Bridge
The Roman Bridge in Cangas de Onis is a stunning testament to medieval architecture, dating back to the late 13th century. This centuries-old arch bridge gracefully spans the Sellar River and stands as one of Asturias' most iconic symbols. Visitors can enjoy picturesque walks across its length while taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Very pretty bridge over a scenic river. Cangas d'Onis itself is a pretty town - set up for tourism, but not over touristy. Well worth a stop if you are in the area.
Martin B — Google review
Beautifully restored Roman Bridge. There is a beautiful garden and lots of restaurants very close by to rest and admire the bridge.
Carin K — Google review
Very nice place for visiting. Recommend.

Lovely town and bridge is stunning !! Defo worth a visit.. part of the Picos Triangle..
David M — Google review
Really nice bridge, recommended to visit while walking through the city
Fabio B — Google review
You only need 10 to 15 minutes to visit and it will take you longer to park your car. The bridge is large and the surface is uneven rounded stones. Due to that and the steepness of incline some may have difficulty ascending. Still a great old bridge.
Sam B — Google review
Worth to see, the bridge is authentic roman structure.
Yoana S — Google review
Pre-breathtaking with a bunch of little restaurants and their terraces overlooking it. People swimming on the river below, which had completely transparent waters

Tourist Office Cangas de Onis

Tourist information center
The Tourist Office Cangas de Onis is a helpful place to gather information about visits to the lakes and the Virgin of Covadonga. Visitors have praised the friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide good recommendations for exploring the area. The office features a map with buttons that light up LEDs, which children find fascinating. Some visitors have suggested adding a public toilet to accommodate the high number of tourists in the area.
Delightful hotel, incongruous breakfast dining area felt subterranean and 70's style ceiling, but good food...
Quentin S — Google review
Sooo helpful, extremely friendly stuff. Most of the staff speaks english and they‘re all willing to help. Helped us with booking a 2 days tour to one of the refugios and even let us leave out stuff there over night. Haven‘t had any luck with tourist offices around Asturias concerning the Picos, this one is worth the visit!
Mia B — Google review
Friendly lady gave us good advice about how to spend the day around Cangas de Onis.
Casper K — Google review
The assistant was miserable and unhelpful. They made no attempt to suggest tourist attractions in the area. They only gave curt answers to questions with no effort to elaborate. They were audibly groaning as we were leaving the office.

Hiking area
Peaceful and easy route. Calming river sounds all the way. Loved it
Katerina P — Google review
Worth a visit, for sure, but don't get your hopes up for a peaceful swim at the "beach" if you go in summer. It's a lovely spot that's of course ruined in the high season by masses of people who leave behind rubbish, toilet paper, and dirty nappies. You're better off stopping for a swim along the way to the beach (there are at least 3 other suitable and quieter places, including underneath the bridge itself). Parking is limited to about 15 cars, so either go early or park at one of the nearby restaurants and buy at least a coffee for good karma. Once parked, it's about 2.5kms each way. Make sure to wear good walking shoes and take your rubbish with you.
M A — Google review
The hike begins on a wide dirt road and continues onto a narrow path with protruding, smooth stones, be careful not to slip. During the route we met a man who fell and injured his knee, fortunately for him, it was a minor injury because rescue could have been difficult. The stream creates a natural pool with snowmelt water, which is excessively cold even in mid-August. On the way to the pool there are many places to get to the water. I went to up to the pool and back, apparently the trail continues further more.
Y Y — Google review
Stunning scenery. You can walk among the mountains, parking along the road somewhere. We went across the metal bridge and walked for about fifteen minutes to a paddling area. Very peaceful
Natalie F — Google review
Some parts of this trail are tricky with slippery rocks instead of a path. In high summer season, it’s packed with people specially at the end at the small beach. Worth stopping half-way through for a swim.
Gonzalo B — Google review
A beautiful 5-6 km round trip hike along the river. At the end, we are rewarded with a small pool of clear water where we can swim. Be careful as the path is narrow, rocky and sometimes very slippery (even when it is not raining), so wear good shoes and make sure you have a good sense of balance.
Elena R — Google review
Beautiful swimming spot up a long trail. The path is quite uneven so wear good footwear!
Thom B — Google review
Relatively easy hike out and back for a great payoff

