The Gouda Cheese Experience, established in 2020, is an interactive cheese museum located in the heart of Gouda. The experience offers an engaging journey through the world of Gouda cheese, featuring a beautifully animated movie and various rooms focusing on different aspects of this renowned cheese. Visitors can delve into the history of Gouda cheese, learn about traditional techniques such as the age-old hand clap, and indulge in tasting sessions.
It was much better than what I expected. And yes, I became a Cheese Master!
Place holds very interesting facts and history. There are a couple facts that are not quite accurate.
The cheese tasting is good. Although, it would be much better if part of the tour was not so automated.
Oh, and if you think you know how to pronounce "Gouda", think again!

I had a fantastic time at the Gouda Cheese Experience! I actually arrived a little early, and the manager was already there, kindly waiting to open up. Instead of just brushing me off until opening time, he chatted with me for a good ten minutes — we talked about where I was from, world issues, and of course, cheese. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really set the tone for the whole visit.
Inside, the experience is both interactive and informative. The manager encouraged me to fill out the little cheese-themed activity sheet they give you, and I'm glad I did — it made me engage more with the exhibits. I ended up spending about 1.5 hours going through everything and reading all the displays. There was someone who rushed through in like 10 minutes, but honestly, this isn’t something to speed through. You get much more out of it by taking your time. Also, during the tour, if you answer all the answers on your paper, you get to become a "cheese master." 😁
At the end of the tour, there’s a great cheese tasting session, and you also have the chance to buy some cheese. Just a heads-up: if you're flying outside of Europe, you can’t bring back the full cheese wheels due to customs regulations. But the vacuum-sealed cheese is totally fine to bring home. I bought a wheel for myself and ended up snacking on it during my drive across the Netherlands — and it was delicious!
Highly recommend this experience if you're in Gouda. Great staff, great cheese, and a great way to learn about a big part of Dutch culture.
We had a surprisingly good time here, learning all about Gouda, the cheese and the town! The exhibits were entertaining, educational, and engaging! Service at the front desk and during the cheese tasting was very professional and friendly. Our whole family highly recommends this experience!
So much fun. It was so hot in the museum but it does mention that as you’re going in.

I enjoyed this very much. They make it interactive with a quiz while you are going through. It is perfect for taking kids. The options for fun pictures at the end is a neat idea. Tasting cheese is always a plus.
A very fun experience outlining the process of Cheese making and history of Cheese trade in Gouda. There is cheese tasting with 5 cubes at the end of the experience. I could taste all the things narration was talking about for each Cheese cube. It is satisfying to sense what is said. They made it engaging with a quiz and stamp collection. In the end for the people who get all right will be given a badge of Cheese Master. The kid in me was very happy collecting it. :D
Fun, but definitely oriented to families. The last room before tasting was very crowded and there were kids being kids (crying ect.) so my patience was waning. Now we know so much about cheese. The beer afterwards was awesome.

De Goudse Waag, also known as the Weighing House, is a historic 17th-century building in Gouda. It was originally used to weigh cheese for tax purposes during the traditional cheese market in the Middle Ages. Today, it serves as a tourist information center, Cheese and Crafts Museum, and a shop selling local Gouda cheese and crafts.

Visiting the Gouda Cheese Market on Thursday was an incredible experience! The market is a delightful blend of tradition and local culture.
The variety of cheeses on display was astounding, and the vendors were very knowledgeable and friendly, eager to share information about their products. I had the opportunity to sample some delicious cheeses and even learned about the cheese-making process.
The atmosphere was vibrant, with live demonstrations and traditional Dutch costumes adding to the charm. There were also other local products available.
Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the authentic taste and culture of Gouda!..
This is a very dense museum that packs a ton of information into its three floors. Using voluminous audio guides and written text you can spend hours there poring through the information of the history of Gouda the town, Gouda the cheese and very detailed information on the historical building itself. Being in the building itself was my favorite part as it still feels old and like it can be used for weighing cheese even today. I loved just spending time getting to know about everything and halfway through I paid a little extra for some cheese tasting, it was a great experience.

Nice small museum with 2 floors. The 1st as a cheese tasting area, where Hans welcomes you, offers 3 types of cheeses and explains briefly a bit of history. It was nice to have this interaction. There is an audio tour with different spots explaining pipe making, ceramic making, candle making and gouda as a city history. Then up to the 2nd floor with more audio guidance on how cheese is made in every step with all the tools used in older times. Quite nice and the staff is friendly. I usually like more human interaction especially when talking about such interesting things. All on audio so that you keep it in mind. Shop on the first floor.
What an experience to witness the culture of Gouda which they still showcase! Amazing I must say!
I decided to visit Gouda based on the positive comments red about this warehouse. Pleasant experiences, with an unexpected complete audio guide. The amount of info given during the tour is more than impressive, and it is fascinating to know all about the warehouse story and about the making of Gouda cheese. I also asked for the cheese tasting experience…cheese tasting with a member of the staff giving full explanation of proposed cheese and chatting about some fanny curiosity of this town. It really was worth a visit!!!
We went to see where the cheese we like so much came from. It is a picturesque town that would be great for a day trip. There are canal cruises, cheese museum, Stadhuis and Cathedral that should not be missed. Also the cheese shop where there are a myriad of flavours of cheese... Even vegan cheese. Samples of everything that is on sale is available (as it should be). We left with truffle, garlic and regular Gouda small wheels of cheese. We were lucky and found parking a short walk away on the street near to a canal which is pricey as is the norm in the Netherlands.

Biercafé De Goudse Eend is a great spot for beer lovers visiting Gouda. They offer a small but solid selection of craft beers on tap, along with an extremely wide variety of bottled beers, which is truly impressive. You can even browse their full beer list on their website.
They also serve their own house beer in cans, which adds a nice touch to the experience. It would be even better if their house beer was also available as a fresh draft, to enjoy it at its best.

A fantastic place with a huge choice of beers. Historic building and quirky decor - never seen so many ducks ! Super friendly owner too - very down to earth for an international tv star 😀 - and a nice pub dog as a bonus. An absolute must visit if you like beer that's not the usual lager etc. As a lover of micropubs at home in the UK, this was like a home from home. Been in the general area for 8 days and this was easily the best place I've been to.

