The Railway Museum of Catalonia, located in the town of Vilanova la Geltru, is a family-friendly attraction housed in a former station roundhouse. It boasts an impressive collection of steam, diesel, and electric trains, making it a perfect destination for train enthusiasts. The museum offers various event spaces both indoors and outdoors and is easily accessible from Barcelona, making it an ideal day trip for tourists.
Fantastic museum of railway history in Catalonia showing all things Iberian gauge railway, as well as some exhibits from Spain. Some exhibits are in English as well as Catalan and Spanish. It's easy to spend two hours here and then see the local town. Easy to reach from the local station with connections to Barcelona.

It worths the while if you have small kids. The access is easy(next to the actual Renfe-Rodalies station of Vilanova and next to the bus station). It has a space to leave your bicycle. If you have a Library Card the price is reduced. Kids under 5 don’t pay. The place is spacious and kids can plat inside or outside freely. I saw kids playing hide and seek even. It also has a playground outside and a picnic area. Lots of stuff to see. Interactive monitors make it more fun for the little ones. Water fountains outside and sitting areas. Clean bathrooms. Helpful stuff. The inside playing area is so fun too! The Vilanova library is also a couple of minutes away if you want to visit it as well. Walking distance (5 minutes) from the beach and a huge park as well. It’s a great excursion for kids!

What a truly incredible museum!! The staff were very friendly upon entry. The price to enter was very reasonable. They had information available in Spanish, English, and French! It was very easy to understand and learn. I spent well over an hour exploring the trains, cars, and property.

Great place to visit and learn about the Catalonia railway. Kids visiting were having a great time. The information on the trains and locomotives were very informative and the staff was wonderfully nice and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend if you’re near Vilanova i la Géltru.
Maria P — Google review
It is probably one of Europe's finest steam engine museums. This museum offers an unparalleled journey through the history of industrial innovation. Featuring a vast collection of restored trains, and interactive exhibits, it captivates enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The museum's dedication to preserving these magnificent machines makes it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the golden age of steam power and its profound impact on modern technology. It is a must-see museum near Barcelona! PS. The staff is amazing! Thank you!
Albert B — Google review
Good collection of trains, in a well organised itinerary and with comprehensive explanations. It's possible to go on the footplate, look at the detail and interact with the controls of several steam engines. The indoor museum was also interesting. When we visited on a weekday, however, some of the exhibitions were not functioning. The price was very competitive, and the staff attentive and willing to help. Parking was hard, because the car park next to it seemed to be for regular users only.
Hector G — Google review
I enjoyed my visit here. A good mix of textual information and physical exhibits. Friendly staff.
Des — Google review
The train museum in Catalonia is a must-visit for locomotive enthusiasts and history buffs alike, even if you're coming from just an hour away in Barcelona. Stepping into the museum is like stepping back in time, surrounded by magnificent locomotives and carriages, each whispering tales of Catalonia's rich railway history. The collection is comprehensive and captivating, featuring sleek, modern bullet trains to grand, smoky steam engines. And the best part? You can actually climb aboard some of the steam locomotives, making history come alive. Ticket prices are reasonable, especially considering you have a whole month from purchase to revisit the museum at your leisure. It's perfect for families or anyone who wants to explore the exhibits in multiple visits. Beyond the impressive locomotives, the museum offers a fascinating journey through Catalonia's railway history. Interactive exhibits, informative displays, and historical artifacts paint a vivid picture of how trains shaped the region's landscape, economy, and culture. Whether you're a train enthusiast or just looking for a unique and interesting day trip from Barcelona, the train museum in Catalonia is a winner. With its impressive collection, interactive exhibits, and budget-friendly approach, it's a journey that will leave you enriched and entertained. Bonus Tip: Check the museum's website for special events and activities, which can add another layer of fun to your visit.

The park itself is surrounded by trees and offers a peaceful atmosphere, with free parking available. This is an excel·lent Park for strolling in front of the Mediterranean Sea while terraces, cocktails, bar, music, discoteque and beaches are surrounding you enjoying summer time in Vilanova I La Geltru.

I suppose it is gorgeous in the summer with all the surrounding trees. In February is nice and quiet, the parking is free. There is also a small train station with miniature trains, but, unfortunately they are working only in the summer time. Nice walk by the seaside. Clean and also having public toilets.

Vilanova is a beautiful beach town. It's not as crowded and touristy as some of the other places. As with many beaches in the area, you can sit at a chiringuito (bar set up on the beach) and enjoy a drink, food, and of course gorgeous views. It's so relaxing. What a great way to spend an afternoon or evening!

