Museums
History museum
The Rijksmuseum, located in a 19th-century building, is a treasure trove of Dutch Golden Age paintings and an extensive European art collection. It is one of Amsterdam's most popular attractions and serves as the city's primary art repository. The museum was established to house the country's vast collection of rare art and antiquities, which includes over 8,000 important paintings spanning from the 13th century to modern times.
The Rijksmuseum is truly massive — a treasure trove filled with everything from exquisite porcelain and jewelry to world-class paintings and sculptures. The highlight, of course, is the stunning collection of works by masters like Rembrandt and Van Gogh. The audio guide (or even better, the museum app) is worth getting, as it helps bring the art to life and makes it easier to navigate the maze-like halls. The museum’s grand corridors and detailed exhibits make it easy to lose track of time — and sometimes your way. There’s also a nice gift shop and a restaurant on-site, though both can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours.
Vidya H — Google review
The only way I can describe this museum aptly is by comparing it the Louvre. It was so much better than the Louvre in every sense of the word. Sure, it wasn’t sprawling and it wasn’t laden with a thousand artifacts from a thousand international grandmothers but it what it has, is RESPECT. Respect for its space, its displays and its culture. Everything is organised and easily accessible, with readable maps around every corner and a sleeve of information boards for guests to grab and refer to as they peruse the rooms. Heavy crowd control, while making tickets quite a bit difficult to nab, makes the museum experience SO much more pleasant, without the pushing and shoving and bodies in your face. Occasionally it might also prevent emergency shutdowns, yk, like that other country. The heavy emphasis on DUTCH history is also well appreciated, with nods to instruments, pottery and maritime trinkets. One notable room had little medieval story discs with the stray genital lining the walls, entertaining to say the least. Many Dutch artists (Remembrandt, Van Gogh amongst the notable ones) find their pieces displayed here, with sections dedicated to each artist, and even a section titled Project Night Watch to restore said painting. Gorgeous and interesting display too, with the restorers sealed away almost in a glass room. There’s even a library room, which is basically that one scene in Beauty and the Beast come to life. Rows and rows of books upon stairs and walkways come together under glass rooms and windows? URGH. I adore the aesthetic of this place. We got our tickets through Klook, in a combined ticket with the Amsterdam canals. Book early to avoid disappointment! Last but most importantly, their exit signs aren’t pyramid schemes.

I went on a solo date to the Rijksmuseum, and even though I’m not really a “museum person,” I absolutely loved my experience here. The entire place is stunning, but the star of the show is definitely Rembrandt’s Night Watch Whether you’re into art or not, Rijksmuseum is a must-visit in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!
Reni S — Google review
Stunning setting on par with the Louvre; goldmine of Dutch Masters but also extensive collections of porcelain, china, silverware, jewelry, firearms, nautical models and other items. Large, open atrium and other common areas with ample access to washrooms, lifts and stairwells. App (IOS and Android) loads easily and allows access to thematic and custom tours. BRING ear buds, although you can listen via your phone’s speaker. Audio device is only €6.50 each. Cafeteria fills by mid-day with lineup; we grabbed coffee / tea and a brownie for two at the smaller cafe. Cons: App and general signage could be better at orienting visitors: it took a while to find the Great Hall. Many exhibits are dimly lit; I know this protects paintings/fabric/etc, but many other international museums have more ample lighting. Maybe illuminate the text descriptions separately? Given that explanatory panels are often mounted within 50cm of the floor, deciphering them can pose a challenge. Even saw quite young folks having to squint. Strongly advise staff to engage an Optometrist to assist in this. Sum: certainly a “must see”, with a complete visit likely requiring 3+ hrs. Staff very helpful, and roving throughout the museum. Buy tickets from the official site beforehand (or via QR on site), and avail yourself of the (included) coat-check.
Kevin B — Google review
Classic, iconic, and indispensable art museum. While it is best known for its classic collection and Dutch Golden Age masterpieces, it also hosts an extensive selection of works from other periods, including contemporary critical exhibits. Carefully curated, the visit can be extensive if one wishes to cover all it has to offer. But it makes for a memorable experience both for those with a dedication to art and culture, and the casual visitor. It is useful to book tickets in advance. While the crowds are managed reasonably, it can get busy, in particular in the most popular galleries. An early arrival is useful to enjoy those works in a more relaxed way. The museum has quality services for information, accessibility, shop, restaurant and coffee bar. Staff is professional, congenial, and knowledgeable across all roles. The 2013 refurbishment of the historic Pierre Cuypers building by Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos still feels fresh, cogent, and successful in upgrading the entrances, patios, service areas, and selected exhibition spaces. If anything it would have been nice to have a more direct opportunity to understand the evolution of the building, its spaces, collection history, and new curatorial practices. Although much of that emerges through the visiting experience, and carefully prepared exhibits.
Daniel L — Google review
So cool! Yes it is busy but the line inside doesn’t take too long. No longer than 20 minutes when I went on Tuesday at about 11:00. It helped to pass the time with the easy ticket QR code! The structure of this beautiful building helps too!!!! The folks letting us in were just fantastic! They were very nice and got us in quickly! I recommend going to the bathroom before the museum though. Everything inside is so cool to look at! The collections are so thorough and cover a variety of artists from Europe! Just amazing! Take your time and if something interests you definitely read the plaque! They are super informative. Over all would recommend!
Hailey M — Google review
The Rijksmuseum is spacious and full of variety—you can easily spend two hours or more exploring. Of course, the famous paintings, especially those by Rembrandt, are breathtaking. But beyond that, we enjoyed discovering other exhibits too: delicate porcelain, shipbuilding models, and historical artifacts that tell stories beyond the canvas. We arrived early, which helped—it was fairly quiet at first. But the museum filled up quickly and became quite crowded in some areas. The café is lovely and offers a peaceful break. Unfortunately, The Night Watch is currently under restoration, but even so, it remains a powerful and moving centerpiece. Visiting the Rijksmuseum is a beautiful experience—perfect for art lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone seeking cultural depth and inspiration.
Natalie G — Google review
One of the world’s great art museums. The collection is wonderful. The Rembrandts take center stage, but there is much more. Moreover, the exhibition spaces are scaled to enhance viewing and offer patrons opportunities to spend time with the works, up close. The Rijksmuseum gives you a chance to lean in close to a Rembrandt, Vermeer, or Van Gogh and explore brush strokes, use of light and other aspects of the work.

Nature & Parks
Vondelpark is a 19th-century urban park in Amsterdam, known for its romantic ambiance and serene setting. It's a popular spot for couples, offering beautiful landscapes with colorful flowers and trees. The park features cafes and restaurants where couples can enjoy intimate meals. Additionally, it's a favored location for engagements and engagement photoshoots. Vondelpark offers various attractions such as a rose garden, an open-air theater, tennis courts, and a paddling pool.
What an inspiring place to be, with hundreds of people running every second. A wonderful park right in the heart of the city, offering every shade of green. Perfect place to walk, go for a run, enjoy a drink at one of the many spots around, or simply chill on a summer day.

My local park. I love it & so do many many Amsterdamers.. Tourists, everyone. Busy and buzzing. With lots of wildlife and some quiet peaceful areas.. Lovely Rose garden. Playgrounds, Bars, restaurants and concert venue inside. It's a main thoroughfare into the city and in the mornings and evenings it's like a Football game has ended.. Great for running - just about 3.5km all the way around the place but also inline skating and cycling. Walking etc.. Outside smelly Dutch style urinals placed strategically about but also public toilets in the bars.. A long and fairly narrow green lung in the city.

A beautiful park to take a walk to or go by bike!!! If you have time you can just sit on a bench or on the grass and enjoy the calm nature around you. Really a beautiful place!

Vondelpark is amazing, i would just wish that Amsterdam had like 10 of Vondelparks. :) Great place to hang out and walk around out of the hustle and bustle of the city surrounding it. Vondelstraat is also a great neighborhood to walk through.

Walked through this beautiful Vondel park, lots of people taking advantage of this park, walking, running, biking, sitting on benches, sitting on the grass. Many people were here and I found I had to watch myself that I didn’t get in anyone’s way, still glad I checked this area out.

I absolutely loved the park the trees and roses were breathtaking to see in person. The sound of running water added such a calming touch, and the Japanese maples were stunning. It’s the perfect spot for yoga or simply unwinding after a busy day.

Vondelpark is a truly beautiful and relaxing place in the heart of Amsterdam. The park feels peaceful and full of life at the same time, with wide green spaces, winding paths, and lovely ponds. It’s perfect for walking, cycling, or simply sitting on a bench and enjoying the atmosphere. Whether you visit in the morning or at sunset, the scenery is charming and the vibe is welcoming. It’s a wonderful escape from the busy city streets and a must-see for anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Our favorite spot in Amsterdam! We walked and cycled across this park almost every day during our stay in Amsterdam, and each time we found a lovely spot inside this park. They have rose sections which I imagine would be best during spring or early summer. There are public toilets accessible in this park, not sure about the cleanliness.

The Moco Museum is a modern and contemporary art museum located in the heart of Amsterdam, just a short walk from Museumplein. Housed in an early-20th-century townhouse, it offers a unique experience for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The museum features an impressive collection of works by renowned modern artists such as Banksy, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yayoi Kusama, and KAWS.
The Moco Museum in Amsterdam is a vibrant and quirky art destination that brings a delightful twist to the traditional museum experience! This gem is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, with a focus on iconic figures like Banksy and Andy Warhol, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to inject some fun into their cultural exploration. As you step inside, the playful atmosphere immediately captures your attention. The museum’s design is bold and contemporary, with well-curated exhibitions that are both engaging and visually stimulating. I loved how the displays encourage interaction and reflection—some pieces even have a cheeky sense of humor that sparks joy! One of the highlights was the Banksy exhibition, which showcased some of his most famous works alongside lesser-known pieces. It’s fascinating to see his provocative art in such a stylish setting, and the blending of street art with fine art feels fresh and exciting. Another must-see is the collection of works by contemporary artists that defy convention and push the boundaries of creativity. It’s a perfect spot for snapping Instagram-worthy photos alongside thought-provoking art. The Moco Museum isn't just about the art; it has a lively café where you can relax and recharge with some delicious snacks and drinks while soaking in the creative vibes. Overall, my visit to the Moco Museum was an absolute blast! It’s the perfect blend of fun, culture, and innovation, making it a fantastic add-on to any Amsterdam itinerary. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for a unique experience, the Moco Museum will leave you inspired and entertained!

I absolutely loved my visit to Moco Museum. The atmosphere is modern, creative, and full of personality, it really pulls you in from the moment you walk in. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. The exhibits were fantastic across the board, but my all-time favourite was definitely the Banksy section. Thought-provoking, iconic, and beautifully presented. If you enjoy contemporary art, this museum is a must-visit. I’d go again in a heartbeat!
Ellie V — Google review
I visited the Moco Museum in Amsterdam two weeks ago, and it was such a fun experience. A mix of modern and contemporary art was refreshing and inspiring. I especially loved a digital art exhibition called The Symphony of Nature — it was super dreamy, peaceful, and honestly kind of magical. I also loved seeing the Banksy pieces and works from artists like Warhol, Basquiat and Kusama. The museum isn’t huge, which is perfect if you want something inspiring without spending hours inside. Tip: go in the morning or on a weekday — way fewer people and more space to enjoy everything. If you like modern, bold, or Instagram-friendly art, you’ll love it.

I recently visited the Moco Museum as part of a collaboration, and I was genuinely impressed. The collection is vibrant, inspiring, and thoughtfully curated. From iconic contemporary pieces to unique details throughout the space. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the museum shop offers beautiful books and art-inspired items. Whether you love modern art or just want a creative experience, the Moco Museum is definitely worth a visit!

Small but fun museum. Some major artistes are exposed like Warhol but with like 1 to 2 art exhibits only. It’s free with the I amsterdam city pass 45 minutes are more than enough
LV — Google review
The Moco Museum offers an interesting and modern art experience, especially with works by Banksy and other contemporary artists. I visited with the Amsterdam City Card, so the entrance was already included — in that case, it was definitely worth a stop. However, if you’re paying separately, I personally wouldn’t consider it one of Amsterdam’s absolute must-see museums. Still, it’s a pleasant visit if you’re nearby and appreciate modern or street art.
Zenya — Google review
This is a wonderful museum that is definitely worth visiting if you are ever in Amsterdam. Our group had a 2 day stay while in Europe on business and we all decided to visit Moco Museum which at that time was having a Banksy display. I am not sure if this is a permanent display or not but it was awesome to see the many displays. The venue itself is perfectly sized and the displays themselves were well positioned and gave ample room to all the visitors without feeling over crowded. The staff were all very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and we all appreciated that. I truly enjoyed our visit to Moco Museum and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Paul Canada 🇨🇦

De Bijenkorf Amsterdam is a renowned luxury department store located in the heart of the city on the Dam. The impressive building boasts a stunning facade and stylish interior, offering an extensive range of high-end fashion, cosmetics, accessories, and home goods. Visitors can also enjoy a delightful shopping experience at the De Bijenkorf shopping region with numerous clothing stores, Dutch brands, and a large shoe department. Additionally, the 5th floor features a cafeteria serving coffee and various food options.
I went there to buy luggage. Very nice young man helped me with the sale. Right next to the tax duty free registry so if you live in a non EU country be sure to get your tax rebate. You must get the paperwork the same day though!

