Ursino Castle, a 13th-century fortress in Sicily, was built by Emperor Frederick II and remains remarkably well-preserved. The castle features all four original towers and walls, along with remnants of surrounding walls within its grounds. Visitors can explore the castle's interior to see the impressive Museo Civico, which houses royal archaeological collections, objects from a monastery, and painted carts.
It was built in the 1st half of the 13th century, intended to be used as a defensive bulwark - mainly from sea attacks. Today it is filled with bits and pieces of amazing history, art masterpieces, an area you can see restorative work on paintings. It is divided into four parts: archaeological, medieval, Renaissance, and modern, with the Benedictine and Biscari Museum collections front and center. I believe this is a must see when you visit Catania. There is a partial view of Mount Etna from the top of the castle walls. On the day we were there, they were getting ready for a concert that evening, so it looks like they host special events as well. Could have spent more time here - was wonderful.

Castello Ursino is a fascinating medieval fortress in Catania, Sicily, built in the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II. Surrounded by lava stone and rich in history, it now houses a museum with captivating art and archaeological exhibits. The mix of Norman architecture and volcanic surroundings makes it truly unique. A peaceful, historic spot that offers insight into Sicily’s complex past—definitely worth a visit when exploring Catania.
Dani B — Google review
Ursino Castle offers a rewarding blend of historical architecture and curated artifacts—ideal for those who appreciate medieval history and Sicilian culture. It’s especially suited to visitors seeking depth in a less crowded museum, but those expecting curated, modern exhibitions may find its layout and presentation modest
Chintan S — Google review
Great place to visit just before sunset, the colors work well with the site
Audrey V — Google review
Still closed, but even so the surrounding area and the outside are worth visiting. It’s almost all on volcanic rock and there are lizards, birds and wild cats all around the area. It’s a popular meeting point for tours and the area felt very safe.
Caïna V — Google review
Decent enough museum but the €6 entrance is honestly too steep. That said I enjoyed the meander around and the collection of artifacts on the ground floor. The second (first floor in the U.K.) is mostly paintings. It’s no Louvre but some are striking, such as Love and Death and the Sicilian Vespers. All captions are translated into English. Nice views of the city from the roof terrace. Have to agree that unfortunately bathrooms were gross 😷
Jennifer S — Google review
We visited Caravaggio paintings exposition and ticket lady proposed purchase also tickets to Ursino Castle for just 1 Euro more, so it was a no brainer. I think it's worth seeing and as you can see at the photos you will be able to see a lot of paintings, the whole interior of the castle and beautiful views from the top.
Dominik W — Google review
6€ per person to get in. Sort of boring to be honest, paintings and sculptures but I really wanted to see and learn about the castle. The outside and the middle part is the best. Only two vending machines on the top floor with a small seating area. Bathrooms were disgusting!

Greek - Roman theatre

Performing arts theater
The Greek - Roman theatre is a fascinating blend of ancient history and modern city life. The 3rd-century BC Ancient Greek theatre offers stunning views of the coast and hosts performances that bring its history to life. Meanwhile, the Teatro Romano di Catania showcases how the city has evolved over time, with modern buildings towering over an excavated Roman theater from the 300s BCE.
Protip: If you are in a group, have a single person buy all the tickets as the card reader transactions were exceptionally slow. A must-see for Catania visitors, unless you don't have the ability to climb stairs. This is just a few blocks from the center of town and has the archeological history going back to 600 BC with many layers of construction. The space is mostly without shade so an early morning or very late afternoon visit in dry weather is probably the best. Don't miss the Odean theater at the top level. Cats were lounging in the shade when we visited.
Chris P — Google review
Very cool place to come and see. Loads of cats just wondering around. Compared to other places in Catania, this museum is quite expensive especially as parts were closed when I went. However it is still well worth a visit. Be sure to check the route map first which is weirdly by the exit. I saw plenty of tourists missing parts as there is no clear route.
Guy H — Google review
Hidden in the middle of an old section of the city this piece of history is surprising and amazing. It is worth visiting to really feel the scale of the history of this space.
Adrian C — Google review
I visited the place late and there wasn't much daylight (November after 5pm), but on the other hand it turned out that the visit was free at that time. This place has a very interesting and unique vibe. In some ways it's different from other similar places I've visited.
Dimcho N — Google review
I really enjoyed exploring the Roman amphitheater and Greek Odeon. The site dates back to the 1st century AD. There was plenty of signage giving the history of the location and information about the restoration efforts. The theater was in remarkably good shape and I was able to explore the various tunnels and interior passageways. There were so many various nooks and crannies to explore and nothing was off-limits. The adjacent Odeon is smaller and didn’t hold up as well, but it was still amazing to see. This site is not overly crowded, so it almost feels like you have the whole place to yourself. I’d highly recommend a visit to this historical gem.
Frenite — Google review
It’s incredible that you can find such a treasure of archaeological significance tucked between the buildings of the city. Without the signs, it would be very easy to miss the entrance. The theatre itself is in excellent condition, and you can really sense its ancient majesty. I had never seen a Roman theatre with black tones before, which are caused by the use of lava stones. It’s a unique and striking detail. It’s truly surprising to see how this ancient Roman wonder has been used as the foundation for more modern houses, which now sit directly on top of it. The layers of history are visible all at once, and that contrast adds even more depth to the visit. What makes the experience even more special is the chance to see both the theatre and the odeon. It’s fascinating to observe the two separate structures and reflect on their different purposes. The theatre was used for comedies and dramas, while the odeon was intended for concerts. Overall, it’s a wonderful experience, and I definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Catania.
Andrea O — Google review
Worth a visit only cost us €4 each as we are under 25, the staff weren't very friendly at the front but its a very nice ruins with plenty to explore if you read and search through the whole place.

The Fountain of the Elephant in Catania is a significant landmark featuring a Roman statue of an elephant carved from basalt, serving as the symbol of the city. Situated at the heart of Piazza Duomo, it is surrounded by notable attractions such as Catania Cathedral and Via dei Cruciferi's Baroque buildings. The area offers a blend of historic architecture and picturesque views, creating a captivating atmosphere for visitors.
What a lively place! It is busy with performers, parties, and people walking around even into the early morning hours. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. It is lovely in the morning too when it's quiet. Our hotel was a few blocks away so every night we were in the Duomo area having dinner and people watching after a long day being tourists and exploring the surrounding areas.

Wonderful sight in the city square. I never knew about the elephant and what it symbolizes in Catania. Great shops here, plentey of restaurants, churches, loved seeing all the Christmas markets during December - they were everywhere here! See the elephant if you're in Catania, he's beautiful!
Theresa J — Google review
A sight I did not expect to see when visiting and walking around this town. There are a few references to elephants locally, this one being the most impressive. Right on the centre of the town square with the cathedral nearby.

A wonderful place set in historic surroundings. The atmosphere is both charming and authentic, giving you a real sense of the city’s heritage. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy the beauty of the architecture and the stories hidden in its walls. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history and culture

Majestic piazza, gorgeous art, with a beautiful bar where you can sit and enjoy a drink while admiring it all. We bisisted when there was a bit of construction, but the place was beautiful nonetheless. all around there are olaces to visit and eat/drink. the prices are very good. highly recommend it

A lovely bustling place to visit. Lots of people watching. Apparently there were mini elephants in Catania many many years ago which is why the statue is of an Ellie. You can stand at the start of road and have a view of Mount Etna.

