A fantastic place! We stopped by here after a trip to Covadonga and the food absolutely did not disappoint. They had a wagyu steak option on their menu of the day & it was stunning, I'm still thinking of it weeks later! The cheesecake is a must-try for dessert, however, don't be deceived by its size! It's incredibly dense and I needed my partner to help finish the slice. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and added a much welcome personal touch to our experience. He spoke excellent English and he really made our meal so enjoyable! I absolutely recommend this authentic gem if you're in town.

The most amazing find in the small town of Cangas! One of our favorite meals of our Spain trip. The owner really made the experience special. It’s obviously a family-run place, and so the service can be a little slow when they’re overwhelmed, but it’s absolutely worth it to be somewhere where they really care to make you happy. The food was fantastic too! Some delicious, creative ways to highlight Asturian cuisine, from the local cheeses, to the eggplant, to the fabada stew, to the goat and oxtail. I would come here all the time if I lived nearby!

One of the top two culinary experiences in town. Traditional dishes in Asturias are awesome but if you have been there for a while and want to try something different, this is your place. Here tradition meets innovation and the result is splendid. Make sure you reserve some space in your belly for the desserts.

A delicious lunch with dishes based on traditional Asturian ingredients. The food was unique, well prepared, high quality and exceptionally flavorful. Our waiter spoke very good English and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Our check for four selections from the menu, wine, with coffee and a glass of Pedro Jimenez afterward came to 61.10€.

Great experience! The host is so nice, he tried to learn some words in our local languege, and was really trying to explain every ingredient in every dish, trying to match us with the best dishes for us All of the food was really really good, both vegiterian, meat and fish. The kitchen is local Astyrian food with fine dining touch, and as the hist told us- the place is family owned and all the infredients are local (including cheese from a farm owned by the host's sister) The service was on spot and very professional Very reccomended, a meal which is also an experience

My wife and I went to eat in El Molin de la Pedrera yesterday. We found it by pure chance since the restaurant that we aimed for was closed - and how glad are we that we did! Excellent service, super friendly people and the best sirloin steak I have eaten in years! Fully recommended! :)

Very good food. We went for the cachopo, fritos de merluza, Sabadiego, croquetas and Asturian cider all delicious and very good quality!! Friendly service and good value.

The place itself is really small with barely 4 tables inside. Outside they have a big terrace with many tables. Inside is super nicely decorated with siphons (this is where the name comes). As far as the service is excellent and the food is good but is completely overpriced. They take advantage of this villa which is super tourist to charge 40% more than other places. We can have exactly the same quality of food or even higher at any other place much cheaper.

Excellent range of sharing dishes (everything designed to be shared in the middle of the table), particular stars are the cheeses (both savory and the sweet cheesecake), the fabada and the solomillo. If you're particularly adventurous you'll love the mollejas or the callos too they're both top notch. But really everything is delicious and it's the nicest vermut in town, has a lot of character as a venue and plenty of outdoor space (with cover). Also fantastically reasonably priced. Hard recommend if you are in town!

Excellent traditional Asturian dishes that delight the palate. The Fabada was so flavorful with beans that melted in your mouth. The red peppers filled with rice were delicious. The cheese torte for dessert was a sweet finish to the lunch. Including a glass of the excellent house vermut and a glass of wine each, the check for the two of us was 44.10€. The outstanding meal was well worth the cost.

This place is stellar. We had our best cachopo here. The service was also great and everyone very kind even though they have plenty of people to serve. Great place in Cangas de Onis!

We came here to try some tapas and were seated outside. The service was very fast and attentive, and the outdoor ambiance was nice and relaxing.

Lovely traditional restaurant with amazing regional dishes. We tried ofcourse the Fabada (white bean casserole) This may well be the most famous dish in Asturian cuisine. The main ingredient is fabes, which are large white beans, cooked with what is known as compango, a mix of different meats such as pork belly, chorizo and morcilla.and the Cachopo. This is a meaty delicacy, consisting of two veal or beef steaks filled with cheese and a slice of ham

Great authentic family run Asturian restaurant with a friendly and welcoming host! He was more than happy to help us with dish suggestions and guide us on pouring the cidre. We had cachopo, cider choirzo and an amazing cheesecake make by the host’s wife.