Came here the other day for a quick bite to eat on the top floor cafeteria of de Bijenkorf. I ordered from the Wok section and got a spicy chicken yellow curry with rice. It cost €18 and was a very large portion. I wish they had provided the option for a take-away or doggy bag as I ended up leaving over half of the meal. The curry was delicious and I was curious about the other sections e.g. Grill and Bar as the food and drinks coming from those booths looked incredible too! I had a Heineken with my meal but the beer was quite warm. Overall a very nice experience, I just wish they had the option to take your leftovers with you! Such a waste of food.

High end department store in Amsterdam and the food court offers mostly freshly prepared dishes. More attention should be paid to keeping the chairs and tables clean though.

De Bijenkorf on Dam Square is more than a high‑end department store - it’s a 5‑floor feast of modern design, fashion and culture with a café, art gallery and even small concerts. I stopped by in early September when the weather was comfy with plenty of sun and the city felt quieter, making it the perfect time to shop while cycling through Amsterdam.
Ahmed S — Google review
A beautiful and upscale department store in the heart of Amsterdam. Great selection of brands, stylish displays, and a pleasant shopping experience. Perfect for fashion lovers and anyone looking for quality products.
Mariam — Google review
What the heck has happened to department stores? I came to buy a winter coat but left without nothing but a desire for the intimacy of boutiques. This store does not lack for beautiful items, but the glaring lack of customer service is apparent at every turn (including being told items on the shelves are NOT for sale and attempting to pay at the "wrong" cash register--manned by a salesperson with a conspicuous lack of common sense!) I love good quality clothing manufactured at the highest integrity and standards for humans, so please don't make me forgo building my 12-piece capsule.

RIJKS® is an upscale restaurant located within the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, offering elegant dishes inspired by local ingredients. The restaurant aims to create edible art using Dutch-produced or -influenced products, resulting in a vegetable-heavy menu of mainly small plates featuring unique delights such as red cabbage gazpacho and celeriac with hazelnut miso.
Fabulous lunch on a Sunday afternoon at Rijks. We had the lunch set menu + wine pairing and some additional dishes. The wine pairing perfect with the food. The dishes were beautifully presented, well thought through and balanced. The sweetbreads were absolutely delicious with a South African Syrah as a pairing. The staff are attentive and the overall service excellent. kudos to the kitchen.

Are you kidding me? This is a Michelin-starred restaurant?! Easily the worst one I’ve ever been to. The food was disappointing—mostly Western dishes mixed with Chinese sauces, which didn’t work for me. But the real shocker was the lack of service. We arrived a bit earlier than our 11:30 reservation. They weren’t open yet, which we understood—but when it suddenly started raining, we asked if we could wait inside. They said no, as they weren’t ready yet. No one offered any alternative or showed basic hospitality. A few minutes later, when the rain had already stopped, they told us we could come in to wait. Like… what’s the point? Thank you? During the meal, no one checked on our table. When a server cleared our plates, she dropped my friend’s utensils onto her chair while my friend was in the washroom—then picked them up without cleaning the chair. After we finished eating, our empty dishes sat there for over 5 minutes with no one in sight. Then a fruit fly started circling. My partner killed it (photo attached), and when we pointed it out to the server, she just said there was nothing they could do—no apology, no gesture, just dropped off the bill. They did waive one dish from the bill, but that’s not what we were asking for. Was a simple apology really that hard? Definitely would not recommend this place!

We truly enjoyed our evening at Rijks. The service was flawless - our water glasses were filled regularly, the cutlery was exchanged after every dish, the wine pairing and my non-alcoholic pairing were served perfectly on time with the corresponding dishes. We asked for a different main course than stated on the set “Tafel” menu, which was no problem at all. Even though there was no official non-alcoholic drink pairing, they created one for me. The food was excellent and the Sweetbread - the chef’s signature dish - was a highlight. Thank you for this lovely evening!

We had a great dining experience at Rijks. The service was warm and professional. The food was everything you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant: creative, precise and beautifully plated. The highlight was of course their famous beetroot millefeuille, great presentation and flavor. Balance of sweet, earthy and savory with a beurre blanc sauce that brings everything together. The wine list deserves a special mention as well: it's well curated with some older vintages and interesting options to pair with your dishes. The atmosphere is modern but relaxed, next time we'll make sure to book a seat by the kitchen to make the most out of the open kitchen. Highly recommended!

It was another absolute culinary highlight evening at Rijks by JorisBijdendijk. The welcome from Robin Toen immediately put me at ease, and that feeling lasted throughout the evening. Chef Friso van Amerongen and his team created a top-class vegetarian menu with “Garden.” Once again, I experienced brilliant flavor combinations that I had never encountered before. This was accompanied by great non-alcoholic drinks, and the service at Rijks is always more than sensational. And when Friso handed me a loaf of bread from Wils bakery cafe, I floated back to the hotel in complete bliss. What a wonderful evening of indulgence.

Review of Rijks – Vegetarian Tasting Menu (Tuin | Garden) Walking into Rijks, you immediately sense that this isn’t a “typical museum restaurant.” It’s refined without being intimidating, and the service sets the tone for what turns out to be a remarkable dining journey. For my first-ever vegetarian tasting menu — and at a Michelin-starred restaurant — I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Courses & Impressions... Tomaat (Tomato, Strawberry, Honey, Basil) A surprising opener that danced between savory and sweet. The brightness of tomato lifted by basil, with strawberry and honey adding both freshness and depth, instantly set the stage for how imaginative this menu would be. Fruits de Terre (Amazake, Shio Koji, Poppy Seed Tahini) Earthy, nutty, and umami all at once. The amazake and shio koji provided a subtle fermentation complexity, while the tahini grounded the dish. A fascinating “soil-meets-ferment” plate that showed just how far vegetables can go in flavor expression. Tuinboon (Broad Bean, Sea Lavender, Pistachio, Lemon Verbena) This plate was a revelation in texture — the creaminess of the beans, the gentle crunch of pistachio, and an herbal lift from lemon verbena. It tasted like a garden in peak summer, delicate but assertive. Pom Pom Blanc (Lion’s Mane, Celeriac Bordelaise, Hollandaise, Curry Leaf Oil) Lion’s mane mushrooms are often praised for their “meaty” bite, and here they were elevated with a Bordelaise richness and the silkiness of hollandaise. The curry leaf oil gave it a subtle aromatic twist. A dish that blurs the line between plant-based and classic French fine dining. Millefeuille of Beetroot... The star of the menu! Even though it was an add-on, this was a piece of edible art. Beetroot layered like pastry, bringing both visual drama and earthy sweetness. Worth the indulgence. Glazed BBQ Tempeh (Oatmeal, Zucchini, Ajipanca) Smoky, hearty, and comforting, this was perhaps the most surprising course. Tempeh, often dismissed as “hippie food,” was transformed into something gourmet. The Peruvian ajipanca pepper added depth without overpowering. Bijenwas (Beeswax, Honey, Elderflower, Black Fruits) A poetic finish — floral, fruity, and lightly sweet. The beeswax brought an almost ethereal texture, while elderflower and black fruits tied it together like the closing note of a symphony. Overall Experience... This menu was one of the best gastronomic journeys of my life. Every dish was layered, thoughtful, and elegant... not once did it feel like a compromise for being a vegetarian meal. Instead, it showcased the creativity and depth that vegetables can offer when handled with care. Rijks isn’t just a place to eat; it’s an education in flavour, a conversation with Dutch soil, and a reminder that vegetables can stand proudly at the center of haute cuisine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable, and worth returning to Amsterdam for!!!

I took the 5 course degustation menu plus the signature dish. Overall food is great, I really enjoyed the signature dish but I was not impressed with the Duck which was the last dish.
Nelson G — Google review
If possible, we would have rated 3.5 stars, not quite 4, not quite 3. RIJKS offers a very experimental and flavorful dining experience with unique tastes. We tried both the vegetarian and classic menus, and found the vegetarian option to be the better choice. The highlight of the evening was the signature dish, which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the other dishes didn't quite meet this standard. The surroundings are beautiful, but we had hoped for a more historic atmosphere given the association with the Rijksmuseum. Similarly, the choices of music seem a bit confusing ranging from “Harvest Moon” and Disco Funk to Electronic Chill. We have previously dined at the Chef's other restaurant, Wils, which we enjoyed much more. Hence, overall, we left feeling a bit disappointed.

It has beautiful home decors, bedding, utensils, clothing, food and drinks, make up, cadels and stationary sections with much more. I love the stationary section the most and cannot resist. Love always visiting.

Although their selection is limited, their prices are reasonable, and they have plenty of offers. They also have a special corner for gifts.

Great shop, they've got everyday household items, clothes, make-up, food, two cafes, toilets (€ 0,40 cent), stuff for bikes, beds, you name it. They'll help you out and prices are good, good quality too. Recommend it! It's a chain all over the Netherlands but this is a big shop of theirs.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Johan! He was incredibly helpful, patient, and went above and beyond to assist me when I truly needed it. I can’t thank him enough; he really saved me, and I genuinely believe he deserves Employee of the Month for the way he handled my situation. Before connecting with Johan, I had spoken with another employee who was unfortunately very rude and unwilling to help. When I asked if she could check something for me, she simply said “no” and left it at that. It was very discouraging. Thankfully, I tried again and got Johan....what a complete difference! He not only helped but did so with kindness and professionalism. I’m super appreciative of everything he did for me.

Dutch restaurant
The Pantry is a cozy restaurant that offers a quintessentially Dutch dining experience. The interior resembles a traditional Dutch home, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features hearty and comforting dishes such as stamppot and hutspot, which are traditional mashed vegetable dishes served with smoked sausage or meatballs. The portions are generous, and the focus is on traditional Dutch cuisine.
Main oven was down when we visited and they were serving appetizers and small plates of some of the main dishes - which was perfect for us as we could then sample more dishes with smaller portions. Mashed potatoes with sauerkrauts, mashed potatoes with carrots and onions, beef croquettes, beef stew, meatball and smoked sausage. Food was amazing, flavorful and well balanced. So good And to top off, service was excellent! Definitely worth another visit!
Grace C — Google review
Warm & friendly service; a beautifully designed, cozy atmosphere, and most of all, delicious Dutch dishes. The vegetarian bitterballen was excellent - crispy on the outside without being oily, with great texture & flavour on the inside. Also really enjoyed the combination mashed potatoes to try the different flavours (kale, carrot, & cauliflower) that were each unique. Bonus that everything was extremely reasonably priced. Very highly recommend for the loveliest experience of traditional Dutch cuisine & hospitality!

Cozy little restaurant that's been serving the highest quality classic Dutch food for 25 years. We went on our first night in Amsterdam and it was the perfect place to start our trip. Service was so warm and friendly. They have a number of quick 3 course options if you haven't done a lot of research on the local food. We went with the ala carte option and had the best pea soup I've EVER had, their bitterballen which were fantastic and we split the XXL combination of hutspot which was more than enough food. Everything was wonderful. Definitely try their house beer "The Pantry", it's delicious! Make sure you make a reservation at least 30 days out if not more. It's a small restaurant and timeslots fill up fast. Thanks so much!

Great place to get a quick intro to dutch cuisine. Here you can try the bitter ballen and then the combination sausage meatball traditional dishes. Excellent service and they take credit cards. Highly recommend.

Amazing! Can’t describe how kind the staff and the owner is, everything is so cozy and receptive, you feel welcome all the time, and the food?? The croquettes(bitterballen) can’t leave my mind, delicious, I would order over and over again… love everything 💕

We loved the Dutch food, the atmosphere and the service. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have set menus, very good value. They offer vegetarian version for some of the menus. It is advisable to book in advance as it is really busy.

This was my first time in Amsterdam, and I’m glad we went to The Pantry. We chose the Dutch 3-course menu, and all the dishes were so good 😋. The staff and atmosphere were amazing as well. My favorite part was also their house beers 🍺 If you visit Amsterdam and want to try Dutch dishes, I highly recommend The Pantry!

