bowl is also stylish. Please maintain that quality and brush it up sometime. If you do so, I think you will gain even more fans. I don't know when it will be. I will have ramen the next time I use your restaurant 🙇.

Good stop on the highway. A lot parking spaces. Completed with needed facilities - toilets, foodcourt, souvinir shops, lots of vending machines.
Ronrapee L — Google review
If only all the rest stops in the world were like this one. It has a large and very clean restroom, a food court, souvenir shop and basic snacks and grocery store. It also has a Starbucks, a dog run with separated zones for large and small dogs and an open space for kids to run around in. Plenty of parking spaces as well. We were on our way to Nikko and were pleasantly surprised by such a nice rest stop.
Anissa W — Google review
They renovated the entire area that we thought would look like the Edo-style rest stop we saw in the reviews. But there was no sign saying it was under renovation. So we ended up stopping just to use the toilet — there were no restaurants like the photos on Google. There was only a small shop selling some items and a few vending machines. They really should have put up a sign to let people know that the buildings were being renovated. However, if you walk down to the lower area, there’s another rest stop with shops and restaurants. But there are very few dining tables, so it’s not really suitable for busy holiday periods. That said, I have to admit — the restrooms everywhere were very clean. But
PenRich J — Google review
It is under renovation when we park. That’s why there’s only 1 ramen shop, a little souvenir shop and a convinient store. Toilets are clean.

Buddhist temple
Place of worship
Soshuji is a highly esteemed Buddhist temple in Japan, albeit smaller than other temples in the country. A red pavilion houses a golden bell and serves as a site for praying for good fortune. Many people visit this temple to ward off misfortune and participate in special prayers that involve fire and chanting scriptures. One such prayer costs 5000 JPY and can be done with around 20-25 people facing the deity and priest.
Highly revered Buddhist temple, although not a very big one as compared to many others in Japan. People visit here to ward off misfortune, especially every New Year’s Day for Hatsumode, the first prayer of the New year. They also conduct special prayers for people, along with fire and Chanting scriptures, almost felt like being in an Indian Temple. We paid 5000 JPY for the special prayer, done for around 20-25 people together who sat facing the deity and priest while prayer was performed. It was a nice experience to get a prayer done for your well being in a Japanese Buddhist Temple. In India this is a regular affair. But it was special here! Hoping to get some good Luck ;)

(Translated by Google) October 18, 2025 I visited for the first time. It's very famous and I often hear the name in commercials, so I imagined it would be similar to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. However, it was small and sparsely populated. There's free parking everywhere in the area, so I wonder if they'll be able to handle the crowds around New Year's. I was surprised at how convenient it is that there are basically no fees. In addition to the main hall, other highlights include the 370-year-old mountain gate, the tomb of Shozo Tanaka, and the golden bell. There was also a Kannon statue that had been stolen and returned; I remember hearing about it on the news at the time. I don't often visit temples or shrines, but recently, they've started selling fortune slips, amulets, and votive plaques from vending machines. I think this is a good thing, as it reduces the burden on people.

An excellent place for branded item shopping at affordable prices. Drive from Tokyo is also very convenient relative to Gotemba premium outlet mall due to less traffic towards Sano. All these premium outlet malls are managed by MitsubishiJisho and if hold a MitsubishiJisho’s credit card then you can avail additional 5% off. Please make sure you have the premium outlet malls app installed on your mobile and you can find some additional discount offers on the app. This mall has got 6 big parking lots and hence you can easily get parking without much wait. Also this mall has got good food/restaurants choices … including Starbucks coffee etc.,

3.5 stars They had many instagrammable photo areas and for some reason another photo theme was Winnie the Pooh and they had many areas set up for photos. As with all premium outlets in Japan it's nothing compared to prices of outlets in North America. It's a lot smaller than the outlet in Gotemba or Karuizawa... But it's much more accessible because it's not too big and it's far less crowded which makes it all more pleasant. I think outlet malls are a little bit cheaper this year maybe due to Corona and sluggish moving inventory. Most shops had additional 20 to 30% on top of the already reduced prices. On a hot summer day it's really not recommended because there's not much refuge from the humidity and heat. It's a very dog friendly place and many owners had brought their pets. The cosmetics shop was really crowded! Lots of discounted Clinique items. MAC eyeshadows that go for over 3000yen retail outside were selling for about 1000yen. A must stop for cosmetics-lovers.

Fast food restaurant
This modern fast-food joint with Hawaiian flair offers a variety of options including burgers, sandwiches, and salads. One unique offering is Crazy Crepes, which sells crepes made solely from eggs and milk without any water added. KUA`AINA, a hamburger shop hailing from the North Shore town in Oahu Island, is also available.
Kua A'ina is one of the only places I can get a turkey sandwich in Japan. Their kaiser rolls are really good. I wish I could buy them to take home. Prices are a bit high and seem to be going up. If you don't want to stand in line, make sure you go at an off-peak time or a weekday.

Ramen restaurant
Sano Ramen Shinzan is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Sano ramen. The broth features a light soy sauce that offers a subtly sweet flavor, making it so enjoyable that you might find yourself sipping the soup straight from the bowl! The char siu is tender and flavorful, with an enticing aroma that enhances your dining experience. Their curly noodles come in varying thicknesses; while they may be slightly soft after boiling, they still deliver on taste.

(Translated by Google) ⚫︎Wednesday, January 1, 2025 Around 13:00, 2 groups in line I came to Gunma and Tochigi on New Year's Day, so I was looking for Sano Ramen, but I was wondering if any restaurants were open. That's what I thought, but there are shops open near the Sano Yakuyoke Shrine, right? I set my sights on it, and there it was! ! The taste is typical Sano ramen and delicious! It's a little light, but the soy sauce and dashi (probably vegetables) have a slight sweetness that makes it delicious. It might not be enough for people who like strong flavors, but I thought it was delicious! ! (Translated by Google) It was a delicious Sano ramen with a refreshing soy sauce. The char siu is perfectly soft, the fat is delicious, and it has a great aroma. I think my favorite is the horohoro chashu. The noodles were curly and varied in thickness, and were a little soft after being boiled, but they were still delicious. The eggs were boiled with no seasoning. This is normal. The sweet sauce of the char siu rice bowl went well with the char siu, and the texture of the char siu was also good. There is ample parking, and the store has a good atmosphere and cleanliness, but the service is negative. Perhaps because of the food tickets, the management of visitors and customers leaving the store was poor, resulting in a number of cases of idle play. The delivery time was also difficult, so I felt that the rotation was slow. Even though it tastes good and there are a lot of staff, it's a waste. (Translated by Google) I was hesitant to enter because of the building's distinctive appearance, but I decided to visit for lunch for the first time. ◾︎Overall Review I'm satisfied. If you're looking for a little luxury, I recommend this place. The service was also very polite. ◾︎Interior The building itself feels quite old. The reception and cash register are on the first floor, and the dining area is on the second floor. There is no elevator, so if that's a concern, you may want to be careful. The dining area has two configurations: a sunken kotatsu table and a table. It seems the sunken kotatsu can be used by groups by pushing down the sliding door. ◾︎Menu Lunch menu items are generally over 1,500 yen. Hamburg steak dishes are in the 1,500 yen range, but steaks can exceed 2,500 yen. Both the hamburg steak and steak were delicious. The set menu also comes with pork miso soup, which is also delicious. I hope you enjoy the pork miso soup. ◾︎Customer service was kind and polite.