Great, cozy place! The owner is very friendly and attentive. He manages to speak English well and makes an effort to entertain you even in another language. The prices are great considering the portions you get! We got the mixed cheese and meat plate and it was plenty for the both of us. If you want to taste real Asturian cheese, this is the place to do it! Would come again. Note that the place is very small. We were just before 20h and it was empty. 10 minutes later the whole place was full.

Really tasty Asturian food! The atmosphere here is great and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The owners are super nice and know some English which is really refreshing. They even told us that we ordered too much food and made us choose 2/3 of the dishes. We took cachopin, tuna salad, sider and for desert a cheese cake. Do note that it fills up quick so come early at around 19:30 even to register for a later hour. The place has 6 tables in total. Super recommended!

So much fun and such great hosts! This sideria is family owned and it shows in the service and the food. The cider is delicious, the food was not too greasy and packed with flavors, the owner was lovely and funny. We will come back to visit again! Thanks for such a great time.

Don’t be put off by the small place with 6 tables—the food is fantastic! Pepe and his wife, the owners, serve fabulously good food and Pepe is charming. He can guide you in your selection. We had a house salad (it’s more than enough for 2), tortos with chorizo, and cachopin with a bottle of Sidra. Ended with Asturian cheesecake. All were superb. I mean, really delicious. We did eat too much, but Pepe warned us it was a lot. And super reasonable.

TRADITIONAL ASTURIAN FOOD AND CIDER. Nothing special but delicious and incredibly cheap. A dinner for two will cost you only around €25. The owner is a jovial guy, who gives you honest advice on whether you're ordering too much/little. The place is small and does not accept reservations by phone. Hence, come early to secure a table.

The best restaurant I ate whilst in Asturias. A great family restaurant with amazing food and a very helpful owner who recommended great dishes and made sure we did not over order. I would most definitely recommend to anyone looking to eat great Asturian food!

Excellent meat restaurant. We ordered meat cuts to share, and the meat was great (served on a hot plate at the table for additional grilling). Lots of appetizers. For vegetarians, there’s an excellent vegetable rice dish, salads, and fries. Reservations are not available, the wait outside is very long. The service is excellent.

Best Barbecue/ grilled steak in town, tender and tasty, nice and friendly service. Will absolutely revisit when go back town. Oh…they have delicious sauces for steaks don’t miss that!

I had a great time here! I came from Alberta Canada where beef is famous, but I think the steak here is better! Pork ribs is also so juicy. Great service!

An amazing local tavern with fabulous Asturian dishes and waiters that correctly pour the local cider from over their heads to yield the best flavor. I was astonished that the cider paired fabulously well with a salad of tomato, lettuce, onion, olives and tuna fish (absolutely delicious - never thought that cider would taste so good). The small chorizos were the best I have ever had, and the boronchu (morcilla) were delicious. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. The bar is clearly a sports bar as all eyes were on a bicycle race while we were there. The other customers were local patrons and families just there to enjoy themselves. With some of the best food we have had in Spain, a lively and fun atmosphere, El Polesu is very highly recommended. Our tab for cider, bread, three entrees and coffee afterward came to 36.80€.

Wow! What an amazing experience! The fabada was delicious, Jose was the perfect host teaching us how to pour sidra, and the atmosphere with the barricas made dinner unforgettable. Can’t wait to return!

The food was really local and tasty. The service was okay, there weren’t very nice. We had cachopo and it was really good, and the zamburiñas were also really tasty. In the end, we drank a local aguardiente that was the cherry on top of the cake.

A real and typical asturian restaurant I dare to say. I had there the typical Cachopo which I accompanied with beer, I am not that keen on the sidra. Unfortunately the beer was estrella Galicia which in my opinion is very similar to the sevillian Cruz Campo. Anyway, the Cachopo compensated all of that bad decision with the drink. The restaurant has a lovely room with huge barrels and also they serve the sidra in a traditional way.

The food is delicious. Cachopo is the typical dish and it was very tasty. Sidra is also amazing. The worst part was the fact that it was crowded and loud.

I've tried their menu of the day, and totally recommend it. It had many options and was worth it for €20. Also the portions were really huge.

