Historic Sites
Nestled in a secluded Chilterns valley, National Trust - Greys Court is a historic 16th-century manor house with a rich history dating back over 9 centuries. The estate features a donkey-powered mill wheel, a 12th-century tower, and a grass maze. Visitors can explore the tranquil gardens and admire the stained-glass panels and elegant drawing room inside the mansion.
Always a fantastic day out. Very knowledgeable volunteers. Gorgeous gardens, even though a been drooping from the heat this time around. Places to picnic and walk. A great little book nook. One of our favourite venues.

I really loved this site. It was so tranquil on an early Saturday morning. The estate walks are beautiful. The walled garden is amazing - one of the best I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. The wisteria must look stunning when in bloom. House is very pretty and someone was playing the piano and it really made the visit even more pleasant.
Z — Google review
A wonderful little place to spend the afternoon. The walk around the garden was lovely. Autumn blooms out in force. Not many people around so seemed peaceful. The house is compact but plenty to see and take in. Volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Biscuits that were cooked in the kitchen as we passed through were delicious. Shop and tea room were accessible and had standard NT fayre. The second hand bookshop was small but plenty of choice. All staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back here. Highly recommended.
Gary J — Google review
An interesting house and different to a number.of other houses we have been to. The rooms are more 20th century so an interesting insight into the family home and kitchen. The gardens were lovely, even though it is October but I will be back in Spring and summer when they will be at their best!
Ali R — Google review
A beautifully preserved National Trust property with a warm, lived-in feel. The interiors are charming and full of character — especially the kitchen and library. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A peaceful spot for a slow afternoon, and the garden is lovely too. Highly recommended if you’re near Henley-on-Thames!

Wonderful house and Gardens. Rich history going back 1000 years, 1066 and the war. Lots of unusual plants and trees to see. Visit the green house and walled garden. There is a garden shop. Plenty of free car parking. Nice cafe with good selection of hot and cold food. Plenty of seating i door and outdoors.
Shailesh P — Google review
I have been to Greys Court before, visiting in May 2023. Like on my previous visit, inside I was reminded me of my grandparents’ houses and flats. Part of the reason was the furniture in the house was more 1960s and 1970s than the 19th Century. There is always that compromise between preservation, conservation and restoration. Some National Trust properties try to restore the house to what it was like in the 19th century, other times as with Greys Court they preserve what it was like when it was passed to the National Trust.
James C — Google review
Very peaceful and relaxing property with beautiful and interesting gardens and well presented 1930s furnished house. Knowledgeable volunteers were on hand and a pianist playing in the drawing room. It would have been good if there had been a kids activity trail but a good members experience nonetheless.

Coffee shop
Harris + Hoole is a charming cafe chain known for its single-origin, specialty coffee and delectable breakfast and lunch offerings. Located in Henley, this cozy spot boasts modern decor and a dog-friendly atmosphere, making it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. The friendly staff are praised for their excellent service, serving up delicious chai lattes, smoothies, flat whites, warm croissants, and tasty treats like oat/seed cookies and cinnamon cookies.
Today while I was walking around Henley, I saw an ad for this vibrant-looking drink on a shop window and decided to give it a try. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the lady who prepared my order with such care. Despite the heat outside, the shop was perfectly cool inside – I honestly didn’t feel like leaving. The place was peaceful, beautifully decorated, and had a really calming vibe. The drink itself was delicious and refreshing. I’m definitely going to visit again and try more from their menu. Highly recommended if you’re in Henley!
Reza R — Google review
Quick stop for takeaway cuppa coffee as need to catch a train. Long wait for nothing to place my order because staff was hanging here and there. After couple of minutes, finally they notice there is someone called customer 😅 While waiting for coffee, noticed place wasn’t clean and that thing putting atmosphere down when people were not feeling comfortable. Though nice place but need update to run good business. Hope in future i’ll see a change when around again.
Win T — Google review
Better Coffee - NEEDED! Our stop here was disappointing. - very slow with indifferent staff, - people hanging around the counter waiting for their drinks, - flavourless coffee and chocolate, - more expensive than the other coffee shops! We returned the chocolate to the counter as it tasted like milk, there was no apology but a question 'would you like me remake it'? Well, obviously - except he didn't and we had to go back and ask again. The seating area was decoratively fine, and the milk was nice and velvety but not enough to warrant 3 stars. Avoid, and go to one of the other shops in town.
Vincent S — Google review
Nicest atmosphere and comfy sofas make it my goto Henley coffee shop. Somewhat let down by the pretty average coffee. Often look like the table need a wipe and the floor a sweep. Sofas definitely showing signs of wear.
Val — Google review
I can only assume it’s improved from the previous poor reviews, but I thought the place was nice. Nice atmosphere with rustic floors and tables, interesting layout with a good amount of seating. Great location for people/car watching from the large windows. I had the Brazilian Minas Gerais filter coffee which was lovely, and even came in a nice carafe and tasting note card. ≈£5 Staff seemed pleasant and were decently speedy even when busy. Worth a go, shame about the previous reviews but I had no issues here.
Harvey B — Google review
I last visited this chain about a year ago and thought I’d give it another try — I wish I hadn’t. The seasonal drink I ordered was genuinely awful; I couldn’t even finish it. Finding a seat was nearly impossible because the upstairs area was inexplicably closed, likely due to being understaffed as usual. When I finally did find a spot, the seat was dirty and stained, and every table around me was covered in empty cups, plates, and food debris. The staff stood behind the counter chatting instead of clearing tables or maintaining any level of cleanliness. It’s a real shame — this is one of the best locations in town, yet it’s completely wasted on a poorly run, low-quality coffee shop. For a brand owned by Tesco, the lack of care, cleanliness, and quality is disappointing but sadly unsurprising. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
Tom F — Google review
Welcoming, dog friendly cafe with pleasant staff and outstanding coffee, (recommend the Latte), loverly selection of pastries to treat yourself with.

I love coming to this place! Nice selection of drinks and pastries. The top floor is great if you want to catch up with a friend as it's nice and quiet, with some pretty views.

Gastropub
The Argyll, located at 15 Market Place in Henley-on-Thames, is a newly refurbished ale and cider house that offers a relaxed atmosphere and delicious pub grub. The interior has a classic feel while the outdoor space features a 120-seater garden with an outside bar and Burger Shack. Beer enthusiasts will be delighted by the wide selection of craft beers available, with 20 keg lines and 10 cask lines on offer.
Lovely atmosphere, lively and chatty. Warm welcome from staff. Beer cold and crisp. The Big Argyll Burger was amazing! Recommend!
David D — Google review
The only thing I could recommend in this place is the choice of music. They serve canteen food that looks pathetic and tastes like it’s been cooked and laid around for a while (burger patty not fresh). Atrocious customer service, male manager intentionally showing us his attitude, he made a scene out of 4 pieces of tortillas, quite unnecessary really, understood you guys were enjoying a lazy evening until we turned up to an empty pub, but you were open so it’s not our fault.
Christine K — Google review
Went to Henley to watch friends “Morris Dancing “ (see video) 😁🕺 Time for a 🍺 so let’s try The Argyle just across the road. Never been in there before. A real eye opener. Fantastic beer selection 🍻 Shall we go outside said someone 😁 Amazing beer garden that goes on forever. Who knew? Booths and tables a plenty. Great atmosphere Morris dancers came in for a drink and played music. Great fun and really enjoyed this pub. Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Wonder what the foods like? Very friendly bar staff😁

Is there such a thing as ‘prison chic’? If there is and it’s your thing, head to The Argyll. I forked out nearly £20 for frozen processed fish, frozen powdery chunky chips, a tablespoon of (I assume frozen) mushy peas and the same of tartar sauce, both served in what must be super speed biodegradable paper cups. I can only think the salt must have been top notch because the food wasn’t worth a fiver. If prison chic is not a thing, my apologies to all prisons. I’ve never been in one but the food in them must be better than this. I mean, they’re quite popular places. Unlike here on a Tuesday. Of course, I have to acknowledge the staff. If only for their comedic efforts to pull a Guinness. I reckon of the £6.90 I paid for a pint, over £1.20 of it was for the bishop’s collar head. No wonder the on trade is dying a death. People will not put up with such mediocrity. I won’t.