Nestled just a stone's throw from the picturesque Vondelpark, TOZI Restaurant & Bar invites you to indulge in the rich flavors of Venetian-inspired cuisine right in the heart of Amsterdam. This charming eatery specializes in cicchetti, delightful small plates perfect for sharing with friends and family. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering dishes such as homemade focaccia, sea bass carpaccio, and exquisite buffalo ricotta ravioli adorned with black truffle.
Food was top quality, staff was amazing and the atmosphere really great! I asked them to make the "feat menu" which is for two persons, only for me and they accommodate so nicely! I had an amazing 7+ course dinner and enjoyed so much!
Erzen K — Google review
Everything was good. Not great. Had missing cutlery and napkin when the first course arrived, during the second course the plates were missing again and the spaghetti was lukewarm at best and had a little more black pepper than needed, overpowering the taste of the truffle and spaghetti. Seemed like 1 person was missing to allow the staff to be more attentive for the customers. Can’t really complain about the food, it is good. But again, for a restaurant of this caliber, the small things add up to an overall less than satisfactory experience. Not a bad one overall, but could easily be improved.
MSJ — Google review
I have never been in such a wonderful restaurant than Tozi in the Netherlands. Everybody was so nice and polite, the food was amazing like in Italy. Here you can get quality over quantity, but if you order the shared meals you can easily get full. I only can recommend this place.👌🏻
Erika D — Google review
ordered a tasting menu at Tozi & it started out strong! House made focaccia & the tuna were the clear winners. ricotta Cheese & truffle ravioli was a bit overwhelming (personally don’t like ricotta), but the texture was perfection! i wish the eggplant parmigiana were a bit more breaded for texture (overall was a bit soggy & thick with sauce) tiramisu ratio was off although i enjoyed the cup presentation! (too much crème per cookie)

I love trying new restaurants and coming back if they meet my main requirements: Good service, delicious food, efficient service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I must say that I've wanted to try this place for a long time, and today I finally had the chance to come. I'm very happy with the experience, 100% recommended. I know many restaurants, and this is on my list of restaurants I'll return to without a second thought! Thank you for the delicious food and the good ambiance. I'm a pastry chef, and wherever there's good service and food, I'm happy to enjoy it! Thank you very much, especially to the waiter Elia; he's excellent with his guests.

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs. It opened in 1972 and is dedicated to the life and art of Vincent van Gogh, one of the most revered painters in the Netherlands.
We try to visit an art museum in every city we visit and this was a great one! Very organized timed entry and exit. The audio tour was great and the art was obviously amazing. It was also a good size, but not so big your feet hurt by the end. :) Definitely a must see if you visit Amsterdam but buy your tickets well in advance!
Carrie F — Google review
Must visit if you like art even one tiny bit. I'm not an art aficionado myself but I can't not be amazed by Van Gogh's Paintings. You cannot buy tickets at the gate. It must be pre purchased online beforehand. Please note the starry night (Van Gogh's most famous painting) is not here. But they have other amazing paintings including another masterpiece - The potato eaters. The lighting is not nice. It's dull yellow and doesn't do justice to the colours. It should be much brighter. One thing which was not nice was the locker system to keep your backpack which is not allowed inside. It's free but had no instructions. You first need to go to the panel and enter a code and it will assign a locker. The shop is also nice, they have some really good items for sale. Overall worth every penny !

An absolutely incredible experience! Visiting the Van Gogh Museum was a highlight of my trip to Amsterdam. The collection is extraordinary, featuring the world’s largest selection of Van Gogh’s masterpieces. Each room takes you deeper into his life, his emotions, and the evolution of his unique artistic style. From the iconic Sunflowers to The Bedroom and many of his lesser-known works, every painting tells a story and invites you to linger, reflect, and truly appreciate the genius behind them. A tip for anyone planning to visit: go early! The museum can get crowded, and you’ll want plenty of quiet time to soak in the details of each painting. I found myself captivated for hours, moving slowly from one room to the next, completely immersed in the colors, textures, and emotions Van Gogh captured on canvas. The museum is beautifully organized, and the exhibits provide excellent context about his life, influences, and struggles. The combination of his art and the informative displays makes this not just a visit, but an emotional journey through one of the most brilliant artistic minds in history. If you love art, history, or simply want to experience something that stays with you long after leaving, this museum is a must-visit. I left feeling inspired, awed, and grateful for the opportunity to witness these masterpieces up close. Truly unforgettable! 🎨

Let’s be honest this is one of those things that everyone tells you have to see. If you’re visiting Amsterdam, you’re probably going whether you want to or not. Take the back staircase that gives you a great view of the area below. I actually recommend going all the way to the top first and then working your way down. Don’t worry about going to the first gift shop you see there’s multiple gift shops there. They’re also is a few really great views to be had depending on where you stop for a coffee. The architecture of the building itself is actually really enjoyable. There’s a lot of art to be seen so if you walk into one room and it’s crowded just circle back to it later. Budget a few hours, but don’t spend the whole day because there’s a ton to do in the surrounding area.

I was satisfied with my visit. Unfortunately, the Starry Night effect was not in this museum. It was neat and good. The lockers had an interesting system for storing personal belongings. I think it would have been better if someone there helped those who had problems with the lockers. We booked the tickets a day in advance. Our visit took about 3 hours.
Vahid E — Google review
I had a great experience. I would say it would take 1.5-2 hours to get through the museum. There is a lot of people (of course) which does make it harder to enjoy but what can you do. There is a lot to learn about his life. There are some other artists who were his friend or inspiration etc. The gift shops/ cafe are about the size of the museum itself but it has a huge selection too and reasonably priced. There are also lockers to store your bags/ coat hangers so you don’t have to carry around so much and can enjoy the works of art.

What an experience. That was such an amazing and chill museum. So many beautiful paintings and so many interesting informations about van gogh and his life. But also a lot of side facts and other artists. I definitely recommend this museum if you love art, van gogh and if you love to feel like your in another world. Time goes by so fast and its so much fun.

Nice art Museum! -Im not a huge art lover, or know more then a handfull of famous paintings, but i know Van Gogh is one of them, so when i was in Amsterdam i made a stop here for a little over 1 hour. -Entrance is outside, and you go down a escalator to the main reception area -The reception area has some seating, it has locker room, lockers are free and easy to use. There is also a souvenir shop, and washrooms. -Then up another escalator into the main museum, multi story. -You can pick different tours on the self guided device, I picked the highlights one, for the shortest tour. It explained each painting well and lead me to others. I defiantly learned alot about art and Van Gogh from this tour.

The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam is a contemporary art and design museum that was established in 1874. It boasts an extensive collection of over 90,000 works spanning from the 19th to the 21st century, featuring movements such as Bauhaus, Pop-Art, De Stijl, Colorfield, Neo-Impressionism and Minimalism.
If you are not really use to modern and contemporary art, take a deep breath, and step inside. Start slowly in the entrance with some sculptures a zebra and kick off your visit with a nice cappuccino from the cafeteria. We loved it in the end. Make it a journey and sit down relax and enjoy the ride.

My visit to the Stedelijk Museum was truly wonderful! The museum is well-organized and beautiful, featuring an amazing collection of modern and contemporary artworks. I really enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the way the paintings and designs were displayed. I highly recommend visiting it when in Amsterdam!

Very popular museum but not too crowded as the rooms are spacious. The ladies at the front counter are really lovely and helpful (I went two separate days so it wasn’t just pot luck) and this is a nice change to the usual jaded front of house folk at busy museums of Europe. It is a well laid out museum (get a map on arrival) and you can either follow chronologically by decades (which is very good curation) or just wander the rooms at random. Lockers are available, charging ports for your phone in the foyer, at the cafe, and the audio guide to the art works is a good complement to the info on the walls - hold the free audio device to a symbol on the wall and it plays immediately. Excellent emphasis on artists of the Netherlands so if you are from o.s. it’s a refreshing angle on well known art movements. A LOT of male artists’ works are presented which is not the museum’s “fault” but it gets frustrating if you know anything about women artists. However, the works presented by women artists are very good. A minor point: they insist you buy a ticket online even if you’re standing at the front counter and not everyone can do this if you are coming from overseas and have any kind of problems with the credit card purchase of a ticket online. It makes for a bit of a clunky start to your visit and you can tell that the friendly ladies at the counter have been told by management that this is ‘the system’. I wish over the counter ticket sales was something they welcomed. It is great they offer same-day re-entry unlike a lot of other museums.

The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam is a true contemporary art museum — a place where you can see works ranging from early 20th-century masters to artists who are alive and creating today. Both the permanent collection and the temporary exhibitions are absolutely worth seeing. The museum features many works connected to De Stijl, Constructivism, and Suprematism. I still can’t forget the feeling of awe when I saw Chagall’s originals there for the first time — the works of a fellow Belarusian. I literally got goosebumps in that moment. I usually visit this museum about twice a year — sometimes to revisit the permanent collection, and sometimes to explore new exhibitions. They curate excellent shows. I saw the exhibition by Miriam Cahn, an Israeli artist reflecting on the wars in Israel and Ukraine — perfectly in tune with the current need to reinterpret world events through art. I also attended the Marina Abramović performance retrospective — absolutely breathtaking — and the Anselm Kiefer exhibition, which was the most impressive show I’ve seen in 2025. I highly recommend both the permanent collection and the rotating exhibitions held several times a year, you’ll find true gems there.
Maryna K — Google review
Impressive collection, I’ve been here before, this time for Erwin Olaf freedom exhibition, I’ve spent 4 hours here, I finish this museum at the basement exhibition featuring Sandra Mujinga, love it! Feeling so surreal, love the spacing here! Make sure you got enough time for this!

Immerse yourself in the world of one of the most famous beer brands at the Heineken Experience, located in Amsterdam's De Pijp district. Housed in a former 19th-century brewery, this interactive museum takes you through the history of Heineken, from its origins to modern-day marketing. Explore four floors filled with brewing artifacts, multimedia exhibits, and even a quirky 4D ride that simulates being brewed and bottled.
Such a great place! Go learn about a fantastic global beer that started right in Amsterdam! Recommend the tour and rooftop! The tour was pretty quick but very interesting - but a nice spot for a couple beers at the end! Then the rooftop is where it’s at - such a great view of the city! Amazing gift shop with a little bit of everything!

Absolutely blown away from start to finish! The Heineken Experience in Amsterdam is a truly polished, world-class attraction — not just for those with an interest in beer, but for anyone who enjoys a fun, interactive, and high-quality experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless and well thought out. The tour guides and staff are an absolute credit to Heineken — all so friendly, engaging, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they do. You can really tell they love being there, and it makes the whole visit that much better. As someone who works in facilities management, I have to mention the cleanliness — it’s impeccable. Not a speck of dust to be found anywhere! The toilets were spacious and spotless, not one light out or a single scuff mark on the walls — and believe me, I looked. This place is a genuine case study in operational excellence. The experience itself gives you a real sense of pride in Heineken; it’s now my go-to beer! The tasting sessions were fantastic, the beer was fresh and delicious, and the rooftop bar offered stunning views — the perfect way to end the tour. It’s not just a cash grab either — there are plenty of fun extras and freebies along the way, and at under €30 per person, it’s an absolute bargain. A must for anyone visiting Amsterdam — you’ll leave with a smile, a pint, and a newfound appreciation for one of the world’s most iconic beers. 🍺🌿🇳🇱

I’ve wanted to go to the Heineken Brewery for ages and I was sad to say I was a little bit disappointed. The tour was very informative, I enjoyed learning about the beer and brand. But I personally didn’t like some of the interactive elements of the tour, it just felt like space filler unfortunately... The section of the tour where “you are a beer bottle” is brilliant, the tour guides were honestly one of the best parts, they were absolutely brilliant and so funny. The bar at the end of the tour needs more seated areas and tables - it would have been nice to sit and drink my beers instead of just awkwardly stood around.

Ok fun experience if youve never done a brewery tour before. They make it more fun and pop. Rooftop area is beautiful. I guess if its your first time in Amsterdam, this is a must stop attraction. But they focus on making it a bit more fun and sporty rather than historical which was what i was expecting.

This is a really fun place to visit whether your a fan of the beer or not, it certainly helps if you are that said which we where! Very fun and informative experience. Came a few years ago and was great to see all the new improvements they have made such as the ride.

Decent half a day experience with the mrs. Never really been a fan of Heineken. It is a bit of a soul-less pint if you've had other good beers from across the world but definitely worth the visit for the history and how it became one of the biggest beer brands in the world. At the end of the day it felt a bit stretched because a pint is a pint is a pint but loads of activities and infographics keep you occupied. The bar at the end of the tour is pretty cool and better than some of the ones out there in the tourist districts. Definitely needs to be experienced once kind of visit this one.
Saurabh K — Google review
It's a must-stop for all beer and history lovers. The guides are very engaging, the tour is interesting, and the ice-cold beer at the end of the visit is a great reward. Not to forget the incredible souvenir shop. Highly recommended!

I loved diving into Heineken’s story, it started back in 1864 when Gerard Adriaan Heineken kicked off this Amsterdam brewery that’s now everywhere. Those old copper kettles really bring the traditional brewing to life, showing how they nailed that fresh, crisp taste. Marketing today is all about sports, unity, and going green, with ads heading digital and sustainable next. Tour ends perfectly with cold draft beers; smooth, tasty, and just what you need after walking around.