This an insult to anyone who enjoys the amazing foods available in Asturias We choose from the Carte and not the daily menu ,croquettes buey. 8 small misshapen lumps of over breaded product ,the filling was a tasteless mess of to little meat and no seasoning. 10 euro Zamburinas plancher 10 small scallops which had come from the freezer straight to the grill no seasoning at all only some rough cut garlic and cooked to the stage of becoming small pieces of rubber. Pulpo and langoustine was served swimming in a horrible packet sauce ,it was clear the prawns and pieces of octopus had come from the freezer and dropped into this horrible sauce ,cooked to the point that the prawns were dry tasteless lumps and the octopus was boiled into tiny lumps of rubber My glass of Albariño which was requested was a glass of an unknown white wine brought to the table already poured It was never an Albariño,just a cheap white wine The simple bread was undercooked and had not received enough time in an over to form a proper crust My impression of the service and food was that I was another dumb tourist to serve rubbish and take the money The scallops we’re 16,50 euro and the prawn dish 18 euro Which had they been good produce well cooked would have been fine As it was this was a car crash of bad cooking and terrible service I am not a tourist I live in Gijon and as a retired master chef I have over 50 years of kitchen history and food is my passion To finish this type of restaurant is what gives some Spanish foods a terrible name

We tried bean stew with chirizo and bacon, enough for 2 not starving ppl with a starter. Soup with seafood was too salty for our taste, but generous too.

Thy treat customers very poorly. They told me they open at 19H, I went back to the hotel and arrived at 19H. When I arrived back at 19H, they told me they open at 20H. Their attitude was also not very polite. I don’t leave bad reviews usually but I did not feel good around this place.

Waiter was very nice and warned us about ordering too much food (always appreciated). Croquttes with squid were tasty (the portion is a bit larger than in the photo) and the picaña was very tender and juicy.

Loved the atmosphere, food, and service! Leo & Lea were great and attentive waiters! While the rest of the town seems to be asleep during low season, this place had a very lively environment. I ordered the 1/2 cheese board (which was bigger than I expected), the cachopo which I was warned about the size but ordered anyway was indeed gigantic but equally delicious, the arroz con leche was probably my least favorite item but still good. The white wine was also phenomenal!

It's easy to see why this place is so popular. An amazing chef really knows how to make meat, it was so delicious. And I liked as well the service. Even though I didn't order cider, they brought me a glass just to try and the cider was excellent. Absolutely recommend this restaurant.

One of the best meals I have had in years. Everything was fantastic but the desserts are out of this world. They're worth really driving up here for and that's a lot to say. This meal made our day and we can't recommend it enough.

We had a great meal here. Lia is a passionate girl who provided us with the most attentive service. The food here is amazing—we ordered the beef from El Cuco and the cabrito. We also learned how to properly drink cider here. A wonderful meal!

All about the steak. The beef here and the scallops (zamburiñas) are both phenomenal. The best cuts of beef are pre ordered but if you can get a tomahawk or chuleton it is 100% worth the extra as the flavour is insane. Huge restaurant with plenty of outdoor space. Good range of wines with particularly good dry whites. The cecina is also terrific, coming with a light shaving of queso Cabral and a dash of olive oil on top to liven it up. Quality of meat is stunning and worth going to restaurant for alone! We went twice!!

The chuleton and desserts were excellent. LTC salad (Lechuga, Tomate, Cebolla) is literally what it says so no complaints. The staff overall was quite friendly (the girl at the door and Daniel). 100% recommended.

Great food and especially incredible service ! Carrillo was our waiter and stayed an engaged waiter on our multiple visits to the restaurant. I have yet to experience better service at any restaurant. 😸👍 My vegetarian friend even broke her meat strike here👌😎

Just had dinner at this place which was great! Our party was made up of three children and four adults. The children were made to feel welcome and a children's menu was available. The staff were really friendly and the food, which was delicious, was delivered swiftly. Toilets were clean too! Very recommendable restaurant

We knew La Joguera was nominated for best cachopo last year. It was the first cachopo we had and it was amazing! I write this review after some more cachopo’s and I can definitely say this was by far the best we had. We shared the cachopo and we also had some croquettes, which were great as well. Highly recommend this place when you are in Cangas!

The food came in really quickly. It was delicious. I ordered escalopes with cabrales cheese and it was one of the best I had. The service was really nice and engaged in his work. The dessert (cheesecake) and the coffe were great as well. I definetly recoment visiting this place.

