Very good! Authentic! We really enjoyed our evening out. The home feel and happy staff. You can hear the happy chiefs in the kitchen making your food and it reflects . The pizza was delicious, and the dough was an absolute winner! The blue cheese summer salad was really tasty, limoncelo tiramissu 💖 so fresh. Jongkind is the man that used to own the property, when he died his will called it to be made into small homes for childless, older women with no form of support, to live and keep their dignity! Good karma you can feel it .

Fantastic place! The owners did a great job on the renovation preserving the old authentic environment. Ducked into this lovely cafe. Quick lite lunch of soup and sandwiches. Great tea service if you have a bit of time. They also roast their own coffee so picked up a bag to take home. Great service, healthy fare. Appreciate the kind attempts at English- didn’t actually receive what we ordered but that is really our fault for not speaking Dutch! What we received was delightful.

Nice place for lunch, everything on our plate was fresh and filling. We went for the sharing meal which was 2 plates exactly the same, with a bit of variety which was perfect for us, washed down with a nice Rose and a beer.

Cozy place but unfortunately I didn’t have a pleasant experience. On the menu there is a Mediterranean flatbread that had 3 ingredients: ajvar, grilled vegetables and feta. They brought me a crispy dough (not the flatbread that I know) with two ingredients only which is ajvar and feta. I asked the waitress to check with the kitchen as there was an ingredient missing which is the grilled vegetables. She came back and said that the ajvar paste is made out of grilled vegetables inside 😒 and that was it! I am not stupid I know what Ajvar is made of (I have it in my fridge). I was not happy and told them that what they were offering on the menu does not reflect what they are serving so they offered a drink on the house.. Quite annoying to be mislead in this way, I am disappointed.

We regularly visit Casa Chow on Markt. It has a great terrace with comfortable seating. The menu is great and the service friendly. We often visit for the Ontbijtje breakfast (a €5 and a €7,50 option, both with coffee and juice!) I recommend to all visitors in Gouda.

The food was pretty good however the service was disappointing. During rush hour there were only 2 waitresses making the waiting time long, tables weren’t cleaned and no checkups. Definitely understaffed.

Great location in Gouda with tasty food. I’m not giving 5 starts because they didn’t want to bring tap water at the end of the dinner (the bill was 120 euros so I think is not hard to give some water). Besides this detail, everything fine!

The vibe of the restaurant is really nice, and the concept is cool offering dishes ranging from Mexican to Thai and Japanese. Portions are on the smaller side, but we were warned about that before ordering. One strange issue: after ordering the red Thai curry, we were served only the sauce, with nothing in it. Even more importantly, we had to order extra rice separately and wait for it, which meant our curry was getting cold by the time we could eat it. On the positive side, the Indonesian rendang was flavorful and well-prepared. However, the churros were far too sweet for our taste. Service-wise, while the staff were friendly, they should be more attentive. The restaurant was practically empty, yet we had to wait quite a while for someone to notice us because the servers were busy chatting among themselves.

Nice restaurant on the central square of Gouda. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. Very comfortable seating and ambiance! The view of the square is very nice and on days like Saturday with the market very lively. The food was very good and the selection was ample. The only disappointing thing was the price. For a two person lunch it is above average for what we pay normally. I do recommend this restaurant though as the friendly staff makes up for the price.

Came here for lunch and I was very happy. Not crowded, nice place, friendly and prompt service. I had the grilled Gouda cheese and ham sandwich with the Lobster and seafood bisque. The food was really good, the bisque had a lot of flavor and was creamy and the sandwich was crunchy and cheesy. Also had a nice glass of rosé to go with the meal.

The food definitely tasted as delicious as they looked. The steak sandwich was perfectly done medium rare. Tender and flavourful. Chicken sate was excellent as well. Worth checking out when you’re in Gouda!

We celebrated a bachelor party at this incredible restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! We mentioned it was a bachelor party when booking, and they went above and beyond with the decorations, totally exceeding our expectations! The staff was phenomenal, treating our group like VIPs from start to finish. The food? Absolutely amazing, every dish was a hit, and the drinks were spot on. Attention to detail was a perfect 10. The location itself is super unique, with a cool vibe that added to the fun. If you’re planning a special event, I can’t recommend this place enough!

A little away from the center, but within walking distance - right next to the Best Western Hotel is the Lichtfabriek restaurant in an industrial building of a former power station. Cool location and great atmosphere! The food was delicious, the staff friendly and accommodating. We felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend the Lichtfabriek.