Its a great find in Henley. Its buzzy and friendly. Reasonably priced food that is decent with a good menu. Have the Sunday roast for 2!. Book a pod and sit outside. Good for watching sports as each one has a TV. It has personality which is not always easy to find these days.

Had a brilliant meal here last week. My pie and mash was delicious and my husband loved his kebab. Welcoming staff. Dog friendly. Nice to see that it was busy as it deserves to be.

What a lovely pub! Even though situated in the middle of Henley, it has a lovely outside area with a variety of seating otions. The food was good and the service was excellent!! Such friendly, upbeat staff. Nothing was too much trouble. After our lunch on Friday we kind of used The Argyll as our base and returned there whenever we had gaps in the plans. Will certainly be back next time we visit Henley.

Yesterday evening, I had a delightful early dinner at Bijan's Kitchen in Henley-On-Thames with my 11-year-old son. The dining experience was exceptional, with remarkable service from the friendly and attentive staff. This family-run establishment truly cares about its customers. Moreover, the Persian cuisine surpassed my expectations; it was truly delicious. The prompt service and reasonable prices further enhanced our dining experience. I highly recommend Bijan's Kitchen to anyone seeking an independent restaurant in Henley-On-Thames.
My partner took me here to celebrate my birthday. It's a lovely restaurant. Persian food was excellent the staff too. Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends They even presented me with a cake which was a lovely touch

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Breakfast Experience at Bijan’s Kitchen, Henley-on-Thames! We had a truly lovely breakfast at Bijan’s Kitchen on Saturday. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfectly matching the charm of beautiful Henley-on-Thames. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented — you can really taste the care that goes into every dish. A special mention goes to the Persian-style brewed tea, which was simply exceptional — fragrant, perfectly balanced, and served just the way it should be. It was the perfect complement to a relaxed and enjoyable morning. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. We left feeling happy and satisfied, and we’ll definitely be coming back again soon. Highly recommended! 🌸

As a Persian, I highly recommend this restaurant! The food is authentic, flavorful, and of top-notch quality. The staff went above and beyond with their customer service, even treating us to some extra free sides and delicious Persian cookies. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made the experience exceptional. If you’re looking for a place that captures the essence of Persian cuisine with great service, this is the spot. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Food was really good. Went very well with the persian tea. Loved the chicken dish - Zereshek Polo Ba Murgh. The meat was cooked to perfection and went so well with the saffron rice and barberries. Very generous serving size as well.

Had a very nice dinner. It was our first time trying Persian food and it was amazing. The staff was very friendly and they even arranged a amazing cake for my husband who was celebrating the bday and a kind gesture they even gave us a to try some Persian biscuits.

A hidden gem, this restaurant strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. The menu is thoughtful, with each dish crafted to highlight fresh ingredients and bold flavors without overwhelming the palate. Service is attentive yet unintrusive, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and welcoming. The space itself radiates charm, making it as inviting for a quiet dinner as it is for a celebratory evening. A place that lingers in memory long after the last bite.

Indian restaurant
Henley Spice Merchant is a riverside establishment that offers a blend of contemporary and traditional Indian cuisine in a charming rustic setting. Their menu features a variety of delectable dishes inspired by the flavors of Asia, infused with the essence of high-tea culture. The chefs have curated a diverse selection of signature delicacies to tantalize your taste buds, ensuring an exciting and innovative dining experience. With prices starting at £22.
Best Indian food ever! We don’t eat anywhere else when we want a curry! Prawns starter is amazing, onion bhagee are massive, could serve 2-4 people but so tasty! We usually get the Murgh Nilgiri, Butter chicken, mushroom rice & naan bread. Absolute 11/10 as far as Indian curries go & we’ve tried a lot! More expensive than others in town but the flavours and quality makes up for this! So lucky to have spice merchant in Henley so close to home.

We had an early dinner menu. So ordered the spiced duck starter from tandoor and rajasthan lamb curry and Malawi monk fish curry The menu was very interesting trying not to be just a typical Indian restaurant. Duck can be very badly done by Indian cooking. The duck was soft and perfectly cooked. With a light spicing. We had similar from Benares with pigeon. Which was just as memorable. The lamb curry was excellent in flavour and spicy. I do think you need be aware that you need to make sure it’s mild. Even if it C doesn’t say it is spicy. For me it was perfectly spicy. The Malawi curry with non fish was great. The monkfish was tasty. We had a reasonable priced Pilau rice and Kema nan. Which is more more a roti. Not a nan. Service was charged. All in all the choice was excellent to be different. I read the other poor reviews and didn’t make sense to me. Taste being boring and portion sizes. The portion of the fish and lamb curry was at least 7 pieces. Not small pieces. So portions were large enough for the price. The curry was more authentic to regions they have mentioned. Rajasthan tends to be deeper flavours and spicy. The fish curry was heavy with fish sauce flavour with curry leaves. I’d personally try the Chettinad curry next time as that should be strong with curry leaves and tomato. Service charge is included. If you didn’t like the service. Don’t pay it. We had a real good experience and the 3.9 stars does not accurately reflect I feel this restaurant trying to offer a better regional choice of curries. I do think the lamb was overcooked. But that was my main criticism of a good curry house. Recommend a try.
Murad A — Google review
Lovely place but the food was not up to much, chicken tikka masala souce was like a sugar sirup, sauce to lamb was flooded in nasty seed oil, onion barji was huge and inedible. For the prices they charge, you would expect the food to be at least average.

I had an absolutely wonderful meal at Spice Merchant in Henley. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed — perfect for both a casual lunchtime and a special occasion. The food was outstanding — beautifully presented and full of authentic flavors. Every dish tasted fresh and perfectly spiced, especially the winter warmers ,chicken tikka biryani. The naan was soft and fluffy, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the cooking and the service here. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. I’ll definitely be returning soon and recommending it to friends and family!
Yasin T — Google review
This restaurant has the best views in Henley. The staff are very attentive and helpful. But the food is definitely on the expensive side for an Indian restaurant. As an Indian I needed to ask for extra green chillies.
Krish K — Google review
As previous customers of the Spice Merchant (when it was located riverside) we were excited to visit them on their new premise in the High St, we were a little disappointed to find a much smaller restaurant, over priced food, £19 pp for a seafood starter, £15 for a glass of wine, and customers crammed into a small space, very uncomfortable. The new restaurant lacks atmosphere and authenticity.
Tracey W — Google review
Visited on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the vegetarian set menu. We were the only customers in the restaurant service was slow and not attentive waiting staff looking at the till screen and ignoring us. Bread and side dish were served separately when they should have accompanied the main course. As such the side dish was cold when the main course arrived and we had to ask for it to be reheated. Food was very average and we still paid a service charge despite the poor service. We will not be returning expensive average food and poor service avoid.
Cheryl A — Google review
Friendly staff, good location, nice ambience. Slightly smaller portions than you’d expect. For a main course of Tandoori tiger prawns at £21.95 you’d expect more than 5 on a plate! However the butter murgh was the best I’ve ever had. Deep, rich and complex.