When I went to Tokyo for college, I learned about their flagship store in Akihabara's Manseibashi Bridge, and about the delicious pork cutlet noodles they serve. I've been out of touch with Steak Mansei ever since I moved back to Gunma for work. I'm willing to travel all the way to Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, just to visit the nearest store. ・ The store suddenly appears just past Sano Interchange, its Mansei lanterns and vermilion-lacquered interior truly awe-inspiring. Perhaps because it's built on a slope, the entrance is on the first floor, with seating on the second. ・ I resisted the urge to order steak and ordered a hamburger and Neapolitan set. I'm grateful they offer a great lunch deal even on Saturdays. ・ After a while, the hot plate was served, covered in sauce. Instead of pouring it on yourself, they pour it on themselves. As I barely cut the hamburger steak, which was hazy with steaming sauce, and put it in my mouth, the aroma of high-quality beef filled my nose, and the juicy flavor followed me with each bite. This is the authentic hamburger steak from a long-established chain restaurant. The Neapolitan was sweetly seasoned, reminiscent of the good old days. Grated cheese and Tabasco sauce were also provided, so you could enjoy it in any way you like. Eat the hamburger steak by itself, or with the Neapolitan. If I had known, I would have enjoyed it to the fullest from the main menu. Looking around, I saw surprisingly many customers enjoying shabu-shabu and sukiyaki, which aren't available at lunch. Please write your name and wait," so I wrote my name and waited, but there was no sign of anyone calling me. I called out to a staff member who was always looking down and behind me, and he finally showed me in. The restaurant was fairly empty. I don't know. When I sat down, there was no lunch menu even though it was lunchtime, but when I asked the staff member, he brought it to me. Other tables were told the same thing, so I guess that's the system? Udon noodle restaurant
If you find yourself in Sano, make sure to stop by Marugame Seimen Sano for a delightful udon experience. For around 500 yen, you can indulge in a generous bowl of thick udon noodles, customizable with various soup options and toppings like egg or tempura. The restaurant has an open canteen-style layout that fosters a lively atmosphere, perfect for enjoying your meal at one of the communal tables.
One of best Udon noodles restaurant in Sano, it is part of Marugame Seimen restaurant chain… high recommended if you are in Japan… they have vegetarian options as well.

For about 500 yen, you get a big bowl of udon (thick spaghetti). You can choose the soup type, no soup, with or without egg, and a few different options. Then you can buy additional fried stuff (vegetables, shrimp, etc.). It's a kind of canteen, with the kitchen in the middle and tables around, no inner walls. Portions are big, food is good and prices are alright, all the reasons to go for it when you are looking for a lunch nearby. The interior design is based on wood, and you can freely sit at a western-style table or traditional Japanese table.

It was lunchtime, so there were many lively and energetic staff, which made me feel good Unlike other stores, this store had a counter outside where you could buy takeaway bento and noodles without going inside. Matatsuto 🚻The toilet wasn't very clean, so it was better to go before eating The layout of the store was quite spacious, with many tables, and the tatami room was also spacious *Maybe because of poor ventilation, even though I only stayed there for about 20 minutes, my body and hair smelled of oil, and the smell didn't go away for a while in the car... (Translated by Google) I wouldn't say the atmosphere is very good. If you go 1-2 hours before closing time, there are very few condiments and tempura, and the chairs and tables inside the restaurant are in a mess. Even if you go outside of lunchtime, the service is not very good and there is a lack of enthusiasm. The condiments were only replenished a while after they were empty, so it seems like this restaurant should keep a closer eye on the areas outside the counter. The dishes being washed in the kitchen often made a lot of noise, and it was far from a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, I felt there was a lack of customer-oriented hospitality. Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Ashikaga Flower Park and Ashikaga Gakkō (Former Academy) and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 8 hours.

Nestled approximately 74 kilometers north of Tokyo, Ashikaga Flower Park is a renowned 23-acre floral paradise that first opened its doors in 1968. The park boasts an impressive collection of seasonal thematic displays, including the famous 150-year-old wisteria tree designated as a national monument.
My wife and I visited at the beginning of April, at the peak of cherry blossom season. We knew full well that we were effectively visiting out of season for the park, so our expectations were measured but it was fantastic. They did a great job of making up for the lack of wisteria with beautiful, vibrant displays of pansies and tulips. It's definitely worth visiting at this time of year. We will be sure to return for the wisteria at some point though, because just looking at all the bare wisteria trees tells you how amazing it would be. There are a selection of restaurants on site, including a diner style option (where you can get wisteria flavoured ice cream - quite subtle, not overly floral) and more "sit down" style ones that serve things like Japanese curry. Toilets are plentiful and the whole park appears to be wheelchair accessible. There's also a decent amount of parking available, though I imagine it struggles during wisteria season. Another highlight is the gift shop(s). There are a wide array of different souvenirs available, including Tochigi specialties. You can also buy flowers there, though you should note that the flower shop and souvenir shop are separate and have different registers. The staff, as you'd expect in Japan, are excellent. Very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Ashikaga Flower Park is sublime and I didn’t even visit during wisteria season. I only saw the main wisteria tree in its barren form, but due to its great size and outstretched vines, I just know it is an amazing sight when it is in full bloom. Even without wisteria, the other flower arrangements are gorgeous. I got to try wisteria ice cream, which was such a pretty purple. The taste was rather mild, but unique. I loved the gift shop. So much purple! It was a sight for sore eyes for a purple fiend like myself. There were so many different types of omiyage—many non-purple products, too—that I probably spent as much time browsing in the shop as I did the flower park. I had a great time and would absolutely love to visit again when the wisteria bloom.

“Ashikaga Flower Park" is truly breathtaking, especially during wisteria season. The藤の花 create magical tunnels of purple, white, and pink, glowing beautifully at night when illuminated. The park is well-organized, with clear paths and plenty of spots to take photos. It’s easy to access from the nearby station, making it a convenient day trip. While it can get crowded during peak bloom, the stunning藤の花 displays are absolutely worth it. A must-visit for flower lovers. Especially nowadays, this place might seem as a model for "Demon slayer 鬼滅の刃", so thanks to t, it attracts more visitors than before.