We landed on this by accident but really liked it. After exploring Gouda for several hours, we were ready for an adult beverage and some snacks. We were seated right away. Service was excellent. Today we celebrate valentine day. Food was absolutely perfect. Ober was very friendly. I not speaks dutch and he gave me english menu. Coctails and dessert also very nice. This restaurant deserves on 5 stars

I came here for the fondu. No fondu on the menu, very disappointed. The cheese board was OK but basic. The server was overwhelmed as he was the only one working the dining room but he did the best he could. The building itself was the best part; great view and industrial but not cold

Lovely ambience. Lovely welcome. We sat up on the little balcony and it felt quite private. Very good mannered young personnel. Food was delicious and very important VERY good value. It's so nice to get such beautifully prepared food for a more than affordable price these days. Warm bread is delicious too. Loved it!!!

Good quality restaurant in the centre of Gouda. The outside terrace is a gem - perfect for sitting outside in a good weather on the old fish market. They were flexible to take us in on a busy Saturday evening w/o a reservation. Food was nice, especially the fish and the soup. The rest was just good. Service was a bit on a slower end, and they could have offered us blankets for sitting outside. In general, would recommend either just for a quick drink at the atmospheric terrace or for a decent dinner.

We had a wonderful Dinner...soup was wonderful...the bread memorable, it deserves a congratulations. We both had fish with vegetables and potatoes. If the potatoes had been fresh boiled it would have been perfect. The re-heated potato wedges were the only spoiler. Can be easily fixed for future guests.

I ordered as a starter the Beenham with asparagus and as main the Dorade filet, both arrived cold which was a shame. The Beenham also arrived with just 1 piece of asparagus cut in half which I felt was misleading. Overall I didn't think the food was anything special for the price you pay but the outside seating is gorgeous.

The staff were very nice to us but the food wasn't that great. I ordered the homemade burger but the steak had a funny taste. Maybe it's just me and not used to it, I don't know. I was with two other friends and the staff welcomed us warmly ! When I asked for water, they didn't mention it was above 7 euros! For water ! The prices are quite high aswell.

We visited the Café for lunch and sat on terrace. It has a great view of city hall and the super tasty food only helps you enjoy it! Servers were very friendly and had no problem switching to English, which always feels welcoming.

This superb restaurant far exceeded our expectations! We had decided to try out a different restaurant in Gouda and ended up having such a fantastic gastronomic experience. I strongly recommend the weekly three course special for a mere 35 euros. We settled for the Bij ons starter which is really a taster of all the starters on the menu. I had the beef dish for the mains and it was delicious! The cheese platter ended off the experience beautifully. The wine list may be small but a very nice selection. The restaurant is on two floors and has a lovely atmosphere with the tables generously spaced apart. The waiters are passionate about their jobs and it shows in the way they talk about the dishes. We are definitely coming back!

What an amazing find. Lovely tiny street with outside seating, amazing dishes, and enthusiastic staff. From the starter amuse dish, the appetizer sampler, the deliciously cooked steak, the desserts, and the grappa - it was all perfect. Presentation is top notch as well. I can recommend the "Irish Jewish Fillet (beef) with red wine/sambal sauce" and the "Thai Rice" dessert. Service was great, and you could feel the love and knowledge that the team had. Will come again!

Waiters were all friendly, food was great and well presented, especially the starters (we got the mix to taste them all) were really good!

I wanted to find a restaurant off of the main square in Gouda and stumbled upon Bij Ons. Came in right at 5, maybe a little too early for the staff. Regardless, enjoyed the menu here and the food was absolutely beautifully presented. Standout items included the salmon tartare, the vegetarian plate of the day and the apple dessert. Truly such a unique find in Gouda.

Very nice “brown café” in the city center of Gouda. Food is priced very good with a 3 course menu starting at €28,50 excluding drinks. The interior is very nice with old film and event posters covering all of the walls. Food quality is good, not really creative, but that is not why you should visit this place. This place should be visited because of the nice location and good price/quality.

A cozy bar in Gouda for a fun Friday night out. The drinks are fresh and tasty, the cool down you need on a summer evening. I liked the cocktail I ordered, but what really impressed me was the sangria: it was a special one, with a couple alcohols mixed, including liquor 43. Turns out that they all go well, together with the seasonal fruits. Furthermore, the live music conveys positive vibrations and feelings of comfort and pleasure. Therefore, the atmosphere is joyful and lively. That is also written out on the faces of the welcoming staff; they were kind and helpful. Moreover, the bar turns into disco after 22:30-23 o’clock and there is plenty of space where you can freely dance! In conclusion, a wonderful place by many factors!