The Three Tuns is a delightful and inviting old pub adorned with traditional wooden furnishings. Its menus change seasonally, offering a variety of delectable dishes, and it also hosts live music performances. Located at 5 Market Place RG9 2AA and reachable at 01491 410138 or on their website http://www.threetunshenley.co.uk/, Sandra and Mark have successfully revived the establishment after previous subpar management.
Called for a drink and decided to have Sunday lunch. Staff were lovely and sorted us a table for 2, even though they were extremely busy. Roast pork dinner and chicken were both nice. Ample vegetables came separately, and we asked for extra gravy, and it was no trouble to them.

A well established pub that has just been upgraded. Simple and small inside. Must book to ensure you get a table. Small concise very nice menu. Prompt polite service. We had only main courses. Pork chop and lamb cutlets with sides of new potatoes and rocket salad. Very well cooked and delicious. Didn’t wait too long. Food hot and very well presented. Two glasses of rose wine. What’s not to like. Connected to “Machins butchers” so you know the meats going to be good 😁 Will definitely go again. Recommend 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We had lunch in the cozy casual bar area as it had a nice open fire on a cold day. Interesting flavoursome dishes well prepared with ample portions. Friendly staff but table service suffered somewhat even though it wasn’t busy. Very good value for the quality of the dishes.

Beautiful pub, great atomosphere and the food is incredible. All the meat is sourced from Gabriel Machins (butchers) next door & their top chef is brilliant - don’t miss out. You can switch it up too - Sunday afternoons they have double smash burgers & soft serve ice cream which are well worth a second visit for. Great staff, all attentive and fast. This place is a real gem and easily the best local in the area.

Enjoyed a really delicious meal this evening in a wonderfully informal atmosphere. Loved everything but the service made it special - Nigel, Ben and young lady (sorry forgot your name!) were incredibly attentive and professional and Henry the chef also came to chat. He has an amazing background and our meal was outstanding. Everything was perfect. What could we improve? Nothing! Thanks!

A table was reserved for us in the bar area surrounded by a noisy crowd of pissed-up blokes. Despite the decent quality of the food, the ambience was woeful, the bar was cold, and the fireplace was useless and smokey. I lost count of the number of times we had to stand up to shut the bar door to keep the cold air out. The staff couldn't manage the situation. Serving restaurant quality food (Michelin Guide) in the bar area - NOT working. This experience cost £120, and was unfortunately our wedding anniversary meal out. In hindsight, we should have left after the starters

Pizza restaurant
Pizza Express is a popular chain pizzeria situated in Henley-on-Thames. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere where chefs, dressed in striped t-shirts, handcraft pizzas. Located on the edge of the bustling Market Place, Pizza Express is always busy and attracts customers with its discount vouchers. The pizza and dough balls served are of good quality, typical of a chain restaurant. However, what sets Pizza Express apart is its unique building and location.
had a pleasant time at this pizza express a while back. meant to of left a review. it was all thanks to the amazing woman who served us (wish i’d caught her name!). honestly one of the best servers i’ve ever come across. super friendly, always smiling and completely on it the whole time. she made sure everything was perfect and sorted out a small issue we had straight away without any fuss. she made the whole experience 10x better. big thank you to her, hope she gets the credit she deserves :) On top of this, Pizza express food will always be my favourite.

Our Sunday visit was very pleasant. Nicely located restaurant, cozy place. The young lady who served us was polite and helpful. Pizzas were good. Unfortunately they didn’t have the meat one and we had to take more time to choose something else. The lady told me about the app that I didn’t have so I downloaded it and it turned out I have some free side dish and I collect stamps. Thanks !

DO NOT DELIVEROO FROM THIS RESTAURANT. We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes and received three burned pizzas, one which was incorrect, and were also missing another part of the order. We paid £72 for burned, cold food. We rang the manager and he said to take it up with Deliveroo, which we have done, but the food was sent out of the restaurant incorrect and looking like this.

This is a great little restaurant and the prices are pretty reasonable. The app is also super handy and means you can pay at the table. It was also clean and not too crowded. The food itself was tasty and arrived quickly. The staff were friendly enough. The only downside was that the staff seemed incredibly rushed and stressed, to the point of them literally running around, despite the restaurant not being that busy. I thought this was a little alarming and dangerous and I hope they’ll hire more people if there’s a staffing issue. That said, I’d definitely come back here as it was a good experience overall and I’d recommend it to others.

A rather small Pizza Express off the main drag situated on the corner. I believe there may have been an upstairs, but we sat downstairs. There didn't appear to be enough staff for the amount of guests. I am glad we booked as I am not sure we would have been able to eat here otherwise. The food was very good. We had Dough Balls starter and then the BBQ Burnt Ends Romana Pizza and Carbonara Pizza Express Al Forno.. the food was really lovely, other than some ends of the pasta being burnt. The service was slow, we had to ask a couple of times for our jug of water and it felt a while to order and get our food. It was a bustling busy place which caused it to be rather noisy. Luckily I checked our bill as we had been charged for an item we didn't order or have. When I pointed this out the girl said she had realised she had done this and then forgot to remove it.. Overall, worth a visit for the food, but be prepared, you may have a wait on your hands.

I have been coming to this branch of Pizza Express for years, but I had to leave a review this time as I’ve recently been diagnosed with a severe gluten allergy, and the service I received was second to none. The waiter who took our order knew exactly what to do, put my food through with a note to keep everything separate, and my food came with gluten free stickers so I knew it had been handled carefully. Honestly, I can’t tell you how relieved this made me, and Pizza Express has now been added to my ‘safe list’ for the future. Thank you so much!

I had a pizza and a dessert. My order was taken quickly the service was very good and the food was very tasty. It was a Tuesday night so the resurant wasn't busy but it was welcoming and a pleasant meal The prices are reasonable

Pizza and dough balls are what you'd expect from a Pizza Express (good quality chain restaurant style) but the building and location are a little bit special. It's very conveniently located and the internal layout is eclectic and muddled in a good way (little alcove spaces and twisting stairs that seem to reflect the building's age). On top of that, the staff were genuinely great - approachable and fun, easy-going but efficient. Nice spot to grab a pizza.

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Henley, Villa Marina is a charming family-run trattoria that has been delighting locals with its authentic Italian cuisine since 1996. With a smart dining room adorned with tiled floors and crisp white linens, this cozy eatery offers a menu brimming with traditional favorites. Diners can indulge in delectable dishes like seafood spaghetti tossed in garlic and tomato sauce or savor the rich flavors of cacio e pepe.
This was a great restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived quickly. The place is clean and comfortable. The food itself is delicious, and I thought the price for the set menu was very fair. I’d particularly recommend the prawns with black pepper for a starter as this was delicious. The espressos were also excellent and traditionally Italian. I would definitely come back here.

Review for Villa Marina Restaurant – Day 1 of My Dinner Review Journey: Kicking off my two-week dinner review adventure, Villa Marina did not disappoint. The branzino was absolutely amazing—flaky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I finished strong with a chocolate mousse that was just as impressive. No problem getting a table, and the service and atmosphere made it an overall great experience. Excited to see how the rest of the journey compares!