Ashikaga Flower Park – Where Nature Paints Its Own Fairytale Just a short train ride from Tokyo, Ashikaga Flower Park is truly a dreamland for anyone who loves flowers, colors, and a touch of magic. I finally got to visit this iconic spot in Tochigi Prefecture — and honestly, it’s every bit as breathtaking as the photos! The highlight of the park is, of course, the wisteria (fuji). Imagine walking under endless tunnels of soft purple, pink, and white blossoms gently swaying in the breeze. The air is perfumed, the light filters through the petals like watercolor, and everything feels otherworldly. The park’s 150-year-old Great Wisteria Tree is the real showstopper — its canopy of flowers looks like a purple waterfall cascading from above. Even beyond wisteria season, Ashikaga blooms beautifully year-round with tulips, roses, hydrangeas, and azaleas, so there’s always something to admire. If you can, stay until evening — the night illumination is stunning! The entire park glows with millions of lights reflecting off the ponds, making it feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale garden. A few tips: check the bloom calendar before you go, as timing makes all the difference. The best period for wisteria is usually mid-April to mid-May. Go early in the morning or on a weekday to avoid crowds, and definitely try the wisteria-flavored ice cream — it’s as pretty as it tastes! Ashikaga Flower Park isn’t just a garden — it’s a full-senses experience that leaves you in awe of nature’s beauty. If Japan is on your travel list, add this to your itinerary. Trust me, it’s worth every step.

October 25,2025 -5pm One-time entry only Pretty small park, but attractions are left and right, so it's not really boring, especially at night illumination. You enter thru the shops There's a photography souvenir for free with a tiny photo and you can buy the big photo for 1500 yen, it has the ashikaga design photo card which is really nice not just plain photo print Autumn roses were beautiful. Blooming lotus and cosmos. By the wisteria illumination, it is very fragrant. I'm not sure if they used a wisteria diffuser or its a different scent by other plant. It smells so good. Worth the visit

Despite the unimaginable crowds, Ashikaga Flower Park is still definitely worth a visit. You should stay at least half a day, appreciating the enormous wisteria trellises as long as possible. This place is truly unlike any other, and besides the magnificent wisteria, you can enjoy a whole lot of other nice flower arrangements. There are snacks and food everywhere, but beware of long lines. In addition, there are stalls to buy potted flowers, so bring a bag if you want one.

Ashikaga Gakkō, also known as the Ashikaga School, is a historic and picturesque site in Japan. It holds the distinction of being the country's oldest school, with its remains designated as a national historic site. The school was restored in the Muromachi period and thrived for many years with up to 3000 students. Notably, it was visited by Jesuit missionary Francis Xavier in 1549 who praised it as the largest and most famous school in Japan.
I’ve got to admit that this buildings site, which had been the nationally highest educational institution in Japanese academia such as Confucian ethics and Kokugaku from medieval for a long time, is not that entertaining or many things fun to watch, but is pretty elegant and very educational sightseeing spot you should visit at least once. I admire the local people who have cherished and been making great efforts to preserve not only solemn buildings and beautiful trees, but also the spirit and significance of the school’s existence. I humbly sense that that is still making this place well worth visiting.

An ancient school that has been changed into a museum. Worth the ¥420 for a ticket. The garden is quite a nice view. You also get to go inside the buildings and most of the signs have an English translation. Sadly the library doesn't come with English translations for the signs and it's not allowed to use a smartphone inside to translate them yourself.

Banna-ji Temple is an ancient temple known for its large ginkgo tree with golden leaves in the fall. It was originally built as a Buddhist worshipping hall within the residence property of the Gensei Ashikaga Clan in 1196 and later expanded by the third generation, Yoshiuji. Surrounded by earthen walls and a moat, the temple retains the atmosphere of an old samurai residence from the Kamakura Period.
Gorgeous Garden, heavenly in fact, I loved being in this space and felt very calm and peaceful being here. Stayed right across the road for 2 nights and came to Ashikaga as my wife was keen to see the Wisteria Festival at the Flower Park. I personally loved the temple garden, the koi, the colours and the tranquility. It’s a very humbling place. It’s Free to enter too.

We came here to Banna-ji today and it was a fulfilling experience. The place gives off very ancient but peaceful vibes. If you just want to stroll, pray, and just relax, this place is perfect. Just listening to the peaceful fluttering of the birds and the crow is so interesting. They also have a pond where there's a ton of kois. I really recommend this place because you can really smell the woods. And by just looking at the trees, I feel like I'm in a different world. My review is kind of poetic but you will know once you go there. The people were also friendly. We ask where we could park at the Syumai Store and they were really happy to assist us. When we go back here. I will definitely try their syumai. Overall, aside from being hot, it is recommended to go here in Autumn because of the Ginko tree.

A Serene and Enlightening Experience Visiting the bannaji was a truly peaceful and enlightening experience. The temple grounds are beautifully maintained, with stunning architecture and serene gardens that invite reflection and tranquility. The intricate details of the statues and the overall ambiance create a perfect setting for meditation and spiritual growth. The monks were incredibly welcoming and offered insightful explanations about the temple’s history and Buddhist practices. Participating in the meditation session was a highlight, providing a deep sense of calm and mindfulness. Whether you’re seeking spiritual enrichment or simply a quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, bannaji is a must-visit. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring Buddhist culture and finding inner peace. Feel free to customize it with specific details about the temple you visited! 😊

This is definitely the place for you if you want to enjoy a piece of quiet. The place itself is really inspiring. With the ancient decoration and architectural style, you will feel like you just walk into another world. You entered exhausted and troubled, and you come out refreshed and spirit-lifted. The only thing is the location is totally 'out-of-reach' for normal travelers. Otherwise: totally recommended!!

Bannaji Temple is a 4 hectare (10 acre) site that began life as the home of Yoshiyasu Ashikaga (1127-1157 A.D.), the founder of the Ashikaga clan, in the mid-12th century, the Muromachi era of Japanese history. These warrior roots are still evident today in its walled, moated, four-gated layout--a rarity for temples in Japan. A few decades later, in 1196, his son, Yoshikane (posthumous Buddhist name, Banna) seeking divine protection built a temple here dedicated to the Vairocana Buddha, which in 1234 became full-fledged temple housing priests, and the official temple of the Ashikagas. It has a huge six-century old gingko tree.

Izuruhara Benten Pond is a picturesque freshwater spring known for its vibrant autumn foliage and abundant koi fish. Located in Sano City, Tochigi, this hidden gem offers transparent waters that allow clear views of the pond's inhabitants. Designated as one of Japan's top 100 waters by the Ministry of the Environment, it boasts a tranquil atmosphere and a traditional shrine dedicated to Benten. As the reviews suggest, the lake water was exquisitely clear. It was glistening in the sunlight, and the glorious autumn leaves topped it all off. Definitely worth a trip. There is a small car parking space that accommodates 5 cars only, but if you look carefully, there is another carpark that is larger and accommodates around 10 cars.

This is a very local attraction. You hardly get international tourists here, which is the biggest selling point, especially if you don’t want to jostle and elbow with the crowd at Oshino Hakkai in Kawaguchiko.

I do prefer this because other than the quiet that is befitting such a sacred space, I found the flora and foliage around the pond and their reflection to be absolutely calming.

It’s very hard to say the same about Oshino Hakkai, which is becoming more like a tourist trap with busloads being dropped off.

That said, it’s also because of how hidden the location that there is not much to do.

There’s a public bath (onsen) across the road and a cafe to the side. Public toilet is available.

There’s a Shinto Shrine and a Buddhist temple as well. The former does look slightly neglected, while the temple is a short climb to to top, offering a decent vantage point of the neighbourhood.

