Historic Sites
Tomioka Silk Mill, also known as Tomioka Seishijo, is a historic silk spinning mill established in 1872. It was Japan's first modern silk factory and played a crucial role in the country's efforts to modernize during the Meiji Period. The mill was built with the assistance of French specialists to enhance the quality of silk production through advanced machinery and improved working conditions for its employees. The site features well-preserved buildings from its early years, including warehouses and residences.
Underrated World Culture Heritage location. You'll be surprised on how little known to the International tourists. Maybe not everyone is interested in silk mills or textile history. Good job in preserving such an important era of human history.

This former silk factory let people to feel the term of industrial change in Japanese history. Very educational even for Japanese.

The most visited place of Gunma prefecture. The most attractive tourist spot of Tomioka City. It's a world heritage place that demonstrates the ancient Silk production and processing system of Japan. Moreover it's a model Silk factory that foster machines and modern system of silk factory across the country...
Subasish — Google review
Attraction: Nice place to visit on your way to your destination. Many buildings are closed, so you can only see them from the outside. There are two rather large buildings that you can walk through one has a second story with a few exhibits you can read about. There's not that much walking since the museum is quite small. Fees: We paid $1,000 yen per person, but there are discounted rates for children. Food: There are several places for small snacks and light meals outside of the museum. We didn't try any of them and so can't recommend. Parking: There's no parking specific to the museum but there are small parking lots spread around town at the entry. Going rate is $500 yen for a full day.

Good to learn about the history and how the silk manufacturing developed in Japan. Huge machinery retained as exhibits.

Visited last year.. There is free Tomioka Silk Mill app that can be downloaded for the audio tour in various language. It’s an interesting historical place to learn how raw silk was made in the early days.

One of the world Heritage Sites of Japan. Full of its historical remains. Access is really inconvenient, however if you have a car its easy. The walking inside the Silk mill feels like you are living at 18th century. It really feels that you time travel and went back to 18th.

We dropped by Tomioka silk mill after camping just for a fun. It was amazing experience to see the process of making silk and historical house constructed before the war. Especially we are interested in the lifestyle of staff and trainers. We could see the furniture and documents. Highly recommend.

Gunma Safari Park, situated in Takasaki, Japan, is a popular attraction offering an exceptional safari experience. Spanning 360,000 square meters, the park features guided bus tours through animal enclosures where visitors can observe a variety of wildlife including big cats, giraffes, elephants, meerkats and red pandas up close.
Very nice place. It is old, and seems that the maintenance is poor..maybe the business is not going well. But I really appreciated it. Very big park, great family experience

We traveled a long way to experience a wild safari, but it turned out to be just an average park. You can see the same animals in a zoo in Japan. Instead, I recommend enjoying the scenic beauty in Gunma and relaxing at an onsen for a perfect retreat day.
Gurneet K — Google review
This zoo, built in a mountainous area, has some of the best animals on display, bringing animals from different countries.

Recommend to go by personal car and enjoy this zoo by drive in the area where is settled for drive through. You can get close with all animals in that area. Very excited when arrive at tigers and lions zone. Please follow the rule for your safety. The zoo is very wide area. There are variety of animals. There is walking zone too. The rabbit cage also fun because the zoo allow you to touch the rabbits but you have to run and catch them. Please careful that the rabbits may bite you. And the others activity you can do here such as feeding bengal, hold hamsters.

Nice safari park…..better to go by private car…drive slowly and stop whenever you like. Feed lion/tiger by paying Yen 500. Not a big safari but its amazing.

Shorinzan Daruma-ji Temple, located in Takasaki, is renowned for its Takasaki Daruma Dolls. These colorful wooden dolls are considered good luck charms and are deeply rooted in Japanese tradition and superstition. The temple offers various services such as blessing daruma and the opportunity to take a daruma-doll painting class, providing insight into the meaning and history of these iconic dolls. Additionally, visitors can explore gift stores and omamori stores on the temple grounds.
Beautiful Datuma Shrine Outside Takasaki. Before you start arriving you will see many shrine signs and Darumas. It's a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, clean, calm... We visited on a Friday afternoon it was very quiet. There's a shop where you can buy some amulets related to the shrine.
Alemka K — Google review
Beautiful temple and quiet too. Little to no tourists so it was super peaceful. The museum inside was interesting too definitely would recommend if you’re interested in daruma dolls
Xavier A — Google review
Visited Shorinzan Darumaji Temple today and it was such a meaningful experience. I had the chance to paint my own Daruma doll — the staff explained how to do it very clearly, which made it easy and fun. There’s also a small museum where you can see many Daruma dolls and learn about their history. What made the visit extra special was seeing the monks pray for everyone’s wishes — it felt very peaceful and heartwarming. A perfect place for reflection and a unique cultural experience. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

【達磨の丘、沈黙のまなざし】 There’s a quiet satisfaction in arriving at Shōrinzan Daruma-ji (少林山達磨寺) — as if stepping into the birthplace of perseverance itself. Founded in the late 17th century in Takasaki, this temple is believed to be where the now-famous Daruma dolls were first crafted. The dolls, modeled after Bodhidharma, the meditating monk who lost the use of his limbs in pursuit of enlightenment, embody persistence through misfortune. Around the temple, red faces peek from unexpected corners — a stone ledge here, a garden nook there — silent witnesses to countless wishes made and forgotten. The grounds feel both festive and faintly melancholic, especially knowing how commercial the Daruma has become beyond these slopes. There’s a small museum by the main hall, but sometimes the best way to meet a legend is outdoors, in the wind that rustles through pines and prayer flags. Leaving, the rows of painted eyes seemed to follow — half-awake, half-dreaming — as if reminding me that effort, once begun, should always be completed. 【Features】 🚶‍♂️ Access: 15 mins from Takasaki Station by bus 📍 Visibility: Well-marked but feels secluded 📜 Signage: Mostly Japanese, some English 📷 Photo spot: Scattered Darumas make fun finds 🌳 Ambience: Quietly spiritual with playful details 🎐 Soundscape: Crows, temple bells, murmuring visitors 🕰️ Age: Established 1697 📖 History plaque: Yes, bilingual 🐾 Local life: Families, students, curious travelers 🧭 Off the beaten path? ➖Somewhat 💰 Admission: Free 🔙 Would I visit again? 🟰 Perhaps — once is enough to understand its charm

Shisen, a Chinese restaurant in Takasaki with ample parking space, is worth a visit if you crave authentic Sichuan cuisine. This spacious establishment offers a variety of dishes that are sure to excite your taste buds. The round table setup adds to the enjoyable dining experience. One highly recommended dish is the Dandan noodles, which deliver a satisfyingly spicy and delicious flavor with each bite.

