Gökpınar Gölü, located in the Hafik, Todurge (Zara), and Gurun districts, is a stunning destination offering various activities such as picnicking, boating, and fishing. The lake's unique turquoise and light blue color along with its clean water make it a special place to relax and enjoy nature. Visitors can also indulge in drinking fresh spring water, buying souvenirs, or renting a boat to explore the area.
This place is one of my absolute top favorites worldwide. Its beauty is beyond this world, a must visit, if you are close to this area. The native people there don't exaggerate, if they speak about it as one of the wonders of the world.

Gök Medrese

Historical place
Gök Medrese, a medieval madrassa school in Sivas, is a stunning example of Seljuk artistic work. Built in 1271, it features intricate designs on its exterior and interior, including sky blue tiles in asymmetrical geometric patterns. Currently undergoing extensive restoration, the madrassa showcases exquisite manuscripts, rugs, and tiles.
Free admission in this antique structure, with organized settings in the rooms with various topics. A touch of blue well serves as its characteristic feature.
CP T — Google review
A seljuk era medrese, well restored and functioning as a museum. The entrance was free. My best place to visit in Sivas, do not miss it.
ANASTASIOS T — Google review
This 13th century medrese was rebuilt by the Turkish government using much of the material from the original medrese. I was most impressed by how they engineered a brilliant system for channeling water into the ablution area and the fountain at the center of the Iwan. Also, most of the windows of the darsgah (classrooms) opened into the central courtyard. Not a single room had a window opening to the outside.. I am pretty sure this was to eliminate distractions...it's a must visit medrese if Sivas is on your bucket list.
A313 — Google review
Great place to visit so much beauty and history to take in. Entrance was free too.

Beautiful Selcuk Turk's architecture. Sadly the renovation is still going on and therefore the inside of the mosque is not open for visits yet.

Interesting place. Free although signs they might charge soon? Took us 15 minutes walking around.
Ford W — Google review
It is a "must see" place, but unfortunately it is currently being renovated. You can still view the outer walls and minarets, but there is scaffolding blocking some of the view of the exquisite tiles and patterns. The corner patterns are particularly impressive.

This is an excellent kebab and lahmacun restaurant. We had mixed kebab (Adana, Sivas kofte and Buftek) and two lahmacuns each. They all and each tasted very well. I ate all three different types of kebabs at other restaurants. I cannot compare these.kebabs to kebabs that I ate at other restaurants, but those that I dined at cannot compare their kebabs with the ones at Sofra restaurant. I would recommend the Sofra restaurant to everyone.

We, 2 people, could not finish it and were sorry for causing waste. Apart from that, the food was delicious, the place was nice and the staff was attentive. I just think we've come to a time where men's toilets are dirty (butts etc.) because I expect toilets not to be like that when everything is this good. Still, I took off one star for this reason 🙃 (Original) 2 kişilik yazan kahvaltı 4 kişilik masada boş yer bırakmadı 😄 4 kişiyi de çok rahat doyururdu.

Adalberto M — Google review
It is said that Taşhan was built / commissioned by Halil Rıfat Pasha, who was the governor of Sivas between 1882 -1885. Its architecture has the art of building specific to the region of the period. There is a beautiful fountain in the middle of the three-entry courtyard of the work, which has a courtyard, two floors, and is made of cut stone. Used as an inn in the past, it is one of the important historical buildings of Sivas. Especially in the summer months, the cloisters of both floors are used as a spacious and decent resting\listening center. Today, there are shops in Taşhan and artisans continue their daily activities.
Umut T — Google review
It is made of cut stone in the second half of the 19th century and has an open courtyard and two floors. The rectangular planned structure has three entrances with an iron wing and a round arch on the east, south and north facades. The floor of the central courtyard is paved with stone blocks. There is an ellipse shaped pool in the middle of the courtyard and two double-headed lions in the middle of the pool in opposite directions. To the south and north of the central courtyard, there are porticoes formed by six large columns with a single cylinder body. Columns in the porticoes are connected to each other with round arches. The rooms behind the portico and the portico are covered with a barrel vault. Externally, every place has a hipped roof and a tile covering. It is still used as a business center and there are cafeterias on the entrance and upper floors. The Sivas Atatürk ve Kongre Müzesi is a cultural museum located in a late Ottoman congress and school building with a courtyard. This ethnography museum is an essential visit for those interested in Turkish history, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about Turkey's diverse culture and rich history. Unfortunately, the exhibits are only available in Turkish, but they provide valuable insights into the country's past.
In the heart of Sivas, where the past whispers secrets to the present, stands the Atatürk Congress & Ethnography Museum. Its walls, imbued with history, cradle stories that echo across the ages. #AtatürkMuseumMagic, for in these halls, history breathes anew.

