A truly peaceful and picturesque place. The castle itself is modest, but the surrounding gardens are stunning — beautifully designed with thoughtful planting and a perfect harmony of colors and textures. Walking here feels like stepping into a living painting, a real moment of serenity. Huge compliments to whoever created and maintains this landscape!

We visited in November. Turaida castle is really worth visiting. When you arrive to a parking lot, there are plenty of spots to park. You can pay for it in the museum which is like a minute away and you don't have to go back to put it in your car, just take it with yourself, it costs 2€. The ticket for the castle was just 6€ which is honestly not much, we saw many castles in different countries which where not that worth as this one and were more expensive. Except of the castle you can visit many other places and building here, like the church, the souvenir shop or the jewelry shop which offers plenty of beautiful hand made jewelries. Turaida castle itself is right now in reconstruction but was really beautiful. You can go inside every door which you can find, meaning that you can see plenty of expositions with stuff found during excavations, see some photographies, old armors, go up in the tower to see the whole castle and it's surroundings. The whole place is quite wast so you can spend there hours walking around, enjoying the atmosphere.

Beautiful castle with stunning views from the tower. Plenty areas to explore, many old building with a person in each building to explain more details, great information too. There are parks and pathways to explore. Easy access to toilets. And we were luck as there was live music concert on the stage next to castle.

Our group of 11 travelers from 5 countries journeyed to the castle complex Today. The guided tour from the entrance through the church as the guide told the story of Rosa de Turaida fave full delta to the castle. The small museum shows the reconstruction of the castle that allows visitors to climb 139 steps to the top for a va race point of the complex and the greenery

Nice castle to visit plenty of info and amazing view. The exhibition carries on in all the other buildings around the park (church, little houses…) - make sure to save enough time to visit the whole park and all these different exhibitions, it’s a lot to take in but it’s worth it.

In case you're planning to visit Turaidas Castle for the first time DO NOT follow your google maps. Instead take the parking spot on the 'mountain' (if you're driving a car) and cross the street to get tickets in the Museum entrance. You can pay by parking at the Museum register (same place where you can get tickets). Also the cost for tickets change twice a year — once in Autumn and once in a Spring.

Large, old and sad. Gutman Cave is the largest cave in the Baltic States, not quite in depth (18.8 metres), but in entrance (12 metres wide and 10 metres high). The cave was formed at the end of the last ice age, when meltwater eroded its way through the sandstone some 10,000 years ago. Gutman Cave is one of Latvia's oldest tourist attractions, with inscriptions dating back to the 17th century. It is still a popular tourist destination, so it can get busy at times. It is also the location of the sad end of the Rose of Turaida. For hikers, the cave (and the entire area) is a great destination or stopover.

We visited Gutman’s Cave in the evening, and it turned out to be a great decision. There were no other tourists around, which made the experience feel calm and almost magical. We had read that the place can get very crowded during the day, so going later allowed us to enjoy it at our own pace without the usual hustle. The cave itself is interesting to see — not particularly large, but it's steeped in history and legend, which adds a special charm. The walls are covered in old inscriptions and carvings, some of which date back centuries. It’s worth spending a little time reading about the stories and myths associated with the cave before you visit. The area around the cave is part of a beautiful park with many well-marked walking trails. It's a great place for a peaceful walk in nature, and there's plenty to explore. The surrounding forest and riverside paths make it ideal for a longer hike or just a relaxed stroll. Parking near the cave (200 meter) costs €2.50, but when we went, the office was closed and the barriers were open, so we didn't have to pay. This might not always be the case. All in all, Gutman’s Cave is definitely worth a visit, especially in the evening if you want to avoid the crowds.

Took the cable car and walked down. Wish we'd taken full day to walk and discover all the wood area before reaching the cave. It was a really sad story about the cave but what a magnificent place

It who was an interesting place, it's only a small cave with a lot of inscriptions, Dennis was a walk around the park it was not worth the one hour drive.