A surprise dinner booked by hubby. The restaurant is cosy with proper tablecloths. The mirrors on the walls make it look bigger but it was lovely. Staff are friendly, menu was quite extensive in choice and they still had specials available. Choices were beef carpaccio- veal - cauliflower cheese - minestrone soup and lam in mushroom and red wine sauce , potato’s and mixed veg…. It all tasted really good - we will be back

Exceptional. Perfection in every way….. this is how to run a restaurant. The food was delicious, the service old fashioned but what everyone wants, super clean and very reasonable . You will not be disappointed. Thank you to you all for a fantastic lunch.

Double check your bill! They add in orders and gaslight you when you point it out. The chef is clearly talented but everyone else needs to have their eyes tested or go to accountancy school. Lunchtime meal with grandmother and wife; they said two people got three course set menu when only one had. Side dishes we didn’t order turned up and then we got charged for them. We assumed the vegetable bowl came with the main course otherwise we would have said something immediately. A drink got added we definitely never ordered. In summary: they added two extra sides, an extra drink and an extra course to our meal and charged 12.5% onto this inflated bill. They then gaslight my grandmother who questioned the bill at the bar and was shaken up about it. “If you still think it’s wrong tomorrow come back and I’ll refund you”. Yes, a 94 year old can just swan in and out of town to argue over bills. Congrats fellas. We’ll never be back.

Had lunch here on a Wednesday lunchtime. The Restaurant was fully booked. Having dined here, I can fully understand why. We had 2 courses, the main course was excellant. The homemade sweets that we had were outstanding. Fully recommend this restaurant.

The Angel on the Bridge is a charming pub located in the heart of Henley, offering a classic British dining experience. The pub features wooden floors, white walls, and beams, creating a cosy atmosphere. Its riverside terrace provides stunning views of the River Thames and is perfect for capturing memorable photographs. Nearby attractions include the renowned Leander Rowing Club and Temple Island, where visitors can enjoy peaceful walks and observe local wildlife such as kingfishers and wading birds.
Depending on where you enter… this lovely 2nd floor or ground floor traditional British Pub that overlooks a picturesque part of the River Thames, and it offers amazing service, polite and friendly, accommodating and warming… food was exceptionally well made and tasted fantastic! Very British gastropub style food! The sticky toffee pudding was the highlight for sure, as well as the exceptional view outside!

Lovely pub on the river, great seating outside worth the price. Had pork scratchings which were great and Sunday roast - beef. Only 2 slices of meat so could have been a bit more there. Potatoes weren’t crispy on the outside, rest of the veg was pretty good. Still highly recommend for the setting
Scott B — Google review
Location, Location, Location. Sitting on river under the bridge this is a must stop for drinks for any visitor in Henley. We stop there every time we get into Henley as the views of the bridge and river are brilliant. On good weather weekend it will be packed on the terrace with happy drinkers (and many dogs). The service is quite efficient and trying hard to keep with flood of orders. Food is OK but considering price/quality ratio we mostly drink here. We will come back as it's an amazing location.
Sam A — Google review
Whilst sitting on the outside tables gives a spectacular view of the river, the Sunday roast was lacking. The serving of meat was slightly disappointing as it was two very thinly cut slices of beef. There is SO MUCH veg (probably too much) the potatoes were sadly not crispy and slightly dry, the carrots were great. Yorkshire pudding was also soft and not warm when served. Staff are friendly and in the winter, sitting inside by the fireplace with a drink is wonderful.

A classic pub nothing too fancy but it always hits the spot. The fish and chips. Boy oh boy! They hit every single taste bud standing in my mouth. So crispy the fish so fresh and the fries. Blew me out of the water I mean mouth watering juicy salty fries were just so yummmm also apparently the beer was very good but I did not try because I’m not the legal age too! Overall had a great time at the local pub definitely going to be a staple for next time I come here!

Nice pub right on the river in Henley. We stopped for a drink and got a good table in the window. Dog friendly although there's not much room inside when it's busy. Loads of tables outside though when it's warm enough. Pleasant place to while away an Autumn afternoon.

Really disappointing as we’ve been here before the rebrand and quite like it. Told it was table service when we arrived so waited patiently at our table. Took long time to order which wasn’t ideal as we have young children. We ordered brunch and some hot drinks. Our food arrived before our coffee which wasn’t a good sign as there’s been quite a wait on food. When the hot drinks arrived there was only one not two. I questioned with the waitress where the other drink was and she went away to check- last I saw of that waitress. I caught the waitress we’d ordered from who said she’d check. She did return but only to show me the order she’d entered with one drink. I explained that I’d asked her for two and this could be a mistake on her side. She offered to print me the receipt of the order she was currently showing me which I declined. No apology offered for the mistake and the fact no one had actually gone and checked. There was no check in on food or drink in the time we were there so overall not good service at all.

Our hopes were high as there seemed to be good cake options. Neither cake was great. The choc cake was from frozen, the crumble was served fridge cold until we took it back to the kitchen, even then the heated version was not fresh. Dissappointing after reading others reviews.
Kim V — Google review
This was my first visit since it had changed hands from the chocolate cafe, the weather was good so I sat outside with my dog on a table next to the river. I was pleased to see they still have the same selection of hot chocolates on the menu, I chose the standard dark chocolate, which i highly recommend, not too sweet and a deep rich chocolate flavour. 10 out of 10! I ordered the fish finger wrap with a slide of hash browns (25% off if you order with one of the sandwiches) I was a little underwhelmed when they turned up, it advertised 4 fish fingers on the menu but they must have been baby fish as the wrap was a little flat, and due to the heat from the fingers the leaves that accompanied them had turned to mush. My only suggestion would be to use something more robust like gem lettuce. The accompanying hash browns were delicious, hot, crisp, and well cooked and not too oily. A few tweeks and I would have given a 5 star review as rhe location is great, the staff where attentive and friendly the hot chocolate was fantastic as was the hash brown just the wrap that sadly wasn't great, IMO. My dog loved the ice cream too! I will be back, though, to give them another try.

This small cafe is great for those working - I stayed there from 11.30 am to 4pm and asked if they could look after my table while I went for a 10-min walk along the riverside, to which they happily agreed. Nothing is too hard for them. I loved it and would recommend for those stopping for a little. Or a lot like me. WiFi is great, place is not too noisy (I worked with headphones). The staff are very, very friendly, smiley and helpful, there is a mixed, nice clientele. Some tables have a river view. There are plugs for your laptop and mobile phone. The food selection is good. Ice cream is delicious, I recommend the Biscoff. Large, pretty pot of tea, right temperature and plenty of milk. I had brunch - tried the vegetarian all day breakfast, the sausage is amazing, everything was cooked to perfection and really well presented. The portion was huge. I found the brunch a bit pricey (£16) but the tea and ice cream are reasonably priced. I love the fact that everyone was working happy - such a good vibe. PS. It is also dog friendly ❤️🐕

We had the best day on Lillibet for my husband's birthday. Family and close friends joined for a picnic in the sunshine on the back of this gorgeous boat skippered by Dizzy who was brilliant, navigating locks and letting us know some local info. on the river. I loved every minute. The service was excellent from booking through to the very end. I will definitely go again.