This was a perfect end of our day - the service was extremely kind and well informed - all recommendations were to the point and tailored for us. The cheese plate was delicious and we got details about the origin and age of each cheese in German ;). Thanks a lot! Highly recommend this cozy bar with self brewed IPAs!

Awesome place near the Markt. Their beer list is phenomenal and their outdoor courtyard is a perfect place to enjoy some beers on a sunny day. The owner is also very friendly and knowledgeable of the beers he serves. I enjoyed conversing with him on his beers.

Avoid at all costs. When we arrived another couple was waiting for an order to be taken, after 20 minutes they left. Same for the couple behind us. The staff was in no hurry and took their time to chat up their regulars (all older) but seemed lost to take new orders from walkins. After 25 minutes they couple who just arrived (again older folks) got served almost immediately while we were still sitting there waiting to even be asked...
Great place if you need a 30-45 minute sitdown in a nice location without being bothered in decent chairs.
I had a delightful surprise during my visit to the restaurant yesterday. The new menu perfectly complemented the pleasant ambience and friendly service. However, the highlight for me was undoubtedly the food! Opting for a shared dining experience while my partner chose a main course, we were both thoroughly impressed by the exquisite balance of flavours and the artful presentation. If you seek a truly exceptional dining experience in a welcoming setting, I wholeheartedly endorse De Zalm restaurant for its high-quality cuisine at a reasonable price. The only good thing about this place is the location and the service, the guys were very friendly.
About the food, the Stake Tartare wasn't good, It was not well seasoned and I think the meat was about to expire, it did not have a good flavor. I also asked for Stake sandwich, it was very disappointed.
It's an expensive place compare to the quality of food you get.
The experience was ok ish. Only two people were attending everything. It wasn't enough to make people feel special.
The food was amazingly good and there is a good selection of wine available. We asked for a bottle of Rose but had not yet seen the wine menu as it wasn't presented along with the menu. To our dismay, we had been given the most expensive bottle of Rose. We did alas enjoy the good weather and view of the famous City Hall.
This wasn't my first choice, but since places hate being open on Monday, I went for it, and instantly regretted it.
Walked in around 3pm, not that busy considering the ample staff, waited about 5 minutes in the doorway like an idiot before I was even acknowledged to get a seat. Waited another 20 mins or so with no service until they came and tried to get me to pay someone else's bill, when I told them I didn't even order yet. Good start. Ordered a beer, and he rushed off without taking my food order even though I clearly had the food menu open. Waited oh, about 15 more minutes to get the beer. He sprinted away without asking if I wanted anything else. At that point it became abundantly clear. I had to get out of there. I chugged the beer as quickly as I could and miraculously found a staff member to pay for it. His hands were shaking as he held the credit card device. I'd probably still be there now if I didn't escape when I did. Ended up going to the coffee shop down the street for a club sandwich and it was like I died and went to heaven. Twice as many customers with half the staff, and they had no pressure whatsoever.
De Zalm is not the way to run a business. If your staff cannot handle a simple easy crowd, you need to train them to do so.
Great new spot for a night out! The bowling lanes and karaoke rooms are an excellent addition to Gouda’s center. We enjoyed a few rounds of pool with the bucket of beers (a fun tasting experience) plus some great cocktails and food.
There are two pool tables upstairs that are quite new and a joy to play on. Add to that lots of great drink options, and surprisingly good borrel food—we tried a pizza and gyozas, and you’ve got a great night out.

Bagels and Beans is one of my favourite places for lunch in Gouda. Here I'm always guaranteed a good plantbased coffee and lunch and it's open every day. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff is very attentive. In whatever city you are, at Bagels and Beans you always feel at home.

Dropped in around 4pm and left wondering if I’d just had the best mushroom bagel of my life.
The MUSHROOM BURGER (with truffle mayo, pine nuts, and a touch of magic) was rich, earthy, and absolutely nailed it. The PASTRAMI was decent — tasty enough, just "not the bagel you’re looking for".
Flat whites were excellent. Smooth, confident and flavorsome. Staff were warm, sharp, and quietly brilliant — the whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger.

We decided to have lunch here, and we enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very pleasant and calm. A large selection of food and drinks. The waiter was very friendly. The motti with pistachio cream was divine.
I ordered one bagel that had cucumber in it but it wasn’t noticed on the menu. The staff checked again with me and redo my bagel. I always check the ingredients first, and it wasn’t notified. The bagel was really tasty and the staff seemed nice and happy.
Due to the allergies tho, I had to rush to eat and it was stressful for me
Came to this place looking for a gluten-free option (advertised in his website that they have it). Unfortunately, the waitress told me that they were too busy and could not give me that option. Please, stop lying and remove the gluten-free option from your menu.
I always enjoy going here, their bagels are great and I also really enjoy the salads! The only point of improvement is that they could use an extra parasol outside because currently not all the tables are in the shade.
Cooking takes a lot of time and staff is helpful but after long wait, I got my food on table. Try it once, it's a nice place to spend ur time with friends once and u will get digital hugs from them only.
Just so love this place!!! The bagels were perfect for a lunch,service is so good. We didnt even wait for so long for our food and drink and that is for a service so great! If you love bagels + muffin and not to forget vegan, this is your place.

Guests are taken on a culinary journey through two surprise menus: the Culinary Journey and the Culinary Journey Unique, both featuring six courses with vegetarian, fish, and meat dishes. With 223 reviews and an average rating of 9.0, this restaurant is highly recommended for its excellent wines and service.
Restaurant Unique, really obtains its name. It is quite unique. This was my third time there and again loved it. 😻 especially there rosemary bread!
You get a fixed menu of 6 courses and there is a possibility to add supplements. We had as supplement an oyster with there own unique twist!
We enjoyed it very much and the service was on point, sometimes the cooks explained us the dish. That was a nice touch as well!