We were in a visit to the Cangas de Onís town and were attracted to this restaurant for lunch based on the relatively good reviews. However, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences. Very rude. We asked the gentleman (featured in one of the pictures) about how long it takes to get the order ready, just to set expectations and he replied by: it takes what it takes (tarda lo que tarda)!. He asked about what to drink, and we said glasses of water, which is customary in Spain and served on a complimentary basis, and he was not happy (he ended up bringing glasses of water though). We asked to replace one side by another, he said it is complicated! He kept giving us looks that made us feel uncomfortable. Another waitress was very nice though.

Very friendly staff and one of the waiters speaks good English. The Bean & clams soup homemade and very tasty. Also the marinade pork was tasty. Bit pricey when your on a budget, but have found this province alot more expensive.

This is a brilliant restaurant with a homely atmosphere and authentic food. The chorizo in cider is especially delicious, though service was slow.

We had lunch for 3. Unfortunately the steak was almost inedible. So much gristle it could not be eaten. The waisted saw how much steak had been uneaten and did not ask why.... Such a shame as it ruined a pod lunch.

I went for dinner. Amazing food!! I’ve lived in Madrid for 5 years but these croquettes were the best I’ve eaten (one with cheese and ham and the other with an Asturian cheese). The artichoke with the ragu was also exceptional, and of course, the fabada extremely tasty. The service was very friendly and efficient and the bill was less than I was expecting, so good value for money. I’ll be back

One of the best menus I’ve tried lately. The location is beautiful and besides the parking spots in front, they have a parking 100m past the restaurant. Amazing cachopo and fabada!

An absolutely must go restaurant in Asturias Local dishes with a modern flavour. This place will not upset anybody. They have a great selection of the typical dishes from Asturias with some additions of fusion cooking. The bread is excellent, meat is great and the cheeses are awesome. Prices are very adjusted, too, and the staff is very friendly.

This place is amazing. We ordered way too much as we didn't really understand how big the portions were going to be. Everything was well balanced and tasty, the Cachopo was the best I've ever had.

This place blew the doors down with amazement! Just what we needed after a day of hiking in the mountains...at first we were nervous, it might be a tourist locale, but to our excitement, we seemed like the only non-locals. Loads of truck/lorry drivers and general working class. Perfecto... On to the food, #CulinaryMarvels! The Fabada you ask? Fabuloso! Then there was the Cachopo! You gotta be kidding me how delicious this was!!! The photo doesn't do justice. This baby could have fed a sports team! The Asturians make Austrian Schnitzel look like child's play. If this was English football, Cachopo would have won the EPL and dominated the Champions League! The Schnitzel would have been like Sunderland FC...but never left League One. There was only one item missing with the Cachopo. A couch to lay down with my newly made Cachopo baby in my belly. The bottle of wine helped, but I needed a siesta mi amor...te amo Cachopo, siempre en mi corazón...

Excellent food and clearly a favorite of the locals! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Call ahead with a reservation or be prepared to wait a bit after you arrive - it’s worth the wait!!

Amazing. For 15 euros you get such great food, 1 bottle of wine and two of water. The Cabrito was incredible.

This place was packed with locals, we had to wait for the table around 30 mins but it was worth it. Local cuisine, great service good value. We had waiter Javi and he was just brilliant. Thank you for a great service.

This place was our introduction to Asturian food and it was great! Tasty seafood and cider.

Beautiful location. The drive through the gorge to get there even in low cloud was spectacular. Our room was on the first floor and very clean. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the glass roof of the restaurant below. We thought it might be noisy when we went to bed but it was absolutely fine. We slept very well and had a super sized bed. Our meal in the restaurant was okay. Breakfast was very nice. Excellent value.

Really ample portions. We had a starter (baked mushroom cheesecake) and Asturian cheese salad to share, plus dessert; delicious. The puddings we had were a bit disappointing, almond ice cream (ice crystals) and the toasted brioche (small). Really enjoyed the meal overall though, and good service.