Right in the middle next to Saint Agatha Church. La piazetta itself is nice with cute terraces where you can enjoy a cup of coffee. The monument is just a fountain but is nice because of the surroundings.

Teatro Massimo Bellini is a grand 19th-century theater adorned with intricate gold detailing, showcasing major operas and concerts. Dedicated to the renowned opera composer Vincenzo Bellini, this opulent Baroque venue offers public tours and hosts a diverse array of events throughout the year, including ballet, classical music, theater, and opera. Notably, it presents unique outdoor summer performances in Piazza Vincenzo Bellini against the backdrop of a beautiful square and fountain.
Super friendly staff all round who are willing to chat and get to know you a bit so they can give you good recommendations around town. The place its self is beautiful and gives any opera house in London a run for its money, in fact I believe it outdoes all of them as this place is so understated and the small entrance way gives birth to an even greater spectacle. So much history here I highly recommend going on the tour which can be in English or Italian or both Thanks

Fantastic baroque theatre that maintains its 19th century charm. In places it it dated but the 4 stories of loggias are spectacular. The acoustics are fantastic. If you have a chance, also visit the upstairs room that is spectucularly decorated with gold colored plaster ceilings, ornaments and pillars!

Fantastic symphony experience. Recommend getting tickets at the box office rather than online, better options. Beautiful and well maintained historic theater. Orchestra was fabulous and powerful with complex Mahler 5th. No breaks just like Mahler would expect.

Theatre Bellini is an amazing building! This classical building has been built to mark the Catania born composer Vincenzo Bellini. We couldn't see the inside sadly as there weren't any performances while we were visiting Catania in Sicily.

We took a NCL cruise from Venice to Portugal last year. One of the stops was Catania. We got off the ship and self guided our tour using google maps and my research. The Basilica Cattedrale di Sant'Agata is a prominent baroque cathedral located in the lively main square of Catania. Designed by Giovanni Vaccarini, its columned facade and domed roof dominate the Piazza del Duomo. The cathedral houses the tomb of composer Vincenzo Bellini and features original Norman apses and a fresco depicting Catania's submission to Mount Etna's eruption.
It is a mesmerising baroque masterpiece renowned for its imposing facade and serene interior, offering visitors a profound sense of tranquility and peace. Its architectural grandeur, a testament to the city's resilience after the 1693 earthquake, combines elements of Romanesque and Baroque styles, creating an atmosphere conducive to contemplation. The cathedral's spiritual ambiance is further enhanced by its rich history and the devotion it inspires in both locals and visitors. ⛪️ 🙏🇮🇹🥰

Austere baroque building. Its facade is the most exuberant part of the building. The grave of Bellini is an impressive site and obviously still loved by the locals given the flowers. The music line on the grave talks of the fire dying with his passing. The remnants of the Norman Basilica give an idea of the prior building’s grandeur, it is a great pity it did not survive (given also how beautiful other Norman buildings are) Well worth a short visit!

The Basilica Cattedrale di Sant’Agata is an extraordinary place of worship and a must-see for anyone passionate about culture, religion, and art. Rich in history, it stands as one of Catania’s most iconic landmarks. The cathedral is truly spectacular – both in its impressive exterior architecture and in the beauty and detail of its interior. A visit here leaves you with a deep sense of awe and appreciation for Sicily’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Andrei V — Google review
We visited this Cathedral early in the day, then came back that evening for a classical music event. This is a very special place with a deeply spiritual vibe. The marble work is exquisite and not overly ornate. This is a lovely, lovely place.

The Kathedrale Sant’Agata (Catania Cathedral) is a magnificent piece of architecture that anchors the Piazza del Duomo. The building itself is historically rich and absolutely beautiful, showcasing the striking Baroque style typical of the city. The surrounding garden area is also well-kept and provides a lovely, peaceful contrast to the busy piazza. Top Tip for Photographers: If you want to capture truly amazing pictures of the Cathedral and the piazza, I highly recommend visiting right before or during sunset. The light hitting the facade at that time is spectacular and creates unforgettable views. This is not just a place of worship, but a true architectural and photographic landmark in Catania.

Some cathedrals are beautifully painted with fresccos and adorned with gorgeous artefacts. This cathedral was almost simple but had grandeur instead. Absolutely magnificent and that made it beautiful. There catacombs under that I did not visit (3 euros). Beautiful cathedral.

Great market; more than just seafood. Would love to bring some home. All the feel of a fish market with the yelling, the fresh seafood smell and friendly service. Plenty of places to try the food as well. Not as big as Seoul, but worth a visit if in Catania.

S special place to visit in Catania. You don't have the possibility to see it everyday. An open place where the fishermen sell their fish. A very original one. And you don't pay anything and can taste grilled fish or seafood for little money.

The fish market in Catania is amazing! You can feel the local energy and see how fresh the fish are — straight from the sea. It’s a true Sicilian experience!

Wonderful place to wander around, listen to the chatter of people talking everything 'fish.' This is quite a sight - everything is so fresh, the men cutting and unloading and selling from the square. I loved the 'culture' of it and thinking about the history of fishing and selling, this wonderful way of life in Catania. Would love to go back again.

Sandwich shop
Dopo Teatro in Catania, Sicily is not your typical sandwich shop. It's more like a kebab shop, offering delicious and unique sandwiches with options like horse meat and Sicilian vegetables. The staff are friendly and accommodating, creating customized sandwiches with care. While the atmosphere may be a bit busy and the prices variable depending on toppings, the food and service are top-notch. It's a great spot for tasty takeaway panini that you won't want to miss when visiting Catania.
An amazing place to not miss! We are two very tasty sandwiches, we recommend it 100%!!! The staff are very sweet and nice people, they explained to us each plate and made for us an adapted sandwich with all that we love! If you are in Catania, you can’t miss that place

Went home, at midnight super hungry. I saw this place opened and decided to take it even through the bad reviews. I was so surprised. For 5€ they made me really good pita with meat and gave me inside what I wanted - it was a really lot of things! The meat was grilled and prepared infront of us on the grill and taste of everything was actually fresh and good. Even the fries had rlly nice taste. The place looks just like all the kebab stations so you cannot expect somehow restaurant-ish environment, but really, it was a nice surprise after all the bad reviews.

They're scammers, I ask is everything capable to get now from menu? They answered yes and I just ordered one thing and one beer, they try to scam me for 2euro missed real price. I told them that's not the price and guy changed it. I got one piece of pita with 2 meatballs inside and fries(inside) that's joke. For 5€ for this. Where's truffles? Where's pistachio??? Scammers scammers scammers!!!! WATCH OUT!!!

So I have been here to have warp kebab in the week days when it was less busy and it was fine. I went back Saturday night and it was quiete busy with most people coming out after clubbing /drinking a little drunk . The guy serving was really in a bad mood and not really cooking the meat properly. He seemed like he was rushing just to get the cash and get them out . In the end even some of the drunk guys realised and called him out asking him to put the meat back in the grill . Well too bad for him , I think I was the only sober person in there and I can assured you that most of the sandwiches he was making was with half raw meat. He did my wrap kebab using chicken breast this time , I was shocked . He “cooked the meat “ and made the whole wrap in not even in 20 seconds . Well when I left and tried to give it a bite , the chicken was so tender and raw pink in the inside . I binned it straight away. If you don’t want to get sick or get salmonella from here AVOID. Not to mention that if the guy will think you are drunk he won’t even cook the meat properly. That actually is what he concerned me the most that not only he is putting people in danger but he was taking the pissed off over drunken people thinking that they would not notice .