Really good place to visit. We did so in late Dec 22 on a weekday. Free entry with museum card. Quite a bit to look at, but all information boards are only in Turkish, so take your translator app! Don't forget to look at the art work on the wall behind the museum, and also the statues to the right hand side.

Sifaiye Madrasah is an important medical school that was constructed by the Seljuks in 1218, serving as Anatolia's foremost hospital. Its ornate decorations feature sun/lion and moon/bull motifs, blue Azeri tile work, and a poem composed by the sultan in Arabic. Despite being built to look impressive, it still remains so after 800 years.

A lot of effort has been put into restoring this place and making it into a tourist magnet. It is loaded with shops selling knick-knacks and specialties from the area. There are also coffee shops and a lovely fountain in the centre of the courtyard surrounded by lounge chairs and tables. Very pleasant ambiance. The Tomb of Izzeddin Keykavus has some impressive Islamic Design decoration on the outside, however access within was forbidden.

The dining experience at KOFTECI KIRLI AHMET USTA, a family restaurant, was enjoyable. The food can be described as delicious and satisfying. Instead of using the term "pure meat," it could be said that the dishes are predominantly made from quality cuts of meat. However, some may find that an excessive amount of butter is added to certain dishes. Nonetheless, one cannot deny the delectable taste of their specialty, kofteeeeee!

(Translated by Google) The soup is generous, and the portions are seriously large. The service is quick, and the attention is excellent. I had the kelle paça, but it's not made with its own broth, but with the marinade. I just couldn't like it that way. How can you use tap water for soup? It has no flavor, no salt. The garlic sitting on the table has lost its flavor from waiting. It even smells like garlic. The soup only really tastes good when you add vinegar, lemon, salt, and red pepper flakes. But pouring them on dry bread would probably make it even more flavorful. Send your chef to Rumeli tripe shops or Köroğlu tripe shops and see if they're actually making kelle paça.

Archaeological museum
Sivas Archaeological Museum is a treasure trove of artifacts and findings from various civilizations that once thrived in the region. Housed in an old school building, the museum showcases a wide range of exhibits, from Hittite artifacts to Ottoman manuscripts. Visitors can marvel at notable works such as a Hittite era gold signet ring, an Osman Bey bust, Byzantine gold coins, and Hittite period gold jewelry.
Great place. The best aspect of it is a nice selection of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman coins. All artifacts are really nice and the museum is really clean. Also, there are some really cool excavation pictures, some plans and reconstructions of archaeological sites. It is definitely worth visiting if you come to Sivas!
Elshan S — Google review
The museum has a wide range of items including thousands of years old fossils, native Anatolian civilizations heritage such as Hatti and the Hittites. The most interesting item for me was to see founder of Ottoman’s head Veteran Osman Pascha’s bust. It has an interesting story to learn. ☺️

A museum opened in an old school building. Artifacts from prehistoric times to the Ottoman Empire are on display. Notable works: - Hittite era gold signet ring (amazing details available) - Osman Bey bust and a picture of the whole opening. (I witnessed the opening of a human bust for the first time in the Ottoman period) - Ritual vessel in the form of two bulls in the entrance hall - Byzantine gold coins - Hittite period gold jewelry - Sundials It was very quiet when I visited the museum. You can visit all of them in 1 hour. Entry is free. After visiting the museum, visit the Sivas Craftsmen Museum, which is located outdoors. Then you can visit the Industry School Museum.