We only tried the restaurant, not the hotel. The restaurant was certainly as good as expected by its great ratings. The fish was very fresh, home made croquettas very nice and the portions are more than enough, not to say big.... service is friendly and prices are certainly worth it. The food was pretty average. Nothing more of what you could expect from a touristy place. There are many other places in the surrounding towns that are way better than this place. If you can go somewhere else, please do. Asturias offered amazing places to eat and El Repelao is not one of them

A truly special place – absolutely worth a visit This restaurant is genuinely worth the trip. Set in an idyllic location, the surroundings add a magical touch to the experience. The interior is exquisitely decorated — every detail feels carefully chosen and beautifully executed. As for the food, each dish was absolutely delicious. You can really tell there’s passion and thought behind the menu. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a memorable dining experience.

Amazing venue, impeccably decorated and the food was amazing. However, the service is fairly typical of Spain (a bit rude/ uninterested in customers and in a rush to get you out). Our waitress had zero interest in exploring the menu or making sure we had a good experience, which is the only reason I would give this a 3. If not for the poor service, I would give this a 4 or 5. Also, the road there is quite treacherous so not for the faint of heart! Very narrow.

Went for lunch on a Sunday, make sure to book in advance as place is super busy. They made us wait a bit to get seated but apart from that everything was amazing. The menu was really good and quite a lot of food!

Even arriving an hour late (30 min after closing time), the restaurant staff graciously sat us down and even let us order the "longer" menu. Past a small village is another smaller village, up a hard to access road and then along a mountain stream filled w salmon is this heaven. From the moment I saw the flowers being cut this morning for that each table and met the team that took my reservation to my last bite late this afternoon - fabulous. The goat stew and the father bean with Bonito or my two favorite dishes, but every bite and every smiled delivered with every piece of bread were five stars. I had white wine with lunch, even even though they let me taste both - surprised to learn the wine was from Galicia. Thank you for a wonderful First experience with you. I can’t wait. Wait to come come back back.

Incredible cozy restaurant in the middle of the nature, surrounded by mountains. Super nice landscapes around. Amazing experience. The place it is super nice decorated and the staff was very helpful. We did't have a reservation, but they told us to wait if we want. And it was the best decision to wait, because the food was amazing. Traditional asturian food with a twist. The arroz con pitu was super good. Would definitely come back.

If you go, do not even dare to try their Vegan Cachopo. The worst dish i ever tasted nor seen. Its also 20e which is ridiculous and not worth it at all. I literally saw it and left it on the side. Waitress asked what the problem was and i said i did not like it. They still changed me full price. Very disappointing. I didn't even eat it

Great restaurant with a unbeliveable deal. Daily menu for only 18,50€ including drinks, pre- and maincourse and dessert. And it all tasted really great! The only thing ist that it took really long all in all (nearly 2 hours) but was a great experience. You need luck to get a table when you have no reservation in the rush hours.

The portions were very large and delicious, but I remember the service even more. I've never been greeted so warmly: the man who served us joked and tried to explain the dishes as clearly as possible, even though I don't speak spanish very well. I was happy to leave a twenty-euro tip.

«Restaurante El Palaciu Pintu» in Cangas de Onís is a very friendly restaurant. They cook delicious food and the restaurant is very cozy. The restaurant with a large terrace is also located on the most beautiful square of this nice city. You look out over the eponymous «Palaciu Pintu» and the beautiful facade of the «Iglesia de Santa María de la Asunción». But what I find most special is the warmth and friendliness of the owner and her staff. Nowhere else during our tour through Asturias were we welcomed so warmly and helped so nicely as in this restaurant. ¡Muchas gracias!

Good vegan food outside of Madrid and Barcelona is near impossible, but this tiny place has done it! I was dreading the fact that I'd have a rubbish bocadilllo, but the vegan and vegetarian menu is extensive and tries to stay true to the local cuisine. The young guy serving me was super polite and didn't pressure me to finish even though I was sat alone. Highly recommend the cachopo, it's full of vegetables and is so heavy I couldn't finish it.

Simply the best place in the Northern Spain for vegetarians, especially if you want to try veggie versions of traditional dishes. Both pote asturiano and tortos are to die for. Simplemente sabroso, el servicio más amable y buen rollo.