Pancake restaurant
Poffertjes Albert Cuyp is a popular pancake stall located in the heart of Albert Cyup market in Amsterdam. They serve traditional mini Dutch pancakes, known as poffertjes, which are made fresh to order and topped with powdered sugar and butter. Customers can also choose from a variety of toppings such as Nutella, caramel, mokka, white chocolate, Oreos, strawberries, and whipped cream for an additional cost.
Transcendent. Served warm and fresh atop a knob of butter and dusted with powdered sugar. I kid you not this was a glowing piece of heavenly delight. So simple but so incredibly done. I have only been so truly blown away by a handful of times and this was one of them. Highly recommend you set aside time (and stomach space) on a visit to Albert Cuyp market. The line wasn’t long either.
Shahzad M — Google review
Really nice poffertjes on the market! I chose to get them with powdered sugar and butter (the standard). It was really nice and quick but maybe a tad bit too much butter. As it was on a market i won’t rate the atmosphere as it is just a market stall!
Paris P — Google review
Tried the mini pancakes at Albert Cuyp Market — today I went for the raspberry flavor. At first, I thought it would be real raspberries, but it turned out to be just raspberry-flavored candy. The pancakes themselves were quite good — sweet and rich — though adding the topping made them a bit too sweet.
SUNNY D — Google review
Best place for authentic Dutch Poffertjes. You can enjoy freshly baked and hot poffertjes with butter and powdered sugar. There are also various options of customizing poffertjes with different types of toppings but if you are looking for authentic experience, go for the plain ones wihhout toppings. They also accept card payments.

Fine dining restaurant
Sinne is a charming restaurant located in the lively De Pijp neighborhood of Amsterdam. The cozy interior, featuring exposed brick walls and rustic wooden tables, sets the stage for an inviting dining experience. Executive Chef Alexander Ioannou's innovative take on Dutch cuisine shines through in the seasonal dishes that highlight bold flavors and fresh ingredients. This French-Mediterranean eatery offers set menus with a variety of appetizers, mains, and desserts, showcasing modern and international culinary creations.
Restaurant Sinne offers fine dining. We opted for the six dinner menu with accompanying wines. Food was great. The wines as well, but a bit played too much on the safe side; the wines could have been a bit more adventurous. Service is good and not too formal. A really good experience.
Jo D — Google review
The service was really nice, and they have a great selection of wines. The presentation was on point, and the dishes offered a fascinating mix of flavors—definitely something you wouldn’t try at home. The execution of each dish was intriguing and quite unique. While some in our group found the flavor combinations a bit challenging, it was overall a great culinary adventure. Definitely a nice spot for a special occasion!
M. — Google review
A very disappointing experience. I hope someone from Michelin visits them soon because they definitely do not deserve the star they have. The food was just ok-ish, the “most expensive” dish was the beef, so I don’t understand how the price is justified. The service was incredibly bad, the waiters were very rude. Almost none of the dishes or wines were explained to us, and when we tried to have a small conversation with the waiters, they just walked away from the table and left us talking to ourselves. Clearly, this restaurant does not deserve a Michelin star.

Marvelous dinner experience! We went to Sinne Restaurant for a 4 course dinner with wine paring. Food just above all possible grades. Amazing! We enjoyed every course to the last piece. Wine paring is very exotic and unusual, off the beaten trail. Recommend to everyone! Our regards to the chef and the team!

I had lunch at this Michelin one-star restaurant yesterday, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing and far below the expected standard. The server was quite rude and unprofessional — not only in attitude but also in appearance, wearing low-waist pants that revealed part of his underwear. Additionally, he did not know how to handle guests’ coats properly, simply handing mine back instead of presenting it appropriately. The chair I was seated on was dirty, which added to the overall sense of carelessness. For a Michelin-starred establishment, these details are unacceptable. I agree with several previous reviews mentioning similar concerns. I truly hope Michelin will re-evaluate this restaurant’s current standard, as it certainly did not reflect the level of service and quality that one would expect from a starred venue.

Outstanding and well-deserving of their Michelin star. The staff were lovely, the ambience was really nice, and the food was excellent! Also very vegetarian friendly!

Very nice casual atmosphere, but extremely good service and food. No surprise this place as won a Michelin star for 5 years running. Thank you for looking after us, couldn't decide which course was out favourite my wife liked your famous celeriac course the best I actually loved the mushroom brioche course the best.

Overall I would avoid this restaurant. The food did not taste bad but the “food science” only seems to detract from the food. You can tell the chefs have talent but the purées and imagined style brings down rather than elevates each dish, the food was too salty, heavy, and over sauced. The presentation is the highlight of this meal, but I can’t taste with my eyes. Though when you realize a lot of the dishes are upside down bowls and cups it just cheapens the experience. While not bad, when paying over 125 euros per person (without drinks), I just expect a higher standard. With so many amazing restaurants in Amsterdam, you’re better off eating elsewhere. P.s. - the staircase down to the bathroom is an accident waiting to happen. If you do the wine pairing be careful or you’ll end up in the hospital

Restaurant Floreyn offers a modern take on traditional Dutch cuisine, known as the New Dutch Cuisine. The dining room features local references such as a wall-mounted bike sculpture and a NAP zero-elevation marker, indicating that diners are below sea level. The menu showcases dishes like pickled mackerel with horseradish ice cream and roast roe deer with deer-liver balkenbrij.
Nice vibe. The waiters Eric and Jeffery were absolutely adorable. Knowledgeable on their wines and detailed explanations of the menu items which they served with flair. Decor could use some work. Food was really good. We did the 8? Course menu with wine selection which was delightful.

The food quality was top notch. Every dish was perfectly balance. Really loved the foie gras dish, best I have ever had. It was very well balanced with the pear and coffee. The potato dish was well executed with depth of flavour from the smoked eel and komba. First time trying pickle herring and it was amazing with the horseradish ice cream. Lastly, the dessert - hay ice cream, topped with goat yogurt, cardamom and rhubarb meringue. Not too sweet, so a perfect dessert for perfect meal. Thank you to the chef and service team.

Overall very nice experience. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant, the atmosphere is cosy and quiet (lounge music in the background allowing people to talk without shouting). We did the 8-course menu, all dishes were well presented however two dishes didn’t meet our expectations due to the veggies not being very tasty. We opted for Dutch wines which was an interesting discovery, though a bit overpriced (min 13€ a glass) for the wine quality. One last point is to make sure you get a proper table (vs high table/chai) as the chair back is not very comfortable for a 3h dinner, we woke up with back pain the next day…

By focusing on the original of the raw material, it creates the soft and natural taste and flavor. The pairing with Dutch wine was a good expression of the Netherlands. It was so delicious and good experience. I'll definitely visit here next time. I think it would be better to get a better rating and grade. I think you'll be registered with the Michelin Guide soon.

We brought visiting family here and were very pleased with everything. The concept is simple: fining dining with Dutch food. The atmosphere is nice but not fancy. The lighting was slightly dim, but you could still easily read the menu. Staff was wonderful and explained everything. Food was very good with lots of varying textures and flavors. Nothing comes out the way you expect it, and that's a good thing. Our cocktails were very good as well. Overall, very impressed and will go again!

A casual looking cafe with a great tasting menu that betrays its real culinary capabilities. Food was fantastic and well paced with a good spread of lighter and heavier dishes. Restaurant staff were considerate and very helpful, even preparing a baby seat for my toddler when I mentioned her in the booking. Definitely a child friendly restaurant. Not sure whether a compliment or a complaint, but individual food portions were slightly on the larger side. Our tiny Asian bellies were struggling to keep up towards the end.

Must go! Really nice, tasty and well presented food! We went for the 3 courses menu (around 37€) and was perfect. The dessert is really surprising with the cucumber marshmallow. The staff is really nice and welcoming. The chef brought and explained all dishes which is nice. I will definitely come back!

This sophisticated restaurant serves up a delicious Dutch taste experience. We went for the chefs menu, finishing up with a selection of amazing cheeses, which we personally selected from their main cheese board. Very unique, accomplished cooking, using local, seasonal vegetables. Nice wine pairings also, and service is impeccable, with a clear explanation of each dish. A tad expensive, but worth every penny.

The Anne Frank House, located in the heart of Amsterdam, is a museum that offers visitors a glimpse into the harrowing experience of Anne Frank and her family during World War II. Housed in the actual building where they hid from the Nazis for two years, the museum provides an immersive look at this dark period in history. Visitors can explore the old part of the house and the secret annex, gaining insight into Anne Frank's story and Amsterdam's wartime past.
You need to buy tickets online in advance! They go on sale 6 weeks prior to your date of entry on Tuesdays. I forget the time but for US purchase, I had to get up at 3 am and they sold out pretty fast. It's worth it! You get timed entry so be there on time! It's a really nice facility. You enter from the street side and can use toilets before going into the museum. You'll get an audio tour in your language but in 2025 it did not talk while in the secret annex so learn about the rooms before you visit to maximize to your experience! Be sure to go see the house from the canal side too as that is the famous side! There is a small plaque on the house that says "Anne Frank Haus" or something really similar to that! Go, being in the rooms makes you appreciate that 8 people spent 22 months living in that space and helps you understand their plight with new eyes. No pictures or video allowed. Also they have some of Anne Franks writings on display after you leave the secret annex.
Paula C — Google review
Great unique experience. They give you individual audio pods which hosts several languages. This gallery is the home that Anne Frank found refuge with her family before they were found. As you enter each room, you scan the room# as it narrates events in her life. There is a bookstore and café shop located at the end of the tour. Rsvp online purchase as it is busy, but not really a long wait when it get there. Goes fast and the tour is about an hour long.

Impressive, very well conserved. Autoguided visit. No photos allowed in the hidden house, only in the visitors centre for the ones who buy the ticket+introdutory lesson (30 minutes for an overview of the history, I fully recommend). It can be a little sufocating not only because of the place but also about the history that happened inside. It is impossible going there and not feel bad about what these walls have listened and witnessed. It is a painful but necessary visit.
Carol P — Google review
Really would recommend. The audio tour helps paint a picture of what it was like back then. Imagining having to be quiet so you weren't heard. Seeing the original features really brings it to life.
Louise G — Google review
A solemn and moving museum to remind humanity not to repeat such horrific events. The courage of not only the Frank family but also the saints who helped this family was displayed. It filled my heart to see that the dreams of a young girl was fulfilled although she was denied to live her life.
Amy T — Google review
Amazing! You cannot take photos inside, they have coat check so you can bring your bag to leave there. They also provide speaker phone type of device in many different languages. I have a spinal condition and was able to make all of the stairs! I highly recommend.
Meyri D — Google review
Extremely valuable to understand the extreme personal suffering of the Jewish Experience in Europe. Most, if not all, of the Dutch Jewish populations was transported out to internment camps for extermination. ONLY OTTO FRANK returned alive—every other person in hiding was murdered by the Nazi regime. The house makes you feel what it was like to live for two years under this pressure, then still be discovered. Very somber and moving tour of the actual hiding spaces, with a few real remnants too. NOTE: You MUST get tickets WELL in advance! You will not get tickets the day of your visit at the museum. Also note, there are many, many tight, high wooden stairs and you need to actually jump up to the hiding places where the families lived. If you have any physical mobility issues, I do NOT recommend this experience. Also, it can be quite crowded and claustrophobic, so also avoid if you have those issues.
Julie S — Google review
It is a beautiful experience. I would definitely recommend it. We came from the US. I purchase my tickets the week before on a Tuesday, but highly recommended purchasing at least 2 to 3 weeks before on Tuesdays. They release the tickets. Make sure you go to the official website it is about €16 per person. It is great touchy and definitely feels like a whole different atmosphere when you’re here. It’s a messy visit if you come to Amsterdam.

Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, part of a global museum chain featuring lifelike wax figures of famous personalities and historical icons, has been captivating visitors since its opening in 1972. Located in the heart of Amsterdam near Dam Square, this attraction boasts five themed floors filled with interactive displays and props. It's a great place to visit with family, especially if you're traveling with children or teenagers who will enjoy exploring the different levels.
Wow! What fabulous experience. There is something for everyone to enjoy. You get to see famous Hollywood actors, Sports persons, Political leaders etc. If you are a Rock fan, you can see him also. Don't miss if you are in Amsterdam.

It is recommended to buy tickets in advance for a certain time slot arrival. Although, you can arrive earlier or late as long as you have the tickets you will get in. There is a queue for tickets purchased earlier. Upon your entry you will receive a barcode to use while you explore, but it is purely to create more art/photos etc which you can purchase on your exit, on top of the ticket price, which is not cheap anyway. You can a photo shoot with many stars statues, some better some worse looks alike.
Krzysztof Z — Google review
We visited in the evening and bought our tickets on the spot, though it might be worth checking online for better deals. Overall, the place is nice and worth experiencing at least once. You can easily spend 1–2 hours inside exploring and discovering the different wax figures.