This was our second visit and most certainly not our last; even our (admittedly well-behaved) three year old was welcomed and enraptured. Unique is a hidden gem on a non-assuming sidestreet just outside the bustle of downtown Gouda. The host is courteous, knowledgeable, creative and provides impeccable service. The chefs are just metres away, visible as they brew their creations. Each course is served with attention to detail, sharing not just the delectable flavour combinations but often information about their more interesting ingredients. The experimentation, the true care and the ultimate feeling of cozy, warm privacy adds to the overall experience greatly. An absolute recommendation that we almost begrudgingly share, as this is the type of secret place that makes a city have a soul.
The food and service were both great. We had a four-course meal that was a Wednesday special. We also did a wine pairing with our food. Overall, it was a really good experience.
The starter oysters were a little fishy to my taste but that could be just their supplier that day.
Other food was indeed unique combination of different styles and the taste was fine. Some combination I thought it is a bit unusual but I liked the creativity. Cheese plank was very good, very intense flavor I did not experience before. The combination with the bread was perfect.
What I really liked was the vibe and the hospitality of the staffs. They were welcoming and helpful. I think I will visit some day again.
Had a group dinner here for 11 people on Tuesday June 28. It was the higher price menu and we had tuna, beef tartare, fish lamb it was amazing. We added wines and a welcome aperitif. It was amazing! Service was stellar and everyone was impressed and the feedback was all positive. I loved this place. It is an experience to behold and inside decor is simple yet elegant. If you are in Gouda please eat here. You will relish the meal! I love a piece of lobster see one course below
Food in this restaurant was ok. I think for a “wine bar” they could definitely come up with more exciting wine pairings and information about the wine they are serving.
I always enjoy eating at Unique and regularly have diner there with my wife. Yesterday I took one of my Teams at work there to celebrate something. They were impressed and very enthusiastic about both the food and the experience!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Saint-John Church, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Gouda Cheese House. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Saint-John Church, also known as Sint Janskerk, is a Gothic masterpiece and the longest church in the Netherlands. It boasts 72 stunning stained glass windows, which form the largest collection of in-situ 16th-century stained glass globally. Despite its tumultuous history of fires, the current structure stands tall and impressive at 123m. Visitors can enjoy a free audio guide in English that provides detailed information about the church's remarkable windows.
Great customer service, clean and cool building to tour. The beautiful stained glass windows are the best in Europe. The audio tour is included in the price. Allow 1.5 hours to tour the church. The toilet is clean and free to use during your visit. Highly recommend this place.

The interiors were fab!!! Worth visiting once if you visit Gouda!
Initially Catholic born, later on converted into a Protestant one with its 123 meter long tower, making it the longest church of the Netherlands. The self-guided audio tour gives everything you need to know about church, so it is highly recommended to get the free audio tour when visiting. Each stained-glass has a history attached to them. Almost most of the glasses are preserved by dismantling them to protect against the rage of WW2 and have been mounted again once peace is again maintained. A must-see church that carrys a long span of history on itself with high authenticity if you are planning to visit Gouda!
Very beautiful church. A calm and cozy place, nice to sit inside or walk around. The architecture is impressive, especially the stained glass. Worth a visit if you're nearby.
Spectacular church, the highlight is the detailed painted glass windows. And it has a lot of them, as it is the longest church in the Netherlands.
It's called church however one might argue it should be catherdrall for it size. The main attraction of thie church are 72 mosaic windows that are mostly massive and kept extremely well, not to mentioned they were unlocked at the begining of 2nd war and kept safe fir the duration of war. The church is 1000 years old and so worth seeing. Be sure to take guided tour which will enrich your expirence so much with knowledge of the mosaic windows. If you do decided to visit the sweet Dutch city of Gouda for the Gouda expirence then this must be also on your list as it's stone throw away from the museum.

Museum in a beautiful historic building in de the city center of Gouda. I have always associated Gouda with strict Protestantism, so I was pleasantly surprised by the museum’s extensive permanent Catholic collection, which has survived the Iconoclastic Fury. The other permanent collection, showcasing the crafts that made Gouda famous—such as Gouds plateel (pottery) and its brewing history—was also very interesting.
The temporary exhibition on the biblical story of Susanna and the Elders was truly special and impressive. The paintings and sculptures were accompanied by excellent descriptions, not only explaining the artworks but also showing how depictions of the story evolved over time. In the context of today’s #MeToo movement, the exhibition felt particularly relevant. Kudos for the curator!
The museum café is also highly recommended, with friendly and efficient service and delicious sandwiches.
I was pleasantly surprised by this museum—having never been to Gouda before, it was undoubtedly a highlight of my visit.

This is a hidden gem that not a lot of tourists visit. You can find many medieval paintings, a surgeon’s office, pottery collections, a pharmacy, a model of the city, and even a dungeon with torture devices!

Here, the visitor can learn about the history of waffle making in Gouda as well as see how they are produced. The waffle themselves were really flavourful, and you can taste they are made with real butter.
The best siroopwafel — perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, and absolutely irresistible! If you have time, I highly recommend booking a factory tour in advance—it’s bound to be an amazing experience. Definitely worth a visit, and don’t forget to buy plenty so you won’t regret it later 🤤
The highlight was definitely the factory tour at the back. The improvement I would suggest for the tour is to improve on the text to speech translation for the beginning part of the tour show.. surely it isn’t hard to get a better voiced person to voice the initial video? The audio guide was decent, and the siroopwafels were delicious.

Good experience and a nice look into behind the scenes on how this special stroopwafle is made. You get to try their waffle at the end and have a cup of coffee or tea. They have a store front if you just want to purchase their specific stroopwafel. They taste different than any other waffle I’ve had. 🤤 so delicious. Staff was so friendly to a tourist like myself which made all the difference. Wonderful experience, I would recommend at least getting a couple packages of their specific stroopwafles!
We bought a few packs of siroopwafels here. The syrup is rich and sweet, and the outside is very crispy — definitely a quality product. However, personally, I still prefer the classic stroopwafel.
Worth trying if you’re in Gouda and want a different take on the traditional Dutch treat.