Historical landmark
Buruciye Madrasah, a relic from the Seljuk era, boasts a sturdy stone structure and was once a hub of learning. Today, it hosts cultural events within its ancient walls. Visitors can admire the interior and exterior decorations as well as the tile-decorated burial chamber housing the tomb of the madrasah's patron. The site is praised for its tranquil atmosphere and delectable desserts, with rice pudding being highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) It's truly sad that a building as historically and culturally significant as the Buruciye Madrasa is being used as a cafe. The madrasa's atmosphere is invaluable for visitors seeking a glimpse of the past, but the tables, chairs, and coffee aromas overshadow this spirit. Furthermore, the neglected mausoleum within is a grave disrespect for both the madrasa and its history. Such a significant heritage site should be more carefully preserved and valued in its original form. Its use in this way is nothing short of commercializing our cultural memory.

(Translated by Google) A place that lives up to its nickname!. The table next to us left when we arrived. They still hadn't cleared the table when we were leaving. There were also distressing scenes on the table. The women's restroom was clean, the men's section was in disrepair. Meatballs were served with pate, carrot tarator, onion, and salad. I said pate but funny enough, only grated tomatoes were served. The tarator is not even worth tasting. Yogurt is sour and like this. The salad is considered to be high quality, but there is a slice of lemon on it, which I would never give to a customer. Since the onion is just onion, how bad can it be? At least it was fresh. As for the meatballs, they taste much better than I expected. There are 8 pieces in a portion. It is just enough. If you take 1-2 meatballs from those who can't eat at the table, it is even too much. I gave the food 5 stars. The reason is the meatballs. Otherwise, the appetizers are not even 2 stars. Porsiyonda 8 adet geliyor. Tam yetiyor. Masada yiyemeyenlerin 1-2 köftesini alırsanız fazla bile geliyor. Yiyecege 5 yıldız verdim. Sebebi köfte. Yoksa mezeler 2 yildiz bile değil.

There is no way this place will cost 60 TL. The interior is beautifully decorated and contains items from the old industrial school. They also included descriptions of women in prison. Yes, it is a nice museum, but I found the price high. (Original) Muzekart geçmiyor. 60 tl idi fiyatı. Çok pahalı bilet ücretleri. Muzekart 60 tl ve yüzlerce yere girebiliyorsunuz. In this school, where education is provided as a boarding school, there are four vocational departments: Carpenter, Shoemaker, Tailor Shop and Carpet Weaving. II. On the 27th anniversary of Abdulhamid Khan's accession to the throne, that is, in 1903 (between 1 September 1903 and 28 October 1903), a national fair-exhibition was organized in the school by Reşit Âkif Pasha, under the name of Sivas Hamidiye Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent stay at the Sivas Sultan Otel. I had reserved a suite, but when I arrived, I was given two separate rooms. The rooms were small and cramped, and they stank of cigarettes. The air conditioning was broken, and despite contacting the reception numerous times, it was never fixed. The rooms were also dirty, with dust and dirt everywhere. I was very disappointed with the service at the hotel. The staff was unhelpful and unaccommodating. When I asked about getting the air conditioning fixed, they said that they would send someone up, but no one ever came. When I asked for a different room, they said that there were no other rooms available. I would not recommend the Sivas Sultan Otel to anyone. It is a dirty, overpriced hotel with terrible service. I would give it zero stars if I could. Here are some specific examples of the problems I experienced: The rooms were small and cramped. The beds were too small, and there was barely enough space to walk around. The rooms stank of cigarettes. The smell was so strong that it was difficult to breathe. The air conditioning was broken. I contacted the reception numerous times, but it was never fixed. The rooms were dirty. There was dust and dirt everywhere, and the carpets were stained. The service was poor. The staff was unhelpful and unaccommodating. I am very disappointed with my stay at the Sivas Sultan Otel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent hotel Sultan - conveniently located in the center of Sivas. The location of the hotel is convenient both for walking, since a huge number of local attractions are within close reach, and for traveling by car - convenient parking is located right in front of the hotel. The hotel has friendly and helpful staff who were happy to meet all my requests and wishes. The rooms are neat and clean. Room cleaning is daily. All towels are also changed daily. The room has everything you need: TV, air conditioning, el. kettle, safe, hair dryer, wi-fi. In general, if something is not delivered, the hotel staff quickly resolves such situations. The hotel offers a delicious breakfast buffet with a wide variety of dishes. The restaurant and cafe at the hotel have in their menu a large selection of delicious dishes for every taste. Everything is very tasty and pleasantly surprised by the speed of serving. In summary, I can say: it's cozy, clean and comfortable! At any time of the day you feel like a welcome guest here. I definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely come back here again.