Agora Hostel, located in the heart of Catania, is not just a place to sleep but also a popular spot for locals to dine and drink. The hostel offers delicious food such as pizza and couscous, along with excellent cocktails at reasonable prices. It's known for its lively atmosphere, with regular music and performance events. Despite being in a quiet square, it's close to the 'Roman baths' and offers a welcoming environment.
Restaurant at Agora Hostel was phenomenal. 17 of us pre-booked. Lively table downstairs in the cave! Service was incredible. Food was delicious with generous portions. Wine list very good. Couldn’t fault them for quality and value for money. Really good night with family.

I’m glad to see others had a pleasant experience AT THE RESTAURANT. Mine was quite the contrary. The service is nothing special, and the food was watery and my 13€ of shrimp ravioli had three, one of which broke while cooking so it had no filling. The pesto was very watery. The house wine tastes like something from a plastic bottle (very dry) and PEOPLE SMOKE INSIDE! If you don’t like people smoking DO NOT GO HERE. AND 1€ for coperto, no bread, one measly paper napkin... Not recommended.

What a great place and a great team. As we were denied access to the H-otello bnb accross the street and left out without any help or response, because of late arrival (12 minutes due to traffic jam and luggage problems), this team welcomed us and offered all the help they could give. Access to the lounge, wifi, coffee to enable us to relocate. From what I understood they were the previous owners of H-otello but have nothing to do with them anymore. Thank you again for your kindness. Hope to meet on a next trip to Sicilia.

This is the best most authentic & delicious pastas I have ever had. I want to congratulate the chef & the waitress (mom & daughter) for serving the best pasta in the world. Thank you for this masterpiece. I am speechless.

Very nice trattoria with exzellent service. The place is always busy but we never had a problem to make a reservation or to get a table when just popping up. Food is delicious with a great choice of typical Sicilian dishes across pasta, fish and meat. We had the opportunity to thank and applaud the cook. She was very touched. Always would come here again.

Trattoria U Fucularu is a must-visit spot in Catania for authentic, high-quality Sicilian dishes. We were extremely impressed, and the service enhanced the entire experience! The Food Highlights: The Ravioli here are among the best I have ever tasted in Italy—perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. However, the true star was the Antipasti Rustic platter that my husband and I shared. This platter was loaded with different seasonal vegetable dishes including a delicious Caponata, amazing fried zucchini, and other local specialties. It was easily the best and most diverse vegetable platter we’ve had in a long time. My husband was also completely won over by the Parmigiana Melanzana. Excellent Service: The staff was very kind, and despite the restaurant being busy, our waiter took the time to chat with us. He was very informative and patiently explained the local dishes, even sharing why horse meat is a famous feature of Catania's cuisine. This personal touch and local knowledge made the meal memorable. For exceptional food and a genuine Sicilian dining experience in Catania, U Fucularu is highly recommended!

The food was amazing! The staff so helpful and gave great recommendations on what dishes to try. They also helped us fine a good bar to go to after our meal! 10/10

Good food but serving sizes could be a little bigger. Medium to high price for the region, pasta Norma and al Ragu around 13-14€. Very good house wine options.

One of the highest rated restaurants in Catania and it's rating is justified. No matter what you order you are going to be happy with your decision. Make reservations well in advance if you want to get a table at this fantastic restaurant

Sicilian restaurant
Italian restaurant
Trattoria da Mario, located on Via Crociferi, offers a taste of traditional local Catana cuisine. The restaurant is known for its antipasto, which includes a variety of dishes such as cheese, cold cuts, olives, and baked or pickled vegetables. For around 15 euros per person, guests can enjoy a generous serving of 10-12 starters followed by a main course and a drink.
Very good food - best place to try a lot of local food. And you get A LOT of it, almost impossible to eat it all, but the staff is very kind and offers to pack it as a takeaway. After antipasti, you can choose one of 5 kinds of meat - I took horse meat and it was great, really well made and I got a great side as a bonus (very tasty!). Really enjoyed the experience, the staff is very friendly and helpful (especially Michael, thank you for great service). Overall, a very nice experience if you like a fixed menu, a lot of sides, you can try lots of things local to Catania, and then enjoy a really well prepared meat.
Patryk K — Google review
Couldn’t recommend this enough. The food - you get so much you can’t possibly ate this all, and so much variety- cheeses, vegetables (favorites were the classic ricotta and champions). The service - really nice especially Miguel - they give you your time, no one’s rushing you even after paying the bill so you can sit and enjoy atmosphere after eating so much. Price - I can’t think of any place that you can try so much different dishes for such a low price(that also includes drinks - we choose water and red wine - minus for that you can only go with red, not white wine). Honestly - maybe a little touristy but definitely worth the money you spent there. (Also the service is so quick - you sat at the table and immediately have food there with drinks)
Wiktoria G — Google review
€20 each for the set menu, which consisted of an amazing selection of traditional, Sicilian starters followed by a beautifully cooked beef and horse filet steak (there are up to 5 different meat choices, pork etc) A whole litre of Red wine and bottle of water was also included in the €20 flat fee. Our server Michael was attentive and extremely personable, we were grateful to be looked after by him and everyone else. Highly would recommend coming here!
Aidan P — Google review
Had the €20 set menu. 3 courses. First is antipasti..that in itself is a vast array of dishes including caponata, buffalo mozzarella, rice and vegetables, all sorts of things. Second is a steak.Ibhad choice of Beef, Horse, Chicken or Sausage. Then for dessert it was a sorbet. Also included a large bottle of water and a drink.I had beer. I was alone, so this was an almost impossible challenge. Great food and a good atmosphere on a good street.
James C — Google review
A dining experience with a prix fixe menu, but certainly a few steps below fine dining. Bring a bag to take food home. One of the most popular places in Catania, famous for its horse meat, we had a table for four with a seating at 7 PM and found the place empty--but it filled up as we dined. The menu is fixed with a first course of a dozen dishes--eggplant parmigiana, grilled eggplant with cheese, french fries, olives, a rice and diced vegetable dish, sauteed mushrooms, broccoli, Spanish tortilla, mortadella, spicy salami, and four soft and hard cheeses with bread. Don't load up on this as there is a meat course with chicken skewers or pistachio rolled pork, pistachio rolled chicken, pork skewers and beef or horse steak. A dessert course comes at the end and by then I had to stop. Red wine was included (in a plastic bottle) and you could order drinks beyond this. Water was refilled as well. Price was 20 euro per person when we went and seemed to be a good deal. We took 5 boxes of leftovers home with us, so plan your future dining accordingly.
Chris P — Google review
Great affordable place. More food than one could ever eat. They have a 20€ set Menu including drinks.
Jakob H — Google review
Everything was delicious, served quickly, the service was very nice, the price was affordable, we had a great evening. We ordered set 20€ per person which included starters (various cheeses and cold cuts, bread, salad, grilled vegetables, frech fries, olives, lasagne), main course - one of 5 different types of meat, wine, cold drinks and a shot at the end. If we had stayed longer in Catania, we would definitely come back here. Highly recommend this nice place.