This beautiful and well-maintained orchard in Sano, Japan, is known for growing exquisite Tochiotome strawberries. The farm offers strawberry picking sessions from December to February between 10:00-15:00 and from March to May between 09:30-16:00. These sweet and juicy strawberries are truly irresistible and highly recommended. Additionally, the farm also sells unique plants.
we took a bus and walked for about 15 minutes from the bus stop (passed by nice houses and the highway) but it was all worth it because the strawberries were so good and sweet! spent 30 minutes just eating approximately 1kg of strawberries 😅 there's also a co-op where we bought two bags of strawberries ❤️🍓

We went for the tochiaika strawberry tasting. They were sweet. We tried the milk berries too, and they really had a subtle but distinct milk flavour. A little pricey for 30 mins of strawberry picking, but you’d be so full even before the 30 mins. If you just want to try the berries, I would suggest buying the different packets of strawberries, rather than pay for the experience to pick strawberries.

Japanese curry restaurant
CoCo Ichibanya is a beloved spot for curry enthusiasts, especially during weekday lunch hours when the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. Many patrons appreciate the delicious food served with a smile from friendly staff members. While some past reviews have mentioned less-than-stellar service on weekends, those who visit during weekdays often find the employees to be attentive and cheerful.
(Translated by Google) I went to CoCo Ichi for the first time in a long time. There is a drive-thru, but I decided to eat inside... Just like in the past, the restaurant had Fukujinzuke, a spicy spice. There was also a sweet sauce for the sweet side. I thought there would be a wait, as there were two staff working in the hall and drive-through as well as cooking, but the freshly made curry arrived right away. I felt the taste was bland, so I ate it while trying to disguise it with Fukujinzuke. Therefore, the taste is minus 2 stars. However, I think the other responses were good. So far ★3 2022.03 added It's been a long time since I last heard from you again. There were a lot of staff today: 2 to 3 cooking staff, 1 staff in charge of the drive-through, 1 delivery staff, and 2 staff in the hall, and the store was fairly crowded, even with several drive-through cars waiting. Food was served immediately. Also, the staff are very responsive and cheerful, and I can already feel the curry delicious even before I eat it. The taste was not too weak like last time, it was just right and delicious. I would like to visit you again. HINATAYA is a popular spot that tends to get crowded, especially during peak times. Visitors often arrive well before opening to secure a spot in line and may have to wait for their turn even after 14:00 on weekdays. The parking lots fill up quickly, leading to waits of around 15 minutes just to enter the shop. Despite the wait, the interior is described as beautiful and welcoming, with women feeling particularly comfortable.

After the restaurant opened at 11:00, we were ushered in order and were seated without having to wait on the first round. Soon after, I ordered two servings of Wakame Ramen, Char Siu Ramen, and Gyoza. The noodles, soup, char siu, and gyoza were all delicious. The noodles were a mix of Sano Ramen's thin, chewy noodles with a smooth texture and flat noodles that appeared to be offcuts. The texture and smoothness were excellent. The clear soy sauce soup was impressive with its rich flavor from the first sip. The thinly sliced pork belly? The pork was tender and not too heavy, with great flavor. The gyoza had a punch of garlic, the vegetables were crunchy, and the skin was chewy. The staff were cheerful, energetic, and efficient. I finished eating and left just after 11:30. I was very satisfied. There are only a few seats and there's only one cook, so it's best to allow yourself plenty of time. I ordered ramen and five gyoza. The soup was clear but salty. The noodles were hand-made, so they were a little soft and flaky. The pork slices themselves didn't have much flavor, but they were soft and delicious. The gyoza skin was thick and chewy, and there was a lot of cabbage, which made it crunchy and had a simple flavor. It wasn't seasoned very well, so it's better to eat it with some condiments. Nestled in the charming city of Ashikaga, the Ashikaga Orihime-jinja Shrine stands out with its striking scarlet color and hilltop location. This Shinto shrine is a popular spot for couples and is particularly enchanting when illuminated at night. The shrine holds historical significance as it overlooks the city and is linked to Ashikaga's past as a center of silk weaving.
You have to climb 229 stairs to get to the top, but it’s worth it! I would say it’s not that hard, but the slope angle of the stairs is pretty steep. The view from the top is nice, of course, but you can also enjoy colorful Torii Gates (7 different colors), and each color has meaning. If you want to have a little different Jinjya (=shrine) experience, it’s a must place to visit :)

The place is really pretty. There aren't many people even though it is Marine Day today. The Shrine gives off a peaceful part even though going there is more of a blessing for marriage. We went here not even knowing it so we are kinda embarrassed looking at a couple going here but it was okay since we also see kids. They also have a heart padlock here that you can also do if you and your partner wants to. The scenery is really great and I really like the sounds of the crickets. It gives off anime vibes when going to the Shrine. Overall, if my boyfriend is going here in Ashikaga, we will definitely go here.

The shrine houses the revered guardian god of Ashikaga textile industry and has a history and tradition of 1,300 years. It is widely known to the people of Ashikaga as the God of industrial reconstruction and marriage. Recently the shrine has been recognized as a heritage of night scenery due to the beautiful night view from the shrine of Ashikaga city as well as a sacred place for lovers. The vermilion of the shrine harmonized with the green background is beautiful and from the grounds you can overlook the Kanto Plain. It is also the starting point for a Prefectural Nature Hiking Trail. Please do come and have a The largest Shinto shrine in Ashikaga – Orihime Shrine – was originally built in 1704 but burned down in 1880. In 1937 the shrine was relocated and rebuilt on Mount Orihime right next to Orihime Park. Both the mountain, the park, and the shrine are named after the Shinto diety Orihime, who plays an important role in the origin story of Tanabata: a festival celebrated each summer in Japan. Orihime was the daughter of the Sky King, Tentei, and used to weave clothes for him by the heavenly river, the Milky Way, when one day she met a herdsman called Hikoboshi who worked at the other site of the waters. The two fell in love and got married, but after the wedding they both neglected their work, so Tentei separated them and forbade them to see each other – except on the 7th day of the 7th month, which is now the date of Tanabata. The city of Ashikaga has a long history of weaving and therefore Orihime Shrine was built and dedicated to Orihime. Because of the tale about Orihime and Hikoboshi, the Orihime Shrine is also a place that celebrates marriage and thus it is considered a sacred place for lovers. For this reason, many couples pay the shrine a visit to pray for their relationship. In order to get to the shrine grounds, you have to climb some hundred stairs accompanied by dozens of lanterns, but it is worth the effort since you not only have a fantastic view of Ashikaga City from the top; Orihime Shrine itself is also breathtaking as it greets your vision with its vermillion painted buildings. The lack of traffic noise makes it possible for you to enjoy the spiritual atmosphere that characterizes this holy place, and if you visit the shrine in the late evening you will even get to see it stand out in the dark when the buildings are lit up. GETTING THERE The foot of Mount Orihime is about 2 kilometers from Ashikaga station. On your way you may pass buy Ashikaga Gakko and Bannaji Temple.