We arrived to this restaurant on Friday afternoon at around 14h, when we arrived, couple of tables were occupied, so we sat and ordered our food. Cachopo and tortos. I must say that the cachopo that costs me 26€ was not at all worth the prices. The meat seemed to be not fresh at all with a very strange taste. For the very first time I did not finish my meal due to strange (not normal) taste of the food. The fries also were not well cooked at all. By time the restaurant get even more crowded and the staff seem to be lost and very late in taking and delivering the orders. Overall not a good experience at all and not satisfied with the food neither with the service.

These Spaniards in the north country REALLY like their siesta time. Couldn’t find a restaurant in town (Canis de Onis) this afternoon that would serve more than drinks before 8:30p. I expected as much, but assumed there would be some exceptions. Poor planning/research on my part. We did manage to get a beer and a coke, but had great difficulty flagging down a waiter to take our money.

My “room” had a little open door for the spare parts room, like it was normal happen. My room was so hot and without ac that i barely could sleep. During the dining, the food was horrible, it took 1 hour to make 2 hamburgers and 5 sandwiches, then when one of the ladys ask for a scrambled eggs the waiter turned his back against us while shouting “the cuisine is closed”

Two stars is a honest and fair rating. They went up with the prices but that's not the reason for my bad rating. I think the menu is very mediocre compared to what you get else where. The fabada is okay, definitely nothing special, the rest of the dishes come nowadays with very badly made French fries. They used cooked potatoes once upon a time, but I think that's not what they go fore anymore. Friendly stuff, but somehow thinking that this is a hot spot for eating. Well, unfortunately it's not, anymore.

No chance this place reaches 4.6, more like 3.8 or 3.9 like the rest of the tourist traps on this road, mediocre food that goes straight from the freezer to the oven to the table with chips on the side, ordered rice with meat for first it was just about edible, second I had this pre cooked lamb that came in a clay dish sizzling in oil, the lamb was dry as hell, these people are aiming for volume sacrificing quality, I do give them a very good rating on the service and politeness. The thing that finally pushed me to this review is that we ordered coffee instead of desert and got charge extra 1.10€ for each coffee.

We just passed by chance and stopped for having breakfast. The tortilla de patata is very delicious and the waitress is very friendly. Also it’s a very kid-friendly place with a little playground near parking and a terraza for parents enjoying coffees meanwhile watching the kids playing. Nos ha gustado mucho.

Had a great meal with a large group of 11 people including many children. Staff was very accommodating and attentive. Normal meals is a menu of the day system with a first plate, second plate, drink and desert, but children are given the option of just having one of the plates (plus drink and desert) for a lower price. The fabada was solidly good, but our favorite dish was the lamb with fried potatoes featured in many of the pictures. Meatballs (albondigas) were also gobbled up by the children. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

We were there to have lunch. We ate a daily menu, which cost 15€ per capita and we received food galore, with an excellent quality, a great variety of traditional dishes and they treated us flawlessly. Would recommend it without a doubt!

In this restaurant you can choose the daily menu only, which is 13 euros including water and wine. We chose a more expensive Rioja for 10 euro. Quality of the food was acceptable for that price. We had a nice table outside with a view on the hills. People were very friendly.

The portions are large! The staff spoke mostly spanish, prices were more than reasonable. We took the rabo de toro, tortos de maiz and the ensalada de tomate. Everything was very good but we could not finish. *We came back a second time with experience and wisdom. The town is worth a walk to enjoy the oldy architecture, but there is nothing relevant about the restaurant itself: terrace faces the main road instead of the river behind (mistake?), and there is no highlight inside. It’s a very good restaurant, there is a daily menu that has really good food for a good price. There is a big menu to choose from. The portions are really big so be aware.

Expensive, small portions and poor service too. Tried the mixed cheese dish and they were bad cheeses. The lacon (ham) was poor. The croquetas where OK. Ordered three rice pudding dishes and two of theme where sour. There are other restaurants which are far better near by.

We managed to get a table during a busy lunch hour and were accommodated by a friendly waiter. However, on entering, we were repeatedly shoved aside by a waitress who clearly had no concern for guests trying to come in. The food was ok, but not well managed. Part of our order arrived after a wait, and the rest about 20 minutes later. To be fair, the waiter was clearly frustrated and was seen giving out to the kitchen staff about the delay - the issue was not on his end. We ordered 3 egg and chips (one with jamón), two bean dishes, a type of steak, and 3 desserts. We also had two bottles of cider (which we had to pour ourselves) and a beer. The total bill came to €170. No discount was offered for the extremely long wait, not even a chupito (small drink) by way of apology. Unfortunately, my dad, who doesn’t speak Spanish, paid the bill without telling me, so I didn’t get a chance to raise the issue with the staff before leaving. Overall, while the waiter was doing his best, the experience was very disappointing, and I absolutely would not recommend this place.