Chose to have dinner at Swing after a nice touristical walk in Gouda, because of all the restaurants located at the central square, Swing had the most colourful and cosy atmosphere, like being at a restaurant at the beach. The service was professional, energetic and quick, validating the choice that we made. Being a group consisting of both vegan people and meat-lovers, the dinner menu was also appealing to all of us. For every course there was a vegetarian/vegan option and I was curious to try the vegan bavette main. This 3D-printed steak, which was richly garnished with a pesto from peas, rendang with yellow beetroot and twister fries was very interesting, having the same structure as a beef steak. My meat-loving parents enjoyed it too! Personally I prefer something less processed, but given the fact that we're in Gouda, I was already happy to see more vegan options on the menu. My mom tried the avocado burger (with a glutenfree bun), which was good but a little dry. All of the portions were more than enough and joyfully presented. They served even iced coffee with plantbased milk and a vegan stroopwafel. The coconut ice cream with a mousse from mango and passion fruit was a delight! If you want a casual, but joyful dinner with lovely background music and a nice view on the historical central square then I definitely recommend Swing! Also perfect if you are with a group of people with a difference diet. Theres something for everyone.

It was nice place but since few weeks when we come with friends weekend evening we can not enter the bar as " membership " is required. After security guard explained only Dutch people can enter the bar ! Never again spend money in this racist place.

Really bad experience...the Food was of terrible quality and the stuff was not good at all. We expressed our complaints but they did not even care to apologise. The place noisy and not that clean.

All-you-can-eat tapas type of place. Almost no vegan options except fries 🍟 & potatoes. They have a whole vegetarian menu paragraph, which is mostly consistent of potatoes & almost all with cheese, so not for vegans & boring. For example they have few tapas with avocado, but none even vegetarian.

The overall experience was fine. Not amazing but for the price of €25/person, what can you expect... Atmosphere of the place is not great, it feels cramped. Service was okay, they brought everything fairly on time, not with a lot of enthousiasm though. Overall 3/5.

We went here after a city trip in Gouda. It was a nice place and not too crowded, the tables are quite close together but on this evening they weren't all full luckily. The room turns loud really fast when there are many people sitting there so it's good but I don't think it's great on a busy Saturday for example. The food was all nice and good proportions so we could try a lot! Toilets were clean but it's not wheelchair accessible.

Tapas restaurant in Cuban style (theme menu is totally not Cuban). All you can eat concept. Food is good and with lots to choose from so there is always something for you. They serve cocktails but their choices of beer is lacking inspiration (the one special beer they offer isn't that great). The place is noisy but that is one of the charms. All in all good food for reasonable price in a nice decor

I ordered Pad Thai - propably one of the best I've eaten! Unfortunately there was a wrong menu on the table with other prices, so I was misled. Apart from that, everything's fine!

Visited on a Friday night with no booking. They were so accommodating and found us a table. The food was excellent and staff very helpful.

As for me massively overrated place, looks like a regular diner with the “adult” prices, small portions, very moderate food quality as for the Thai vibrant cuisine and pretty slow service. The only benefit of this place is the people who work there, they really try their best, very friendly, polite and welcoming. There are definitely things to improve I would say.

Extremely long wait for the food. More than one hour. Then they asked if we wanted more to drink. Our answer was that we assumed it was a compensation for the long wait. Apparently not. When we got the bill it was full price. I said that the second rounds of drinks was supposed to be free of charge. This statement apparently did not go down well. I have seldom been meet with such a badly behaviour from somebody. Lovely food when it finally arrived. But really bad customer service...

An absolute Hidden Gem! The meal was the best Italian meal we’ve had outside Italy. Outstanding flavours, authentic bread on the Salame al Tartufo and carbonara pasta was so balanced. Everything from the cheese, sauce, the ham, the presentation of it all was perfect. We’ll come again & again.

Avoid at all costs. When we arrived another couple was waiting for an order to be taken, after 20 minutes they left. Same for the couple behind us. The staff was in no hurry and took their time to chat up their regulars (all older) but seemed lost to take new orders from walkins. After 25 minutes they couple who just arrived (again older folks) got served almost immediately while we were still sitting there waiting to even be asked... Great place if you need a 30-45 minute sitdown in a nice location without being bothered in decent chairs.

The only good thing about this place is the location and the service, the guys were very friendly. About the food, the Stake Tartare wasn't good, It was not well seasoned and I think the meat was about to expire, it did not have a good flavor. I also asked for Stake sandwich, it was very disappointed. It's an expensive place compare to the quality of food you get.

The food was amazingly good and there is a good selection of wine available. We asked for a bottle of Rose but had not yet seen the wine menu as it wasn't presented along with the menu. To our dismay, we had been given the most expensive bottle of Rose. We did alas enjoy the good weather and view of the famous City Hall.