It was way better than expected! A really fun experience with many familiar faces - both from pop culture to politics and royalties. I have been in London and Berlin but stupidly never considered going to Madame Tussauds there, but after this experience, I wish I had! A tad expensive though. And would definitely recommend booking in advance.

It worth every penny we spent on ticket. The staff members are so nice. My kid lost her fav toy near the entrance. They kept it safe and handed it over when we came back after the visit. The museum has statues of many famous people all around the world. Also comic characters. It takes almost whole day to complete the visit. WC is available inside free of charge.

I got a ticket through the lottery so for me it was a free experience. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay for it as much as the tickets cost. However, the experience was really nice so it just depends on your spending priorities. There was the ability to take many pictures throughout the experience but you need to scan a ticket at a machine each time you wanna take a picture and many of them were somehow broken. Also, you need to pay to get the pictures in the end. There were some cool wax figures, they are a little bit scary but also pretty fun to see and you can interact with some things. We did a little model cat walk for example. All in all a nice experience but I wouldn’t pay too much money for it.
Wolke M — Google review
This was so much fun! The staff was friendly. Would have been nice to see more iconic figures like Lucille Ball or Princess Di, Johnny Carson or something. I get it but there's a whole world of legends missed. My favorite part was Marvel!!!! But good family fun!

Didn't need to queue for long with my Go City prebooked tix. A small museum, approx 1 hr to get around. Some great wax works but definitely not to size. Some interactive areas which is entertaining. Would recommend

Dam Square

4.5
(45189)
Historical landmark
Dam Square, a historic and bustling public square in the heart of Amsterdam, has been a popular gathering place since the 17th century. Flanked by the iconic Royal Palace, it offers countless opportunities for captivating Instagram photos. The nearby church showcases an impressive organ, stained glass windows, and periodic special exhibitions. With its vibrant atmosphere and rich cultural experience, Dam Square is a must-visit destination in Amsterdam.
Dam Square is truly the heart of Amsterdam and a place you simply can’t miss when visiting the city. It’s always full of life — whether it’s street performers, tourists snapping photos, or locals just passing through — there’s a unique energy here that captures the spirit of Amsterdam perfectly. What I loved most about Dam Square is how it blends history, culture, and everyday city life in one open space. You’re surrounded by iconic landmarks like the Royal Palace, the New Church, and the National Monument. Just standing there, you feel a deep connection to the city’s past and present. The area is very walkable and easy to access from other parts of the city. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants around, so it’s also a great place to stop, relax, and people-watch. I spent a while just sitting on a bench, enjoying the atmosphere and watching the world go by — it felt peaceful despite the crowds. Especially in the evening when the lights come on, the square has a charming, almost magical vibe. Whether you visit during the day or night, Dam Square offers a little bit of everything. A must-see for anyone in Amsterdam!
Berkay — Google review
Dam Square – Amsterdam’s Grand Stage for… Whatever Happens to Show Up If city squares were like fashion runways, Dam Square would be the model who forgot to put on any accessories. Smack in the middle of Amsterdam, it’s a vast open space that could have been spectacular with a few art installations, some imaginative landscaping, maybe even a quirky sculpture or two. Instead, it’s just… open. And empty. Well, not empty-empty—during my stay, it was generously decorated with garbage, strange smells (some unmistakably herbal), and a rotating cast of loiterers who clearly weren’t there to admire Dutch history. More than once, I got the same uneasy feeling other reviewers have mentioned. The city council might want to give this prime real estate a little TLC before it ends up as the cautionary tale in every travel guide. To be fair, there were street performers—some genuinely talented, others clearly using the term “performer” in the loosest possible sense—and they managed to draw in decent crowds. Just remember that “crowd” in any major European square is also shorthand for “pickpocket opportunity,” so keep your wits (and your wallet) about you. Then came Pride week, and the whole square transformed into a high-security fortress. Access was controlled by stern-looking guards who, in my personal experience, were a little too eager with their hands when inspecting bags. Let’s just say that in most professional events, a scanner or detector would suffice, rather than an unsolicited archaeological dig through every zipper and compartment. Not the square’s fault, of course—but a reminder that this central spot could benefit from better, more thoughtful management year-round. Dam Square has potential. It could be iconic. Instead, it’s mostly a blank canvas that, too often, paints itself with the wrong colours.
Its L — Google review
The square is the historic heart of Amsterdam and the origin of the city’s name. It was named after the dam built across the Amstel River in the late 13th century. This dam led to the formation of a settlement that eventually became known as Amsterdam, combining "Amstel" and "dam" into a single name. Since the Middle Ages, the square has served as the city's civic center — hosting the town hall, market, public executions, and religious events. Today, it remains a symbolic focal point, home to landmarks such as the Royal Palace and the National Monument.
Seokjin H — Google review
Dam Square is absolutely breathtaking—massive, vibrant, and full of life. The architecture and open space are beautiful, and it’s surrounded by great views, food vendors, and tons of shopping options just steps away. It’s the perfect spot to take in the energy of Amsterdam, people-watch, and grab a bite while exploring the city. A must-visit!
Benjamin K — Google review
Beautiful place. No wonder it is called the bustling heart of Amsterdam. The historical landmarks around it such as the Royal Palace and the National Monument are all very spectacular. Dam Square is a transport hub and a busy shopping area. We learned from our guide that important national events are often held there. There was a sizable crowd there when we visited the place. The Square is a magnificent sight at night.
Dr G — Google review
Dam Square pulses with movement, locals, tourists, trams, pigeons. It’s the literal and symbolic heart of Amsterdam, framed by grand architecture like the Royal Palace, which began as the city hall in the 17th century, built atop over 13,000 wooden piles. The National Monument anchors the other side, solemn and striking. Crowds linger, performers drift through, and the energy feels constant but not chaotic. Even with all the bustle, there's room to pause and look up.
E P — Google review
Iconic first view when you roll out of the station, a wall of leaning canal houses with glittering water made for photos. Packed with tourists and energy, and I am here for it too 😄. Great place to grab a coffee, people watch, watch boats slide by, and snag the classic skyline shot.

The Royal Palace Amsterdam has a rich history, serving as a town hall during the Dutch Golden Age before becoming the residence of the King when in the city. Its architectural design is influenced by ancient Rome and Greece, featuring a traditional exterior and lavishly decorated interior with marble sculptures, reliefs, and ceiling paintings. The palace boasts one of the world's greatest furniture collections and is open to the public for tours when not in official use.
Great experience! The audio tour is great, good timing and flexible. You can go around the halls you want and click on the corresponding tracks in the device you’re given (for free) at the entrance. Many languages included, with exhaustive explanations. Really like the aesthetic and architecture of the palace. Rooms are really cool and there is very interesting history behind it all. Definitely recommend having a visit!

Beautiful art! Astounding craftsmanship! Overall wonderful experience except for demonstrations having sprayed red paint on the outside windows and walls. We thought our tour was canceled but we entered through another entrance on the other side.

My visit to the Royal Palace in Amsterdam was a truly special experience! The palace is stunning inside and reflects history and elegance in every corner. The interior design is magnificent, and the information provided during the tour was both useful and fascinating. I highly recommend visiting it to discover a beautiful part of Dutch history.

The Palace does not look interesting from the outside, but it is such a gem on the inside. There is an audioguide offered, and you can choose the longer or shorter version to listen to, which I think is very convenient (I would suggest the longer version as this place is worth the time). There may be a group of students or tourists getting in at the same time as you are, so make sure to set aside some time for the possibility of waiting in a queue for the wardrobe.
Ji J — Google review
I took a private tour through Viator of the palace. The sculptures are among the best in the world. The symbolism in each piece is astounding. The rooms are beautiful, and every step you take is heavy with history.
Liz 4 — Google review
Located right in the heart of Dam Square, it’s easy to combine with other nearby attractions. The palace isn’t huge, but its grandeur, detailed interiors, and elegant halls make it well worth a visit. An audio guide is included with your ticket and adds great context to the experience. Set aside at least 1–1.5 hours to explore at a relaxed pace. Don’t miss it if you’re in Amsterdam — it’s a stunning glimpse into Dutch royal history and architectural beauty. Originally built in the 17th century as Amsterdam’s City Hall and later transformed into a royal residence, the Royal Palace remains one of the city’s architectural gems. It’s still used for official royal events such as state visits and ceremonies, so some sections may occasionally be closed to the public.

Cookie shop
Van Stapele Koekmakerij is a renowned bakery nestled in Amsterdam's city center, celebrated for its iconic creation - the Van Stapele cookie. Crafted by Vera van Stapele, this delectable treat features a crispy dark chocolate dough enfolding a luscious white chocolate filling, delivering an exquisite blend of textures and flavors. Despite being high-end, these cookies are priced at around two euros each and are freshly made for every customer.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and smiles, the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. The cookies? Absolutely next-level. Perfectly crisp on the outside, gooey in the middle, and bursting with flavor. Hands down the best cookies I’ve ever had in my life, worth every penny and then some. A must-visit in Amsterdam!

Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of tourist trap that aren’t trapping 🤣 you deserve the hype! Their chocolate cookie (their only cookie) is amazingggggg even when you queue (the queue always look so long, but they’re actually so fast!) you can smell the good stuff there! It is sooooo soft in the middle, with white chocolate melting inside, and crisp on the outsidee oh God i LOVE♥️ and please eat it while it’s hot cause it’s 20000 times betterr! But don’t worry they give a very detailed way to reheat your cookie at home 🤭👍🏻 (1 cookie = 3€, 6 cookie = 15€)

Phenomenal cookie. Stopped by on a Friday morning to finally try “the best cookie in Amsterdam.” I got there about ten minutes before opening, and there were already 10–15 people in line. While waiting, I watched the bakers through the window. White aprons, trays of dough, golden decors, chocolate everywhere, and the whole scene felt straight out of one of those candy-factory montages from old movies. Once inside, the process was simple. They sell only one kind of cookie, so you just choose how many (up to two dozen per person) and whether you want them in a tin or a paper box. Since I was flying them home, I went for the tin, which seemed to be what most people did. The staff were incredibly kind. One of them even handed me the last warm cookie from the tray for free. The cookie was simple but a perfect mix of dark chocolate batter with a core of white valrhona chocolate. It had that deep roasty aroma that lingered without bitterness, and it wasn’t too sweet. I’ll admit, I’ll always measure cookies against the ones my mom baked when I was a kid, but this was the closest I’ve come to that memory of a “perfect chocolate cookie.” They even include reheating instructions, and sure enough, once I pan-warmed them back home, they somehow got even better. My only regret was not getting the full two dozen.
Jea K — Google review
Simply the best cookie we have ever had. The white chocolate filling was so creamy, and fits perfectly within the soft and rich cookie. It’s no wonder the shop continues to draw the crowds with just one item on its menu!
WL L — Google review
My friends and I just happened to walk pass after shopping at Bijenkorf Amsterdam. The queue was long but we still joined in the queue. There’s only one item to purchase yet, it’s so popular. The cookie making at the workshop was an essential part for me while waiting in the queue. While my turn to purchase, the cashier worked efficiently to pack and done. Taste wise, it was good and I adored the texture if the cookies, it’s crunchy on the outside and little chewy on the inside. Not too sweet but that’s excellent for me.
Chelsea Y — Google review
Apparently, this is the must-try cookie shop in Amsterdam, so of course we had to check it out. We even skipped dessert at Bistro de la Mer just so we could try these famous cookies! When we arrived, the line was super long—but it moved really fast. It was actually fun watching the cookie makers through the window as they molded the dough by hand and pressed chunks of white chocolate into the center. Kind of like the see-through kitchen you see at Din Tai Fung, if you know what I mean. The cookies were warm, chewy, and definitely tasty. But honestly, they didn’t blow my mind. If I bake cookies at home and eat them fresh out of the oven, they’re also warm and chewy—so this didn’t feel too different. Still, it was fun to try once and worth the experience. Four cookies cost €12—not exactly cheap—but the packaging is cute, and the shop itself has a great vibe. Overall, glad we tried it, but I probably wouldn’t go back.
Critsy Y — Google review
Insanely amazing cookies! Soft and crispy at the same time! There is always a hugeeeee waiting line so make sure to go early. They shut the moment they are out of cookies and they only bake a limited number of batches everyday. When we went they had a limit of only 8 cookies per person. You get an option to buy in a tin box or a regular paper box. Or even loose cookies if you want a single piece. They cookies are on the expensive side but worth a try.
Devanshi S — Google review
What an absolute gem! Anyone visiting Amsterdam even for a daytrip should definitely try this cookie. Always serving straight out oven when its warm and gooey and so so delicious. 3€ per cookie might sound a bit excessive but it’s worth to try it even just for once. 10/10!