Pay for parking when visiting so as to not waste hours trying to find free parking. your car will probably get damaged anyway. then enjoy this fantastic area, the park is great for kids as young as two and as old as twelve .. 2 mins from the waters edge and the kids toys are well built.

Great museum. A must see in Vilanova. Not gigantic in size but will show you some interesting things about Vilanova and the fishing community. A super additional show of a famous Vilanova person who built vessels models

Playa del Muerto

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Playa del Muerto is a picturesque and historic beach, known as the first gay nudist beach in the world. Accessible by a scenic hour-long walk or a shorter bus or taxi ride, it offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Visitors should be cautious of rocky paths and changing tides when navigating to this serene destination. The beach attracts a diverse crowd, offering opportunities to make new friends while enjoying the stunning views along the way.
It was my first time to visit the famous nude beach, located about a 45-minute walk south of Sitges, Spain. It was fairly crowded since it's not a huge beach. But I could find a spot among the hundreds of unclothed male bodies to have a resting place for most of the afternoon. As I Sam currently headed back to Sitges again in July 2025, I thought it would be helpful to add more about my previous visit. Perhaps that impression may or may not change. So, we’ll see. The trek to this beach is not dangerous, but you should be wearing good walking shoes, although people generally go there in beach attire, including sandals. Those will work out fine, but tumble at your own risk. Food and drink are available at the kiosk, located half done the inclined pathway to the beach. Nudity is not required, by any means. But about 75% or more of the males who visit the beach do so au poil. A bit one gay stuff does gone on at eye far end (south or right hand) of the beach. More to follow, as I visit it again in July.
David K — Google review
We had seen this place on a few videos. It is a bit of a trek but you get a great view if you go via the golf course. I think the cafe has now gone and we didn’t see the signs so not sure if they had been taken down. We went on a morning so was a bit quiet and seemed to be fairly mixed with men and women and even dogs and kids. The only reason we knew it was the right one was the pride flag painted steps
Glynn W — Google review
Love this beach. Because it is a bit secluded it is not always super packed although on the weekends it might be hard to find space. Has a small bar with all you can need during sunny day. Totally worth hike.
Krzysztof T — Google review
It is worth visiting it once just to experience the picturesque bay landscape and the history since this beach existed since 1930 as the sign says. Many people walk there along the beach about 1 hour. But I didn't like this route so much as it can be muddy, sometimes it's just a few rocks in front of the sea. Alternatively one can take a bus or a taxi (which can save about 40 minutes of walk) to a place above the golf club. From there follow through the bushes. Just use Google Maps. It will be needed to go through the rails. At the beach there is a bar. But it's better to take some food and drinks with you. If you have "aqua boots", take them with you, as there are small stones between the sea and the beach. The sea goes deep very fast. So don't swim far from the coast. There is no bay watch there. The beach is a nude one, but wearing a swimwear is okay.
Thorsten M — Google review
Very nice nudist beach. Gets very busy between 11am and 5pm every sunny day. Unfortunately not accessible by people with mobility issues
Konstantin O — Google review
Omg!! I am in love with that beach!! So quiet, relaxing and clean! A bit of walk though but very much worth it!!! You gotta walk up the mountain and be careful with all the rocks you will be stepping on as they might be tricky and hurt you! Follow the rocky path as shown in the photos and you will end up there! Put in mind that tide changes some times, so when you are coming back after getting down from the mountain some of the land will be covered in water. Depends on the tide. It has not happened to me but to some of my friends. So keep that in mind.
Michael M — Google review
SINCE 1930 A Gay Male Nudist beach primarily, but regularly with quiet str8 couples or the occasional gaggle of loud ‘shouty’ str8 girls hanging out with the ‘fruits’, like bats. Gay girls and everyone is welcome. All kinds of everything on the beach but most folks are in age range late 20s to early 60s. Fitter and younger than Balmains nudista beach because this playa is more remote. You’re left alone to be yourself. You don’t have to go nude but why would you trek all this way and not show off your meat plus two veg or Pepsies and Shierlies. Man Thongs were popular summer 2025. Trainers are best. I’ve walked there in Birkenstocks. Wear rubber shoes to access sea unless your feet are as tough as Rosie the riveter. ACCESS: Me, I take the L2 bus route from the Sitges train station to the upmarket Can Girona residential development. You must inform driver you want Can Girona - €1.50. Bus departs twice per hour at the fifteen minute after/fifteen minute before each hour. Bus journey time 10 minutes. I then walk 15 minutes through the pine forests down to Playa del Muerto. Take a Taxi to closeby the former Atlantia open air discotheque and walk 1.5km up and over a rocky headland. Or shorter walk from Can Girona. The promenade walk from Sitges takes 45 minutes. I prefer to walk back to Sitges in the evening. Mountain bikes are an option. Some ‘alpha male’ couples paddle in like Viking raiders in Decathlon Kayaks and kick sand up. Train Danger: Don’t cross railway track when fast moving trains approach. STOP. Raise your arm allowing the train driver to assess you as a lesser risk. NEVER cross railway as a train approaches- you might encourage some fool to follow your bad example. Beach Bar: Mid May - Early October Chirungay beach bar is well run by family Vegas. They serve fresh salads and refreshments: Mojito Cava Sangria Cola Aqua Cerveza - with/without ice. Parasols Rent an excellent parasol for €10, a lounger €15. Don’t bring a tent or TEMU tent chair or you’ll be asked not to use them. Space on the beach is limited. By all means bring your own parasol but if it’s cheap it will break with the first gust of wind and you’ll look silly. Time: Busy 11.00hrs-18.00hrs. Security: Yes you can visit solo. Your stuff is safer here than at any place else in Sitges. The Beach Bar team are vigilant for ‘wrong ‘uns’ who avoid this place but your property is your responsibility. Lots of folks visit for half a day before flying out of BCN el Prat. WC: Bring a compostable doggy poo poo bag for your number two, then bring it home or dig a hole and bury it. A pee pee in the wet sand or offshore while skinny dipping. Other attractions: YES. There’s an expansive Mediterranean pine forest across the busy train tracks. Very busy afternoons early evenings. Man caves and open air amphitheater of fun at the far end of beach. Bar terrace is the ideal place to hangout with your new best friend necking beers or each other. SWIM SAFETY: At your own risk because there is no lifeguard. Safe swimming inshore. Farther out there are currents which might cause issues for novice swimmers. Give my review a like if you feel you’ve got a good overview of Playa del Muerto.
Ian W — Google review
It takes a lot of patience, courage and resolve to come all the way to this secluded spot on the rocky coast south of Sitges. If you like a short adventure on your way to a beach, this place is for you. If you don't like to hike on rocks for an hour, it isn't. For those who take the plunge, you will be rewarded with a smaller crowd than the beaches in the center of town and a vastly more picturesque setting. The crowd is varied, gay and straight, nudist and clothed. It's not exclusively one thing or another, even if the signs say so.