A short stop will do, especially if you’re an international tourist. Shrines and temples are pretty much the same unless you’re a history or mythology buff. Highlights here would the rainbow tori gates but it’s a pity you can’t take a shot of them all at once. At the bottom of the stairs (through the rainbow tori gates) is a metal box that plays music. The night illumination is supposed to be good but it was difficult to fit it into the schedule.

Visiting here after a visit to the museum makes you wonder if various animals, and perhaps even Jomon people, once inhabited this cave. (Currently, there is no concrete information that Utsuno Cave itself was used as a Jomon period archaeological site, according to Gemini.) Parking is available. Admission is free. The interior of the cave is well-maintained and well-lit. The footing is paved. Some areas require crouching. There are no permanent staff on-site. This horizontal cave, approximately 100 meters long, developed in limestone strata formed approximately 250 million years ago. Inside, you can see stalactites and stalagmites, formed over the course of eons by groundwater, and experience a mystical world. The temperature inside the cave remains roughly constant at around 15°C throughout the year, making it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It has been a place of worship since ancient times and is also the 32nd temple of the Sano Bando Pilgrimage. Nestled in the serene hills, Manganji Temple is a captivating Buddhist shrine that dates back to 765. Known for its stunning Senju Kannon statue, this tranquil spot offers visitors a peaceful retreat surrounded by lush forests, caves, and even a picturesque waterfall. The temple grounds are perfect for leisurely strolls and exploration, with an impressive main hall leading to the Okunoin/Limestone Cave. On weekdays in March, you can enjoy the quiet ambiance as few visitors wander through its paths.
A gorgeous area, with an easy hike. It was peaceful and quiet when we went. There were even wisteria blooming. A great place to be in nature.

The temple area is nice and there is a VERY rocky path up to a cave with one large and interestingly shaped stalactite. Outer building are literally falling apart and I got the feeling that this place is not visited often. The drive up to the temple is pretty terrible because the road is taken over by a rock quarry/mining company. It's terrible, dusty, used by large trucks, and ugly. It was not worth the drive unless you enjoy feeling sorry for an under-used, unkempt, sidelined temple. There was two other people in the area. Also, you are asked to pay 300yen to take the horribly rocky path to the cave. That's not much but I still don't think it was worth it.

Stunning and beautiful hill country temple, grounds and walk up hills within temple grounds estate. Very well worth a visit. Excellent country park and good campsites and barbeque pits nearby - ideal for picnics. Closed in winter months. Only practical access by road, most people drive. Excellent soba shop in nearby village. There's a kind of hellish landscape of working quarries nearby on a minor road over the hills as well as cement processing plant on both sides of the main access road. The hills of Tochigi are being turned into cement and concrete to build Tokyo and other Kanto cities. Watch out for convoys of dusty dumper trucks.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Ippeizukainari Shrine offers a serene escape from urban life. As you approach, you'll first encounter a striking torii gate, leading you to another at the top of a staircase that guides you to the shrine itself. Adorned with charming guardian dogs at its base—one particularly shiny from all the affectionate pets it receives—the atmosphere is both welcoming and tranquil.

(Translated by Google) A nice company in the middle of town. The precincts are a quiet space that seems to have been cut out just here. By the way, it's next door to Sairinji Temple, so you can see each other's precincts. (I accidentally forgot to take a photo...) I visited the shrine near noon, and while I thought the time would be a bad idea, I asked the priest for a red stamp, and he was very kind. At the shrine office, he showed me valuable photographs from the early Showa era to the Heisei era, and finally he told me about the origin of the painting of Mt. Tsukuba. It was certainly a little damaged, but it was still a fine painting. Thank you very much! Please note that we used the Tanuma Kakumachi parking lot next door. Once you pass through the torii gate in front of you, there is another torii gate at the end of the approach, and the shrine is at the top of the stairs. The torii gate in front of the stairs has two or three cute guardian dogs placed at the base. The guardian dog in the foreground was shiny and smooth, probably because everyone was petting it. As you climb the stairs, fox-like guardian dogs are enshrined on the left and right, and the shrine has a magnificent appearance. When I looked into the shrine, I saw a golden fox greeting me at the back. On the left side of the shrine, there is a staircase leading down to the shrine office, where you can find awarded items and stamps, as well as rare and colorful prints of stamps. There doesn't seem to be a parking lot, but there was a town parking lot to the left of the front torii gate for shopping at nearby stores. Please note that the parking lot on the right side facing the torii gate has a name written on each square, so it does not seem to be for worshipers. The staggered tiger's mouth at the main gate is amazing. I immediately found a stray cat. The Oinoi well, which is said to have never dried up even during the siege, is huge. The high stone walls and the view overlooking the Kanto Plain are magnificent. A priest is always on-site at the shrine office, and you can receive castle seals and red seals. I was particularly looking forward to visiting this castle as I had heard that its stone walls remained, which is rare in the Kanto region. I approached on the Tohoku Expressway from the North Kanto Expressway, and the tunnel I passed through was called Karasawayama Castle Tunnel. My expectations only grew as it was such a large mountain castle. The remains of the main citadel have been turned into Karasawayama Shrine, and it also has a large parking lot. The entire mountain must have been a kind of fortress. Some parts of the high stone walls were under repair and covered with blue tarps, but they were still very impressive. Suga Shrine Otokodan is a must-visit spot in Tokyo, located in the Yotsuya area. It features iconic red staircases and offers a picturesque setting for visitors. The shrine is easily accessible, making it a great free attraction to stumble upon while exploring the city. Its photogenic charm makes it an ideal place to experience the real-life locations from Tokyo featured in anime movies.
Amazing place to visit as the shrine is kinda serene though it’s in Shinjuku. Apart from the Iconic Stair from Your Name, this shrine has plenty to offer as it’s not crowded and you can learn about Japanese ritual culture. The shrine maiden is helpful though we communicated using Google Translate app.

Had to come here since ‘Your Name’ is my favourite movie of all time. The place itself is located in such a beautiful and peaceful neighbourhood and isn’t hard to access. There were only a few people taking photos of the stairs and in the shrine when we went on a weekday which made the whole visit a lot better! We ended up buying some charms for ourselves and the family and even carried out the rituals of cleansing and praying within the shrine! Highly recommend coming here if you’re a fan of the movie and if you want a break from the hustle and bustle! <3

Nestled in the heart of Sano City, Gakunoya is a must-visit for ramen enthusiasts. While its entrance can be a bit tricky to locate, the journey is well worth it. This popular eatery draws in crowds with its mouthwatering offerings, especially during lunch hours when it buzzes with energy. (Translated by Google) Visited on a weekday Friday around 12pm. No wait. Ordered ramen. The pork slices were so soft I couldn't even lift them with my chopsticks. This was one of the best pork slices I've ever had in ramen. Even the regular version has a lot of it, so even without the pork slices noodles I'm still satisfied. The soup is clear, sweet, and delicious, a feature unique to Sano ramen. The noodles are straight, not curly, but are hand-made with a lot of water, so the thickness is intentionally uneven, allowing for a variety of flavors. (Translated by Google) Visiting Sano from Tokyo is becoming a habit. This time, I went to Takenoya. The parking lot entrance was a bit hard to find, but I managed to arrive. There was a 30-minute wait with about 10 people. Thinking that Sano ramen doesn't have much of a salty flavor, I ordered the shio char siu ramen. Unlike the usual salt soup, it had a lot of what seemed to be ground sesame, a unique flavor unusual for shio ramen. It was rich and quite tasty. My companion ordered the standard soy sauce ramen, which had a relatively strong flavor for Sano. I ended up preferring this one. Everyone else raved about the chashu, and it was delicious. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and had a strong meaty flavor. The fried rice was also highly rated, but I thought it was just average. The gyoza dumplings were filling and delicious, with a firm skin and a thick filling. I ate a lot and was very satisfied. The lady serving the customers was brilliant and impressive.