Gouda Cheese House is a must-visit spot in Gouda, Netherlands. The famous Gouda Cheese Market takes place every Thursday from April to August at the central square Markt. Visitors can witness traditional Dutch cheese trading scenes, including horse-drawn carts filled with cheese and workers dressed in traditional attire. There are around seven varieties of Gouda cheese, ranging from soft and mild to hard and strong in taste.
Our family enjoyed a lot starting the day here in Gouda. Wonderful and knowledgeable experience. Great cheese tasting, real milk and more.

I enjoyed and loved the experience of tasting the famous Dutch Gouda cheese, all the flavors were incredibly delicious! I bought it for all the members of my family in my country to enjoy this experience with me.
We went on Thursday morning during the market and made it a morning trip on the train from Delft. We wanted to see the Gouda Cheese Market and it was fun and added drama with the colorful characters.
There is bench seating around the cheese exchange. You might need to encourage people to scootch over. We tasted some cheese and had fun time.
It's important to get there early, we arrived at 930 and could look around but if you are to understand the cheese marketing process with the negotiations, inspections, and farmers ... you need to be there at the beginning when they explain.
Tons of varieties of cheese. You can actually taste it before you purchase. I like the pesto and tomato cheese. Owner is very friendly. It is right middle of the Gouda centre.
The shop is much larger than it seems from the outside. Amazing variety of cheeses and generous possibility of trying each of them. Small cubes of cheese in front of every cheese so you can really find what 5 years old gauda or cheese with red pesto - taste like before you buy it and bring home. I would like to recommend this policy to other cheese shops, as although it must carry some costs to the store it also makes the tourist/buyer well appreciated and not pushed to make quick purchase and scatter off.

This was the worst Subway experience we’ve ever had.
We came in just wanting to grab a cookie and use the restroom, but even that turned into a problem.
The cookies looked old and unappetizing, but what really shocked us was the staff’s behavior.
The woman working there (Asian, speaking Vietnamese) started saying something in another language right after we walked in, which felt clearly targeted.
When we bought one cookie, she asked how many people were going to use the restroom.
After saying two of us, she told us we had to buy two cookies, one per person, just to use the toilet.
Completely unacceptable attitude and an awful atmosphere.
We left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.

It’s crowded but they will try and find you a place it’s not very long wait. Their Pannekoek was amazing they serve it with apple molasses and powdered sugar you can also add on it extra stuff if you don’t like it plain I added apple. They have good amount of options in the menu but I highly recommend their Pannekoek! The seats are heated once you sit on them they start heating themselves and once you get up they turn off it’s very smart to keep customers warm during windy cold days.
Tomato soop was one of the best I've eaten, it had rich fresh sweet tomato taste. Perfect!
Gouda soup was not somethnig remarkable I didn't taste gouda, more likely some herbs.
Kaasfondue was okay, light and small portion for one person.
Mint tea, full of fresh mint leaves, very intense. Best! The terrace of the restaurant is on the main square, it is wonderful to sit out side and watch daily movement in the city centre. Chairs have heated seats, and there are heaters around, so it makes enjoying outside on kold days possible.

Extremely long wait for the food. More than one hour. Then they asked if we wanted more to drink. Our answer was that we assumed it was a compensation for the long wait.
Apparently not. When we got the bill it was full price. I said that the second rounds of drinks was supposed to be free of charge.
This statement apparently did not go down well. I have seldom been meet with such a badly behaviour from somebody.

This place is really cheap for the amount you get, but it's nothing special. To start with the price, both the unlimited tapas and drinks are very affordable, normally all you can eat places ask a lot for the drinks, but that ain't the case over here, even cocktails are cheap.
Quality wise it varies but there were more dishes I didn't like that much than that I did like. Dishes I do really recommend are the chorizo sausage, the beef tartar & the Carpaccio & the spare ribs, in that order, these we got multiple times for how good they were. Dishes I highly recommend not getting are the mushrooms, the Spanish hamburgers (they taste like the cheap frozen burgers from the supermarket) & the spicy steak pieces (extremely chewy and tasteless). All the other dishes were okay, which was over half of them.
Service was again mediocre, sometimes they would leave multiple rounds of empty plates on our table, not taking them away. This would create a bit of a mess when trying to eat new rounds. The interior did look nice, they have some nice art and the atmosphere was quite warm.
Overall, I really don't think this place is that good, but if you want to eat and drink a lot, it's very affordable, and for that reason alone it already deserves its 4 stars.

We went here after a city trip in Gouda. It was a nice place and not too crowded, the tables are quite close together but on this evening they weren't all full luckily. The room turns loud really fast when there are many people sitting there so it's good but I don't think it's great on a busy Saturday for example. The food was all nice and good proportions so we could try a lot! Toilets were clean but it's not wheelchair accessible.
Tapas restaurant in Cuban style (theme menu is totally not Cuban). All you can eat concept. Food is good and with lots to choose from so there is always something for you. They serve cocktails but their choices of beer is lacking inspiration (the one special beer they offer isn't that great). The place is noisy but that is one of the charms. All in all good food for reasonable price in a nice decor

Lovely place to take your kids. Lots of animals, a vegetable garden and lovely gardens with paths to walk through. There is a small café to have drinks and light lunches.
To enter they ask a small donation towards the upkeep and running of the farm.
Best place with kids who love pets. Has a big playground and lots of pets. The goats are very cute. You can pet and feed them. Lovely place for a sunny weather.
Very friendly place, everything is green and cozy. You got friendly little sweet animals, baby goats, chickens etc.. I've spend 10 minutes with little goats, bought a Dahlia flower for my home garden and I already felt better. On the entrance you got some flowers you can buy by taking the flower and paying the suggested price. Entrance is free for kids and 1.50€ for the adults if I remember correctly. You can throw the coin to the bucket or scan QR code and pay via phone, as requested. They kindly ask for paying because entrance is just open but come on, we got such a nice place going for such a low price so all we can do is be fair and honest and pay like a decent human being.
Also there are playgrounds for kiddos, some gardens and I think I saw a restaurant and icecream. I will be back, place is awesome and very relaxing.