Even if pizza isn't your go-to dish, the Italian menu features other delectable choices that are sure to please any palate. Great pizzeria with some gluten free options. If you love pizza you'll find a lot of variations here. If you don't - other Italian food is also lovely here. I'm not a big pizza fan but it's really tasty here. Also tried burrata - it was fresh and delicious 😋 Service is usually good as well, sometimes it can be slow when they have a lot of customers.

Restaurant Ceferino offers a unique "Africa colonial" atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a safari suit. It's a place where individuals gather to portray themselves as more than just the biggest fish in a small pond. The hotel is described as lovely, with excellent rooms and professional service. The restaurant is highlighted for its delicious food and great service, despite not being the most affordable option. Additionally, it boasts an ideal location.
Top level of Club, Pub or bar with great level in Vilanova I la Geltrú and around. With good music, great atmosphere and people walking on the night, and day, this is a perfect place for your pleasure and enjoyment!

The food was good. On Saturday, we had buñuelos. For me, they were not really buñuelos but a piece of fish in batter. The croquetas were fine, and we also tried what they call torradas, which was good. On Sunday, the kitchen was closed, so only cold dishes were available. One surprising aspect was being told that menus in Spanish were not provided because the Catalan government (La Generalitat) supposedly doesn’t allow it. After looking into it, we found this wasn’t true. However, when I later asked another waitress, she simply handed me a Spanish menu. The whole situation with the menus took away from the experience.

10/10 spectacular experience with perfect service and ambience. Wonderful menu options, the fish is sublime and the cod fritters for starters are heavenly. A must if you’re in the area.

The place has a kind of "Africa colonial" vibe, perfect place for a safari suit! It's where all the biggest fish in the smallest pond meet to pretend to be somebody and not just the biggest fish in the smallest pond. 10/10, a real authentic look into the lives of nobodies trying to be somebody.