The restaurant boasts a magnificent marble bar, towering ceilings, and sparkling chandeliers that exude the opulence of a palace ballroom. The menu features Mediterranean and French-influenced cuisine with beloved classics like Salade Nicoise and Beef Wellington.
We went there for our anniversary dinner and everything was amazing. The staff were incredibly attentive and every dish we chose was delicious. The handmade pasta, meat and the pesto salad were all outstanding and I still can’t forget the sauce on the asparagus! Also, thank you so much for celebrating our anniversary

Great experience! Friendly staff, very attentive, very informative. Every dish we had was delicious. The Host Gwen was amazing and very helpful. Her recommendations were all on point! Our server Sarah was also very sweet and really making sure we were always kept with drinks and great service. Great lighting as well. Beautiful atmosphere.

We recently hosted an exclusive corporate event at The Duchess, and the entire experience was nothing short of perfection. From the moment we began planning, the team was exceptional, but the evening itself truly exceeded all our expectations. The venue is absolutely spectacular, providing a luxurious and elegant backdrop that impressed all of our guests. The ambiance is simply magical. The food was out of this world—each dish was a work of art and tasted even better than it looked. What truly set our experience apart was the impeccable service. I must give a special shout-out to Ilaria and the entire team who managed our event. Their professionalism, warmth, and incredible attention to detail were second to none. They ensured everything ran flawlessly and made every guest feel welcomed and cared for. Thank you to the entire team at The Duchess for helping us create a truly unforgettable evening. We could not have asked for a better experience. Highly, highly recommended for any special occasion or an incredible dining experience

I recently dined at The Duchess and had a wonderful experience overall. The restaurant has a very classy and elegant atmosphere — perfect for a special evening out. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, which made the night even more enjoyable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A few dishes could have used a touch more salt, but the overall quality and flavors were impressive. My personal highlights were the caviar pasta, scallops, steak tartare, and the lobster and king crab salad — each one perfectly balanced and memorable. The ADE-inspired dessert was also outstanding and a creative way to end the meal. While I didn’t love most of the cocktails I tried, the Sour was exceptional and definitely worth ordering. Their Chablis was also excellent and paired nicely with the seafood dishes. All in all, The Duchess offers a refined dining experience with great food, lovely ambiance, and top-notch service. I’d happily return, especially for that caviar pasta and dessert.

I went to The Duchess for afternoon tea and held my bridesmaid proposal there. The staff was very attentive and the ambience lovely, but the food was disappointing. Maybe it’s because I’ve had afternoon tea in the UK and compare it to that, but the overall quality and taste felt mediocre. The scone even resembled more of a ginger cake than an actual scone. Nice to experience once for the setting, but I wouldn’t return for the food.

Amazing. Our waiter, a tall slim guy, was exceptional to us. From beginning till we left, we were treated like royalty 😄 and a Sicilian guy named Walter was ready to help us with our drinks queries ❤️ We obeyed the dreasing code but there were customers who didn't and were treated just the same

A special place to celebrate! Everything was delicious and it was very difficult to define my top 3: tuna tartar with pistachio, the Gambas and the wellington. we had no more room in our stomach for the desert, unfortunately.

The Duchess was one of the dinner highlights of our Europe honeymoon. Great service, INCREDIBLE food, amazing drinks, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Make sure you have the raw sea bass appetizer! Highly recommend making a reservation as this place gets quite packed.

Pizza restaurant
La Perla Pizzeria is a popular spot in Jordaans Little Italy, known for its thin-and-crispy Roman-style pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven. Since 2009, they have been serving up some of the best pizzas in town, using imported produce from Italy such as buffalo mozzarella, nduja, and cinta senese fennel salami.
Absolutely the most delicious dinner of my entire trip! The freshly made pizza was incredible, and the pizza chef was amazing—tossing the dough with impressive skill! I highly recommend dining in, no matter how long the wait for a table—it’s totally worth it! We even got a delicious tiramisu to end the meal. Thank you so much! The pizza was so good, we came back two days in a row!

They offer wood-oven Italian pizza that was very delicious and flavorful. The kitchen is across from the restaurant and also handles takeout orders. Since the restaurant was fully booked, we ordered from the kitchen side. Fortunately, they had a beautiful table where we could enjoy our pizza fresh out of the oven! The staff were very friendly, and we truly enjoyed the experience

Absolutely delicious pizza! 🍕 The crust was thin and crispy, the toppings were super fresh, and the flavor was perfect. The staff were friendly and the place had a great cozy vibe. Highly recommend La Perla Pizzeria if you’re craving authentic Italian pizza in Amsterdam!

Highly recommend this lovely cozy restaurant! Went there on a Sunday around 15:30, no reservation was needed. We had the salad verde which needed no oil or vinegar. It was super fresh and felt like biting into a cloud! Then we got a Margherita and Puttanesca, both excellent. The mozzarella was so fresh and smooth, and the sauce was a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. We got a karaf of red wine which was amazing and the waiter was super friendly and welcoming. 10/10 experience, definitely revisiting<3 Thank you La Perla

Great pizzas! Atmosphere was on point, good relaxing music to set the mood, the pizzas had a great under carriage with a thin but very tasty crust. Not too much and not too little toppings aswell, just perfect. Customer service was also pretty good. Would recommend

I went to this place following ChatGPT advice while in Amsterdam and it didn’t disappoint. The pizza and tiramisu both hit the spot and were super delicious. The pizza crust and flavor were delish! Highly recommended when visiting Amsterdam and it’s located in a super cozy, beautiful, and not so touristic neighborhood.

Delicious pizza in a central location. Their kitchen is across the street where you can see the oven and how they cook the pizzas. Very good taste, attentive service. Nice selection of pizza.

Park
ARTIS, also known as Amsterdam's "royal zoo," is a historic zoo park established in the 19th century. It features a diverse range of wildlife, including chimps, zebras, elephants, lions, jaguars, and various primates. The expansive grounds offer habitats such as the African savannah and tropical rainforest. Visitors can explore an aquarium complex showcasing coral reefs and shark tanks, as well as a planetarium and kids' petting zoo.
I’ve been to dozens of zoos across the US and Europe and this is one of the most beautiful. Lovely enclosures and the pathways and buildings are lovely as well. The animals seemed quite lively compared to other zoos as well.
Tabatha O — Google review
We had such a wonderful time at this zoo! 🐒🦁 From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized and easy to navigate. The variety of animals was impressive — we saw everything from playful monkeys to majestic lions, and even some adorable penguins. The enclosures were clean and spacious, and it was clear the animals are well cared for. The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions, and there were plenty of spots to rest, grab a snack, or take great photos. It’s a perfect place for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. We left with big smiles and some great memories.
Mohammad H — Google review
We thought we would quickly visit the zoo as it was included with the ticket to Micropia. t was not a quick visit because the animals gave us 2 great shows: The otter show: squeezing and crying made us go to the otter pool. There we found the otters all crying out plaintively for their lunch. They were making quite the racket and were so cute! The zookeeper came around 3:00 pm and fed each one a fish and it was amusing as they ate! What a lovely show! Then jaguars (one melanistic-black) were cavorting around their enclosure, licking each other and chasing each other. It was a great show of feline affection. Unfortunately we did not a lot enough time for the zoo. The animals looked so well cared for and it is heartwarming to see a varied group of humans, all enjoying the antics of the animals.

ARTIS Zoo is a hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam! It’s beautifully laid out, with a great mix of animals, botanical gardens, and historical architecture. The enclosures are well-maintained, and the animals seem well cared for. I especially enjoyed spending quality family time here with my grandchildren — there was something magical for all ages. Highlights include the aquarium, planetarium, and butterfly pavilion. The peaceful atmosphere and lush greenery make it feel more like a park than a typical zoo. A perfect spot for a relaxing, educational day out. Definitely worth a visit
Adnan K — Google review
Very interesting place to visit with guide. Not only the animals but also the flowers, herbs and trees are worth seeing. We have a wonderful time in relaxing atmosphere in the walking paths and exciting moments in acrowdy palces along animals. I highly recommend
Glasgow E — Google review
A large zoo with a wide variety of animals and plenty to see and explore! The planetarium was a fun bonus and added something unique to the visit. There are vegan food options available, though a bit on the pricey side. Some enclosures could definitely be improved, especially for the crocodiles, who seemed to have very limited space. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable day. Great for visiting with friends or family.
Maria M — Google review
We really liked the zoo. We went with kids 5 and 1.5 years old, and it was a very good experience. It is expensive, yes. But if you plan on making a full day plan out of it, it's worth it. I'd say at least 3 hours, otherwise not worth the money. It has A LOT of animals, also a few small playgrounds, a cafeteria and a couple of small snack huts. Food is not bad but nor very good either, expensive as expected. You might want to bring snacks and sandwiches, and maybe just get a little something extra there, although if you don't, you can get everything there. Super stroller friendly, and they even have like small "carts" to take your kids, probably 1-5 years old. You just need to deposit a 2 euro coin and at the end they give it back.
Orly H — Google review
We really loved this zoo, quite easy to get to since it's close to the tram. Everything was well set out and there's so many animals! It was on our list of must visits when we came to Amsterdam in late February 2025. We also went into the planetarium before we left which was amazing too.

Hortus Botanicus, situated in the charming Amsterdam Oost district, is a historic botanical garden dating back to 1682. This picturesque destination boasts a diverse collection of exotic plants from around the globe, housed in classic greenhouses that evoke the bygone era of plant exploration. With over 6,000 indigenous and non-native trees and plants flourishing in its lush outdoor gardens and greenhouses, visitors can marvel at species imported by Dutch East India Company traders.
Absolutely adored our visit. Smaller garden than many big cities but gorgeous with so much packed in. You disappear and have no idea you’re in the city when in the center. Gorgeous structure to gardens with spectacular houses and education. Cafe is delicious as well. Get the apple pie.

Great little botanical gardens with amazing tropical greenhouses. It has a shop, a cafe and toilets. We spent about 2 hours here. It took a 15 minute stroll from Dam square to reach but you can also get a tram. Loved it !!

My favourite place to feel like I'm anywhere but where I actually am; Amsterdam, the big city. Great for photo's as shown in the first few pics. Even greater place to spot butterflies and feel the magic ✨️. You can totally relax here in about every corner of the place, wether you want to spot butterlfies, be with big plants, feel tropical climate, or eat some cake with tea on the side. There is also a great (gift) shop as you exit with books that always inspire me, and every now and then I buy one. Love you Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam ♥︎ (There's also one in Leiden! Worth the visit as well!)

Well maintained little garden. It's nice for a leisure stroll although the grounds are not that expansive. The price is high if you are just looking to see the gardens quickly.
Hayden J — Google review
A lovely botanical gardens, my favourite part: the butterfly enclosure. Unfortunately you couldn’t see in it any info about the caterpillar enclosure. Tickets are slightly more than I think it’s worth. We went on a rainy day so that affected our day a bit, as expected though. I’m sure it’s very lovely on a sunny day. It would benefit from some beaches outside with a rain cover of some sort, as rain is common here anyway.

Remarkably dense and interesting botanical garden right by the Maritime museum. We didn't know what to expect and were blown away with the depth and size of the collection in this pocket sized garden. Native, herbs, butterfly, South Africa, forest understory... so many little areas all well labeled and stuffed with great plants. If you like gardens, are a serious botanical fan, or just need a break from the crasser sections of Amsterdam this is the place. We had a great time with kids and wished we lived here and could ship the little garden store plants. There's also a nice cafe. Good bathrooms.

Brouwerij 't IJ is a renowned brewery located next to the iconic De Gooyer windmill in Amsterdam. Established in 1985, it was one of the pioneers in the Dutch microbrewing scene and has since become a beloved fixture in the city. The brewery offers a variety of organic blonde and dark beers, including an IPA, Belgian blonde, wheat beer, and stout. Visitors can enjoy their brews on a bustling terrace or inside the cozy taproom.
Amazing beer. I was here 17 years ago and they still had the Columbus. It 9% but has an amazing flavor. If you are in Amsterdam this is a must stop. On weekends they offer the brewery tour
Ian T — Google review
⸻ The beer here was excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes — from lighter, refreshing styles to richer, more complex brews. I also really enjoyed the snacks; they were delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. One of the things I appreciated most was the self-service setup, which makes the whole experience feel very casual and easy-going. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with friends without feeling rushed or overly formal, and that’s part of its charm. Prices are a little on the high side, especially compared to similar spots, but the quality of the drinks and the overall vibe still make it worthwhile. That being said, the place could benefit from a bit more attention to cleanliness — it’s not a major issue, but it’s noticeable. Still, if you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy good beer, tasty snacks, and an informal atmosphere, this is definitely a place worth checking out
M N — Google review
One of the best parts of our holiday. The beer is delicious - we had a tasting flight and genuinely there was not one option I wouldn’t order again. Would also recommend doing the weekend tour. Our guide was super knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn about the history of Amsterdam’s largest craft brewery.
Kalli D — Google review
Loved this place! The beers were incredibly fresh with strong, clean hop flavor. The windmill setting makes it even more special. Great spot for casual drinks with a unique Amsterdam vibe.
Priya — Google review
Great beers and brewery in a windmill. We had the tasting 17.5 € pp, and it was good to taste their different beers. It was a bit windy being outside but there were no tables inside. The food selection somewhat limited and the friendliness of the staff working at the food counter could be improved.
Enrique R — Google review
The service here needs improving. They’re always busy so it seems they can get away without treating customers well or adhering to food standards. The beer was ok but the food was terrible. Poorly put together and served by a guy who kept licking his fingers in between cutting up sausage, cheese and squeezing out mustard and other sauces from a bag - DISGRACEFUL! Being a typical Brit, I didn’t complain, but I couldn’t eat it after seeing that.
Phil T — Google review
We tried a flight at Brouwerij 't IJ—decent beers, but mostly their basic range. None of the more unique or special brews were included, which made it a bit underwhelming if you're hoping to taste the brewery’s full potential. At €17.50, it felt overpriced, especially with cold service and a tip prompt. Still, the windmill setting is charming and it’s a pleasant enough stop, though it leans touristy.
Renaud L — Google review
One of the best breweries I've been to! There were a lot of different beer choices and a ton of little snacks/bites to choose from which was unique. I highly recommend stopping by! This was worth the trip from the main area of Amsterdam.