(Translated by Google) The pork slices looked tasty, so I decided to try them. The gyoza had thick skin and a strong ginger flavour. Delicious. The ramen had a low salt content and a bland taste, perhaps due to the amount of seasoning or the fact that it was diluted in hot water after draining. The pork slices were tender and had a somewhat vague flavour. Overall, the taste was more average than the review suggested. It was good that it was a weekday and not too crowded.

This is my personal opinion based on my experience eating many Sano ramens at famous restaurants. The ramen is well-balanced and, above all, the char siu is delicious! It's so delicious! The shock you feel when you eat it for the first time is amazing. It looks normal, but it's amazing when you eat it. You can enjoy the ramen without ordering the char siu ramen. The gyoza and fried rice are delicious. Many customers come from far away, so there tends to be a line. There is only parking in front of the store, and there is no second parking lot. There are counter and table seats, and tatami seating. The store and toilets are neat and tidy and clean. Smoking is prohibited inside the store, but there is an ashtray outside for smoking. Only cash payments are accepted. The turnover rate is good. It didn't really bother me. -Food- I just happened upon this Sano ramen shop on my way there without any prior information. The menu said that the char siu ramen was their most popular, so I ordered it. I'm not particularly familiar with Sano ramen shops, but the soup was rich and flavorful, and delicious (although it was a bit salty towards the end and a bit hard to eat). The noodles were medium-thick and straight, chewy? Or firm? And personally, I thought they had a very fresh texture and were delicious. The char siu was incredibly delicious; it was soft and the flavor oozed with every bite. The rich soup really brought out the flavor, which was a nice touch. I ordered gyoza, but are Sano's gyoza actually quite large? I wonder if it's a bit much to eat five pieces by yourself. The ginger adds a nice accent, and the vinegar and pepper flavor is refreshing. -Other- The entrance may be a little hard to find the first time. Get off at Tanuma Interchange and turn diagonally right at the intersection of the pedestrian bridge. Continue straight and the shop will be just before you hit the national highway. The parking lot can accommodate more than 10 cars. There was no line at all during the weekday afternoon. Day 4

Northeast side of town
For day 4, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Konzoin, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Plum Grove Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Konzoin is a hidden gem that truly shines during the autumn season. On my recent visit, I was greeted by stunning displays of vibrant leaves, with hues of orange and red painting the landscape beautifully. The warm weather this year seemed to delay the peak foliage, making it an ideal time for leaf peeping. Accessing Konzoin is straightforward; there's a large parking lot nearby, but be prepared for some narrow roads where traffic can get tricky—one-way lights help manage the flow.

Additionally, visitors can explore taxidermy exhibits and learn about local minerals. Despite its modest size, the museum provides an enriching experience at no cost.

This alone is free, even though it seems like they could charge money. The stuffed animal section closes at 3pm (I think...I can't quite remember), and although the fossil museum itself closes at 5pm, it seems to close a little earlier. I missed taking photos, but the fossil section also had a lot of exhibits. You can even stroke the surface of an ammonite. Large rhino and elephant skeletons. The exhibition room is packed with exhibits. There are stuffed animals in the fossil section, and you can touch the fur of a raccoon dog. There is a river nearby that seems to have a lot of negative ions, so I took my time looking at it. Next door is the Folklore Museum, which has exhibits of clay bells and Joruri puppets. Be sure to check that out too. There is a toilet behind the reception desk, and the entrance door is wide open, so I felt uneasy. One of the selling points here is that they have models of the synapsid "Inostrancevia" (from Russia in the Permian Period of the Paleozoic Era) and the anapsid "Scutosaurus" (from Eastern Europe in the late Permian Period). The following is about synapsids (summarized from Wikipedia). Synapsids are a group (taxonomic group) of tetrapods that emerged on land among vertebrates, and are a general term for mammals and their ancestors, which were once called mammal-like reptiles. A common feature is that they have a hole called a "temporal window" on each side of the skull and behind the orbit, and the bone below them is shaped like a thin arch. In anatomy, this bone arch is called a "bow," and this group has one on each side, so they are called synapsids. Among tetrapods above reptiles, those that have two "bows" on one side are called diapsids, and those that do not have one are called anapsids. Because fossils are often found within these limestone layers, an exhibition facility is located here. It's free to visit. There aren't any impressive giants like the Jurassic dinosaurs. While the exhibits are mostly unassuming shellfish like ammonites, there are also a few creatures the size of rhinos and mammoths. It has a wide variety of valuable exhibits, including ancient Permian and Mesozoic fossils, as well as a nearly complete rhinoceros fossil. The museum is small, but there are many real and replica fossils, so it took about an hour and a half to look around carefully. The exhibits are divided into themes, and you can observe a variety of fossils and animal taxidermy up close. It's a place where both children and adults can learn while having fun, and I think it's suitable for independent research and family visits, but the air conditioning is weak and it may be a little hot. It was a Sunday, but it was relatively empty and I was able to relax, which is another attraction. I thought it was great that there were so many different exhibits for free admission. Plum Grove Park is a serene and delightful destination, perfect for families with young children thanks to its play equipment. The park features a tranquil forest path at the back, although visitors should be cautious of certain areas like the small sabo dam where entry is restricted. While some adventurous teens were spotted fishing beyond the fence, it's wise to heed safety warnings about potential wildlife encounters.

On February 26, 2022, I visited Sano Bamboo Handmade Ramen Oshiyama for the first time. Arriving at noon, there was no waitstaff initially, but soon about ten people lined up. Fortunately, the timing seemed to be good. I decided to order their char siu noodles along with five dumplings.
We stopped here for lunch and it was well worth it. The ramen is yummy and the gyozas are super huge and absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend this place.