I don’t fully understand the other reviews, this was clearly a solid restaurant. We had a nice cheese plate, the local beans dish was great and the service was charming and swift and the portions big. However, it was quiet expensive compared to other options in the town and we were there very early and pretty much the only guests. So we had no other options due to siesta, but also they didn’t have many tables to handle - so maybe we got lucky.

This Highly-Rated Restaurant Is Totally Overrated with a Horrible Experience I came here full of expectations, but every single thing was such a letdown that I wanted to walk out right away! The signature Fabada was as salty as if someone dumped an entire salt shaker into it. One bite made my throat feel tight, and you couldn’t even taste the original flavor of the beans and meat at all. The Arroz I ordered had such a tiny portion—it didn’t even cover the bottom of the plate. It felt like it was gone as soon as I barely filled my stomach, and the cost-performance was ridiculously low. The most frustrating part was the service. The waiter had a cold face the whole time and never took the initiative to help. When I asked a question, I had to repeat it three times, but it was like they didn’t hear me. I couldn’t tell if they were hard of hearing or just didn’t want to provide service. I spent money just to put myself through this hassle, and I’ll never come back again!

Absolutely superb in every way. We arrived just in time for the Lunch and it was delicious. We were on route and so only stayed one night; the room was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Staff from check-in, Lunch waitresses, and evening bar staff were all polite, helpful and efficient - thank you all. Without hesitation i would recommend both this Hotel and Restaurant.

We visited from Washington, DC and stayed at Casa Morán and ate at the restaurant several times. The hotel is centrally located in town with close access to beautiful hiking, or shopping and beaches in nearby towns like Llanes. The rooms and common areas are very clean with plentiful open air and naturally lit spaces to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenes surrounding the town. The hotel was quiet, clean, very safe and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant: we ate several lunches and dinners at the restaurant and every single thing we ate was amazing quality and prepared perfectly! The fabada was delicious and as authentic as you can find! The cheeses, fish, beef and ribs were all incredible and the lamb (lunch) was phenomenal! Deserts, wine, coffee and bread were also delicious. You can’t go wrong here! It’s the perfect place to visit for an authentic experience without compromising on comfort and accommodation and everything was priced VERY reasonably. We will definitely visit again!

We had the good fortune to come here for dinner last night. Wow! What a great find. The food was the best we’ve tasted in Spain so far, and we’ve been here a couple of weeks. I had the local cheese for entree, which was beautifully presented and tasted sensational. My husband had the prawn dumplings, and he loved them. For main I had the salmon and he had the cod- both perfectly cooked and presented. We also ordered a mixed salad which was very generous. Add a bottle of wine, and a chocolate dessert to share, and we knew we were in heaven. Thanks to our patient waitress, Mencia, who helped us enormously with the translations, and the chef, Donita, whose culinary skills and presentation are outstanding. I thoroughly recommend.

The best place in town. Great value for your money. Typical dishes from Asturias at affordable prices. This is an excellent option to go with the family. The desserts are homemade and really tasty. The staff is very friendly, and they have good wines, so you can't help but coming here.

Great pizza, just takes a moment for the food to be ready we were a table of 8 so the food was brought out as it was made. Made for some very fresh and steaming pizza. The combinations of toppings on the menu are not conventional but great to try. The squid ink pasta was also delicious. Ordered the vegetal and removed the asparagus so the kitchen is flexible too.

Fantastic Italian restaurant in Cangas de Onís. We spent 5 days in this cute town and we discovered this Italian restaurant. So, we ate 3 times because the food was really good. The chef has a really nice touch with every single dish, the best garlic prawn ever. Very friendly service and really nice food. Quick service. 100% recommended!

Bottom line - if you arrived Congas de Onis and your heart goes to the Italian food - go straight there.

