Spanish restaurant
Restaurante El Molín de la Pedrera is a charming spot in Cangas de Onis, offering a modern twist on traditional Asturian cuisine. The restaurant serves classic seafood dishes, stews, and regional specialties like Cabrales cheese and natural ciders. Visitors praise the warm and friendly service, particularly highlighting Angel, one of the owners, for his attentive and informative approach. The dining experience is described as exceptional with great food and a lively atmosphere.
We've been coming to Asturias for four years now. You can find some of the best restaurants in Spain here, but this one was a big and pleasant surprise. The food was amazing, I had one of the best seafood tapa in my life and the best Rabo de Toro in Spain. The staff is super friendly and professional, the restaurant has a nice and rustic design. I hope they get noticed by Repsol and Michelin guides.

A fantastic place! We stopped by here after a trip to Covadonga and the food absolutely did not disappoint. They had a wagyu steak option on their menu of the day & it was stunning, I'm still thinking of it weeks later! The cheesecake is a must-try for dessert, however, don't be deceived by its size! It's incredibly dense and I needed my partner to help finish the slice. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and added a much welcome personal touch to our experience. He spoke excellent English and he really made our meal so enjoyable! I absolutely recommend this authentic gem if you're in town.
James F — Google review
The most amazing find in the small town of Cangas! One of our favorite meals of our Spain trip. The owner really made the experience special. It’s obviously a family-run place, and so the service can be a little slow when they’re overwhelmed, but it’s absolutely worth it to be somewhere where they really care to make you happy. The food was fantastic too! Some delicious, creative ways to highlight Asturian cuisine, from the local cheeses, to the eggplant, to the fabada stew, to the goat and oxtail. I would come here all the time if I lived nearby!
Natalia S — Google review
One of the top two culinary experiences in town. Traditional dishes in Asturias are awesome but if you have been there for a while and want to try something different, this is your place. Here tradition meets innovation and the result is splendid. Make sure you reserve some space in your belly for the desserts.
Pablo P — Google review
A delicious lunch with dishes based on traditional Asturian ingredients. The food was unique, well prepared, high quality and exceptionally flavorful. Our waiter spoke very good English and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Our check for four selections from the menu, wine, with coffee and a glass of Pedro Jimenez afterward came to 61.10€.
Robert W — Google review
Great food. Wonderful atmosphere. The host is kind and funny and will explain everything you need to know about every dish.
Yoel K — Google review
Great experience! The host is so nice, he tried to learn some words in our local languege, and was really trying to explain every ingredient in every dish, trying to match us with the best dishes for us All of the food was really really good, both vegiterian, meat and fish. The kitchen is local Astyrian food with fine dining touch, and as the hist told us- the place is family owned and all the infredients are local (including cheese from a farm owned by the host's sister) The service was on spot and very professional Very reccomended, a meal which is also an experience

My wife and I went to eat in El Molin de la Pedrera yesterday. We found it by pure chance since the restaurant that we aimed for was closed - and how glad are we that we did! Excellent service, super friendly people and the best sirloin steak I have eaten in years! Fully recommended! :)

La Sifoneria is a charming restaurant that offers a taste of traditional Asturian cuisine in a setting steeped in history and culture. The decor pays homage to the town's heritage of siphon manufacturing, creating a unique dining experience that doubles as a museum. The menu features local products and classic dishes, with highlights such as the renowned cachopo and delectable Cabrales croquettes.
Highly recommended! Very warm atmosphere, great service, and delicious food! All dishes served to share, like Spanish tapas. Excellent experience! For 3 adults and 1 kid, we ordered salad, zamburiñas, croquetas, merluza, tortilla, and carillera, which was spectacular. In the end, we ordered 3 desserts, which maybe was too much, but very tasty. We'll come back!
Alyona S — Google review
Very good food. We went for the cachopo, fritos de merluza, Sabadiego, croquetas and Asturian cider all delicious and very good quality!! Friendly service and good value.
JR S — Google review
The place itself is really small with barely 4 tables inside. Outside they have a big terrace with many tables. Inside is super nicely decorated with siphons (this is where the name comes). As far as the service is excellent and the food is good but is completely overpriced. They take advantage of this villa which is super tourist to charge 40% more than other places. We can have exactly the same quality of food or even higher at any other place much cheaper.
Rutas A — Google review
Excellent range of sharing dishes (everything designed to be shared in the middle of the table), particular stars are the cheeses (both savory and the sweet cheesecake), the fabada and the solomillo. If you're particularly adventurous you'll love the mollejas or the callos too they're both top notch. But really everything is delicious and it's the nicest vermut in town, has a lot of character as a venue and plenty of outdoor space (with cover). Also fantastically reasonably priced. Hard recommend if you are in town!
David W — Google review
Excellent traditional Asturian dishes that delight the palate. The Fabada was so flavorful with beans that melted in your mouth. The red peppers filled with rice were delicious. The cheese torte for dessert was a sweet finish to the lunch. Including a glass of the excellent house vermut and a glass of wine each, the check for the two of us was 44.10€. The outstanding meal was well worth the cost.
Robert W — Google review
This place is stellar. We had our best cachopo here. The service was also great and everyone very kind even though they have plenty of people to serve. Great place in Cangas de Onis!
Max B — Google review
We came here to try some tapas and were seated outside. The service was very fast and attentive, and the outdoor ambiance was nice and relaxing.
Mary S — Google review
Lovely traditional restaurant with amazing regional dishes. We tried ofcourse the Fabada (white bean casserole) This may well be the most famous dish in Asturian cuisine. The main ingredient is fabes, which are large white beans, cooked with what is known as compango, a mix of different meats such as pork belly, chorizo and morcilla.and the Cachopo. This is a meaty delicacy, consisting of two veal or beef steaks filled with cheese and a slice of ham

Sidrería La Caldera is a popular restaurant in Cangas de Onis known for its traditional Asturian food and rich cider. The place is frequented for its great quality and affordable prices. It's recommended to try their specialties like the large cachopo, chorizo a la sidra, tortos, and roquefort croquettes. The cozy restaurant is run by a friendly husband-and-wife team who provide honest advice on portion sizes.
Excellent meal. Came due to the Google reviews. We were not disappointed! Extremely tasty food, generous portions, excellent value for money, fun cider-cracking dispenser and friendly waiter/barman. Highly recommend.
Jonathon W — Google review
Great authentic family run Asturian restaurant with a friendly and welcoming host! He was more than happy to help us with dish suggestions and guide us on pouring the cidre. We had cachopo, cider choirzo and an amazing cheesecake make by the host’s wife.
George H — Google review
Great, cozy place! The owner is very friendly and attentive. He manages to speak English well and makes an effort to entertain you even in another language. The prices are great considering the portions you get! We got the mixed cheese and meat plate and it was plenty for the both of us. If you want to taste real Asturian cheese, this is the place to do it! Would come again. Note that the place is very small. We were just before 20h and it was empty. 10 minutes later the whole place was full.
Vincent B — Google review
Really tasty Asturian food! The atmosphere here is great and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The owners are super nice and know some English which is really refreshing. They even told us that we ordered too much food and made us choose 2/3 of the dishes. We took cachopin, tuna salad, sider and for desert a cheese cake. Do note that it fills up quick so come early at around 19:30 even to register for a later hour. The place has 6 tables in total. Super recommended!
Yair K — Google review
So much fun and such great hosts! This sideria is family owned and it shows in the service and the food. The cider is delicious, the food was not too greasy and packed with flavors, the owner was lovely and funny. We will come back to visit again! Thanks for such a great time.
Myriam V — Google review
Don’t be put off by the small place with 6 tables—the food is fantastic! Pepe and his wife, the owners, serve fabulously good food and Pepe is charming. He can guide you in your selection. We had a house salad (it’s more than enough for 2), tortos with chorizo, and cachopin with a bottle of Sidra. Ended with Asturian cheesecake. All were superb. I mean, really delicious. We did eat too much, but Pepe warned us it was a lot. And super reasonable.
Juan S — Google review
TRADITIONAL ASTURIAN FOOD AND CIDER. Nothing special but delicious and incredibly cheap. A dinner for two will cost you only around €25. The owner is a jovial guy, who gives you honest advice on whether you're ordering too much/little. The place is small and does not accept reservations by phone. Hence, come early to secure a table.
M H — Google review
The best restaurant I ate whilst in Asturias. A great family restaurant with amazing food and a very helpful owner who recommended great dishes and made sure we did not over order. I would most definitely recommend to anyone looking to eat great Asturian food!