We hiked to the largest cave in Latvia to enjoy the natural formation. Sadly, several people have chosen to carve their initials or names in the stone to detract from the natural beauty. These engravings become part of the cave’s history now Worth the stop on a hike.

Cool cave and very accessible from road without any ascent or climbing. I walked here from train station, takes about 20-25 minutes with the highest staircase I've ever seen. Not far from the castle.

Generally a nice place to visit, expensive but our kids had a great time there, all inclusive wrist band will be ideal as we spend quiet a lot of money for individual tickets. My son went on the toboggan 4 times so spend 24euros just for that.

There were pretty decent lines and if the person in front is not keeping pace you will have to wait on a platform for them to finish the obstacles.

Really great place and great for all ages. Great adventure tracks, you can find many things to do that you can't immediately find elsewhere. You should consider buying a day ticket if you want to visit several devices. We will definitely come again.

This is very expensive for what it is. Staff aren't welcoming and there's no history or information about the views or anything at all. Got snapped at for asking when the cable car returns because I think the attendant had been explaining to other guests (not me). Bit of a rip off on the whole.

I went bungee jumping here and it was a blast. Both the most terrifying and fun experience I've ever had. The instructors were amazing. They answered all questions, gave good tips, and were good at making you feel safe.

Was very busy with adventurous people doing the flying wing thing. Had as much fun watching that as my own trip on the cable car. Try the salted caramel ice cream 🍦 while your there. It's awesome 👌

I was here with my American boyfriend. He never did a jump like this before but wanted to give it a try. The staff were very helpful and kind to us. Also, it was very fast and operated well.

A great medieval castle. We bought a family ticket for only 5€ and it was definitely worth it! The castle is a nice showcase of medieval gothic architecture. You can access two towers and one of the walls, from which there is a nice view of the town and surrounding nature. Around the castles you can find information checkpoints, which offer insight into the castles history from its founding by the Livonian Brothers of the Sword in 1207 to the most recent renovation. There is a lot of places where you can just sit and soak up the atmosphere. Staff is friendly.

This place is a must visit when in Latvia/ Riga! Easy to visit with a 1hr train ride. The walk from the train station is beautiful and much scenery to see along the way. The castles themselves are legit. Kid and family friendly. Feels as if you traveled back in time 🙏🏽

We had a day trip and were presently surprised at how near the castles were to the train station, 10 minutes walk. You get value for money here as there are 2 castles on the same site ,the old and the new. They have some lovely independent shops on site selling local ,and handmade products, do try the Hot Raw Cacao .

North of Sigulda, on a small rocky plateau that rises some 70 metres above the Gauja River valley, stands the impressive ruins of the Livonian Order Castle. The castle was built in 1207 by the Livonian Brothers of the Sword, the knightly order that was founded to bring about the conversion of the Latvians, Livonians and Estonians (by means of a crusade). These Brothers of the Sword were not the most obedient knights, as they regularly clashed with Bishop Albert of Riga (whose castle -Turaida Castle- can be seen on the other side of the Gauja River). The order was dissolved by the Pope in 1237, after only 35 years, and was incorporated into the Teutonic Order in the form of a separate branch, the Livonian Order. Since 1432 Sigulda Castle was the residence of the Land Marshal of the Livonian Order, the second highest officer of the order. In the 16th, 17th and early 18th centuries, war and destruction alternate with peace and reconstruction, until the castle is finally no longer restored and from the early 19th century it is cherished as a romantic ruin (albeit with some reinforcements and adjustments). The 20th and 21st centuries are mainly characterized by historical and archaeological research, and renovations to protect the ruin from decay. The Sigulda Medieval Castle is therefore an interesting and beautiful ruin that you should definitely visit!

Worthy a stop if you are in the neighborhood, otherwise not worthy the trip. The new castle is a modern residence, the old one partially scenic ruins used (as it was the case today) for event and cocnerts

The atmosphere is amazing, especially in warm weather when the terrace is open, it’s such a cute spot with great vibes. The food is always delicious. My personal favorite is the Caesar salad, and my mom absolutely loves their potato pancakes. It’s also a dog-friendly place, which makes it even better if you’re traveling with a pet!