We had water with us when we entered the place, we had bought it beforehand since we were coming from a far place. He treated us like we stole the water even though we said it was ours, at the cash register he asked if we were going to pay for the water or should it be on us, even though he knew it was ours. He snapped at the cash register saying we weren't going to bring it from outside. I have never seen someone so disrespectful to customers. While we were there, he was also yelling and fighting with a female customer. When the woman stated a complaint, he yelled at her not to come back then. We should have understood. My advice is don't go. If you go, they charge you more here and there. We ate a portion of ice cream that was 120 TL. He charged 150. It's not clear what he charged for, which was 30 TL. However, the attitude we encountered at the cash register unfortunately overshadowed any positive impressions. The gentleman at the cash register's sarcastic remark that complimentary drinks were only available to customers with large spending amounts was both discourteous and incompatible with corporate hospitality. It's a grave mistake to base a customer's relationship on their spending level. Since the numbers on the seats have been erased over time, I could not find my seat even though I was in the VIP tribune. I request that the seats be renumbered. The toilets inside the stadium could be a little cleaner, the number of cafeterias is sufficient, I also liked that there is a mosque, your prayer does not have to be an accident ☺️ If we evaluate from a sports perspective, the ground maintenance should be done better, during the match, two players from Sivasspor were injured due to the hardness of the ground and had to leave before the end of the first half. The grass and ground of such a stadium with ground heating should be of better quality, thank you. (Original) Stad şehir merkezinde bulunuyor. Stad içerisindeki wc'ler biraz daha temiz olabilir, kafeterya sayısı yeterli, mescid olması ayrıca hoşuma gitti, namazınız kazaya kalmıyor ☺️ Sportif açıdan değerlendirme yapacak olursak, zemin bakımı daha iyi yapılmalı, müsabaka esnasında Sivasspor dan iki futbolcu zeminin azizliginden sakatlanıp ilk yarı bitmeden çıkmak zorunda kaldılar. The Seljuk period holds a significant position in Turkish-Islamic history, and within this era, the exploits of Izzettin Keykavus stand out as revolutionary. The tomb, which is a typical example of Seljuk architectural tradition, is truly remarkable for being situated inside the Madrasa while remaining physically separate both externally and internally. This unique feature distinguishes it from other tombs of that period.