The atmosphere is great, very professional service, friendly and polite. There is some pouring show for some home drink. The t-bone was absolutely amazing and was made medium by the book. Salad was super fresh and tuna tartar very good. Got recommendation from airbnb host nearby it was perfect.

MK B — Google review
Excellent meat restaurant. We ordered meat cuts to share, and the meat was great (served on a hot plate at the table for additional grilling). Lots of appetizers. For vegetarians, there’s an excellent vegetable rice dish, salads, and fries. Reservations are not available, the wait outside is very long. The service is excellent.
Eran T — Google review
Very good food , great meat dishes , in a lively fun area of town , fantastic for steaks ribs , Iberico pork etc, great value restaurant

The best steak I have ever been served. Aged, cut, seasoned and cooked to perfection. I have no confidence that I will be satisfied if I order grilled steak again.

Nestled in the charming town of Cangas de Onis, Restaurante Sidrería El Polesu offers a delightful culinary experience steeped in Asturian tradition. This rustic eatery, housed in a former mill adorned with massive barrels, serves up an array of tapas and classic dishes that truly capture the essence of the region. One standout dish is the Cachopo, which pairs beautifully with their renowned cider served in traditional style.
Great rustic atmosphere, the food was really good and the waiters were professionals. Highly recommend!
Jessica S — Google review
An amazing local tavern with fabulous Asturian dishes and waiters that correctly pour the local cider from over their heads to yield the best flavor. I was astonished that the cider paired fabulously well with a salad of tomato, lettuce, onion, olives and tuna fish (absolutely delicious - never thought that cider would taste so good). The small chorizos were the best I have ever had, and the boronchu (morcilla) were delicious. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. The bar is clearly a sports bar as all eyes were on a bicycle race while we were there. The other customers were local patrons and families just there to enjoy themselves. With some of the best food we have had in Spain, a lively and fun atmosphere, El Polesu is very highly recommended. Our tab for cider, bread, three entrees and coffee afterward came to 36.80€.
Robert W — Google review
Wow! What an amazing experience! The fabada was delicious, Jose was the perfect host teaching us how to pour sidra, and the atmosphere with the barricas made dinner unforgettable. Can’t wait to return!
Rui T — Google review
Great atmosphere and service. The place had a real Asturian feel which we really enjoyed.
James M — Google review
The food was really local and tasty. The service was okay, there weren’t very nice. We had cachopo and it was really good, and the zamburiñas were also really tasty. In the end, we drank a local aguardiente that was the cherry on top of the cake.
Liliana R — Google review
A real and typical asturian restaurant I dare to say. I had there the typical Cachopo which I accompanied with beer, I am not that keen on the sidra. Unfortunately the beer was estrella Galicia which in my opinion is very similar to the sevillian Cruz Campo. Anyway, the Cachopo compensated all of that bad decision with the drink. The restaurant has a lovely room with huge barrels and also they serve the sidra in a traditional way.
Rafael C — Google review
The food is delicious. Cachopo is the typical dish and it was very tasty. Sidra is also amazing. The worst part was the fact that it was crowded and loud.

Very delicious menu with extensive choice of food . From soup to salad to different protein choices. The cheese Asturian salad was very deletable. The service was prompt, attentive to each table and does not make us wait too long. The only time I eat Spanish menu with no draggy timing. The chef done a great job as well. Delicious meal and well presentable. The fried dorada was on point...very well cooked, crispy and just right amount of salt to taste. Very lovely! Their salad dressing was simple but tasty. Ambience was nice and doesn't look like a tourist trap. Price is reasonable to it's food and place. Recommended!

I've tried their menu of the day, and totally recommend it. It had many options and was worth it for €20. Also the portions were really huge.
Anna H — Google review
This an insult to anyone who enjoys the amazing foods available in Asturias We choose from the Carte and not the daily menu ,croquettes buey. 8 small misshapen lumps of over breaded product ,the filling was a tasteless mess of to little meat and no seasoning. 10 euro Zamburinas plancher 10 small scallops which had come from the freezer straight to the grill no seasoning at all only some rough cut garlic and cooked to the stage of becoming small pieces of rubber. Pulpo and langoustine was served swimming in a horrible packet sauce ,it was clear the prawns and pieces of octopus had come from the freezer and dropped into this horrible sauce ,cooked to the point that the prawns were dry tasteless lumps and the octopus was boiled into tiny lumps of rubber My glass of Albariño which was requested was a glass of an unknown white wine brought to the table already poured It was never an Albariño,just a cheap white wine The simple bread was undercooked and had not received enough time in an over to form a proper crust My impression of the service and food was that I was another dumb tourist to serve rubbish and take the money The scallops we’re 16,50 euro and the prawn dish 18 euro Which had they been good produce well cooked would have been fine As it was this was a car crash of bad cooking and terrible service I am not a tourist I live in Gijon and as a retired master chef I have over 50 years of kitchen history and food is my passion To finish this type of restaurant is what gives some Spanish foods a terrible name
John M — Google review

We tried bean stew with chirizo and bacon, enough for 2 not starving ppl with a starter. Soup with seafood was too salty for our taste, but generous too.

Thy treat customers very poorly. They told me they open at 19H, I went back to the hotel and arrived at 19H. When I arrived back at 19H, they told me they open at 20H. Their attitude was also not very polite. I don’t leave bad reviews usually but I did not feel good around this place.

Sidreria Vega Redonda offers a great experience with helpful staff and delicious regional food. The "fabada" is highly recommended, and the cachopo has an amazing look. The menu features simple yet delicious food, including sharing platters that offer good value. Visitors praise the cachopo as the best they've ever tasted and compliment the desserts and cider. Overall, it's a place worth visiting for its tasty food and excellent service.
At first the staff seemed to be a bit tired of being alive, but I'm guessing it's a thing with the locals or something, because in the end they were very helpful and the food was 5 stars. El Horru Encantau is a vibrant dining spot that truly stands out, especially during the quieter low season when the rest of the town seems to slow down. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, thanks in part to attentive staff like Leo and Lea, who ensure every guest feels valued. The menu boasts an impressive selection of dishes; from a surprisingly generous cheese board to a gigantic yet delicious cachopo, there's something for everyone.
Huge grilled meats restaurant with an enormous and beautiful terrace out back where we could bring our dog. Service was very efficient and friendly. Portions are enormous and the quality is outstanding. The mixed grill for two people (€48) could easily feed four. Even the coffee was terrific.
Julie T — Google review
Loved the atmosphere, food, and service! Leo & Lea were great and attentive waiters! While the rest of the town seems to be asleep during low season, this place had a very lively environment. I ordered the 1/2 cheese board (which was bigger than I expected), the cachopo which I was warned about the size but ordered anyway was indeed gigantic but equally delicious, the arroz con leche was probably my least favorite item but still good. The white wine was also phenomenal!
Heydy G — Google review
It's easy to see why this place is so popular. An amazing chef really knows how to make meat, it was so delicious. And I liked as well the service. Even though I didn't order cider, they brought me a glass just to try and the cider was excellent. Absolutely recommend this restaurant.
Tatiana B — Google review
One of the best meals I have had in years. Everything was fantastic but the desserts are out of this world. They're worth really driving up here for and that's a lot to say. This meal made our day and we can't recommend it enough.
Álvaro C — Google review
We had a great meal here. Lia is a passionate girl who provided us with the most attentive service. The food here is amazing—we ordered the beef from El Cuco and the cabrito. We also learned how to properly drink cider here. A wonderful meal!
Melson S — Google review
All about the steak. The beef here and the scallops (zamburiñas) are both phenomenal. The best cuts of beef are pre ordered but if you can get a tomahawk or chuleton it is 100% worth the extra as the flavour is insane. Huge restaurant with plenty of outdoor space. Good range of wines with particularly good dry whites. The cecina is also terrific, coming with a light shaving of queso Cabral and a dash of olive oil on top to liven it up. Quality of meat is stunning and worth going to restaurant for alone! We went twice!!
David W — Google review
The chuleton and desserts were excellent. LTC salad (Lechuga, Tomate, Cebolla) is literally what it says so no complaints. The staff overall was quite friendly (the girl at the door and Daniel). 100% recommended.