Great cafe in Sigulda. It is located conveniently right in front of the station so you can have your foods while you wait for the transport. The menu has good amount of variety. The food is delicious and the service was decent as well.

Overall great atmosphere and service. We ordered wok with beef and the wait wasnt very long, taking into account that it was rush hour. The pictured latte was amazing, but the “salty caramel” cake wasnt salty nor sweet. The wok was very sweet though, not exactly my taste, but it was good either way.

Good place right in the town centre where to stop for tasty breakfast or lunch. Freshly backed pastries, wide choice of filled pancakes, hot and cold drinks. We had soup - delicious. Bacon bites just out of oven. Prices are friendly too, breakfast for two cost us 15 EUR.

We happened across this place by mistake and I’m so glad we did! We walked in there, as non-Latvian English speaking foreigners, knowing nothing but wanting to try everything. They were SO nice! They patiently explained all of the food to us. There was even a customer who took the time out of her busy day to translate some of what the store owners were saying since her English was perfect! I recommend the chocolate and cream cake. The honey pastry was also really good and traditionally Latvian. My friends tried the grey peas and some jellied meat and they liked it. Also the music in this store was 10/10. It was a whole vibe on its own in that snowy, wintery, dark afternoon. It’s definitely a beacon of light in Sigulda and super close to the bus stop.

We made a short stop for coffee and cake at this local place. Very tasty treats for a reasonable price (e.g. €2 for pancakes with chocolate sauce is very fair). The staff could understand us in English. Would recommend!

The cafe workers were helpful and friendly even though we didn't speak Latvian. The cafe is cozy and decorated well including fresh flowers. They have a wide variety of baked goods in addition to some other hot meal and coffee options. It was our favorite cafe in Sigulda so we ended up coming back the following day!

We went there to eat something after Sigulda Plant Parade. We ordered 2 burgers, 1 set of fries and 2 Cokes. There are seats inside and outside, we sat outside, they grill the meat on fire. Wind blew the grill smoke straight to the tables, so at some moments it felt like a bad decision to sit outside, but as the wind slowed it was okay again. We didnt ask to share the fries between us, but they did it, and it was so sweet! Wouldnt have thought to ask for it. Overall the food was very tasty, the fries were done very well and had enough seasoning and salt on them, the burger patty also tasted very good.

This is a small family business near the Sigulda tourist information center. The owner serves and his wife grills on an outdoor grill. The chicken shashlik and grilled veggies were heavenly. Service was quick and smooth. The atmosphere feels welcoming, honest, and manly (sic!). A thoroughly positive experience. Note: the parking space in front is tiny, but there's a big parking lot 50 meters away in front of the tourist information center.

This was a last minute decision though one that brought a wonderful experience! Totally recommend! Prices suit the food and drinks. A very cozy place, feels like home. Staff is very positive, helpful and friendly! I suggest asking the waiter to make a gin cocktail - those were AMAZING! If you're in Sigulda - don't hesitate to visit this little heaven! Props to Doma! P.S. Meat eaters - opportunity to pleasure yourself with vegetarian food that will leave you not only with a full belly, but also with satisfaction from the tastes and the fact that you've done something good for your body. ;)

This beautiful park is a popular spot for families and young people. It features playgrounds for different age groups, a basketball court, a skatepark, walking paths, and green spaces for relaxation. It's located right in the center of Sigulda, making it easily accessible by foot or public transportation

Beautifully designed space for Siguldas bus station and train station

On weekends you can go in a soft bobsled or soft skeleton ride down the track. Soft bobsled ride you go about 80km/hr. Both soft skeleton and soft bobsled are 30 euros per ride. It’s a quick ride but very fun!

The Sigulda Bobsleigh and Luge Track is located in Sigulda, Latvia. It was built in 1986 and used as a training ground for Bobsleigh, Luge athletes. It's 1200 meters in length with 16 curves. From the top one can have panoramic view of the mountains. Visited it as a guided tour and walked down the track. Very interesting place to visit.