(Translated by Google) I went in on a Sunday lunchtime. There were two or three groups ahead of me. After some deliberation, I ordered Sichuan-style mapo tofu and rice, and my wife ordered seafood fried rice. An elderly woman was working alone, so she told me to wait a moment, and I was like, "Huff," and "Phew," and it took a while for the order to be placed. However, the mapo tofu that came out was moist and not greasy, and very delicious. It was just the right amount of spicy. My wife's seafood fried rice was also light and fluffy, and it was not the usual fried rice with scrambled eggs, but a golden fried rice without lumps. This one was also not greasy and went down smoothly. The shrimp and squid were seasoned and prepared, and although they looked like they were the same as the fried rice, the ingredients were well seasoned and very delicious. She was with an elderly husband, and it seemed like she was going at her own pace, but if you can accept that, I think it's a good restaurant.

The fried rice is crispy and the squid and shrimp are plump. This is the work of a professional. (Translated by Google) Visited with my wife, parents, sisters and family. I had a niece in 5th grade, a niece and nephew in 2nd grade, and a 2-year-old daughter, and they all enjoyed the ramen, dandan noodles, and green pepper meat paste. There are two sizes, but the small one is about 3 servings, so there is quite a lot. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them on small plates as shown in the photo. Green pepper meat...delicious! It's not greasy and feels refreshing. Chilled Dandan noodles...not spicy and delicious! Boiled dumplings... They were small in size, but they were plump and delicious. Sichuan mapo tofu...it was extremely spicy. I could only eat one bite. It tastes just right when mixed with fried rice or dandan noodles. Shrimp fried rice... it's so fluffy! ! ! It was the most delicious. Squid and nuts with chili sauce...surprisingly delicious! It's not spicy! It was a chili pepper that looked like a wood ear mushroom. It is recommended to go with a large group.

Warehouse club
Food court
Hearing aid store
Costco Wholesale Maebashi Warehouse is a members-only store offering a wide range of products, from bulk groceries to electronics. The prices are competitive, with imported items available at surprisingly reasonable prices. The food court serves delicious options like pizza and hot dogs, and the store also offers a variety of other items such as fruits, bakery goods, frozen foods, and Hokkaido ice cream.
For US travelers, your membership will get you in, but you must pay with Mastercard or a Costco linked visa card at checkout. Inventory is more weighted to home goods and carries a nicely diverse set of items about 50% different than US locations and other global stores. Don't miss the local fruits, lettuces, eggs, sushi, and regionally baked items, which will be far superior to what you get in the US.

Real food good food. I guess all Costco food is decent. Also the selection is great and good quality. Though most surprise the quality of the beef quality. I wish there were more Japanese beef in other worldwide Costco.

I enjoy visiting this Costco every month or two, as it is conveniently located near my residence compared to the ones in Chiba and Gifu. I am always delighted to discover new items, and while they don't seem to carry many products from the UK, I always make sure to purchase some British cheddar cheese, as good cheese can be somewhat difficult to find in Japan. I invariably leave the store with more items than I initially intended to buy, and I never forget to treat myself to a hot dog before departing. However, during my last visit, I experienced a minor frustration when some individuals were cutting in line, and the clerk did not intervene.
Matthew C — Google review
The meat for BBQ, shabu shabu, sukiyaki, gyoudong and salmon at Costco tastes really good, the price is also not so expensive. wow delicious pizza. Tiramisu tastes really bad, not tiramisu. Tiramisu that tastes good is Italian tiramisu, and costco first made and sold it last year during Christmas and New Year's Day, the price is pretty good, this tiramisu is really delicious. Tiramisu in a glass of 6 pieces is also very delicious. The price of goods a costco goes up, regular memberships don't get points. Buying pizza, hot dogs, burgers, soft cream in the corner of the room also doesn't get points. When the goods are checked, not everything is checked. Costco should provide special prices or gifts for members who remain loyal to non-stop shopping for more than 10 years.

It's a so-called specialty goods/souvenir shop, but there were quite a lot of different genres of items, so I was spoiled for choice. Gateau Festa Harada is famous nationwide. I remember buying Himokawa Udon and Mizusawa Udon somewhere before. So this time I tried Gunmar's famous fried manju (lol), but I've never tried it before! There were other B-grade apples for 500 yen for 5-6 pieces, and 100 yen for 10 Hime apples, so I was prepared to buy them because they were heavy (lol). I was offered other things like hamburgers with beef tongue and Manchurian dumplings, but this time I had to be patient. I took a photo and will post it. Takasaki Station is a bustling transportation hub with convenient connections to buses and stops for exploring the surrounding areas. The station features a musical theme, with a grand piano and locker rooms, offering travelers a unique experience. Visitors can indulge in confectionery, baked goods, and other gifts at the station's souvenir shops. For those in need of sustenance, there are food outlets available as well as a recommended coffee shop called 'eggNthings' that offers stunning city views.
This train station links up to hotels and mall which definitely great. There's a lot of shop too inside the station building. It's not hard for foreigner like me to seek for directions with the great clear sign boards around. I bought my ticket at the counter, the lady was very helpful despite the language barrier we facing.

It’s a really convenient station in Takasaki for both bus and trains! You can go to Tokyo and Narita directly from here! We always use this place for our trips! Around the station, there are bunch of stores and restaurants to enjoy and do shopping! Keep up the great work! Cheers 🥂

The ticket gate leading to the Jyoshu Electric Railway platform is located on the west side of Takasaki Station, down to the ground floor. The trains are used not only as sightseeing trains to the Tomioka Silk Mill, but also as commuter trains for nearby residents. A standing buckwheat noodle shop just outside the ticket gate has a nice atmosphere and is recommended to use.

Great Joetsu shinkansen and local JR rail station, well connected and situated to the wonderful city of Takasaki with lots of nearby stores, restaurants, and lodgings. As always, JR Rail keeps the station clean and efficient, and, also as always, the trains do run on time. I was especially impressed with the large courtyard area outside the front of the station, which offered places to hang out and chat with friends. There is a large department store adjacent to the courtyard, as well as an APA hotel. The connection of the station to the city is really well done overall. Clean and wonderful.