Asturian restaurant
La Joguera is a highly recommended restaurant in Cangas, known for its delicious and generous portions of typical Asturian food. The place has received accolades for its outstanding cachopo, which many consider the best they've ever had. Visitors praise the excellent service and lively atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot in the area.
We chose this place because others have praised it, but it often happens that this means nothing. This time the rating is on point, because patatas 3 salsas is not only a delicious particular dish (won't tell by it's looks), but also definitely one of the best potato variations I have ever eaten in my life. Piementos de padron are not far behind. Excellent. The other dishes we tried are also very good.

Just had dinner at this place which was great! Our party was made up of three children and four adults. The children were made to feel welcome and a children's menu was available. The staff were really friendly and the food, which was delicious, was delivered swiftly. Toilets were clean too! Very recommendable restaurant

We knew La Joguera was nominated for best cachopo last year. It was the first cachopo we had and it was amazing! I write this review after some more cachopo’s and I can definitely say this was by far the best we had. We shared the cachopo and we also had some croquettes, which were great as well. Highly recommend this place when you are in Cangas!

The food came in really quickly. It was delicious. I ordered escalopes with cabrales cheese and it was one of the best I had. The service was really nice and engaged in his work. The dessert (cheesecake) and the coffe were great as well. I definetly recoment visiting this place.

(Translated by Google) We went for dinner and ordered two burgers. One of them was the "Esperanza Rosa Palo Burger," recommended by the waitress (very nice). I have to say I wasn't entirely convinced because it came with black bread and dragon fruit mayonnaise... 😳 But when I tried it, its flavor pleasantly surprised me. It was delicious, and with it, €1 is donated to the Cancer Association 💗 The other burger was also very good, but I don't remember the name 😅 100% recommended (Original) Fuimos a cenar y pedimos dos hamburguesas.

(Translated by Google) I ordered the Burrata burger and it was amazing, with sweet bread, salsa, sundried tomato, pistachios, and the burrata inside the same burger. I've never tried anything like it. Highly recommended, something different and delicious. Without disregarding the fries, which were also delicious, quality rustic fries. I also tried the sweet potato fries, and for something I don't usually like, I would have gladly swapped them due to the wonderful flavors, with sauces that matched the food.

El Abuelo is a charming restaurant that offers a relaxed atmosphere and wood-paneled space where you can enjoy regional dishes like fabada bean stew and rice pudding. Great “Menu del día”. Lots of delicious food, with appetizer, lunch, desert, and drink included. The meal was VERY good and you won’t leave hungry! A GREAT deal!

We were in a visit to the Cangas de Onís town and were attracted to this restaurant for lunch based on the relatively good reviews. However, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences. Very rude. We asked the gentleman (featured in one of the pictures) about how long it takes to get the order ready, just to set expectations and he replied by: it takes what it takes (tarda lo que tarda)!. He asked about what to drink, and we said glasses of water, which is customary in Spain and served on a complimentary basis, and he was not happy (he ended up bringing glasses of water though). We asked to replace one side by another, he said it is complicated! He kept giving us looks that made us feel uncomfortable. Another waitress was very nice though.

Casa Pedro - Restaurante y Alojamiento Rural is a must-visit restaurant in Asturias, offering a modern twist on traditional local dishes. The timber-and-stone setting provides a charming ambiance for enjoying their excellent selection of typical Asturian dishes with fusion cooking additions. The portions are generous, and the food is well-balanced and delicious. Visitors rave about the quality of the bread, meat, and cheeses. Additionally, Casa Pedro offers ample parking and boasts beautiful surroundings.
We went for lunch. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The food was delicious: a fantastic salad, a marvellous portion of hake, stuffed with seafood, and a fabada stew to finish. We only ordered one portion of each, which was more than enough for both of us and, on the waitress’ recommendation, we even cut the fabada diwn to half a portion. We didn’t order a dessert as we were already completely full. Moreover, the whole meal was very reasonably priced. What more could you want? A wonderful meal in an idyllic setting. Highly recommended!

We had lunch for 3. Unfortunately the steak was almost inedible. So much gristle it could not be eaten. The waisted saw how much steak had been uneaten and did not ask why.... Such a shame as it ruined a pod lunch.

I went for dinner. Amazing food!! I’ve lived in Madrid for 5 years but these croquettes were the best I’ve eaten (one with cheese and ham and the other with an Asturian cheese). The artichoke with the ragu was also exceptional, and of course, the fabada extremely tasty. The service was very friendly and efficient and the bill was less than I was expecting, so good value for money. I’ll be back

This place blew the doors down with amazement! Just what we needed after a day of hiking in the mountains...at first we were nervous, it might be a tourist locale, but to our excitement, we seemed like the only non-locals. Loads of truck/lorry drivers and general working class. Perfecto... On to the food, #CulinaryMarvels! The Fabada you ask? Fabuloso! Then there was the Cachopo! You gotta be kidding me how delicious this was!!! The photo doesn't do justice. This baby could have fed a sports team! The Asturians make Austrian Schnitzel look like child's play. If this was English football, Cachopo would have won the EPL and dominated the Champions League! The Schnitzel would have been like Sunderland FC...but never left League One. There was only one item missing with the Cachopo. A couch to lay down with my newly made Cachopo baby in my belly. The bottle of wine helped, but I needed a siesta mi amor...te amo Cachopo, siempre en mi corazón...

Restaurante Hotel El Repelao is a charming hotel located in a 1700s inn, offering simple yet comfortable rooms with the option of park views. Visitors have praised the variety and quality of the food, particularly recommending dishes such as the cheese salad with multiple types of cheeses, excellent rib eye steak, and delightful Torta de quezo dessert.
I stayed at this hotel and would like to start by saying that both the staff and the location are simply excellent! The breakfast included in the stay was also great. Of course, I also visited the hotel's restaurant. The service was outstanding, and so was the food. Despite being fully booked and the staff clearly very busy, the waiters somehow managed to remember every guest and serve everyone incredibly quickly. Thank you so much for your wonderful work!

Beautiful location. The drive through the gorge to get there even in low cloud was spectacular. Our room was on the first floor and very clean. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the glass roof of the restaurant below. We thought it might be noisy when we went to bed but it was absolutely fine. We slept very well and had a super sized bed. Our meal in the restaurant was okay. Breakfast was very nice. Excellent value.

Amazing venue, impeccably decorated and the food was amazing. However, the service is fairly typical of Spain (a bit rude/ uninterested in customers and in a rush to get you out). Our waitress had zero interest in exploring the menu or making sure we had a good experience, which is the only reason I would give this a 3. If not for the poor service, I would give this a 4 or 5. Also, the road there is quite treacherous so not for the faint of heart! Very narrow.