€30 for a ride but wow the adrenaline is amazing, to do the actual Olympic track on a soft bob and soft skeleton was SUPERB and so worth it, obviously it was over pretty quick but that is totally to be expected.

I got to have a go on the summer bob and it was so much fun! Bumpy ride for sure but exhilarating! Very helpful staff which I really appreciated. Great views from the top too. I saw someone else mention that it would be great to have a small exhibition about the track/sports. I totally agree - I would have loved to learn something about it while I was there!

Not really a huge amount to see but definitely interesting to see

The ride itself is quite expensive and shortnand the kids said that not worth the money. But we go to to see some great sights as we were allowed to walk up to the tower along a bobsleigh track that wasn't used during the summer. The track was really impressive from the inside and views impressive bothered from the track and the tower. Just a little suggestion - try to put together a small exhibition. Even one or two rooms would cover it to give some general info about the place and the sport itself. Anything is better than just offering the ride and views only.

Spectacular position of the bobsleigh run, and interesting to do a short walk around it, on a 'tour bus' visit. I have only given 2 stars because to do an actual ride on the bobsleigh (which runs on 'wheels' in the summer) is very expensive, at 30 euros per person for a 60-90 seconds ride... I asked if we would get 3 or even 2 rides for that money, and was told no. So I don't think it's worth making a special trip out from Riga to do a ride.

This is a nice restaurant with a good ambience and food. There is plenty of seating and the decor is very cute. The bread and green butter was very good; the black bread was okay but the white bread was so addicting. I ordered the duck fillet and it was delicious; I'm always nervous the duck is try, but it was very juicy, and the flavor and the sides were very good. The steak was good, not amazing but not bad. The trout was the same, fresh but nothing amazing; the salad it came with was good. I think the duck was probably my favorite delicious. I also wanted to try the spicy fish soup, but they ran out. Everything was plated very nicely as well.

It was a pleasure to have a dinner in this restaurant. Staff very nice and kind, and the dinner was delicious. The price matchs the quality and quantity. This restaurant worths the visit. What a pitty there is no restaurant like this in Spain or Czech republic, because we would return for sure.

Really nice place in the middle of the town.The food is fairly priced.. Had the honey glazed trout and for dessert ordered off the kids menu.. PS: the side potatoes are very little, so if you are a party of 2 like we were consider ordering two plates.

Beautiful scenery and lovely for nature walks but not much else going on here. We went to Milys cafe on the estate for coffee and soup before taking the cable car back to sigulda.

Not much to see or do here, it's a nice little walk to see the area once you have hopped off the cable car bit not much else to see or do. It's a bit tricky to understand when you are sight seeing or if you are just walking past people's homes

Superb situation on the highest point above the Gauja Valley. You will find a café, a grocery store, an accomodation and it's rhe syarting point of numerous hikes around the natiral park.

This place is amazing, nature all around with breathtaking views and trails in the forest. Feels like traveling in Time, the atmosphere of the Palace is otherwordly. Staff welcoming and rooms very clean. For the prices this is a steal - would 100% recommend for anyone who wants to experience something different and historical.

Historical Manor, nice gardens and historical out buildings, now a medicinal centre. Situated on the banks of the Gauja, on OPP side of old town and accessible by Cable car. No entry fee.

Hiked through here during a tour of Sigulda. Impressive buildings in a lovely garden setting. Cafe nearby with pretty drawings on the walls. Also some small shops with a delicious ice-cream one.

Nice castle from the outside, there are ruins of a previous castle behind it. There are also some newer buildings in Nordic style. Inside, there's a rather small exposition about the history and some rules here. Best of all is to walk up to the tower and have a look at the buildings and the surroundings. Great impressions!