Castello Normanno - Svevo di Aci Castello is a ruined Norman stronghold perched on a dramatic seaside rock, offering exhibits on past battles and sieges. It's located in the serene town of Aci Castello, which is popular among tourists seeking relaxation in Sicily. The volcanic beach and picturesque surroundings make it an ideal getaway from the city chaos. While relatively small, the castle boasts centuries of history and offers a nice view of the sea and the city.
A Norman-castle in a well-kept, good condition with externally knowledgeable local staff & some interesting permanent exhibition. A great start in the morning (only open til 12:30)
Imola D — Google review
Lovely little castle on the coast. Only 3-4€ to get in. Fantastic views along the coast and of Mount Etna, little museum with the history of the architecture, small garden area and lots of quirky steps and rooms. Lots of steps up to the castle so not accessible to all.
REBECCA G — Google review
The place is amazing, with a beautiful view and a great atmosphere. It gives off very good vibes. However, there's not much to see — mainly empty rooms and a balcony overlooking the stunning sea.

almost didn't enter, but it was raining and thought what the hell. turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip to Catania, not least thanks to the very charming, knowledgeable, funny and kind attendant. he set the mood and made the rest of the visit even more enjoyable. inside, there are some plants (a quite tiny botanical garden), some very interesting and beautiful crystals and rock samples, some bones and fossils, and from the castle's terrace the view was itself worth the 3.50 euros entrance. or should i say the attendant was himself worth the entrance?

Lungomare di Acicastello, also known as Lungomare Scardamiano, is a charming coastal road that connects and separates two villages. Along this scenic route, you'll find quaint homes, holiday rentals, hidden sunbathing spots on the rocks, cozy restaurants, and lively late-night venues. The approximately 1-kilometer walk offers stunning views of Aci Castello and provides access to temporary and permanent lidos for seaside relaxation.

There are several lidos in this area. You can choose one that suits you. Some play loud music, others are more peaceful. We got a sunshade and two loungers for 15€ for a day. It was really relaxing with a good entrance to the sea. (It's rocky there, so the lidos are raised up on a wooden terrace, then there are steps down to the sea. Good place for snorkling.

Al Tortellino is a popular spot in Catania known for its homemade pasta and casual, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of Sicilian classics such as pasta alla norma and gnocchi with buffalo mozzarella, all made with fresh eggs and high-quality ingredients. In addition to pasta, they also serve pizza, panini sandwiches, salads, and fish dishes at affordable prices. Visitors rave about the delicious ragu and the excellent service provided by the staff.

Chatgbt recommended us this place. We paid 28.5 Eur for 2 pasta, 2 fanta, 2 Cappuccino and a bread basket, which I find it really good. I ate Rigatini Pesce Spade e Melanzane and my husband Spaghetti all‘ Amatriciana. Good food with good prices. Worth to try!

The kindness of the chef and the pizza’s choices were really great as well as the prices. And frozen beer mugs really hit the spot! Looking forward to come back!
Krzysztof M — Google review
Very good pizze with taste and huge quantities for few bucks! The pasta was a little two soft and not enough baked and floured like I like it. But tasted great anyway. One pizza is enough for two "normal" appetites. The restaurant is fast food look alike but it is a good pizzeria. We took a Calzone and a normal one and the size was impressive. We took the leftover in a box for the next day (half of each). Go there is you want a huge pizza for great money without cosy and nice decorated room. Could be good for group.

Scardaci Ice Café in Catania is a charming spot known for its delectable gelatos, sorbets, and Italian desserts. One of their popular offerings is the Etna gelato, a delightful blend of pistachio and almond flavors served with sweet cannolis. The café offers a variety of ice cream flavors to indulge in. While some visitors found the pricing confusing, others were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of their treats.
Very tasty gelato! I also recommend the ice coffee which is cold and a little sweetened.

After dinner, we walked over to Scardaci Ice Cafè. 24 flavours of ice cream and 15 flavours of granita. Scoops are 3,50€ (classica) to 6,50€ (maxi). 10% extra for table service. - Granita (3,30€) - fico d’india (prickly pear) and arancia rossa (blood orange). Prickly pear was decent, blood orange a touch bitter

We came here every day during our trip, and it quickly became our favorite spot in town. The pastries are perfection—fresh, flaky, and full of flavor, with that unmistakable Italian touch. Whether it’s a classic cornetto or something new to try, everything tastes like it was made with care. The staff are always welcoming, making us feel like locals. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Italian pastries.
Dani D — Google review
I had a wonderful, restorative stop at Scardaci Ice Caffè after a long guided tour. The location is exceptional and the atmosphere truly feels like a slice of authentic Italy. The interior features an old, characterful wall that hints at the city’s long history — a small detail that makes the place feel special and timeless. I ordered an arancino, which was the best I’ve had so far — perfectly seasoned and delicious — and an espresso that was wonderfully aromatic. Both were excellent and felt very fresh. Scardaci is clearly a go-to spot for classic Sicilian treats. Overall, a superb little discovery: great food, great coffee, and a genuine sense of place. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Catania.

Great little cafe which serves fabulous desserts located in the main shopping area of Catania. The cannolis and the sweets I had was great (see pictures…not sure what they are called). There are also many restaurants on this street…my recommendation…do not have dessert at the restaurant. Have dinner there and come to this place for dessert.

Nestled in the charming Piazza with a stunning backdrop of Acicastello Castle, Pizzeria Blanca Bistrot&pizza is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of Sicilian hospitality. The atmosphere is vibrant, filled with locals enjoying their day, which adds to the inviting ambiance. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and accommodating; they even went out of their way to prepare gluten-free pasta for guests with dietary restrictions.
Stopped for lunch, out of season, perfect spot. Glass of wine and generous servings. I had the Parma ham and buffalo mozzarella, followed by spaghetti vongole (clams). Great value, very tasty. Recommend.
Michael N — Google review
We had visited the castle a few days before and knew we wanted to come back to the Piazza to visit a restaurant. When we arrived in town, we were drawn to Blanca as there were people already seated, and the vibe in the Piazza was great with locals walking dogs and kids playing. The view of the floodlit castle was also impressive. The staff here are all lovely and friendly. The lady who served us was thrilled to hear we were English so she could practice her speaking. Frankly, she speaks better English than a lot of English people and was charming with it. We had soft drinks, and my son had fried pizza, which is a calzone but fried! We likened it to a savoury doughnut - delicious! I had the tortellini which was just the right sized portion. We also asked for bread and were pleasantly surprised to get a pizza base brushed with what I think was rosemary butter. For the two second courses, bread, 3 drinks and a bottle of water we paid 53€ which I think was great value. Most certainly recommend.
REBECCA G — Google review
Service charge per person 2.5euro. Asked to replace speck with zuccini on a pizza, they charged 2.5euro for that. Pizza topping was falling off. I think they saw us as tourista and decided we will not pay attention to quality. Staff was fine. Maybe the cheff had a bad day. But be ready.