El Faro Cafè is a delightful seaside gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. Guests rave about the freshness of the seafood, exemplified by dishes like cazuelita marinera, paired perfectly with a crisp bottle of Blanc Pescador. The dessert selection, particularly pears in red wine with cinnamon ice cream, provides a sweet conclusion to any meal. The establishment prides itself on using local ingredients, skillfully prepared by two brothers who truly understand flavor.
Italian coffee, Segafredo, wonderful atmosphere, handmade food, small family business. Cheap menu. Outside tables for dogs. At the harbour, by the sea. Beautiful people, beautiful place!

I was surpriced for the very good service, exellent quality of the three plates and fine red vine, half a bottle - all included in the price of 13,00 € for the “ Menu del día”. It means compleate lunch; starter, main plate and desert. Also bread and wine or other drinks. Can I recommend, yes, sure I can.

Such a lovely spot by the sea! We had the cazuelita marinera, a bottle of Blanc Pescador, and the pears in red wine with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. The seafood was so fresh, the wine crisp and refreshing, and the dessert the perfect finish. Our server Carmen was wonderful — she only spoke Spanish, but made everything easy for us to understand and was so kind and attentive. The food is prepared by two brothers using local ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference. The whole evening felt relaxed and welcoming.

What a great surprise! We've been ignoring this place for over 2 years and I am so sorry now for missing out on so many menus del dia 😁 unforgivable considering how close they are to my home. All 3 items on menu del dia were great, i really enjoyed all of it. I was carried away and only took picture of our starters which were macaronis and zucchini and goat cheese quiche. Then we had dorada, which i loved so much and cordero estofado, cordero was great and didn't have that specific unpleasant lamb taste, whuch u get when the cook doesn't know what he's doing. And another thing that came as a surprise was their deserts - i appreciated that apple-canella twist on ny tiramissu, and my husband had simple but hearty "pudin", which reminded us of torrejas. We will come now very often. Great menu del dia for unbeatable price. And the service super friendly and attentive.

Their thin-crust pizza is some of the best I've ever had, and we probably told the waitress how good everything was three or four times (that pizza was no small feat). Not only that, the salads, as simple as they may seem, were also delicious. As a final note, I'd like to emphasize that the place was very clean. It's something we often take for granted, but it's essential. In conclusion, I'm absolutely certain that Stirling is one of those hidden gems worth returning to.

Incredible. Had a wonderful evening here. Before talking about the amazing food, the service has been marvellous. Great advice, very personal, was very arranging as we were with a baby. Now the food ! High quality tapas, authentic food, great portions. Had all the classics tapas plus seafood, was perfect. Also the desserts: tarte tatin with the turron ice cream is a must have. Overall thank you Genil, we all had a wonderful night, the best place to try in Vilanova.

The Can Papiol Romanticism Museum is a historical attraction located in the charming area of Villanova. Visitors are treated to an ornate mansion filled with artifacts and decor from the 19th-century society, highlighting the lifestyle of influential families during that era. Daily tours are available in English, showcasing intriguing details about the history and objects within the house. This museum offers a fascinating glimpse into how affluent individuals lived centuries ago and comes highly recommended for those interested in exploring the romanticism period.
Interesting tour guide visit around an historical house built in S. XIX. It lasts one hour and it requires you to book in advance. It is highly recommended!

Guided tour only. Starts every hour. Usually just Spanish and Catalan but sometimes the staff can speak English. Can Papiol is a late 18th-century manor house in the historic center of Vilanova i la Geltrú. It is currently opened as a museum that shows the daily life of a wealthy family through period furnishings and decorative arts.

Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer is a 19th-century museum and library renowned for its impressive international collection of paintings, sculptures, and other works. The museum boasts an excellent assortment of Catalan modernist paintings and currently exhibits the storage of the Prado museum. Visitors can enjoy free admission on the first Sunday of each month, including guided tours at 12 pm. Despite its small size, this museum surprises visitors with its extensive art collection.
A really nice museum considering that Villanova is not a big city. I was surprised with the art and renovation
Tsky — Google review
Wonderful way to spend afternoon. The collection is much richer than expected. It includes a strong focus on Catalan art from the 19th and 20th centuries, with works by Rusiñol, Casas, Nonell, Mir, and others. Alongside this, there are Baroque paintings on loan from the Prado, an Egyptian collection, and objects from Asia, the Philippines, and pre-Columbian America. The historic library is also impressive. Entry is inexpensive (free on the first Sunday of the month). The museum is quiet, not crowded, and can be enjoyed in about 1–2 hours.
Natalia L — Google review
This museum absolutely blew me away! What a fantastic experience and - because of the pandemic - there were very few visitors. You will feel like you have the whole place to yourself. Here art from across the centuries is displayed in grand style. I loved the library as well and hope that people get access to the volumes displayed. #VilanovaIlageltru

Very good collection of Catalan modernist paintings. Together with the storage of the Prado museum exhibited currently, it is worth paying a visit. The activity initially planned for children on September the 7th should have been organized in advanced so as to be able to carry it out, in spite of the last minute registrations. I hope we can enjoy it next month.