Overall not a place where you would ever go back to dine!! Service was so so, however staff didn’t come across friendly. Moreover, there is no pricing available for any of the soft drinks in the fridge so you are left without any understanding of how much you really spending for a beverage! But the most important I found a bone in my food and almost got my teeth out whilst biting on it!! When I questioned the staff member all they could say that they are not preparing meat on the site!!!!! When asked who’s going to take a responsibility for this all they could answer was a pathetic “I’m sorry” a couple of times! This place is a joke! Avoid at all cost!!!

The food was fine for a kebab place, kebab was fresh and juicy, but meat was barely warm and greens stone cold, so in general the kebab was barely warm. Service: waiting time was 40+ min(!) for 2 kebabs with fries and sauces. This is unforgivable for a kebab place. There was even not a full seating and no intensive deliveries going on. To their justice, the cashier lady informed us about waiting time, but I wish we knew that sooner (we made order online with collecting at the place, no waiting time was indicated during online order). Also, they forgot to include our sauces, but at least corrected this mistake when we indicated that. Prices are average - 17eur for 2 kebabs, 2 fries and 2 sauces as of February 2025. The place has very comfortable location in very center of Sigulda. Inside there is a fresh interior and the atmosphere is overall cosy. Warm blankets available.

The XXL kebab is pretty big. The meat inside is in generous proportions. It's a pretty nice place for a small town or in general. It definitely is better and cleaner than many kebab places in the capital.

Mid. Expected better. No real difference between size M and L. Meat stuck to my teeth, carrot was oddly chewy (and why even add carrot to a kebab?). No alternative sauce options, and kebab should definitely not come with mayo.

Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Portion was huge (large was huge extra large was even huger). Lots of salad, and probably a bit too much sauce. Fries were nice. The beef kebab meat tasted like it had been carved and left sitting for a long time though and didn’t enjoy it.

Ok, place but can be improved. Quite alright place specializing in kebab, but also have burgers, fries and the likes. Food is good but nothing revolutionary and price is acceptable. Service on the other hand was a mess when we went there. Stressed out staff that don't communicate clearly and double check the order. Resulting in one of the dishes being forgotten (first one that we said), so was a mess to later solve it since there also was a big queue. So that is something that could be improved. Otherwise the location is pretty nice since it's located in one of the corner in a food hall. You have both seating outside and inside, although inside is a bit limited. Parking is also available right outside with plenty of spaces.

The hamburger was really good, 4 stars. It had a nice charred flavor. Really fresh toppings and it was big. The kebab, maybe 2 stars. The chicken was better than the beef. It had no sauce and it was really really dry. I expected better kebab from a place named KEBAB factory.

Dropped by La Pizza Veloce with a rumbling stomach and a controversial craving: Hawaiian pizza. Yes, I willingly ordered pineapple on pizza, and no, I have no regrets. The pizza arrived in exactly 7 minutes and 17 seconds — blink and it’s in front of you. True to the name, they don’t mess around with “veloce.” The service was equally speedy and super helpful, like they’d been trained by Formula 1 pit crews and customer service angels. Now, onto the pizza. First off, the additional garlic sauce? Surprisingly good. Tangy, rich, and they tasted homemade — the kind of sauce that’s been stirred with love and maybe just a little passive-aggressive Italian pride. The toppings? Generous. No stinginess here. Ham, pineapple, cheese — all showing up and clocking in for work. A hungry person like me didn’t have to go on a topping treasure hunt. The dough had a nice bite to it, though I’ll admit the price leaned slightly into “treat-yourself” territory. Not outrageous, but enough to make you raise one eyebrow like a suspicious detective in a pizza crime drama.

Good for a quick meal while passing by or if you want to have a cozy experience and take your time. Industry standard prices but with a speedy delivery (admitedly, my company were the only guests at the time). The pizza has a nostlagic feel, well seasoned and nice cheese that is glossy and caramelised, not quite the spongy, strechy and dry feel you tend to get in most places. The base is super thin, which seems to get a tad too crispy, not a dealbreaker, but if it could get a bit more chewy that would be amazing but thats personal preference. Recommend for pizza enjoyers as well as people in a hurry who would still like a filling meal.