Delicious pasta alla norma, with eggplants fired just seconds before serving! Generous glass of wine, one of the best we had in the Catania area! Coperto's price little high.
Chiara Z — Google review
Good place to have a drink or get something to eat. Ideally located. I had Carbonara, it was good. Service was ok. I think there’s a mistake on the prices of Coronas - written 4€ we paid 5€.
Alexandre E — Google review
What a bad show by the managing waitress. First we hear her going on a screaming tirade to the waitresses below her on a visit to the bathroom (we were sitting outside), and then when this younger (visibly stressed out) waiter spills his drinks over other guests she has the attitude of laughing at at this poor guy (instead of coming to the rescue and offering a good service to the customers). After this, she even went of a full on screaming session to a passer-by who did a single blow on a toy trumpet next to the terrace. Sadly, when the food arrived, it was also sub-par. 22 euros for an incredible small pasta with frozen pre-cut vegetables... 16 euros for a pasta with store-bought tortellini's... I do not recommend.

I had a quite despicable experience at this place last summer. I went twice. the first time the pizza was decent but not extraordinary as reviews say. The second time I went with a group of friends and it was really bad. We waited 40 minutes for the order to be taken and then one extra hour to be served several low standard pizzas. Restaurant
Trattoria di De Fiore, also known as Nuova Trattoria del Forestiero and Mamma Rosanna, is a renowned restaurant in Catania that has been serving authentic Sicilian cuisine since 1962. The owner, Mamma Rosanna, still personally prepares her signature homemade maccheroni every day. One of the highlights is the Casarecce alla Norma, a Sicilian pasta dish prepared by chef Rosanna using her great grandmother's recipe.
We ordered the mixed antipasto plate and pasta allá norma. The pasta had incredible flavour and was absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Good menu, nice choice of vegetarian meals, I struggled to find anywhere in Sicily that caters to vegans so I compromise. Massimo, who I believe is the owner is very welcoming and friendly. I had an antipasto dish the 1st time I went and pasta second time round, and they do beers by the bottle small and large. Very reasonably priced, average cost of the pasta dishes were around €8 -€12. I definitely recommend this place if you happen to be in Palermo.
Carmela P — Google review
Food was very tasty and fairly priced but very small portions. Also, many options listed on the menu were not available. Service was exceptionally SLOW (1h 30min to get from from ordering. Would NOT recommend if you are hungry!!!

Terrible! More than 35 minutes of waiting to eat some raw casadieri with a supposed carbonara that was nothing more than a scrambled egg with pancetta and a lot of salt and pepper. To finish, they kept us waiting another 10 minutes to pay, because we couldn't go to the counter ourselves, the person who served the whole place alone had to come (thank goodness there were only six of us). The joke, the worst 28 euros of the whole trip to Catania. Don't go if you are in a hurry, hungry and even less if you are in the mood for tasty pasta and good service. Not to return!
Marta E — Google review
I came with a friend. My pasta norma was passable but my friends carbonara was frankly an embarrassment for italian food. It was basically scrambled egg on pasta shells

Hidden Champ Restaurant - Don't let the quiet atmosphere fool you! This charming Sicilian family-run restaurant is a true gem. While they may not always have everything on the menu available, what they do serve is exceptional. Their vegan pasta options are fantastic - the pasta pomodoro and norma are absolutely incredible. The prices are remarkably reasonable for such high-quality pasta, especially considering it's located right around the corner from much pricier hipster establishments. The family who runs it is genuinely lovely, and despite the relaxed, uncrowded setting, the food quality is outstanding. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for authentic, delicious pasta without the fancy restaurant markup!

Food is random, just ok. Salty, not tasty, too boiled. House wine was terrible quality. Service is not very friendly. Prices are a bit higher than nearby restaurants that offer quite better food and wine. Le Muse Ristorante Pizzeria offers a pleasant setting with an attractive seaside location. While the cuisine is average, guests can enjoy a magnificent ocean view if they make reservations in advance. The prices may be slightly higher, but this is subjective to personal taste preferences. We were there on May 27, we sat upstairs, the 3 male servers were very rude. Was it because we are American? Not sure but they got mad when we disputed a bottle of €3,00 Coke we ordered but never received, and they charged us €12,00 coperto, which was RIDICULOUS, consideringthe amount of the total bill. Aso, calamari was great texture but it was super over-the-top salty. My steak was tasty but was so tough to chew I took it to go and fed it to a cat that was sitting on our car. Getting a bad meal at any restaurant in Sicily is rare, but I wouldn't return to this restaurant. I used to live in Aci Trezza so I had never encountered any rudeness by anyone working in any restaurant, and I speak Italian so not sure what the issue was but i would walk by next time.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Aci Trezza. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Absolutely the best. Highly recommend and heads up to the waiter Gianluca!! Looking forward for our next visit!

Nice Location, Average Food. Great sea view for those who book in advance. Prices are a bit higher versus food taste but i guess it depends. Friendly staff. Clean bathroom which is actually a huge plus. Would recommend! 😁

The food is okey, the prices are average, the view is awesome. But the "coperto" charge afterwards 3eur per person leaves you with the taste of vomit in your mouth afterwards.

For day 3, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Orto Botanico di Catania, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Eat Pizzeria. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

The Orto Botanico di Catania, also known as the Botanical Gardens of Catania, is a lush sanctuary located within the city. Managed by the University of Catania, this botanical garden serves as a living exhibition of plant diversity from various regions across the globe. Visitors can explore different recreated habitats, ranging from tropical rainforests to Mediterranean landscapes, each carefully designed to support an array of plant species.
I visited the gardens today and it was a respite from the heat and noise just beyond the gates. As I walked around I didn’t see any benches to sit on but another reviewer mentioned a bench; I must have missed it. It was so lush that it cooled to whole area. I went in to the conservatory and some of the plants were suffering a little bit from the heat. I liked their hummingbird installation at the end of the main path neat all of the stairs with columns. Also, there are very nice restrooms around to the right of this main building past the fountain. I love that they keep this part of the city clean and maintained nicely. It is a lovely showplace.

It's a very beautiful place, we saw a lot of beautiful plants and flowers here. I especially liked the cactus part, there were huge cacti and some were even in bloom. We spent about 3 hours here before we went around. There were no crowds, there were barely a few people during the day on a weekday.
Ramóna V — Google review
Lovely gardens to stop by and explore, not as well maintained as they could be but in the Sicilia heat that is difficult. Best place to hear and see birds in the city too. Fantastic collection of Cactus and plants from all over the world. FREE to enter with a free map at the entrance. Closes 13:00-15:00
REBECCA G — Google review
this was a wonderful surprise in Catania. not the biggest botanical garden I've ever seen, but it's free, all plants have tags with the Latin name so you can easily get more info on them online if you're curious, there's a greenhouse and it doesn't seem to be overcrowded.
Militon S — Google review
Just a few blocks up the hill from the CBD, this cozy and small botanical garden was perfect for a morning stroll. It was free and the monitor inside the gate confirmed this, so more than worth the money. The grounds were not carefully manicured for our late summer visit, so crunching through the leaves on the gravel paths added a soundscape to the view. Cats were at every turn and a few of them were friendly enough for a quick petting session. The greenhouse had a more humid version of the climate and the cactus on the backside of the main columned building felt like another warmer and dryer climate. An art display with 3d printed hummingbirds called on us each to do our part (super individualistic perspective and discounts the value of institutions...but the sociologists in your party might not be as triggered as ours were).

Located in the city of Catania this place is beautiful and very peaceful place to take a nice nature stroll, at times you forget you’re in the city. Bring bug spray because they definitely have mosquitoes 🦟 and some chiggers, but other than that it was very beautiful and to top it off was free!