(Translated by Google) My first time at Sano ramen. Handmade noodles with a gentle yet rich soup. The bamboo shoots were also delicious and I regret not ordering the bamboo shoot ramen. The pork slices are large, soft and moist, and blend in with the soup without overpowering its flavor. The handmade noodles come in a variety of thicknesses and lengths, but are boiled to perfection - what kind of magic is that? I wondered. The gyoza were large, with thick, chewy skin and a crispy crust, which was also delicious. In addition to the delicious ramen and gyoza, the staff were all very kind and welcoming, so I felt at ease even though I had children with me. It's far from my home, but it's a restaurant I'd definitely like to visit again. There was a line of about 13 people in front of the restaurant, and as there was no reception desk, I waited in line. A staff member brought me a menu while I was waiting, so I ordered first. After waiting in line outside for 30 minutes, I was shown to a seating area inside the restaurant at 11:45am, and after another 20 minutes, I was shown to my seat at 12:05pm. This time, I ordered the Char Siu Ramen for 1,050 yen plus Hand-wrapped Gyoza (3 pieces) for 300 yen, and my companion ordered the Ramen for 800 yen. The food is consistent, as you'd expect from a veteran restaurant. The noodles are hand-made, flat, and chewy, and the soup is rich and flavorful with a dashi-like broth. The char siu is also soft, with just the right amount of fat for a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. The gyoza are large, as you'd expect from a Sano ramen restaurant, with chewy skin and plenty of vegetables inside. The restaurant has four seats at the counter, three four-seater tables, and three raised tables that seat six. Payment is cash only. Nestled among the bustling famous eateries, 永華 餃子館 is a hidden gem that deserves your attention. While its name highlights gyoza, this charming spot also serves up delicious ramen that's worth trying. The handmade noodles paired with a well-balanced broth create a satisfying meal experience. Diners often find themselves pleasantly full after enjoying both the hearty ramen and generous portions of Sano gyoza, making it an ideal stop for lunch or dinner.
Not bad. I expected a lot of meat in the dumplings though. Maybe if you order normal dumpling, dumplings which contain mainly vegetable, would be served.

Nestled in Tochigi, Koeiji is a gem among the 100 Flower Temples of Eastern Japan. This serene temple offers visitors a chance to collect unique flower stamps and even receive a postcard as a delightful keepsake. The friendly staff enhances the experience, allowing guests to ring the temple bell—a lovely touch that adds to its charm. Koeiji is particularly stunning in mid-April when dogwoods are in full bloom, creating an enchanting atmosphere for all who visit.
(Translated by Google) Kukai, who received all the empowerments from his master, Keika, ``Show me a place suitable for disseminating this teaching,'' he said, and threw a hammer from the Tang Dynasty. Shortly after returning to Japan, I went into the mountains and was looking for the Sanko pestle when I met a hunter with two dogs. As I followed the two dogs, one white and one black, I saw something shining... There, Kukai's Sanko pestle, which he had thrown from the Tang Dynasty, was hanging on a pine tree. Later, Mt. Koya was granted by Emperor Saga. Takano Miko Okami (Kariba Myojin, incarnated as a hunter), the son of the landowner god Niutsuhime Okami, and two dogs were messengers to hand over the divine territory of Mt. Koya. Based on this tradition, Koeiji Temple enshrines a statue of Kobo Daishi Kukai and two Kishu dog statues, one white and one black, which are very rare statues. Why not visit a good temple that passes on the traditions to future generations? There are also goshuin stamps. Ramen restaurant
Iori is a charming little eatery that captures the essence of homemade comfort food. Nestled in a cozy setting with soft lighting, it offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying delicious ramen and gyoza. Diners rave about their soy sauce ramen, which has a lighter flavor profile—ideal for those who prefer subtle tastes. The Uma Shio Ramen stands out with its rich broth bursting with flavor, complemented by tender pork slices and perfectly cooked noodles.
Probably the best miso ramen I've ever had. The flavor was strong and thick. Made my BF jealous as he was eating soy sauce ramen. The gyoza was unique and delicious. It was green from a citrus leaf used in Japanese cooking. This place usually has a line so be prepared to wait as it's small and doesn't have many seats. Fun note: The toilet is decorated with Toto characters and you can find other character figures around the shop.

When they opened at 11:30, there was a line of about 12 people, but because I got in early, I was able to get a seat among the first ones. This time, I ordered their recommended salt "Uma Shio Ramen" (850 yen), "3 slices of pork" (330 yen), and "Double Gyoza" (400 yen), and my companion ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" (800 yen). The "Uma Shio" has a rich soup that is packed with the flavor of the ingredients. It pairs well with the noodles and is delicious to slurp. The "Char Siu" is also simmered until tender and very juicy. The "Double Gyoza" offers two different flavors. While the portions are smaller than those at other Sano ramen restaurants, they are a good size and easy to eat. The "Gyoza" are cooked to perfection, allowing you to enjoy the delicious meat juice without any toppings, but the "Shiso Gyoza" is also garlic-free and deliciously light. The store has a unique exterior and a chic interior. There are four seats at the counter, one seat at a four-seater table, two seats at two-seater tables, and two two-seater tables and one four-seater table on the raised floor. It is easy for individuals and families to visit. Payment can be made using "PayPay" and other payment methods. (Translated by Google) I was looking for Sano ramen, and for some reason I was drawn to the pudding for dessert (and the restaurant's name), so I drove there on a drizzling night, searching for the perfect spot, but ended up passing it by without noticing. The lighting is so soft. The restaurant was cute, and it had a very homemade feel to it. I ordered soy sauce ramen, Japanese niboshi ramen, double gyoza (a combination of juicy gyoza and shiso gyoza), and pudding after my meal. The Japanese niboshi ramen was a little salty for me, but the soy sauce ramen was perfect (I'm a little nervous since my doctor recently warned me to be careful about my blood pressure). It's been a while since I've had Sano ramen. The noodles are apparently made on the firmer side. I loved the gentle soy sauce flavor! The soft bamboo shoots I ordered as an additional topping were also delicious, but! I later discovered that they had everything on offer, and next time I'll order the salt ramen with everything on offer, topped with bean sprouts and almond tofu, and if possible, a mini bowl as well... This restaurant really got me fantasizing even after my meal. (Translated by Google) Menya Iori is a ramen restaurant in Sano, located about an 8-minute taxi ride from JR Ryomo Line Sano Station. This restaurant is particular about both the exterior and interior design, with the concept of "authentic Sano ramen enjoyed in a fairy tale world." As of June 2025, it had a high Tabelog rating of 3.63, so I went there. ■Menu I ordered ・Shoyu ramen → Please refrain from commenting that it's not the famous salt ramen. I chose the soy sauce ramen this time, but it is certified as a Sano brand by Sano City. The soup is a triple soup that combines the lightness of chicken bones, the richness of pork bones, and the umami of seafood! It is incredibly delicious. In addition, the soy sauce used is the highest quality Higeta, which is carefully selected. It has a mellow and deep richness that spreads throughout your mouth. The noodles are a blend of three types of wheat flour, hand-made from green bamboo, and have a chewy texture that goes down easily. They go great with the soup. ・Rare Char Siu Rice Bowl → I was surprised after just one bite. The rare char siu pork shoulder roast, vacuum-cooked at low temperature, is moist and soft, and goes perfectly with rice lol It's so delicious that you'll definitely want to try it with your ramen! Apart from salt and soy sauce, they also have a wide variety of other dishes such as Japanese niboshi, miso, and spicy miso, but next time I'd like to try their specialty salt ramen lol (Original) JR両毛線 佐野駅からタクシーで8分程にある、佐野ラーメン屋の【麺家 ゐをり(いをり)】 「おとぎ話の世界観で楽しむ本格佐野ラーメン」をコンセプトに外観・内観にもこだわったお店です。

They were juicy and even better than I expected! I highly recommend them! The soy sauce ramen was a little on the light side! I like my ramen quite strong, so it wasn't my favorite, but I recommend it for those who prefer lighter flavors! The seared pork bowl was also delicious! The pork was tender, so even those with bad teeth would enjoy it! I also liked the fact that they offer large, medium, and small sizes.👍🏻 The building itself is almost fairytale-like! Super delicious food here! I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take pictures 😅 We waited about 30 minutes, and there were only two staff members so they were very busy. Everything is made in a brick oven so it has a great flavor. We ordered two pizzas and the grilled veggies. The veggies were so rich I didn't even use the anchovy sauce they sent with it. I highly recommend it!