Used this service at Rewind south last night to Henley. We waited over 40 minutes which is fair enough as there were a lot of people wishing to use the service. However 2 people arrived and did not queue and were let on the boat by the security staff and whole crowd over 200 people were extremely upset at these queue jumpers and they said to anyone voiced an opinion that if they did not shut up they would not be allowed on the boat as the 2 people were family. Totally unacceptable customer service or lack of it. Even the disabled and elderly were waiting in the queue, the staff showed no respect or consideration to their paying customers.

Lovely spot with a warm fireplace and welcoming staff, which made for a cosy atmosphere. We ordered the 'nduja sausage pizza, a bottle of wine, and a gin cocktail. Popped in for lunch, hadn’t booked a table and managed to get a table in the courtyard at the rear of the restaurant. Wide variety of food available. Shockingly bad experience! Would not recommend. Slow service and bad food - service was so slow and although most mains were preordered they arrived 90’ after our arrival - we had small children who were waiting to eat as well and were becoming restless and they didn’t even bring a few simple kids meals sooner - member of staff was rude when i asked were our mains were after an hour - food was unacceptable, my roast could have been made from leftovers or was sitting in the kitchen for too long, it was cold, flavourless, haphazardly put together. Didn’t eat it. Burgers were mediocre. Lobster Alfredo was completely inedible . The only decent dishes were the brill and the steak Ruined a family celebration for us Will NEVER visit again

We came here on a very dull and rainy afternoon for lunch and it was still rather busy, so assume it is a locals favourite. Service was with a friendly smile and was swift and efficient. Some excellent choices of drinks as well as food, something for everyone, the half hungry or starving! Decent non alcoholic drinks / beers for the drivers of this world which was nice! Opted for the fresh plaice and deer steak both succulent and perfectly cooked and proportions were perfect. Prices on par with others in the area, all very clean and spacious, there are a lot of decent eateries in Henley but this one is in definitely in the top half.

Nice looking restaurant in Henley. Could be excellent with a few basic improvements. Table was sticky when we sat down, asked staff to clean it which was done quickly. Roast beef Sunday roasts arrived quickly. Good meat and veg, but the gravy was like water, and had already been poured over everything rather than being served separate which is the norm nowadays. I noticed at the entrance the piano looks like it needs a good clean. Generally a nice place, but has room for improvement.

Terrible service - 5 staff (children) behind the counter, talking between themselves and appear to be more interested in each other than actually serving customers. Ordered two frappucino, both absolutely tasteless and was merely two cups of milk with huge ice cubes. Drinks are expensive enough in these establishments so when you do pay for it, you expect a half decent drink. Urgent staff training needed and maybe an adult to supervise. Will not be visiting this place again.

Nestled in the charming town of Henley, Giggling Squid is a delightful Thai restaurant that captures the essence of traditional Thai dining. The atmosphere is inviting, featuring a blend of modern elegance with touches of rustic charm like oak beams that create a warm ambiance.
Great Sunday lunch. Beautiful ancient building turned into colourful Thai party. Very quite by 2pm when we walked in. The service was very attentive and kind. Every dish was a celebration of taste and we enjoyed it very much.

Visited Giggling Squid in Henley recently and, honestly, I was a bit underwhelmed. The atmosphere is nice, and the decor is quirky, but the food didn't quite live up to the hype. While the main dishes were decent, I ordered a piece of cake for dessert, and it was noticeably smaller than what you'd expect - definitely not worth the price. The service was okay, but overall, I left feeling like it was a bit overpriced for what it offered. There are better options in Henley if you're looking for value for money.

Went here for the first time today, and it won’t be the last. Molika was super welcoming, service overall was so sweet. Food was absolutely amazing, I would recommend the fisherman starter. We had the spicy basil stir fry chicken, seabass and spicy crab for mains. All of which were delicious and filling. Really recommend the Pink Lady and the Lychee Angel for drinks. Didn’t have time to try the desserts as we were absolutely full. Overall a great experience with lovely sweet staff. Papaya salad is always the best.

Made several visits to the GS but this time was poor. There was 50 mins between starter and main. A bottle of water ordered never turned up until we were set to leave and the food was average. The starter I had looked like it was scraped up off the floor and the main meal appeared to have been sitting for a waiter to bring it to the table. Too few staff I guess but the equation is simple - pay better wages and stick a pound or two on a dish instead of taking the profit.

This is our first time to visit this restaurant. We were served by Alan and he made very good suggestions for food. He provided prompt service and paid attention to detail too. The atmosphere of this restaurant is warm and relaxing. We had good food and great time here.
Nekobus L — Google review
It’s a warm and cozy restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely. The starters were very tasty, but I’d suggest mentioning when you order that you don’t want extra chili flakes sprinkled on the soft-shell crab or squid — the dipping sauce is already spicy enough. The main course became underwhelming because the overly pickled bamboo shoots covered the flavour of the stirfry. The desserts weren’t a Thai or Asian choice or homemade; they looked more like supermarket chocolate pudding that’s been warmed up and plated nicely. I am not sure if soufflé is really soufflé. Let’s just say the desserts didn’t rise to the occasion. When we were leaving, none of the staff said a word or even a goodbye…It’s the kind of place that really knows how to impress you, but not how to follow through and end well. Probably because the people in this lovely town are so friendly and nice, but for the same price, you could find much more authentic Thai restaurants in London.

Bistro
Breakfast restaurant
Bistro at The Boathouse, formerly known as Shaun Dickens at The Boathouse, is a charming riverside bistro with a terrace. It offers a diverse menu including breakfast, small and large plates, salads, and sandwiches. Since its relaunch in 2019 by ex-Le Manoir chef Shaun Dickens and his wife Gemma, the restaurant has adopted a more relaxed atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy the open foredeck for pre-lunch drinks during Sunday lunch social occasions.
We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place for the experience that we wanted: fantastic food, lovely views of the river enjoying the weather and superb staff and service. They even surprised us with a celebratory dessert. The staff also went out of their way to accommodate us outside. We had a few staff members rotate through our meal and every single one was attentive and personable. Thank you for a wonderful memory!

A very nice place with lovely staff, we enjoyed the delicious food and cold drinks, we just couldn't finish the BBQ plate for two, and 2 plates of fish and chips, the fish and chips plate was to the expensive side and not the best I ever eaten

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Bistro at The Boathouse in Henley-on-Thames. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuinely friendly atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of our visit. The staff were incredible — professional, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. Everyone was attentive, thoughtful, and worked together seamlessly to ensure guests were well looked after. There was a real sense of teamwork, and it made the whole dining experience feel smooth, relaxed, and enjoyable. Service was not only friendly but also impressively efficient — our food arrived quickly, piping hot and presented well. Now to the food — the Sunday roast was faultless. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and well presented. You could tell a lot of care and skill had gone into every element. Even though the restaurant was busy (as you’d expect on a Sunday), the atmosphere remained calm and pleasant. The staff remained attentive throughout, topping up drinks, checking in at just the right moments, and making us feel completely at ease. It’s also worth saying how genuinely welcoming the place felt. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, solo or with a group, the team makes everyone feel like a valued guest. It’s a rare quality and made a big impression on us. In short, this was one of the best Sunday lunches we've had in a long time. Delicious food, fast and flawless service, and some of the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet. We left full, happy, and already planning our return visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a proper roast and outstanding hospitality. A brilliant spot in a lovely location — we’ll definitely be back soon!

The bonanza breakfast was good and big but pricey. 2 breakfasts with tea came to £40. The featured sausage was ok, nothing special. The fried eggs were very good, as was the mushroom. The rest was fine. We had a table by the full length window overlooking the outside tables and the Thames. This is what pushes it up to 4 stars. The interior is nicely decorated.