Fun indoor climbing for the little monkeys. There is food , drinks and enough seats for a break of for parents to sit.
Website says healthy food, well there used to be more of that. Large portions of the menu are blacked out, leaving mostly fried products, tosti or pancakes. So for hungry adults; it is better to go to Ballorig Gouda. The rest is pretty decent and family friendly.
I was disappointed. There is no place for shoes and outerwear. No soap in the toilet. Inactive staff. Small amount of attraction for kids of 3. Big space and nothing to do. I am not sure that I would like to go there one more time with my child.
A nice monkeytown. Could be a bit more light indoors. I like the upstairs Lazer tag.

Great place for the kids to drain some energy and enjoy themselves. There is something for all ages and its fun and safe.
There is an insane amounth of birthdays parties. I personally like my guests to interact with each other and therefore I think it's less suitable for that, but if you just want the kids to have fun and not have to take care of anything except a cake this is a great choice. It's busy, so I would recommend to keep an eye on your kids at all time.
There is a place to eat snacks and have a drink. Toilets everything present. Front door doesn't open without a button hanging out if reach of the kids which is a good idea.

Great indoor playground for a 1.5 year old. Lots of fun activities for adults and children to enjoy. Open kitchen with freshly prepared food (or fastfood if you crave it). Plenty of parking space. Flooded with natural daylight, but does tend to get warm on summer days.
Ballorig Gouda also offers an annual entry ticket. It's good value if you go there more than once a month.
Very nice, lots of challenging and fun play options for all kids from 0-10. Unfortunately they keep cutting the opening hours. On a Saturday opening at 10 is way to late, almost nap time once we're there. Even during vacation they close now at 18. I used to go with the kids for an hour after work/dinner until bedtime, but no more.
nice size, not too large or too small. nice menu with more healthy options than the usual softplay offer. no banging music. clean overall, even on sunday. clean bathrooms. new undamaged play material. nicely organized. downsides: not a lot of parking spaces but we did go on a rainy sunday so what did we expect 😂 and also we couldnt find any tables with electricity plugs for the laptop, so no option to work there while kids play. overall, very nice place!
This place really takes care of a family with kids... It is safe for a wide range of kids ages... There is nice place for parents... Coffee drinks and snacks are available... Wifi is free... In simple words the parents can have some long looked for peace of mind for a little while... I liked the place and how it is designed... Though it was a rainy day... It had good amount of light...
My 15 months old boy loved it there. Safe environment to play and lots of cool stuff to play with. Not to expensive and you only pay for your child.

A very nice all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant with an interesting variety of choices, from Asian food to pizzas. A good vegetarian selection as well. The restaurant is clean and the service is very friendly. You get the table by a time-based manner. All drinks are included, with some extra cost for alcoholic beverages. A bit outside the center of Gouda, but parking nearby is very easy.

This gigantic buffet dining experience was a mouthwatering delight on the eyes and taste buds. Think the most difficult part is simply where to start! What is really nice is that they include three alcohol tokens as well which makes it a very reasonable evening. I advise you to walk around the entire food court first and then get your first plate. The variety is mind-blowing and it was nice to see dishes like fresh oysters, prawns and fresh raw salmon pieces. There is something for everyone. Sushi is plentiful and quite a variety. The grill and wok areas are both generous with nice sized portions of meat and fish and chicken. The decor of the restaurant is smart and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We will be back here soon.

I went there as a teacher in a camp together with 30 kids. The staff was very nice and patient and waited for every kid to make their choice. They were also willing to make us an invoice. The ice cream selection is not very diverse but the ones they have are very good. (Would love some salted caramel haha)
Great place! Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, easy and really well presented meals, and due to its location a very welcome reprieve from necessary grocery shopping. The prices are refreshing as we can afford to treat the whole family here. As a bonus, you can get both ice cream and takeaway options. Highly recommend.
Unfortunately after years of being happy with the quality of the food I have to now leave a bad review. We always used to order here for game night, once a week, but in the last few months I've been getting nauseous after the food. We've branched out to other places to order, but tonight ordered again to see if it was just a situational thing, and got nauseous again. I can't recommend the food here anymore, which is a shame, as it used to be my go-to snackbar.

Plenty of outdoor activities, as well as some indoor ones, all included in the entrance fee (seems a bit high, but there is a lot of value back).

The food options are not great for adults, but it works for the kids (would be nice to add a few additional healthier options).
Kids had a blast, and most importantly have plenty of room to run around and things to occupy them for several hours

Great experience for kids who are into dinosaurs. Our 4 year old daughter enjoyed running around through the dino experience, pretending to be a palentologist brushing sand off of "buried" fossils, and then playing in the bouncy castle and on the huge playground. Worth the hour drive from Amsterdam. Do check the weather ahead of time though because if there is any chance of wind this place will be super windy (which can mean freezing if it's cold without the wind).
Overpriced for what you actually get - borderline rip-off pricing for an old, poorly maintained park. The walking trail is pleasant once you locate it, but signage is deliberately poor so visitors get funneled toward paid attractions instead.
Arrived at 10:15am, just after opening, and found trash scattered throughout the grounds. The fiberglass dinosaur displays are cheap-looking and poorly maintained - honestly laughable quality for what you’re paying.
Food is overpriced processed junk at theme park rates. Hard to justify those prices for what amounts to reheated convenience food.
Serious safety concern: the maze has exposed thorn bushes with no barriers or warnings. Our 2-year-old ran straight into one and got scratched up. This is a legitimate hazard that management needs to address immediately.
The park has potential with better maintenance and honest pricing, but currently feels like they’re taking advantage of families. Your money is better spent elsewhere until they get their act together.
We had an absolutely amazing day at the Dino Experience Park. a lot of dinos to see, a lot of space to walk and play and loads of activities. From jumping in bouncy castles to drawing. From painting in a huge triceratops to searching for treasures in the mining field. Walking in a minigolf course, "crossing a river by boat", finding dinos in a cave under a waterfall. Kids (and parents) had a blast.
They went above and beyond for us. Our kid lost a comfort/safety toy in the park. I've send an email with the description of the toy and in a few days they found , posted and we received it. They even included some gifts for the children.
I have no words to describe how awesome our experience - during and post - visit was. Thank you again Michel an Dino Experience Crew!