Rarely i find some perfect restaurants from all aspects.. what i found here is warm hospitality and GREAT SOUL TOUCH FOOD. Honestly the dish i ordered i wouldn’t mind eating it for so long and everyday! Simple yet so complicated feelings with this lovely egg dish. The atmosphere here is another layer of calm and peace.. the restaurant is inside a small a secret garden that you have to visit under any conditions! I traveled a lot but simply this is EXTRAORDINARY experience.

Make a reservation, as it’s always very busy. The location is beautiful—calm and green, a peaceful spot in the city. The interior is very cozy, and when the weather is nice, it’s amazing to sit outside and enjoy the garden. Food: It seems like the prices have gone up while the portion sizes have decreased. The Chuck Norris sandwich costs €18, which feels quite high for what you get. I had the savoury kadaif—it's a nice and unique dish, but again, I think €16 is too much. The prices of the 'Sides' are also not in proportion. 5 euro for a smashed avocado! They usually offer a wide variety of desserts, but unfortunately, there weren’t many left. We ordered the apple pie, which tasted great, but the portion was very small. Overall, it was a nice experience. However, I’d suggest reviewing the portion sizes, and the service could definitely be a bit quicker.

The food was delicious, we ordered the savory Dutch and the brave basque and they were both very good. New options that we had not ordered before. June was a magnificent server and she gave us great advice when ordering and about Amsterdam in general. The place is super cozy and nice. I recommend making reservations as it gets quite busy in weekends. I have also had the kale hash poached eggs which I think have been my favorite so far. I will definitely be back to try more things. Thank you!

Had a reservation at 12, we only managed to order by 12:30 which seems a little strange considering that we only have 1,5 hours for our reservation. We ordered pancakes as dessert and i asked for extra set of cutlery. Had to wait a little to get those, so ended up grabbing them myself. I think this place def could use an extra pair of hands for FOH. Food was pretty nice. Interesting and new combinations of flavors.
Masha E — Google review
I really liked the atmosphere. Both indoor and outdoor areas are lovely. I do think the prices are way too high for the portion sizes. The flavours did not blow me away. The plating was nice but I felt that the quality of the food could be improved. I had the baguette with bresaola, which could have easily been elevated with a sourdough. I think it’s very basic compared to the price although the ambience was nice.
Kezia C — Google review
Lovely location for lunch, with calm garden views. We both had the “Benny Boy”: hash brown - poached eggs - topped with avocado (for me) and trout (for my boyfriend). This was such a delicious mouthful, felt happy and re-energized with good food after this meal. I would recommend to make reservations in advance as it can get pretty busy.

Really nice looking restaurant next to the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. The food was really excellent and well presented and decent portion sizes. Its a very nice place to go for special occasions. My only feedback is that they should be more attentive to when people need a drink. Loved it though!

Very nice place next to the zoo. Atmosphere is very nice. It’s a big place but almost full. We walked in with no reservation and it was fine. There is an outdoor area that overlooks a pond with flamingos. We had the lunch menu, we ordered the shakshouka and fatter, they were not traditional, food was very good, portion a bit small.

Great atmosphere in a special setting. The food was delicious and everything was well prepared! We came here for dinner on Saturday night, and unfortunately the only disappointment was that our service was on the slower side and lacking attention. Regardless, this was still a great experience - we look forward to coming back next time we're in town!

I wouldn’t say I ordered a lot of food, but as always, I had a cup of coffee with a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake was quite tasty, a bit on the sweet side. The coffee was average — nothing with a real “wow” effect. There are places where it’s better, but the atmosphere makes up for it. The restaurant’s vibe is really beautiful. While waiting for my coffee, I noticed there were quite a lot of people, yet the service was pretty fast. I did see, though, that my cheesecake took a bit longer to arrive compared to the order at the next table — even though they had way more food.

If you’re looking for a world-class gastronomic experience in Amsterdam, Bridges is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!
Jonathon B — Google review
During my recent stay at the Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, I had the chance to dine at Bridges twice, and both visits left a strong impression on me. The restaurant is small and intimate, tucked inside the hotel, and although I’m not entirely sure if it currently holds a Michelin star, it certainly feels like the kind of place that deserves one. The menu is built around creativity. Every dish feels like it has its own identity, its own character. We tried the seabass and the steak filet mignonettes, both cooked with precision and full of flavor. Even the small touches, like the house crackers, stand out more than you would expect. But the dish that truly surprised me was the potato dish. It’s rare for something as simple as potatoes to become the highlight of an entire evening, yet this one did exactly that. It comes in different textures in a single plate: a light potato foam, tiny fried micro potatoes, and a single crisp potato skin on top like a signature. The flavors layer on each other in a way that is both comforting and completely unexpected. It’s the kind of dish you remember and the one I would tell anyone visiting to try without hesitation. The wine selection is excellent, with thoughtful pairings that elevate the dishes even more. The staff add a lot to the experience. They’re professional yet warm, and the way they guide you through the menu shows how much they care about what they do. Bridges is definitely a place I will return to whenever I’m in Amsterdam. It is popular, so a reservation is necessary, but it’s absolutely worth planning ahead for.

What an experience this was! Apparently, I’ve walked past it many times without knowing the delicious dishes they serve. Each dish was carefully prepared with attention to detail, and you could really taste every ingredient. But the most surprising part was the price-quality ratio. If you don’t want to spend too much money but still enjoy great quality food and good service, visit Bridges in Amsterdam. They even surprised me with an arrangement of sweets for my birthday!

Until a few years ago this restaurant inside Amsterdam’s Sofitel Hotel used to hold a Michelin star. The cuisine remains international with local touches although now has gravitated more towards fish dishes. The space is modern elegant with an atmosphere that is predominantly suited for business. Elegant and not overly complicated presentations and very good kitchen execution. Service remains of very high quality.

My husband and I were delighted to score a reservation at the chef's table (in the kitchen) at Bridges on October 12 thanks to our concierge. We were hesitant at first because we seemed to be on a gastronomical tour of Amsterdam and didn't think we needed yet another fine dining experience on a birthday weekend trip (3 total). We are so glad we took the plunge. The entire experience was delightful. The food was fresh, delicious and creative. The wine pairings were spot on. The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. By the end of the night, we were having delicious desert and listening to jazz (from my husband's phone) on their B&O sound system while the staff worked on shutting the kitchen down for the night. We live in NYC. By comparison to what we pay for fine dining at home, this delightful meal was a bargain. Special thanks to Executive Chef Raoul Meuwese and Maitre Dan Halle for providing us with such a memorable experience! We could not have been more pleased.

Oh my goodness! Bridges set a high bar for service and experience! We wanted to have dinner in the restaurant… but being a last minute decision…they were booked but had the Chef’s Dinner open. We said yes and it was by far our best decision! Sitting in the kitchen with the hotel courtyard to our backs made the experience even better! Chef and or his staff explained every dish as served and the Sommelier talked about each wine with each course. It’s hard to pick a favorite dish as they were all over the top! But definitely a place we want to visit again. Date of visit September 2022

Super beautiful and incredibly tasty food! We took 4 course lunch, started with champagne, wine pairing for one of us. It was all seafood, and to our surprise good sized portions. Delicious bread (we ate like 4 bins), and homemade "kroepoek" with basil dip were great. The food itself as well amazing, all elements on a dish carefully cooked and placed visually impressive. Wine pairing was very very well done and great wines, not to mention the champagne at the beginning was fantastic! The staff is very friendly and helpful. One of them had a bit pretentious and pushy attitude. There is a fine line between being service oriented and insisting to try to up-sell. The only negative point on the food were the dark chocolate bonbons we got with the coffee, one had very bad taste and consistency of filling.

My friend and I will forever cherish this birthday dinner as a day brimming with love and joy, all thanks to Jacob. Your kindness and dedication to making her day extraordinary truly made a difference. This marked my second time visiting this restaurant, and I must acknowledge that the quality of the food remains just as exceptional as it was 18 years ago. Nevertheless, what truly stood out during this visit was the outstanding service offered by Jacob. His attentiveness, courtesy, and willingness to go the extra mile truly left me in awe. Jacob's expertise on the menu and his recommendations enhanced our dining experience. His warm and professional demeanor added an extra touch of charm to our visit. Without a doubt, I will be coming back to this restaurant not only for the delectable cuisine but also for the exceptional service provided by Jacob.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Children's museum
NEMO Science Museum is a massive boat-shaped museum located by the waterfront in Amsterdam. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the city from the large terrace on the roof, which stands 22 meters above sea level. Inside, there are interactive exhibits and shows designed to engage visitors in hands-on exploration of various scientific concepts such as electricity, metals, and the water cycle. The museum also features a scientific laboratory where guests can participate in experiments.
I had a great experience spending time here with my kid. Overall i would not even call it a museum but a science exhibition that allows your kids from baby to teenager to be engaged and enamoured by science. They have different levels that all provide different experiences ranging from practical experiments to chemical reactions, from history of electronics to space and human species. The biggest attraction was their large chain reaction experiment and we enjoyed it throughly.
Khagesh B — Google review
This museum is brilliant for kids, it is aimed more for kids than adults. There is loads of interacting to do. The husband and i did enjoy some of the interacting parts and had a few laughs. The rooftop cafe was nice, views were lovely. I wouldn't visit again.
Gail K — Google review
The science museum offered a truly fantastic experience. It was especially engaging for younger visitors, with plenty to explore. Many exhibits were captivating and held the interest of all ages. Interactive displays made learning fun and accessible for everyone. Overall, it was a remarkable place to spend the day.

Amazing experience at NEMO Science Museum! I visited NEMO today and was truly impressed. It’s not just a museum but a lively world of science designed for both kids and adults. Everything is interactive — you can touch, play, and experiment while learning about fascinating topics. The exhibits are diverse, from human and animal skeletons to brain science, emotions, and technology. My child especially loved the hands-on activities with screens and headphones — learning through play was so much fun! The museum is modern, clean, and well-organized. The staff are friendly, and the café on the top floor offers a fantastic view of Amsterdam. 👉 A must-visit place in the Netherlands, especially for families with curious kids!
Nguyen T — Google review
NEMO Science Museum is an amazing experience for families! It’s fun, interactive, and full of hands-on experiments that spark curiosity in kids and adults alike. The exhibits make learning science exciting and easy to understand. The rooftop offers stunning views of Amsterdam, making it both educational and entertaining for everyone.
Mahesh K — Google review
Our family really enjoyed the museum, especially our child, who is interested in how everything works and why. We booked tickets in advance, so it's hard to say whether there was a line. The museum is quite large, and we were really tired. There are places in the museum where you can sit and relax. I think these kinds of museums should only be visited with children, as adults might not find them interesting. Although my husband and I really enjoyed it.🥰
Елена К — Google review
Fun, informative, and very activity-based museum. Lots to do and look at, takes up at least 2 hours and spans across 5 floors. Child, teen, and adult friendly. Lovely rooftop view!
Sineá T — Google review
Loved this museum! I went with a 1.5 and a 5 year old. Of course for the 5 year old it was absolutely fabulous, but even for the 1.5 was good. If you go with tounger kids try to dedicate more time to the first 2 floors. 3rd and 4th floors are not great for little children. We brought lunch from home although there is a cafeteria on the top floor. Lockers and a place to park strollers at the entrance.