The goat stew and the father bean with Bonito or my two favorite dishes, but every bite and every smiled delivered with every piece of bread were five stars. Bar-Tienda Enol is a warm and casual spot that offers tapas, wine, and cocktails in a lively atmosphere with sidewalk tables. Recently renovated, this restaurant stands out for its slightly higher prices but unquestionably worth it dishes. Located in an excellent spot, it could be considered more of a gastrobar or wine bar than just a restaurant. It serves traditional Asturian cuisine with flavors from Cangas de Onis using top-quality ingredients. The standout dish is the fabada.
Very friendly staff and unusual vegan menu. Finding vegan food around these areas is not easy, so I was thrilled to find this place, that has a full vegan menu of hearthy dishes and very generous portions. «Restaurante El Palaciu Pintu» in Cangas de Onís is a very friendly restaurant. They cook delicious food and the restaurant is very cozy. The restaurant with a large terrace is also located on the most beautiful square of this nice city. You look out over the eponymous «Palaciu Pintu» and the beautiful facade of the «Iglesia de Santa María de la Asunción». But what I find most special is the warmth and friendliness of the owner and her staff. Nowhere else during our tour through Asturias were we welcomed so warmly and helped so nicely as in this restaurant. ¡Muchas gracias!

Good vegan food outside of Madrid and Barcelona is near impossible, but this tiny place has done it! I was dreading the fact that I'd have a rubbish bocadilllo, but the vegan and vegetarian menu is extensive and tries to stay true to the local cuisine. The young guy serving me was super polite and didn't pressure me to finish even though I was sat alone. Highly recommend the cachopo, it's full of vegetables and is so heavy I couldn't finish it.

We arrived to this restaurant on Friday afternoon at around 14h, when we arrived, couple of tables were occupied, so we sat and ordered our food. Cachopo and tortos. I must say that the cachopo that costs me 26€ was not at all worth the prices. The meat seemed to be not fresh at all with a very strange taste. For the very first time I did not finish my meal due to strange (not normal) taste of the food. The fries also were not well cooked at all. By time the restaurant get even more crowded and the staff seem to be lost and very late in taking and delivering the orders. Overall not a good experience at all and not satisfied with the food neither with the service.

These Spaniards in the north country REALLY like their siesta time. Couldn’t find a restaurant in town (Canis de Onis) this afternoon that would serve more than drinks before 8:30p. Pension Casa Pepe is a straightforward guesthouse with bright, simply furnished rooms and a warm restaurant. It's known for its delicious food, generous portions at low prices, and excellent service. The staff is friendly and the place is kid-friendly with a little playground near parking and a terrace for parents to enjoy coffee while watching their kids play. The location is convenient for visiting the lakes, although there's no elevator in the two-story building.
Fantastic little place, good food, plenty of parking and a fabulous location.

My “room” had a little open door for the spare parts room, like it was normal happen. My room was so hot and without ac that i barely could sleep. During the dining, the food was horrible, it took 1 hour to make 2 hamburgers and 5 sandwiches, then when one of the ladys ask for a scrambled eggs the waiter turned his back against us while shouting “the cuisine is closed”

Two stars is a honest and fair rating. They went up with the prices but that's not the reason for my bad rating. I think the menu is very mediocre compared to what you get else where. The fabada is okay, definitely nothing special, the rest of the dishes come nowadays with very badly made French fries. They used cooked potatoes once upon a time, but I think that's not what they go fore anymore. Friendly stuff, but somehow thinking that this is a hot spot for eating. Well, unfortunately it's not, anymore.
Jon B — Google review
No chance this place reaches 4.6, more like 3.8 or 3.9 like the rest of the tourist traps on this road, mediocre food that goes straight from the freezer to the oven to the table with chips on the side, ordered rice with meat for first it was just about edible, second I had this pre cooked lamb that came in a clay dish sizzling in oil, the lamb was dry as hell, these people are aiming for volume sacrificing quality, I do give them a very good rating on the service and politeness. The thing that finally pushed me to this review is that we ordered coffee instead of desert and got charge extra 1.10€ for each coffee.

We just passed by chance and stopped for having breakfast. The tortilla de patata is very delicious and the waitress is very friendly. Also it’s a very kid-friendly place with a little playground near parking and a terraza for parents enjoying coffees meanwhile watching the kids playing. Nos ha gustado mucho.

Had a great meal with a large group of 11 people including many children. Staff was very accommodating and attentive. Normal meals is a menu of the day system with a first plate, second plate, drink and desert, but children are given the option of just having one of the plates (plus drink and desert) for a lower price. The fabada was solidly good, but our favorite dish was the lamb with fried potatoes featured in many of the pictures. Meatballs (albondigas) were also gobbled up by the children. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

We were there to have lunch. We ate a daily menu, which cost 15€ per capita and we received food galore, with an excellent quality, a great variety of traditional dishes and they treated us flawlessly. Would recommend it without a doubt!
Millán C — Google review
In this restaurant you can choose the daily menu only, which is 13 euros including water and wine. We chose a more expensive Rioja for 10 euro. Quality of the food was acceptable for that price. We had a nice table outside with a view on the hills. People were very friendly.

Restaurant
Restaurante Casa María is a charming spot located in a town with picturesque old architecture. While the terrace overlooks the main road instead of the river, it offers a pleasant setting. The service may come off as slightly brusque, but the staff is efficient and somewhat warm. The real highlight here is the food, which may not be fancy in presentation but is incredibly delicious and generously portioned. This restaurant provides an authentic taste of Asturias with its excellent food and service.
The food here is fantastic, nothing very fancy but great flavor and that's the most important thing. The prices are normal, not expensive at all. The staff is nice and pleasant.
Luis P — Google review
The portions are large! The staff spoke mostly spanish, prices were more than reasonable. We took the rabo de toro, tortos de maiz and the ensalada de tomate. Everything was very good but we could not finish. *We came back a second time with experience and wisdom. We took only two plate this time (fabada and the pulpo a la plancha) both were very good but still we could not finish. The fabada on his own with bread is enough for two.

Good restaurant just somewhere along the road in a village We had a delicious entrecote there. (on a sizzling plate). But also the side dishes where good. House wine (in a bottle), good and and very reasonably priced. Despite it being quite busy, the service coped well.
Emiel R — Google review
Awesome place. The town is worth a walk to enjoy the oldy architecture, but there is nothing relevant about the restaurant itself: terrace faces the main road instead of the river behind (mistake?), and there is no highlight inside. Service is ok: they seem a bit rude, but all of them are efficient and "kind of" warm. Value is in the food: it might not be presented in a stylish way, but everything we took was damn good and big, really big! Definitely worth then visit if you are hungry in the area. Sidrería Picu Urriella is a popular restaurant in Cangas de Onis that offers a delightful dining experience. Visitors have praised the menu of the day, which includes dishes like fabada and scallops, all of which were described as excellent. The cheesecake dessert was particularly highlighted for its deliciousness. The attentive service from the waitstaff also received positive mentions.
(Translated by Google) I've waited a bit to post the review. I have visited this restaurant several times, they personally treated me very well, the food was always spectacular (thanks Rocío) and the attention from the waiters was very good. But I think there is one of the waiters who has brutal potential with customer service and that is Mateo, friendly and professional in equal measure. It's nice to see him work... I saw him serve a fish on a table and he did it with a care and attention that many would like. And it has a spectacular aspect to sell.

Expensive, small portions and poor service too. Tried the mixed cheese dish and they were bad cheeses. The lacon (ham) was poor. The croquetas where OK. Ordered three rice pudding dishes and two of theme where sour. There are other restaurants which are far better near by.