We came here for a birthday lunch by the river and were pleasantly surprised! The setting was beautiful with lovely views, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. The food really impressed us—especially the poke bowls, which were fresh and flavorful. Service was a little slow at times, but the staff were friendly and we appreciated the cute little birthday dessert they brought out to share. All in all, a lovely spot for a special occasion.

Years ago, we used to visit the Boathouse quite often. We'll always remember a fantastic New Year's Eve meal and party there. But when Shaun concluded that the fine dining business model wasn't working and moved to a bistro menu we stopped going. After a few years of not bothering to consider it as where we might eat in Henley, I checked their menu and found more than just gourmet burgers and decided to give it a go. Our Tartiflettes were excellent- Shaun is a first class chef. The place was busy, but the service was still attentive and efficient. We had their craft cider with the Tartiflette which worked well, though we didn't need the three thick pieces of bread. I think we'll be back.

Boooooom! Service, food, location… 5 star all the way! Immediately after a lovely morning cruise, and the brain calories burnt along the way in speed using a knots system, then immediately off the boat and straight into this fabulous riverside restaurant that enables dine al fresco with a shade, to avoid getting burnt! The food was absolutely amazing and service was exceptionally warming and welcoming at the same time!

The food was WOW! Especially the white creamy mussels, Oh my God, it was delicious! We were sitting on the terrace, enjoying the river view while sipping our rose. Friendly service. Will return here one day!

Cafe Buendia on Bell Street is a delightful local cafe that deserves our support amidst the threat from large chain establishments. While the food received was of great quality, some felt the portion sizes were slightly small considering the price. The waitstaff efficiently cleared tables but could improve by checking if customers were truly finished before doing so. Despite its small size, the cafe boasts charming Italian windows and even includes an old sewing table as a unique touch.
Early Saturday morning managed to beat the Henley-on-Thames usual crowds. Freshly made breakfast roll & this really hit the spot. Support local, folks! I need to try the Calzones next.
Rainie D — Google review
The food I had was very good but a bit small especially for the price. The waiters were almost too efficient at taking away stuff once we were done and didn't check if we were actually finished first although they were nice. The place is very small and so we were near the loud machines in the kitchen but the place was very nicely designed with classic looking Italian windows and our table was even an old sewing table!

We ordered a pizza to take out. Was expecting a proper homemade Italian pizza, but actually think it was a frozen supermarket one. The base was not freshly made. Thick crust, like you would buy in Tesco. It tasted fine, but really wasn't what I expected. Would go elsewhere for authentic Italian food. Staff were friendly and the place is cute, food filled a gap, but I could have gone home and cooked the same there.
Jen G — Google review
Calzone to die for, it was unsealed as you can see from the picture so that it looked to be exploding out which was brilliant. Definitely the best calzone i've ever had, my dad had the pizza and was slightly less impressed so I'd recommend the calzone or pasta for sure. A very cozy restaurant which you'll love as it feels very authentic.

The best cafe to go for food in miles! A week doesn't go by that we don't have at least one meal here - incredible staff, great food, amazing atmosphere. The owners are so friendly. Worth a lot more than 5 stars!!!

You could easily miss the tiny frontage of what looks like the rather good deli on Bell St Henley. Tucked behind the front counter is an equally tiny restaurant, but oh boy this is the real taste of Italy. Friendly service, a limited pasta and Pizza menu, but dishes to die for I had calzone, the best I've ever had outside Italy. 4 of us dined a different dish and each, but the same response superb.

The Anchor Pub and Restaurant, located at 58 Friday Street, is a charming establishment with an elegant interior and an inviting garden. It offers a variety of traditional dishes and European mains. Recently refurbished under the management of Jeremy Buckler, who previously ran the Angel on the Bridge, this wood-beamed pub provides a lovely atmosphere. The friendly staff are highly accommodating, ensuring that every visit is hassle-free. The service is remarkable, with attentive and positive barmaids and staff members.
Had such a lovely time here! We sat out in the garden which is the perfect spot on a sunny day. We loved the choice the menu had to offer. The ciabatta sandwiches and small plates are a huge hit and great value (order the honey mustard sausages, thank me later). Elliot and the team are a class act and bring a load of energy and character to the place. Will definitely be back!

Had the best day here for a friend’s get-together! The pub garden was really nice—felt private and got great sun. The pub is right by the river. The food? UNREAL. Still thinking about those honey mustard sausages—insanely good. Ciabattas, calamari, and chicken wings were also DELICIOUS! Big shoutout to Elliot, Ella, and the whole team—everyone was so lovely. Thanks for an incredible time! Will definitely be back!!

The food here is absolutely incredible. I had the steak frites, which were cooked to perfection, and also tried the pie from someone else at the table. it was amazing. Special mention has to go to the red cabbage (the best I’ve ever had) and the rich, delicious gravy. I loved it so much I ordered a portion for my steak frites! The staff are attentive, kind, and welcoming. Elliot in particular is lovely, you can really tell he cares about the pub and the people in it. The atmosphere on Friday was wonderful, and the garden is such a great space. I can already imagine how perfect it will be in summer. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely pub on the river. Great food, good beer, friendly and attentive staff, and a brilliant location. Our group spent the afternoon and the evening enjoying this beautiful and friendly Pub. There’s a good selection of drinks, our meals were fresh, tasty and good value and we felt well looked after. Highly recommend!

Had an exceptional Sunday Roast at the Anchor, I usually leave disappointed when I have a roast “out”, not here! The red cabbage was absolutely a stand out & worth a visit for that alone. Beef was tender, potatoes were crispy and vegetables were roasted perfectly. Everything (and more) you want from a Sunday Roast. Well done to new Landlord & Team for arguably the best roast in Henley.

Fantastic family day out, dissapointing the burger van wasn't actually selling burgers despite being open, but the Pizza is 100% the best pizza Ive eaten since our holiday in Italy.

It is a lovely house that gives you a great garden to look around and a decent walk around the grounds. The houses are only open at certain times and only 1 day a week which makes it quite inconvenient to visit. We didn't manage to look around the house but did visit the garden and the lands, it's beautiful but it would be nice to have more accessibility on the weekends.
Mitchell S — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to Stonor Park. We didn't buy a ticket to the house, but the gardens are nice. You do have to pay extra for the playground but it looked OK. However, BEWARE of the Pantry Cafe. It closes at 5 with last orders 4:30 and this isn't signed anywhere! We think they should put a sign in the visitor centre or outside the building. Overall, it's nice for a day out but things aren't very clear.
Patricia C — Google review
If it is your first time there, you might get confused/lost as the grounds were not well signposted (for Halloween) Parking is a bit of a chaos, very muddy with no grip. Playground for children is brilliant. Haĺloween trail was just OK. Stonor's grounds and gardens are absolutely mindblowing. You can also get drinks or food from the van on the playground or machine drinks at the shop. The lady dressed as a witch, at the entrance/cashier made the difference on the day we visited Stonor, a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day 🌤🎃🧙‍♀️🪄☕️👻

A lovely place for a trip out for all the family. The gardens are really lovely and really well maintained. There's lovely views and plenty of places to sit and relax. There's also a brilliant looking kids adventure playground which seemed to be very popular. Food options are slightly limited. In the reception area there are just snacks and hot drinks. In the playground area There's a place selling freshly cooked pizza which was delicious. Although if you are just visiting the gardens you don't necessarily have access to the play area Although thankfully we were allowed access to get our pizza.