Relatively small but an interesting garden with a variety of exotic species, well sign-posted. Good shade from mature trees. Be mindful of the opening hours.

Monastero dei Benedettini di San Nicolò l'Arena is a historic monastery located in the center of Catania, Italy. It is one of the largest monasteries in Europe and now houses the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Catania. Visitors can explore this architectural gem and learn about the life of Benedictine monks through guided tours. The monastery's grandeur and historical significance make it a must-see attraction when visiting Catania.
We did a self-guided tour through the Monastery as at the time we have arrived here (4:30pm) there was seemingly no ticket counter or a tour guide, so we just walked in. You can easily spend hours in this magnificent place just getting lost in the various hidden corners, gardens and intricate corridors and halls. The Monastery is used nowadays by the University of Catania hence you can see a lot of students, with many of the rooms converted to lecture halls. Some of them, including the library, are really impressive. Everyone here seems to be used to tourist visits so no is looking at you strangely. Towering above the Monastery is the impressive dome of the adjacent Saint Nicolas church, so don't forget to visit it as well. Overall, this was an interesting and insightful experience despite not benefitting from a detailed guided tour.

The Benedictine Monastery in Catania is a very special and well maintained piece of history in Catania. I took a group of Americans from my yoga retreat here as part of a cultural excursion to Catania and it was absolutely fabulous. The tour was about an hour long and covered so much history and interesting parts of the property to explore. Our english speaking guide was so passionate and enthusiastic about the history he was sharing with us. He invited questions from the group through out our experience and he was a fountain of information and knowledge. I would recommend this tour to history buffs and skeptics alike.
Sharon M — Google review
We really enjoyed our guided visit to the Monastero dei Benedettini (10€). It was fascinating to walk through 2000 years of history, and it’s truly remarkable that such a historic place is now home to a university. It’s one of the most beautiful university campuses I’ve ever seen !
A G — Google review
We accidentally stumbled across the monastery whilst sightseeing in Catania and managed to join a guided tour. The monastery blew us away and the guide was amazing. Being able to see the evolution of the site from its Roman beginnings in the basement library to the various rebuilding of the earthquakes and eruptions of Etna was fascinating. Of all the churches and sites in Catania, I’d put this on the top of the list.
Anthony N — Google review
A tour guide is definitely necessary here. Our tour guide Nicola was so funny and informative. You got all kinds of funny stories and history about this place from 2nd century AD to current time. We even got into the usually not open area thanks to our guide. (Also this museum shop has the best designed souvenirs I have seen so far in Sicily)
L C — Google review
One of the largest monastery in Europe, full of interesting historical sites and ancient ruins; make sure to visit along with a guide; there is 1 every hour and the whole tour takes around 1:20 hours and it’s really worth it.

You can't judge a book by its cover nor can you judge this magnificent monastery but the outside. Once inside of this church that is for the monks of the order it is unbelievably beautiful. I highly recommend visiting it if you come to Catania.

Porta Uzeda, named after the duke of Uzeda, was built in 1696 as a city gate to honor the Viceroy. It connects the Seminario dei Chierici with the Cathedral and is located near the Basilica and a city park. The gate offers good views from its terrace over Piazza del Duomo and the port area. Visitors can also access it by getting a ticket to the Diocesan Museum first.
It's a city gate of a more modern variety. It was built after the big earthquake in the 17th. cent. Good views from the terrace on top over the Piazza del Duomo on one side and the port area on the other. But one has to get a ticket to the Diocesan Museum first to be able to get up there.

Beautiful space to see in the main city Square near the Basilica, and if you pass through it you get in front of city Park. And behind that city park is one of the bus stations. It’s not overcrowded. There are a lot of pickpockets here. It’s also nice place to buy souvenirs but buy them early morning or middle of the day because at the night they get the prices double time higher.

Nice! Outside the gate it is a beautiful small park with mediteranean plants and the alleys of the park are very well decorated using an unussual technique, a lot of small stones are attached and there are inserted some models, like a mozaic.

Nuova Trattoria del Forestiero is a charming restaurant located just 5 minutes from the University of Catania, offering authentic and affordable Italian cuisine. The owner and cook, Signora Rosanna De Fiore, has been serving her great-grandmother's recipes for over 50 years, with the pasta alla Norma being a standout dish. The restaurant exudes a homely atmosphere where guests can enjoy traditional Sicilian culinary treasures prepared by the 75-year-old chef.
Pasta alla norma, arrabiata, and the mixed platter were all very delicious. Definitely an old school home-cooked style of restaurant with very attentive and friendly staff! Oh. And the homemade Tiramisù... the best I've had on this trip so far! Molto bene!
Gabriel P — Google review
While I really appreciated the warmth and hospitality of the host—an old lady who I believe is the cook at 1962 Restaurant—I found the food to be just average. The flavors didn’t quite meet my expectations, though I should note that I’m not Italian and may not fully appreciate the nuances of the cuisine. That said, I truly valued the honest approach of the restaurant in clearly stating that there are limited options for meat and seafood. It reassures me that the food served is extremely fresh, which is a big plus. Overall, a cozy and genuine place, but the taste didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally.
Rupika — Google review
Our experience was quite nice in this restaurant, on the contrary some of the comments here which almost made us not to visit here. We ordered Caserecci Zucca and Norma & 2 glasses of wine / red wine and a mix salad on the side, all were quite nice and good portion wise. Waiter wanted cash payment which is fine and acceptable. I highly recommend.
Ege Y — Google review
I visited in 2024 and 2017. The restaurant was better in the past. The quality and selection are good. But the prices have increased too much, and the service and atmosphere are not great. The freshness is also questionable. It was also rude to instruct us to go to an ATM to pay cash; when the card machine is working fine.
Gereon N — Google review
We had wonderful dinner here yesterday with pasta alla norma and one with artichoke. Both were very nice, i'd say that alla norma had a bit more interesting palette but it was expected. We also ordered a horse steak that was quite thin and veal rolls 'alla Rosanna', both delicious even though i'd prefer a bit less vinegar on my steak. House wine was light and easy and made a good company to the food. Unfortunately we didnt have any more space for desserts in our bellies, otherwise I'd definitely try their tiramisu. Waiting time for our order was around 15 minutes, very reasonable for home made pasta. But we were quite early for dinner as per Italian standards, the restaurant kept getting fuller by the time we finished our course around 9pm. I feel a lot of bad reviews here come from wrong expectations. It is a family run traditional Sicilian trattoria with food cooked by your Italian Mamma. It is cozy, warm and attentive. It is NOT an instagram like serving or a michelin star experience with a €100 price pp. you come here for authenticity and soul and experience of local life. Overall we had a very nice experience here and will definitely recommend this place to my friends
Anastasia G — Google review
homemade sicilian specialities prepared by the owner‘s mother. Everything we tried was very delicious and fresh. The pasta alla norma is a must!
Haneen A — Google review
Sorry to say that the pasta alla norma here was disappointing here compared to other preparations in Catania. The style of the dish was cool, but the larger pieces of eggplant weren't our preference and the sauce and cheese didn't stand out. The wait time is long but I don't fault them too much as it's one nonna cooking to my knowledge.