We managed to get a table during a busy lunch hour and were accommodated by a friendly waiter. However, on entering, we were repeatedly shoved aside by a waitress who clearly had no concern for guests trying to come in. The food was ok, but not well managed. Part of our order arrived after a wait, and the rest about 20 minutes later. To be fair, the waiter was clearly frustrated and was seen giving out to the kitchen staff about the delay - the issue was not on his end. We ordered 3 egg and chips (one with jamón), two bean dishes, a type of steak, and 3 desserts. We also had two bottles of cider (which we had to pour ourselves) and a beer. The total bill came to €170. No discount was offered for the extremely long wait, not even a chupito (small drink) by way of apology. Unfortunately, my dad, who doesn’t speak Spanish, paid the bill without telling me, so I didn’t get a chance to raise the issue with the staff before leaving. Overall, while the waiter was doing his best, the experience was very disappointing, and I absolutely would not recommend this place.
Ciaran M — Google review
I don’t fully understand the other reviews, this was clearly a solid restaurant. We had a nice cheese plate, the local beans dish was great and the service was charming and swift and the portions big. However, it was quiet expensive compared to other options in the town and we were there very early and pretty much the only guests. So we had no other options due to siesta, but also they didn’t have many tables to handle - so maybe we got lucky.

Rude service and they charged us 8 euros for bread, worst place in Cangas.

(Translated by Google) The place is not bad, it is a street full of cider houses and that is the first one starting the street. The waiters are friendly but unprofessional with little uniforms. One with a cap as if we were chatting with friends. A lot of mess at the bar. The food is terrible and the quantity is very abundant, if you order a cachopo three people can easily eat. We ordered a menu and ate with fear. By the way, the one with the cap, if you ask him, will pour the cider into a glass and he is a machine.

(Translated by Google) What a shame that with such good food, they have such poor service. We ate an 18 EUR menu and the rest of the table a la carte, the cachopo for two and escalopines. The waiter had a bad face, did not know how to answer questions about the menu, and had quite poor aptitude. Being a cider house, he serves you the cider and leaves, they ask him if he can pour it and as he leaves he tells them that the cap is a pourer and he doesn't explain how to use it, nor does he bother in the least... An attitude that to be in agreement To the public I don't know how to understand... The quality/price menu is good and delicious, beans with clams (good) and scaloppines for the main course, cheesecake (very delicious). The cachopo €35, for two, abundant, juicy and good. Cabrales scallops 12 Eur, abundant and good. With a professional and attentive waiter, business would be much better. Another point is that they do not accept card payment, which at this point in life is not understood. Since they didn't have that much effect, they gave us the option of bizum 🤷 (Original) Que pena que con una comida buena, tengan una atención tan pobre.

Casa Morán - Restaurante y alojamiento rural - is a unique and lovely place in Asturias, offering friendly and professional staff, perfect for recovering from a long trip or day in the mountains. The food is highly praised, with typical dishes from Asturias at affordable prices. Visitors rave about the homemade desserts and the opportunity to enjoy good wines. The restaurant's Fabada is particularly recommended, described as fit for a king and surpassing even Michelin-starred versions.
Excellent with everything- the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. We had dinner and were very impressed. We went back again to try different dishes…. All were spectacular. I highly recommend Casa Moran for a wonderful Asturias experience!

Avoid This Place! This Highly-Rated Restaurant Is Totally Overrated with a Horrible Experience I came here full of expectations, but every single thing was such a letdown that I wanted to walk out right away! The signature Fabada was as salty as if someone dumped an entire salt shaker into it. One bite made my throat feel tight, and you couldn’t even taste the original flavor of the beans and meat at all. The Arroz I ordered had such a tiny portion—it didn’t even cover the bottom of the plate. It felt like it was gone as soon as I barely filled my stomach, and the cost-performance was ridiculously low. The most frustrating part was the service. The waiter had a cold face the whole time and never took the initiative to help. When I asked a question, I had to repeat it three times, but it was like they didn’t hear me. I couldn’t tell if they were hard of hearing or just didn’t want to provide service. I spent money just to put myself through this hassle, and I’ll never come back again!

Absolutely superb in every way. We arrived just in time for the Lunch and it was delicious. We were on route and so only stayed one night; the room was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Staff from check-in, Lunch waitresses, and evening bar staff were all polite, helpful and efficient - thank you all. Without hesitation i would recommend both this Hotel and Restaurant.

We visited from Washington, DC and stayed at Casa Morán and ate at the restaurant several times. The hotel is centrally located in town with close access to beautiful hiking, or shopping and beaches in nearby towns like Llanes. The rooms and common areas are very clean with plentiful open air and naturally lit spaces to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenes surrounding the town. The hotel was quiet, clean, very safe and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant: we ate several lunches and dinners at the restaurant and every single thing we ate was amazing quality and prepared perfectly! The fabada was delicious and as authentic as you can find! The cheeses, fish, beef and ribs were all incredible and the lamb (lunch) was phenomenal! Deserts, wine, coffee and bread were also delicious. You can’t go wrong here! It’s the perfect place to visit for an authentic experience without compromising on comfort and accommodation and everything was priced VERY reasonably. We will definitely visit again!

We had the good fortune to come here for dinner last night. Wow! What a great find. The food was the best we’ve tasted in Spain so far, and we’ve been here a couple of weeks. I had the local cheese for entree, which was beautifully presented and tasted sensational. My husband had the prawn dumplings, and he loved them. For main I had the salmon and he had the cod- both perfectly cooked and presented. We also ordered a mixed salad which was very generous. Add a bottle of wine, and a chocolate dessert to share, and we knew we were in heaven. Thanks to our patient waitress, Mencia, who helped us enormously with the translations, and the chef, Donita, whose culinary skills and presentation are outstanding. I thoroughly recommend.

Been to many places while in Asturias, most of them by recommendations, other just by chance... This place is unique, staff is extremely friendly and professional, really, it is difficult to find such friendly people, natural, helpful, servile and simply nice. The place is lovely, much more than you can tell when at the facade, perfect to recover from a long trip or day in the mountains, and the food is something! (Translated by Google) We arrived by pure chance. We were delighted to discover this restaurant with its welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. We were treated very, very well. The waiters were attentive and super friendly, and the service was very fast. The Asturian fabada was delicious, and the portions were... A platter for two people means you won't leave hungry. For the main course, we ordered kid goat and escalopes with cabrales cheese, both delicious, and the homemade cheesecake... Another level. It's not exactly baked, but a fresher one, and for us, it was the perfect finishing touch because it's not at all overwhelming. We are two VERY HAPPY eaters, and we left without any hunger. In fact, we took the opportunity to walk around Cangas, enjoy the scenery, and work off the food. All of this was part of the daily menu, so apart from the excellent quality of the food (which, by the way, since there were only two of us, they gave us a full basket of bread... and thank goodness, because the sauces were delicious, haha) and the service, the price was... Well, affordable, bordering on cheap, for the quality... €16 per person, on a terrace, cool and with a calm atmosphere... We just left and we're already looking forward to going back.

1) the waiter was rude in general, and initially refused to ask the kitchen for a Caesar salad without the dressing, arguing that it is not possible to make a salad without mixing it with the dressing (just bring it on the side - it was for a kid). 2) the Caesar salad came with a bug 🐛. The answer "it sometimes happens".