Way too much focus on religious theme for my liking, but if you're a fan it may be a feast for you. Some may find the 2 early works by Picasso interesting, also there's 2 by Goya that stand out. If you find yourself in Catalonia, make sure to stop by Pizzeria Espai de la Carme for an unforgettable dining experience. Food is good, some traditional dishes... But we went there for a birthday event. They charged us 7 menus instead of 6. Close than 25€ mistake. For a high end restaurant like this, we could expect them to note properly what is served... fortunately, one of us found out ultimately, just before we left. They just said "ah yes, you're right". Printed the new ticket and that's all... They did not even offer a coffee or something for the mistake... while we let around 300€. I don't believe they did it on purpose, we did not expect many things, a mistake could have happened... but we would have appreciated, for a great restaurant, that they would at minimum offer sincere apologies...
J S — Google review
Hadn't been there for a few years, had good memories, sadly welcomed back with an impossibly rapid, therefore obviously precooked, duck served cold and a minute after our starter, literally. Couple that with a small risotto portion... this place has definitely seen better days, won't be going back in a hurry, if ever.

Restaurant GAS26 is an exceptional eatery with a remarkable team on a calm conclusion of the season night. The cuisine offered is inventive and delightful, showcasing the flavors of Catalonia. The menu predominantly consists of traditional Catalan dishes, but the staff is more than willing to explicate them in English if necessary. This restaurant comes highly suggested due to its mouthwatering food and congenial service. It provides excellent value for money, especially its reasonably priced set menu del dia.
If you're passing by or leaving near, this restaurant is worth a try. The food is delicious, the staff is great, you could feel that they loved their job and the custumer only benefits from this. Lotus, a renowned establishment in Geltru, boasts an unconventional and diverse interior adorned with an assortment of furniture. To fully appreciate the ambiance, one must head to the terrace located in plaza Lledoners. Although lacking a complete kitchen setup, Lotus has evolved significantly from its humble beginnings as a place that primarily served simple tostadas and salads. Today, it offers an array of intriguing menu choices. Notably, their tacos are exceptional - zesty and delectable.

Lotus is a classic of the Geltru. An eclectic interior - mixmax of random bits of furniture - the best place is the terrace out in plaza Lledoners. Note They do not have full kitchen facilities however It has changed much from the days when it basically only served tostadas and simple salads. Many interesting options available. Nestled in the charming old quarter of Vilanova la Geltru, Restaurant Hostal la Treva is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of traditional dining. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, this braseria offers an impressive menu featuring exceptional meats like entrana, alongside delectable starters such as artichoke chips and cod. Very nice restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere. Waiters are running busy, but still friendly. It's a pleasure to see as they serve people. Food is amazing. Restaurant is located in the old authentic area of Villanova with very nice narrow streets and cozy squares. I enjoyed this trip to La Treva.

I supose really should be nearer 5 star than 4.. Excellent meats, we had the entraña, about the best I've ever had. I can never understand why this place is not packed with people, we've eaten here several times. Always been first class, very reasonably priced, excellent service, extensive wine list, which I believe comes from their own bodega. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Pizzeria Tuttigusti in Vilanova is a delightful gem that stands out not only for its delicious pizzas but also for its charming ambiance. The decor is clean and thoughtfully designed, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff, particularly the friendly servers, enhance the experience with their warm smiles and attentive service. They take the time to explain each pizza's ingredients, ensuring customers feel valued and informed.
Good pizza, friendly staff, and good location with very good price
Iya A — Google review
The pizza is good, but it is served cold or just a little over warm... so by the time you bite into your second piece, it has gone completely cold and isn't too enjoyable... I think it's because the oven is going on and off every time a customer comes, so it never gets a chance to maintain enough temperature to heat the pizza up properly... also, I observed that there is no timer on the oven, it's guessed by the staff who are obviously good people but not particularly disciplined.