Maritime museum
Situated in the eastern part of Amsterdam, near the botanical gardens and other notable attractions, the National Maritime Museum (Het Scheepvaartmuseum) is a captivating destination for those intrigued by ships and Dutch maritime history. Housed in a former storehouse, this interactive museum offers virtual voyages and features a replica 18th-century merchant ship.
One of the best museums illustrating the the Dutch colonial past. Along with a replica of an actual boat, you could explore with an amazing video transposing you back in time, it had artifacts, paintings, tapestries etc all with excellent audio explanations to accompany you. Really great find! Not to be missed when in Amsterdam
May P — Google review
It is not just shipbuilding—this is the story of a small yet great and influential nation and the rise of engineering ingenuity. Get the audio guide—it ties the collection together. Many artifacts, paintings, and tools are truly unique. Stepping aboard an authentic historic ship was a lifelong dream, and here it came true. The restored royal barge is a masterpiece.
DNK — Google review
Situated in an impressive looking building this museum has a lot to offer. My favorite part by far was the remade ship at the back. You can walk through all of it and really get a fee for how it was to be in ships from the 17-18th century. Weirdly the rest of the museum felt a bit light on exhibits. Maybe because the building is so huge that I expected more. But it didn’t really give huge insights into Dutch maritime history. At least to me. But there was a lot of good stuff to see nonetheless and worth the visit especially for the ship moored out back.
Steinar J — Google review
Wow! Insightful, educational, reflective. The immersive videos are awesome. Historical maps and atifacts. A remarkably amazing interesting experience - put it on your list: visit the National Maritime Museum. Thank you for having us today. We would love to return soon.
Christopher F — Google review
Magical for anyone with a love of maritime history. 3 vessels - 2 original and 1 replica. Excellent collection of historic artefacts, models and artwork. Great exhibit on impact of Colonial expansion.
Danielle H — Google review
One of my favorite museums in Amsterdam is a moving experience about Holland's rich maritime history, rooted in nautical science, curiosity, and ambition. To my surprise, the exhibit honestly reflects the history of efforts in global trade over the past hundred years, as well as the oppressions of colonies, demonstrating the national integrity of the Netherlands!
莒光號莒光號 — Google review
Definitely museum worth visiting, and it's really interesting! Unfortunately we didn't leave enough time for it, thinking it's small and not as interesting as Rijksmuseum, but honestly, tickets here are cheaper, and unlike Reijksmuseum Maritime Museum provides discounts for students, and the east india company ship is really cool! Definitely worth of your time
Theo C — Google review
A truly fantastic museum. The magnificent highlight is the replica of a VOC merchant ship. All decks are accessible, providing a striking insight into what an 18th-century sailing ship would have looked like. There's also a small climbing course for children in the hold. Impressive cabins, cannons, and many everyday objects are on informative display. A very impressive museum with many child-friendly features!

Church
Heritage building
The Oude Kerk, also known as the Old Church, is a 13th-century building located in the heart of Amsterdam's Red Light District. Despite its location, it offers visitors enchanting narrow cobbled streets and medieval architecture. This historic church features the largest medieval wooden vault in Europe, impressive stained glass windows, and over 2,500 graves including that of Rembrandt's wife.
Consecrated in 1306, the church is the oldest building in Amsterdam. Originally a Catholic church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, it transitioned to Protestant worship in 1578 during the Iconoclasm. Built in Gothic style, it was a focal point during Amsterdam’s 17th-century Golden Age. Today, it functions both as a historic Protestant church and a venue for contemporary art exhibitions.
Seokjin H — Google review
It’s a beautiful and historic church that is the oldest in Amsterdam. There was no line to enter and I only saw a few other people while I was there. I was most impressed by the organ and ceiling decoration. There is also some nice artwork on the walls. You really get a sense of the history of the place by noticing all the important people buried beneath the ground you walk on. I definitely recommend seeing this important place in the history of Amsterdam.
Andrew — Google review
Very glad we went! Big, old, beautiful structure that has had a tumultuous religious history and which is now used for concerts due to its voluminous acoustics. You can see where some defaced catholic paintings have been reaurfaced and restored. And, most of the floor tiles are grave markers for those buried inside the church! What a fascinating place right in the heart of the Red Light District!
Brian B — Google review
This is the most rip off church I’ve ever visited. The church charged €13.5/pp entrance fee but it’s really disappointing what you see inside, it’s just not worth it. You’ll get to see other more beautiful and spectacular churches nearby regions (Antwerp, Ghent etc) at a much cheaper fee or even free entrance, for instance : 1. Sint-Lauren’s Church in Rotterdam:€4 2. Delft- Oude Kerk and Nieuwe Kerk:€9.5 for both churches, 3. Sint-Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent : € free 4. Saint-Nicholas in Ghent: €free 5. Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp: €12 , this is probably one of the most beautiful church I ever visited.
AB C — Google review
Such a special, one-of-a-kind experience. The city’s oldest surviving building (13th century) with a great self-guided audio tour and rotating art installations that keep it fresh and inspiring. My sister and I were spooked when we realized we were walking on gravestones, so we tried to hop around to not do so… and then realized the entire floor is gravestones. 😅 The space is stunning — breathing in there feels sacred and otherworldy. I didn’t get to do the tower tour which was a bummer, so check the dates available, but I’ll definitely be back. *Visited in July on Monday, no wait times — and don’t miss the cozy café right next door!
Rose H — Google review
The most ancient building in this incredible city. A severe, exquisite Protestant Church. Here lies beautiful Saskia, Rembrandt’s wife, model & Muse.
Giulia * — Google review
An old church where many were buried. You can see from the engraving on the tile floor. It is also renowned for the organ in the church. Several paintings on the ceiling can be seen as they are the testimony of itself was once a catholic church.

Thai restaurant
Located in Amsterdam's Chinatown, Thai Snackbar Bird is a snug and laid-back eatery that has been serving delectable Thai soups, spicy noodle dishes, and rice dishes for over two decades. The cozy establishment offers a variety of exotic curries, meat and vegetarian dishes infused with Thai basil flavors. The open kitchen allows diners to witness the skilled chefs working over sizzling woks as they prepare regional specialties like yam kai jang.
This is my favorite spot when it comes to Thai food in Amsterdam. Absolutely fantastic experience! It's usually very crowded so it's normal to eat close by strangers. Food quality is excellent and prices are very honest for quantity too. This is a place for locals, don't miss it if you are around!
Dre A — Google review
They were busy but you can tell they cater to the bigger parties. The food was great when grandma is in the kitchen but I reordered a chicken satay and the second time it tasted nothing like the first & that’s because grandma was taking a lunch break right next to my table. Make sure grandma is cooking for the most flavorful Thai food ever. Highly recommend dipping the spare ribs in the peanut sauce- next level flavor
Amanda M — Google review
This little gem is a winner when it comes to decent food. The food was pretty decent and the price was even better for somewhere in central Amsterdam. Just a short walk from the bulldog coffee shop is is on a busy walking route. We went when it was as 29c outside, there was 2 of us and they sat us next to another couple in what can be described as the worlds smallest restaurant It was a sweat box. Managing to then get a space on the bench outside and it so much better. Had the Tom Yum and it was pretty decent. Not the best I’ve had but very close Also we had the Massaman curry and it was really good. We shared on dish between 2 and it was just enough Would go back there. Staff were good. Only one nice guy the folk in the kitchen were having a bad day and were a bit rude.
Harj S — Google review
The Thai street food tastes just like eating in Thailand. The chef and service staff are Thai. I recommend the stir-fried beef with basil. The basil flavor is hot and spicy.I love it ❤️😊.I will definitely go back.
Chuleerat S — Google review
There are several waiters and they don't pay attention to the customers. I don't recommend it, it was just horrible, they could see that my friend was having lunch but at no time did they come to ask me and the other customers were served as they went along. In addition they are not accommodating in the food we asked for a dish without meat and the dish of my friend arrived with sickening pieces of meat . 🤮 Besides I never got my ordered dish.
Zénab T — Google review
I had dinner here and it was a mixed experience. I ordered the Tom Yam Koeng and the Kou Pad "BIRD" Luom Mid. The Kou Pad was excellent - a flavorful and well-executed dish that we really enjoyed. However, the Tom Yam Koeng was a bit of a letdown. It didn't taste like the traditional Tom Yam I had in Thailand, perhaps it's a Dutch adaptation of the dish. The restaurant itself is very small, and it was quite hot inside, which made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable. There were a few benches outside, which would be a better option on a nice day. Overall, if you're looking for a quick and tasty Thai meal, this is a decent option, but don't expect a completely authentic Thai taste, especially with their Tom Yam.

This elegant establishment boasts a serene atmosphere adorned with contemporary decor and modern artwork, creating a sophisticated backdrop for your meal. Here, Executive Chef Chris Naylor takes diners on a delightful journey through seasonal European flavors with his innovative multi-course menus crafted from fresh local ingredients.
We can absolutely recommend this restaurant! We had a fantastic evening with delicious food, prepared with a lot of love to detail and special creations - and the service couldn’t have been better! Also, the atmosphere was very nice and relaxing and we had a fantastic evening. Thanks a lot to the whole kitchen team who worked with so much effort and love and to the very kind service personal!

Ambient/“moody” lighting and atmosphere (liked). Tasting menu starts from 4 courses all the way up to 7, which we chose. The about of the food increased from subtle tones to richer as the courses arrived, which wasn’t our expectation for the beginning part of the meal. Expect meal to cost €300 prior to wine. Servers were incredibly attentive and conversational.
Daryl P — Google review
We had a great time at Vermeer and the staff was incredible. The whole concept is very unique as you choose how many courses you want to eat and there are very few tables (there were only 7 other people in the restaurant the whole night). We chose 7 courses; all the food was wonderful and I was extremely full by course 6. There was one course that my husband did not like and the staff made a different item just for him. Hicham was wonderful and made the whole experience special.
Aja W — Google review
Excellent fine dining restaurant easily reachable from Amsterdam Centraal. Came here for dinner and took the 6-course menu. The dishes were well-executed. Among the 6, the “squid & bacon” and the “royal” stood out the most for their impeccable flavour. Service was 5/5 - amuse bouche as well as palate cleanser and pre-dessert were included in the course.
Ines S — Google review
Food was exquisite and the service was fantastic. Fine dining but still friendly and welcoming environment. Very nice relaxed ambience. Had all courses with a rosé champagne for the first half and a red wine with the second half. Delicious.

It was my second visit to the restaurant after few years, and I totally understand how the new chef and his team got back their Michelin Star so fast. Outstanding courses and service; you can feel the attention to detail everywhere.
Carlos M — Google review
Exquisite food. Flawless service. Had the 5 course tasting menu. Flavours and creativity combined with cooking passion made this one of the best meals I've ever had. if only they wouldn't play tinny dance music....
Oliver B — Google review
We came back here the second time after the pandemic, and it is just as amazing as our first experience. We love this restaurant. It's one of this Michelin star restaurant that not only served innovative and delicious food, but also offered and unforgettable dining experience. The courses were served in a very coordinated fashion. All the dishes hit the table at the same time. Moreover, all the cutleries and dishes we picked up not only at the same time, but also in the same order. Our 6 courses dinner were served up by different members of the staff in that very precise manner. The staffs seems don't exist, when you don't need them, be but they all magically appear at the same time when they sense any need from the customers. They pay close attention to every little thing, making this a wonderful experience that you will not forget.

La Place

Restaurant
La Place offers a fantastic buffet-style meal at an affordable price, especially for dinner. It's recommended to visit before 7pm to enjoy a wide selection of fresh and tasty dishes. The restaurant is located on the 7th level of a library, providing a calm and exciting dining experience away from the tourist crowds. Additionally, there is a viewing deck overlooking the sea, although it is closed from November to March.
A good place to eat at resonable prices situated at level 7 of a library, with a nice view.

Fantastic gem. Eating on top of the world away from the tourist run. Fresh tasty calm.... and yet exciting. Viewing deck out over the sea is closed Nov to March.
Ben J — Google review
Really nice buffet-style meal at a reasonable price, less than €10 for dinner! Good idea to go before 7pm, as after that much of the food has been cleared out by the previous diners. Also the library is really nice!
Shona C — Google review
It's the restaurant on the last floor of the Public Library. It's not really on a rooftop, and there's not really so much of a good view except if you sit right by the window. Nonetheless, it has a nice buffet with a good variety of fresh food and drinks
Sergio G — Google review
Very convenient for parents with young kids visiting the library. There are plenty of high chairs and a toilet with a baby change near the cafe. I came with a pram and one of the staff helped me take my tray to my table so I could wheel the pram over and grab a high chair. Quite cost effective too - €5.50 for a fresh Woodfired pizza big enough to feed 1 adult and 1-2 children.

On top of the Library of Amsterdam (oba) it offers a nice view over the city. The food is always of good quality, but its not the cheapest. Plenty of room to sit and enjoy a meal. Free wifi included.

Just another restaurant which belongs to the La place restaurant chain. It is on the top level of the public library and offers a great view of the Amsterdam skyline. Although the rooftop is closed from November until March.