Mountains rise in the distance like silent guardians. The air is cooler, the light gentler. Takasaki greets travelers with bells and daruma eyes — a town of craftsmanship and hope. The Takasaki Line rests here, its long journey fulfilled. Tourist Tip: Final stop. Visit Takasaki’s Daruma Temple and Mount Kannon. Transfer to Joetsu or Shinetsu Lines for mountain travel. The city offers both art and serenity.

Quite a large train station but it’s conveniently linked with buses/stops to bring one to the surrounding areas. There are also souvenir shops n food outlets(mall) here so it’s easy to catch a meal before your bus ride. Most bus Drivers can speak a little English but are very accommodating n helpful. It’s not difficult to catch the right bus, just inquire politely n always confirm your destination when boarding the bus with the driver. The train station is itself comfortable and nice to browse around for 30 minutes or have a meal break or just to pick up some souvenirs! The Daruma Bento is a good buy because after eating one can retain the red plastic container (which is a Daruma) for a souvenir keepsake.

Gunma no Daidokoro is a restaurant located in the Takasaki station building, run by Oginoya, a renowned Kama-meshi restaurant in Toge. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes that can be ordered using a touch panel. Customers can enjoy draft beer and sets featuring items like stewed beef tendon, potato salad, and stewed shiitake mushrooms.
(Translated by Google) During a business trip, I visited Gunma no Daidokoro, located inside Takasaki Station in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. This restaurant offers casual dining and local Gunma and Takasaki flavors, making it a convenient stop for both tourists and business travelers. Their specialty, kamameshi, was a highlight, but the sanzoku-yaki, served piping hot and sizzling, was particularly memorable. The juicy meat and fragrant seasoning really whetted my appetite. I also enjoyed my favorite local beer, which paired perfectly with the food, leaving me extremely satisfied. Many of the dishes utilize local ingredients, offering a uniquely Gunma dining experience. I think this restaurant is recommended not only for locals but also for those visiting from outside the prefecture. (Translated by Google) I guess it's called Ekinaka at Takasaki Station. A shop located in a building attached to a station. This is the store of Oginoya, the famous ekiben, Toge no Kamameshi. When I visited on Sunday lunchtime, there were several groups waiting. I was able to enter the store in about 30 minutes. As I was visiting alone, I was given a booth seat for one person. The number of seats designed like this has been increasing recently. I guess there's quite a need for it. Now, for lunch on my trip, I was drawn to the small drink set displayed at the store, but I chose draft beer (600 yen) for the Joshu udon and touge kama-sara gozen (1,900 yen) that was on the lunch menu. Lunch was served shortly after draft beer was served. It's quite fast for a pot meal. When I thought about it, I wasn't paying enough attention. Even though it says ``kamadara,'' it doesn't say ``kamadameshi.'' When I looked at the display at the store later, I found that the explanation was written on the menu. Kamameshi ingredients and cooked rice are served in two tiers. It seems like it satisfies the needs of people who want something quick and easy while still enjoying the feeling of cooking in a pot. I think the turnover rate is quite different as a store. If you are looking for Kamameshi, choose one that is labeled as "Kamameshi" to avoid making mistakes. If you mistakenly order and think it is Kamameshi, you may be disappointed. The gozen set includes a single serving of udon noodles and an herb-sized kettle plate. When you take a bite of the udon, you will be surprised by its chewy texture. It is so smooth and chewy that it is so delicious. I don't really know how to eat Kamadara, but I ate it by putting it on top of rice like Kamadara. Chicken, chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, burdock root, and maybe apricots. There was also green peas. Each ingredient is flavored and delicious. However, unlike kamameshi, it is served in a style where ready-made food is plated and served. You can't expect the deliciousness and realistic feel of Kamameshi because each item is cooked one by one. Again, the delivery is very fast, so it's a matter of which one you choose. This may be a good idea in the sense that it eliminates the disadvantages of kamameshi while still providing the feeling of kamameshi and ekiben. Lastly, I had ankoro mochi, which I guess is Usui Pass chikara mochi, and stuffed my mouth full with it. Thank you for the meal. Serves delicious chicken dishes, and is a well known local eatery in Gunma. Had the tsuke soba and mini tori meshi. The chicken based soup broth was light and went well with the thin soba noodles. It seems that Torihei opened a branch in Gunma in 1953, branching off from its Tokyo flagship store. While its takeout bento box service seems to be more popular in Gunma, several locations offer freshly prepared meals, so I visited the Monterey branch in front of the station. As it was a national holiday, I arrived and checked in at 12:30, and was able to enter at 1:30 PM. There was a full hour wait. Since reservations are not accepted, it's best to plan your visit well in advance, perhaps during off-peak hours. ◯ Tofu Salad 650 yen With a generous portion of lettuce, cucumber, tomato, tofu, and yakitori, this dish is incredibly satisfying. ◯ Torimeshi Matsushige 1,000 yen A classic torimeshi. The seasoning is neither too strong nor too light, making it a long-loved favorite. ◯ Chicken Set Meal ¥1,200 A filling set meal with three pieces of fried chicken and two pieces of fried chicken breast. (Translated by Google) I visited for lunch on a weekday. I ordered a large portion of spicy grated daikon radish soba from the menu. I was shown into a Japanese-style room with a tranquil garden view. The soba noodles were very thin and delicate, with a pleasant aroma. I was delighted to see that the spicy daikon radish, my favorite, was served in a much larger portion than I expected. I can't think of a better combination of soba soup, spicy daikon radish, and soba. I finished off with soba soup. The soba soup, which brought out the flavor of the spicy daikon radish, was also exceptional. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great, and it was a very satisfying lunch. And my soba journey continues. Thank you for the meal. It's in a rustic old house like something you'd see in a period drama, and the soba noodles I had were thin and chewy. I had the tempura on zaru. The soba noodles are in two piles, and the portion is rather small. The soup is thick, and is similar to what you'd find in northern Kanto. The tempura, according to reviews, seems to be pretty much the same. It's a regular on Tabelog's "100 Best Restaurants," but I don't really rely on it. I don't really know what the soba smells like, but it's often said to be very fragrant. There may be a line depending on the day, but I was able to get in without a line around 1pm on a weekday. The price was 2,100 yen, including tax. It's just the right amount of soba for a light snack. It’s a massive mall. 3 floors and lots of restaurants and a food court in the 3rd floor. There’s a child’s playground area in the 3rd floor too. Very busy on weekends and rainy days. If you don’t like crowds, I wouldn’t go. Parking is ample but the entrance and exits are quite confusing. During the hot summer months I try to park in their covered parking areas.