Read the reviews. I did but still thought it was a good idea to come...absurdly expensive and ridiculous park. Sorry for the honesty. There are some old dinosaurs that barely move. A mini golf that is just sad to see. Theres basically nothing in this place! Then they have some inflatable jumpings, and a park. That's it. For this price it should be against the law to offer this little and charge this much! On their website they make it look amazing
I will never come back. Came only with one of my kids but wont be here again! Go to a natural museum then to a normal park. Its a better investment.
Great outing for the kids- own food can be taken, but there is a cafe with food and drinks. Tokens can be bought at reception for some rides- Would not buy more than 5 tokens. Dino cinema also and clean bathrooms.
Great place for kids. There's lots to do. Mini golf, little rides, bouncy castle, walk to see dinosaurs, hunting for fossils etc.
There is a reasonably priced restaurant onsite. Toilets are available (including baby change and disabled).
Small gift shop.
I would recommend that you bring coins as the rides only work with 2eur coins.

All the food was very delicious. We were very pleased that the service staff told each meal with one care. We were very happy to see a taste from our own country (Turkey) with dolma and ayran sauce, which is especially interpreted in the main meal.

Overrated in my opinion. We got this restaurant recommended by locals. Maybe we came at a bad time with a bad seasonal menu, but I honestly did not enjoy the food. The decor is okay at the small riverbank but nothing special. The overall experience was not worth the money at all. Im suprised the restaurant has so many good reviews, maybe we did had a bad luck with the current menu. Still went home hungry. The overall taste of the menu was bitter and sour. I admit I'm impressed with the cooks knowledge of the many cooking techniques he used and he showed them with every dish which was also very beautifully presented, however, the flavour for me was seriously lacking and there was no 'wow' factor when it came to flavour. The concept of the restaurant isnt unique either, pickling is something that exists for ages and is actually a way to preserve food in many many countries. This restaurant makes it seem like its a unique and rare technique which your paying extra for to experience it. For the money we've spend i can go to any eastern european restaurant to eat proper pickled food 10 times over. Again, it could be that we had very bad luck with the seasonal menu, but 8 dishes means 8 chances to impress and none of them did unfortunately. Will not be returning here any time soon.
Good vegan food, nice surroundings and good atmosphere. Acoustics were good too, and even with all tables occupied we could easily talk with each other. Service was OK but a lost star because one of the waiters was knowledgeable yet they lacked enthusiasm - for the kind of money we are talking about I'd like to be served with a bit of enthusiasm. Atmosphere, as said, good, yet a lost star because the tables are kind of crowded.

Lovely location at a quiet canal. Terrace deck outside on the water, industrial look with large wooden beams, large metal pipes, kombucha brewings, and cozy plants inside. You order a surprise menu of 3, 4, or 5 courses (vegetarian available as well), and you can choose a full glass or half glass of wine pairing.
Food is organic, with lots of fermented food such as miso, edible flowers, and unusual combinations. Service was friendly and quick. I will be honest, but the food combinations we got that night were a bit unusual, with lots of acidic flavors, such as a green pickled strawberry, or fermented apple. I love some food microbiology, but the flavors of the amuse and starters were all a bit sour for my taste without a counter flavor like sweet or salty. The main dish, cod with a cabbage roll, however, was excellent, and so was the dessert.
Another reason to take off a star: One of us ordered a sparkling water pairing, which turned out to be a single bottle. When we asked for two extra glasses, we were charged with three water pairings, which was a bit outrageous.
All and all, it was quite a different experience than the usual restaurant selection, and if you are in organic and fermented foods and have some money to burn, this is your spot. But it might not be for everyone.
Good reviews let me here, but this isn't going to be one of those. You get a 4 or 5 course menu, "surprising the guests with creative dishes". Well, surprised I was indeed, with flat favoured, minimal sized, dishes. The only "taste sensations" came from the wines which were indeed well selected. The waitress came to explain what to expect from each wine, but did so convincingly, as if she herself never had a taste of it. After 4 disappointing courses we ordered the cheese platter, to avoid leaving feeling hungry. But the four pieces (for 2 persons) didn't help out much.
The restaurant's interior and the location are beautiful, as is the concept. The execution however rattles on all sides.
Overpriced and overrated in my opinion. There are better options in Gouda.
Lovely experience. The venue is really, really nice: big windows, wooden interiors and furniture, nice minimal decorations. The service was good and friendly. The food was good as well - moreover, the place is proud to to serve organic food.

The building, which used to be the city's power plant, still retains its central focus on light. It now houses a wonderful restaurant offering a variety of dishes including meat, fish, poultry, and vegetarian options. The restaurant is located in an old industrial building with beautiful lighting where energy was once generated. Additionally, it offers a unique setting for dining and enjoying cocktails.
We had lunch here today with 11 people. The waiter was really kind and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The food was delicious. The Pulled Chicken Salad on the photo I can recommend personally. The atmosphere is very good in this beautiful restaurant. Even though we were a big group, we got served pretty quickly. We have plans to come back here again :)

We mentioned it was a bachelor party when booking, and they went above and beyond with the decorations, totally exceeding our expectations! The staff was phenomenal, treating our group like VIPs from start to finish.

A little away from the center, but within walking distance - right next to the Best Western Hotel is the Lichtfabriek restaurant in an industrial building of a former power station. Cool location and great atmosphere! The food was delicious, the staff friendly and accommodating. We felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend the Lichtfabriek.
We landed on this by accident but really liked it. After exploring Gouda for several hours, we were ready for an adult beverage and some snacks. We were seated right away. Service was excellent. We enjoyed our beer and snacks very much. Great atmosphere a definitely worth a visit if you are nearby.