Great pizza, just takes a moment for the food to be ready we were a table of 8 so the food was brought out as it was made. Made for some very fresh and steaming pizza. Restaurante Merendero de Covadonga is a relaxed and airy eatery located in a rustic setting. It offers traditional Asturian cuisine and delightful desserts. The arroz con leche, or rice pudding, is particularly outstanding and considered the best in Spain by some. While the food is delicious and satisfying, it would be beneficial to have fish dishes on the menu as well.
Best cachopo I’ve ever had! Fabada was amazing too. Cannot miss the Arroz con leche from this place.
Robert M — Google review
This restaurant turned out to be a huge disappointment. We were surprised by the number of empty tables when we arrived, especially compared to the other restaurants we had passed along the way. Still, the terrace had a gorgeous view of the Covadonga Sanctuary, so we assumed the emptiness was due to its proximity to the road, making it less appealing to some. However, we quickly learned that this wasn’t the only reason. The staff was not helpful in translating the menu or explaining what the dishes were. At first, the waiter gave the impression that he didn’t speak English, but when it came time to pay, it became clear that he actually spoke it quite well, which made us feel like he had been pretending not to, possibly to upsell us more easily. We (5people) ordered a few classics (Cachopo 2x, Fabada 1x) that we were familiar with, but unfortunately, there was no Wi-Fi and our phone signal didn’t work there, so we couldn’t look up any of the dishes ourselves either. The food arrived immediately, and unlike every other table, we weren’t even offered bread... which we later realized was complimentary for everyone else. The portions were quite small, and honestly, it was hard to even find any meat in the dishes. Nothing tasted terrible, but it was far from what we expected. We originally asked for wine, and the waiter asked (with two English words) if we wanted a “good one.” We said yes, trusting his recommendation, but he brought us the most expensive bottle on the list without ever showing us the wine menu or even mentioning the price. When the bill came, we were in shock: €170 for three small dishes, two desserts, and one bottle of wine. The wine was decent, but for €50? We would’ve absolutely passed if we had known in advance. To make things worse, the waiter kept slamming plates down on the table and showed no interest in providing even a basic level of service. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and we definitely do not recommend dining here. (Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the food, as it wasn’t appealing, and I usually write only positive reviews. However, this time I had to point out the disappointment!)
Barbora H — Google review
I'm a big cachopo fan and I went there to try the so called cachopo ganador (winner). The meat was very tender and precisely cooked but the chorizo stuffing was covering all its taste, making it difficult to distinguish and enjoy the quality of the local beef , cheese and jamon. This small chorizo detail was enough to disappoint me. I was expecting something more traditional. There are greater cachopos all around Asturias and Madrid.

Lunchtime visit on recommendation from our hosts. Portions are huge and plenty of fire grilled meats. Rude and unhelpful service by some senior servers. Busy place with parking and just off the main tourist route. Deserts absolutely appalling.

Lovely restaurant - we had cabracho for a starter, and it was delicious. We had the parilla for two for dinner, and it was really good - criollo, pork solomilllo, ribs, and more that was supertasty. Served with chips, padron peppers, and salad. The cider is great and the service was very nice 😊

This place is very good, the meat was amazing I had the picanha and it was cooked perfectly on, I could see the open fire from my table. Waiters were nice and easy going very good would recommend to anyone who likes a good steak 🥩

Have visited this place 4 times, seems each time the quality of food goes down. Last visit will be my last, salad served with avocado basically mush, inedible. French fries served with meal were tough and cold, clearly made hours ahead. Beef ribs were inedible, extremely tough. Many other places with better quality.

Bar restaurante Orandi offers impeccable service and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The traditional Asturian dishes are a must-try, with the cabrito being particularly outstanding as it falls off the bone and is complemented perfectly by blueberries. The arroz con leche serves as a delightful palate cleanser. The menu also features fabada, chorizo criollo, and escalopines, all of which are generously portioned.
Waiters very attentive. Orders came in quickly. Meat were all amazing and arroz con leche was great! You need to try it!

We arrived at 6pm and they close at 8pm. The reason we chose the restaurant was because the meat is cooked over wood. We were rushed, the meat was just fried in a pan with too much oil, they were cleaning the floors with bleach whilst we were eating and to be honest the only ones that enjoyed the meal were my dogs who had my munite type steak that I took home!
Michelle G — Google review
After a visit to Covadonga, we stopped for lunch at this incredible traditional Asturian restaurant on the way home. The Asturian meat definitely has its unique and amazing flavor. When served on a stone, still cooking, with an extraordinary aroma amidst a landscape with the fresh scent of local nature, it makes for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

Over priced food. Not what we were expecting to get. The beef was basically raw and the edible parts were tough and chewy. The surrounding does not make up for the poor quality of the food. The prawns were good though but very expensive.

Impeccable and attentive service from the waiter. We tried all the typical dishes and they were all delicious. This place is sloppy and the food is disgusting. We had a salad and it was something that I could make at home, then I had a burger, it's like they just threw on some salad, tomato, cheese and mildly warm fried chicken and had left it in the fridge overnight. Mesón Puente Romano is a charming restaurant located in an amazing spot right under the Roman bridge. It offers standard food and drink options, making it a lovely stop for travelers exploring the Picos de Europa. The outdoor area provides a beautiful setting to enjoy a meal or drinks. Although there is a 10 card minimum for payment, the friendly service and pretty good food make it worth visiting. However, it's important to note that they do not serve cider by the glass.

Wow what a place! Perfect place to have lunch/dinner. Next to the old roman bridge. Food and service excellent. Also for a very good price.

This is always a favorite when we visit the area. Situated next to the Sella river in the shadow of the 13th century Roman bridge, this place is a culinary staple of Cangas de Onís. The setting is so beautiful and serene. The food is always delicious; personally I enjoy the entrecot and cheese platter. Also, the desserts are wonderful. The grandma cake (tarta de la abuela) and cheesecake are a few favorites. Like always, the staff is exceptionally kind and friendly. Overall, this is a great place with good food and friendly staff. You can’t beat the hospitality of this area. Enjoy.

Cool location right on the river and dog-friendly. Food seems to be a bit hit and miss. On a recent visit a third of the grilled sardines were close to raw and bloody. When we told and showed the waiter as we asked for the bill, he acknowledged the problem but left it at that. Maybe we should have complained earlier, but even so he could have offered a complimentary coffee or something like it to make us feel better.

I ordered a very tasty fabada which is a bean and sausage stew very local in Asturias. Unfortunately there were larvaes in the sausage.. I know its not the failure of the restaurant but they managed it very badly.

I ordered the waiter's soup and water with ice and lemon. After 15 minutes he brought water and a flat plate with a knife and fork. I asked him if I should eat the soup with a fork. He made a silly face and disappeared into the kitchen. After another 10 minutes another waiter arrived and exchanged cutlery and plates. After another ten minutes another waiter came and said that the soup was over and he wanted to squeeze me in and some other dishes. I was hungry and angry. I have never met such a non-competent and slow support before. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away from him

Arrive early for lunch and stimulate your appetite by swimming in the river below through the small gate near the kids' play area. Everything was awesome. Service, dishes and price. Even I would say that it is cheaper so it is actually. The service 5 stars had not been filled cause I believe there was not enough staff and they could not be in each corner. San Martín - Gastrobar is a hidden gem in the area, perfect for families with kids who want to run around and play while enjoying delicious food. Visitors rave about the exceptional pulpo dish, which is said to be the best they've ever tried. The staff are known for their kindness, adding to the overall amazing experience of dining at this establishment.
Went for lunch while traveling in Asturias with my wife and parents and we loved everything about the experience. Food - we started with the avocado and Salmon salad that was really tasty but could have usedore of theain ingredients for it's price. The chorizo in cider was really tasty and mushrooms in cream sauce as an appetizer were amazing, great variety of mushrooms and very flavourful. For mains we ordered the ribye and "lacon". They brought the ribete piece to the table before cooking it to confirm the size was to our liking and it was. I ordered the steak medium, but they brought it medium-rare. After I mentioned that, they brought a hot stone so I can finish it in the table - nicely done! Very high quality meat. Pork was also very good. For desert we ordered the brownie, and even though it was tasty, it was more of a plain chocolate cake. Service was kind and fast. The place is located in a tiny village in a big garden surrounding it so the atmosphere is very calm and pleasant. Prices were generally ok but some dishes I thought were a bit expensive. Value for money - 7/10. Would.be happy to come back!