I've been coming here for years and always thought the building appeared huge from the outside but somehow it didn't feel quite as massive inside. It just struck me that because they don't do underground parking (or underground anything) in Japan, half of this building is consumed by the 4th + 5th level parking lots and the roller-coaster-like gigantic ramps that get cars up and down to the parking lots.

Nestled in a park adorned with cherry trees, the Minowa Castle Ruins offer a glimpse into history with its stone walls and moats. While the castle itself has diminished over time, the 2km path through lush greenery provides a serene walk amidst remnants of the past. As one of Japan's top 100 castles, it boasts panoramic views and is recognized as a nationally designated historic site.
This site has been reclaimed for public use with the surrounding properties providing access and a carpark. The land shows clearly the foundations of the ancient structure but for the most part nature has taken possession of the land and is very pleasant to walk around. The Sakura and other tree and flower specimens were a joy to behold.

On holidays, it's available at the counter on duty. Pamphlets with maps are distributed free of charge at the community center, so it's a good idea to stop by there first. From the large, free parking lot with signs, it's a steep uphill walk, but it seems you can drive part of the way there. The tour route includes a path through a dry moat, and is interesting because it's full of ups and downs, but the elevation changes mean it may be difficult for those with weak legs. The only building left is the restored Kakumaide Nishikoguchimon Gate, and almost no other structures remain. (Translated by Google) It takes just over an hour by rental car from Takasaki Station to reach the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. The parking lot is relatively large and convenient, with a restroom. The castle's layout is quite impressive, with natural moats on the west and south sides, and moats on the north and east. When the castle was defended by Nagano Narimasa, a rival of Takeda Shingen and the famous general who led the Nagano 16 Spears, it was so impregnable that it's no wonder Shingen said, "We can't attack Ueno while Narimasa is defending Minowa Castle." Now, with well-maintained walking paths, it's easy to reach the main enclosure. We spent about an hour and a half exploring the walking paths on the map installed at the castle. The current castle ruins are said to have taken shape during the reign of Ii Naomasa, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tokugawa shogunate. While there are stone walls at key points, the vast moats and large moats are beautifully placed, taking advantage of the terrain. A stroll around the castle is fascinating, as they are on a scale rarely seen before. The impression it gives is that of a typical Kanto-style flatland castle. Every year, the Minowa Castle Festival is held at the castle, and at the time of the siege, preparations were underway. The festival also includes events such as the siege of Minowa Castle, and I thought it was an interesting initiative to pass on the history of the castle to future generations while making use of the castle. The 100 Famous Castles stamp can be found at Takasaki City Minago Branch Office, a little distance from the castle ruins, so don't forget to get there.

Jigen-in Temple, also known as Takasaki Byakue Dai-Kannon, is a serene and historic site located about 10 km northwest of Osaka's city center. The temple features a beautiful garden and a traditional tea ceremony house. The main attraction is the impressive 41.8-meter-tall statue of the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Byakue Dai-Kannon, which offers sweeping views across the city from its top reached by climbing 146 steps inside the statue.

The place is easy to find. It is a walkable destination but there is a good part of the walk is on the road. The way up the hill is also tough at the start with steep incline. Otherwise, an interesting place of worship for the believers. In Japan, Guanyin (观音菩萨)is seen as a source of mercy and compassion, and her image and temples are common in Buddhist practice, such as the International Buddhist Temple (观音寺) named in her honor
Dennis T — Google review
【白衣の静寂、観音のまなざし】 We hadn’t meant to find it — the great Byakue Daikannon (白衣大観音) rises from the hillside above Takasaki like a vision in white silk. From the road below it looked almost modest, but standing at its feet, the sheer grace and scale are humbling. Built in 1936, the 41.8-meter statue was meant as a prayer for world peace, its serene face gazing out across the Kanto Plain. The temple grounds surrounding it are quiet — stone steps bordered by whispering pines, weathered Jizō statues tucked into corners, the faint scent of incense carried by mountain wind. Few visitors pass through, and that emptiness deepens the calm. From within the statue, narrow windows frame unexpected slices of the city below — Takasaki’s rooftops, trains threading through distance, all watched over by a silent guardian in white. Afterward, a short descent leads back to the modern rhythm — a coffee at 蓮屋, perhaps, or a detour to the Daruma shrine nearby — small reminders that tranquility and daily life coexist easily here. Leaving, I felt Takasaki itself grow a little warmer, as if this hillside temple had quietly lent the city its soul. 【Features】 🚶‍♂️ Access: 10 mins by car or bus from Takasaki Station 📍 Visibility: Clearly visible from afar 📜 Signage: Bilingual at main entrance 📷 Photo spot: Excellent from base and statue interior 🌳 Ambience: Serene, open, airy 🙏 Ritual: Small altar and incense offerings 🎐 Soundscape: Wind through pines, distant bells 🕰️ Age: 1936 (Shōwa era) 🐾 Local life: Occasional monks, few tourists 🧭 Off the beaten path? ✔️Yes 💰 Admission: Free (small fee to enter statue) 🔙 Would I visit again? 💓Definitely

Very neat experience for seeing a local Takasaki attraction. There is free parking near the statue, and also there is a great spot for taking selfie pictures across the red bridge beside the temple. We also had a picnic in the nearby park, definitely a cool family spot to visit. We enjoyed our time there.

Very serence place. The statue is 41 meters high. You need a car to conveniently visit the temple. If you’re hopping on a bus, plan ahead and take the Kannonyama Bus # 13 or 14 at platform 8 in Takasaki bus terminal.

Ringer Hut, a champon noodle restaurant located at AEON Mall Takasaki, offers a delectable selection of dishes. The seasoning used in their classic recipes is safe and enhances the flavors of the vegetables. Their assortment includes various sets, providing a full and satisfying dining experience. The dumplings are small and easy to enjoy, accompanied by eggplant pepper and vinegar pepper for a refreshing taste. One dish is enough to satisfy your cravings.

Food: 6/10 Service: 4/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 More details below ↓↓ While the atmosphere might lure you in, by the end of the meal you will be wanting for something more. It is by all means an OK spot to grab some Korean BBQ, but if I am being honest...there are better places you can visit in Takasaki. The highlight of this place is definitely the decor and overall atmosphere. With cute colourful booths, and flashy hints of Korean culture hidden in plane sight, it saves itself from a 2 star rating. The service is below average. The food is O.K. It'll get the job done, but just barely.