Ordered a pizza from a lady that was not friendly at all. Pizza came. Smaller than I thought and had no sauce. Pizza should be more sauce, not cheese on dough. I would not order here again.

Came here 2years ago and knew that returning to Sigulda this year wanted to come here again. The service is excellent and pizzas so filling. I recommend to try the Tutti Frutti pizza that has bananas on it. I ordered it 2years ago to try and half joking but now ordered it again this time as this is the only place I know that offers it and it is honestly delicious.

The employees were kind and helpful to explain the food to us, and they gave big generous portions, especially when you look at the price for it. The food tasted pretty good, it's not the very best food of course, but for this price (8€ per person) there's nothing more you can expect. We really liked that you could combine what you wanted into a selfmade dish, and there were a lot of nice places to sit as well in the restaurant

Great local food. Big portions for a good price (paid 23 euro for two full plates and drinks and a desert). Staff speaks English so can help you navigate the choices.

You get what you pay for. Cheap, quick, mediocre. Vegetarian option is boiled vegetables. English is not understood.

We came here because of good reviews and low prices. After we spent more than 5 minutes going through the menu so that everyone could decide what they want to eat and started to order the woman said "1 hour waiting time" with a completely emotionless pokerface. No sorry no apology no empathy no nothing. Would have been nice to know this BEFORE we invested the time to go through the menu... The restaurant was empty, there was a single couple at one of the tables so not sure what takes an hour on a few burgers... We just went to get a kebab elsewhere instead.

Tom yum soup was completely tasteless, only ate the shrimps, maybe their spice rack was stolen last night, because spicy wings didnt have any spicy in them... but the taste was at least better. The atmophere is nice.

Location and food is good. The staff, however... Waitresses and cashier ladies seem to be in a bad mood. Came 2x within 2weeks and in both cases they totally seemed like they don't want to work there.

Visited the place for a quick lunch on a Friday. Food and drinks arrived swiftly. Only note is that a found a hair in my Caesar salad, and I when I told the waiter about it - he didn’t even budge. No apology, no discount, nothing, which was unpleasant. Also, the churros are not particularly good. Maybe I was unlucky, but won’t visit again.

I was very disappointed, i have been to other Ezītis miglā(Riga) and the foot there was good, but here simply disgusting. When we went on a Saturday at 16:00 the place wasn’t busy but they barely had anything left, most of the foods we asked for ware not available and the wait time was 30min. We ordered ceser salad, pork chop with potatoes and chicken with rice. The salad was mid not enough sauce and the meat was quite dry, the chicken with rice was ok, but u could still tell under the good sauce that it was old. The pork was the most disgusting, it was completely old seemed like it had been cooked a week ago, frozen and then wormed up, the outside was very hard and oily and the inside was basically rubber, the potatoes ware the only good thing. We didn’t have time to go elsewhere so we just ate it, but should have sent it back. I understand why there ware no locals there on a Saturday. And also i used my student card which should have given 10% off but the cashier only gave 5%, but my fault for not noticing fast enough.

We have been waiting for over an hour and still no food although there were only a handful of people (not everyone even ordered food). When we asked the staff about an estimated remaining waiting time she simply said 10 minutes – no apologies. The staff could at least warn customers about unusually long waiting periods. Save yourselves the nerves and go some place else. They are also aware of the problem based on the reviews here AND the fact they make you pay upfront. Once the food arrived it was quite alright. Tom Yum soup was good. Pancakes a little too greasy but overall good. Sweet potato fries could be crunchier but have a nice taste to them. The honey mustard mayonnaise is the highlight of the dish. Burger is also ok/good.

The food was tasty and interesting, also delivered very quickly. Service is absolutely horrible. Only one person taking orders and making drinks for customers, making it extremely busy. You can look at menu online but still have to stay in a quee at the bar to make orders. Deserts are served immediately with the main dish, so ice melts right in front of the eyes of the client. Big tables on terrace are tiny and made only for drinks, unhandy for meals. Unofficial covers on popular music, so expect Despacito with English lyrics. Parking was plentiful.