We went for lunch with family, we ask to seat outside, where we could see available tables and they have said no, during our meal the only good thing was the starters, cheese platter, bread and clams. I am vegan and ordered a salad for me, they simply cut chunks of lettuce place in a plate with some other vegetables on top and melted cheese on top no seasoning, horrible I left it all in the plate and had to go somewhere to get something to eat and they make us to pay for the salad. Conclusion I don’t recommend since you can find much better place down the main road.
Monte S — Google review
Charming setting with a nice ambiance - situated on a hill with cute farm cats wandering around the tables. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to what we’ve had in the area for the higher price point. The entrecôte was just okay, and overall the meal felt a bit underwhelming. Service was not very attentive; the busser was actually more helpful and spoke better English than the main wait staff. We also got the sense that we were treated more like tourists than welcomed guests, especially compared to how others were received. A decent stop, but not one I’d go out of my way to return to.

The place looks nice and the main dishes were pretty good. This being said, the service wasn't what you'd expect from this "fancy" restaurant. No smile from the waiters, not once we're we asked if we needed anything but worst of all was the plastic cake they dare to call a brownie!! Never have I ever tasted such a disgusting "postre". I expected a fairly good dessert after the main course but I couldn't go past the first bite... And my sweet to tooth is very easy to please. It was still smoking from being heated way too long in the microwave. We got up and went to pay, the waiter brought the plate back still full. Neither him nor the person cashing up seemed to care as they looked at the barely touched dessert plate! I surely left with an awful taste in my mouth!
Mehdi H — Google review
This one was an odd mix for me. We had one good dish (the grilled squid), one mediocre dish (the grilled vegetables, half of which were very undercooked), and one dish I could have well have assembled in the dark when drunk from weird rests left in the fridge and pantry (the prawns on toast). It could have just been we ordered the wrong things, but the toilets were also very odd. Very, very clean, but there was no lock and no toilet seat. Neethless to say, we will not be going there again

Possibly the worst experience ever in all our years of overseas travel. If you value your safety and expect good customer service then do not stay in Parador de Cangas de Onis. Booked for the wrong date :-( My heart sunk we had been on motorcycles and had no energy to go any further. Many thanks to Anna on the front desk they honoured the same price and found us a room!!!! I had booked two months in advance. Daniel made us feel right at home and even carried our bags to our room! Beautiful room with outdoor garden. Breakfast is fantastic. It's hard to grow wrong with Paradors but this just highlighted to me the level of service you get. Muchas gracias Anna and Daniel Highly recommended

Keep your expectations low Reference: our stay Saturday 17 May 2025 Incident: My husband trapped alone in lift for over 30 mins. Complaint: * No on site duty manager or deputy manager on a Saturday evening in a hotel of over 60 rooms. *Badly trained staff who ignored the lift alarm, assuming instead that it was a car alarm from one the cars parked outside. *No possibility of direct access to lift by any member of staff. Instead a lift engineer had to make an emergency call out to repair the lift. It took him an hour to get to the Parador. *Lack of an emergency communication system between trapped lift occupant & reception staff. We believe this may contravene Spanish health and safety regulation / ITC -AEM 1. *My husband was very shaken by his experience of his enforced solitary confinement. Had he not been fit and well, the incident could have easily deteriorated into a serious personal health issue. The Parador had a lucky escape. *When we eventually sat down to eat a very late dinner, the staff around us were clearing tables in the rather cavernous basement dining room to set up for the breakfast buffet. *For our very disrupted and unpleasant stay, the Parador manager offered no compensation, even in kind. We received from him only a corporate complaints form which has subsequently got us absolutely nowhere within the Parador organisation. *Moral of our story: be sure to deal with any matters of customer (dis)satisfaction on the spot and in person. And keep your expectations low. P.S. Food at this Parador was very average. P.P.S. You are obliged to pay for drinking water in your room. P.P.S. Very slow check in procedures - be prepared to be patient

A popular place not only because it’s very accessible on touristy route to Covadonga monastery or the lakes, but also because they have good food. Went for a late lunch and had to wait a bit for a table to clear. Food was delicious - had the champinon mushrooms with cecina and alioli and the shrimps al ajillo. Dessert was not an easy option, was even going to order two but waiter said I wasn’t going to eat all that - he was right, could barely eat one and went for the canutillos de arroz con leche (canelloni filled with rice pudding) Parking space outside.

food here is really delicious, but the service concept is not very tourist-friendly. there are two options: the regular menu (available in english) and the daily menu (only in spanish). we didn’t realize the daily menu can’t be shared. we ordered two menus for two adults and two kids, and the kids shared one dish (of four). in the end, we were charged for three menus — but without getting the food, drinks, or dessert for the third one. basically, we ate two portions but paid for three. great food, but if you don’t speak spanish, be careful.

Fantastic restaurant. We spent about 10 days in Asturia and this was definitively the best restaurant we visited. The selection of cheeses, scallops and caramalized apple salad all were delicious. The patio is also nice and spacious to rewind from a busy day. Highly recommended!

Was frustrated with “the daily meal” option. Totally fine to pay per person whatever supposed to be paid, but do not like the kind of service when the restaurant provide the whole details and than make you feel those who made a mistake.

Service was good, unfortunately the fish of the day, Tuna was over cooked and over salted, the rest of the meal was acceptable but not memorable. There are better and cheeper meals elsewhere.

Pretty good, the main dish was okay (I took the veal scallops, nothing spectacular) but the cheese plate was delicious (5 different local cheeses to try). My friend took the fabada and really liked it. Very nice terrace. Service was a bit slow and they tried to sell us the most expensive meat (which is not on the menu so better ask the price)

Nestled in the picturesque town of Carceu, El Meson de Carceu is a culinary gem that showcases traditional cuisine with an emphasis on their renowned cachopo. This charming restaurant offers generous portions, making it perfect for sharing among friends or family. The fabada is particularly noteworthy, as one serving can easily accommodate four people!
Very interesting cuisine that retains the soul of Asturias. You get to this place through a very narrow road but it's worth the journey.

Every dish was great and so was the service, and very affordable. I never thought that could happen at a restaurant that's the only game in town, with zero competition at that elevation. If I am in the area again I would make the trip up the mountain just to enjoy another great meal there.

Very quick and friendly service. Table was sprayed and wiped carefully. Coffee, tea and cheesecake arrived together as requested. I ate eggs and fries (no ham) and it was great quality eggs. This also arrived quickly. The menu was in both Spanish and English. There was a huge range or items available to order.

It is the only place at Lagos view spot. The food is ok, but not for my taste. They do not speak English. Restrooms have no paper and soap, the weather was too cold and it was nice warm place. But otherwise probably won't dine in there. Coffe is fine though. And view is incredible.

Cuarentagrados is a unique dining spot in Cangas that offers a refreshing twist on traditional dishes. The ceviche served in clam shells, nachos rancheros, and bao are all excellent and showcase slight variations from the usual California versions. The homemade guacamole, scallop ceviche, wings, court tacos with stewed beef, and nutty brownie dessert are all highly recommended. The efficient and polite service adds to the enjoyable experience.
We went for lunch and the service was very efficient and polite, and the food was delicious. Very different from Asturian food which was what we needed. Mini Hamburgers were the best we've ever had. Burratta spaghetti was very tasty. Obviously the ham croquettes were also. Menu was in Spanish but just use Google Lens to translate. Staff had good English also. Bar Restaurante Pico La Vieya is a charming and authentic eatery known for its generous portions of quality food. The restaurant offers gluten-free options and is particularly praised for its Argentina-style roasted lamb with chimichurri sauce and chuleta de vaca. While the steaks may come out slightly rare, diners can finish cooking them on the hot plate at their table, adding an element of fun to the dining experience.
Relaxed, bucolic, authentic restaurant with very generous portions of quality food! Good for gluten free. Steaks came out slightly rare for our liking but they finish cooking on the hot plate on the table which was really fun. Sadly, spit roast is only on weekends. Easily paired with a kayak trip on the Sella river nearby. Finally, props to the waitress who was juggling everything herself but still providing efficient service.