I was hesitant to visit due to the relatively low ratings on Tabelog, but it turned out to be quite a satisfying experience for me. Their menu is available in both Chinese and English, which was helpful. While the meat isn’t cheap, the portions are adequate. Even though I dined alone, they arranged a table with a lovely window view, which made the experience even nicer.

Authentic Japanese restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic soba and tempura experience, look no further than Sobakkuhi Takasaki. Nestled on Mt. Kannon, this charming eatery offers a warm welcome from the moment you step inside. The restaurant takes great pride in its buckwheat noodles, ensuring that every part of the process—from flour to cooking water—is thoughtfully utilized in your meal.
A definitive soba / tempura experience can be found here. After seeing a couple of the Takasaki highlights, we dropped in for lunch and felt welcomed from the moment we entered. This homely restaurant respects their buckwheat! Not a single stage is wasted from the flour / powder to the water the noodles are cooked in; everything is incorporated back into the meal. The tempura alone is outstanding, and then there's the ayu sweet fish gently cooked whole over an open fire indoors. I have only praise for this restaurant and the way they prepare their ingredients. The location itself should be mentioned: perched on a mountain side in an old-style home complete by a little rock garden.

I thought the store would open at 11:30, but at 11 o'clock they put up a sign saying "open for business". Be the first to enter the store. When I opened the entrance, I saw the owner grilling sweetfish with roe in the hearth. The carefully grilled sweetfish from the Nagara River can be eaten clean, down to the bones. The portion of soba noodles is a little modest. I think 1.5 servings or more is better when you're hungry. We ate delicious sweetfish and soba noodles while admiring the beautiful scenery. On December 31, 2021, around 11:05 in the morning, I visited Ohno Soba Restaurant. It is a popular place where people come to eat once a month and especially on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was busy, with numbered tickets being distributed to manage the crowd. Fortunately, I was able to secure a seat as announced by the staff beforehand.
(Translated by Google) It seems like a place where soba lovers gather. I visited for the first time at 12:30 on a Saturday, which was a very busy time. There were about 10 cars in the parking lot, and when we entered the entrance after passing through the stylish curtains and looking across the garden, there were about 2 people waiting in groups. Since there was only one group, we had to wait and were let inside in about 10 minutes. Since there were two of us, we shared a table at a large table that could seat about 10 people. When I looked around, I found that the average age was surprisingly high, and there were many energetic elderly people. When you look at the menu, you can see that the prices are a little higher than usual and that they are particular about their food. After much deliberation, I ordered a large serving of both ``Shrimp Ten Seiro'' and ``Duck Seiro.'' It was delivered in about 15 minutes. The duck bamboo steamer has a warm soup with lots of duck and green onions, and a wonderful scent of yuzu. The soba noodles are also delicious. The tempura was freshly fried and the shrimp were plump and very satisfying. Many soba restaurants with this kind of attention to detail only serve a small amount of soba, but even a regular portion was enough for a woman. It was a stylish shop where you can feel the commitment to soba noodles. It was a very satisfying soba restaurant that I would want to go to again. Nestled along the picturesque Haruna River, Haruna Shrine is a captivating ancient Shinto shrine that dates back to 586 AD, making it one of the oldest in Gunma Prefecture. Surrounded by majestic cedar forests and towering mountains, this serene site is dedicated to the revered deity of Mount Haruna. Visitors flock here not only for its spiritual significance—praying for love, marriage, and childbirth—but also to immerse themselves in its rich history and breathtaking natural beauty.
One of the best shrines in Gunma in my opinion. The nature is beautiful and the walk to the shrine is very peaceful. The shrine was under construction unfortunately but it was still an amazing experience.

Great place to visit. Not too crowded area but has good tourism support infrastructure. Access is relatively easy to walk through with break areas and shops scattered along the way. Main area was being renovated at September 2024 so its view was limited but overall place and the walk still make it a beautiful place to visit.

A very good place to visit for those who are looking for a solemn place to pray. It's my second time to visit this Shrine and it seems the construction is not yet finished so I can't rate it 5 stars. From Takasaki Station, we ride a bus and stop on the foot of the Shrine. When we arrived, there are remains of snow from the last day. It took us 15minutes to reach the Shrine since we enjoyed the scenery Haruna Shrine offers. The road is cemented, there are few sloppy stairs but it's not that hard to ascend. I've seen a shop where you can buy foods in case you've got a hungry stomach. For those who have cars, there is parking near the entrance of of the Shrine.

Not too touristy, 1,300 year old campus of shrines curved out on the side of mountains in Gunma Prefecture. Very somber, impressive buildings - not because they are foiled in gold or they have the record ranking size, but because they have quietly endured the time, and still existing. When I went there, it was the 2nd day of the New Year, and yet still, not too many people were there, daring the bitter cold air of the cedar woods and frozen water falls. I live in western NY, so I know cold - this place carried it's own winter bitter! True to the essence of Shintoism, even the smallest and the most eroded structures are still kept, tendered and their dieties are well respected. A little Cha-Ya (tea house) half way up the lane that's leading up to the main shrine, reminded me of how things were perhaps 1,000 years ago, treating those who have traveled days or weeks, or even month to get there, on foot. ( I'm pretty fit BUT their official "15 minutes to the top shrine" was a bit of a stretch - a handful of really old ladies in their 80- 90 something were walking with a cane, taking rest every few steps up a very steep stone starts) This place is famous for the plums. Their Plum Cake (Ume Manju) was very tasty, with a whole cooked plum inside, wrapped inside of not too sweet red bean paste.

A tranquil place with solemnity where you'll find a nice trail leading to a Japanese shrine of hundreds years old inside the mountain. Everything is so original without much artificial decoration. Lucky that not many foreign tourists (particularly.those from.mainland Chinese) know this place, the site remains quiet and one can really enjoy an escape of busy life here walking leisurely deep in mountain. Definitely a five star tourist site as of today.

The shrine area was magical. It felt like walking into a fairy-tale. Also, I highly recommend the hike from the shrine to Haruna lake. It is difficult, but the view over the lake is amazing.