Located in the heart of the city, Eat Pizzeria offers a wide selection of over 50 wood-fired pizzas with a focus on perfecting light and fragrant pizza dough made from durum and soft wheat flour. The menu includes traditional Eastern Sicilian pizzolia round, stuffed pizza with closed edges, as well as sfusatelli, Sicilian panini. In addition to classic and creative variations of artisanal pizzas, they also provide gluten-free and vegan options.
Delicious pizzas! Some of the best I’ve ever eaten, very fresh and almost not burnt at all unlike many others! Was a bit of a wait but that makes sense when the place is busy. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was loud and energetic. Absolutely would come back! My Italian partner said it was very authentic and deeply enjoyed their food.

I had a wonderful experience at Eat Pizzeria. I ordered the star pizza and the cheesecake, and they were both excellent. The pizza was crispy and cheesy, and the cheesecake was creamy and smooth. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and lively. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves pizza and desserts. Eat Pizzeria is one of the best restaurants in Catania!👍

Great pizza, somewhere between a neapolitan and a "regular" one, with a ton of various compositions and the ability to add any of the available ingredients onto your pizza. Also, a fun option to stuff the crust with ricotta or philadelphia. It was a bit loud when we were dining there, because the tables outside are basically standing on the street.

Edit: First time review: Good pizza and great service. Loved the stuffed crust with cheese. Second time review: This is now our number one pizza place in Catania. Super attentive service, great beer and excellent Gorgonzola and Tropeu pizza. We met Giuseppe the owner when we were paying and not only did he give us a 2€ discount but offered us an ice cold Lemoncello before we left. Looking forward to coming again.

The best pizzeria we came across during our holidays in Sicily. Let me start with the fact that during our two-week stay we were there three times !!! We couldn't help ourselves. I would order any of the pizzas I ordered again. Each one. Pizzas from Eat Pizzeria had delicious, unique dough and the highest quality ingredients. No matter if it was pizza or pizzoli, each one contained a lot of extremely tasty ingredients. As well as my wife and child, we could eat every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even for dessert. We tried nine pizzas (including pizzoli pistcchiosa, pizzoli svizioso, capricciosa, diavola, parmigiana, americana - yes, pizza with chips - brilliant). I can't judge which was the best as they were all delicious. Delicious panna cotta. Great prices and service. I recommend. If you want to eat great pizza, you don't need to look for another restaurant. For me - 6⭐️

The broccoli and cauliflower scacciata and the baked Margherita are good; for lunch they prepare legumes cooked in the earthenware pot and various side dishes. Wide choice of baked desserts. They also sell bread, the semolina bread re-milled only once is very good. Friendly staff, shop with matching decor.

"Il Covo Marino" is a remarkable restaurant located in Sicily, offering an exceptional dining experience. The mixed starter antipasto and seafood spaghetti are highly praised for their quality and generous portions. Guests also rave about the excellent wine selection and the must-try olive oil available on the table. The service is described as professional, genuine, friendly, and caring. Even for those with seafood allergies, the restaurant offers amazing alternatives that are great value and substantial in size.
It’s my first night in Catania with my parents and this was truly the most amazing dining experience I had in my 1 week of stay in Italy. Everything is just great from service to food to atmosphere. Staff was super friendly and caring too! Highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a good restaurant in Catania 😊 if I could give a 100/10, I would 🤩🙌🏻🙌🏻 We ordered: - Codfish Tempura in Thai sauce - Linguine with Sea Urchin and Tuna roe - Seafood Risotto - Tiramisu P. S. The seafood is fresh

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our wedding dinner at Il Covo Marino in Acitrezza, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we began planning, Emanuele, the manager, impressed us with his professionalism, flexibility, and genuine care. He listened to our vision and helped us design an evening that was both elegant and personal. The service led by Giuseppe, the maître, was flawless, discreet yet attentive, warm, and impeccably timed. He and his team made every guest feel welcome and looked after, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere throughout the night. Then came the food. Chef Fabrizio delivered a masterclass in modern Sicilian cuisine, with dishes that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. Every course showcased high-quality ingredients, traditional flavours, and a creative, contemporary touch. Thevrisotto with scampi was spot on however the highlight of the menu was the handmade ravioli filled with burrata, served with a delicate quenelle of red prawn tartare from Mazara del Vallo with rosted Avola's almonds, a dish that perfectly captured the balance between richness and freshness, tradition and innovation. The texture and flavour of the prawn were extraordinary, and the dish left a lasting impression on all of our guests. From the exquisite seafood starters to the perfectly cooked fish mains, and the beautifully plated mix of sicilian desserts including mini cannolo, every bite was a celebration of culinary artistry. The wine pairing was also exceptional, highlighting some of the best local vineyards from the Etna region and complementing each dish beautifully. Il Covo Marino offered more than just a meal, it gave us a truly special experience, delivered with authenticity, warmth, and elegance. Our guests are still talking about it, and we will forever be grateful to Emanuele, Giuseppe, Fabrizio, and the whole team for making our wedding dinner so magical. Highly recommended for any special occasion or simply for anyone who wants to experience the true essence of Sicilian fine dining.

We wish we’d gone here on our first night as this was the best fish and most authentic host we experienced during our stay - and we had some amazing food throughout! The staff cannot do enough, not pushy at all but keen to suggest and advice, cater for allergies and genuinely want you to have a wonderful experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. Wish we had time for another meal!

Went here with the Mrs tonight, the place is in a great location overlooking the marina - the staff were attentive. Ordered the prawns to start and they came raw - it's a local delicacy and we weren't to know but the staff were great when we said we didn't want them, as we don't eat raw prawns in the UK. They did not charge us for them ,which was kind as they didn't have to do that. So we had the fish lasagne and the ravioli with aubergine and veg, both delicious. This is a lovely restaurant with great views, great seafood and lovely staff. Cost for two great mains, 4 cokes just 40 euros. Go try them. Recommended

Sicilia's Cafe de Mar is a chic and modern restaurant located along the seawalk at Aci Trezza, offering a perfect setting to enjoy traditional Sicilian dishes and refreshing Aperol spritz. The venue features comfortable outside seating with a view of the sea, as well as an elegant interior for those seeking shade. Visitors can witness remarkable sunsets over the Ionian inlet while sipping on drinks like spritz.

Stayed next door at the Grand Hotel Faraglioni. Their Michelin restaurant was way too expensive & only open indoors that night. We went here instead for a late dinner 8:40pm on Friday Sept.13/24. Chose table on the terrace w/ seafront view & were served by Antonio, Roberta & a younger man whose name I forgot. The younger man was clearly expert at taking tourist photos as the ones he took of us were perfectly lit & showed the Cyclops rocks, the moon & the moon’s reflection on the sea! Ordered arugula/ rocket salad, grilled seafood platter (grilled octopus, large shrimps, swordfish) & seafood linguini with a bottle of Sicilian red wine & Amara d’Arancia on ice with the most fragrant orange rind garnish for use as a stir stick (2 each). All fresh & delicious! Simple flavours. Add your own olive oil & balsamic vinegar to the salad & grilled seafood for more flavour as we did. The view is the best in Aci Trezza directly across the little street from the sea, nightlit Cyclops rocks (Faraglioni), under the moonlight, with a view of the also nightlit Aci Castello (Norman Castle). A guitar playing busker was playing music across the street. He was excellent!!! It made for such a romantic setting all around! There were mostly Italian customers — families of all ages dining, younger couples on a date (drinks & dessert) — & some tourists like us. We preferred sitting on the breezy outdoor terrace right in front facing the sea. They had an indoor Air-conditioned dining area also with Seaview from floor to ceiling windows. Or you can sit beside the small pool @ the back near the bar (this must be popular during the day in the hot summer!). We had such a lovely experience that we went back for lunch on our last day a week later. That was not as good an experience due to different young staff & limited menu. See our other review. Note: the table & chairs are plastic so sitting for long periods may be uncomfortable but we found it fine for 2hours.