This wasn't my first choice, but since places hate being open on Monday, I went for it, and instantly regretted it. Walked in around 3pm, not that busy considering the ample staff, waited about 5 minutes in the doorway like an idiot before I was even acknowledged to get a seat. Waited another 20 mins or so with no service until they came and tried to get me to pay someone else's bill, when I told them I didn't even order yet. Good start. Ordered a beer, and he rushed off without taking my food order even though I clearly had the food menu open. Waited oh, about 15 more minutes to get the beer. He sprinted away without asking if I wanted anything else. At that point it became abundantly clear. I had to get out of there. I chugged the beer as quickly as I could and miraculously found a staff member to pay for it. His hands were shaking as he held the credit card device. I'd probably still be there now if I didn't escape when I did. Ended up going to the coffee shop down the street for a club sandwich and it was like I died and went to heaven. Twice as many customers with half the staff, and they had no pressure whatsoever. De Zalm is not the way to run a business. If your staff cannot handle a simple easy crowd, you need to train them to do so.

Great new spot for a night out! The bowling lanes and karaoke rooms are an excellent addition to Gouda’s center. We enjoyed a few rounds of pool with the bucket of beers (a fun tasting experience) plus some great cocktails and food. There are two pool tables upstairs that are quite new and a joy to play on. Add to that lots of great drink options, and surprisingly good borrel food—we tried a pizza and gyozas, and you’ve got a great night out.

Great brasserie , Beautiful outdoor terrace on both sides of the canal. Open on Monday an Tuesday when many others are closed. Lovely professional servile We had the tuna tataki it was fabulous, the sate Indonesian chicken was fun and delicious. Sea bass was good! As for the wines, Verdejo was better choose than the house Chardonnay

One of the best meals I've eaten in Gouda. The tuna was wonderful. Friendly and efficient service, great atmosphere. I highly recommend as an alternative to the more obvious restaurants on the main square.

One of the best places in Gouda to have a few beers and then stay for dinner. The establishment itself is beautiful and so are the surroundings.

A proper traditional local Dutch old bar, that do nice bears and some nice food. We only came for a beer and some bitterballen and we enjoyed great hospitality and nice drinks and food. Will be back.

We were on a “tasty walk” the other day in beautifull Gouda. It was cold and windy and me and my walking partner were hungry and in need of warmth in our belly. We take away’d the speciality of Kamphuisen restaurant: the portuguese prepared mussels. For more than 20 years on their menu, I understood that this food was crafted to perfection. A very tasy, comfy and filling dish. The sauce was rich yet not too salty despite the chorizo addition. Really balanced flavors. Can really recommend visiting this gem ;)

This delightful intimate tavern will have you charmed in no time. Obviously, the place started as a tavern with the restaurant taking over the area. The interior is quirky, and there are a lot of the original features still standing, not to mention the gorgeous wrought iron staircase that leads to the toilets below. This gigantic buffet dining experience was a mouthwatering delight on the eyes and taste buds. Think the most difficult part is simply where to start! What is really nice is that they include three alcohol tokens as well which makes it a very reasonable evening. I advise you to walk around the entire food court first and then get your first plate. The variety is mind-blowing and it was nice to see dishes like fresh oysters, prawns and fresh raw salmon pieces. There is something for everyone. Sushi is plentiful and quite a variety. The grill and wok areas are both generous with nice sized portions of meat and fish and chicken. The decor of the restaurant is smart and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We will be back here soon.

A fantastic place with a huge choice of beers. Historic building and quirky decor - never seen so many ducks ! Super friendly owner too - very down to earth for an international tv star 😀 - and a nice pub dog as a bonus. An absolute must visit if you like beer that's not the usual lager etc. As a lover of micropubs at home in the UK, this was like a home from home. Been in the general area for 8 days and this was easily the best place I've been to.

Beautiful place with great vibes. However, waiting times is way too long even when the place is half empty. Food is either very good or very bad, nothing in between. Bad example is Prosciutto paradise: crunchy dry focaccia, sour feta, spicy-sour tomatoes. Very hard to bite and chew, way too sour and dry, no idea what was the point of it. Coffee just burnt ☠️

The MUSHROOM BURGER (with truffle mayo, pine nuts, and a touch of magic) was rich, earthy, and absolutely nailed it. The PASTRAMI was decent — tasty enough, just "not the bagel you’re looking for". Flat whites were excellent. Smooth, confident and flavorsome. Staff were warm, sharp, and quietly brilliant — the whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger.