Nice sushi restaurant nearby the city center. It has plenty of choice and the quality/price ratio is more than reasonable. One thing I have to remark is that they put extra attention to the presentation of their sushi, very good. They have also food adapted for children like chicken nuggets and French fries since raw foods are not recommended for babies and toddlers. Worst sushi I've ever had. Tasted so dry, as if it was pre-made in the morning and served at night. Servers were young teenagers that hardly said a word as they brought food. The dessert was decent though!

The food tastes good and I like how you don't have to go and get your own food, except for the dessert. The dessert you have to get up to get, but that is good exercise at the end. The reason it is nice to not have to get up is because then i can stay seated and chat with whoever is eating with me. The price is also decent compared to other AYCE restaurants.

Finding somewhere that is totally Gluten Free is such a blessing. Loads of Vegan + GF choices. I’m not vegan, but the food was so delicious!
I had a Meat Free burger in a plantain bun (I think it was actually a plantain squashed flat and grilled. Weird, but tasted great!
My wife had a veggie Caribbean curry. It was hidden under a layer of lettuce. Maybe not the best presentation, but again… the taste was amazing.

Very lovely restaurant a dream for people with food allergies since it is fully plant based and gluten free. I loved the menu and everything was very intentional and delicious. Good variation of foods and spices. Amazing drinks as well. For someone with restricted food options this was heavenly. The atmosphere was very nice and calm.
Finally after a year of visiting Gouda as a vegan, me and my girlfriend found time to visit Miss Nice Banana. It surely satisfied the enthousiasm we built up for a year.
The amosphere in the restaurant is cosy and relaxing, the carribean music made the rainy weather outside a little more bearable. The place is lovely decorated and we found a comfortable spot on the couch.
The cheesy kapsalon that we shared was really good. It was a huge portion filled with fresh ingredients, well spiced jackfruit and tasty sweet potato fries. I would have loved it even more if instead of a cheesy sauce and cold grated cheese, the cheese was warm and melted! It was good nevertheless. The raw spring rolls that we took were a nice snack, fresh! The peanut dressing was a great complementation.
I loved the things that the menu offered and cannot wait to try out other things next time. The overall experience was a good one. The staff was hiding a little bit too much behind the bar, but except for missing a little more frequent attentiveness, the service was good and welcoming :)

Interesting vegan dishes with good flavors and creative preparation. Food quality was good, but service was quite slow - took about 45 minutes to receive our meals. Worth trying if you're not in a hurry.
It is a beautiful restaurant located not in the exact city center with all the tourist attractions but in a more quiet part of the town (5 minute walk from the De Goudse Waag). This gives it a very local vibe. We ordered a falafel & feta salad and a Caribbean curry. They were both fantastic - the salad had lots of fresh ingredients, and the curry was rich in flavor. The portions were big and we left very satisfied. The waitress was very kind, she showed us the way to the garden which is lovely on a warmer day. It’s a fantastic place to eat a balanced, flavorful, plant-based meal that makes you forget about meat or dairy. 11/10 - I’d come back to Gouda just to eat at Miss Nice Banana again.
A wonderful place to eat vegan, the atmosphere is cool and the lady is lovely. I had a soup, a bowl and a lovely smoothie, I wasn't hungry any more but I couldn't pass up the almond and cherry dessert, it was to die for, I highly recommend it. Dank u well

Park Houtmansplantsoen in Gouda is a charming city park with a rich historical background. It features the remains of Jacoba of Bavaria's castle, including the base of the tower, and Molen t Slot, one of the four windmills in the area. The park offers a well-maintained trail along a canal, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls and bike rides.
It is a calm and quiet place to sit and there's lots of space!

Enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the trail of Park Houtmansplantsoen during a visit to Gouda in late April 2023. Lovely green space along a canal with a well maintained hike and bike trail. It is 10 minutes by foot from the city center and the 't Slot windmill is nearby.
One of the biggest and nicest parks in Gouda. Lots of variety in trees and bushes. Benches all around. In the widest part of the park, close to the windmill are several landmark monuments and a music stage. Also with playground. Nice for a walk, nice place to relax.
Beautiful city park, surrounded by historic buildings.
It's a little small, and there's not much surrounding it.

Theater, cafe and music stage at the outskirts of Gouda, or at least, so it seems when approaching the place. Nearby options for canoeing and a kind of harbour industrial area with a more or less artistic place. The bar is nice at the theaterbakkereij, friendly staff. Stage is relatively small, but it worked for the pole sport event we visited. Lights seem good, sound reasonable. Chairs were ok, nothing special.

Both a great place to perform in as well as to go to as a visitor. It nice and cosy not too big and considering it's brand new they are quite professional.

If you're looking for an authentic Thai dining experience in Bangkok City, look no further than this restaurant. The food is well-seasoned and not overly spicy, catering to various preferences including those with sensitive stomachs. The ambiance exudes a pleasant Thai vibe, making diners feel like they've been transported to Thailand. Despite its narrow exterior, the interior is surprisingly spacious and neatly decorated.
It's already a few weeks since we passed here, and it smelled so good! We ordered food to take home and we look forward to next time having a sit down dinner. The staff was very welcoming and willing to think along with our wishes for dinner. The food was a very good amount and just delicious. We definitely recommend pampering yourself here!

I ordered Pad Thai - propably one of the best I've eaten! Unfortunately there was a wrong menu on the table with other prices, so I was misled. Apart from that, everything's fine!
Visited on a Friday night with no booking. They were so accommodating and found us a table. The food was excellent and staff very helpful.
As for me massively overrated place, looks like a regular diner with the “adult” prices, small portions, very moderate food quality as for the Thai vibrant cuisine and pretty slow service. The only benefit of this place is the people who work there, they really try their best, very friendly, polite and welcoming. There are definitely things to improve I would say.
The quality off the food is good. But the taste is not real authentic thai. More to wat de dutch people expect.

This delightful intimate restaurant is a perfect setting for a memorable night with your special companion or revered friends or a small family celebration. The decor is elegant yet homely. There is beautifully selected paintings hanging everywhere and artworks placed on the shelves. The cuisine is French and what a nice variety of dishes to choose from. To make our choice easier, we opted for the three course special, which was very good for just under 40 euros. There is a very nice wine list as well, and we were very happy to select their house wine. Water was free, which is a rarity in most restaurants today. We kicked off with an aperitif, which was a delicious pastry tart with a tot of soup. As a starter, I opted for the wild parade, which was a trio of wild meat bites. For mains, I settled for the wild boar medallions and deer steak with a delicious potato mash and red cabbage. Dessert was a cheese platter that was a fitting finale to a superb evening!