Xiringuito Miramar is a popular beachfront restaurant located at Platja de Sant Gervasi in Vilanova la Geltru. The place offers amazing food and products, with a great selection of paella and seafood known for their excellent quality and service. While the location right on the beach provides wonderful views over the beaches and sea, it's advisable to book a table in advance due to its popularity. Visitors have praised the top-quality food, great atmosphere, and attentive service at this restaurant.
Great restaurant! Right on the Beach with fresh seafood✨ I particularly love their first of the day - pan fried turbot 🐟🐟
Cheuk L — Google review
I liked the place, they even accommodated my request to order a paella for one person, but the food wasn’t amazing for its price. There was a little dead fly in my wine (I ordered a glass only), and they changed (but still charged me). And all the large clams in the paella were interestingly empty. And beware, every extra thing costs excessive: 1) I asked just one scoop of vanilla ice cream for my son and it was charged 5€!! 2) I asked to take away the food we couldn’t finish, another 1€. 3) While eating the paella I wanted a little bit of alioli, another 2,8€. I don’t think I will return.
Bilgehan U — Google review
Amazing food and products! Great location (right on the beach). Because of its popularity, the place was full, I therefore advise you to book your table in advance. Only bad thing is that we kindly got "kicked out" because the time of the second round had come. They should have told us beforehand that our time was counted.

Very good food! We always come here with friends and family :) The only thing: They changed the deserts a bit a while ago (now the Tiramisu was without chocolate pieces) and it was better before! Love the place!
Anjaaa — Google review
The positives are the views. The food is good but far from amazing and overpriced! 17 € for 10 calamari rings and 1.90€ per person for bread that we didn’t order or eat! These methods of increasing the bill leave a bad taste in your mouth after an otherwise pleasant day.

Great beach all round. Safe for kids as the ground slopes very gently in the water and you can safely walk out quite a distance. Lovely promenade so you can relax and watch the beach from a selection of cafes and restaurants, or from the ice-cream parlour. No big hotels, strictly local feel, though very welcoming. You can always find a place, even at the peak weekends when it does get busy.

Sant Gervasi Beach is a serene and tranquil Blue Flag city beach, protected by breakwaters. It features showers, snack bars and lifeguards during the season. Although parking close to the beach might be challenging for some visitors, it guarantees a peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for those seeking respite from busy crowds.

Saurabh W — Google review
Beautiful beach, walk and views. However, in winter, the parking is very unsafe. We got robbed - broken window + stealing. We dont know if it was pure coincidence but the area behind the beach is not well kept. It's not very clean, lots of overgrown plants, looks sketchy. You don't have a good visual of the parking lot either. Keep that in mind.
Dafne — Google review
This is a small, intimate, family beach with only the most essential services, it has an aura of peace and safety. The beach is flat, the sand is fine, and the seafloor slopes gently. It's almost the last beach of Vilanova i La Geltru - except for the slightly separated naturist beach just off to the side. The only caveat is that the train runs behind the beach every so often but after the first hour we hardly noticed it. There's a car park, cycle parking and motorbike parking, and a restaurant with a terrace & rooftop dining. Not quite quaint, but closer to it than many beaches in the area.

Unusual sculpture by Oscar Estruga along the beach in Vilanova. As it is a popular hangout for local fishermen, it can be difficult to get a pic or selfie of the structure without someone or something else in the pic. Nice walk out to see it in the sunset.
Howard W — Google review
Pasífae is a 1993 sculpture by Óscar Estruga. It depicts the Greek myth of Pasiphaë, the wife of King Minos of Crete. Poseidon sent a magnificent white bull to Minos as a sign of favor, expecting it to be sacrificed in his honor. However, Minos kept the bull for himself, angering the god. As punishment, Poseidon cursed Pasiphaë to develop an uncontrollable desire for the bull. To fulfill her infatuation, she enlisted the help of the inventor Daedalus, who constructed a hollow wooden cow where she could hide and mate with the bull. This union resulted in the birth of the Minotaur, a creature with the body of a man and the head of a bull, later confined in the Labyrinth. The sculpture represents this myth, showing the cow with the figure of Pasiphaë inside, embodying themes of divine wrath, human folly, and the blending of the mortal and the monstrous. The text below the sculpture says “Our city, bathed by the same sea that bathes Crete, recognizes itself in the Mediterranean civilization. “Pasiphaë, daughter of the Sun, suffered a mad passion for the whitest bull in the herd of her husband Minos, king of Crete.”