This restaurant turned out to be a huge disappointment. We were surprised by the number of empty tables when we arrived, especially compared to the other restaurants we had passed along the way. Still, the terrace had a gorgeous view of the Covadonga Sanctuary, so we assumed the emptiness was due to its proximity to the road, making it less appealing to some. However, we quickly learned that this wasn’t the only reason. The staff was not helpful in translating the menu or explaining what the dishes were. At first, the waiter gave the impression that he didn’t speak English, but when it came time to pay, it became clear that he actually spoke it quite well, which made us feel like he had been pretending not to, possibly to upsell us more easily. We (5people) ordered a few classics (Cachopo 2x, Fabada 1x) that we were familiar with, but unfortunately, there was no Wi-Fi and our phone signal didn’t work there, so we couldn’t look up any of the dishes ourselves either. The food arrived immediately, and unlike every other table, we weren’t even offered bread... which we later realized was complimentary for everyone else. The portions were quite small, and honestly, it was hard to even find any meat in the dishes. Nothing tasted terrible, but it was far from what we expected. We originally asked for wine, and the waiter asked (with two English words) if we wanted a “good one.” We said yes, trusting his recommendation, but he brought us the most expensive bottle on the list without ever showing us the wine menu or even mentioning the price. When the bill came, we were in shock: €170 for three small dishes, two desserts, and one bottle of wine. The wine was decent, but for €50? We would’ve absolutely passed if we had known in advance. To make things worse, the waiter kept slamming plates down on the table and showed no interest in providing even a basic level of service. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and we definitely do not recommend dining here. I'm a big cachopo fan and I went there to try the so called cachopo ganador (winner). The meat was very tender and precisely cooked but the chorizo stuffing was covering all its taste, making it difficult to distinguish and enjoy the quality of the local beef , cheese and jamon. This small chorizo detail was enough to disappoint me. I was expecting something more traditional. There are greater cachopos all around Asturias and Madrid.

We ordered the fabada, cachopo, and rice pudding and it was one of the best meals of the week! Very casual, lovely server… the cachopo was so good my daughter said she is only a vegetarian in England and will happily eat all meat in Spain 😆

Their arroz con leche ( rice pudding) is the best we have had in Spain so far. Delicious in every way and quite filling so keep some space for the deserts. Giving it 4 stars only because I personally would have loved to see fish dishes too on the menu - they had none. Overall good food, good service , lovely location. Enjoy!!

We visited for food only. Lovely spot, we sat outside where the staff cooked meat on the roadside grill and poured Sidra. Staff seemed a little overrun. A great spot to look up and see the sky filled with stars.

If you only speak limited Spanish, they charge you 2x the menu price for only having 2 starters. The waiter did not even attempt to explain. We‘ve been so excited to try the bean stew which is famous for this area, but this has ruined the experience. It’s not about the money but that it’s just not the right and honest behaviour.

Nice looking hotel with old style wooden design, good food in the restaurant, but every piece of furniture and constructions are making noise during the night that in addition with the noise of neighbours and road making sleeping there not so easy thing. If you like silence at night is not the place where you will find it.

Have visited this place 4 times, seems each time the quality of food goes down. Last visit will be my last, salad served with avocado basically mush, inedible. French fries served with meal were tough and cold, clearly made hours ahead. Beef ribs were inedible, extremely tough. Many other places with better quality.

We arrived at 6pm and they close at 8pm. The reason we chose the restaurant was because the meat is cooked over wood. We were rushed, the meat was just fried in a pan with too much oil, they were cleaning the floors with bleach whilst we were eating and to be honest the only ones that enjoyed the meal were my dogs who had my munite type steak that I took home!

After a visit to Covadonga, we stopped for lunch at this incredible traditional Asturian restaurant on the way home. The Asturian meat definitely has its unique and amazing flavor. When served on a stone, still cooking, with an extraordinary aroma amidst a landscape with the fresh scent of local nature, it makes for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

I was trapped alone in their lift for 30 minutes and they thought the emergency alarm was from a car alarm! Today, we have been turned down in a very rude way by the older waiter that we cannot eat there anymore (we were regulars, mind me). The same thing can be done in very different way. Perhaps politely and not making the guests feel very unwelcome? But this specific guy lacks good manners and professionalism. It felt very uncomfortable and unfriendly. We have given them a few tries, to be fair, after the change of ownership. But it’s just not good.