(Translated by Google) Today is a cheat day. Since I wanted to eat a lot of pizza, I went to Sano, although it was a bit far. I saw a photo of a pizza oven in Tabelog, so I was hoping that I would be able to eat authentic pizza. When I called the restaurant before going to the restaurant, I was told that ``it will be easier to eat if you make a reservation,'' so I made a reservation and went to the restaurant. When you drive by and arrive at the store, you will find a very fashionable store. The inside of the store is spacious, and it seems like they only operate one operation at a time. There were quite a few customers, so it seemed quite busy. There is a pizza oven in the store, which is quite stylish. This time I ordered one Bismarck and a half & half pizza. I was told that a half pizza can be eaten for a flat fee of ¥2,200. The pizza has a thick crust and a chewy center, making it delicious! The flavor was very high, probably because they were particular about the cheese they used. There were quite a few different types of pizza, so I think I'll try a different pizza the next time I come.

(Translated by Google) I wanted to eat pizza so I searched for it and went there. There was a large oven and many types of pizza! I ordered a margherita, and I thought the tomato sauce might be a bit strong, but it was delicious. I also ordered prosciutto salad, rice balls with mozzarella, and grilled pork, and they were all delicious. The fat of the pork in particular is so sweet that it melts in your mouth, and it's the most delicious thing you've ever tasted, so I highly recommend it! I gave it 4 stars because it was a little pricey, but it was delicious. The gamberetti is to die for♡ The owner runs the restaurant alone, but he's efficient and the service is smooth, so I never feel stressed.✨ Every dish is delicious.🥰 I'll definitely come back with my family. Ramen restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic ramen experience, look no further than Marukyu. This charming eatery captures the essence of traditional Japanese cooking with its delightful offerings. The standout feature is undoubtedly their ramen, which boasts a light yet robust dashi-flavored broth that perfectly complements the chewy noodles and tender chashu. Don't miss out on their gyoza either; these generously sized dumplings are packed with flavor and make for a satisfying addition to your meal.
A very local ramen restaurant offering a special taste of ramen which you have to try. For lunch set menu also available.

(Translated by Google) Sano Ramen is highly recommended. The aged soup goes perfectly with the noodles and chashu. The gyoza are also very satisfying with plenty of toppings and chewy skin. The store has the feel of an old-fashioned ramen shop, so it's convenient that it's open at night, and it's conveniently located right off National Route 50.

(Translated by Google) I arrived just before noon on a weekday, and every seat in the restaurant was filled with local customers. I filled my own water, sat at a raised table, and ordered the limited-edition Japanese-style ramen. The bowl arrived in less than 10 minutes, and the soup was crystal clear. The soup was a salty combination of an animal-based broth made with chicken bones, pork, and aromatic vegetables, combined with dried stock such as bonito flakes and kelp, for a rich, crisp, and refreshing flavor. The chewy, handmade noodles revealed the sweetness of the wheat with each bite, making them a delicious match for the refreshing soup. The deep-fried gyoza had thick, crisp skins that were fragrant and delicious. Ramen restaurant
Noodle shop
Ramen Tashichi is a charming ramen bar nestled along the bustling Inubuse Kaido, renowned for its unique take on traditional ramen. This beloved establishment specializes in green onion ramen, crafted with fresh bamboo noodles and local spring water that enhances the flavors beautifully. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. During my visit over Golden Week, I experienced the excitement of waiting in line alongside fellow enthusiasts eager to savor their famous dishes.

(Translated by Google) It's Golden Week, so yesterday I traveled a little over two hours one way from home to visit for the first time with a close friend from work. I arrived before 12:00 noon and luckily found one free space in the not-so-small parking lot, parked it, and waited in line. There were about 20 people outside the store and we waited for about 40 minutes to enter. I ordered green onion ramen and gyoza, which seem to be the standard at this restaurant. The rice bowl is ready in about 15 minutes. Lots of green onions. All-purpose green onions, spring onions, chives, or chives. Easy-to-eat green onions without any spiciness. When you eat the noodles, which are covered with green onions and you can't see the soup, you'll find a clear, mild-flavored soup, and uneven curly noodles typical of Sano ramen. I ordered a large serving and was satisfied with the quantity and taste ^_^. The gyoza is crispy on the grill and juicy inside. delicious. The size is smaller (regular size) compared to the size of the gyoza at Sano Ramen shop. I think it's a must-have side menu when you visit. I may have taken too many pictures at the counter facing the kitchen. It seems like the owner came to the parking lot to check the number after paying the bill (^.^; Thank you for the meal!

(Translated by Google) I went to eat on May 27, 2025. The last time I ate there was on July 5 last year. It's been almost a year. I went on a weekday this time too, so it was empty. Last time I had the Nekimeshi set, but today I had the green onion ramen. This green onion has a crunchy texture like Kujo green onions, but it has almost no spiciness, so the spoon that scoops up the green onions and eats them does a great job. It's really delicious. I wanted to eat the green onion rice because it was delicious, but I gave up because I had already eaten ramen and char siu rice bowls at the first place. It's a shame that I can't eat it even though it's delicious. I'll come again on a weekday next time.

(Translated by Google) Ramen Taishichi: A long-established ramen shop located along Inubuse Kaido, a fierce battleground for Sano ramen. Their specialty is green onion ramen, and I personally like green onions because white onions are popular in the Kanto region. You can just have ramen, but I recommend the set menu. My favorite is the Kurokara set (fried chicken marinated in sauce). The ramen has a light soy sauce flavor, but the soup stock is rich and you can also taste the sweetness of the vegetables. The common feature of the soup of Sano ramen is the richness of the soup stock, and it is light but not thin. According to the NHK TV program "RAMEN JAPAN," the secret is the water used to make the soup stock. Do all ramen shops use Sano City's tap water? The tap water is groundwater, rich underground water from the Nikko mountain range, and is soft water with a moderate amount of minerals, making it suitable for both noodles and soup. Sano ramen is also available in neighboring cities of Sano City (Tatebayashi and Ota in Gunma), but the soup does not feel very rich and is thin. So, you can't get Sano ramen unless you're in Sano City. I've gone off topic a bit, but the ramen's characteristics and four particular points are as stated in the notice inside the store, but the noodles have a " " firmness. Are the empty spaces covered with tape? I wonder what that is. And the black fried chicken that came with the set was huge! I was full just from the fried chicken! The sauce-flavored fried chicken was sweet and sour and strange at first, but once you get used to it, it's fine! The set (with cold tofu and rice) was 1,250 yen, so it's good value for money! It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.