Amazing place to go with kids. Unfortunately we went on a drizzly morning so the slides were wet, which caused my grandson to literally fly off the end and wind himself. No serious damage but unnerved him, which was a shame as we were having a great time until then. That said, the park is brilliant and the musical tree is a lovely touch.we would dinitly come again (but maybe stay off the slides if it's wet!)

Yesterday our Probus group had a private tour of the house and gardens. This is, a real gem of a house beautifully preserved and quite quirky in places, what a fabulous fireplace! The house is also set in beautiful surroundings . What a privilege to live there. Peter, our guide, was very knowledgeable, never being unable to answer the many questions thrown at him by many of our members. His easy going manner made the tour so extra special. The cake was pretty good too, a nice finish to a rain free afternoon .

As someone who finds nature, forests and quiet paths therapeutic, this nature reserve was everything I could wish for! One of the few places in England where you feel yourself surrounded by the rich wildlife that a forest can offer. Definitely will go back in different seasons to see how it changes.

This has been, for me, my post retirement grounding and place of tranquility. I volunteer there each Tuesday surrounded by some very clever and interesting people. Ash dieback has taken its toll, but regeneration is clear to see.
Chris W — Google review
A really nice place for a walk. Relatively unspoilt though has a discreet visitor centre and occasional benches. Well cultivated woods and meadow land with maintained walkways and paths. There are lots of walks around the area and this can make a nice deviation from the bridelways, fields and lanes. There are hides to quietly view the wildlife and plenty of meandring paths to let nature guide you through the sights and scenes.
Greg C — Google review
Lovely, quiet location for a family walk. I didn’t find the track leading to the parking area tricky as some have reported. There were some potholes but nothing major and it was reasonably easy to pass other cars. May be different after bad weather. We followed the 45 minute circular walk with a 4 year old and we enjoyed it! Parking required a £2 donation and the parking area is small, so no guarantee there will be spaces available.

Very nice, cosy theatre with very friendly and helpful staff. Good location and plenty of parking available nearby. Comfortable seats and good sound/acoustics - we enjoyed the 1971 Rock Show there and would definitely come back.

Great little theatre on our doorstep. Seen few shows here, mainly musicals. Just the right size and good views from just about everywhere. Smaller theatres normally get smaller act but every now and then along comes a star. Yesterday it was Paul Youngs turn. A real cheeky chappie who came on stage with Spandau Ballets saxophonist Steve Norman. A winning combination. They told some really funny stories and sang a few songs. Unfortunately the voices are no longer there. A shame but still a great show. Comfy seats, good prices and a nice little bar so what’s not to like. Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎹🎶🎤🎸

Hubby booked the Dolly Parton country and western show for me and it was fabulous. Leg room in some of the seats were a problem for my hubby due to knee replacements so would suggest an aisle seat or those with no one in front of you. Disabled parking right outside . Friendly and helpful staff and it was a fab event
Janet S — Google review
Lovely theatre, welcoming staff, fairly comfortable seat with sufficient leg room for our medium stature. We sat in row G, towards the middle, it’s a small theatre so anywhere along the row affords a good view. I would have benefited a better view if the seating was tiered a little more as I was struggling to see around the head of the person in front of me; after the interval we moved closer to the aisle where nobody was directly in front. Fair choice of drink and ice cream in the interval. Free parking near by.

The Old Bell is a charming pub located in a 14th-century building. It offers an array of traditional British dishes and serves authentic ales. The pub occasionally hosts live music events, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. Situated in the heart of Henley, this lovely establishment boasts good beer and friendly staff. With its cozy interior resembling a welcoming front room, complete with a delightful fireplace, visitors can enjoy the warm ambiance all year round.
We went there for a couple of drinks before dinner on an October Saturday evening. We absolutely loved the atmosphere. The pub is located in an old building dating from 1365 (!!), ceilings are quite low (mind your head if you're tall) and it was full of locals. The team behind the bar was very welcoming. There's a beer garden in the back with heating poles if needed, but we stayed by the counter and played some boardgames with a Guinness and an espresso martini in hand. 💯% recommend

Ordered an Oxford Gold and it was old, tasted like vinegar. Changed it for other ale which was Brakspear IPA but that was cloudy and not right either. So, £20.48 for a Guinness and a double G&T it was, Thought I was in Covent Garden for a minute!

A cozy, quirky pub, with so much character. Loved popping in here for a drink. A great atmosphere, friendly service. Plenty of selection and good prices. Only advice...watch your head on the beams!!! Duck, duck, duck!! I have a recomendation after witnessing a customer hit his head badly on the beam near the bar. I am sat in another pub right now and in the picture attached they have cushioned the risky beam. May e an idea for "The Old Bell". As the sign is not visible enough to customers.

I was kindly treated to two nights at Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery for my birthday. We stayed in the Pool House room, which is right by a pool, hot tub and sauna. These facilities are exclusively for the use of the pool House guests, so you can enjoy some privacy and don't get disturbed by other guests coming and going. The room is well appointed, with an ensuite bath/shower room, and views directly onto the vineyard catching the morning sun. Breakfast was included and done very well, with the option of a full English. The wine tour and tasting lasted about 2 hours, taking you on a tour of the vineyard and winery/brewery facilities, finished off with a tasting of some of their wines, beers and liqueurs. Very enjoyable indeed! They have a deal with a local pub for dinner, which includes a taxi ride there and back (about a 5-10 minute drive to Hambledon village). The menu was excellent and well worth it. We both cycle and enjoyed the excellent cycling in spectacular scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the winery and hope to go back at some point. It's a bit more to stay in the Pool House compared with the main house rooms, but worth it if you enjoy the facilities it offers.

We did the tour and tasting followed by an overnight stay. All of the staff we met were lovely. The grounds and buildings were very well kept. Victoria was a great tour/tasting guide and certainly knew her stuff. We sampled various wines, beers and liqueurs, along with some cheese and crackers to cleanse the pallet between tastings. The farmhouse breakfast was great too!

I recently proposed to my girlfriend at this stunning venue, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting or experience. From start to finish, everything was smooth, beautifully organized, and completely stress-free. Don, the venue owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with- professional, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about making special moments unforgettable. The coordination with our photographer and even the tour guide, Steve, was seamless. Everyone worked together behind the scenes to make the moment magical, and they absolutely delivered. Steve was fantastic, and his knowledge is amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, the setting was picture-perfect, and the entire team made sure everything went off without a hitch. Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion- it truly exceeded all expectations!

What a beautiful venue and a very informative presentation and tour by your staff. Forgive me but I can't recall the South African guys name but he made it a very memorable visit with his knowledge and anecdotes. Unfortunately i couldn't fully take part in the tasting session at the end because of having to drive home but plenty of great wines and beers to buy at the end. Happy to support a small but very professional and enterprising business.I would recommend anyone with an interest in wine making and brewing to pay them a visit. A truly memorable visit. Thank you

Just spent the afternoon at this venue with a tour being provided by one of the sommeliers. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the estate, the business and wine and beer making. He then led us expertly through a tasting of three wines, three beers and a liqueur. We then sat in the beautiful courtyard and enjoyed a glass of wine. Recommend a trip to this venue.