There is a hidden and beautiful tower located in Vilanova la Geltru that is worth visiting. This historical landmark, known as Torre d'Enveja, is both free to enter and easily accessible to the public. It offers a unique opportunity to explore a piece of history in this less crowded corner of the city. The tower's significance lies in its historical value, showcasing the rich heritage of Vilanova la Geltru.
A neat old tower but there's no informational sign or anything. Worth a quick look if you're in the area. It's in a nice little park. Here is what Vilanova's website has to say about it: "The tower is a fortification of the castle of Enveja square, this one documented in 1278. The latest archaeological studies date the tower to the 10th century, but since then it has been rebuilt on several occasions. It is nearly 12 m high and at the base, the walls are 90 cm and truncated. Legend says that the tower was conquered on Saint John's Day in 1125, which led to the rebuilding of the hermitage, but history only shows that it already existed in 1290 and that it was the chapel of the castle d'Enveja"

And the food….. of course the food was first class. Delicious and perfectly presented. This place really has it all. You must go there, today!

really a TOP restaurant! everything is right here! the atmosphere, the class, the food! and the service! this is real dining at a top location with star food!! fantastic and an absolute must, price-wise certainly not expensive! from about €30,- but look at the map and be surprised! even from abroad once ordered a bottle of champagne for friends who were dining there! and it was no problem. in short, compliments!

We loved this place so much that we ate here twice during our stay in Vilanova! The seafood is incredibly fresh, and every dish was outstanding. The paella was flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the wine selection complemented the meal beautifully. On top of that, the staff was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for fantastic seafood in a friendly atmosphere!

Lack or service ruined lunch. They put way too much pepper powder on fried fish. Also calamar were gummy. It took almost 1 hour to get food. Our fish was good but needed lemon at least. Couldn’t even get a serving spoon. Bored and hungry would be how we felt.
Nik R — Google review
Probably the freshest fish and seafood you will ever try. Sardines like they’re supposed to taste, pulpo al dente, paella rich yet light. Great family service and a dining experience more elegant than it deserves to be. And try the shrimp, unique to Vilanov, delicate and fresh. highly recommended
Scott C — Google review
If you want a proper fresh fish and seafood experience, this is the place. You pick your fish and/or seafood from the counter as if you were at a market. Depending on what you pick you will be given options of preparations. Order your drinks and sides, sit down at at a table and then enjoy the lovely food once it arrives.
Julia S — Google review
Fresh produce but be very careful with the quantity and type of produce they try to (over)sell you. We ended up paying 130€ for two. I don’t mind paying that price but not when the only thing you get is basic preparation and a noisy and outdated dining room.

The La Llotja seafood restaurant is located on the seafront of Vilanova i la Geltrú, right next to the Ceferino hotel. It's perfect to go with family or friends on a Saturday night, even in the winter. The seafood and fish are very fresh and affordable. I recommend you try the sea bass.

Excellent food and right price. U can choose your fish and u pay by weight. Go and enjoy
Roberto V — Google review
Amazing food at very reasonable prices! Their fish and shellfish are top notch and very fresh - they'll tell you if anything is frozen, too. You go to where they have all the fish and select what you want, then say how you want it cooked. Apart from the fact that one of the owners tried to convince us to get more stuff than we wanted, and put it on our plates, she stepped back once we told her we didn't want it. Everything else was amazing, and we had a really good wine (La Descarada) that we can recommend wholeheartedly!

Historic Walking Areas
The archive Castell de la Geltrú and its environs hold the utmost fascination in the ancient La Geltru town. The most captivating aspect lies within its historical core, where one can find a plethora of intriguing elements. This includes the surrounding area, which is particularly engrossing. The appeal of this location stems from its rich history and cultural significance. Exploring this old town offers an array of captivating sights and experiences that are truly remarkable.
Not much to see. I didn't go inside
Kent W — Google review
it's called a 'castle', but it has no watchtowers, no moat, and no crocodiles. It's just an old building with no possibility to visit it inside. But it also doesn't have a dungeon, so it's not worth it.
El D — Google review
Although it's very spacious and it's kinda cold for people that like it, it's romanticism style misses some points and the shapes and forms create a simple form that is not too attractive to the eye counted in architectural design. It has too little too small windows and it doesn't translate to a good sensation of light. The castle resembling a church has an overall poor design technique and doesn't pop to the eye when seen. It has some interesting history but doesn't go further than that.
Didac T — Google review