Beautifully located bar in Aci Trezza that offers a breathtaking look at the sea. At first seems to be more of a trend bar, offering plastic caps for water etc. But as soon as I ordered primo è secondo piatti, it revealed itself to be a great dining experience (including a proper glas for the water I ordered before)—keep in mind, of course, that it's a good sign to see mostly locals at a spot. Ate the Tagliolino for primo, involtini di pesce spada for secondo piatto and it was a good as you'd expect from a restaurant located 20 m from the ocean. The waiter was nice, and he made the perfect choice for me wrt the bottle of vino bianco as well as digestivo. FYI, didn't wait at all for a seat, as the staff was really accommodating, cleaning a table for me as other customers left. Did wait a bit until a waiter was assigned to me, but didn't have to wait for any service from that point on.

Beautiful scenery, amazing view, food was good, fine, nothing special to be in love with, service wasn’t the best, not very involved nor welcoming. Prices were high, which is kind of understandable due to the location, but still, we payed for pasta and 2 antipasti with water 47€.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately the new management is not up to the previous one. A pizza arrived charred after an hour and a half late. Upon opening the box, the pizza gave off a burning smell and the toppings were raw. When I called, feeling sorry because I don't like to cause controversy, the lady on the phone was kind in managing the situation but in the background you could hear the pizza chef replying in an angry tone to the lady about the charred pizza "but when ever" continuing with other words that were barely audible but in a contemptuous tone. The lady insisted on having a second pizza delivered to me as soon as possible to apologize but obviously it arrived white, soft and cold after another hour of waiting. They also changed the menu so what's the point of still calling it the Mela Dai pizzeria? I advise the pizza chef to be less arrogant. Mistakes can happen but they can be remedied in the best possible way. I attach photos to demonstrate. Allego foto a dimostrazione.

People say you can find the items cheaper elsewhere, but I have no idea where and even if that’s true then by coming here you’re supporting a local independent store, rather than aldi. Located on a quiet back street that has a few tourist attractions and other charms including a level staircase which I find very romantic. Definitely worth your time to come here.

Loved this place. The wines selection is amazing and all local, we described the notes and mouthfill we like in a red wine and were served a bottle that was spot on. Arrived late on our first visit and the amazing host still managed to serve a super tasty local cheese and condiment board with lemon zest and olive oil bread that was the best we had in Sicily. We had to come back to have the wine again and try the selection of local products: it did not disappoint. You can really tell they're passionate. Lovely quaint atmosphere, nice wine, tasty food and amazing service: thank you.

Found several Record shops in Catania and this one was by far the best. The shop is very organised and the second hand records are in impressive condition. Bought an 80´s pressing of New Gold Dream from Simple minds as a souvenir. Will never give it away! The owner is very polite and you can feel that he is a real music lover. Had a great time there.

The best vinyl store in the whole city (I was in all of them) :) The owner is a great person and talking to him about different artists and albums was amazing! There is a record player so you can hear the album before buying it. In the shop you can find many first press editions in fair prices! Thank you for great time and two vinyls to add to my collection :)

Best record store in Catania, by far ! The seller is a real passionate, since the age of 11, yes ! He is kind, friendly and share great stories; his shop proposes a large amount of records in different style of music. Some kind are a bit expensive ( hard rock or New wave for example ) but you can also find some great stuff at a very good price. I found some old soundtracks at a totally fair price and in great shape. I get a discount at the end and my records were carefully packed with cart-board pieces sealed by tape 😍 I highly recommend this place to all record collectors.

I visited this amazing Vinyl shop with my girlfriend during the summer. We had a lovely conversation with the owner about music and the important value of vinyls as a musical format. He was so nice he waited on us to finish going through some of the vinyl stacks before closing for lunch. The collection quality is unmatched and I have been to many shops and fairs across Europe and the UK. Will definitely be coming back, hopefully next summer! :)

Beautiful shop, owner speaks very good English. I wanted to buy Italian music and he helped me find it, together we listened to the vinyl and I bought 3 amazing singles!! Thank you :)

Small shop but a great selection of pre-owned vinyl. The owner is a lovely guy who really knows his subject, if you're into detail to do with pressings, cover art etc this is a great place to visit
Alan L — Google review
Such a great experience learning about classic Italian musicians that the owner stocked and recommended, even playing the records for us before we made a selection, and sharing with us his enthusiasm and expertise!

Small record shop with a good selection, nice 45's (a bit expensive), Italo disco & prog, ambient, pop & jazz. You can find some rare stuff here, wish my suitcase wad big enough to take more!

This bookstore is a paradise for book lovers and enthusiasts of vintage books, old maps, and antiques.
A real hidden gem in the heart of Catania. Worth a least an hour or two there to wander in the past.

This place looked so cool from the outside. We spent 4 days in Catania and attempted to go here 4 times. They were always closed, despite the hours saying that they were open every time we went. We would have loved to visit, but sadly, we couldn’t.
Maria S — Google review
No doubt a great place to find older books. There's a great selection of Italian books to choose from and it seems the owner might be able to outsource some books that are not in stock. (Un)fortunately, this bookstore is mostly oriented to Italians and Italian-speaking shoppers as the selection of books in other languages is quite limited.

If you like vintage books, old maps and antiques it is worth to visit this shop.

During our Honeymoon in octobre we visited La Scogliera twice. Absolutely the best food in the whole of Sicily ;) (our opinion). Service was even better. This is a must visit if you're in the area!

In the Space of a week we have eaten twice in here. The 1st was outstanding food fresh fish. It was that nice we went back 3 days later. Yet again had something different an was really nice. Recommended

I hate giving bad reviews. The location was convenient for us & the atmosphere was also decent. Unfortunately the food price:quality ratio was horrible. The english was pretty bad- but my Italian is even worse so I can’t complain about that aspect. The bread was that cheapish white baguette kind that gives you the “it’s probably leftovers from 2 days ago” kind of impression. The food price was not overly expensive but the quality did not justify the price at all. Calamari wasn’t prepared well and its only taste was that of far too much olive oil. The sea bass was €20 for a surprisingly small portion that was too “scaley” and with too many bones in it. Other reviews say that the pizzas are very good. I should have ordered a pizza then.

Had a great dinner here during my time in Catania. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I went with their recommendation for antipasti and had one of the pizzas. I would eat here again for sure.
Michael F — Google review
We should have left the restaurant when the waiter was only speaking Italian to us. Not possible to understand even simple English like too salty, or spoon. If it is local area i can understand, but it is a touristic area. However one of them can speak English however he was too busy at something else. Like other comments said: poor service, unfriendly, for us, even the food was not tasty at all. My risotto campus was so salty that I couldn’t swallow. Really disappointed, should have checked the comments before deciding to enter this place. Even when we want to pay, card machine had some connection problem. 😓 if you don’t speak Italian, better do not go there. You will just be like me, paying for disappointment.