Côte in Henley-on-Thames is a popular choice for those seeking a relaxed and dependable dining experience. While some have found the portion sizes to be lacking, others have praised the quality of dishes such as the fish stew, which features an abundance of seafood in a delicious tomato sauce. The atmosphere and service are highlighted as exceptional, making it stand out among other options in the area.
My partner and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast here during our visit to Henley-on-Thames. There was a great selection of gluten free options, and very little waiting time- perfect!

Lovely front of house. The Côte de Boeuf was perfectly seared for the maillard crust but still medium rare inside. Been a long time since I was out in a Friday night. Fab.

A very beautiful, calm, clean restaurant to relax and enjoy beautiful food and wine! I had a Princess Treatment! Very fond of the team and my heartfelt congratulations to the owners!!

WOW breakfast was delish! ATMOSPHERE: We went at the end of the breakfast slots, around 11:15am and it was super quiet! It was a Tuesday so would add to the quietness but nonetheless a pleasant experience. Air con was super cold and refreshing on the 30°C day we went. FOOD: Amazing! Had the berries and vanilla channels cream french toast which was PERFECT. Not too sweet or overly filling like some french toasts that come lathered in ice cream. This was perfect. Also had the garden breakfast which was devine! They didn’t have the veggie sausages which is what we came for! But replaced it with the mushroom pattie from the vegan menu and it was still as good. SERVICE: super friendly staff! Didn’t feel rushed and they were very attentive. Defined recommend coming here for breakfast and a walk around Henley!

Very well presented and cooked well, do a decent set menu which is great for lunch €25.00 for three courses

We had breakfast here on my girls’ birthday. I had had breakfast here twice before and was happy both times and expecting the same kind of portion size but unfortunately portions were much smaller, they are trying to make it look like the plate is full with new plates where the centre is deeper (like a bowl) but you can’t fool me 😥. It was good taste-wise and no complaints about the service (was expecting something small for my girls as it was their birthday and I told the server but got nothing). Not sure if I’ll come again due to small portions.

Came here for breakfast and it was lovely. The avocado toast with poached eggs was delicious, the staff were really attentive, and the atmosphere was great.

We went to Cotes early evening and we were the only ones in there until another couple came in. Whilst the previous large menu remained mainly the same at least there was variety. The menu was so small and pricy we nearly got up and left. The beef burger was a solid lump of meat and didn’t particularly taste very nice either. They offer unlimited fries. Is that a good thing? More salads would be better. Sadly we won’t be visiting again. The staff were lovely the best thing.

This is my first time visiting the UK, and I’ve really enjoyed the beautiful weather in June. During the final week of my trip, I chose to stay in Henley-on-Thames and had a lovely meal at The Bull. Vinnie, was incredibly kind and professional. At the end of the meal, he asked if I was here for the Regatta—but at the time, I didn’t know what that word meant. I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness and he shared that with me. It was a wonderful experience!

I want to say thank you to Chloe for a wonderful Saturday evening. We really enjoyed the food , service and atmosphere. Being able to order drinks and put it on our table before our table was ready was perfect and it got better from then. For my starter CRISPY SALT & PEPPER FRIED SQUID Garlic aioli and grilled lemon , it was light and the flavours complimented each other and it was amazing. For my main I had LAMB RUMP Fresh mint, new potatoes, red wine jus, peas, tenderstem broccoli and it was beautifully cooked . I would have liked the Lamb a bit more pink but I still loved it. It was an amazing dish. Desert I had MANGO & PASSION FRUIT ETON MESS which tasted heavenly , I loved every mouthful. It is a beautiful establishment. I would recommend everyone to eat , drink and enjoy.

A wonderful pub experience! This pub is warm, spacious, and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating that feels cozy yet open. The outdoor area is especially charming, with a lovely countryside vibe and blooming flowers all around. As for the food – absolutely top notch! I had the steak and fries, cooked perfectly rare just the way I like it. Delicious and satisfying. But what I appreciated the most was the atmosphere: relaxed, not too noisy, and with plenty of space between tables. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and enjoy your meal in peace. Highly recommended!

Second visit and another really pleasant experience . Both times served by Vinnie who is the right side of attentive without being intrusive. Lovely atmosphere , a great place to be in on a miserable Wednesday evening. …or any evening really. Thank you, we’ll be back.

Popped in here today as it was listed at our campsite as dog friendly, all I can say is wow! What a little gem, well actually it's not little, it's huge. Really lovely decorated, great atmosphere, clean, yes dog friendly and food was awesome, staff attentive and really enjoyed our visit.

Lovely place hugely let down by extremely slow staff and mediocre food, the fish and chips was claggy and felt like it was the end of the day food, definitely not fresh, as if it had been left for a while (we were there at 6:45), my risotto was undercooked and wasn't great, the arancini starter was delicious - the one thing that was actually good about our evening. Staff were extremely slow with no more than 20 tables I find it difficult to excuse it, 25 mins for mains which is understandable, but then 20 minutes for desserts - a slice of pecan pie with ice cream and a strawberry sundae which was three scoops of ice cream, not sure why it took so long. Also not presented with napkins when given desserts? Presented with the bill but then had to wait a further 15 minutes for someone to come over for us to pay, at this point we just wanted to leave but couldn't get the attention of the staff as they were barely there! Overall was massively disappointed as it's a lovely place with a great menu, just hugely let down by service and not great food, overpriced for what it is. Also not asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we would've preferred inside as it was very hot in their patio area. Good selection of drinks.

We came for dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter (sorry didn't know his name) was so lovely, excellent service. This place is huge and has lots going on but our table near the back was still really peaceful and cosy

Nestled in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, just a short drive from Henley-on-Thames, the Bottle & Glass Inn is a charming thatched pub that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern British cuisine. This extensively refurbished grade two listed establishment offers an inviting atmosphere for both casual lunches and family dinners. Guests can indulge in hearty dishes like fallow deer venison haunch or half grilled lobster, complemented by delightful desserts such as Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding.
Great place to stay in a good location. Both the evening meal and breakfast were fantastic. Will be staying here again.

We visited this isolated pub for dinner and were totally blown away by the good standard. All 3 of us ordered the rib eye steak with chips, béarnaise sauce and dressed baby gem. It was £38, all really enjoyed it. The triple cooked chips are DELICIOUS! We drank the South African Protea Merlot at £32. The staff were really friendly and attentive.

Visited the barn today with my family lovely food and nice location, but had to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food which I think wasn't acceptable it wasn't very busy. We did get offered free drinks as an apology so that was nice.

The bottle and glass is a nice place to go in a very fine setting. I went there on a night when pizzas were being made in the garden. If you haven't booked don't bother expecting one and if you have booked don't wait until you are hungry to go as there were numerous complaints about the length of time it was taking them to make pizzas. What was strange is that the people in the pizza tent didn't suggest to me that they were selling food from a different menu in the bar, when I asked for a pizza and they turned me down

I’ve just dropped in for a cold pint whilst out cycling the beautiful lanes. The barman was really snooty, didn’t make eye contact, and paused just long enough to convey disdain. On top of this, a cider and crisps cost £9.50. Not coming back here again

So we rolled up for Sunday lunch, five of us. Four had roasts, one had a pasta dish, only one of us had a beer, the rest soft drinks. Guess the bill? No really, guess. £200! Yes, £40 a head. Unbelievable. We will not be back.

I stoped by for breakfast, it was recommended, it was good experience. What I did like the most was the ambiance. The barn style deco. , my kind of place

Family lunch in a la carte restaurant. Teenage children said the food was really tasty. Great location, covered dining outside perfect on a hot day.