I haven't been there yet but to set the record straight this building was a medieval fortress (not a castle) and now houses a regional history collection. I looked it up since I'm an architect and the style intrigued me. From wiki: The architecture is a fascinating blend of Romanesque and Gothic elements. The windows on the southern façade, adorned with intricate interlacing patterns and vegetal motifs, showcase the transition from Romanesque to Gothic design. Two of these windows date back to the late 13th century, while the others were added in the 14th century. Despite its extensive restoration, Castell de la Geltrú retains a sense of historical authenticity. The base of the square tower, located at the eastern end of the façade, is believed to be the oldest part of the structure, dating back to the 12th century. This tower likely stands on the remains of an earlier defensive structure, adding to the site's historical intrigue. A Modern Role Today, Castell de la Geltrú serves a dual purpose as a historical monument and a functional archive. Since 1997, it has housed the Comarcal Archive of Garraf, preserving the region's historical documents and records. This modern function ensures that the castle remains a vibrant part of the community, connecting the past with the present.

Lovely place. The owner is a real character, and the concept of what they do is unique in Vilanova. He puts a load of wine on the table, and you taste them all until you find the one that you like the most... he has great meat, and what we ate was both well presented and tasted great. Dinner in Vilanova can only be with Ramon and his wonderful family. Go, drink, talk, appreciate. That little square, the evening we had there, will hold a special place in our hearts forever. We found an old postcard (below) at Sant Antoni market. It’s now framed in our house - a meal that good needed commemorating. Ramon el mejor, del mundo!! Thank you a million times to you, your fantastic son in law (with the flawless English) and talented wife for the hospitality, fine wine and best food in Catalonia!

Loved this place. Set in a small square by a church, that you really have to look for, you don’t just come across it, this restaurant is superb! They are small and family run (one serving, one cooking) and the food is delicious. When we asked for wine, they brought 6 bottles to the table and asked us to try them all and pick our favourite. The suckling pork ribs were divine! The same thing happened with the after dinner shot, where we were presented with a tray of liquor to help our selves to! Thanks a lot for having us, would certainly return if I was in the area!!

First impressions were good. Nice ambiance. We were sat down pretty much straight away, then we waited for around ten to fifteen minutes before the waiter approached us for any drinks. Ordered the food. My wife had the sea bass which was nice my son had a simple chicken dish I had the cod cheeks. The cod cheeks weren't to my liking at all. I wasn't sure if it was the fish was off or it was just a poor choice. I immediately informed the waiter. The waiter didn't seem to want to resolve the issue. I did ask for alternative dish but I don't think they could be bothered because they were already struggling to deal with the other customers So I was left without food, the worse thing was they knew it and did absolutely nothing. They charged me for all of the dishes even though they took away the dish I did not like. Really really poor service overall.

Additionally, it features a large terrace area during summer and an indoor space with amazing views.

Iconic beachside restaurant of Vilanova. During the summer has large terrace area for restaurant and sundown chillout drinks. Pleasant indoor area on first floor with amazing view. Mid week fixed menu of 20 euros. Good value for money. I had seafood tempura and the seafood paella with squid ink - very good indeed. Service attentive. Has its own large carpark. Recomended.

The setting here is undeniably beautiful with the seaside view. It id stunning and creates a great atmosphere, especially around sunset. The service was friendly and attentive, and a few of the dishes we tried were well-executed. The fish dish is expansive but with of the try. The ribeye steak fell short, lacking the flavor and tenderness you’d expect for the price, which made it feel like poor value. We were also caught off guard by a loud event on a Wednesday night, which made it difficult to have a proper conversation. While the ambiance and service are solid, the overall value-for-money doesn’t quite hold up. Perhaps not the best pick for a nice meal.

Delicious food and a great value. The staff were really nice too. My friend and I had hummus, baba ganush, stuffed grape leaves, karma, another dish and yummy smoothies. It was more than enough food, all for under €30. There was seating both inside and out in a quiet plaza.

We weren't sure about the restaurant but taking a leap of faith we went ahead and booked it. The lady server was very courteous and showed us our table. The menu arrived and the server took our drinks order quickly. I think she was the only one looking after 5 tables and she was very quick. We chose the menu. The letters in the menu is very tiny, that's the only downside. My wife and sister in law decided the menu. The Lamb Tagine, and the Mixed Carne Platter, Basmati rice and My Beef with Rice was simply out of this world. Absolutely stunning flavours and every dish was just beautifully prepared. It was so good that we went twice to dine there. If you are in Vilanova give this place a try, I assure you wouldn't be disappointed.