A real nice place in a wonderfull setting offering an extensive menu with lot's to choose from. Already a 3 course diner for under € 40 for this quality is rare. Outstanding waiting staff. Cooking also with the season, so game is lots on the menu now.
The food was great. We were with a large group, of 8 people in total, and apparently we needed to have the chefs menu, but luckily they were flexible that evening and we could choose whatever we liked. The manager was rather rude and showed little to no compassion. Also we were served by at least 5 different people theoughout the evening and this caused confusion on what was ordered etc.
Beautiful atmosphere for a quiet, intimate dining experience. Here are a few recommendations for the owners/ chef: We found some of the dishes a little too salty (e.g. the sauces for the fish, scallops and meat), and the sea bass was overcooked and dry. The scallops, on the other hand, were perfect! We would also recommend listing the type of grape on the wine menu. We made the mistake of ordering a bottle of Bourgogne wine, wanting a full-bodied red wine, but when the bottle was presented to us, we saw that it was a pinot noir. We nevertheless went for it (our mistake) and regretted it; it was young, light, and slightly sharp; definitely not worth the price. To end on a positive note: We really appreciated the amuse on the house and especially the bottle of tap water on the table. More restaurants in the Netherlands should do the same.

Our dinner lasted 3 hours in the best traditions of France. It was nice not to rush anywhere and not to see the rush around you. Just enjoy eating with your eyes and taste 👍🏻
Cozy restaurant with delicious food and very friendly staff, located close to some very photogenic buildings (including an old windmill). We tried a set menu for dinner, with varied and great food (and plenty too!). Reasonably priced too, for what you get.

This delightful haven is very much a secret spot until you have discovered it. A retro chic container styled restaurant complete with a beach and volleyball court is shouting Summer is here! Dog friendly is a bonus point here too! The menu is interesting and caters for just about everyone. We went for the three dishes per person getting six different appetising dishes for lunch. Wow what a feast for the eyes and tastebuds too.

Nicely hidden just outside the city centre. No worries you can take the boat (€ 1,00) to cross the water. A real nice place constructed partially out of sea containers. Very well priced, reflects in the dishes but nothing wrong at there prices. Little understaffed it seemed, so walk inside for extra order if they don't come to the terrace. Lot of locals, almost a meeting spot. Pretty big and make a reservation if you come for dinner.
Interesting location don't get scared about the images on Google Maps the place is nice , something else, good food! Nice atmosphère !
Beach club style at the river. Nicely done, good and friendly atmosphere. Outside area looked also really fun, but we were there after 2000 in autumn, so no beach lounging. Staff was friendly, but had a limited job responsibility. Talking together and getting the place ready for the next day was more important than serving us. Starters were good, especially the vegan 'bitterballen'. Thereafter all went wrong. We got meaty burgers instead of vegetarian burgers. Fries were fatty and not really baked through, probably the oil was not hot enough. The dish with sweet potatoes and peanut sauce had no sweet potato and no peanut sauce. Fries and a kind of sriracha sauce instead. Complete swamped in fatty sauces, in fact. Asking for the bill was fine, but again we had to go and get the bill as no one would come. Pricy for the quality. Beer selection ok, by the way.
Splendid atmosphere and great food options. If you don't believe than an industrial setup could have a nice and cozy atmosphere....just try it here and you'll be convinced.
Delicious food and such friendly service. It’s a bit of a walk out of town on weekdays but on weekends they have a boat to carry you across the canal.

In a library, this cafe has indoor and outdoor seating. We, as Indians, were surprised to find Darjeeling Tea, the finest Indian tea, on their menu in Gouda. We tried it and liked it a lot. The coffee and sweets were good too, and we loved the Coconut Cherry pastry. The atmosphere and service were also nice. I recommend this place.

A light and not too sweet cheesecake, a delicious latte with just the right amount of sweetness, a nutty and fluffy nutty pie, and a good espresso. The waitress is very nice.
We stumbled across this restaurant when going back to the carpark. The restaurant is located within the library and has a beautiful little shop attached to it too.
We sat outside on the terraced which was quiet and away from the busy town centre. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had both had the Gouda pie - lovely. I also had a hot chocolate made with real chocolate which I would recommend. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we need.
Genius idea to have a nice restaurant (and gift shop!) inside the library. The staff is just splendid - very professional, very friendly, very courteous - and the hot chocolate is worth a visit all on its own. We’ve started coming here with our toddler so that one of us can work on the first floor of the library while the other takes her to play and read in the kid’s section. The Duplo wall and cozy, varied sitting places make for an inviting extended reading nook. A nice sit-down lunch or dinner together afterwards is just perfect. Worth the visit!
Cosy cafe located within a library. Enjoyed the cheese pie/quiche and the tomato soup!!! it was like freshly blended tomatoes :) We ate and left no crumbs.
Staff is friendly and have badges on their uniforms indicating what language they speak. This was really helpful as we are not from the Netherlands and don’t speak Dutch.
Saw they provided colour pencils for the colouring sheet table mat which might be nice if you have kids. There are power sockets hanging down from the ceiling for people who need to get some work done.

Very open and inviting space. I got a ice coffee and a sandwich and love it. Service was fast and friendly. And for those reviews that say otherwise, you can literally scan the QR code on your table and order yourself if you’re that impatient. There’s a nice terrace outside as well as a lounge inside to sit and read.
I had the tuna melt and my mom got the egg salad. Both were very good. The atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxed, and the servers were friendly.
The ultimate seduction is a drink made with coffee, white chocolate syrup, white chocolate chunks and strawberry syrup and jams. These flavors combined make a lovely drink. It's served as a frappe and i really recommend to add whipped cream since this really adds a nice touch to the flavors.
It's a great summer drink to cool off.