(Translated by Google) The Tomb of I. Izzeddin Keykavus is a historical structure where the tomb of Seljuk Sultan I. Izzeddin Keykavus is located. Here is information about this tomb: Location and History: * It is located in the southern iwan of the Şifahiye Madrasah (Sivas Hospital) in Sivas. * The Şifahiye Madrasah and tomb were built by Sultan I. Izzeddin Keykavus in 1217-1218. He was buried here after his death in 1220. * Some sources state that he was initially sent to Konya to be buried, but was buried in this madrasah in Sivas upon the instructions of his brother I. Alaeddin Keykubad. This situation also led to the incomplete completion of his tomb in Konya. Architectural Features and Decorations: * The tomb forms the southern iwan of Şifahiye Madrasah. The madrasah is 48x68 meters in size and is built of rectangular plan, single-storey cut stone. * The facade of the tomb has the richest glazed brick and mosaic-tile decorations of Seljuk art. * The crown gate is monumental and has an inscription and a foundation deed on it. There are two lion figures symbolizing strength and health in the corners of the crown gate arch. The gate is decorated with elegant motifs in the form of intertwined stars. * It is stated that there are 13 coffins inside the tomb. The tiled coffin of I. İzzeddin Keykavus is located in front of the tomb altar. * Stone, brick and tile materials were used in its construction. Especially in the interior, the glazed brick technique was used and colors frequently used in Seljuk tiles such as turquoise and eggplant purple were preferred. * The artist who decorated the tomb facade is thought to be Ahmet, son of Merendli Bizzi (Bez). Visit Information: * The tomb can be visited free of charge. It is generally not possible to enter the interior, but the door and the exterior can be seen. * It has a historical importance for Sivas, because I. İzzeddin Keykavus is the only Anatolian Seljuk Sultan buried in this city. The I. İzzeddin Keykavus Tomb is an integrated structure with the Şifahiye Madrasa, an important medical education and hospital structure of the Seljuk period, and is an important work reflecting the architectural and artistic understanding of the period. (Original) I. İzzeddin Keykavus Türbesi, Selçuklu Sultanı I. İzzeddin Keykavus'un mezarının bulunduğu tarihi bir yapıdır.

The mosque's interior features minimalistic design with long windows and white walls that create a harmonious light-filled space. (Translated by Google) Between 2002 and 2006, when I was a student, we went to have soup in the mornings, it was the place where the best soups I've ever had in my life were served. I don't know if it's clear anymore, but the taste is still on my palate.

(Translated by Google) 2 places to eat in Sivas. New Ata who wants to eat meatballs is a master in the industry who is inspired by the old Tofaş. It is opposite the old Tofaş. It is opposite the Ibo master. It is opposite Kangal Ağası Konağı (above the vegetable market). People who go out of this place will lose their money and their stomach. This is the only place with its own customer potential, and a liar who says he ate chicken doner during Ramadan. This shop is during Ramadan. This is definitely a non-issue. The first thing is, the second one is that people do not make chicken doner, what kind of a lie is this, do not slander by eating elsewhere, do not mislead people by making bad comments about those who do not know. (Original) sivasta yemek yenecek 2 yer köfte yemek isteyen yeni ata sanayide ilhami usta eski tofaş karşısı döner o ibo ustamın orda kangal ağası konağı (sebze hali üstü )karsisi buranın dışına çıkan kişiler parasına midesine yazik eder lezzetten tatdan ödün vermeyen ve gerçek esnaflık yapan rekabete ihtiyaç duymayan bir yer kendi müşteri potansiyelinde olan tek yer birde tavuk döner yedim ramazanda diyen yalancı şahıs bu dükkan ramazanda kesinlikle açmaz bu 1. si 2.si ise adamlar tavuk döner yapmıyor bu nasıl bir yalancılık karalamaktir başka yerde yiyip iftira atmayın bilmeyenlere karşı kötü yorum yapıp insanlari yanıltmayin

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place we stopped by by chance on the road. As in previous comments, soup and ayran came as a treat. (Ayran in a copper glass) Other offerings include two types of salad, two types of pickles, onion salad, paste and two types of bread. It is really clean and perfect. The service is very fast. The meatballs were light, unique and delicious. This place is recommended, as we will stop by frequently on the way to Sivas from now on. Thank you to the entire friendly team who contributed to such delicious flavors.