Hotel Santa Cruz

Hotel
Hotel Santa Cruz is a charming property located in a great area, offering well-designed rooms and a sophisticated restaurant with a bar. The hotel provides reasonable prices and excellent breakfast options. Guests have praised the friendly staff and modern facilities, including comfortable rooms with good showers. Despite some minor issues like small room sizes and hard pillows, the overall experience is positive due to its convenient location, value for money, and peaceful atmosphere that allows for restful sleep.
Very comfortable and charming hotel. Clean, silent, relaxing with good receptionists. The location in the city center.
Katya D — Google review
Really overpriced for a very basic hotel. 'Mountain view' room has a view onto a public park and swimming pool without any actual mountains as advertised. Air conditioner despite being turned off kept making a very loud noise every 10-20mins making it impossible to sleep. Room not clean (hairs on the bed etc) and small, towels had holes. Breakfast an extra 10eur per person despite the already exorbitant price. No parking available either - we were told that there would be ample street parking but actually had to park a fair bit away and was quite difficult to find. We complained about the above, especially the air conditioner, and were given a very small compensation by management only; even with that it was still way more expensive than much much better places we stayed in other towns in Northern Spain and Picos de Europa region. The price is absurd compared to the rest of Spain. Strongly recommend staying elsewhere
N L — Google review
This was a very fortunate “find”! We selected the hotel mainly because it was close to the bus station - but it turned out to be an excellent choice - overall, outstanding value. It is, indeed, an easy walk from the bus station, largely pedestrianised, with an easy ramp where there are a few steps up to the riverside. It’s located on a quiet road, but only a short walk from the middle of the town, or from the Roman Bridge. We opted for a “mountain view” room. As others’ have noted, the views aren’t greatly better than from the other side of the hotel (although it was very attractive both with morning mist hanging over the river and at sunset on a fairly clear evening) - but the rooms and the bed are larger, so well worth the extra, in our opinion, especially when booking early enough to get a good, “breakfast included” price. And it was the breakfast that crowned a generally excellent visit; easily the best we encountered, for both quality and value, during our month in Spain. It provided an extensive buffet, including hot bacon and fried eggs (with the eggs cooked in small batches so you were guaranteed a freshly-cooked one), with a reasonable selection of breads and excellent selections of meats, cheeses, cakes and pastries, plus the usual juices, spreads, etc., with as much coffee or tea as you want. It also has the largest selection of condiments I’ve encountered anywhere - I suspect you’d need a week to sample them all. Finally, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and reception open well into the evening. We had three great nights here, and I hope we manage enough future trips to Spain to get to stay here again!
George H — Google review
This rural hotel is located just meters from the main road in Cangas de Onís. The women at the front desks were fantastic! Very gentle and welcoming, they offered us a variety of options to do while in town. The price is fair and room is comfy. I would go back to the same hotel.
Julio C — Google review
A very pleasant hotel with reasonable prices, in a great location. The breakfast (€9) was very good and reasonably priced for the variety. The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming. The room was quite small, but well laid out and functional. Unfortunately, I'm taking away 1 star for a very simple thing - the pillows were very hard and uncomfortable, which would easily be fixed by a trip to IKEA, so it's hard to understand why they get so much right, and such a simple thing wrong.
Dave C — Google review
We were a group of 10 motorcyclists with 10 bikes. We travelled 3 1/2 hours mostly mountain roads to Cangis de Onis after arriving at 13.00 in Bilbao from Rosslare. Parking was on the street right opposite the hotel and they were perfectly safe there. Hotel is modern, with a lift and the rooms were comfortable with a very good shower. Prices represent great value, dinner was good and the price included wine, the breakfast was excellent with a wide range of items buffet style. Ideal for bikers and recommended.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Dolmen and Church of the True Cross of Cangas de Onís is a small but fascinating site that can be easily included as part of a leisurely town walk. The church, with its rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, was rebuilt after being destroyed in the Civil War. It stands on top of a dolmen from the 700s, which can be viewed through a hole in the basement floor.
Interesting but tiny, its not a long visit, I would sugges visit as part of a town walk. Lots of information on the walls about the history but all in Spanish & mobile signal for translations too weak. Read more in the evening back at the hotel. Its in a major tourist town so lack of some information in english a surprise.

Mesón Puente Romano is a charming restaurant located in an amazing spot right under the Roman bridge. It offers standard food and drink options, making it a lovely stop for travelers exploring the Picos de Europa. The outdoor area provides a beautiful setting to enjoy a meal or drinks. Although there is a 10 card minimum for payment, the friendly service and pretty good food make it worth visiting. However, it's important to note that they do not serve cider by the glass.
We got two coffees with some cookies. We sit outside and it was a perfect environment.