Nestled in the city of Takasaki, Japan, Lake Haruna is a captivating caldera lake located on Mount Haruna. Encompassed by stunning mountains and verdant scenery, this picturesque lake spans about 5.5 kilometers and offers a serene setting for visitors. The area surrounding the lake boasts various outdoor activities such as winter skating and ice fishing, along with nearby campsites for those seeking an immersive natural experience.
Best place for couples and for families. Lots of awesome activities to do. And very good restaurants nearby. And initial D fans will lobe this place.

Didn’t meet the full expectation but the lake is calm and serene. Lots of free parking. Lots of paddle boats. Lots of horses. Ropeway seems not worth it.

The best place as photo spot during autumn. If you love to take a drive, it’s the best place to take a break. Some local restaurant provides delicious foods and snacks. There are also a very large parking space around. You can also enjoy a horse/horse cart ride.

Locals are so nice and friendly here. Came for an afternoon by the lake and my car refused to start. Luckily, a local mechanic in a green Nissan happened to be nearby and offered to help. Slightly awkward, but got everything handled quickly. I never saw them again, but I’m grateful for their help. Minus a star thanks to cigarette ashes in the tofu at the nearby shop. Maybe he would’ve noticed if he’d actually looked.

Mount Haruna, known for its appearance in the manga Initial D, is not just a single mountain but a collection of sommas centered around it. The area features Lake Haruna and the emerald greenery of Joshu's mountains. Visitors can take a 3-minute ropeway ride from Haruna Kogen Station to the summit station to enjoy breathtaking views. Additionally, the town at the foot of Mount Haruna offers an onsen experience with iron-rich water and a serene atmosphere.
I heard there are to categories of japanese mountains. One called Yama or san and others Mountain. Haruna Yama is very beautiful in every season.

It was a very beautiful mountain ⛰️ where you can climb up by rope way! If the weather is fine, this place has wonderful scenery guaranteed! You’ll see Takasaki and Tokyo, and Mt. Fuji! Come and see the nice scenery of it! Cheers 🥂

I drove to Mount Haruna on Japanese Battleship Haruna's launch day in a rental R33 skyline. It was one of the best days of my life. 2024/12/14.
Leo H — Google review
Mount Haruna offers easy access to stunning summit views via ropeway, with beautiful Lake Haruna in the foreground and distant cityscapes and mountains creating a picturesque panorama. This mountain is famously known as the tofu delivery route from the popular anime Initial D, adding some cultural significance to the natural beauty. The drive around Mount Haruna itself is delightful, passing lovely flower fields and areas where students enjoy nature and fresh mountain air. Taking the ropeway to the summit provides that perfect open-sky feeling and sense of freedom that makes mountain visits so refreshing. It’s a great stop if you’re traveling to Ikaho and want to add some scenic variety to your trip.

The drive up the mountain was a bit difficult for my friend's little car, but it was a really lovely area. Had a nice walk around.

Aside from the fact that Initial D is my favorite anime. This journey and this hike up this mountain was one of the best hikes and journeys, I have ever done in my life. I started from Onogami station, and then made it all the way to the top of mount Haruna right as the sunset. Unfortunately the cable cars weren't operating at the time so i had to climb to the top after hiking all the way up myself. Anyone climbing or exploring around this area. This place is a must.

I was doing my daily jogging around 4-5am and some random 86 just went over 140km/H. How does an 86 go this fast? It's a stock 86 crazy... Anyway 5 star
RENVER — Google review
The closest major train station is takasaki, and if you don't wanna walk 30km to the top, there's a bus that goes all the way to the lake. The actual top is accessible by ropeway for a few hundred yen, and has a decent view. Around the lake is a little town, restaurants, horseback riding, hotel, and pedal boats you can rent. Quiet little place, I really enjoyed it.

Kajika Bridge, located in the Ikaho Onsen area of Shibukawa City, is a picturesque vermilion crossing surrounded by Japanese maple trees. It offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys adorned with red and gold foliage during the autumn season. The bridge is a popular attraction from late October to mid-November when visitors flock to witness the breathtaking scenery. Additionally, special illuminations at night create a magical atmosphere.
The red bridge is small. there were many people taking pictures. I enjoyed walking around ikaho. There are many hot springs here but also it’s a good hiking area.

This graceful Japanese-style bridge in Ikaho is quite beautiful, though smaller than Nikko’s Shinkyo Bridge. It has a classic, refined aesthetic that captures traditional Japanese architecture beautifully and makes for great photography.
Minwoo K — Google review
Stunning autumn folliage. We visited in early November evening after 5:30pm. Many people were enjoying the scenery during this time. The bridge is a 5-10mins stroll from the shrine on top of the Ikaho stone steps. Snacks and hot beverages are available near the bridge.

Ikaho's vermillion Kajika Bridge is a must-visit place in Autumn season in Gunma. This picturesque and stunning view is a perfect background for family portraits during autumn foliage. We went up here by car and there is a free parking space near the bridge. You need to be there before 10am because many cars lined up for this parking space. Some people chose to park on the municipal parking near Idaho stone steps starting point. But we’ve decided to go here first so it is not too crowded. Surprisingly, there’s a lot of people before 10am but we managed to take beautiful pictures. There is a restroom and a small coffee stall near the bridge. You can enjoy the colorful leaves up here. We went down taking the local road for cars and went directly to the starting point of Idaho stone steps. After reaching 365 steps, we walked back to Kajika bridge and went back to our car.
セノウエプリンセス — Google review
It was mid April when I came and so there is minimal crowd for this very popular bridge in autumn. One usually hike up from the stone steps to get here so recommend to also do the open air onsen if you come here post a hike! If you are only here for the IG post, the bridge is quite small so it won't be easy to picture when there is a crowd.
Henry C — Google review
Having said to be one of the areas of inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" with Kajika Bridge being a reference point for the main red bridge depicted in the movie, you can clearly see why when visiting. Although not quite as picturesque as visiting in mid-Autumn, December/Jan is still an excellent time to visit Ikaho Onsen and Kajika Bridge. Well worth the trip up and also combining a visit to the local Onsen.

Ikaho Shrine is a serene 9th-century shrine located in the heart of the town, accessible by climbing 365 steps. These steps were constructed during the late 16th century to provide access to healing springs for injured soldiers. The shrine is situated on a hill above the city and is considered the guardian deity of Ikaho Onsen. With its long history dating back to the early Heian period, it holds significance as an influential shrine.
An interesting temple! You need to climb 365 stairs to reach the main temple. In the meantime, you can enjoy many shops along the way. Food, amusement, drink, onsen. The oden here is also really delicious. But the best food is definitely the soft cream!!!