I strongly recommend you to read the newest reviews, as most of great reviews come from the times the original owner was running this restaurant. The overall review rate is not as high as it is because of the new management and the current cooking/serving/price ratio, unfortunately. We always loved going to this restaurant, but all has changed to worse since the change of owners/personnel. Today, we have been turned down in a very rude way by the older waiter that we cannot eat there anymore (we were regulars, mind me). The same thing can be done in very different way. Perhaps politely and not making the guests feel very unwelcome? But this specific guy lacks good manners and professionalism. It felt very uncomfortable and unfriendly. We have given them a few tries, to be fair, after the change of ownership. But it’s just not good. The possibly manager (not owner) is a cocky person who knows the best and behaves in a very weird way, pushing you into ordering what they prefer. It is, if they serve you. For that reasons, unfortunately, we concluded that this was the last time we tried to go there. What a pity and missed opportunity.

Restaurant
La Barca is a charming village-style restaurant located along the roadside of N-625, offering ample parking for visitors. The food is well-cooked and served in generous portions, ensuring diners leave satisfied. Popular dishes include the flavorful lamb stew and grilled fish, both accompanied by delicious non-frozen chips. Additionally, the restaurant offers a variety of local products and recipes, including fabada and cachopo. The attentive service adds to the overall pleasant dining experience.
Great service with amazing food, good portions and fair prices. I will come back. Highly recommended

Went for dinner with my wife and parents. Mixed feeling about food, great service, and decent value for money. The "Ensalada templada" was really tasty, good combination of cecina, cheese and veggies. We had the cachopo with cecina and goat cheese thst was really good. Portions were absolutely huge for both. What I didn't like was the fabada - it was tasteless and felt like they just poured some ingredients from a can to a dish and warmed it up. Service was great and they even treated us to the hot drinks on the house. Value for money - 7/10.

This is a village style restaurant standing at the roadside of N-625. Parking is available. The most important thing is that the food was well cooked and portion is sufficient enough to fill people’s stomach. I order two dishes, one lamb stew and one grilled wish. Both come with chips that were not frozen stuff like those provide in fast food restaurant. Both the lamb stew and fish were tasty, esp. the lamb stew. It was surely valued for money. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant. It has a very spacious dining room and an excellent service. The food is so good it will make you feel at home

the beans were tasty, the corn cakes with toppings just not very successful. The staff were helpful and proposed to give half of the portion, because I wanted to try more local dishes. however, I asked a glass of water and got a bottle - it is not ok to assume, the waiter should always ask if that's ok. plus, I was brought bread, which was extra charge and which I didn't order or touch. just cheap tricks get more money

Very high quality food, tasty and football in the area. Fabada and cachopo expectations can be met here. There's a good selection of other local products and recipes. Service is kind and close to the customer. Try also the desserts: anything that is made with mill is a treat here. Rice with milk is amazing.

We stayed 3 nights around Cangas and ate twice in la Barca. We loved this place and the kids like the generous plates, especially the cachopo, the local speciality. The service is good and they are experts in pouring the cidre and it is a bit away from the busier Cangas. I would go back here

Nestled in the heart of Picos de Europa Natural Park, Arcea Gran Hotel Pelayo offers a traditional Asturian experience with its quaint rooms and picturesque views of Covadonga Cathedral. The hotel's classic decor and spacious rooms provide a comfortable retreat for nature enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant serving delectable seafood dishes and a bar for relaxation.
Beautiful 4 star hotel from around 1900 with matching interior in the rooms. The location is breathtaking with mountains and the basilica dominating the scenery. Food in the regular restaurant is decent, though not special. But in the building you also have a second restauant (Cova Sacra) which well deserves a Guide Michelin star for a reasonable price. Best food in a long time!!! Unfortunately I have to make an amendment to my first impressions. Third day in a row that I had to park my car far away from the hotel (1 Km and more), as it is incredibly crowded during the season, and parking lots of the hotel and outside are sparse. Shy away from the location during summer...

The room was a good size and clean, the hotel is very grand if a little faded and past its best. Staff were helpful and nice but you got the feeling they had a low level of training. Its a very beautiful location...but very remote. The restaurant offered a reasonable fixed price menu. Parking was limited and poorly laid out, the staff, though very nice, appears a bit lost on how to run a hotel, for example us and another couple of guests were in the bar and it took ages for anyone to be around to take our order. The restaurant set up is a little strange too, if you have the cheaper menu you are in a different restaurant to the expensive one ... which feels kind of bizarre! Also, unless you are interested in the church, there is nothing to do, no choice of restaurants or bars...nothing! Hotel is a bit of a faded Grande Dame, but good for an overnight stop

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is beautifully located, surrounded by mountains. It’s fairly isolated, and apart from the religious attractions nearby there isn’t much to do except enjoy the nature around. Our room was very spacious, with high ceilings and a nice view of the mountains. The bathroom, however, had a faint sewage smell that never really went away. The hotel restaurant was actually very good, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. On the day we visited Lagos de Covadonga, it was extremely crowded – all the buses were fully booked, and we ended up waiting in the taxi line for about 1.5 hours. So make sure to book your transportation in advance. Despite the crowds and the wait, the trip was an amazing experience.

Rooms need some updating. The chairs feel like they are going to come apart. Bed is tiny (1.35 my) , this is 2025 is no longer acceptable and the mattress feels like it had never been updated since the hotel first opened over 100 years ago . Food in the restaurant was great, the cafeteria, better skip it.

Not worth it. The location is great, but …. First of all the staff doesn’t manage the parking situation at all. We paid 170 EUR per night and were forced to park our car elsewhere because visitors were leaving their cars on the hotel premises, and the staff didn’t seem to care, which is super disappointing. Another issue is that the hotel is unbelievably old and in desperate need of renovation. For such a high price, you cannot provide such terrible service and room quality.

The hotel is really nice. The rooms are comfortable and clean and large. It is kind of at the end of the road, so when you want to go somewhere you have to drive a little bit further, but it didn't bother us that much.

I don't even know where to start. This was the most disappointing stay during our honeymoon so far. Few days before arriving I was reading the reviews and saw that the AC was not working. I was really worried about that and I texted them in advance to ask if it's fixed. They had the audacity to write that everything was repaired and working (I see not from the reviews and from our experience that was not true): When we arrived at the reception after 4h driving the staff started to complain (no welcome, nothing) that we have 2 dogs and we've booked the attic room where dogs are not allowed. They treated us like we are some idiots who never travelled before. I ask also if the AC is working, they say yes. We arrive to the room which was incredibly small and has only 2 small bed lamps which illuminates it and it was HELL. It was incredibly hot, and then I see a ventilator. Hmm.. I wonder why is there a ventilator when they said they fixed the AC? I go to the reception (again) to tell them it is not working and the staff insists that the red blinking light of the AC means is working, I just need to wait. Fast forward to the 3rd day - it did not work. I went to the reception daily and every single time they gaslit me that they are working on it. Not to mention that the attic rooms have windows in the ceiling and during the second night there was rain and we could not open them to freshen the room because the rain was falling on our bed. We had to keep our room door open to cool a bit the room as the other guests were passing by. This was such a humiliating experience. The bathroom has no ventilation. It is simply a sauna. The shower was leaking and only 1/2 of the lights were working. The parking is a joke. Of course there was no space for the hotel guests and we had to park the car somewhere else.

Had lunch in the restaurant which is hidden below the hotel and separate from the cafeteria. It is a proper restaurant with a set menu of 22 euros and was very good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very cool in the lovely dining room. Planet of room I suspect because few people would find it. Love to stay at the hotel in a superb store say Covadonga, the price seems very reasonable.