Wow what a place! Perfect place to have lunch/dinner. Next to the old roman bridge. Food and service excellent. Also for a very good price.
Stefan — Google review
This is always a favorite when we visit the area. Situated next to the Sella river in the shadow of the 13th century Roman bridge, this place is a culinary staple of Cangas de Onís. The setting is so beautiful and serene. The food is always delicious; personally I enjoy the entrecot and cheese platter. Also, the desserts are wonderful. The grandma cake (tarta de la abuela) and cheesecake are a few favorites. Like always, the staff is exceptionally kind and friendly. Overall, this is a great place with good food and friendly staff. You can’t beat the hospitality of this area. Enjoy.

Cool location right on the river and dog-friendly. Food seems to be a bit hit and miss. On a recent visit a third of the grilled sardines were close to raw and bloody. When we told and showed the waiter as we asked for the bill, he acknowledged the problem but left it at that. Maybe we should have complained earlier, but even so he could have offered a complimentary coffee or something like it to make us feel better.
Barbara C — Google review
I ordered a very tasty fabada which is a bean and sausage stew very local in Asturias. Unfortunately there were larvaes in the sausage.. I know its not the failure of the restaurant but they managed it very badly.

Amazing location with an outdoor area right under the Roman bridge, standard food and drink options. €10 card minimum though, and they don't serve cider by the glass

I ordered the waiter's soup and water with ice and lemon. After 15 minutes he brought water and a flat plate with a knife and fork. I asked him if I should eat the soup with a fork. He made a silly face and disappeared into the kitchen. After another 10 minutes another waiter arrived and exchanged cutlery and plates. After another ten minutes another waiter came and said that the soup was over and he wanted to squeeze me in and some other dishes. I was hungry and angry. I have never met such a non-competent and slow support before. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away from him

Restaurante El Molín de la Pedrera is a charming spot in Cangas de Onis, offering a modern twist on traditional Asturian cuisine. The restaurant serves classic seafood dishes, stews, and regional specialties like Cabrales cheese and natural ciders. Visitors praise the warm and friendly service, particularly highlighting Angel, one of the owners, for his attentive and informative approach. The dining experience is described as exceptional with great food and a lively atmosphere.
We've been coming to Asturias for four years now. You can find some of the best restaurants in Spain here, but this one was a big and pleasant surprise. The food was amazing, I had one of the best seafood tapa in my life and the best Rabo de Toro in Spain. The staff is super friendly and professional, the restaurant has a nice and rustic design. I hope they get noticed by Repsol and Michelin guides.

A fantastic place! We stopped by here after a trip to Covadonga and the food absolutely did not disappoint. They had a wagyu steak option on their menu of the day & it was stunning, I'm still thinking of it weeks later! The cheesecake is a must-try for dessert, however, don't be deceived by its size! It's incredibly dense and I needed my partner to help finish the slice. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and added a much welcome personal touch to our experience. He spoke excellent English and he really made our meal so enjoyable! I absolutely recommend this authentic gem if you're in town.
James F — Google review
The most amazing find in the small town of Cangas! One of our favorite meals of our Spain trip. The owner really made the experience special. It’s obviously a family-run place, and so the service can be a little slow when they’re overwhelmed, but it’s absolutely worth it to be somewhere where they really care to make you happy. The food was fantastic too! Some delicious, creative ways to highlight Asturian cuisine, from the local cheeses, to the eggplant, to the fabada stew, to the goat and oxtail. I would come here all the time if I lived nearby!
Natalia S — Google review
One of the top two culinary experiences in town. Traditional dishes in Asturias are awesome but if you have been there for a while and want to try something different, this is your place. Here tradition meets innovation and the result is splendid. Make sure you reserve some space in your belly for the desserts.

A delicious lunch with dishes based on traditional Asturian ingredients. The food was unique, well prepared, high quality and exceptionally flavorful. Our waiter spoke very good English and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Our check for four selections from the menu, wine, with coffee and a glass of Pedro Jimenez afterward came to 61.10€.

Great experience! The host is so nice, he tried to learn some words in our local languege, and was really trying to explain every ingredient in every dish, trying to match us with the best dishes for us All of the food was really really good, both vegiterian, meat and fish. The kitchen is local Astyrian food with fine dining touch, and as the hist told us- the place is family owned and all the infredients are local (including cheese from a farm owned by the host's sister) The service was on spot and very professional Very reccomended, a meal which is also an experience