Small local shrine at the top of the famous ‘365’ steps. Worth the visit if you’re in the area. There are many wonderful smaller details to look out for around the shrine and it has a good view of the town. It is also the start of a walk up the mountain.

The temple was rather OK, but what steal the show is the surrounding shops and village that has a lot of character and vibe. Some buildings are old and shut down, an old memory of the great economy times of the era. I felt nostalgic and trapped in time. It was great that I stopped over to see this place.

This is a cute stairway lined with shops of all kinds and providing incredible views of the surrounding mountains. There are 365 stairs to climb up, and lots of small details to discover along the way. Try not to get too caught up in taking photos, and use the opportunity to set your eyes on a distant horizon. This quaint onsen town was extremely pleasant and enjoyable. There were plenty of souvenir stores, and snack stores selling sweets and pastries. This has to be one of the best walks I have done in Japan. It is quite the arduous journey up the roughly 250 steps. However the fall foliage views mixed with the nighttime lights of a shopping district are simply spectacular. And best of all you can enjoy it and even an outdoor footbath along the way all for free, discounting transportation costs of roughly ¥1000 round trip from Shibukawa JR station.

The Ikaho Toy, Doll and Car Museum is a nostalgic journey through Japan's Showa period, featuring a diverse collection of toys, dolls, and classic cars from the mid to late 20th century. The museum offers an immersive experience with exhibits ranging from teddy bears and traditional dolls to retro console games and vintage Japanese automobiles. Visitors can stroll through the Showa Retro Park Dagashiya Yokocho, a reproduction of streets from 50-60 years ago.
This museum might be a special kind of dante’s circle of hell. As I walked through the museum I saw many exit signs but I did not exit at all. Just when you think you are done, you have entered another museum. When you exit the gift shop you have entered another museum. At the end you will find out how babies are made. A truly unique experience. This museum is definitely worth your money.
Anders S — Google review
I initially expected just a simple toy display, but this museum completely exceeded expectations with its detailed, professional curation. The collection spans multiple floors with incredible variety - toys from Japan’s cathode ray tube era when Astro Boy aired through the pre-smartphone period, complete with recreated game arcades, magazines, and snack areas that authentically capture different time periods. The second floor houses an impressive automotive collection featuring famous Japanese cars from the industry’s beginnings, racing cars, and even vehicles from Initial D, while the first floor includes British Mini models. Beyond the main exhibits, there’s an outdoor park with American movie-style posters, detailed military dioramas that war enthusiasts would love, and a European-style indoor cafe. This museum is far more diverse and engaging than it appears from outside - definitely a must-visit if you’re in Ikaho.
Minwoo K — Google review
My son adored the car collection. If you’re Japanese, you’ll love the nostalgic games. It is bigger than it looks. You have stuff toy from all over the world. You see all the meiji and showa era entertainment toys and arcades. The shop also has good things in it. It’s also interactive at some points. It’s stairs and walking so bring your baby carrier. Someone scratched our car and ran away. The staff was so helpful and ensured that we were attended to.
Pauline M — Google review
This museum offers a wide variety of exhibits, including teddy bears, tin toys, and japanese retro items from the Showa era. You can even play traditional games like 射的 and スマートボール, and we really enjoyed painting キューピーちゃん. The collection also features a wide range of nostalgic cars, including rare classic models, and I ended up spending more time than expected, enjoying every moment until the end.
KOKO O — Google review
Lots of cool and interesting things to see… However, what originally brought me here were road signs advertising a “Chocolate Factory.” It turned out to be a tiny shop in a corner of the museum selling M&Ms and other pre-packaged candy. No chocolate is made here. Like I said, it ended up being a fun experience, but I can’t overlook the false advertising.
Brandon G — Google review
This place is really funny. The museum itself has a lot of stuff from dolls to teddy bears to Japanese WWE items and amazing cars. The items have no sense and you get a tiny little doll that you can paint yourself at the end of the visit. I have been there more than once and it's always a good time.

Ikaho Green Bokujo is a charming petting farm where visitors can interact with various animals, including sheep and dogs. It's a popular spot for families with kids, offering the opportunity to feed goats, horses, and other animals. While some visitors found the cost of activities to be a bit high, many enjoyed their time at the farm. The beautiful fall scenery adds to the experience, making it an ideal destination for a day trip. Additionally, there are opportunities for barbecue offers on-site.
You can see sheep and dog show in this farm. Also you can feed goats, horses, sheep and other animals. Most visitors were families with children but adults can enjoy too. All animals seemed to be well taken care of but some of them looked hungry and irritated.

This a great petting farm to visit with the kids on a nice day. It can get expensive though with the fee to pet each animal at multiple stations though. My kids enjoyed it, so I guess the cost is irrelevant. Oh avoid the Game Center area, because once the kids gravitate towards that well, they will just want to stay there. I just tried to redirect their attention the best I could lol
Aaron E — Google review
Entrance tickets is ¥1500 (adult). There's vege for the animals for sale in the farm at ¥400/cup. Rabbit and guinea pig petting at ¥700/10mins. Quite pricey, and there wasn't much animals. Mostly sheeps and rabbits. Animals are quite well-managed tho! Clean!

It is not a very cheap place to visit, but I suppose it would be a fun way to spend time together, particularly if you have children. Parking is free but in addition to the entrance fee, every single attraction costs extra money. So if you have the time to visit every attraction, it may be worth it to invest in the all access pass. The ice cream and the moumou is deliciousness that is a must-have at this park. Walking the goats around is also pretty fun.

The Yumeji Takehisa Ikaho Memorial Museum is a tribute to the renowned Japanese painter, Yumeji Takehisa, known for his Taisho Roman style. The museum is located in Ikaho, a place he cherished deeply. It showcases his modern illustrations and fashionable patterns that remain popular today. Visitors can explore the retro architecture and interior of his atelier, which also served as the setting for creating Kurofuneya.
If you are a fan of Yumeji, this should be a place you should visit at least once. 1600 yen gets you a pass to the main building featuring collections of Yumeji as well as a live music box demo and some artifacts he himself or people in the era used to use. Located in a very tranquil part of the town. It may be challenging if you don't know the language.

The sounds of the antique piano and music box were also incredibly soothing. This has become one of my favorite places. Thank you very much.

(Translated by Google) I visited this place about a year ago and have always wanted to revisit it. This time, it wasn't during the winter, so I was able to visit the Children's Art Museum as well. (Apparently, Hyde also visited about three years ago.) I love the Baccarat chandelier in the main building (?) - it's very impressive. The last time I visited, there was a stove on, and the scent of the stove perfectly matched the atmosphere inside, making it a very memorable and great experience, so I wanted to come back again. The paintings by Takehisa Yumeji and the Taisho Romantic atmosphere are both wonderful, so I definitely recommend you go. I'd like to visit in the summer someday to see Kurofune-ya.

Handicraft
Daimonya Co., Ltd. is the largest maker of Daruma dolls in a city known for producing 80 percent of these iconic Japanese figurines. The shop, which has been in operation since the Meiji era, offers both traditional and modern versions of the dolls. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience by painting their own Daruma at the workshop, where they receive guidance and learn about the history of these symbolic objects.
Had a great time here! We didn't speak each other's language, but they were so helpful and welcoming anyway. The way the Darumas are made professionally is amazing! And ours didn't turn out anything like that, but they'll be an adorably amateur memento of a fun experience. Thanks Daimonya!

Tried the drama doll face painting workshop today and it was great! You can register hustle free online. During the workshop you get the practice on a sheet of paper before after a demonstration! It is tricky but very much fun! Must visit of you are in Takasaki #
Xhesika — Google review
Obviously you can buy a traditional daruma doll here which is one of the best souvenirs you can get. However you will miss the best part where you can try your first hand experience of painting part of the doll face which is more difficult than it looks. Highly recommended but reservation in advance is a must!
Jimmy W — Google review
Really great painting experience, very hard to get it right and makes you appreciate the craftsmanship
Bill B — Google review
This was such a fun experience! We got to watch a short video about how the daruma are made. And then made our own at the class! The staff are really kind and helpful. Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique class, memory, and Souvenir in the area! You can also buy ready-made daruma of various colors and designs!

Great experience overall. It was a fun activity and you get to learn something about an important aspect of Japanese culture. Recommend

Wonderful experience painting our own Daruma and watching the Master paint so effortlessly. Lovely workshop, super friendly and helpful staff. If only I had a suitcase big enough to take one of the big ones home from the fantastic gift shop! But opting for personalised gifts ones was perfect though!

Park
Takasaki Park, established in 1897, is a public space for leisure activities. The park boasts of several ponds and fountains and is also a popular destination for cherry blossom contemplation during the spring season.
The park and the way to the park is so beautiful with cherry blossom trees. This is a gem!
Hazame S — Google review
Nice park, some turtles, a snow monkey, peacocks, chickens and roosters, doves, big Karp in the pond. Lots of activities for kids including sandpit, playground, slides etc. The only way it could improve is the park is a little dry and missing a lot of grass. Worth visiting for a picnic or drink, sit back and relax.
Pat P — Google review
The park is big and lots of spaces but i was there in the hot summer. So may be in nice weather you will enjoy the sitting and relax by the nature. They have peacocks in cages and also turtles. The nets are so thick that watching them is also a real hard work through the nets 😂. The environment is calm and quiet. In the middle there is a pond ( Japanese style pond) with lots of fishes.
Sadia O — Google review
It’s really so nice place specially the bridge going downwards the river such a beautiful place
Mian A — Google review
This small park in Takasaki is popular for cherry blossom viewing. It looks more like a playground because there isn't any grass, and the wind could blow sand everywhere. There's also a little fountain which shoots water up every once in a while, as well as a bird cage. During cherry blossom times, there will be food stalls set up. Parking around the area is generally paid, and can get crowded during the spring. You may have to park quite far away from the park itself.
Gavin A — Google review
Nice during cherry blossom season, especially at night. Also has a small play area for kids, though it can get pretty dusty because there isn't much grass.

Public park with a playground, some artistic statues, a pond. Fairly good spot for Pokémon go. Plenty of places to sit.

Western restaurant
Art Matché Team Al.ché-cciano, a Western restaurant, took several precautionary measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. They sanitized their tables with alcohol and arranged their seats in private areas, ensuring that guests couldn't sit close to each other. This provided a sense of security while enjoying their meal. Instead of opting for a course menu, customers had the option to order from an à la carte selection, which proved to be both delectable and satisfying.
(Translated by Google) I had the anchovy puttanesca for the daily lunch pasta. The taste was light, but it wasn't bland at all, and I was very satisfied because it was very delicious. It was a little over 1,000 yen, which included a salad and a drink, so it was a reasonable price in my opinion. It was during the day when the restaurant was empty, so I was able to be guided to a seat with a nice view. The ranch soft serve ice cream for dessert was also delicious and highly recommended.

The course meal, made with seasonal ingredients, was delicious! ✨ We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Kanramachi fireworks. 🤞 They also came up with various surprises, which I thought were wonderful. ♪ I'd definitely come back if I had the chance! This is my second time here, having been here with my family shortly after the building was built, and I'm very happy with the reasonable price and the fact that I was able to enjoy lunch while admiring the view. If you're nearby, this is a restaurant with a view that you'll want to come to about once a week. Moreover, a private room for one person is available... Lunch was also a nice platter and I was very satisfied with the taste. (Translated by Google) This was my first time having lunch at this restaurant on the top floor of Takasaki City Hall. It was so popular, with customers lining up before opening with reservations and then on the day. Reservations are recommended as there are limited box seats with window views. I ordered a fresh fish lunch. All the dishes were delicious, and the main course of red sea bream had crispy skin and plump, delicious meat. While the portions looked small in online reviews and photos, the actual meal was actually more filling than I expected. Very oishikatta! The picture is the « PART 2 » of the menu. Very heavy but very good. If you want to feel lighter, go for « PART 1 » (Only disappointment: it was not daruma meat....)

Ever since we touched down in Japan, we didn't have the chance to really try out a good ramen restaurant. Arriving at daruma taishi, there was already a queue outside so we were prepared to eat some good ramen. All of the dishes that we ordered were delightful and the service was also top-notch.
Yong T — Google review
We waited about an hour to eat but it was well worth it! The broth was so thick and smooth and salted to perfection. I was told that their motsu don is very good but I was so full after one serving of ramen. You are able to get meat or ramen refills for an additional charge and it seemed like almost everyone was taking advantage of this. I strongly recommend this ramen to anyone who likes thick, savory ramen!
